Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a prime time with Sean Mooney production.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Legends History Channel, Time and Lots History Chattel.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
What is going on?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Wrestling fans, Welcome back to the Wrestling History Channel.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I'm C Faul.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Today let's talk about the history of WWE Survivors Series
nineteen ninety three. Now, this took place in the Boston Guard. Now,
I am from Boston, and if you don't know, I
begged and I pleaded my parents to get me tickets
to this event. Unfortunately that did not happen, but a
friend of mine did go, and so I hated him forever.

(00:52):
Fifteen thousand fans jam packed the rasses into the Boston Garden.
This is actually the last pay per view in the
Boston Garden because they'll destroy it and then build it
back up.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
As the Fleet Center.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Then it was the Garden, then it was the Boston Garden,
the TD Garden. You know, corporations get involved with these
types of things. Lois pay per view by rate in
history up to this point in the WWE one hundred
and eighty thousand buys. Now we are in a strange
time in the WWE, because nineteen ninety three is not

(01:25):
a time where you're having your Hulk of Maniacs or
your Little Warriors or your your macho man fans. We
have Lex Luger, Brett Hart. Those are your two main
good guys. We're gonna break down really what's happening here?
And on commentary Vince McMahon and Bobby the Brain Heenan.
This is actually Bobby the Brain Heenan's last pay per

(01:49):
view before.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Leaving for WCW.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Unfortunately, the company wasn't doing very well financially. Bobby the
Brain Heenen, Mean Gene Oakland, gryllam monson, a lot of
these on air talents who were doing backstage interviews.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
They were making so much money because they were part
of the show.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
It wasn't just watching the wrestlers in the ring. Bobby
and Geno and Mejean, all these people. They added so
many elements. Shaw Mooney obviously, Lord Alfred Hayes. These are
names that a lot of people remember from the golden
era of the WWE, but there's not much going on
for them. In nineteen ninety three, Mooney leaves after Restman

(02:30):
ye nine, Gryllamont soon and Lord Alfred Hayes are phased out.
Mean Gene leaves for WCW as well, and WSW is
offering more money with less dates. Now we can all
say like, how dare you, Bobby, how dare you mean, Gene?
How dare you leave to go to the rival? Well,
guess what, folks, it's a business. They're at work. They

(02:52):
might love the people they work with, but they want
to be paid this same amount of money. Imagine going
to work and you've been there for seven days, seven years,
and out of nowhere they say to you, Hey, you're
doing a great job, but we're gonna cut your pay
in half for what reason? Well, because we're not doing well,
so we can't pay you what we offered you. Originally,

(03:14):
I understand Bobby Haynen excuse me, Bobby Heenan.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Leaving, But it's just it was so sad. It was
an end of an era.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
A lot of backstage controversies at the Survivor series as well,
a lot of them. We're gonna break them down match
by match though. The first match, though, if you bought
tickets and you got to the arena early and got
to see your dark match, Billy Gunn defeated the Brooklyn Brawler,
Billy Gunn would be one half of the Smoking Guns
with his brother Bart Gunn.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Great tag team, especially in the New Generation era.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
There weren't a lot of great tag teams in the
New Generation and Billy Gunn Bart Gun Smoking Guns supplied
that Brooklyn Brawler always a professional this man. One time
I tried to get an interview with him. He wanted
a thousand dollars. I said, I'm not paying you one
thousand dollars. I love you, Brooklyn Brawler, but I'm not
paying a one thousand dollars. And he talk to me

(04:06):
on the phone for an hour, just telling me road stories,
trying to convince me to pay him one thousand dollars.
And I'm thinking to myself, like, wow, you just told
me a lot of stuff on the phone for an hour.
I could have easily easily recorded that conversation aired it somewhere.
That would have been not the best move. But he

(04:28):
very warm, very warm on the phone, very sharing, a
little too shary first Munch.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Tami.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
First matchup of the evening, though, is Razor Ramone is
his Survivor Series team with Marginetti. The one two three
kid and supposed to be on this team is mister perfect.
Now he doesn't show up to this event, he no
shows over pay disputes and not being happy with what's
going on with his character, so he decides to not

