(00:01):
In this League podcast that word presentProspect one. So Fantasy prospect Podcast Prospect
one with your host Chris Wels. This is the Fantasy Baseball prospect podcast Prospect
one. I am your host,Chris Welsh. You can find on Twitter
(00:21):
at is It the Welsh on Instagramat is It the Welsh? Two different
kind of beings. Those are usuallyit's just fun pictures, maybe a video
or two on Instagram if you wantto go over there, but I do
suggest you follow. And all theother stuff is over on the ex the
Twitter. Lots of videos lately tryingto bring the Arizona Fall League to you
with some of the top prospects. The main place though you can find me
(00:44):
is over at in this League dotcom. That is the Patreon where I
finally dropped an update on the Topfive hundred prospect list, which is actually
just going to lead me into droppingit right at the beginning of November.
But I just kept procrastinating. There'sjust something about like I'm like, I'm
not happy here, not happy here. I have a very specific deep dive
that I want to do into afew things, and I hadn't gotten to
(01:07):
it, but there was just somuch change it was appropriate to drop the
ranks update. Plus, the ArizonaFall League has definitely moved a decent amount
of these players up and down indifferent directions. So if you want to
check out that, you want tocheck out the upcoming Dynasty list, prospect
wonadps, my Live Arizona Notebook, which I have lots of notes from each
(01:30):
team, each game, lots ofstuff if you want to check it out.
And the group me rooms where youcan have access to me and the
community talking prospects and more. Inthis league dot com. In this league
dot com takes you to the Patreonand that is a great way to support
me, and I appreciate when youdo if that's your thing, because that's
the type of stuff that allows meto get out to these games and continue
doing this stuff, and you know, also places potentially wanting to bring me
(01:53):
on with the interest in the prospectworld. So today on the episode,
it is Arizona Fall League Week tworecap. We're into week three. This
is a day later that I wantedit to be, but I ended up
pulling a double header yesterday before Icould get the episode done, and it
was kind of appropriate to a littlebit of what we're going to talk about
here. So just like last week, I'm going to go through a few
(02:15):
of the week two hot bats andpitchers. I'll go through a couple deep
plays that you guys might want topay attention to, and a couple players
that have been on the struggle bus. I've also got a breakdown of a
player that I actually want to talkI want to see if I can get
to this player and talk to himabout it, because I assume this player
(02:36):
knows this thing. But it's oneof those things I found in video.
I think that's always interesting. Also, I was sitting with my with one
of my friends last night watching someof the games. It is so unique
when you watch this many different prospectsthat are in like the top ish.
You know, no, it's notthe AFL is not the greatest this year,
(02:57):
but it's in the upper range ofprospects, and just the the quirks,
the different corks you see. Idon't I think sometimes I pay attention
to it. Sometimes it's just kindof out of sight, out of mind.
But from the Kyle Manzardo dancy tippytoes he has before a pitch comes
in to Jce Young's incredibly unique somethingI'd like to ask him about batting stance
(03:21):
where he actually, like I'm tryingto think of what it's almost similar to
how a player would like putt andhe has his wrists in completely two different
directions, and then he has thebat pointing in the opposite direction, you
know, like Gary Sheffield have itlike forward, and then they're then the
more predominant way is to have itover their shoulder, like he almost brings
it outside of the shoulder to somethingwe saw with aj Vukovich where he was
(03:46):
putting a finger over a finger againlike he was going to hit an iron.
There's just so many unique different quirksof all these players that it'd be
it'd be fun to uncover. Butsometimes some of them equate to good or
bad things. And that's one ofthe things with one of the pictures that
I want to talk about here, and we'll be doing that here in just
a minute. The Arizona First PitchConference is coming up pretty soon. Hopefully
(04:09):
I will see some of you guysout there. I looks tentatively like I'm
going to be a part of twopodcasts, live podcasts that'll be going on
at the venue. I don't knowthe times yet. It's looking like one
might be late one of the nights, and one might be early day,
but then John Saturday. I'll bea part a couple of those. I'm
(04:30):
also doing the rookie draft. Behonestly, they don't even know one hundred
percent of what I'm doing outside ofjust drafting what I presume would be rookies
are going to produce in twenty twentyfour. But it's with like Clegg and
Blessing and a bunch of smart people, and I don't know. I don't
remember if they do something with thatat the conference because I've never been a
part of it. But I'm alsodoing that, so quite a few things
(04:51):
going on. I will be outat the conference doing stuff, hanging around,
watching games, hanging with people. So if you're out there, comes
say hi. It should be good. And I guess I'm preemptively telling you
we're going to be doing a livepodcasts that Baseball HQ is also going to
be broadcasting, and I can thinkthis is a first time, so it's
(05:12):
gonna be rates and barrels and CBS. I don't know. Again, I
don't know all the logistics. Iknow that HQ is talking about having a
live video feed on their website whenthose are going down, and then I
didn't know if you know, likeCBS was going to broadcast it, but
they'll be on the podcast feeds atsome point, but you'll also be able
to watch it live. So butif that's of interest, make sure you're
just kind of locked into all ofus. Follow me at is It the
(05:34):
Welsh on Twitter and we'll let youknow when those are going to go down,
because if you'd like you could watchthem live. They can get kind
of crazy. You know, abunch of baseball people at night games are
over little drinking. You know, audiences can get rowdy, and they get
pretty good audiences. Bubba and RyanBloomfield killed it last year and they probably
(05:54):
had I mean I didn't see abunch of them that they had a packed
house and they were doing some thinkbloom Bloomfield trivia board something like that,
and they just had a full onroom. So I don't know, we'll
see, but'd love to have youtune into those and you can probably interact
and do all the fun stuff. So Week two has been pretty wild on
the Arizona Follo because we're gonna bebreaking it down, and as I preface
(06:15):
in the last episode, you know, you got to be careful about especially
in small doses. And this iswhat can be very dangerous about when people
come and see players for three days, about making your decisions, because you
know, we haven't. We havea little inverse. A player that was
on the top performers and a playerthat was on on the struggle bus have
(06:35):
completely flipped this past week and weektwo. And it comes to this.
So my dear friend Dennis Sidler fromSIDS Grafts you can check out at sidsgrafs
dot com help sponsor episodes. He'sgot a great list of clients and one
of those is Kyle Manzardo who's outhere and he just did a signing with
(06:56):
Kyle Manzardo, which I highly suggestyou go check out cards bats all the
great stuff. He's obviously changed teamsnow, so guardians fans might want to
check it out. And I don'tthink he would mind me sharing this because
I don't think it was a superpersonal thing because sometimes, like you know,
I get stuff, share it ornot. And you know, he's
doing the signing with Kyle Kayw's afunny guy. Good guy, and they
were talking about it and he goes. He goes, you know what's really
(07:20):
tough out here is sitting, andit's like oh, and he goes.
