Join us for a very honest, beautiful discussion on dealing with grief. Karen Houck lost her daughter, Alyssa, in November of 2011. She describes her grief as 'a bag of rocks that you carry with you wherever you go.' After laying on the couch for many months, she realized she couldn't quit, so she started Alyssas Wishes, an organization dedicated to preserving the memory of her daughter by focusing on acts of kindness, fostering community connections, and promoting literacy. One of those acts of kindness includes painting rocks with words of encouragement and leaving them for others to find. You can read more about Karen's organization at www.alyssaswishes.org
Perseverance...the word usually has a negative connotation. On Profiles in Perseverance, Jackie Doyel and Dave Gilbert look at Perseverance in a positive light by interviewing people from all walks of life who have gone through difficult circumstances in life, persevered, and can now give hope to others. You'll enjoy this fun, witty, but real look at life and gain some inspiration from it!
Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