(04:58):
come to Survivor series and out of nowhere macho man
Randy Savage, who's been doing conentary for the past few
months on Monday.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Night Raw is now thrown in here.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
He has a robberty with Crush, who's part of the
Foreign Fanatics, the heel team we'll talk about later in
the evening. Crush used to be a babyface from Hawaii Brutta.
He was a third member of Demolition for a while
as well. So Crush, he's been doing well, but now
he's a heel. He's wearing weird face paint and uh,
I wasn't feeling this character at the time, but hey,

(05:34):
you know, choose what you want. I always enjoyed Crush
as the Hawaiian Cohona Brunda not here.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
That team defeats I R s who's the team captain
on that team of Diesel, Rick, the Model Martel and
Adam Baum.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
This is the best match of the night.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Let me flat out tell you history is not kind
to the nineteen ninety three Royal Rumble, and this.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Event is not that good.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It's not that good, but we will talk about the
history surrounding this event, so don't worry.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
You don't have to watch this if you don't want to.
It's a good match. This is the best match of
the night.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Martin Janetti in the one two three Kid put on
their working boots here tonight and they're the sole survivors
of the team.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Ramone gets out.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Savage is Lemonade because he's obsessed with trying to get crushed,
comes to ringside to distract him. It's a pretty damn
interesting evening for matches though. If you like Marty Jeneny
and one two three Kid, they own it here. But
when we go to the next match, this is where

(06:43):
the whole pay per views goes wow. And maybe you
love this event, maybe you love Survivory Series nineteen eighty three,
But as an avid watcher of everything WWF and E,
I find this event to be very hard to watch.
There's nothing wrong with each storyline, there is nothing wrong
with the matches, I guess in general, but it's very

(07:04):
I would use the word boring. There's no huge spots
or huge moments that really drive you throughout the evening
of excitement. It's just straightforward matches that really aren't giving
you the best that I think the WWE could have
offered in nine ninety three, they didn't have many stars
and maybe that's what's hurting him here. Next up, though,

(07:25):
it's the Heart family. It's Brett Hart, Award Heart, Bruce
Hart and Keith Art. Now, Keith Hart looks like a teacher.
They have firefighters in his family. They have teachers in
this family.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Keith Art does not look like the typical wrestler.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
And I know the Heart family has so much history
in Stampede wrestling is so much history there. But when
you're a little kid, you're watching this, you see Brett Hart, like, damn,
look at those muscles.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
He's looks so cool doing this with the sunglasses Owen.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
He's been here for a few years, Blue Blazer, New Foundation,
High Energy. He's been in multiple tag teams with Jim
the Anvil, Nightheart and Coco be Ware, so we know
who he is.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Bruce Hart and Keith Art. Dude, when they came.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Out the audience, oh oh, I'm supposed to cheer for
him because he is the brother of Brett. That's what
they wanted us to cheer for nobody was feeling this.
And the premise around this is Jerry the King Lawler,
who has a rivalry with Brett Hart, has been harassing
Stu and Helen Hart. Brett Hart's parents also the parents

(08:31):
of Bruce, Owen and Keith. So that's a scenario we're
heading into Survivor series. Jerry Lawler is having three nights
and Jery Lawla has been harassing Brett. So we're gonna
have family. The heart family is coming together on Thanksgiving
to come and take down this Cherry Lawler who's been mean.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Their mom and dad cool. They even have.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
The host of family feud here doing introductions more family fun.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Right wrong.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Jery Lawler doesn't even make it to this pay per
view because controversy is surrounding him at this event. Now,
before we get into this, I have a feeling wrestlers
throughout time have been accused of doing things. Sometimes are
probably guilty, sometimes are probably innocent. This was what Jerry

(09:25):
Lawler describes as a shakedown. Now Jarre Lawler is pulled
from this event because he's being charged with rape by
a thirteen year old girl.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
We already have steroids all over this company.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
We've had Hogan leave, Warrior leave, multiple of your most
popular wrestlers are gone, and now you have rape allegations
on top of one of your wrestlers who also does
commentary on the weekends for Wrestling Challenge, and he's in
a prime robbery with Bretta Hitman Heart when your main
care aracters, and we're heading into Survivor Series, one of