For him, it's a little bitdifferent because you know, he had been
out I think up until like theAll Star break and then kind of comes
back and you know, has someconsistent at bats. But in general,
I think for any player, youcome out here and you don't play every
day, you don't get the opportunityto play every day. You know,
(07:41):
he is playing roughly four days aweek. And as he said, he
said, if you're struggling, thelast thing on the planet you want to
do is go and sit. Youwant to work on it, you want
to get it fixed, you wantto work through the struggles. Going and
sitting can some just can sometimes justfurther the problem. He didn't say this,
by the way I'm saying that islike, you know, you going
(08:05):
in city, you lose that rhythm, you lose what you're working on,
You get into your head a littlebit more. And then he said,
but if you're hot, the worstthing to do is go and sit.
The worst thing you want to dowhen you're on an absolute string is to
sit and start losing that rhythm. So that's what's uniquely difficult sometimes about the
Arizona Fall League. Outside of onemore thing, players are tired. There
(08:28):
is a player I won't name whoit was, but it was just like,
my body needs a rest. I'mexhausted, body needs a chill,
and that's something that these guys aredealing with. All of this is just
to kind of say, like mepersonally, I'm trying to look for like
the intangible stuff. I'm trying notto read maybe too much. Carson Williams
(08:50):
is a prime example of this.I think, like I told you,
Carson Williams statistically still performing well.Every time I see him, he doesn't
look good. I don't I thinkhe but he might be exhibiting tired.
I think he's behind on a lotof pitches. He hits a lot of
stuff into the ground right now.I don't think I've ever seen and I've
seen him five or six games.I don't think I've ever seen a ball
(09:11):
get in the air like not evento like a fly ball. It's grounds,
it's strikeouts, it's behind on pitches, but it also has it has
a kind of representation of a guythat does seem tired. He's also walking
a lot out here, and youknow, the biggest issue has been his
strikeouts. You know, so likemaybe he's being a little bit patient sometimes
that patients I think can be frustratingfor hitters. It's not for him.
(09:37):
Like Eric Brown the other day walkedand he like slammed his bat down and
a little audible thing because he wantsto hit. He wants to get that
rhythm out there. I don't seethat from Carson Williams. But should I
hold all of that against him andbe like, oh no, probably not.
That's so that's ultimately what's very difficultabout analyzing these type of things.
So you know, what you dotry to take is you want to pay
(09:58):
attention to a pro which maybe howthey approach different type of pitches, the
swings coming out of the box, what the raw power looks like, is
it doubles, but you know, those type of things. But even at
the same time, like Ivan Melndezis another one of those guys. He
just hasn't looked good to me.But you know, he could be tired.
You're physically doing a whole lot.He had a full season go and
then you're doing this again here playingthird base. He seems like a little
(10:22):
behind on pitches, So I haven'tdetermined yet for myself. Am I picking
apart him being behind? Am Ipicking apart some of the pitch recognition?
Like what's the thing? And it'sa fine line and it's a dance to
do. But sometimes there are thingsthat are very prominent and we're going to
talk about. We're going to talkabout comments Arto because he's been going nuts.
(10:43):
We're gonna talk about quite a fewguys. So, like I said,
I've got big performers, digging deep, struggle bus. Those are some
of the things we're going to gothrough. But before we do a break,
I'm going to talk about one playerand something very interesting with him,
and I'm hoping to get a holdof him just kind of see if I
can figure out what's up what thisis about. And it's about Ricky Tiedeman.
(11:07):
Now there's also a very interesting articlethat came out the other day from
Keith Law. Because I got messagedabout it my very good friend Joe Rico
from Etho's Sports hit me up andhe's like, is this do you buy
this? And what it was wasKeith Law essentially saying it felt like two
(11:28):
parts. One of the parts Icould agree with. The other part I
thought was, I don't know kindof Keith Law like. It was like
his approach to things, and whichis fine. He deserves that. I've
seen him out here. I've seenhim out I have no relationship with Keith
Law outside of we both do stuffat the Athletic. I don't know him,
but I've seen I saw him prettymuch the entire week last week.
(11:50):
I don't think he's here this week, but he was there all last week,
and so he doesn't work. Hegoes out there very well respected for
what he does. He said,A, we should maybe temper our expectations
about Ricky Teeman. I do agreewith that. B he looks like he
would be a good long relief guy. And that was like whoa, because
(12:11):
that was saying, let me seeif I can actually pull up the exact
thing. So I'm not I don'tthink I'm butchering anything, but here it
is. He goes, b bubu bup. He says on TSN ten
fifty in Toronto, he goes,I think, if you're the Blue Jays
front office, in the back ofyour mind, you have to change your
expectations a little bit. If Iwould have stopped there, I would agreed,
(12:33):
and then he goes Teeaman might endup being a good part of a
relief cores when a year ago theywere thinking they might have a number two
starter and that was keithaw after watchingI don't know if you watched both,
but he watched one of Teeman.I've seen two of three starts from Ricky
Teedeman. So Joe is like,is this what do you think about this?
(12:56):
Well, the guy I wanted tomention here something I found is with
Ricky Tiedeman. So what have Isaid so far as if we as we've
watched him and I did the lastepisode, Well that I think he has
the best change up here. Ithink he's a pretty slick pitch mixed guy.
He can pitch from behind. He'snot afraid to throw you a couple
(13:18):
early change ups in the zone, out of the zone, and then he'll
bring the fastball in and the slider'sfine. The fastball is struggled though it's
been sitting ninety two ninety three touchesninety five. Occasionally it's usually without command,
and command is his problem, youknow, he can get a little
bit wild sometimes. But you know, even though the fastball isn't great,
(13:41):
I think it's some of the armaction that makes it play better. And
then the fastball sets up the changeup, and he can command that change
up whenever he wants. Like that'sthe other thing. The command comes with
the change up. The fastball lacksthe command. That's also why I think
he's here throwing soft than he's thrownbefore, because you know, you look
(14:01):
at scouting reports and I've watched gameson MiLB dot TV. It's it ninety
four ninety five. He is notdoing that here. It is consistently ninety
two ninety three with an a likeI said, being, here's a ninety
five, here's a ninety six,and it's usually up and away. A
couple occasional strikeouts in like a ninetyfour up. So maybe that's part of
(14:22):
that. You know, Let's let'ssee if we can command this stuff better
by bringing the v low down. There's another thought that that arm injury,
that kind of scaryish arm injury thatwas floating around in mid season. I'd
heard some stuff too that it mightequal something even worse. Never happened,
but maybe we're compensating for an arminjury that's out there. So far,
(14:43):
statistically, in three starts, RickyTiedeman on paper looks pretty damn good.
