Speaker 1 (00:01):
In this league podcast, that word present Prospect one. So
Fantasy prospect podcast prospect What with your host Chris Wels.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
This is the Fantasy Baseball Prospect podcast. This is Prospect one.
Hello friends, I'm Chris Welsh. You can find me on
Twitter at Visit the Welsh, same on the Instagram, and
of course at in this League dot Com. That is
very important because this coming week rank update for July.
As a matter of fact, it's going to be right

(00:35):
after the draft Monday the latest Tuesday, we're going to
have the updated top five hundred prospect list, which is
going to include many many of the draft prospects that
we are going to see here on Sunday. So if
you want access to the top five hundred, top four hundred, Dynasty,
the Amateur Ranks, P one, ADPs, all that fun stuff,
go to in this League dot Com. Sign up today

(00:56):
in this League dot Com. On the show today, this
Clegg from Dynasty Dugout is going to be joining me
as we are going to be constructing our top ten
early first year player draft. Now earliest kind of relative
word here because this episode is dropping about twenty four
hours before the MLB Draft. This conversation is what the

(01:17):
first year player prospects look like in our top ten.
We recorded this a couple of days ago, but you know,
before the draft, before any of the latest buzz, before
potential falls or players being completely moved up. A couple
of words being you know, whatever it is, this is
where we sit now, and what is most fascinating about
it is the parody. I truly believe I've not looked

(01:39):
at anybody else's first year player that does fantasy now.
Clig is the only other one. But if we took
three or four more, we might have the most discrepancies
of a first year player top ten than we've ever
seen before, Like we would usually see you know, oh hey,
you know top four or five. You know, maybe not
exactly the same, but it's in a differ in order,

(02:00):
and then something start to change. It's like, no, you
might have four of the same names in the top
ten and everything else is different. It's pretty crazy, but
it also kind of speaks to the class. So this
is going to be a nice little preview going into
the MLB Draft of what the walking in expectation kind
of looks like as far as the first year player. Obviously,

(02:22):
there's going to be more of a desired discussion about
what the first year class as a whole looks like,
and we'll do that after the draft as well. I'll
be on with James and I think Eric and Chris
for an episode on rode Wire where I think we're
going to do like a little mock draft. But I
will also have an early episode out probably before that,
breaking down the kind of tiers and the levels and stuff.

(02:42):
But we are going to go through ours. We're also
going to talk about some prospects in the second half
who are looking to, you know, make either big bounce
backs or players that were really focused in on. So
we've got a big conversation here getting a setup for
the MLB Draft. If you guys are also looking for
any of the mL draft stuff, I may be doing
a live stream. I apologize about being like ambiguous about it,

(03:06):
but I may be doing CBS, and if I'm not
at all, then I'm gonna do it. If I am,
it just kind of depends what it looks like. If
I can pull off like escaping for a bit, blah
blah blah. So the best thing you can do is
follow me on YouTube, YouTube dot com slash in this
league and Twitch, Twitch, dot tv slash in this league
as well. If you're on the Patreon, you'll get a

(03:27):
notification and I'll kind of update everybody because in theory
I would live stream during the draft. We can talk
about the prospects. I'll be live putting them on my
ranks and stuff, so be on the lookout for that.
But worst case, I'll be back with an update on
Monday or Tuesday, as well as an early episode breaking
all of this stuff down before we get into the episode.
Two interesting things. One, I wanted to tell you guys

(03:49):
this story. It was really cool and it's draft centric.
If you know, if you're following me on the socials,
that Travis Bizan is out here and I've seen him
a couple times. Well, I got to go and check
him out on Monday. I think it was a camelback ranch.
What was nice about it was there was just not
a lot of people. Not everybody was like tuned into
him being there, so came out. I talked to him

(04:11):
a tiny bit before the game, got to see some bats,
lots of walks. You know, he's just a passive guy.
It's a little the passiveness. Sometimes I will say he
I'm working through it in my head. He's not like
a Tamar Johnson or an Edward Julian, which really gets
on my nerves. These guys that drive these counts and

(04:32):
these guys that are passive to start and aggressive at
the end. He just he has a really good eye
for the zone. But if you throw a ball, he's
gonna take it. But one of the first at bats,
you know, he was aggressive in the beginning, like he
wants to pull the ball. That is the one thing
he wants to do. He wants to pull the crap
out of the ball on you if you throw it inside.
And he ended up taking this like long pitch walk

(04:55):
after fouling three off heavy pole side, and he ended
up walking I think twice struck out once. You know.
On base I saw him a couple of days later
where he had a base hit. The day before or
the game before that he hit a homer, you know,
so like he's finding some aggressiveness. It's just a great
overall skill set that his eye is way way advanced.

(05:15):
He's a really really smart kid. But the interesting story
was I happened to stay for the majority of the game.
I didn't plan to. I had to pick up my kids,
but it was a gajillion degrees out, but I happened
to stay. I wanted to get at bats, you know,
really hoping Bazana did something great to get video on.
So then he gets his last at bat and I'm like, okay,
well I'm going to get out of here. I got

(05:36):
to go, you know, start treking to get my kids,
and he happened to be leaving. Because a lot of
these rehab guys, like higher level rehab players, interestingly enough,
they usually don't travel with the team. So, like you know,
in the valley here, everything is about let's just call
it an hour away. Within an hour, most teams will

(05:56):
take a bus. Sometimes they do like three or four,
but let's just usually call it a bus. But if
you have any type of rehabber from a usually a
high like a double A, not High A, but Double
A to majors, they're gonna take their own car. So
they usually get there either way before. I remember going
to count Back Branch one time, I got there way

(06:18):
too early and I'm parked and park next to me
is Michael Waka and he's just he's just chilling in
his rental and he got their way too early. And
then they open the gates. I walk kind of through
the gates and then he kind of walks and I
ended up talking to him and he's like, do you
happen to know where I go? And I'm like that
field right there, like that's how crazy it is. Or
they'll come super late.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
You know.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I've seen guys come eight minutes before a game. So
Bazana had driven himself. So that also means, you know,
whenever they're done, they've met their quota of innings or
at bats or whatever that they'll they'll head out. So
he happened to be heading out at the same time,
you know, So he's backing up, he's leaving, there's people,
he's like signing some stuff, and I'm kind of walking

(07:00):
and then it worked out where like he was behind me,
but he was just kind of jetting. And then he's
he's walking up and I, you know, talked to him earlier,
and then we're and I was like, oh, here, you
can pass here, and I happened to bring up I
was like, I'm like, hey, have you talked to Iva
with the draft coming up? And he's and you know,
he's an Australian accent. He's like, oh, yeah, yeah, I'm
not gonna try to do it to be horrible. But

(07:21):
he's like, oh, I was great and I kind of
did it there. Oh that wasn't bad, right, IV was great.
And he starts breaking him down and I'm like, yeah,
you know, it's really exciting, and I'm like, what do
you think. Where do you think he's gonna go? And
he's like, man, he's like, he's, you know, prototypical six
foot Now I'm like stuck in the acts six foot five.
He has a six foot five frame, and you know,

(07:42):
he can kind of do everything, and I think he's
gonna go really high. And he's like, it looks like
the kid from Washington's gonna go. He's like but you know,
he's just going through and he's breaking him all down.
And then when he brought up the Washington thing, I said, yeah,
you know, it's really interesting because of the you know,
the stuff with the organization of Mike Rizzo leven they
could change it. And he started we start talking about that,

(08:03):
and I was like, you know, you gotta be proud
you're Alma mater with you last year and him and
he's like, oh, the organization. He's like Organ's you know, great,
and he was telling me about how he transferred. It's
like a ten minute conversation. We were talking about the draft.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
You know.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
He brought up Ethan Holiday, like smart kid. It reminded
me very much of like Corbyn Carroll in that I
remember sometimes these guys they just know nobody, They don't
know anybody. They're not they're not locked into anything. It's
just their world. I remember like when like talking about
the draft a couple of years ago with Corbyn Carroll.

(08:39):
He knew all the guys, he knew who they drafted.
He was like very locked into the players they drafted,
why they drafted. He pays attention to minor leaguers and
I was super impressed about that. And that kind of
reminded me of the same thing, and that like Bazana
was really locked into the guys that were coming up.
He had and it wasn't just giving me lip service.
It was like evaluation. And you know, especially I've a

(09:02):
you would expect glowingly but I even forgot that they
didn't play together because he was a transfer, you know.
But he you know, saying he's talking to him on
the phone about the draft process. He thought Iva was
going to be like a top five pick, which is
very interesting because of those like Seattle ties. But yeah,
we talked about multiple pitchers and multiple hitters, and it

(09:25):
happened to be. If you've ever been a count back branch,
it's just this like it's just a long path. You
gotta walk out your long path out to the parking lot.
And we walked it all the way to the cars.
And it was funny because it was this moment where
it's like, you know, two buddies talking because then now
we're standing next to our cars and it's hilarious because
it is Travis Bazana in full uniform standing in front

(09:46):
of his car, and then I'm standing in front of
my truck and we were talking and then it was
like okay, great, you know, and like you'd know the
hell I was. But then we just parted ways and
it's just like, you know, he gets in full uniform,
full guardian's uniform, into his car and drives off. But
it was just a fun, weird experience that I ended
up having with a top prospect in baseball, you know,
who's rehabbing and there's there's just kind of so much

(10:09):
that is intertwining goes into that stuff, but to take
the time and get very excited, because he could have
been like, you know, I'm like, oh, hey, you know
about it. He could have been like, yeah, you know,
gonna be interesting bub about you know, and walk off,
but it was Now it's kind of a It was
a long conversation about the draft and the process and
you know, kind of his recovery through it, and just

(10:31):
smart stuff. One of those things where sometimes you're you're
trying to figure out who these guys are, how are
they gonna adjust, what's their mentality? And it was one
of those to me that was like his kid's rehabbing,
level headed kid, willing to talk, not phased, really smart,
really dialed in and I've kind of just gotten that
impression from him and how he's interacted with umpires, how

(10:53):
he interacts with players. There was a ball the other day.
It was hit. It should have been his ball. First
baseman went way off and then had some diving attempt
at it, and then no one was there, and then
he kind of I think I think he was heavy Dominican,
so I don't know how the communication was going, but
he was like, that's my bat he's like, I should

