We're in the threshold—between Winter Solstice and Chinese New Year, still in the Year of the Snake. And the Snake's final teaching is the shed.

In this raw bonus episode, I'm naming what I've been afraid to say: I'm a therapist (MA, LPCC) AND a priestess. For too long, I've kept these split into two separate identities, two separate businesses—not because they're contradictory, but because I was afraid. Afraid of the licensing board. Afraid of being too clinical for spiritual people, too woo for therapy people. Afraid of being rejected by both worlds.

What we explore:

  • How the matrix fragments us: body = doctors, mind = therapists, spirit = churches
  • Why healers who work with the WHOLE person (body-mind-spirit integrated) are so powerful
  • My decision to eliminate all one-on-one spiritual guidance through The Goddess Coven
  • What it means to be a credentialed priestess who teaches psychology alongside goddess wisdom
  • The Snake's teaching: shedding happens when you stop asking permission

This isn't abstract "breaking the matrix" talk. This is real risk in the real world. This is walking out of the cage—even when there's no path, even when you're the first one through.

If you're a helping professional who's been hiding part of yourself, or if you're ready to shed your own old skin in these final dark nights before the Fire Horse year—this episode is your permission slip.

(00:00):
Welcome back to Priestess Initiations.
I'm Casey, and this is a bonus episode.
The final shedding of 2025, Breaking the Matrix.
We're in the threshold right nowbetween winter solstice, the
darkest day of the year, and Chinese New Year on January

(00:20):
29th. We're still in the Year of the
Snake, and the snake's final teaching is the shed.
And I have something to share with you, something I've been
afraid to name, something I'm shedding.
This episode is about breaking the Matrix.
Not in the abstract spiritual bypass way we sometimes throw
that phrase around, but in the real practical.

(00:43):
I'm doing something that scares me way.
Because here's what I'm learning.
Breaking the Matrix isn't just seeing the cage, it's walking
out even when there's no path, even when everyone says stay,
even when you're the first one through.
It's creating a third path at the crossroads, the one that was

(01:04):
hidden before and perhaps has never been walked.
So winter solstice is the darkest point, the longest
night, the moment when Earth herself descends deepest into
shadow, before the light begins at slow return.
This is Persephone's throne room.
This is where transformation happens, Not in the light, where

(01:26):
we can see what's coming, but inthe dark, where we must trust
what we cannot yet perceive. The Old Ones knew this.
They built fires on solstice. Not to deny the darkness, but to
sit with it, to honor it, To understand that death comes
before rebirth. Always.

(01:49):
Starlight shimmers on snow beneath forgotten trees, like
pierced ash scattered through a midnight breeze.
It's a little poem I wrote, but the snow knows.
It falls in the dark. It covers what was.
It creates the quiet, the stillness, the blank canvas

(02:11):
where something new can emerge. And the snake knows too.
Between Solstice and the Fire Horse year, beginning January
29th, we are in the final weeks of shedding.
The old skin doesn't fit anymore.
It never will again. This is the time, the threshold,
the dark of the moon before the new moon rises.

(02:34):
So I'm asking you, what are you shedding?
What old skin no longer fits? And something that I think is
important to mention here is that in this last month or so of
shedding, the intention isn't todo more.

(02:56):
The space is meant for being, for resting, for letting go and
recuperating your energy before the year of the Fire Horse
starts. So much of what you've shed, so
much of your skin is already off.

(03:16):
This is just the last little biton the tail.
So let your body rest and trust.Trust the shed.
Trust what you already know. And so let's talk about the
Matrix. In spiritual communities, people

(03:37):
throw this term around. I usually don't.
I usually don't talk about the matrix in part because of this,
because in spiritual communitiesa lot of people say I'm breaking
the matrix. That's matrix programming.
Escape the matrix, but it usually stays abstract,
theoretical, safe. But breaking the matrix isn't

(04:02):
just seeing the illusion, it's taking real risk in the real
world based on what you now see.So what is the Matrix?
The Matrix fragments us. It splits body, mind and spirit
into separate domains controlledby separate authorities.
Body means doctors in the medical system.

(04:25):
Mind is for therapists in the mental health system.
Spirit is for churches, priests, shamans, and religious
institutions. And these systems, they don't
talk to each other by design. Here's how this plays out.
You go to your doctor with chronic pain.

(04:46):
They run tests. Nothing shows up.
They tell you it's in your head and send you to a therapist.
You go to the therapist, they diagnose anxiety or depression.
They refer you to psychiatry formedication and give you coping
strategies, but they only work with your thoughts.