Two seven seventy RA. He haseighteen strikeouts, which leads the Arizona Fall
League. He has a one whipon five walks, so eighteen strikeouts to
five walks in thirteen innings pitched. He has given He's hit two batters,
(15:05):
one of which was Kyle Manzardo. He's given up one homer, which was
to was that Dominic Keegan? Maybemaybe that was I think I have it
on video. And he's given upfour earned runs and eight hits. So
that's the stat line that's pretty good. A one to eighty two batting average
against which m let's take a lookfor a guy throwing double digit innings,
(15:28):
that's the third best. Daniel Davisand Brayden Net have lower batting average that
have pitched at least double digit innings, and then Ricky Tiedeman. So statistically
he's been great, which, bythe way, I think is a testament
to what's what have been some ofthe underperformers that he's still performing at a
(15:50):
very high level. Now the talentpool out here maybe a little bit questionable,
but there's still really good players.I mean the other day that lineup
that Tiedeman win against Impuria, hewas going up against Manzardo and he was
going up against the Laughter and Ithink Ryan Bliss and you know that that
crew of Peoria, like that's agood team that he faced. So what's
the issue. Well, the thingthat I saw and I'm going to put
(16:11):
it out on Twitter, I'll dothe screenshots of it. No, I
was just watching the video and Iand I realized something that he has a
different hand slot and slight arm slotfor different pitches, and that's horrible.
I mean that's he's tipping his pitches. He's not tipping it in a you
(16:32):
know, finger placement way, He'stipping it that his arm angle literally shows
what's going to go. So Istarted to experiment with it, and I
every video I had, I wouldstop right before the release and I would
guess what the pitch was, andI was right ninety nine percent of the
time. There's one time that hethrew a fastball out of what I'm calling
(16:56):
his breaking pitch release and that's notgood. So I a great screenshot with
some back drop placement that really showsthis because what happens is when he throws.
And now here's the only thing Ihaven't discerned. I haven't discerned between
the slider and the changeup. Butthe angle of his throat is the same.
Is he comes across his body onwhat would that be like a ninety
(17:19):
degree angle where his arm is,and he's a little bit more whippy on
the back end of his arm,and the arm is a tiny bit more
and the whippiness might be the slider, by the way, but his arm
is ninety degree angle and a littlebit more whip when it's fastball. Now
let's bring it up to probably Idon't know, let's call it a seventy
(17:41):
degree angle. A seventy degree angleup that is always the fastball except for
one instance, at least what Ihave on video, and I went through
two starts, and it was everysingle time, and I look at that,
and I go, that can't begood that you're doing that. Does
he? So here are the russionsto myself. A. Does he know
he's doing that? B he knowsthat he's doing that, and he doesn't
(18:03):
care. See, he knows thathe's doing it because of a reason,
and maybe it's injury. Those arethe three things that are floating in my
mind. Now. You can alsosay, if he's tipping like this and
guys are still not getting to him, that's actually impressive. That is that
is still impressive because I assume ifI can take two minutes of a video
(18:27):
and figure this out, every hittingcoach and every person out here they've got
to beat on it because they're actuallypretty hardcore about this stuff. The other
day, there was a change ofpicture and it was I have a picture
of it. Ah man, I'mforgetting who the people were. I'd have
to go back and look at mypictures, but there were there was two
guys that they came back over tothe dugout and then they got with the
(18:48):
coaches on iPads and they started goingthrough you know, this is what this
guy's about. They were talking aboutthe pitches. So it's like they got
to know this stuff. So ifhe doesn't know, that's crazy. If
he does know, there's something nefariousin that where he just say, is
a screw it. You know, these guys still aren't hitting me. They
have an under two hundred batting average. I'm still racking up strikeouts, it
(19:08):
doesn't matter or you know, there'ssomething else that's going on with it.
So that's what I want to figureout. So I'll probably tweet about this
with Ricky Tiedeman. Hopefully I canget to him and maybe find out a
little bit more. But I knowthe stuff you know from Keith Law about
Ricky Tiedeman had Blue Jays fans reallyworried. Here's what I would say.
I lowered him in my ranks.I'm not The fastball really bothers me.
(19:33):
I love the change up. Isaid it a year or something ago.
He reminded me of like another ShaneMcClanahan version. The problem is McLanahan before
Tommy John could pump you know, high nineties up in the zone, and
he doesn't do that. But he'sgot that same like I can throw it.
I could throw three straight change upsto you to start in a bat
and you're not gonna hit it.That's what I love about him. The
(19:56):
command issues are not like McClanahan doesn'thave those command issues. Tiedament does.
And then you've also got a questionablefastball. So I moved him down in
my ranks. He's no longer nearthat top echelon of pitchers. But I
don't believe when I look at him, I don't go like he has to
go into relief. That's the onlyway it can work. I don't think.
So I think I should talk tohim. I should figure out like
(20:19):
he might purposely be bringing the VLOdown here. We should know that if
that's the case, because then Ithink, then I think we have misinformation
of thinking this is a ninety twomile an hour fastball guy. How can
he keep starting and with command issues? So I want to find out a
little bit more. But I don'tthink it would behoove the team to view
(20:40):
him as a pitcher that can't godeep into game. I see no reason
why he can't go five or sixinto games outside of the command falling apart
for him and making sure the fastballworks. So I agree temper expectations on
Ricky Tiedeman, but I don't thinkthat means he has to become relief.
Could he? We never say never? You know, Nate Pearson had three
pitches but he couldn't command it.But he was also throwing one hundred and
(21:02):
four and he goes into relief.I think it behooves every team to push
their pitching prospects as much as possibleto see if you can get him as
a starter. And Teetaman has manyintangibles to be a starter. It's just
fastball, command and delivery issues areall staring at me and that's not a
good sign. So I did notbury him. I don't do that.
(21:25):
I moved him down. I movedhim. I had him above Robbie Snelling
before. He is not above RobbieSnelling now, But I mean like but
after like Snelling and schemes, Andif you want to throw Yamamoto in there,
I don't know. I don't knowif it's warranted to have to go
and throw the rest of the pitchingprospects in there. Again. I want
to find out a little bit moreinformation, and hopefully I can. But
(21:48):
that was my assessment on Ricky Teeman. If you're concerned or thinking about it,
the numbers have been great. Heis being in more controlled settings out
here, which kind of does speakto relief, and he's able to make
it work. What's gonna happen whenhe has deep pitches going five or six,
and what happens when the league knowsa little bit more about the fastball
and what happens if these guys knowabout the arm angle change. You know,
(22:11):
what works in favor for him isthe quick release. I think he
has a quick release, but youknow, from a video standpoint, I
can absolutely see what pitch is coming, and unfortunately, at this stage of
how he's playing, if I wereto see the seventy degree angle, I'm
not swinging because he doesn't throw hisfastball for enough strikes. But I guess
(22:32):
you also have to determine what fastballis coming. Is it the ninety two
mile an hour version, which hecan command better, or is it the
you know, ninety five mile anhour that has no chance of hitting the
zone. And that's the tricky part. So Ricky Tietman, it's a unique
situation and hopefully we will find outmore very very soon. But between it's
so funny because I had planned totalk about this for the last four or
(22:53):
five days, and then the KeithLos stuff came out about him being in
relief, and I was like,oh, man, that definitely wasn't how
I was going to take it whatsoever. But there definitely were some concerns.