(11:14):
have told you to stay that I got it, and
you know the communication so again kind of like the
team leader argued with an ump about a check call
that was not a check call, and he ended up
going up against Noah Syndergard, which was a pretty fascinating experience.
Noah doesn't have his fastball anymore, but he does have
that breaking pitch that I guess a change up, Like

(11:35):
he was throwing a ton of change ups, and you know,
he got a chopper on Bazana, but then Bazan in
his third bat got to him, laced a single to
write some impressive at bats. I actually have all three
at bats if you want to go check it out
on my Twitter. You can see, you know, their kind
of battle. But I don't know. I think there's just
a lot of negativity around Bazana right now because he's
been out of sight, out of mind for a lot

(11:56):
of people. But he now just completed his week of
rehab in Arizona. I think he had three hits. I
think there's a legit possibility. I've been told it could
go multiple different ways that he could end up being
another week. But I think maybe based on some of

(12:17):
the success, that he might leave and maybe he joins
back on the team in this kind of second half.
So I don't know, we'll see where it goes. There's
a transitional like minor league teams and All Star Break
that maybe he plays one or two more games out
here in Arizona. But I think by next week he's
going to be back, at least from what I can tell,

(12:38):
that he will be back with with the Guardians in
Double A. And then i'd expect, you know, he moves around,
hopefully find some success, probably gonna be Arizona Fall League.
But it was you know, I always have these weird,
unique experiences. Sometimes you talk to a guy for ten seconds,
thirty seconds. This was like a ten minute walking conversation.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
I almost wanted to be like, can I record? You know,
but I'm not gonna be like that because it was
just this natural, fun conversation where he was like, oh,
you know, you're not a weirdo, or at least that
I know you're a weirdo. And I'm talking to him
and I'm throwing players at him. You know, there was
somebody now I'm forgetting, but you know, he was trying
to explain someone I said, Oh, that's this guy, and
he's like, yeah, exactly, and we were talking about your

(13:20):
teammates from last year and it was it was a
fun conversation, but a good experience and just some good
stuff to share with Bazanna in that, like, I think
people are also putting them on a pedestal compared to
some of these guys that are just I mean, these
major leaguers, Nick Kurtz at this point insane, Jack Kaglia,
all these guys. Chase Burns just struck out ten and

(13:40):
then he's kind of fallen behind, but it's really due
to injury, and I think he's at the tippy top.
One of the smartest guys. Doesn't strike out a ton,
gonna take walks, pulls the ball, there's power, there's speed.
I still think there's a lot to like. I think
it's a good time to buy on Travis Bizanum, but
that was my experience as of recent while also seeing
I think it was Baseball Baseball America's number one in

(14:03):
the hot sheet ranks. The Meil Morales continues to rate.
Kellen Lindsay is back. I've got a homer you can
check out on my Twitter, and the air was on
a complex execution. Almost done. I think we're in the
final week and a half and then we will be
kind of moving into the Bridge League, so that'll be
chaos and hopefully I will be able to share it
all with you, Right, that's the fun stuff. The other

(14:24):
thing I was going to say is I'm actually recording
to this now after the Futures game. It's originally going
to kind of do maybe a small preview, but we
just watched a Futures game. Okay, results kind of slow.
I actually live streamed on our twitch for about four innings.
There wasn't a ton to speak of. JR Ritchie looks
really impressive. He had a little bit of nerves maybe

(14:45):
with where some of the command was going, but he
looked really good getting some of those outs. Connor Griffin
got hit on the wrist. Thank god, he's okay. It
looked like he might have had his wrist broken. He
confirmed after everything was okay. Josue'd dee La Palla into
up winning MVP by crushing a homer. No As Schultz Man,

(15:05):
He Noah Schultz, there's some adjustment period. Why can he
knock get out lefties? Just soft tossing to lefties and
they're just crushing balls. I thought JJ Weatherhold really got
a hold of that one early on from Parker Messick.
That was impressive. You know, nothing that stood out like
from where you're just like, oh my god, did you
see this? Was like I think of the moment where

(15:26):
Jacob Mizarowski threw that like one hundred and two inside
slider or whatever it was. It's something crazy thing he did.
In the Futures game, there were just some okay moments.
So some of these guys were able to shine. You
saw some of these guys hitting the ball really hard.
Some of these pictures. Thomas White I thought had a
kind of a tough out. I think Schultz White, they
both kind of struggled in Casey had a nice hit.

(15:49):
Connor Griffin didn't really do too much, you know, so
nothing to speak of. Max Clark ended up I think
stealing a base, So nothing to write home about. Yoso
de la Paula a salute dude, though there was some
definite dude watch and Treya Savage ended up having one
batter and they took him out, and I think that's
just you know, Future getting them in there. But I
don't think there's too much I'm walking away from that

(16:12):
future's game of like, oh you know, oh my Dijy
weatherhold I thought held his own. He you know, probably
is still kind of underrated. Nothing has changed off of
Connor Griffin for me. I do think Max Clark is
just underrated overall, and Hay's body definitely look overmatched, but
that would be expected in that type of setting for

(16:32):
a young guy. But futures game out MLB Draft is
about here, and me and Chris are going to be
talking about a decent amount of it. So sit back, relax.
We got an hour. We're gonna be going through our
first year player and some players to pay attention to
in the second half, So enjoy right here on Prospect one,
say I like you. I like you so much, I'm

(16:55):
going to make you my partner.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
All he has to do is find the gold and
all shared with you.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Fifty fifty prospect What he is?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Chris Clegig from The Dynasty dugout back on the podcast
here in Prospect one, I feel like it has been
way way too long. As I said, a fair Chris,
what's somebody?

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Well some man?

Speaker 3 (17:14):
How it's good to chat again, Like says the season
gets going and we get busy, and yeah, it's good
to connect again for sure.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
And the thing we always do too, it's like we
literally start like twenty minutes ago. We spend time talking
and Clegg's like, what do you think about this guy
on the back end? You know, what do you think
about this complex guy? And I'm like, what do you
think about this on the draft? And we know where
you going and we're just talking, kind of talking shot
before we jumped into the podcast. But the plan is
we are going to preview out what our top ten

(17:41):
in the first year player draft is going to look like.
I think we are together on a show next week
on Rode Wire with James Anderson where it'll probably be
a little bit more affirmed. But this is an early
look and we'll kind of dig into that. As far
as like the previewing, I think it is very volatile.
This might be one of the biggest difference across the
board years. Like if we were to compare right now

(18:04):
our top our top tens are wildly different. We look
at the top ten, if we were to add probably
James and Cross and then you get real life stuff.
It's kind of all over the board. So we're going
to preview, so I just want to re remind this
is kind of a preview of going into the draft weekend.
We'll get more information the broadcast and telecast will tell
us a lot also where you know the teams. It's

(18:25):
unlike football as much or even basketball, but there definitely
is something to teams putting their equity into a player.
Like we might be like, all right, this is where
we think, and then all of a sudden, the team
jumps up on a guy and we're like, oh wow,
this change. Like Jacob Wilson I think was a really
good example where you have to pay attention. Like he
wasn't on a lot of fantasy radars because the power

(18:48):
projection and sol and based projection. Obviously we knew there
was real life, you know, potential, But then he gets
drafted as high as he It is something to pay
attention to. And because of the volatility of this year's
draft and that it's short stop high school heavy, college
pitching heavy, and it really lacks I would say, like
consistency and college hitters that like if you know, I know,

(19:10):
we'll talk about this. But if like a young shortstop
were to take a deal, that's not Ethan Holiday and
be the first overall pick. It's something we should pay
attention to. So do you kind of agree with like
the crazy volatility and maybe maybe the draft equity of
teams might be important to value evaluating some of these guys.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I've talked to some amateur scouts that are, you know,
been working on the draft, and there's just no consensus.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
And I think that's the issue.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Like every I go back to, like every year I've
done FYPD work and it's like there's always feels like
consistent there at least a clump of consensus at the top,
and I don't think we have that this year.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
I think there could be. I'm maybe not going to
be there.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
I think Ethan Holiday is probably consensus, but I don't
even have him my top ten.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
And that'll be a good talking point for the show,
I think.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
But yeah, it's going to be a wild, wild draft,
I the guests, and we'll know early. I think I
think we kind of have an idea like who goes
in the top four, and then after that you know
it's going to be wild.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
So I'm really excited to see that.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
And yet teams definitely could have guys all over the board.
You know, there's gonna be guys that we might talk
about today that teams don't have a first round value on.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
And you know, like I.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Think some of my holiday I guess people may call
it hate, but it kind of comes from the data
on the showcase circuits and and just talking to some
scouts that have covered them, and you know, like, I
think you've got a wide range of opinions on a
lot of different guys. So you know, who knows how
it plays out, but I think teams teams will tell
us for sure.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Yeah, and handshaking and deals might be one of the
biggest things that moves this draft as well. I mean,
you know, and and what is the term that you
would say, like a popular secret or something like that,
is that like, you know, Ethan Holliday wants to drop
to the Rockies and the Rockies want him, Like that's
a pretty kind of like well known one. So it's

(20:58):
like handshake or you know, there was a rumor that
came out about I think it was Washington, really, I
think it was Washington coveting like cruse school crap, So
like if they wanted to underslot the top and have
him fall, you know, like there's stuff like that, so
you might get a lot more of that than we've
seen in the past. But that is what we're gonna
do here in just a tiny bit, claike your workover

(21:21):
at Dynasty dugout. You've been fully committed to this. You
do a fantastic job of prospect breakdown in general. I
wanted to do a little tiny look at some interesting
second half prospects just to start. You have, you know,
so much scout evaluation and just covering all of the
guys that between the futures game and second half and
promotions that maybe there's some either situations that are really

(21:45):
interesting or some names that we should be paying attention
to it. And I actually want to present one to
you to start before we get into the first year player.
Something I've been waiting for for a long time and
I want to get your take on. This is a
roun Escobar. I think his second and half is a
critical second half to the type of player he can be,
because it just seemed like for way too long he

(22:08):
was kept at a ball and I think most people
that have paid attention would probably agree with that that
you know, a twenty year old prospect who's really, really,
really exceeding that you wanted to see him get moved
earlier and was that a warning sign? You know, that's
something to think about. On the season, it's eleven homers,
a ten stolen bases to eighty six average two eighty

(22:28):
five is what he hid in low Ay. He's only
played one game in high as we're recording this, but
he did have a hit. He's hitting three thirty three,
He's got a couple of RBIs. I'm curious that your
second half take with Aron Escobar because of that long
hold at a ball and the second half really will
now represent his big challenge. Are you do you think
this is going to be critical to how he should move?

