Matt (00:01):
What's going on everybody? The world is a better place
because you're here to join us.My name is Matt Brown and I am
the host of the productiveconversations and another urgent
productive conversation must behad straight off the presses at
04:02PM on Monday, June 2025.President Donald J. Trump said

(00:24):
this on Truth Social.
Congratulations to everyone. Ithas been fully agreed by and
between Israel and Iran thatthere will be a complete and
total ceasefire in parenthesisin approximately six hours from
now when Israel and Iran havewound down and completed their

(00:46):
in progress final missions fortwelve hours, at which point the
war will be considered ended.Officially, Iran will start the
ceasefire and upon the twelfthhour, Israel will start the
ceasefire and upon the twentyfourth hour, an official end to
the twelve day war will besaluted by the world during each

(01:09):
ceasefire. The other side willremain peaceful and respectful
on the assumption thateverything works as it should,
which it will. I would like tocongratulate both countries,
Israel and Iran, on having thestamina, courage, and
intelligence to end what shouldbe called the the quote twelve

(01:31):
day war.
This is a war that could havegone on for years and destroyed
the entire Middle East but itdidn't and never will. God bless
Israel. God bless Iran. Godbless the Middle East. God bless
The United States Of America andgod bless the world.
That was said and hosted byDonald J. Trump, president of

(01:52):
The United States. So, yes, alsothe tale of the the tale of the
story here. President Trumpannounced a complete and total
ceasefire between Iran andIsrael. The ceasefire is phased
in over twenty four hoursbrokered with the help of Qatar
and Turkey, two countries withdiplomatic access to both sides.

(02:14):
Trump's statement, quote, stopping the bloodshed and
avoiding full scale war. Why isthis a big deal? The past twelve
days saw the most intensefighting between Iran and Israel
in decades. Missile exchanges, cyber attacks, regional
spillover has escalated quickly. This has been one of the few
moments of direct US mediationbetween the two adversaries.

(02:38):
Trump's reemergence into foreignpolicy conversations adds to the
political weight as well. Whatare the global and regional
reactions? Israel, mixedresponse. Some far right leaders
skeptical of pausing militarypressure on Iran. Others are
relieved.
Iran itself, state mediacautiously optimistic, or the
military has not officiallycommented yet, but they did

(02:59):
comment with Reuters that theyagreed to a ceasefire. United
States allies, NATO, and theEuropean Union largely support
the de escalation questionsabout Trump's legitimacy as a
mediator, though. The Gulfstates like Saudi Arabia
monitoring closely, concernedabout Iran's growing influence
in the region. And can thisceasefire actually hold?

(03:19):
Historia says, historians saynot likely unless followed by
diplomacy and concessions.
No word on long term issues likenuclear enrichment has bullet
involvement and further cyberattacks and this positions
Trump. Will this position Trumpas a peacemaker? Could this move
contrast any of the previousadministration's foreign styles

(03:42):
especially regarding the MiddleEast times will tell critics do
add that Trump is capitalizingon chaos that he helped foster
himself. And that's a tale ofthe tape and the notes I have
there. But regardless, at thistime, time of this recording and
this episode drop, Ron andIsrael have agreed to a

(04:03):
ceasefire, which I'm sure allpeople can agree on.
I have Ron Page here to add histhoughts and insights on the
matter. I would love to hearwhat you gotta say, mister Page.

Ryan (04:13):
Yeah. I'm personally just glad that, yeah, we have another
emergency podcast, but for muchbetter circumstances than the
last one, which was when we, ofcourse, got directly involved in
the fighting with our missionwith the Bunker Busters. I think
this might even surprise Matt tosay, I think a lot of what we're
hearing from historians, whilemaybe technically true, is just

(04:38):
honestly, not relevant rightnow, but it's not relevant right
now. We're twenty four hoursaway from peace in the Middle
East. We got away withdestroying their peace in the
Middle East.
No,

Matt (04:48):
I love that term. I've heard forever.

Ryan (04:50):
Oh, yeah. And obviously, yeah. And to be clear, there's
Israel and the whole Gazasituation that's not ending
right now. But this could havebeen a bad war, as the President
pointed out. And we're twentyfour hours away as long as
everything goes as it's supposedto from an ending.
We, meeting The United States, went in and dropped, like, 12
missiles on Iran. And all we gotwas, like, one missile to an air

(05:17):
force base in Qatar. Like, that's that's all we had that's
the only price we had to pay fordirectly getting involved
destroying their nuclear programthey've been building for thirty
years, apparently. So I think weshould just take this.
Obviously, again, twenty fourhours till this till the war
ends, as as Trump said, by theway.