So I don't know, Ricky Teitawill be pitching again soon, and hopefully
I'll be able to yap with himshortly. All right, let's take a
quick break. We come back.Let's break down all the stuff from Week
(23:14):
two of the Arizona Fall League.Shay, I like you. I like
you so much. I'm going tomake you my partner. All he has
to do is find the gold andI'll share it with you. Fifty to
fifty Prospect two of the Arizona FallLeague. From my perspective, everybody's else
got their own perspective. Some peopleare writing about it, some people are
(23:37):
watching it and then putting out onething you know or a thing here too.
I every single day am doing somethingwith you guys. For the most
part, I shouldn't say every singleday. I've taken a day off or
two, but I have been to. I don't know, I've been to
maybe missed two days so far, like a Saturday and a Monday. I'll
probably miss a couple more in thenear future. But I try to hit
(23:59):
as many games as possible. Itweet out interesting videos. I'm about ready.
One thing I want to do isI want to unload all of the
videos of players and make like kindof little reels of them to put up
on YouTube so we can also maybego through them later. But I've got
tons of videos. Some I shareonly on the Patreon, some also gets
(24:21):
out to Twitter, and I willrelay my thoughts as possible. The other
fun one was the Arizona Fall LeagueNotebook, which is live on Patreon and
you can check it out. Whenyou open it up. There are it's
an Excel sheet. There are sixtabs of teams. Sometimes I'm doing it
live. I'll tell you one inparticular I was doing live yesterday was Logan
Workman. Logan Workman was pitching, and this definitely tempered me a little bit.
(24:45):
But I've really liked him. Ifyou heard me talk like, I
really have liked him. He isa consistent ninety five ninety six mile an
hour fastball guy. He's got achange up, he's got a slider.
When the fastball is working, thoseother pitches they start to hit. You
know, you can get these guyson the outside with a slider. You
can throw that change up and youcan do some strikeouts. The problem yesterday
(25:10):
was he was fastball high in thezone the entire day. Dude, I'm
telling you he had at least andhe only went I think three innings.
He had at least six balls goto deep right field and have the exact
same trajectory, and Shane Sazaki wasout there, and Sazaki made three great
(25:30):
plays. The problem was is youhad a couple other balls that traveled out.
JT. Schwartz, who's with theNew York Mets, former Gator,
he rocked a bomb out there. You had a double hit off the wall.
It just like I don't think hehad a single ground ball like in
crazy high induced flyball pitcher, butyou know they're still intangils. I really
(25:52):
like about him, So I wasriding that live on there. Not every
single player. I have thoughts immediatelyon I try to share certain things so
you can check that out. I'malso I'll probably finish it this week putting
I have a tab for all thestat cast days. You can only get
stat cast at Salt River Fields,so I just had the links. If
you want to go take a lookat them. There's a tab there and
any other little weird unique notes I'mtrying to put on there. So there's
(26:15):
lots of stuff. You can checkall of those out. Those are all
different Arizona Follleague things from which, again maybe some people do it better or
worse. Whatever, I am hereand this is just my perspective. So
that's what I'm giving you as faras how I rank guys and how I
feel about them. That's where thesebig performers, the digging, deep guys,
and the guys that I think havestruggled from you know, different varying
(26:37):
reasons, are the most impressive playerof the last week, hands down,
Barnun Kyle Manzardo, and I hadhim as someone I didn't love in the
first week. Kyle looked tired,he played less. By the way this
might come from, you know howhe was talking about this is in week
one when he was talking about hedoesn't like to sit. I didn't see
(26:59):
him play as much much as he'splaying right now, so maybe he couldn't
get into that rhythm. But youknow, he was chasing some high fastballs.
He's getting a lot of high Ididn't see people going too crazy low
on him. It was a lotof high stuff. He was chasing some
fastballs. He just didn't have hisrhythm together. He's got it now.
He leads the Arizona Fall League inhomers. He's got five compared to three
(27:19):
for Kevin Alcontra. I think heis number two in RBI currently with Yeah,
it's Wes Clark and Chase the latterlead the way, but Jase Bowen
and Manzarda both have thirteen. Asfar as hits go, I think he's
a little bit further down there.Yeah, he's a little bit further down
but he's still like tied in thetop ten. He's only hitting two eighty
(27:40):
six, but he's got a one, one, two six ops, which
is like top ten. I thinkit's top seven right now out here in
the Fall League over the last sevendays. This seems maybe I just am
wrong on this because I'm looking hereit says over the last seven days.
I feel like this is not rightthat he only has two homers. Well,
he hit two homers yesterday at thegame I was at, but I
(28:03):
felt like he had a couple more. He had three in like a three
game span. But we must havecrossed the seven day marker, unfortunately,
because I usually do this on Tuesday, doing company Monday, but now I'm
doing on a Wednesday, so maybethat kind of got out of that.
So the seven day Marker shows hereis he's hitting three thirty three, two
homers, three RBI and a couplestrikeouts, and a lot of that was
(28:26):
yesterday, So yesterday you can seeboth the videos on Twitter. First homer
was a pretty good one, nothingcrazy, gets a hold of Kendall Williams
with the Dodgers, but the secondhomer was the insane one, and it
was a little BP fastball, youknow, like I can see man Manzard
(28:48):
is really funny. I mentioned before, he's got this little he's got these
quick toe taps for rhythm he doesbefore a swing comes in. I can
tell he's really wanted to attack highfastballs. I think he's very comfortable with
the low part of his zone andI don't think he swings through. He
definitely has a very postured swing he'sbeen doing when he's ready to jump on
(29:10):
something like because he's kind of crunched, you know, like bent over for
the swing, and then when heunloads on the swing, his whole body
comes up. He has very prominent, you know, hands separation. It's
very prototypical. It's very beautiful lookingin the release, kind of technical.
I think there's a lot of technicalstuff that's going on with his swing,
(29:32):
and I think the timing was missing. The second pitch eighty ninety mile an
hour fastball eighty nine ninety I mintand he turns on it. It's a
little bit outside the zone. Itis the single fur this homer I've ever
seen in Peoria. And I justsaid that two weeks ago about Grand Pall.
Nope, it was registered or predictedto go four to seventy one.