(10:05):
your big four pay per views, we don't have in
your house yet, we don't have all these other names yet.
So they pulled Jerry Lawler instantly from all tapings of
Wrestling Challenge.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
They pulled them from Survivor Series. Now.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
The Chargers were later dropped when the accuser recanted their comments.
Jerry Lawler has said over the years that the parents
of that little girl were there simply for a payday.
They knew the little girl was not actually raped by
Jerry Lawler, but they thought, well, if he settles out

(10:38):
of court, maybe we'll get say one hundred grand. We'll
get some money out of this guy, because we're in Memphis, Tennessee.
Jerry Lawler has He's the King of Memphis according to him,
and he has loads of money.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
He's been a popular wrestler for years.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
That's a sad part of wrestling, or even the sad
part of saying someone did something to you, because over
the years, in the real world, not just wrestling, you
can go online and see stories of this man was
in jail for ten years for rape and it turns
out the girl went on social media and joked and said,
oh yeah, he never raped me. Boom, he gets out
of jail. Okay, well, ten years went by. He's been

(11:16):
in jail for ten damn years. Because you're bullshit, lie
and you don't get in trouble for this. The starteen
year old girl saying that Jerry Lawler raped her, and
then the parents obviously wanting a payday as Jerry Lola
even says that he knew of this family, he knew
who they were, and clearly they thought payday. So that

(11:39):
ruins the Survivor series. This ruins this matchup again. The
reason we have Bruce and Keith here is because we're
supposed to be a family taking down Jerry Lawla who's
harassing our parents. So well, they replaced Jerry Lala with
Sean Michaels. Sean Michaels has not been on television for months,
In months, months so now Sean Michaels has to team

(12:02):
up with three Nights. Jerry the King Lawler makes sense
having three nights. Sean Michaels the Heartbreak Kid, it does
not make sense that he has three nights. But we
have to get this match in the ring somehow, and
we have to have the moment in the match.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Which sets up further storylines.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
I get it, but really, this Jerry Lawler situation messes
up Survivor Series nineteen ninety three in one of the
worst ways, especially the black cloud that hangs over it.
The first match, it missed it perfect. He's like, oh,
I'm not coming, so they have to get Macho Man.
Second match, Jerry Lawler can't be here, so this match
is screwed up too. Ah man, it's just and I

(12:44):
remember this because they had to record some video really
fast and get it on air to show Shawn Michaels
had suddenly a obsession with the Heart Family, to show
that he didn't like the Heart Family. I remember this
as a kid, and it was really bizarre. Now the Hearts.

(13:04):
What's great about this is you have time to set
up the scenario of what's gonna happen in the ring.
So the Hearts have been practicing this match in advance
to handle timing issues because Bruce and Keith they have
been wrestling, They've been out of the business for a
long time. But the storyline in this match really starts
when Brett Hart and Owen Hart bumping into each other

(13:26):
and Owen is eliminated. He's the only member of this
Heart Family team eliminated in this match. And when the
Heart Family wins the match, Owen runs down and he
throws down Brett Hart off the second rope they're celebrating
in it. Brett shots shoving. Excuse me, Owen starts shoving
Bret the Hitman Heart. What's happening here?

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Now?

Speaker 2 (13:47):
The families, Oh, calm down, Calm down, Calm down, countdown.
But this is the beginning. This is the seed that
is planted that eventually we lead to the Royal Rumble
in nineteen ninety four, which would have Bretta, he hit
Man Heart, and Owen Hart being a tag team against
the Quebeckers for the tag team titles.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Well, more things happen there.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Owen turns officially healed, which then sets up Wrestlmating at ten,
the first matchup of the evening it's brother versus brother,
Brett versus Owen classic. We even get Summer Some nineteen
ninety four, a world title match between Brett Hart and
Owen Heart in the Steel Cage, and it all starts
here at this Survivor series. Now, maybe Jerry Law are

(14:31):
not being here screwed up that storyline. But the Brett
Hart Owenhart part beautiful. The problem with this is Bruce
Hart is the one who pitched this. Bruce Hart pitched
to Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson that I should be eliminated.
I should be upset about this. Then I should come