(22:50):
Is it kind of irrelevant? What's you take?

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (22:53):
I mean I've kind of been overly high on him,
I guess for a while since seeing him in the spring.
I got I got a lot of a roun when
I was in Florida, just happened to be at a
lot of the minor league spring training games that he
was in Phillies were playing, and yeah, he just he
looked like a dude from the start, and then you
look at like the underlying data and really like even
when he had a slower month, you know, the underlying

(23:16):
still looked really good and honestly had improved everything. It's
interesting because like you look at the body and it's like, okay,
like how does the body project for a room? And
I think that's kind of the biggest question, but like
for me, it's not that big of a deal.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
I look at the glove.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I think it was pretty solid, and you know all
my looks that I've seen of a room, and yeah,
it's interesting to now see him up in Hia because
they've also got Devin Saltabond who plays some second base,
so like a run's probably gonna get a little run
at third, which would be interesting. I'll be curious see
how that shakes out. But yeah, that's just so good

(23:53):
and he's just he's shown really good approach, really good
contact skills, very aggressive in the zone, which I liked
to see his zone swing rates eighty one percent, like
one of the higher zone swing rates in the game.
The evs are good too, so you know, there's he
checks a lot of boxes. I think your biggest knot
could probably be the launch angles. Less barrels created because

(24:13):
of the launch angles, but he does hit the ball hard,
and if he can get a little bit of loft
in that swing, then all of a sudden, really cooking.
But yeah, he's like a top forty ish prospect for me.
He's kind of floated there for a couple of months,
and who knows. I mean, it could be one of
those cases where we see him now get exposed in
Hya and yeah, you're right, it'll be a good storyline
to follow.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah, and that's been like my big thing. I've had
Ivan as the top one hundred prospect, but it's like,
all right, I think we hit the level. I want
to see the challenge and we've been waiting three months
and now we're going to get that challenge. And I
think that that is going to be the difference between
me being comfortable moving him to that next tier up. Okay,
we are good being in the forties, but he's been
kind of a constant guy that was a hitter. I

(24:54):
was really curious what your take on the level of
importance in the second half. I'm gonna throw a picture
at you and then you have curated some great names
for second half prospects of target, But this is somebody
that you just recently saw You've talked about, so I'm
not throwing anything at you won't be comfortable with. Is
Cam Keminittty who you know? I think coming into the
draft it's obviously always arguable, but like maybe the top

(25:16):
high school pitcher, near the top, top one hundred guy.
And then things started to kind of unravel a little bit.
He's only put up thirty two innings. It was a
really bad start, I mean his May when he first
started pitching, not and didn't really get got to the
fourth once, giving up two three, four earned runs. But
then all of a sudden, over his last three starts,

(25:37):
he's gone four four and three, giving up only two
earned runs. The strikeouts are coming. Looks like he's really
finally finding some stride. I know you recently saw him.
Do you think a big second half is in store
for cam Kaminittty now that he is kind of like
established into figuring out who he is into the minor leagues,
we know that there can be some sometimes aggressive promotions

(25:59):
and stuff. Do you think the second half is a
potential big outcome for cam KEMMINITTI?

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
He's you know, he had a forearm injury in the spring,
which is the latest start, and obviously, like that's a
big red flag for a lot of people. But again,
he has not looked hurt this year. I've watched a
lot of them. His pro debut last year, the only
start he made last year in full season ball, and
then was there last weekend when he threw and he

(26:28):
looks fine. The velocity's up. You know, I would be
concerned if the veloscity was down from last year. Is
actually up now, and he's he's working ninety three ninety
five consistently. He's you know, more ninety fives than threes though,
and he was he's clipped a couple of ninety sevens
ninety eight, so you like to see those things. And
he's really kind of refined that split change up and

(26:49):
it's looked incredible. He's still in a couple of slider variations,
and really the biggest difference last year from when I
saw him, Like I feel like the braves are really
limiting him. Like the I think seven of his first
eighteen pitches last year were all like fastballs. It was
just like okay, like this is by design, clearly, and
like he didn't showcase his change up, which was a
good pitch in high school, but it looked really good

(27:11):
this weekend, Like it's more of like a split variation
now and it looks awesome. So yeah, I think the
injury concerns are behind him at this point. He's sharpening
the command, which you like to see. He's missing a
ton of bats, like he's just he's really too good
for single A hitters. And he's still eighteen. You know,
it's kind of crazy to say he was supposed to
be in the summer's draft. He reclassified so like he

(27:33):
would be eligible to be drafted like this weekend, which
is crazy. So he doesn't turn nineteen until August the eighth,
so still very young when you think about it, and
where he is developmentally is very impressive. So honestly, I
wouldn't put it past the Braves to send him to
rome Hya, And if that happened over the next couple

(27:54):
of weeks, we know the Braves can be aggressive, wouldn't
be shocking at all.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
So yeah, I think a big second half's an order
for him.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
What do you think from a valuation standpoint, Let's say
you know this continues, he gets a promotion, he keeps going,
is he a top end of season, top ten, top fifteen,
top twenty, Like, what's the what do you think the
SPA You don't have to like get super specific. What's
the general range? Do you think that he he sits up?

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yeah, I think you could probably argue top fifteen pretty comfortably.
I mean, he's inside my top one hundred room to rise.
I know Baseball America got pretty aggressive with him this
last update they did, so Yeah, I think it's realistic
to say top fifteen, maybe even top ten, and one
of the better left handed pitching prospects in the game. Like,
he's definitely got that kind of upside and potential. So

(28:41):
all comes down to command and honestly, like it looked
pretty sharp this last weekend, and I think he's slowly
getting there. We look on the ledger, he had like
a four walk start when he had first gone back
to single A. But it feels like he's really getting
that feelback, which is important.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
I think that's a big part of the evaluation.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
You picked out some names for us to talk about.
These are some, you know, I think, some intriguing second
half players, some second half prospects. You got a couple
of pitchers, a couple of hitters. Why don't you Why
don't you start with your pitchers.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yeah, so I went with a couple of pitchers that
I think could debut in the majors. So we've got
a couple of Triple A guys. And Troy Milton with
the Detroit Tigers is the first one where I liked
him a lot coming into twenty twenty four where he
had some outlier pitch data in twenty twenty three, got
a hold of it. I was like, okay, like it
seems like there could be potential here, and he just

(29:32):
kind of laid an egg. Last year he had a
five ones he wrote and one hundred innings near one
four whip and it was just bad across the board.
But Melton nowt back this year split time between double
triple A has looked really good. We're twenty six innings
into his Triple A career. But I could see the
Tigers getting kind of aggressive here, because again, this is

(29:54):
a contending team. The Tigers have the best record in
the American League, and here they have a a twenty
four year old prospect that could have stuff that could
help this team. And it's a pretty deep arsenal of
pitches it's that kind of an outlier fastball that sits
ninety seven with really good ride from his release point.
It's a lower release, slow like five foot five inch

(30:14):
release height.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
He can touch triple digits.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
It's a pretty solid change up with good fade as well.
Good slider in the mid eighties, got a curveball. So
it's a deep arsenal of pitches here for Troy Milton.
And I looked at Melton and I was high on him,
was low on him again last year, and now he
looks back. So I look at him as a prospect
that he has the stuff that could be like a
top one hundred ish prospect, and he's ready, which only helps.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
So Troy Melton's won. And to CoA Robi an old friend.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
He was in the AFL a couple of years ago,
I guess, and we had gotten to see him where
another one where he was really good.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
He struggled a lot last year.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Injuries have kind of been his story, but Roby has
been pretty solid. I know there's been some ups and
downs in triple A, but you look at what Roby's
doing and I've always loved the arsenal with Roby.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
He's got a good feel for a command.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
And it's another one where the Cardinals, like, while they're
not like in I'll say they're not like in contention
like Tigers. They are in the contention for like a
wild card spot. This rotation kind of gets interesting in
Saint Louis, and we know they need arms. So Roby
was what I looked at and said, Okay, like I
feel like this guy could contribute to this team.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
And another one.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
He's mid nineties on the fastball, it's got good ride.
It's a you know, it's not as lowver leased point
as Troy Melton, but he gets good extension on the pitch.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
It's a really good curveball.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
I think he showed us that when he was in
the AFL fading change up, got a slider. He'll throw
a sinker at times too. So I looked at Coole
Robie and he's another one where maybe i'd been to
Marshal hum but probably fair given his performance last year
and the consistent injury history. But I look now and
he seems to look healthy and back, and I think

(32:02):
Roby might be ready to contribute in the Major.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
So those about two arms, Milton and Roby.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
Yeah, he's really taken an interesting path to Roby. I
mean just you know, in really interesting prospect outed with
the Rangers and then gets moved on, and you know,
there was this there was this idea that like that
pitch mix was going to take him really far, and
they've got this really interesting collection and he just kind
of tapered back. Multiple of these guys, by the way,
like hit the AFL and I feel like they've tapered back,

(32:28):
like Cooper Jerpy kind of did that a bit to
co Robi. Quite a few guys that have been here
that have taken a little bit more seasoning and maturing.
I really like the Robi call here on the hitting side.
You've got to what I've seen when I have not
seen in person. These are these are going to be
some interesting names for people, so big important second halfs
that make these guys intriguing. Who are they?

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Yes, Kyle Carros of the Rockies, And he's so fascinating
to me because you look at him and you see
power hitter. He's like six', five like to. Twenty he
just has the low of like a big time power.
Bat he's kind of opposite in the sense where he's
a very good feel for contact. Hitter he's In DOUBLE
a And hartford and he's had an incredible first. Half

(33:12):
one of my buddies that works With hartford is just, raved,
raved raved About caros and his ability at the plate
and obviously in the. Field we're looking at a really
good glove at third base, two like a digital gold
glove third. BASEMAN i want to see where the power
is For. Caros that's really my biggest. Thing you, know
we know the hit tools, there we know the approaches.
THERE i mean we're looking at a three nineteen four

(33:33):
to twenty eight four ninety seven slash right, now but
just four home. Runs he has two hundred thirty plate,
appearance has missed a little, time but eighteen, doubles two.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Triples is this a college?