(29:55):
Here and in the video you cansee it if you go at the very
if you watch the very end, there are these two garbage cans that are
on the concourse area. So howit works in Puria is you've at the
wall, you got the bullpen, then there's a big grass area, and
then beyond the grass there's a walkwaywith garbage cans, and during spring training
they'll put like some food stuff andthen after the walkway there is like another
(30:19):
little patch of grass and then thefence to go out of the stadium.
He hit the ball past the garbagecans on the end of the walkway.
It bounced once off the walkway andout of the stadium. Not saying that's
not done been done before, Ijust clearly haven't seen it. But I've
never seen one like that. Thatwas it was absurd, great batflip.
(30:40):
He knew he had it, hefelt comfortable with the contact, and he's
locked in. This brings me towhat I think is a very good question,
because I think from a outside perspective, this is the this is a
correct feeling. Mike Curlin quote tweeted, by the way, didn't even say
hi to me. Rude Mike justquote tweets some negative stuff on my timeline.
(31:03):
Can't even say hi to me,or hey, great job Welsh,
I love you, You're amazing. You know, just something easy Mike could
do. He decided not to doit, but he quote tweeted this,
And I think this is a goodperceptive thought, but I will disagree with
it. He goes on the video. He goes reminds me of the twenty
twenty two October November Matt Mrvis hypemachine. He goes, edit, Yes,
(31:23):
I'm aware and agree that Manzarto isbetter and has more pedigree. It's
the comp in terms of the earlyhype paired with productions standing out in the
AFL early similar I think that's interestingbecause Nervis was the difference. A couple
differences outside of him going like he'saware of the pedigree and stuff like that.
The only thing I would point outthough, is I don't know why
(31:45):
he edited to say I'm aware thatManzarto is better. So then I lose
a little bit of like what he'stalking about here, because I think that's
the key thing here is like Manzartois performing so much better than Mervis ever
did. In the AFL, Mervisdidn't. Murvis had like maybe an OK
little stretch. He hit a couplebig bombs, but he never played exceptionally
(32:08):
well. He never looked exceptionally good. He definitely destroyed some mistakes. But
that's where, like I want topoint out, I think some of the
similarities are big mashing home run hittercomes to AFL, has a couple cool
bombs, and then the hype machinegoes through the roof because they might make
the major leagues. I think that'skind of what he's referring to, and
(32:28):
I totally agree with that, completelyagree with that. But I will tell
you, and this is something Ihave to monitor. I had something early
on in the Fall League with MattMurvis where I went, ooh, I
don't love his pitch recognition. Idon't love how he was getting attacked in
the lower zone and he would swingthrough those pitches, just absolute whiffs,
(32:52):
and he wasn't making consistent contact, and all it was was a couple of
big, highlight homer homers, Andthat was kind of what I saw from
him. Not really also a greatdefender. Now Week one, Manzarto was
doing that, but it was adifferent approach. It was again it was
more about like I actually think Igive more credit to guys that are working
through high fastballs than have a bottomzone issue. I think when pitchers attack
(33:16):
guys lower in the zone, Ithink that's something they know. This guy
is a much bigger swing and missmiss issue because we can start inducing some
of those low fastballs and then wecan attack him high in the zone because
we've expanded the zone. But withManzarto, that doesn't exist. He's actually
a pretty good low zone hitter, and I think he's trying to work through
(33:38):
attacking the higher zone. So youdon't see pitchers attack the lower zone because
that's not something that he's weak at. So my point with this is he
was a little swing and missy throughthe beginning of the season. But I'm
now seeing him not just hit bighomers, but he's making solid contact.
He's making really good decisions. He'sa great defender as well. And a
(34:00):
big difference also is that Mervis hadthis incredible year throughout. Manzardo had roughly
his worst year. It was ifanything, I'd say this is closer to
Royce Lewis. Ryce Lewis injured himselfyears ago miss significant time. Told me
that he then had to spend thefirst two months of the season as his
(34:22):
quote spring training. He never foundconsistency and he felt off, and then
he came to the Arizona Fall Leagueand he just went off because he had
also missed a bunch of time. That's the exact story of Manzardo. Manzardo
missed significant time, rhythm hasn't beenthere. He's coming off of statistically what
is his worst year, and nowhe's coming out here and clicking into week
(34:45):
two. So I think there's alittle bit of both of them. I
think it's a great point to putout because I think that is something many
will think. They'll think man,They'll think Mervis when they look at Manzardo
compared to what happened last year, and I think that is a right thought
to have. But as is editedby him, I agree that he is
(35:06):
better. He is a better player. He's a much better defender. He
is the best defender on the cornerhere in the AFL without question. He
can play third base. The defensewill get him there. His ability to
make contact right now will get himthere. He has the most insane power
right now and he is feeling it. That's a really good thing. So
(35:30):
I don't think he has the holesin his swing like Nervis does. And
at one point Manzard was a reallygood contact hitter. I do wonder if
maybe there is you know how hitterssometimes do that, like I need to
hit for more power, so theyadjust their approach type of thing. If
that's gone on. But I justdon't think we can tell any of it
because Manzard has just missed a bunchof time, you know, he's missed
(35:51):
a bunch of time, and he'strying to find he is trying to find
his season rhythm and it's happening here. One week is not enough to tell
if this isn't going to be anothernervous thing or not. Because to Mike's
other point, like I'm getting clickson Manzardo. I'm getting big clicks on
Manzardo, and I'm getting industry peoplethat are jumping into it and stuff.
(36:12):
It does have the feel of nervous, but I do feel he is not
nervous. He's a much safer bet, but safe as relative. But he
has been the most impressive, andhe hit two bombs yesterday where I moved
him down before I put my update, and then I moved him back up
a bit because I did my initialone week kind of concern and then this
(36:36):
week has answered it. So it'sgonna be really key to kind of watch
him the rest of the way through. And you know, he's in a
different space than some of these otherAFL guys. You know, some of
the AFL guys are like, getme the hell out of here. I'm
tired. He didn't have the advats. He's looking to get rhythm, and
this works really well for him.It also works well for him as a
guy that is not going to kindof lay off of it at the end
of the year. You know,he's going to keep going and pressing and
(36:59):
he'll probably buy for MVP awards outhere. But that's also why like I
said, I think this is moreI see this as more Royce Lewis like
than anything else. But we gotto pay attention to how he continues to
hit and he doesn't get into anybad rhythms. His batting average still isn't
there consistently, and you would loveto see, you know, a little
bit more of the doubles approach, but I've seen opposite field approach. Never
(37:21):
saw that with Mervis. You're seeinghuge pollside, you're seeing good decisions.
It just he's doing quite a fewthings that are better than nervis. But
I did like the question a lot. And by the way, I don't
think the question was posed at me. It was just online, but he
quote tweeted my video and I waslike, oh, that's actually a pretty
good thing to tackle. Mixed upon the week's big performers, how about
Colson Montgomery. Colse Montgomery has beenphenomenal last seven days. This is going
(37:45):
to count yesterday. Seven hits, hitting four thirty eight, seven RBIs and
only four games. He's hit threehomers, no stolen bases, not a
bunch of strikeouts there either, buthe's got a double, a triple three.