(14:52):
down and do everything Owenhart did. Turn on the family,
turn on Brett Hart, wrestlmating A matches, SummerSlam matches. Bruce
Hart pitched this and Vince they were all about it.
Vince pat Patison were like, let's do this.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
But Brett Hart in his book says that he said, well,
I think it should be Owen. I think Owen deserves
this push. I think Owen deserves this moment. And guess what,
that's what happens. I would be hissed if I was Bruce.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Hart boosted.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
The cry was happy to see Stuhart though, was sitting
ringside wearing a Boston Bruins jacket. They were they were
loving Stuhart this night. And again it depends how you
look at this Divivor series storyline wise, things are adding out,
things are going well, even in the first matchup, having
Razor and Irs involved, Diesel looking strong, having one two

(15:50):
three kid in Margine Danny just dominating that match, looking
really slick in the ring. And again it helped out
a lot of talent. But mister p not here, Terry
Law is not here. We were told they'd be here,
imagining you bought a ticket for this event. Now, the
third match on the card is something that This is

(16:11):
why I describe this event as being boring, because the
next two matches just scratching your head, going.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
What's going on here?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
It's for the Smoky Mountain Wrestling Tag Team Championships.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Now, after this point we have not seen any of this.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
This has not been weeks of built up excitement for
wrestling fans. WWF fans have no idea what the hell
is happening in front of them. So you have the
Rock and Roll Express, great tag team, one of the
best in the world. Right, well, Nobody in the WWF
who is a five year old kid has any idea
who these They look old, look like old men. I'm

(16:45):
not insulting them, but at the time, if you have
no idea who they are, they have never been introduced.
Nobody who packages nothing to supply with you any information
about who the.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Hell the Rock and Roll Express is.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
That footage is probably owned by Ted Turner in WCW.
At this point, okay, they have a champions they had
taken on the Heavenly Bodies, Jigglow, Jimmy Delray and Doctor
Tom Pritchard with Jim Coronett. It goes thirteen minutes and
forty one seconds. That is too long a Survivor Series match.

(17:22):
The next one after this it only goes ten minutes
and fifty eight seconds.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
That has eight wrestlers.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
This match has four wrestlers that no one really is
interested in seeing. The crowd does not care. I didn't care. Historically,
pretty awesome to see that Smokey Mount Wrestling and Jim
Cornett are working with the WWF in more of a capacity.
Pretty awesome, right, That's cool historically, But visually, when you're

(17:47):
watching this, when you are a little boy or a
little girl. You're wondering the hell is happening? Like, it's
very baffling to watch something that you were not prepared
to see. It's survivors. See you're excited. Nope, we're gonna
get Smoking Mountain wrestling. Okay, all right, uh yeah, if

(18:11):
you like technical matches, it's pretty good if you're interested
in that stuff. But the Boston crowd was unfamiliar with
Smokey Mount wrestling. The WWF audience was unfamiliar with Smoking
Mount and wrestling, So it's not the greatest Heavenly Bodies win.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Moving on up next.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Now, if you've ever seen this image from this match,
you will finally know where it came from. It's a
foreign Forest of Harror series match. It's four Doinks versus
Bam Bam, Bigelow, Bash and Booger and the Headshrinkers. Now
we all know we've been offered four Doinks. That's the scenario,
four Doinks. We've been build into this on Superstars Wrestling Challenge,

(19:01):
a Monday night raw showcasing that four dorks will be here.
Now we have seen two Doinks at Rest Many and nine.
We have seen two Doykes, two men that look exactly
the same. They look exactly like the original Dunk, the cloud,
the baby face doing, not the helish one who would
scare children.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Four Doinks.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
We're promised this is even a video where four of
the same Doink pop up on a screen and they're
all looking at each other like the Brady Bunch.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Oh oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Service series Bambab Bigelow has had a storyline with Dunk
for a while now. So okay, we have seen two Doinks.
We're about to get four doingks. I'm excited, right, how
are they gonna do this?