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Bat he's twenty. Two we'd like to see the home
run power. Come so that's What i'm watching closely because
if he does get to a little more, power then
all of a, sudden LIKE i think we're looking at
a top one under prospect.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Here just giving the.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
PEDIGREE i, mean he gets the ball in the, air
he can get to the pool. Side it's just where
are the evs and the home? Run and that's really
What i'm looking for For Kyle, carros WHO i assume
you've seen him when he was out in As.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Wenham, yeah and he.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Rehabbed he was going through like a rehab STAND i
think a couple of weeks back and he was out.
Here SO i saw him in rookie, ball saw him
during spring, training and THEN i think it was he
was out here for a couple of games rehabbing as.
Well so, yeah he's just been big body guy since day.
One so he is pretty. Fascinating.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Yeah the other guy is like a completely off the radar.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Guy It's eddie.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Mcletty that's M i c ch e l e t
T I eddie, mccoletty Junior Toronto Blue. Jays he was
drafted out Of Virginia tech last, year eighth round, pick
and he had some pretty intriguing college data last year
which kind of caught my eye in the draft. Time
but again this was somebody that was a senior. Sign

(34:48):
he's twenty three right, now he's In. Hia So mikoletti's
had an awesome. Year you look at the surface, numbers you, know,
okay like it's it is an eight sixty three, ops
but two forty.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Average you're, like, eh, like, okay the average isn't. There
he's hit fourteen home.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Runs but how this guy's, Progressed like you look at
how a season has gone, on and the majority of
this production has really come like In may And. June
so even let's Go june, forward So june through, now
so one hundred and twenty four played appearance is twenty nine,
games eight, homer six, doubles a triple two ninety four
eleven six'. Ten slash he's like progressively. Gotten better it's

(35:26):
really elite Contact, with miickeletty really good feel, insonne contact
low chase rates and it's evident you see the difference
in the average and you'll be pee There. With mikletty
but is this? Power legit he's, Another one, like okay
let's see him or IN double a now he obviously
needs to Go To new, hampshire first but given, his,

(35:47):
age like let's push this guy to double see what he.
Can DO and i think that's what the we're gonna
see From The. Blue JAYS and i can tell you
like they've been very intrigued internally by what this guy.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Has done he's.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
GETTING loft i mean a lot of flyballs, in line
dryves and getting to the. Pool side he's getting to
power like making. The Contact so. NIKOLAI'S fascinating i just
want to see this twenty three year old not do
it in A high a anymore and move to double
Go To new hampshire In The, eastern league tougher, hitter
environment and how does.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
He Fail so i'll be watching him. Pretty closely that's.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
A really good, name too for this, little experiment because that's,
Exactly right like that was the whole thing with a
run Esca par, it's like he looks like he has
the makings of being like this top twenty five prospect,
or whatever but, it's like get him the hell out OF.
Single a he's not quite, aged out but get him
the hell out. Of there this would be another one
of those where IT'S like i would have questions about
a twenty three year old hitting only, two forty but

(36:40):
if you've got organizational people that are excited, about him
he's had a big power output and he's IN, high a,
it's like let's get him out, Of there let's get
him TO. Double a let's see how, He matures let's
see how. He hits and that's exactly the point of
this last piece of. This Experiment and i'll give you,
an example and it's someone you had. Brought up is
there a guy in the second half that you're excited

(37:02):
to see to pay more. Attention To and i'll give
you a. Prime example you brought up this player about
a week or two ago that he was being called
and this doesn't have to Be A Dominican summer, league
player but he Brought Up kendriy churio With The Kansas,
city royals who was coming UP, from dsl seventeen, years
old and he Made and i'm so UPSET that i.

(37:22):
MISSED it i won't be missing the. Next one he
made his stateside debut two. DAYS ago i think it
was Here, in surprise which, you know it kills me
because it's like it's five minutes away from IT and i.
Missed it he makes his debut here and absolutely shoved.
Eight strikeouts you can go and check Out The surprise
royals Has a twitter account where they share. Some video

(37:44):
absolutely just. Disgusting curveball he was dropping on these guys
really good movement on, The fastball like you can see
from the conversation pieces about what, is written you know
you wrote about it to getting to see that kind
of pro debut on the surface or that state side
debut on, the surface like that is a Player that's
this is a little bit more me CENTRIC because i want,

(38:06):
to physically, you know really have that. Rookie ball we're
super excited to go out and see A picture i
in the. Second half i'm pretty excited to. SEE him
i think there's lots of candidates for this and this
is just more centric to you of putting. A focus
do you have A guy it could BE a dsl the,
State side it could be a guy moving up to,
You know hiaa wherever you get to look at or,

(38:28):
you know just put more focus on who's a player
on the second half that you have. Some focus i'm
going To Say hendrick tchurio. For, mine yeah it's.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
A good one in your backyard and a very. Unique
situation we don't rarely do we see pictures in their.
First year you know they've signed go bump FROM the
dsl to. The complex so it's a. GOOD question i
think it will probably hinge on the draft for me because,
You know i've got single and high, a here so,
you know looking at the teams that have affiliates, down

(38:54):
here like catching some of those, draft guys like where
does you know where does Who does washington take? First
off and then Like because i'm Looking and I've got
fredericksburg that will be down here in the End, of
July and I'll see Wilmington against like who Are the
nationals going to take and where do they? Assign them
so like that would be kind of cool to see

(39:14):
a first, overall PICK and i think that's you look at,
those guys like Typically the braves have been pretty aggressive
with draft picks and in mount to full. Season affiliates
so All the braves affiliates being, around here Who The red,
Sox take like if They Take gavin killen's like the
guy that's just like, linked there like they send him Here,
In greenville like do they send him a high? To,
start so, you know this would be some fun Ones

(39:36):
that i'd be looking, to see just giving like it's hard,
to say like who may bump from complex, up here
you know at. This time, So yeah i'll say probably
some draft guys and like just depending on where, They
land i'd be looking forward to.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
Seeing, those YEAH and dsl is kind of an easier
ONE because i would also like, to say like us
Work in zalez with the with, the giants like when
he comes here and this is the selfish me of
THE players i get to. See here those are the
things that are. Really excited but, you know sometimes it's
a guy moving up a level and you get to take.
A look but, you know hat tip to You on
kendrickchurio looked absolutely phenomenal in that in. That debut so

(40:10):
if you're in, deeper leagues go watch the video for
yourself if, you haven't but like really, good command love
how he will use, the fastball and that curveball. Was
SICK so i think there's like a there's a lot
of exciting stuff, with him. All right so speaking, of
draft we will be on both of us will be
on rode wire, next week will be, post draft will
know the, landing spots will probably theory feel a little

(40:34):
bit more affirmed to what our draft board is going
to look like you, DO this i. Do this, you
know however deep. YOU go i tend to like in
the pre, DRAFT stuff i tend to like to GO
like i think to establish like about fifty like you
could easily establish. TWO hundred i like to like lock into.
About fifty then once the, draft hits you get to

(40:55):
kind of see like, Organizational focus you get to see
where they. Were drafted you get, to see, you know
just the, potential groupings AND then i get like a
better feel for really locking into. The rest but this
is both of our early top ten early top ten
first year player from this weekend's, coming draft and it
will be an interesting listen to here where we are

(41:17):
here and what potentially could change into. Next week, as
mentioned the first year player draft is volatile. RIGHT now
i bet you would have a lot of, big differences
not just. AT one i think the top five for
a lot of people because it is a college, pitching
heavy high school, shortstop heavy and lacks consistent college hitting

(41:43):
that you can really. Bank on there is not, A,
knit kurtz there. Is not those guys are not here
and hell from, last year you can make a case
for wanting to invest more in college hitting because of
how aggressive teams were IN the afl into, the majors
but it's. Not there it's. Not there you're only saving
grace would be how aggressive or If the reds take

(42:05):
a college picture you know they're going to move him.
Pretty quick but it's a weird class where even the
high school shortstop and all the fun that, THERE is
i don't know like where the big. Upside goes so
all of this leads to an uncomfortable talk of what
it's going to look Like pre but the most fascinating
thing here that you, alluded TO and i want you

(42:26):
to kind of unload, on this is you've made the
decision to not Put ethan holiday even in your top.
TEN here i would say you can maybe argue it a,
little bit but it's probably some of the best raw
power in the high. SCHOOL class i, think consistency like
average EV's have kind of been. A thing he's. Even
done he did was It With eric simms or one

(42:51):
of the. Momentum guy he did SOMETHING where i remember
it was LIKE a ev contest and you could actually
see him kind struggle there getting to some of the
EV's and that was just like this little. Weird thing
but contact it could be maybe a question getting to.
It consistently but there's like a raw p, pre talent
incredible bat Speed that i'm putting him. At one i'm
banking there's a little. Name value the idea that he
Goes to colorado. IS great i think the bloodlines speak.

(43:14):
REALLY well i love the, power POTENTIAL and i don't
think there's as many batting average issues compared to maybe
some other like the balance of how he makes contact
with his power versus guys that make high contact with
almost little. Power projection i'm just siding, on him but
you with talking to some scouting people and, your evaluations

(43:36):
he's not a top ten fantasy prospect for you, right
now so break.

Speaker 4 (43:39):
IT down i think it makes even harder in.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
This draft you look at last, year's drafts look at
twenty twenty, three DRAFTS and i think there's a clear
argument against it because, Who else like you look at
all the, other talent and this year you look at,
and say well?

Speaker 4 (43:54):
Who else so that makes.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
It HARD and i STRUGGLE with i, really do, because
honestly like we have no clue how high school hit tools.
WILL develop, I Mean tamar johnson slamm dunk, like right
he was the best hit tool that we've seen in the.
Prep ranks and however Long and i've Said On tamar johnson,
a LOT and i think he's like a forty hit,

(44:19):
at best and he was a seven, coming out so.
It's hard we may look back, and, Say Okay ethan
holiday is a much better hitter than. We expected so hear.
Me out you go look at his high school numbers this,
senior season and. THEY'RE gaudy, i mean they're what you
expect out of a first. Overall pick so we, then

(44:39):
filter like, competition wise like what's? He FACING so i
go BACK and, i filter and again a lot changed in,
the year which makes. It hard but when he was
facing the top arms in, this class when he was
facing The top, showcase, talent like the numbers just. Weren't there,
and again could it have actually changed in a. Year's,
TIME yes i acknowledged. That completely but we saw a

(45:01):
pretty rough. Hit tool we're talking like an in zone
contact rate of like seventy percent last summer On, the
showcase not pulling a single fastball that he faced over
ninety miles, an hour struggles against ninety two plus struggles against.
Some spin now you look and obviously the powers there
for Days. LIKE holiday, i mean it's, Prodigious power but

(45:22):
is he a? Thirty hit does he hit? To?