Five of seven hits have been extrabase. He is finding that rhythm.
(38:06):
He I there was always that CoreySeager thing that was out there,
and I kind of rolled my eyesat it. I will tell you this
is the first time I've bought alittle into the Corey Seeger stuff because what
he is doing is hitting the ballhard really, I mean, really getting
into it. I mean it isa bit not all guy. Even the
Manzarto Homer he hit it really far, but it didn't end. There was
(38:29):
a It was a big launch angletype of hit, but it wasn't one
of those where you're like, ohmy gosh, you know, there are
a few guys out here that dothat. Coolson Montgomery has to be put
I wish I could see all ofthe evs and stuff. Has to be
putting up some big exit velosophies. He's making much better decisions. He's getting
the bat in the zone. Hecan also kind of get under, so
(38:50):
pitcher pictures aren't really able to attackhim lower in the zone, and that's
where it becomes difficult because they haveto be able to control the fastballs high
in the and that's where, likeme personally, I kind of think guys
like Manzarto and maybe even Montgomery whereyou know they might be getting attacked a
little bit in the upper zone, but then they'll you know, guy,
(39:13):
I'll throw a bad pitch and they'lldestroy it. Part of that is due
to some bad pitching that like, these guys can protect the lower half of
the zone and then these guys youknow at this stage, are trying to
throw high in the zone to attackthem, but they can't hit their spots.
We're in the major leagues, You'regonna get guys like Garrett Cole and
Aaron Nola that can absolutely just pinpointthe top of the zone. And that's
where these guys, you know, you're gonna they're gonna have to adjust to
(39:37):
getting some stupid meatball pitch because thispitcher can't control it to these guys that
are gonna attack your weaknesses, andhow will they adjust? Manzardo, I
want to believe in and Colson's beenreally good and he looks a lot better.
It looks like he's making better decisions. Like I said, there's really
great bat speed, flicks the wristsreally easy, and it's a big doubles
(39:58):
power and he's been awesome. Fourthirty eight five hundred obp so far over
the last week and then on theseason. Let me look here he has
got He's hitting two fifty six. There's been a bunch of strikeouts. Oh
that was the other key, thirteenstrikeouts so far in the AFL, but
only four this past week. Sohe got was real heavy in the first
(40:19):
week. He laid off, startedto walk a little bit, and started
not swinging at dumb pitches. That'sa really important one for him because if
he's the type of guy when youhit the ball as hard as he does,
he's getting the bat of the zone, you might have some good things
happen to you, but it's alsoyou know, the decision making. You
gotta not be swinging through everything. So Coles Montgomery has been really good over
(40:42):
this past week. One guy Ididn't think I was going to report back
that was going to be on thepositive side was Benny Montgomery. Another Montgomery
here. I gotta tell you,I've been kind of out on Benny.
The very first thing from day onethat stood out to me was just how
big he looked. He looks somuch bigger than I ever remembered before.
(41:04):
And his performance so far in theAFL has been kind of shocking. And
the way he's making contact over thelast week. He's hitting five over five
hundred. Hit a homer last nightand I missed it. I mean I
saw it, but I didn't havea camera out. I was doing something.
I was really pissed about that, not striking out. He's got a
stolen base, a homer, atriple, a double, nine hits over
(41:28):
the last four games. It's afourteen hundred OPS Thannie Montgomery's got on the
year so far in the AFL throughten games. He's hitting four hundred.
That was his first homer, buthe's got five stolen bases, a decent
amount of walks to his strikeouts, which has been good. You're getting some
extra base run. And he's oneof twelve players with a thousand plus OPS
(41:51):
in the Arizona Fall League. Andthis is the guy that I thought we
were sending off. Now I don'tbelieve, even though physically he's got it,
I don't believe Benny is going tobe a big home run hitter,
even though you can dream on it. It feels kind of Jason Worth to
me. I know Jason Worth mighthave I should probably look as I said
(42:12):
this I feel like Jason Worth mighthave had a couple years a little bit
later where he started putting up somebigger home run numbers. But I feel
like, at least in my littlebrain here, that there were quite a
few years of low homer outputs.Yeah, okay, so like at the
end sixteen homers, twelve homers, twenty one ten, he did have a
(42:34):
thirty six home run output, butor low twenties to the teens. That's
the feel I get from Benny. He's a guy that he's going to be
a doubles hitter can make. Imean, Colorado might be a beautiful spot
for him to hit in, buthe's gonna steal some bases. He can
steal probably twenty five plus probably fifteenhomers to twenty if he's making really good
(42:58):
decisions and contact is there. Hisapproach seems to be different. It doesn't
feel as loopy as before, andhe's waiting for his pitch. I'm very
surprised at how good he's been. And he's been leading off out here,
and that's something I'm always intrigued bythe leadoff hitters in the AFL. We
saw Nootbar do that these are guysthat they want to get those extra at
(43:19):
bats they feel that can get onbase. And Benny's approach may have just
been a complete turnaround and let mepull up his season stats, because like
I said, I had just kindof let Benny be an afterthought, like,
oh, it doesn't seem like it'sgoing to work out, doesn't seem
like he's going to be a bighitter. Ten homers, eighteen stolen bases,
two fifty one this past year, and the batting average is up here
(43:40):
at four hundred. He actually hitthree point thirteen in a ball and that's
what I'd like to see him getchallenged a little bit more. And that's
what's encouraging about the AFL is youwould look at a ball and be like,
they're really not pushing him, Butthen you would realize he's out here
in the Arizona Fall League, payinghome amost every day, leading off,
going against you know, who doyou go? He went against Zach Kent
(44:05):
last night. Darius Vines actually pitchedfor Pure for Salt River last night.
Who you know, major league pitcher, but you know you're going up against
the tea day. He's unfortunately notgoing to go against Joe Ervines Salt River
might have some of the better pitchers, but you know you're still going to
go up against some pretty dang gooddudes. A couple of minut to talk
about here in a second. Ithink this is a better test to show,
oh, it wasn't just a ball. He's now hitting over four hundred
(44:29):
against what's probably equivalent to at leastdouble a talent, and I think he
can be a quick mover. We'llsee how it goes at the highest levels
next year, but Benny Montgomery hasbeen very, very good, and like
one extra thing to add, Iput this in the notebook the Arizona my
Arizona Faull League Live notebook I have. This is from ten to two.
