Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a prime time with Sean Mooney production. What's
going on wrestling fantasized see fall Welcome back to ten count.
On today's edition, you were talking about the top ten
times wrestlers were legitimately knocked out in the ring, and
some of these you remember. Some of these might be hmm,
don't recall that one, Steve, but we will talk about
them right now now. Chavo Guerrero was knocked out by
(00:24):
a botch Shooting Star Press by Billy Kidman on SMACKD
in two thousand and four. This would start a storyline
where Billy Kinnen was afraid to use the Shooting Star Press,
even retiring from professional wrestling, because in wrestling, we're supposed
to be trusting our partners in the ring, while sometimes
things go wrong, and Chava was knocked out cold, he
was sent to the hospital and Billy Kidmen retired. He
(00:47):
retired the Shooting Star Press because of what happened here.
And sometimes it's an accident, sometimes we get over zealous.
But Chava Guerrero, he uh watched the spot. He gets
smashed in the face hard hard. Next up though, is
Kyrie sent at TLC twenty nineteen She's concush by Charlotte
(01:09):
Flair with a botch table spot. Now, the thing about
this is everyone has cell phones. Everyone has cameras on
their cell phones. In two thousand and four, when Chava
was knocked out by Billy Kidman, no one has cameras
all over their cell phones. In twenty nineteen at TLC,
when Kyrie's knocked out and Charlotte Flair continues trying to
(01:30):
pick her up and do moves, well, Becky Lynch steps
in and stops what's happening. He's like, Charlotte, she's knocked out. Dude, like,
let's she's concussed. Let's wait a minute. And unfortunately for
Charlotte Flair that evening, in the weeks and months and
years to come, people will still send this clip to
Charlotte Flair. They will still talk about this in a
(01:53):
negative LFE because guess what, when Charlotte Flair is out
there performing in the ring with twenty thousand fans screaming,
going wild, I imagine it's difficult to see a wrestler
on the ground in Discover are they actually hurt? Because
guess what in wrestling, you hold your arm, you hold
your head, you hold your legs. Hey, I'm hurt. I'm hurt.
(02:13):
I'm hurt. Yes, what they're selling so you don't know
if they're actually hurt. Charlotte Flair most likely didn't know
that because I consider Charlotte Flair a professional. I consider
her someone who would say, well, if she's hurt, I'm
not gonna pick her up, because who would do that.
What a terrible person it would be for picking somebody
up who's hurt and still trying to hit moves. Becky
(02:34):
Lynch steps in and she was praised. I remember this
night like it was yesterday at TLC twenty nineteen, whereverybody
and their mother was angry at Charlotte Flair for not
realizing that Kyrie was hurt. But everybody was saying, well,
Bucky Lynch stepped in and save Kyrie, which he did.
But in reality, I don't blame Charlotte Flair for what happened,
(02:55):
but I do think sometimes selling tricks even us and
even the wrestlers. Next up, though, is William Ringal being
knocked out at No Way Out two thousand and three.
He's knocked out by just a simple body slam by King.
He continued the match and he won it with Lance Storm.
It was a tag team match. Now, William Regal we
(03:17):
have known. If you're a deep deep wrestling fan, we
know he trains today's stars in NXT. He was in
aw for a brief moment, but for years upon years
upon decades he was in WCW, he was in the WWE.
He was the Commissioner, European Champion, in Intercontinental Champion, tag
Team Champion. Now, he might have been not the most
popular wrestler, but everybody knows that he is one of
(03:42):
the legitimate wrestlers in the business who teaches you the
logistics of what you're doing in the ring. Why are
you doing this move, Why are you stepping that way?
Why are you hitting someone in that way? Well, guess what.
William Regal is known for being a ring general and
taking control and helping us train the next stars. Well,
Daniel Bryan was trained by William Regel. I know Sean
(04:03):
Michaels gets a lot of credit, but William Regil was
there a lot. But Regal finished the matchup. And we
have seen that William Rigel suffers from intense nosebleeds and
he got that fixed. As years would go on, but
just a simple body slam can knock you out in
the wrestling if you don't land the proper way. So
when people think, well anyone can wrestle, well, anyone can
(04:25):
do these moves, can they? Because even William Regal, someone
who's respected in the wrestling business for his professionalism, knocked
out by a simple body slam. Next up on our list, though,
Goldberg Super Showdown. It's twenty nineteen. Now, Goldberg knocked himself
(04:46):
out by hitting the post when he was taking on
the undertake. The match was just a disaster, complete disaster,
and Goldberg even says that backstage before the match, when
he slammed his head into a lot, well, he busted
himself open a little bit. He can cuss himself a
tad backstage with that locker and then continued on with
(05:09):
that post Goldberg. The most recent WWE run for Goldberg
in the late twenty tens was not the most exciting one. Now,
when we saw him in two thousand and three, sure
it was an okay run. When he came back in
twenty sixteen and fought Brock Lezard Survivors Series and beat
(05:33):
Brock in about thirty seconds, amazing that Brock versus Goldberg
run I enjoy thoroughly. But when they kept bringing back
Goldberg for big shows like a WrestleMania or a Super
Showdown or Crown Jewels, things of that nature, Goldberg bring
being brought back for one us didn't really do it
(05:55):
for a lot of fans. Beating the Fiend for the championship. No,
people were not happy losing to Braun Stroman at WrestleMania
during the pandemic. Nothing very special there as well. Goldberg
has been looked at many different times as a star
as a man who needs to step away from the ring.