Speaker 4 (45:24):
Twenty like?

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Is that is that the kind of thing we're looking
at and Again like i'm these are this is not
a comp BUT like i look back At Like. Elijah green,
You Know elijah green, had tools he had the. Big
power and where are? We Now and i'm not Saying
That seaton holiday by, any. MEANS don't i hope you
listen and you're not hearing me say that that's a
comp by, At all but it is in the back of.

(45:46):
My mind we look at these prep hitters and a
prep corner Infielder like holidays at. Third baseman what's it
look like now if he lands, IN cores, i mean
all of, a sudden We're looking attle different cause he
can get away with bad contact in a nice bag and.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Average boost so like that's a very very nice landing spot.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
For him it's very likely. Situation too so before you,
go on if he just if He's A, colorado rocky
is he a top ten prospect?

Speaker 3 (46:12):
To you PROBABLY because i think THEN then, I say
i still believe he's a, Thirty HIT but i think
that thirty hit could be a two fifty plus Hitter
in colorado versus maybe two twenty thirty hitter.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
Anywhere else so.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
The ONLY thing i don't love about it and see
this is a. Weird THING like i love the idea
of him Hitting, in COLORADO and i think creates a
better basis, and STUFF and i affirm, to it BUT
like i just don't love their development. Like that that's the.
Other thing LIKE if i Think That ethan holiday is
the top guy based on that power potential and the

(46:45):
and hit tool development and stuff, like, That yes colorado is,
a plus, BUT boy i do kind of like it
just negates, to me Like the colorado upside negated by
the development Of, the rockies which is like you can
argue What the angels And the rockies might be too
worse developmental teams like you need you can't. Have projects
and If If ethn holiday is more of, a project

(47:06):
you know what is greater the Environment in colorado or
the negative Of Their so i'm just kind of like
throwing that back on both sides. Of IT but i
was curious if He was colorado he would be a
top ten well like roughly would? You be would you be?
Top five for you if he Was?

Speaker 4 (47:19):
IN colorado i don't KNOW because i.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
HAD him i had him eleventh, Right, now LIKE as
i was parsing, This out i'm just trying to do
all the writeups of the players and then kind of rank,
them accordingly try to get a. Better feel AND like
i had him come in eleven and it, was like
you could probably argue that that's a tier like as
we go through the, top ten like, my tier he
would fall in that heer tier of hitters where, it's like,

(47:42):
you know eight, through ten And then holiday in, That
too so, you know looking, at, THAT like i think
you could argue the top of that tier put him
above some of the college arms we'll. TALK about i,
don't Know Like, jojo PARKER who i, Have ahead like
where does he land and how does that affect? The
STATUS so i think there's those very that, you know
we look at and say, and obviously like you get

(48:03):
one of these arms Land in colorado and all, a
sudden like. They're out like if Let's say holiday does
go One to Washington and Colorado says I'm Taking jamie
Arnold Or liam doyle like they they're not gonna be
my top, ten anymore just can't.

Speaker 4 (48:16):
Do it so those elements could change.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
The ranks. VERY interesting i Do have holiday right now
at the tippy top at the Idea. Of colorado also
the idea of being able To See jackson holiday and
his development and how he's matured through and maybe that
kind of Like soak off Effect that i'm not Sure

(48:39):
That ethan holliday is a lesser of a of, a
PROSPECT and i think there's actually more power. Potential there
so it. Is interesting but there's. Some volatility i'm okay with,
with VOLATILITY and i think one of the THINGS that
i can hear you battling, WITH it i do the
same thing is where you're, just, like. Hey listen there's
also just. Not consistency like if you if you, want
consistency go take a. College picture if you're in a
point league're probab. Feeling, great otherwise the consistency here is

(49:02):
like you can get some type of a starter to,
some degree like, you, know Well If jamie arnold can
not throw his slider to what is it to writings
all the time and they can figure out, Another pitch
like there's a, worst case he's a. Fifth starter, you
Know Maybe kate anderson is the. Number one so like
that's where. You go but when there's so, much volatility,
it's like then take. Some shots what's worth taking. The

(49:25):
shot and THAT'S why I Think ethan holiday makes more
sense at the, tippy top because, it's, like what what
does the floor? Look like speaking, of floor you're number.
ONE overall i was my eyes opened up at THIS
and i kind of see WHY and i see where.
This happens but you've got probably a definitely different number
one overall first year player at, this moment and you
Went With, eli willetts who has been rumored to maybe

(49:48):
be a guy that could take an underslot with the
first overall pick If the nationals decided to, do that
and then they could probably, spend that, you know on a.
Later Pick and i've been doing the same thing with
you with some. Write ups i'm really intrigued with him
tremendous ability to. Make contact switch hitter seems to thrive
a little bit more as. A lefty he's a, plus

(50:08):
defender he's a. Plus runner so, It's, like okay you're
confident he'll move through the system from. His defense he's
going to, steal bases make a ton, of contact and
maybe even the, possibility that like in the right, developmental
spot he can continue to hit. For power and you
want to, KNOW what i kind of put a COMP
on i kind of put LIKE. A cj abrams on
him a. Little bit, there's like maybe it's not quite

(50:29):
in the, same speed but like there's a body feel
that's kind, of similar and it's interesting if he were
to be attached To, The nationals so that's a and
again the contact maybe of a much higher degree. Than,
cj abrams but like from a like where could he go?
To fantasy that was SOMETHING that i kind of. Sat
on so that's my Take On. Eli willets i've got
him in my, top ten not number. One overall you

(50:51):
have him as your number, one overall so, more important
let's hear from You On.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
ELI willets i think he's the safest prep bat in,
the class and in, this CLASS like i think, you
know there's a lot. Of volatility you talk about Upside,
with holiday like Safety. With willets but he's also one
of the youngest players in THE class. A reclassifier he's
seventeen and six months on. DRAFT day i mean he
won't turn eighteen Until late December if i'm, not mistaken

(51:17):
so he'll spend most of the year. At seventeen he
would have been young a young prep player in next summer's.
Draft class he went on the showcase circuit last summer.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
At sixteen and did. ABSURD things i mean.

Speaker 3 (51:30):
Contact rates against the best in, his class like, Ninety
percent so like that's. Overall contact those are insane numbers
that we're looking at. The swing, YOU know i think
it checks a ton. Of boxes, you know he can
you talk about POOLING velocity i talked about that was
Something that holiday.

Speaker 4 (51:46):
Didn't do that's What will.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
Its Did like willets got to the pool side with
velocity consistently at sixteen, Years old so that really stands out.
To me it's a line drive and airpool APPROACH where
i think, Right now willet's biggest question mark might.

Speaker 4 (51:59):
Be power, but again and he's listed six.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
TO one i might argue that he's smaller, than that
but six one one seventy, five LIST he's i kind
of threw out Like a kevin mcgonagalls cop. On him
but he's bigger. Than McGonagall he might run better than taller. Than, McGonagall, yeah,
yeah yeah. Not big mcgonagall's pretty, pretty yoked but.

Speaker 2 (52:19):
He's yeah he's like a, thick dude but like.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
Yeah, Shorter yeah So like willis is a little bit
taller in. That sense. He runs he's a.

Speaker 3 (52:25):
Plus runner as, you mentioned he's been pretty aggressive on the,
base paths like he's going to. STEAL bases i think
that hit tool is going to be plus good breaking,
ball recognition like he just checks kind of all.

Speaker 4 (52:38):
The boxes such a simple operation in the box. For
HIM where i.

Speaker 3 (52:42):
Look at mcgonagall's development and McGonagall again was that.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
Hit tool where's? The power and we saw the.

Speaker 3 (52:49):
Power to develop, With him and that obviously doesn't happen,
with EVERYBODY but i think that there is that potential
that we look at that, and say, you know this
is Who will.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
It's is now on.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
The floor LIKE the i, would say like a low
potential outcome would be Like A cole young type where,
you know you saw the hit Tool With. Cole young he,
you know you move pretty quickly now in. The, majors
yes there's been some struggles that's kind of to be
expected for a rookie in, the Majors But cole young high.
HIT tool I think willets does run Better than, young

(53:17):
though and that would be like the case if the
power doesn't develop Like It's cole young with a little
more SPEED so i think that.

Speaker 4 (53:24):
There's a, high floor but also there's a pretty high.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Ceiling too so that's my Argument for willets at one
is there's so much well roundedness with. That profile he's
good in, The field he's going to stick up, the
middle and he just does everything.