(05:06):
You go to the church seeking spiritual meaning for your
suffering, or you go to a shaman, or you go to a healing
circle and they tell you to pray, to follow the light, to
have faith, to trust God or the universe's plan.
But they don't address the trauma living in your nervous
system or the inflammation in your tissues.

(05:29):
So you're split into pieces. Body treatment that ignores
emotion. Mental health treatment that
ignores the soma meaning body. Spiritual guidance that bypasses
the material. And you never heal fully because
you're not whole. But here's what science is

(05:49):
finally catching up to what Indigenous healers and Mystics
have always known. Body, mind and spirit are not
separate. There's an entire field called
Psycho Neuro Immunology that studies this.
It maps how your thoughts createchemical cascades, how your
emotions impact your immune function, how trauma lives in
your fascia, your gut, your nervous system.

(06:12):
Your anxiety isn't just in your head.
It's in your shallow breathing, your tight shoulders, your
racing heart. Your depression isn't separate
from the inflammation in your body, the disconnection from
meaning, the loss of purpose, ofspiritual purpose.
And your spiritual crisis is a nervous system crisis, and that

(06:34):
is a somatic crisis. When we treat them as separate,
we keep people fragmented, partially healed, coming back
for more. And that's profitable for
pharmaceutical companies, for insurance systems, for
institutions that need you dependent.
But when a healer understands body and mind and spirit as one

(06:56):
unified system, that's power thematrix can't control.
When you can work with someone'strauma somatically and
psychologically and spiritually all at once, integrated a whole,
that's transformation. The system can't commodify.
That's what they're afraid of. So here's my matrix break.

(07:19):
I'm a body psychotherapist. I was trained to see the whole
person, to work with soma and psyche together, to understand
that healing happens through integration, not fragmentation.
And I'm a priestess. I was initiated by goddesses who
don't separate body from spirit.Persephone descends in her body,

(07:42):
Lilith is exiled for her body, Medusa's rage lives in her body.
And I'm at a crossroads. In last week's episode, I talked
about Hecate, the Torch bearer at the crossroads who taught
Persephone that you can hold both Underworld and the Upper
World Death Queen and Spring Goddess simultaneously.

(08:04):
And now I'm standing at my own crossroads, learning what Hecate
knows. Wholeness is not choosing one,
but holding all. For too long I've kept these
parts of myself split two separate businesses.
And it does have to stay that way.
But two separate identities doesn't.

(08:26):
And I haven't kept these parts separate because they're
contradictory. They're completely aligned, but
because I was afraid. Afraid of the licensing board,
afraid of spiritual people thinking I'm too clinical,
afraid of therapy people thinking I'm too woo, Afraid of
being rejected by both worlds. So I hid.

(08:48):
I teach somatic psychology at the university level.
I have a therapy practice completely separate from the
Goddess coven. My credentials are MALPCC.
But on this podcast I've said I have a master's and body
psychotherapy and left out the rest.
I've been fragmenting myself to stay safe and I'm done.

(09:10):
Going forward, I'm naming all ofit MALPCC therapist Professor
Priestess. Not because these roles are the
same. They're not.
And here's what's important to understand.
This podcast is spiritual education.
This is not therapy. This will never be therapy.

(09:32):
I cannot provide therapy througha podcast.
Therapy requires A therapeutic relationship, informed consent,
confidentiality, assessment, andongoing professional
relationship. Where I'm working with you
individually, none of that exists in the Goddess Coven.
The Goddess Coven is a platform for teaching.
It's about creating community Co, creating a better earth

(09:55):
together, and educating people. In this work, I teach spiritual
wisdom, goddess work, embodimentpractices, and yes, somatic
psychology that I learned duringmy master's program and teach at
the university level. I'm a teacher here, not your
therapist. Just like a physician can teach

(10:16):
a health class without it being medical treatment, I can teach
spiritual and somatic wisdom, including psychology, without it
being therapy. If you're in crisis or need
mental health support, please reach out to a licensed provider
who can actually work with you individually.
That's not what this podcast is,but I'm done pretending I'm not

(10:36):
both therapist and priestess. My clinical training makes my
spiritual teaching more groundedand my spiritual practice makes
my therapy more alive and soulful.
And I refuse to split myself to make the system comfortable.
And here's what this announcement means practically

(10:58):
for the Goddess Coven. I'm eliminating all one-on-one
spiritual guidance and consultation services through
this platform. The Goddess Coven is purely
educational teaching through this podcast, community
gatherings, workshops, and groupseminars.
This isn't about making myself less accessible, it's about
creating crystal clear boundaries so I can show up

(11:18):
fully integrated when there's nogrey zone, no services that
could look like therapy even though they're not.
I can name my credentials openly, I can teach psychology
alongside priestess wisdom without confusion.
I can be both therapist and priestess, holding both sets of
keys because the structure itself protects the boundaries.