(06:17):
But at Super Showdown, when you want to see a
disaster play out live in front of you, watch this
matchup every spot that is simple at the jack camera,
the spear, I want to jump and choke slam you.
I'm gonna jump into a clothes line. All of them
botched this match. Batcha mania exploded this day when Super
(06:40):
Showdown took place. So if you want to enjoy a disaster,
a car crash of sorts, get some popcorn, gather your friends,
sit down and watch Goldberg versus the Undertaker. The next
up on our list is a friend of mine, Kenneth Michelle.
An episode of Raw in two thousand and seven, she
(07:02):
fell off the top rope, suffered a concussion in a
broken collarbone, out of action for six weeks, and this
was around the time she was getting a big push
taking on Beth Phoenix. It's unfortunate for wrestlers when you're
on the rise and you get hurt, because once you're
on the rise and you get hurt, well you take
it out. Someone actually has to take your spot. Who's
(07:23):
it gonna be. All the wrestlers around this time, Victoria
Tory Wilson, Beth Phoenix, Mickey James, they all step up,
so when you come back, it's hard to get going
again because somebody for the past six weeks has been
pumping and rolling and keep on pushing forward. Kenneth Michelle.
They used this image when she fell off the top
(07:45):
rope and fell sideways on her face and broke her
collarbone when they had they do not Try This at
Home videos airing before raws and smackdowns and pay per views,
and during these events, they showed this every time. And
it's interesting when you watch those do not Try Us
at Home videos because some of these injuries wore actual
(08:06):
real life injuries. Maybe two of them were Oh, my
shoulders hurt. I'm pretending my shoulders hurt. They weren't hurt.
They were not hurt. They were not hurt. But Cannas
Michelle falling and it's not a beautiful fall, you know
sometimes in wrestling when someone gets hurt, like, oh, I'm
falling off a Titan tron. Oh I fell and one
(08:27):
into my back the way Cannis Michelle lands, it's a
thun boot. Just Matt smack her face, her collar bone.
She's out, and she actually says this is the beginning
of the kind of the end for her because after
getting hurt, she was cautious and I would be too.
(08:48):
You do everything you're doing right suddenly ends and now
you gotta come back and you have to somehow pretend
that you're okay mentally. I've talked to a lot of
wrestlers over the years, and a lot of wrestlers say
that when you get injur and you come back, it's
not a Oh I'm back and I feel great. I'm back,
and I'm really afraid to break my collarbone again or
break my leg or gicking cuss. Payback twenty sixteen is
(09:13):
next on the list. Enzo, it was supposed to be
the beginning of the NXT being called up. All these stars.
You had Enzo and Big Casts and the vad Villains
in a tag team match. Everyone was so excited for this.
Everyone was so pumped to see this, the first crop
of NXT stars being called up and having matches on
pay per views. Well, at Payback twenty sixteen does not
(09:36):
go the way Simon Gotch throws Enzo. Enzo tries to
slide underneath the bottom rope, he hits his neck, then
he hits his face on the apron, and he knocks
himself out. He stretched, he has a concussion. Now this
would begin the rivalry between Enzo and Simon Gotch in
real life because this would stall Enzo's push, This would
(09:58):
stall Big Cast's push, and this would put a lot
of heat on Simon Gotch today's world. As I talk
about this, none of these men are in the WWE anymore.