(05:37):
That's that was in his tweet. Sophase one starts, phase two
comes after that. As long asboth sides, by the end of phase
two, have honored the agreementand not attacked one another,
there will be, at least for theshort term, peace between the
two nations, and we're a lotmore likely to see lasting peace
if they're not actively shootingeach other. So I think this is

(06:02):
the critical first step. Socautiously optimistic.
Again, we have to make itthrough twenty four hours, but
we've already gone throughtwelve days and nothing broke
irreparably. So hopefully I'mhopeful that the next twenty
four hours will end well. And itwill end well not just for those
two countries, obviously, butfor us because that was a big

(06:23):
thing. What's gonna happen toour soldiers overseas? Seems
like at the moment, nothing, which is good.
We don't want Americans to behurt. But, yeah, I don't know
about, like, the long term. Idon't think we should sit here
and proclaim totally fixed. Noone's ever gonna fight over
those two nations ever again. That's like but that would be

(06:44):
unfair to claim that, even, youknow and I'm a skeptic of the
president.
And I would even I know that'sunfair to be like, oh, yeah. You
did one thing and now twonations with beef will never,
ever fight ever again. That's acrazy standard. But if it holds
and ends this week, theconflict, then that's, I I

(07:04):
think, huge huge for peace, hugefor both nations, and frankly,
for the president who was takinga lot of flack, I think
rightfully so, for dropping thebombs initially and getting
involved. But if you're gonnaget involved, wrapping it up
within twenty four hours aftergetting involved is definitely
the best way to do it.
You know what I mean? So if youif you're gonna put your nose in

(07:26):
there, then you you want it toend like this. And so I think
that this was the best outcomewe could have had given our
previous actions, and that'sgood. That means he was able to
get the deal done.

Matt (07:38):
Three straight shows on this. Three straight. And

Ryan (07:43):
And we wrapped up in two. It's like it started, it
escalated, and then it finishedin a row.

Matt (07:49):
All within a weekend. A little more fun. Yeah. 12.

Ryan (07:53):
I mean, our our involvement was about a weekend.
Yeah. The American involvementwas about a weekend. The whole
thing was like twelve days.Yeah.

Matt (08:00):
But, yeah, I mean, I've just. I feel great on this, at
least at this moment, living inthe moment. We could take that
as the whim. I know there'speople with various opinions
that they're entitled to thisworld but at least for today,

(08:20):
you can hopefully sleep a littlecalmer. Of course, we got a long
ways to go in general.
But Yeah. Exactly. I thinkthat's just the word for today.
And why is it poor enough togive the show this its own own
podcast, know, figuring out waysto ways to handle it. You know,

(08:41):
fundamentally, then it makessense to put this and then talk
about a trade in the NBA or howto shoot your shot or two
streaming services.
This is another big deal.

Ryan (08:54):
Been inappropriate. Yeah. War in The Middle East. How to
shoot your shot? Oh, boy.
That would've been horrible.

Matt (09:00):
But, you know, I do appreciate your patience, Ryan,
with this. I know, you know, wehad our figuring out ways to go
back and forth. I generally meanthat. And sticking to it and
being able to still do this aswell. There's various opinions,
especially when somethinghappens right now.
But now that we're recordingapproximately five hours since

(09:23):
this and have been putting it onthe news next to me of a TV. I
have a four box with fourdifferent sources. All claiming
their things. They're sayingwhat they have to do to adhere
to their demographics. But atthe end of the day, the core
thing is the fact there is somesemblance of a ceasefire and
peace and even with thisadministration, whether you like

(09:44):
it or not, it doesn't matter.
It's the idea of The UnitedStates Of America being involved
in something peaceful whetheryou know, again, you could
argue. Should they've been therein the first place? That's a
that's a fair argument but atleast you know, was telling
somebody this and who you know, has various opinions different

(10:08):
than mine. I said, well, youdon't have a time machine. You
can't go back to stop it in thefirst place.
So what can we do now in themoment?

Ryan (10:16):
Right. And that's true. I think that's 100% true. You can
dislike that we went and peopleshould. I

Matt (10:20):
do. We

Ryan (10:22):
did we did. Right? There's no way around that. So this is,
like I said, the best ending. Ido want to say, and this is the
main part of what I wanted tosay when we were having our
internal conversations.
And I've been seeing it on myfeed. And I think my feed is
probably a lot like the peoplewho I'm talking about right now
on social media. You're going tosee a ton of people try and tell

(10:45):
you that this isn't true. Thereis no evidence. You can and I'm
saying this to someone again, ifyou've listened to our show
before, you know how I think.
So I'm with you guys. I'm withyou guys. Reuters has this. The
Guardian has this. ABC News hasthis.
Everyone has this.

Matt (11:05):
Productive Conversations has.