Speaker 4 (53:38):
Exceptionally well just does the.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Power come if, it does then it's going to be
A like i think he's, a consistent like twenty twenty
type player with maybe a little bit room. For more
so couple that with a hit tool that could hit
for average, and like that's what attracts Me To.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Eli, willets yeah and if the power, REALLY develops i
think that's the thing that. Gets there but it also
shows it's like do you want? The safety do you
want to? Play upside that's what makes a Guy Like
jojo parker maybe the. Most interesting maybe he's the combination between.
THOSE two i, Guess Said i'm i'm really Intrigued By,
eli WILLETTS but i have a hard struggle figuring OUT

(54:14):
where i like the POWER because i want to PLAY
like i want to play, higher power especially. IN fantasy
i like runners. And stuff but That's Why ela willitts
could be a really, good combination where some of these
other guys, might be, you know better run with power
questions or you know you have big power, without Run
Like ela willets does have, the combination but there there's
a little element of like what level. Of safety so

(54:36):
here's our. Top five my top Five Is, Ethan holliday
i've got I've a arquette, At Two liam doyle, At
Three kate anderson, at Four And seth hernandez. At five
claigue Has Got eli willets, At One kate anderson, At
Two seth hernandez, At Three gavin fiene, at Four And
jojo parker. At five so you can tell in that
that we only have two players that are agreed in the,

(54:59):
top five That Is kate Anderson And, seth rnandez and
we both have the college picture above the. High School
so i'm A little i'm a. NOTCH lower I Have
liam doyle over both of. Those guys just on, That
fastball lance, Mccu lan Lance Is lance brasdowski's excitement about
that fastball is just something to pay. Attention to, just

(55:19):
also the development Of the angels might be something that holds.
HIM back i just want to talk about those two
pictures real quick before we go. Any Further, kate anderson
there might be some questions on like. The fastball he
obviously got tons. OF strikeouts i think his secondaries or
something could like really protect him if there ends up
BEING like i don't think there's like shape issues, or

(55:40):
whatever but whatever, it is it ends up Being With,
kate anderson like a lot of spin and stuff. Like
that there's a lot to like. About Him But seth
rnandez is just it seems like off, the charts that's.
The thing but he's risky because he's a high. School
guy and that's THE thing i haven't quite. Gotten over
there's an argument to be said That maybe seth is

(56:00):
like the. Top guy it's, it's, ridiculous crazy. Crazy stuff
mid nineties fastball graded out insanely high with, great spin
an incredible nice twelve six curve with spin the change
up that that's his bread, and BUTTER and i think
it was a sixty five percent miss rate this. PAST year,
i mean. It's disgusting he's a little bit older for,

(56:21):
the class but he's still a high. School arm both
of THESE guys i think are definitely lock in. Top
fives we agree on that a little bit different of
where they're placed, in there but the orders. The same
what's your Take on Cad?

Speaker 3 (56:35):
And, SETH yeah I think seth's the best prep variety
we've seen in. A while, You know it's it's hard,
to say like since this guy and we always like to,
do that but like in, the Present Like seth nadez
is just. So good it's the if you want to
build a high school pitcher in, a lab like this
is what they. Look like he's, six'. Four he's projectable
his athleticisms. Off the charts, Think it's underrated like this

(56:57):
is a kid, that could hit play the field and
did for This really, good corona team, a special athlete mover.
On the MOUNDS fastball, like i, said mid nineties he's
stolen from like a five to nine release and it's
like sixteen eighteen inches of.

Speaker 4 (57:11):
Vert right now that change up plays well. Off of
it that's.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
A BEAUTIFUL pitch, it's i mean you go and watch
it like close, Up and wow like high schoolers don't
typically have that. Change up DEVELOPMENT it's, and i know
like people will hate this comp because he didn't Turn
out Is. Dylan les go but let's. Go didn't turn
let's go didn't not pan or hasn't panned because of.
His change up that change Up's dirty and hernanez has

(57:36):
that change up with like fifteen inches of armside and
it's just it just dies in mid air and kind.
Of drops off you mentioned the. Curveball high spinner it's
really good depth in a little. Bit of sweep he'll
work that slider in the low to mid eighties two
more of, A gyro shape so it's a true four
pitch mix from a prep arm. Which is SPECIAL and
then i think he's got a really, good feel too

(57:58):
like he controls.

Speaker 4 (57:59):
In commands those.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
Pitches very well so that COMBO of traits i think
is kind of an outlier for a right. Handed pitching
prospect now teams are going to be, RISK a, First
i think and there was talk at One point that
hernandez could.

Speaker 4 (58:13):
GO one one i don't think. THAT'S the case I
actually think, hernandez.

Speaker 3 (58:16):
Could fall and that could BE interesting because i think
then people will DOWNGRADE. Him An fypds but i'm not,
Going to like i'm not going to move my rank
of him unless He, Goes to colorado like that's The
only reason i'm going to move My Rank.

Speaker 4 (58:28):
Of seth hernandez the evaluation is.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
WHAT it is i know some orgs develop, better, Than
others whatever but as long as He's, NOT in Colorado i.
THINK i'm good i actually feel pretty decent about him
going TO a decent Org. Like later dow like he
May go to toronto at eight and People have not.
Toronto's pitch development i'm actually pretty intrigued by. WHAT they've,
done i know like you look at their past draft

(58:50):
picks and. Their first rounders they maybe haven't pand it's
been a, lot of injuries but look at the guys
that have popped. Off This year Trey Savage Called steven
gage stana for there's a long list of Arms That
the blue jays have done a. Good JOB developing so
i Would actually like hernandez. In That spot so i'll
Have to say hernandez really. Good prep arm You Look,
at kate anderson it's kind of like a some of

(59:12):
the parts arm that has, a deep arsenal, really good
command but also the stuff. Is PRETTY good like i
don't think he's got like the the flashiness of A
Fastball of liam doyle or he doesn't have that super
flashy Change Up like. Seth HERNANDEZ does but i Think With,
with kate anderson like we're looking at like four pitches

(59:32):
that are all like above. Average for better it's like
a KIND of a, i DON'T know like i looking
AT cops like i kind of think back To Like
a max.

Speaker 4 (59:41):
FRIED early career i have.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
It written right here. On My thing lance brasdowski had
had thrown a couple of different ones and He put
the max one ON there and, i, IMMEDIATELY went oh.
I love that i LOVE it because i see it
because it's a IT'S a high v AND d's big
rpm curveball with an, upper you know eighty slider with a.

(01:00:06):
Bunch of movement he's got. To change it he's got
four pitches he. Can go to there's a big. Curveball
in there it was a thirty LIKE a thirty k
minus walk percentage like all of. THOSE put in, I,
was like oh that's the com that's the higher UPSIDE
comp and i really fell in love with that. One
for kid but that also kind of tells you a,
story of, like you know is that going? TO be,

(01:00:27):
them i mean if you knew you were Going to
get max freed out OF the for fypd like you'd
be pretty, comfortable with it you're not one hundred. Percent
of sure there's also that little thing that's out there
about how he lost some Stuff In The college world
series and the, data CAME out like ivb went down,
by like three it was Like NINETEEN college his ivb
wasn't it was down to Sixteen In The. College world

(01:00:47):
series so everything kind of moved down. A tiny bit
and you know you're gonna tick down with like a
Major league, baseball but like, as YOU'RE mentioning and i
mean to cut you, off with it but it's just
like there's, four great pitches DOLID pitches that i think
he can go back to. And pitch around that makes
me that the max read comp is the thing that
has especially stood out to ME on why i think.

(01:01:09):
He is interesting That that's the but, THAT'S the ceiling,
I think though and that's not a bad ceiling or,
anything like that but people are gonna be battling, With
This Whole like kate anderson is the number, one overall
pick which is, likely to happen yet he might not
be the first pitcher. On everybody's board, and you know
might hover in. That top five that's one of those
weird things people are gonna have. To, deal WITH yeah

(01:01:30):
and i think.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
That's, the question, Like you know anderson's sitting ninety three,
on the fastball and you NEED that outlier ivb or
the outlier's shape to. Make it work he's, like release
characteristics they're, Not overly unique so you need to live
on that ride and in that. Vertical proch angle if
you're gonna. Sit, ninety three now if he sits fifteen
six hanches of vert as we get, into pro ball then.

Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
There's some questions that's not to say he.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Can't, Tick UP though like I Look at kate, anderson
and say there's probably a little bit of room for
him to add a couple ticks, on the fastball so
you sit in ninety five and all, of a sudden.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
It's completely, different so yeah he'll.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Be PRETTY fascinating but i do like the, Secondaries a
lot like you look at what he was able to
do as he manipulates. This change up you, mentioned the,
slider the curveball and beautiful, two plane break and he
pitched against the best of the best in college PITCHING,
in the sec Pitching Into The, college world series and
we saw him battle tested at every level and. He

(01:02:28):
JUST performed so i think that there's some confidence there
just given that we've.

Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
Seen the, performance but again that.

Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
Doesn't Always translate so i'll be, fascinated to see like
what Do we get was it just some Fatigue In
The college world series? AT that point i mean he
had pitched a, ton of innings one hundred, And twenty
innings like it's a lot of innings for A college arm,
so like fatigue did that play a factor in the
fastball shape kind of ticking? BACK a bit, i DON'T
know but i do think that that's a question. WE

(01:02:55):
won't answered i do feel like he's probably. GOING one
one i am kind of in. AGREEANCE with you i
think that seems more likely than not. At this point
and You point to washington's development, and, you say okay
like what? If they, done and honestly like their track
record with developing pitchers hasn't been. All that, great you Know.
THEY developed gore i would argue That they developed gore

(01:03:18):
to where.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
He is now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Oh he's a message before he Was, raised.

Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
With, yeah but like can we just point to injuries
on some, other guys Sure You've, GOT travis sakora i, mean,
right now yeah we we he kind of already, had
the stuff you had Your all and susana that kid
threw hard as all.

Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Get out, BEFORE so yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
I don't know it's a fascinating, You know tailtale like
is the pitch dev different today, than it was you
know several years Ago when The Kavali's and cole henry's
and those types.

Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
Didn't work, out you. Know WE'LL see but I do.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
LIKE kate enough i think it's a good enough some
of the parts of, him To say like i'm confident
in putting him that HIGH.

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
In the fypd so we each have two other guys
that are in the top, five minor college. Your, high
SCHOOL again it's i think it's Gonna. BE about flavor
i talked about this a little bit, in The open
But i've got arquette. AT at two i spent like
Ten Minutes with travis bazana, the other day and the
way He talked about iva like he's been, talking TO

(01:04:15):
him like I felt like i was talking. To a
scout it. Was very impressive. By The, way travis bazana
WHO'S just like i just, love the guy, but you
know talked him up about just the size and the movement,
and the potential, and you know Some of the college data,
hit above, average you know ninety five plus evs as
far as percentage goes, on hitting him ninety five plus

(01:04:37):
above average in zone contact, one oh eight ninety eight,
percentile exit velocity, good barrel rates like it just it's.
Great all around and he's just a big projected six
foot five shortstop maybe the third like he if if
he was all the Good Stuff, Of colson montgomery like
that's the thing that you're kind. Of Banking on So i've.
Got eiva There Also, got liam doyle just best fast ball.

(01:05:00):
IN the CLASS i guess i do Worry if the,
angels get him they're just going to be, like good,
luck you know and it's like you kind of want
a little bit more. Out of him but he's a
freaking bulldog and. A STRIKEOUT monster so i got those.
Guys in There You've got Gavin Feene. And jojo Parker
I'm a. JOJO parker guy i Really Do like gavin.
FEEN as well I Really. Love jojo parker so you're

(01:05:20):
welcome to make any quick Comments on, the college guys if,
You want, that i've got but definitely want to get
your take On What got gavin feen to Be Four
and jojo. Parker, at FIVE.

Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
Yeah so i like.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
OUR kit too i think that you can squint and
you can see Like A little carlos korea just giving
that body and the, short sut potential, but you, Know,
you look yeah he hits.

Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
The ball hard he's.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
A fastball masher performed very, well against fastballs. As you
mentioned some questions against breaking balls had me a, little
more concerns and he had a like thirty eight percent
with rate on breaking balls in, college this.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
Year twenty eight percent on. Sliders Specifically too as i'm
LOOKING for that i have which is of the, first
round guys it's, Not, the worst no. Definitely, not great.

Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
Yeah so that's.

Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
That's a, question but overall, The CONTACT good like i
think he does check a. LOT of bucks i think
he's going to go in. The top five there's been
a lot of kind of smoke With him and seattle.
Should be interesting so they have not had like a.
Kind of shortstop it's like a cornerstone, in A while
and i think that's like a bunch Of.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
Short guys Cole Young's. AND colt emerson i Actually think
seth ornandez would Be. An incredible seattle THAT'S the grouping
i want. To see happen but IT would, BE i
mean i would LOVE it because i would get to. See, him, here.

Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Yeah YEAH definitely and i Think, THAT our quette i
think you could argue really anywhere. In that range, and
you know he's kind of in A tier where i'd
be fine with him in THAT same like i have
him in the same tier as, Like a, fiend so
like if you Want to, Put arquette there i'm totally good.
With As, well and doyle, LIKE you said i think

(01:06:54):
that you're one, hundred percent right you can't argue like the.

Speaker 4 (01:06:58):
FASTBALLS so good i actually love the. SPLITTER as well
i think that's.

Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
A nasty pitch and you know what We Saw from
liam doyle was JUST sort of i mean it's A
little herky jerky's high effort fall off hard and that's,
a little worrisome like As, he or leiver and he
could go a lot, Of WAYS here like i look
at him and He Could, Be ben joyce Like if the,
angels draft him As, HE been joyce i know that's
a lazy Comp because Been joyce also tennessee Guy. Through

(01:07:24):
hard angels he Also Could, Be garrett, croschet so, like
you know there you could go a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
Of WAYS here.

Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
I'm, I like doyle i don't have him that much further,
down the, Board but yeah i'm just going with some
prep upside and you know that's KIND of what I
see in theene where theen just looks the part like fene.
A physical specimen, he's six. Three two hundred he has very,
strong upper. Half explosive swing It's Really good EV's he's

(01:07:53):
put up like one, eleven's with wood which is pretty impressive.

Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
FOR his age a ton of. One hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Pluses he was he's interesting because like there's been kind
of a split camp where he was like the best
Performer on the showcase circuit last summer and there's been
some inconsistencies, at times since but very, low chase rate
very lows on miss against the best. In his class
so like it's Kind of what i'm looking at. Going
off of so that when you, couple the approach potential
contact and, in the, power, it's like okay like maybe

(01:08:21):
the best prep combo of hit and power if. It
all clicks this probably a. LACK of speed i think he's,
an average runner ticks down if. He feels out you
just look. At the frame maybe, not STEAL much but
i think that there's. Still good athleticism there's, really good
power natural third basement with a can. Of an Arm
So that's GAVIN fiene, who I Love, and JOJO parker
who i also like A lot where I look at

(01:08:43):
parker and he's another one where he's. A good athlete
you look at him and, you maybe say like he doesn't.
Really look that he looks kind of. Big or stronger it,
doesn't run well but he's clocked some really good sixty
times and really quick first step when, you watch him
and that's really start To me like parker is a
better athlete. Than he looks is he going to be a.
Big bass, dealer probably not, but you know you still

(01:09:06):
look at the athleticism and you get.

Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
That box checked it's just.

Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
A, ton of torque just, kind of natural easy loft
in that.

Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
Left hand swing, it's easy power a ton.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Of bat.

Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
Speed you KNOW the hits i think is pretty Good from,
what i've seen, good, launch angles contact biggest knock maybe,
a little passivity but you can live with that if
you're you're not chasing and doing damage. In the zone
so there's still question marks surrounding like Breaking Balls. With jojo,
parker BUT again, like i think as we've mentioned, with

(01:09:35):
our kit like there's probably like concerns with breaking balls
on a lot. Of these guys, they're they're amateurs so
still development, to be, Had you know parker like being probably.

Speaker 4 (01:09:45):
A third baseman a lot of these guys may.

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
Move off, shortstop but again like the power of the
field to, hit, The approach like parker just feels like
a pretty good. Bet for me and he's just been
sowing up boards where it wouldn't shock me if he's
in the top.

Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Seventh.

Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Pitch HONESTLY yeah and i keep going back and. Forth
about him that's that whole thing, where it's like, You.
Know power uh if you're a, power Focused Guy. Take
ethan holliday if you're a, contact Focused Guy. Take eli
willitts you're looking, for a combo It Might. BE jojo,
parker i, mean you know he was at the draft
combine putting, up you know some pretty easy one tens and,

(01:10:21):
stuff like that really good, launch angle, good you, know
barrel contact like he explodes, on the ball just is?
He gonna run is he, gonna you know move off
a little bit Like Maybe, he's brady, house you know
in that. Type OF development so i think it's a
really INTERESTING battle between i kind of keep moving him,
up AND down, AND i like I Don't have gavin
fiene in, my TOP ten, BUT i like i like.
The potential there there's a couple of those type of

(01:10:42):
third base guys. That are interesting so now, Six to
Ten I've got jojo, PARKER at Six I got ike,
Irish At seven gauge, wood At eight, Arm Yeah yeah eli,
willets At Nine and jason. Violette at ten that's kind
of my. Biggest risk One You've, got jamie arnold who,
Is Oh yeah jamie arnold. IS my eleven i was

(01:11:03):
about to say, This Is, Wrong Jamie, Arnold liam Doyle,
I've a Arquette, brendan Summer Hill. And Ethan conrad so
i'm saying all that you can hear some. OF the
differences i do Not have Summer hill in conrad inside.
My top ten you Do Not Have ike irish Wood
or le. Violette in yours but let's. Get Your take
jamie ARNOLD is AND i guess I Don't have jamie

(01:11:26):
arnold in. There as, well super. Fascinating incredible spin at
one time was seen as like. A top guy there
might be some questions about what he's gonna do as
far as, like you know fastball slider and maybe development
of like another pitch. Is in there we've already kind
Of talked About, doyle and arquette but feel free To
rattle Through arnold summer hill. Is super interesting i'm worried
there's just no. Power potential Whatsoever And, then ethan conrad

(01:11:48):
let's get the others of.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
Your, TOP ten, Yeah i, Mean arnold's interesting like he
could go a lot of ways where he's such, A
unique look like There's Shades. Of cooper jerpy he does So,
harder than jerpy so yet fact that in, and you
know it could go a lot Of, ways with arnold
but it's such, a UNIQUE look and i think that
there's definitely potential for him to be a really solid like.
Mid rotation, arm you know there Are questions that i'd

(01:12:12):
like to. Still Be answered but arnold did all. THE
right things i don't think he did anything to like push.
His stock down, so you know the last two for
me are kind of just LIKE shots, where i, think
you know it could in this kind Of draft where
i'm LOOKING at like I like gage I, think gage wood,
as you mentioned his stuff. Is so good he hasn't
thrown more than forty innings, in a season and that's

(01:12:34):
my biggest hold. Up with him it's, like injury history ability.
To throw innings if he, can hold up then he's
going to be.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Really really LAND said SOMETHING i really i really, am
HOLDING too because i think this is an astute. Thing
to say how he's drafted is probably going to tell
us a lot. About his health like his, stuff looks
ridiculous it is, short sample size but like his stuff in.
General looks pretty it's a crazy good fastball forty five,

(01:13:03):
percent with, rate his curveball he can, hard with sweep he's.
Got the slider some pretty big comps are on him
that organizations are putting. Comps on him so if he,
gets drafted height which, By the way i'm not sure
there's a middle. Ground with him it feels like he's
gonna be like a shocking, top ten pick or if there's,
an injury concern then that would, be you know he

(01:13:25):
drops out of let's say the first round or. Late
FIRST round So i think i'm taking kind of that
approach of like, if he, slides, it's like ooh maybe
medicals are a lot more worrisome than. We should be
but he could be one of those guys, where everyone's
Like whoa gage wood just went in front, of you
know Whoever The, hell seth, Rnandez You know seth fernandez

(01:13:45):
drops or. Something LIKE that and i think the health would.
Be really telling, But his stuff i'm not sure it's in. A,
major question no.

Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
Not at All It's very kate horton, reminiscent, where yeah
yeah A.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Good call horton he just he didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Throw the innings he had the big run in the
postseason and, He went seven so like that's not out
of question that like would. Go, that high, So you
Know Summerhill and ethan. Conrad Are Interesting, SO summer hill
i think it's fair to question the power legitimately because
he did see. A tick back thevs weren't. Great, this
year honestly it was like a three mile an hour drop,

(01:14:17):
from last year and you, kind of, question like why
and there's not a great, answer right now?

Speaker 4 (01:14:23):
Was he?

Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
Injured not sure, the contact ability the approach and speed
kind of do. It for me where it's a very well.
Rounded skill set he just checks a. Lot of boxes
he has very, good launch angles like you look, at
launch angles his ability to get to, the pool side
AND it's everything i. Want to see really, good swing
decisions very low with rates talking about like a ninety

(01:14:45):
ninety one, percent zone contact like an eighty eight percent
overall contact like so obviously like really outlier trades with a. Sixteen,
percent CHASE yeah the evs his nine percentile WAS like one,
o three six which, Is is low like you don't
want to see that from. A COLL bat and i
also went back in like his cape stuff and he.

Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
Was actually pretty respectable with.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
A wood bat so in the back, of MY brain
like i look at this, combo And Say if brennan
summerhill HAD maintained the evs he had to here in
his season in, twenty twenty four he's probably a top
five pick in this class just given the well. Rounded
SKILL set so i think it's fair to question where
does he Get TO power and, i Don't know but

(01:15:29):
i'm taking the chance that he gets. Back to that
it's a frame that you would think would get to
power six three two hundred and so maybe he does
get back to that with some batspeed train whatever. It
may be, getting over injury. We Shall see ethan conrad
is a complete. WILD card here I Went with ETHAN
conrad because i believe that if he was, healthy all
year he would be a slam dunk top. Ten draft,

(01:15:50):
Pick this year conrad Obviously transferred from Marist, to wake
forest and. He really popped like this combo Of skills
with conor is. Really REALLY good and i look at
him and It just Screams chase to louder TO me when,
I watch him like that's the kind OF prospect. That,
I see obviously deluder. Hasn't been healthy he's heard. His

(01:16:12):
prospects talk but this kind of Skill set where delauder hits,
the ball hard he, gets to power it says super
good approach where he's gonna, walk a ton he's gonna
make a.

Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Lot of, contact And Honestly like ethan conrad's a. Pretty.
Good runner two he's a big frame six.

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
THREE two twenty i think he might be bigger than
THAT to be i think he might be, like six'
four really, just good baseball frame and he checks those
boxes where early season results. Were very very good it's
like a ninety two percent. So on contact raid it was,
really low, chase rate. Great body good athleticism he was

(01:16:45):
superb on the cape, with a wood bat which. WAS
a big Reason i think that wake took him on
Because they saw the maris is. Like a nothing school
you go and. Form on the cape wake picks him
up and he was off to That Tremendous Start At.
Wake forest small sam, we got twenty games but he.
Hit seven home runs, he had eight doubles, slash three seventy,
two four ninety. FIVE seven forty four i just look

(01:17:08):
at THE track record and i think this is somebody
that people are gonna. MAYBE be sleeping on i think
he's going to go in the back end of the
first half due. To the shoulder injury we've actually seen
a lot of guys overcome shoulder. INJURIES and be fine
i think that that is definitely more of a. CONCERN
with pitchers hitters i think we've seen come. Back and
be better so. That's kind of Interesting We'll. See with
ethan conrad but it's in this Kind of draft, WHERE

(01:17:30):
i'm just, LIKE i don't know i just kind of
feel like a DART throw here where i look at the, skill,
set and say Yeah it's still louder esque with like
above average to plus, skills Across the board and i'll
kind of take my chances the air that he gets in,
the hands of it and if he goes in the
back end the first like he's going, To a good
team like this, is a Guy that like the guardians,
HAVE been in on i would love.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
THAT fit for him i think. That'd BE intremous fit,
so i, don't.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Know we'll see, Yeah and finishing out i've got, some some.
COLLEGE guys You Know I think irish joe doyle's talked.
A lot about him some crazy just like sixty percent ninety.
Five plus exit velocities, that's a huge rate one, of
the better average not over ninety, four average exit velocities,
incredibly great hit tool doesn't, strike out A bunch just

(01:18:16):
like i think the offensive. UPSIDE is really intriguing i
think the biggest wild card of All of Them Is
jace is Jace LAVALLETTE with THE Texas A and m
and i think it's interesting You bring UP the lauder
because i Think there's a similar. Deluderness Going on here
now delauder makes doesn't have like strikeout issues, and the

(01:18:36):
Contact issues but like lavallette was a guy that was
seen as like a potential top end prospect for, a
time to be he. IS a big guy i actually
think from a there's like A cheap poor man's jack
cagleone kind of living inside of there of like the
way he can release on a ball with his bat
speed AND's big. Physical frame and power he, he hurt

(01:19:01):
his rist, he BROKE his wrist which i wonder if
that really took away from him from some of. His
stuff in general low batting, average two fifty six but
had AN over four hundred ovp one thousand ops still
and incredible poll rates he, put up in college but,
really bad against sliders below average OVERALL contact percentage and

(01:19:22):
k percentage is. Really high for college so he is
a you're, Talking about dark brows it is just a college,
Dart throw to me like. IN the right org i
think he's got, tremendous fantasy power upside but he might
live in that like you could be somewhere between a
Caglion and a spencer jones. Or Something like that but i'm,
Intrigued BY those players so i think that's kind of
THE big outlier that, i put in there and it

(01:19:44):
creates a really interesting list. That we put together you
can see. Kind of different philosophy if you, got one
side outside one guy outside your top ten for this
draft that you think. Is moving up boards who's your
most intriguing outside the top ten fantasy prospect from? This Draft.

Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
For you josh owens he's A. Prep shortstop from tennessee,
it's a six three. One eighty five frame he's kind.
Of a, late riser but again the other one that
the combine kind of checked a lot of, boxes that
you know. People like to see it's really explosive through.
This all legit power he's up to one. OH eight

(01:20:19):
with wood i mean he he was one of the
few hitters of the COMBINE to post average x of
velosity at one hundred miles.

Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
An, hour or HIGHER again, we're.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Talking bep samples but when you're at the top, of
all the hitters that kind of.

Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
Speaks volume, to me you know.

Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
He's a good athlete he's shown really good run times and,
he's a, plus runner you know as things stand really.
Good arm at shortstop he pitches and it's, in the
mid nineties so talk about the. KIND of army hat
i think that the contact. Skills are The Question but
like josh owens might be the Guy this year that
i'm really into that may not go in the first

(01:20:53):
two rounds as possible he goes in.

Speaker 4 (01:20:55):
Like THE second Round But i like.

Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
Josh owens a lot is kind of like one of
those guys that could really pop off that goes.

Speaker 4 (01:21:02):
Later in the draft.

Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
Two high school guys really. JUMP out to me i kind.
Of Pseudo mentioned him, xavier NaN's huge power gonna be
a third baseman graded like you're talking like Sixty five
on the. Power Decent hit tool like i'm, really intrigued
by him and THE more and more I, Just watch
caseon cunningham like they throw this Comp Out, there OF

(01:21:27):
jet williams and i think IT'S super funny because, i
absolutely SEE it because like i Saw A bunch of
jet williams and, he's a shorter guy but like Like we,
talked to kevin mcgonagill he's. LIKE more filled out i
got to See him in the. DREAM series as well
i thought he showed out. In the draft combine he's.
Got a mature approach he barrels a bunch, insane big bat,
speed he can, run HE can hit and i look

(01:21:50):
at the frame and the WAY his approaches and i think.
THERE'S future Power projection i think caseon really has an
opportunity to, be a guy, that like you know he
flies up boards and in really, in, ALL those guys
like i think there's holes You Can pick In Daniel
pearce And Steel, Hall, AND billy carlson like i Wouldn't
be shocked if caseon ends up becoming like like two
or three in the shortstop overall ranks. When it's all

(01:22:11):
done so those are two guys that stand out for
me as, we put this together and. We'll put it
together we'll talk About it here in, prospect one next
week but also where we Will Be together with james
anderson talking FIRST Year. After The mlb Draft Dynasty. Dugout
for chris clig what do? You got going on what do?
YOU want to plug i Know you Got the. Dynasty
dug out podcast you do all the great things if

(01:22:31):
people want to check it out as, far as reports
go anything specific, You, want to hit.

Speaker 3 (01:22:35):
No just grinding on these draft REPORTS right now for
Fipd stuff and so i'll have an Initial list, out
probably saturday morning hoping to get out for the futures
game of a, top fifty with reports so have, been
working through those and yeah. It's the big thing update,
the ranks every month do daily. Write ups, and reports
so yeah it's a lot. Going on the air you

(01:22:57):
can CHECK it out and lu for you to see
all the Good stuff in support Welsh as well and
prospect one.

Speaker 2 (01:23:03):
Check Him out AT CHRIS clegg m. I lb my
friend thank you so much for taking the time and
good luck for both of Us this weekend and i'll
at least. See you, next week thanks buddy. And there
you Go Thanks again to chris cligg for taking the
time to do this fun little experiment or really just
kind of talking about our early ranks and how we are.
Positioning these guys out, there's SO much, volatility and, i

(01:23:25):
mean you know we didn't have cod what did we have?
In our top five we only had two of the.
Same players in THERE we didn't have i think a
single player. In the same rank there's just still a,
lot to be SEEN and that's why i don't think.
Any of, ITS static you know i will one hundred,
PERCENT admit You know I think i've a arquette is
super intriguing. And Interesting and hearing obviously travis talked, about

(01:23:50):
him to me and knowing like the potential five tool
college that's, There and the size i've kind of comped
it a little to like maybe A A better bat
coulson montgomery and if, like that, works out, There's That.
You know eli willitts obviously there's there's a ton. Of
room for growth there's a ton of players we didn't
talk about that could move. UP get drafted higher i

(01:24:11):
don't want. TO trash. This draft i don't i'm not
sure how beneficial. That ends up being it is clearly
not last year and that and the feel of that
is because. Of the college side but it doesn't mean
that there. ISN'T so, MUCH potential i mean i look
into the thirties and of, at LEAST my ranks and
i see guys that it's like they. Could be top
ten but that's also why this, is a weird one
because there's just SO many guys that i don't think

(01:24:33):
anything is crazy, high that you know if you had
the ability to trade out at the top to get.
MULTIPLE mid tier picks i don't think that's the worst.
Thing in, the WORLD you know if, I had NUMBER
one i Would I. Would want ethan holliday That's just
me if i'm, in a points, league like you know
getting depending on, what your, Flavor is you know doyle
For the fastball and, anderson for Everything else or seth rnandez.

(01:24:54):
For the big upside but IF it's like if i
had like FIVE or six and i could trade down
and get, Like, ten, and four like yeah there's, short
there's high school. Not even just shortstops guys are Gonna
Play third Like Xavier naan's and gavin fiends that it's
like if they, make it back there those are some
great you know draws for, you for poker terms and.

(01:25:15):
THERE'S a Million Others i like quentin young. Who's Floating Out,
There There's, steel Haul Daniel pierce who. JOE doyle, talked
about i mean there is just a bevy of high school,
guys to bank on and then some of the college
bats are all kind of being valued later and you.
Can TAKE some shots so i think having maybe more
volume in this draft is key than like, BEING like
all right i got. A fifth overall pick. I, DON'T really,

(01:25:37):
CARE yeah i mean i guess you still Get like
a solid you can get solid, players across the board
but that'll be saved for a lot. Of next week's
conversation we're going to talk about everything that, happened after.
The draft THE evaluations but remember i Will, be around