I'm surprised because both tag teams were very popular. If
you watch this, if you see Enzo's neck bounce off
(10:19):
the bottom rope and snap back and hit the apron,
you can see him out called right away. And again,
when you're watching the match, you first think Oh wow,
that looked bad. He's okay, he'll get back up. No,
he'd no, it's over. And maybe this was the beginning
because in wrestling, you've noticed over the years, when someone
gets hurt, sometimes people put a label on you. Oh,
(10:42):
that guy or that girl is injury prone. Sometimes bad
things happen to good people, and this is one of
those moments. You can feel any which way you want
about Enzo, but him in Big Cast at this time
in twenty sixteen were over. They were popular. Everyone knew
their catch phrases. There is even a night when Enzo
and Big Cast come out and they go cut their
(11:04):
entire promo where you can't teach that my name is
Enzo amor Ray and they the whole crowd did it.
He didn't eat a microphone. Enzo did not eat a microphone.
The crowd did it for him. That's when you know
you're over. But unfortunately, this injury right off the bat
did not start off Big Cast and Enzo in the
right light. Now, WrestleMania, we've seen WrestleMania moments where people
(11:28):
get hurt. We've seen WrestleMania moments when people win championships.
We have seen moments at WrestleMania. That's the five the odds. Well,
WrestleMania twenty seven is a WrestleMania that people do not
talk about in the best light. Why for a lot
of reasons. We'll have to do a whole show on that.
But the Miz is knocked out by John Cena in
(11:51):
the main event. The Miz is the w w E champion.
That's right, folks, his first title run. And I was
all in on the is in twenty the WrestleMania twenty seven,
I was all in. I believe everything he said to me. Oh,
he's the new guy. He's the new face. Because we
didn't have to deal with more the Batistas, the John Cena's,
(12:12):
the Raindy Yortans, the Edges. We were getting a new
main event star in the Miz. Well, in this matchup,
there is a spot on the barricade where John Cena
jumps on top of the Miz to fly him over
the barricade. Well, the Miz hits the back of his
head on the concrete, giving him a concussion. In the
Maz over the years interviews has said that he doesn't
(12:33):
remember anything about this match because of that concussion, and
that's unfortunate because WrestleMania. For a lot of wrestling fans,
it's the kreml d Krem. It's the biggest event of
the year. And if you're a wrestler in the WWE,
and now you're gonna get the main event WrestleMania. So far,
there's only been so many WrestleMania, so not everyone gets
(12:56):
the main event. We have seen Hogan and Roman Reigns
and John's people like that main event WrestleMania. The Mizz
is main event in won WrestleMania, and it's this one
and he's concussed and he doesn't remember anything about it. Now,
the Rock does come down and Rock bottoms John Cena,
(13:17):
which allows the Miz to win the matchup. So we
all thought the match was over. We all thought this
concussion was the end of WrestleMania twenty seven. The Rock
saved us that night, which then would lead to once
in a Lifetime, which then would lead to twice in
a lifetime with The Rock taking on John CeNAT a
Wrestlingia at twenty eight and twenty nine. But the mi
(13:37):
is being concussed, not even remembering the main event. That's
gonna suck for him. That has got to be one
of those moments we think, Damn, I wish I could remember.
I wish I could remember this monumental moment in my life,
but I can't. Up next to Sabaversary's twenty sixteen Shan
McMahon being knocked out by a Roman reign. Now over
(14:00):
the years, Rob Van Damas said that Shay McMahon stole
his Coast to Coast move because if you were an
ECW fan, you knew Rob Van dam invented the coast
to coast hitting Scottie Anton in the face with a
steel chair, starting on one side of the ring, jumping
all the way to the other, popping you in the
face while you lay in the corner with a steel chair.
(14:22):
In the WWE, they did this at Wrestling He of
seventeen when Shane McMahon first d it to Vince McMahon
Coast to Coast, and if you didn't watch ECW, you
thought Seae McMahon invented it wrong. But Seae McMahon still
wanted to do this move. As time will go on,
the older you get, the more he wanted to try,
and he kept trying it and kept trying it, and
(14:42):
sometimes he would come coast to coast. He would lay
in many touching you with his feet and sometimes he
would squish you with his body. Well, he tries to
pull the same thing off here. It's abouversar. He's twenty sixteen.
It's team Roberts, his team SmackDown. Seae McMahon goes for
Coast to Coast is speed dude mid air by Roman Reigns.
(15:03):
When seaemkmh hits the mat, boof, he's out, and you
can tell the match just falls apart here. This match
in twenty sixteen is uh, it's fun, it's exciting, but
yet with Sea mc mahon knocked out, you can tell
visibly like, oh, I think we have more spots we're
supposed to be doing, but but this person is supposed
(15:25):
to come in then, and that person no for a minute,
for a moment, this match is just thrown out of
the window for just this minute. And Sea mkmanh is
knocked out. His help backstage. But Roman reins never got
the hate that other people on this list have received.