(11:42):
This makes me a credentialed priestess, not just spiritually
initiated, but academically trained.
And that matters because the integration of psychology and
spirituality, that's not just mycalling.
That's the medicine our world needs.
I'm sharing my ethics process publicly because I know there
are other therapists, counselors, social workers out

(12:04):
there who are also priestesses, witches, shamans who've been
hiding that part of themselves out of fear.
If I can show you how to do thiswith clear boundaries, with
integrity, with both worlds honored, maybe you'll have the
courage to step into your wholeness too.
We need credentialed healers whoaren't fragmented.

(12:26):
This is how we built that. So what is your matrix break?
Not the abstract awakening. Not I see the truth now.
What real thing are you doing differently?
Maybe it's telling your family you're done pretending to
believe what they believe. Quitting the job that fragments

(12:46):
you into professional self versus authentic self.
Starting the creative work you've hidden because that's not
a real career. Claiming a title you've been too
afraid to own. Integrating parts of yourself
you've kept separate to say acceptable.
What are you actually doing? Because the Matrix keeps us

(13:08):
small by keeping us afraid. Afraid of visibility, Afraid of
wholeness, Afraid of being the first, afraid of what we'll lose
if we step outside the prescribed path.
But here's what the snake knows. The shedding happens when you do
it anyway. When you stop asking permission.

(13:28):
When you stop waiting for someone else to go first.
When you trust that the old skinno longer fits and you walk
through the threshold naked, vulnerable, new.
We're in the final weeks of snake year, between the dark,
the deepest dark, sorry, the deepest dark of winter solstice

(13:49):
and the fire of the new year. And we're in liminal time,
threshold time between world's time.
The snake doesn't theorize aboutshedding.
The snake doesn't wait for the perfect moment or the right
conditions or someone to show her how.
The snake just does it awkwardly, vulnerably necessary.

(14:13):
She finds a rough surface, a rock, a branch, something to
catch the edge of the old skin, and she rubs against it over and
over until the skin starts to tear, and then she pulls herself
through, leaving the old skin behind, translucent and empty, a
ghost of what she was. That's the work.

(14:33):
Not comfortable, not pretty, notInstagram worthy.
Just real and necessary. And the only way forward, The
darkest point, is also the turning point.
After solstice, the light returns slowly, almost
imperceptible. But it returns.

(14:55):
And after the snake sheds a month later, she's vulnerable
for a while. Her new skin is soft, sensitive,
exposed. She has to move carefully until
it hardens. But she's bigger now.
She's outgrown what confined her.
That's what this threshold offers us between solstice, a

(15:16):
darkness and fire horse dawn, between old skin and new,
between who we were and who we're becoming.
This is where the shedding happens.
In the dark, in the quiet, in the liminal space where
transformation is possible because we can't see well enough
to be afraid. So yes, I'm a therapist and yes,

(15:37):
I'm a priestess, and if that breaks your brain or breaks the
rules, good. The rules were designed to keep
us fragmented, and I'm done withthat.
And here's what I'm learning in this threshold.
As I'm walking the Maiden to Mother Passage right now, I'm
learning what it means to step from being the one who descends

(15:59):
for herself to being the one whoholds the torch for others.
The Maiden transforms herself. She walks her own initiations.
She experiments. She descends.
She claims her own sovereignty. The Mother transforms through
teaching. She creates containers for
collective healing. She holds space for others to

(16:20):
sense because she's walked them herself.
And like Hecate, holding her torch at the crossroads, I'm
learning. I don't have to wait until I've
arrived to teach, because there is no arrival.
I can hold the torch from the threshold itself.
I can be learning and leading simultaneously.

(16:41):
I can be descending and guiding at the same time.
That's what this podcast is. That's what the Goddess Coven
is. I'm not teaching from the other
side. I'm teaching from the in
between, from the crossroads with keys to both worlds in my
hands. Therapist and priestess, Maiden
and Mother, clinical and mystical, all of it held in one

(17:05):
body, one voice, one woman refusing to be split.
The snake sheds, the solstice comes, the light returns, and
I'm stepping through hole. What are you shedding in these
final dark nights? What old skin Are you ready to
leave behind? And what is stepping through

(17:25):
hole look like for you? If you want to understand the
lineages, I'm teaching from the transpersonal psychology, the
somatic frameworks, the priestess initiations.
There's a new page on our website called Bridging
Psychology and Spirituality through Soma that breaks it all
down. Trust the spiral.

(17:46):
Blessed be. This podcast offers spiritual
and psychological education and priestess wisdom.
This is not therapy, counseling or mental health treatment.