Ryan (11:06):
Productive Conversations has this. We've been on it since
the beginning. I'm not sayingright now with a 100% certainty
that after this you know, asthese ceasefire as these periods
of peace begin, that when we getto the other side, it'll all be
perfect. I don't know. No oneknows.
The time machine being cuts bothways, but this is true. This is

(11:26):
happening. What we can't do islet the fear ratchet up in our
country over misinformation.Misinformation is a real
problem, and I know it's a reala lot of times we associate it
with one type of misinformation, and that's fine. But there's
other types, including the typesand this is the time that I'll
use it, even though I've beenpushing back on Matt for two

(11:49):
episodes straight about thisnow.
This is where the fear mongeringmisinformation comes in. Taking
a victory or at least thesemblance of a victory and
making it a loss, making it adefeat, making people scared
about it. Don't let that happen.Be on your guard. Don't let
people push you around and saythis isn't real.
It is real. Will it work? Whoknows? Nobody knows anything but

(12:10):
it's real and that's that aloneis worth celebrating.

Matt (12:15):
Exactly, man. And I feel, you know, that's really all we
have to say regarding this andthis update. It's a great thing,
Shor Suite. I feel this is anappropriate way to end. Why
don't we see our new favoritecontent creator, John Cho, the
cool history teacher?
See what he said he does exactlyhalf an hour ago from this? I I

(12:37):
haven't I haven't watched theclip, so I so,

Ryan (12:40):
you know, we're gonna follow So

Matt (12:42):
let's just see what John Cho says and not the crazy Jeff
who we had the other way.

Ryan (12:48):
Yeah.

Matt (12:48):
I don't have his opinion on this, but we have mister Cho
here. Let's see what he says.

John Cho (12:57):
That this twelve day war. So it appears that this
twelve day war between Iran andIsrael is over or at the very
least deescalating. However, none of you should be surprised
by this, and I'll tell you howwe got here. So earlier today,
we found out that Iranretaliation toward The United
States was by targeting a USbase in Qatar. First of all, the

(13:21):
Iranians gave Qatar plenty ofnotice that this was coming.
Qatar then told The UnitedStates. So there were no
casualties, no injuries, nodeaths. Iran launched the same
number of missiles to that USbase today that we launched over
the weekend to those threeIranian nuclear facilities.

(13:46):
Coincidence? I think not.
This is Iran's MO. It's alwaysbeen. Let me give you a quick
history lesson. Back in Januaryof twenty twenty, The US killed
then Iranian general QasemSoleimani. And what did Iran do
to retaliate against The UnitedStates?
They bombed a US base in Iraq, but they gave us the heads up

(14:11):
that this was coming. So therewas hardly any casualties in
that one too. This is Iran's MO.All of these retaliatory
measures by Iran is justposturing. It's just them trying
to flex for their citizenssaying, look.
We did something back. We didn'tjust stand back and take it. We

(14:32):
fought back. And this time, thiswas pure, 100% a show. Because
if Iran continued down thispath, their leadership was gonna
be overthrown.
So to save face, they had to dothis fake retaliation. But this
is not the first time they'vedone this. So it appears that

(14:52):
this twelve day war

Matt (14:53):
Thank you, mister Cho.

Ryan (14:56):
Yeah. I've the Soleimani. Yeah. Same thing. They bombed
the base after we killed theirgeneral.
Helps that I mean, not fornothing. It's gonna be horrible.
Helps that a bunch of theterrorist groups have actually
very recently been destroyed byThe US and Israel too. Yeah.
Have those extra guys on theground to help them out.
But recently, they've not beenhaving such a good time with the

(15:19):
whole cell phone thing. Wetalked about that. And then
remember when the signal chatleaked? Yes, that was against
Iranian backed terrorists aswell. So we destroyed a bunch of
their stuff on that one.
So, yeah, they're they'rerunning out of, you know, their
their extra or I don't wanna sayspecial forces or whatever, but

(15:39):
they're running out of theirmilitia groups too, which is
probably helpful in determininghow you go forward. Yeah,
exactly. Take a win when we getone.

Matt (15:47):
Take a win when we get one. I think that is a perfect
way to end this. Just a simplequick show on this reacting to
instant reaction to theceasefire between Iran and
Israel. So we'll take that. Justalso check out our tweet cap for
today for the fun stuff thathappened over the weekend.
And, you know, got a shot. I gota sports recap on Wednesday,

(16:14):
Magic Mind Thursday. We're we'regonna hold off the AI till next
month because I had enough of

Ryan (16:20):
Too much negative with this whole Yeah. This whole
stuff. Yeah.

Matt (16:23):
But then another tree cap Friday, then it'll take the week
off in a, you know, celebrationof America week with the fourth
of July. Anyways, great work. Wewill see you all soon.