As I said, Charlotte Flair and Kyrie, nobody was sending
(15:47):
angry messages to Roman. Oh Roman knocked out Shane moving on. Yeah,
it's a good it's interesting Surmarba series. The word interesting
can be perceived differently. Is it a positive thing a
negative thing? You decide Upnext Bill is Live Morgan in
twenty eighteen, talk about hate, talk about heat. Well, Live
(16:10):
Morgan is accidentally knocked out by Brie Bella's misfired yes
kicks now this this got heat, this god hatred. As
Liv Morgan is on her knees getting kicked in the
face and chest. Yes, yes, yes, well, she ducks down,
(16:30):
gets kicked right in the face. She's knocked out, leans
back in, and then gets kicked again in the face
by Brie Bella. Bribella is not aware that Liv Morgan
is knocked out, but she's still kicking her. Eventually, Bribella realizes,
oh shit, uh lift Morgan's out. She cannot move. You
can visibly see Lif Morgan's out cold. You can see
(16:53):
she's concussed. But that kick right in the face while
she's out cold did not help. The Bella twins life.
Now we have the Bella Army, but you also have
the anti Bella Army who hate them to their core.
No matter what they do, no matter what they've said,
they hate the belatwins. This did not help because Live
(17:15):
Morgan at the time, people were falling in love with
her more than ever. Of course, in today's world people
all adore Live Morgan, but this time she was still
trying to break through. She's still trying to figure out
her character. Well, she figured out that getting kicked in
the face by Brie Bella does not help your momentum
because she's out for a little while as well. More
hate Lands and the Bella Twins. But yet the Belatwins
(17:38):
still continue rising up ranks in the wrestling business. And
I think that is an argument you could have, is
were the Belichwins not trained? Probably with the Belichwins so
popular because they were just twins and they were beautiful.
Nicki Bella obviously is the better one in the ring.
No hate to breathe, but Niki is the better in
(17:58):
the ring. Took him along time time both to learn
the ropes. And you know, they came in for total
divas and they got picked for that. So guess what
they came in with no wrestling experience whatsoever. They caught
in because they were beautiful and they were twins. But
yet they did train, they did try hard. Kicking live
Morgan in the face did not help the love from
(18:20):
the hardcore wrestling fans. The people who are watching the
you know, the Bellatwins on e watching Total Divas, they
probably couldn't care less. That's that the Ballatwins knocked out
live Morgan couldn't care less. Wrestling fans were angry that
day and number one on our list here of ten
(18:42):
wrestlers knocked out in the ring Mick Foley Mankind, King
of the Ring nineteen ninety eight. If you are a
wrestling fan or you are not a wrestling fan, and
you watch this entire video up to this point, thank
you so much. Thank you for listening as well. But
if you want to show your friends a wrestling match
(19:04):
that would make them actually go oh oo, I should
do this. I should watch this. It is King of
the Ring nineteen ninety eight. Mankind is thrown off a
hell in the cell. He gets up, they put him
on a gurney, they wheel him out, then he climbs
back up the hell in the Cell and he has
choke slam through the top of the cell down to
(19:26):
the mat where a steel chair is also up top,
falls him down, hits them in the face and knocks
them out. Mankind over the years has done some crazy things,
but number one is this matchup. No matter what he
has done with fire and nope, nope nothing. I know Japan,
(19:46):
they had explosive matches and all that shit. It's just
smoking fireworks, you know, barbed wire. That's scary. But here
watching a man being thrown off a hell in the cell,
then climbing back up, then being choke slam through the
hell in the cell with a steel chair down, knocking
him out in the ring. That was intense. This is
one of those moments where people say, why was the
(20:06):
Attitude era so real? Why was it so great? Well,
this is one of the moments, you know, sacrificing your
body for our entertainment. Maybe not the best choice for
him in his lifestyle in today's world, but me as
a child, as a teenager at the time seeing this. Listen, folks,
if you want to show your friend something crazy, if
(20:27):
you want to show your friends something that will make
them go holy shit, I will watch Raw and SmackDown
with you. Make fully Mankind being chunk slammed through the
hell of the cell, steel chair in the face. This
is it. This is it, you know, in mckfuley's book.
He wrote about it great detail. But he's knocked out,
(20:47):
lost his teeth, dislocated his shoulder, severe injuries. A. Dondertaker
in other interviews said he thought mankind was dead and
that's why this is number one on ten times on
wrestlers being knocked out in the ring. So thank you
so much for listening, thank you so much for watching.
(21:07):
I'm Steve, have a wonderful day and we'll see you
next time. Bye bye,