I said, he's doing something Idon't recall with his hands. He's got
(44:50):
them up at his shoulders, thenhe clicks them down to his chest and
then moves forward. I actually saidit looks a little unnatural ish and I
don't particularly love it. Yet heis making consistent, consistent contact, So
I think that's kind of a funnyone to go back and read A couple
pitchers to talk to you guys about, one of which over I think,
(45:13):
oh yeah, it was week two. He just won player Pitcher of the
Week. It's Daniel Davis with theAngels. And I didn't even think I
had realized Davis had gotten to themajor leagues this past year, Davis Danley,
I think I said, see,I think I might have even said
Daniel Davis. Davis. Daniel hadgotten to the majors and pitched right towards
the back end of the year, had twelve innings to ERA nine strikeouts,
(45:36):
and in the miners this past yearhad a two to one five ERA and
seven games pitched only forty two strikeouts. So he was here because of like
serious misstime. Well, he nowhas the longest outing in the AFL and
the first pitcher this year to haveten strikeouts in a game because in his
first game he went six gave uponly two hits, one and run walk
(45:57):
to, and struck out ten heldbatters to a one hundred batting average.
He was great. I did notget to see this start, but he
was throwing strikes consistently. He wasgetting it done. Winning Player of the
Week, and he's gonna be oneof those guys that I am targeting for
his next start or the one afterthat, one of these next two starts
(46:20):
I want to see. But he'son the radar because there are always free
swingers out here, and there areguys you know, tired, blah blah.
I'm kind of giving you all theanecdotal things, but like ten strikeouts
to go six innings is hard todo out here. It's hard to be
able to go that deep outside ofa He needs it, you know,
he needs the ability because he onlyhad like forty innings, so they need
(46:42):
to push him higher, but alsoto get those type of whiffs that tells
you something completely different. So Danield Davis Daniel the name is going to
be a nightmare for me. DavisDaniel is going to be one of those
guys that I'm going to be prettyhyper locked into and he might be one
of the bigger sleeper pitchers out here. Another one who he went five innings
(47:06):
is Braiden Net with the San DiegoPadres pitching for Peoria. He went five,
gave up only one hit, oneearned run, walked one, and
struck out seven. Braiden Net Idid see pitch guys were not able to
catch up with the fastball, andthis is another one of those guys.
Sometimes the key here is just beingable to throw strikes and keep pitchers off.
You know, that was the myTeetaman versus Job thing, and I
(47:30):
didn't really comment on it before, but like it's a little part of me
that might get to the area whereI might like Job a little bit more
than Teeman when we get down toit. But like you know, Teetaman
can pitch from behind. He canbe sneaky with the command issues, but
like Job lacked that a little bit. Job lacked the I feel the innovativeness
(47:51):
of how he's able to throw, you know, and like like he's pretty
predictable. I guess that's what I'mtrying to say. Bud, he commands
his pitch as well, and itmakes him play up here. That's something
that Braiden Net can do as well. So Braden net Innett and Davis Daniel
two pitchers you've got to keep aneye on because they had probably the best
pitching performances of Week two. Prospectone want to dig a little bit deeper.
(48:16):
While I've got actually two players, one pitcher, one hitter for the
Texas Rangers that you are going tohave to pay attention to, and one
of them is a relief pitcher, and you might be familiar with him,
you might not, But some ofyou out there like to get into the
world of finding prospect pitchers that mightbecome closers. You're gonna want to look
at Emiliano Toyoto. If I'm sayinghis name correctly, teod Emiliano Toyoto with
(48:42):
the Texas Rangers. Over the lastweek. He pitched two games, three
innings, struck out seven, gaveup no hits, no one in runs,
he walked one. Why do youlike Yoto because he is a hundred
mile an hour flame thrower and heis the most dominant reliever out here.
What he reminds me of is AbnerRuribe from last year. This is how
(49:07):
Abner was. He was a dude. He would come out blow everybody by.
He had not only like big velos, but really big spin. I
don't think I've seen that with Toyotoexactly. But he is the big,
big fastball throw out here and hehas become unhittable. I don't know if
that's gonna change, and I probablywould love to see him versus like Manzarto,
(49:30):
who Manzarto is one of those guys. If I had the stats of
like contact versus high velo players,I would guess Manzarto is probably one of
the better. I'd also say likeChase, the latter is probably one of
the better. So I'd love tosee that matchup at some point. But
Tooto is a guy that you're gonnawant to keep your eye on. And
let's pull up his season stats herewith the Texas Rangers. He had a
(49:51):
four or five two ERA, eightyfour strikeouts and sixty one innings this past
year and kind of a high whip, so there would looked like there were
definitely some walk issues that were goingon this season. He only pitched at
high A though he walked thirty threeover eighty four out here in the Fall
League. He's walking practically nobody andstriking out absolutely everybody, and it's one
hundred hundred and one, So definitelypay attention to him. The other guy
(50:14):
that you're gonna want to pay attentionto, to varying degrees is Liam Hicks
with the Texas Rangers. He's acatcher. It's always his catchers. But
Liam Hicks did something I've never seenbefore in the AFL. He had nine
straight hits nine straight hits. Itwas crazy, like you literally. I
even think he commented on it likehe had never done anything like this in
(50:37):
his professional career. He had ninestraight hits out here. He is a
really tough out. It actually hasthese Ryan Bliss like vibes because he is
a tough out. I don't thinkhe's particularly an elite player, but over
the last week he's hitting five hundred. He has three walks to three strikeouts,
only one RBI and a couple doublesin there. I think he's definitely
(50:59):
one of those overball type of hitters. It's a pull approach to upfield approach
for lots of contact, lots ofsingles. He had eight hits in the
last seven days and six of themwere singles. The others were doubles.
So I think it kind of speaksto that. But it might be someone
to pay attention to. If theoffensive profile continues to get better. He
(51:22):
can kind of be run on alittle bit. I saw multiple players last
night run on him, Jace Youngspecifically, like three stolen bases, so
I think that that's going to bea problem. So I'm just saying to
pay attention to him. But Jaystole second, then stole third, and
then had another attempted steal. SoI think that's one thing I've noticed out
(51:42):
here. Catchers are getting abused, and I don't know all of what's telling
about the talent level. Like KevinParrada, I believe Peoria two nights ago
attempted or not just attempted. Theystole six bases on him, and there's
something about maybe the release point ofsome of these cats. And Liam Hicks
was another one of those guys.So I don't know, but the offensive
(52:04):
profile has been very intriguing. Sothat's a sleeper to pay attention to out
here. Finally, on the strugglebus, for the last week, a
couple players have jumped out. Nobodyhas been on a bigger struggle bus than
Grand Paul after we talked him upabout he looks the part of a top
one hundred player and you know, the power is insanely real. Well,
over the last seven days, hedoes not have a hit. He's played
(52:28):
in how many games is I guessten? Is that at bats? That's
ten at bats? He has zerohits. He does have a couple of
sack flies because he does have twoRBIs. I've seen him twice in the
last seven days. He doesn't looka lot different. He's getting pitched differently,
not pitching him high in the zonewhere he's been absolutely murdering balls.