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (19:45):
No, What happens is we get the Bushwhackers and men
on a mission Mowen, Mabel and Oscar who's men a
mission's manager. They're all addressed as Doink. That's the four Doinks. Bushwhacker, Luke, Butch,
Mabel and mo four Doinks. So it's just four guys

(20:05):
dressed up as a doink cosplay makeup. They're in their
regular gear, they just have their face painting. Okay, now,
if you're a little kid, you want to see four donks,
I guess you're seeing four doinks the match, though, don't
expect you know, drop toe holes and arm bars. This

(20:27):
is hilarious because again it's Thanksgiving time. So Afa, who's
the manager of the Headshrinkers, is eating a turkey carcass backstage.
He's just having a great time eating it, so he
brings it to the ringside Lunavashan same thing. So Afa
is just eating bananas. He's eating all types of foods
ringside fashion Boger, same thing. His whole character is he

(20:50):
loves food, and he's stinky and he's smelling, so he's
also eating food the whole time. Headshrinker, same thing. Bam
Bam bigelo is the only one who has a header
on his shoulder. Is is like, dude, can we stop
eating food and concentrate?

Speaker 1 (21:03):
We got four damn doinks.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
People are eliminated by getting hit in the face with
turkey carcasses, slipping on banana peels and going to eat
what you think is fruit and it's a water balloon,
so water splashes in your face and you fall over.
Then Bam Bam Bigelow gets pinned by all four men.
They all jump on top of him and they pin
Bam Bam Bigelow. So if you want a comedy, god

(21:30):
damn it, you got the comedy.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
If you want a technical wrestling, you weren't going to
get it here. I do love this. I do love
these four Doinks.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
I know some people absolutely hate it, but to me,
it's pretty funny. To me, it's one of those like, wow,
this is this is interesting. The fans did chant we
want doink, they did get four Doinks.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Technically, technically, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
It really depends how you feel about because at the
end of the match, the real Doint then appears on
screen and he's supposed to be mocking Bam bam bigelow. Okay, okay,
I've got to mention that the Smoking Mountain crossover situation.
I had it in my notes here. This is the

(22:21):
first and only time both teams appeared on WCW and
WWE pay per views.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
In the same year.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
The Rock and Roll Express, that is, but the Boston
crowd was not interested in that, not at all, not
at all though. The Four Doints, though, this is one
of those, you know, hilarious things that really get me
excited about watching these events, because sometimes you're like, I
don't know if I really want to watch this.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
You see the matches and you bereize, oh, okay, this
could be good. This could be good.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
And other weird things around this pay per view is
those nights earlier that were teaming up with Sean Michaels,
Red Night, Verry Whole, It's Blue Knight, Greg Valentine, Black
Knight supposed to beat Terry Funk Terry Funk.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Eventually he's like, yeah, I'm gonna go home. My horse
is sick, and he just leaves.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
The rumor is that vincec Man was so mad at
Terry Funk for doing that that when he returned in
the WWF in the Attitude era, they made him wear
stockings over his face and called him Chainsaw Charlie instead
of saying, this is Terry Funk, even though we all
could see through the painting hose it was Terry Funk.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Weird, weird.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Originally, each night was gonna be revealed, their masks be
pulled off, and oh my god, it's Greig Valentine, Oh
my god, it's Terry Funk.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Oh my god, it's Barry Horrowitz. I love Barry Horrowitz.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
But his surprise would not have popped me, Greg Valentine,
not even him, not even him, Terry Funk. The WWF
audience didn't know who he was he has been around
since what nineteen eighty six in the WWF some weird thoughts,
I get it, I want to get your friends at Payday,

(24:01):
but very weird thoughts around that.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
And then the main event of the evening, it's the
All Americans.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
It's Lex Luger, the Undertaker in the Steiner Brothers taking
on the foreign fanatics, Yokozuna, Ludvig Borga crush.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
In Quebecca Jacques.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
The Heels have three managers, Mister Fuji, Jim Cornett, and
Johnny Polo who is Raven later on.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
If you don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Now, originally, if you've probably seen these posters, originally it's
Lex Luger, Tatanka and the Inner Brothers. But they do
this whole big thing where Ludvig Borga takes out to
Tanka beats him. There goes to Taka's undefeated streak he
had it for about a year and a half now
about two years, and Ludwig beats him and then attacks him,

(24:50):
after which injures Tanka.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
The All Americans need replacement, and.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
They're in the rain like, oh, who's gonna be and
they announce the Undertaker is gonna be a replacement.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Holy shit, this is awesome.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Taker then comes out and opens up his coat and
inside the lining up his big trench coat is the
American flag. Now this spot is great, but you also
would hear later wrong the Undertaker?