(52:50):
So that's discouraging because, like, this is what's going to happen at the
major league level. They're pitching himlow in the zone, they're pitching him
outside, he's pressing, he's swingingthrough a lot more stuff. I think
this might be representative of just likethe player that he is. He's not
a high contact player. He absolutelycan hit twenty five plus, he absolutely
can steal twenty plus, but dreamingon him being a two seventy five is
(53:13):
probably not it. It's going tobe very intriguing to watch how he adjusts
because he's not doing it yet. He's just swinging through everything. I don't
think he's too frustrated yet. Butright as we talk about him being like
this is a top one hundred guy, he's on the biggest struggle there.
I think he'll bounce back, though, but it's I haven't loved it.
I definitely haven't loved how it seemslike you can really get him on like
(53:36):
two strike breaking pitches, like that'she's no chance. Essentially, when he
gets a two at this point withtwo strikes, I'm assuming he's out and
that's kind of a bad place tobe in. Now. This must have
been from yesterday. Maybe this popback up, but Chase the latter had
kind of fallen off a little bit. I put him on this list,
but it does list that he's nowhitting over three hundred, But I just
(53:58):
don't think he's had a whole bunchof it bat So he must have hit
yesterday and I didn't see it whereI thought he wasn't in the lineup,
but he must have come in andbecause he was hitting like under two forty
for a little bit. He's gota couple stolen bases. The homers have
gone away, the extra bases havegone away. Over the last seven days.
It is literally three singles, acouple of stolen bases. But he
is getting RBI opportunities. I don'tI think he's not getting the pitches he
(54:22):
was getting in the first week.I'm not sure this is so much about
him. It's funny because I havethis dance between these players that like I
visually look and I'm like, oh, this has been bad. Then I
look and I'm like, what thehell they're hitting three hundred. I'm surprised,
But the latter definitely has not lookedthe part of what I said in
the first week of who's the bestplayer here? Physically, he's still there.
I love his swing, I lovehis approach. He's just not getting
(54:45):
the same pitches and he's turning overon stuff. I'd liked him to be
more selective. I think, ifI can recall, part of the problem
has been early count stuff like drivethe counts deeper, drive the counts deeper
to get the pitch that you wantif you don't get it. Part of
that he has been He has fourwalks to one strikeout, and that's what
I do love about him. Soeven though he has struggled a little bit
(55:06):
in that, you know, he'sstill walking, not striking out, not
pressing where he's striking out. He'sjust pressing where he's getting outs. And
I'd like that to change. Andone Marle throw at you is lazarro Armanteros
is not great. Not that youmaybe even thought that he was. Maybe
you did, just want to pointout I have watched him multiple times now
(55:30):
and there is nothing there. There'sthe approach. It's it is an all
fastball, gotta make a mistake foryou to hit, and it's just not
really happening. So you know youwant to start having like firm decisions on
players like, oh, this isnot a guy. And then you know
there are some guys here. Youknow, not to be mean or anything,
(55:51):
but like you know, Nelson Medinawith the Yankees, there's nothing there.
But there's also nothing there with lazarroArmanteraros, and there are guys that
are framing into that area. LikeI personally don't really think there's a lot
there. With Gavin Cross and he'shitting three thirty three over the last week,
I just think he's going to bea super average player. I don't
even know if he's a major leagueplayer. But then there are players that
(56:13):
are just so far off from that, and that's arman Taro's. Armantaro's is
really bad. Plenty of other playershave. Actually the second week has been
really brutal to a lot of players. You know, Aba Melik, where
Teaz has not. He hasn't gottenanything going. Again, I don't know
if I want to pick too mucha part about it, but he's had
a bad fall league because he's literallydone nothing while he's out here. But
the second week has really pressed alot more players. Jack Branigan, Wes
(56:37):
Clark all hitting over two hundred.Brian Ramos has one hit in his last
twelve at bats. You know,Harry Ford. Harry Ford has not looked
good. Harry Ford. When hemakes contact, he hits homers. He
literally like his first three hits wereall homers. Other than that, though,
he's not contributing to the game awhole bunch, and I'm not sure
(56:59):
one hundred percent that's about I willtell you if there's a player that has
to be tired, it has tobe Harry Ford. Spring training, WBC,
full season, long now AFL,the wildest one yet, So I'm
not pulling too much apart about that, but he just does seem kind of
lost at the plate right now.But that, my friends, is where
(57:20):
you go with it. There areother players we could have talked about.
You know, one player I thinkI talked about in the last episode that
really deserves conversation and is one ofthe more surprising bats here is James Treanto's.
James Treanto's is he's a madman outhere. Contact left and right homers.
He can change his approach to notonly be a home run swing,
but to a you know, adouble opposite field hit. I've been thoroughly
(57:45):
impressed with Trionto's and he is themost hits over the last seven days,
four stolen bases, hitting five hundred. James Treanto's really what I'm seeing out
of him, not just like thestat stuff. He is one of the
toughest outs out here. I didnot expect that. I did not expect
him to be one of the toughestouts of any player. Not just like
(58:06):
he's doing the most. He can'tget him out. So Treanto's is a
player that is also he's also onthe rise. So there you go.
That's a little bit of a lookfrom the Arizona Fall League. I will
be out more this week, beout all the weeks, all the stuff.
Like I said, I've got agame today, I'm doing. I'm
not doing as many double header typeof games. I'm kind of trying to
(58:27):
pick and choose them. I willcontinuously share video, so follow me on
Twitter at is it the Welsh.Don't steal my content, especially, don't
download the video and then put itsomewhere. That's the thing if anyone saw
the Manzarto thing like I'm annoyed tothat. I even took the option off
the download the people that download thevideo and then like tag me or something.
It's the worst, but whatever.I will be tweeting out some of
(58:49):
the videos. I'll have some stuffon the Patreon which you guys can check
out. In this league dot com, I would love for you to sign
up, check out the notebook, check out the brand new five hundred prospect
rank. And I'm hoping, becauseI want to get it done right before
first pitch happens, that I'll doanother update because I've already updated a few
things and the Dynasty list right atNovember first, so then I can like
(59:12):
have it out of my brain andI can enjoy the first pitch. So
come over and join there. Youcan get in the group me rooms,
you can talk with us. Andalso I think I might the first week
in November as well start the poneadps to kind of have that going,
so maybe we could be done withit by the time the actual conference stuff
happens. So that is what I'mall thinking. We will be back again
(59:32):
next week for the Week three breakdownfollow me on all the stuff. Thank
you guys for the support. Ihope this episode was beneficial and we will
probably even talk a little bit aboutsome of the rank changes here coming very
very soon. That's it for me. Thank you to Dennis Sidler fidsgrafts dot