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Would you?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Interviews, admitting he hated this idea. The Undertaker was not political.
He did not love America or foreign allies.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
He was the Undertaker. He had no allegiance to anything,
but now he loves America.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
He allowed that jacket to be destroyed by his dogs
and h and that was the end of the jacket.
Sudden he was missing. Hysic Man loved that jacket. Though
Bruce Pritchard and other podcasts have said that he loved
the idea of having Undertaker with the American flag jacket. Well,
Taker hated it and destroyed the jacket with his dogs.

(25:53):
Two Tuteloup also though to continue the storyline though on
the foreign fanatics, the Quebecer Jacques is there, but Pierre
is gone. Pco He's out of here. He gets injured
before this event and so they replace him. They have
a lex Luger knock him out with his foreign plate.

(26:15):
He had a foreign object in his arm, a metal
plate that was a big storyline for Lex Luger around
this time where he had to wear an arm guard
so he wouldn't hit you with his metal plate in
his arm. Cool stuff, but a little helish. So we
have to replace Pierre with Crush. So now Crush is

(26:38):
part of the team. He's also a bad guy, and
remember he has beef with the Macho Man.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
I do like this match.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
It's not very exciting, like I said, like, it's very slow,
very methodical, but Luger pins Ludwan Borgie here and that's
the end of the match. You know, Santa Claus comes
out and Lex Luger is celebrating with Santa Claus.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
You're like, yeah, Thanksgiving, Santa. This matchup does set up
a joke.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
But this match does set up Undertaker and Yoko Zuna
because in this match, we've never seen Yoko Zuna, who
is the world champion, we have never seen him up
with Undertaker.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Yet we're gonna get a multiple matches with these two.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yet here's the beginning, and I'll never forget the spot
where yoko Zuna slams from Taker's.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Head on the steel steps outside.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Taker pops up, whips his hair, rolls his eyes and
looks at Yoko.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yoko looks scared, and that's.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
The beginning of Undertaker and Yoko's in which you get
us into what Rubble nineteen ninety four where Taker is
put inside of a casket and there's green smoke and
there's so many heels showing up. But this is the
beginning of that storyline. Out of this matchup, no other
storyline carries over Lex Luger. He goes on to being

(28:00):
one of the winners of the Royal Rumble in nineteen
ninety four. The Steiner brothers eventually leave the ww E
Ludvig Borga he's done crushing Macha Man have a storyline,
and Jacques would quit the WWF at restimating a tent,
and that's the end of Jacques and the Quebecers and
the WWF up until nineteen ninety eight. They'll come back

(28:21):
for a little bit and then boff Jack does not
return to the WWF. So in reality, though, it's an
interesting pay per view with a lot of history surrounding it,
a lot of history. Terry Funk leaving mister perfects out
of here, boy the brainyeanes last WWF pay per view,

(28:43):
Jerry Lawler's controversy the Knights.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Yeah, my horse is sick. I think he's dying. Vincent
like that shit. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
So all in all, though, I think the best thing
about this pay per view it sets up Owen Hart
and Brett Hart for the next year in storylines.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Again.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
The by rate, though, dropped twenty eight percent from nineteen
ninety two, lowest pay per view by rate in the
company up to this point.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
And again, the Boston Garden closed and this was the
last pay per review for the Boston Garden. And we
would have Russmania fourteen in the Fleet Center in nineteen
ninety eight. But there you go, folks, the history of
the nineteen ninety three Survivor series. A lot of weird,
wild stuff happened around this event, and there you go.

(29:45):
Thank you for watching the history of the nineteen ninety
three Survivor series right here on the Wrestling History Channel.
I'm Steve, have a wonderful day and we'll see you
next time.
