Speaker 2 (00:15):
This is the Fantasy Baseball Prospect podcast. This is Prospect one.
Hello friends, I'm your host, Chris Welsh, who you can
find on Twitter at is it the Welsh on Instagram
as well and at in this League dot Com. In
this League dot com is poppin' right now. We are
into September. We've got rank updates coming, we got Dynasty
updates coming, and we got some p and ADPs and
(00:36):
we'll tell you about that here in just a second.
Today's episode is my annual Arizona Fall League Prediction Show.
I have been doing this for I don't know how
many years. Boy, I'll tell you, I do get hit
up about this one, maybe more than almost anything. P
one ADPs are pretty big. This is a big one
because we are in the transitional period. One month, almost
(01:00):
one month from today actually the Arizona Fall League kicks off.
And this is me doing my research and figuring out
if I can predict who we are going to see
in the Arizona Fall League. I'm going to tell you
about the Fall League. We have six teams, which are
comprised of five major league teams. There's a little bit
of info out there. There's a couple names I've heard
(01:21):
behind the scenes, and it's a lot of guessing. So
I am going to go and tell you each of
the Arizona Fall League teams who their affiliates are, and
then I'm going to go through and for the most part,
my goal was to try to have five predictions per team.
I couldn't get it for every single one. I think
the lowest I have is three, and it's actually two
(01:42):
teams on the Glendale Desert Dogs. Well no, I'm sorry,
it's only one on the Desert Dogs. But I am
going to try to get you as many as possible.
Two teams have already given us who the players are
being sent. There's a couple publicly. I'll tell you about
the ones you are allowed to know. I only know
a couple names that haven't been announced yet. But also
(02:02):
that's important because things can change. We're going to go
through all of it. Don't worry. This the official Prediction Show,
and I'll tell you what went into it for the
Arizona Fall League. Back to the ranks in this league
dot Com, I would love it if you would come
and sign up today at in This League dot com
because I will be dropping my top five hundred prospect update,
my Dynasty update, the Prospect one eighty p's. We are
(02:26):
finishing that up. The next episode I'm going to be
doing next week is dedicated to giving you some of
the info. Those are multiple drafts with prospect industry people
and then you know heavy hardcore Dynasty people that are
a part of my patreon. We drafted a bunch of
leagues and we are creating an ADYP for just prospects.
This one is you're kind of into season one. It's
(02:47):
going to have all the drafted guys. It's super relevant,
it's pretty great, and we're going to be going over
that over the next couple episodes. I'm going to go
through giving you kind of the data, you know, like
trends and stuff like that first year place, and then
I'll at least do one episode where I get one
or two guys on that drafted and we'll kind of
break down and talk about them. If you want that
Prospect ADP, you got to be a part of the
(03:09):
patreon at in This League dot com. You can also
take part in those when you're on in this league.
And then just you know a couple other little things.
This airs on a prediction sheet I'm going to put
on the Patreon so you guys can take a look
at the names and you know, whatever you want to do,
copy and you can just play around with it. And
then we also have the group me rooms where it's
kind of like a discord. It's just a community. People
(03:30):
are talking prospects, people are sharing stuff. Love to have
you Arizona follleagues around the corner. Baseball doesn't end here
in this league dot com, in this league dot com.
Thank you very much. You're supporting what I'm doing. You
being on Patreon is the reason that I can go
and do the Arizona Fall League like I do, and
I can share and continue doing prospects. So the more
(03:50):
that you guys are there, the more that I can
justify and keep doing it. So very much appreciate you
and very excited to talk about the the p and ADPs.
Like it's kind of done. There might be like one
or two more drafts that are just finishing up, but
I've got all the info and that's gonna be the
early week stuff. So just be prepared for that. All right,
THEIRS on a Fall League, we are going to break
(04:11):
down the teams the players that I think, and we're
gonna see what I get right, and I will hone
in on like when I'm gonna say a player or
two for each because these are my guesses of like,
I feel really good about this, so I will lock
one to two players that are like my locks, and
then we can kind of review that when the when
(04:31):
THEIRS on a Fall League rosters get released, assuming they
don't do the whole I think like last year they
waited like a week that that makes it a little tough.
I'll still do a preview episode. We'll kind of compare
to what my preview, what I got right, what I didn't.
But you know, one of the reasons, like I said,
why like I could hear some names now and things
can change is because they change. You know, a rumor
(04:54):
that I heard, I want to say last year, it
was I believe it was last year, could have been
the year before, but let's just call it last year.
I had heard that Spencer Jones was on the Arizona
Fawlly roster and then like three days before the release,
taken out that's also what can delay these rosters is
players being a little fringy, players bowing out, and then
(05:17):
another team needing to get a fixed you know. Like
that's the weirdness of this. So I think that's kind
of why it comes out a little bit later. Way
way back in the day, like five, six, seven years ago,
there would be rosters that were released and then just
like you know, players would bow out and it wasn't
a big deal. But for some reason, it's just like
a bigger deal nowadays. Part of it could be a
(05:40):
part of like I think players are given more of
an option than ever before. It could kind of be it.
You know, players are paid year round. This was a
league where you got paid, but now, like you know,
you could just not do this and do like a
camp or something. You know. So there's just a lot
of weirdness into it. So that could be part of
(06:00):
the secrecy. I'm not really sure why it's a big
deal to teams to release this early and then make changes,
but it just kind of is. So that's the weirdness
going on. But you know, one thing, I will say
this before we get into the logistics, It does seem
like players are finding out earlier than in the past,
So I don't you know, I don't know, like why,
(06:24):
maybe I feel like MLB is becoming a little bit
more locked into this. You know, there were the dates
escaped me, like three or four years ago. I remember
talking with one of the guys who was like directing
the Arizona fall not like the Arizona Fall League, you know, creators,
but one of the people that was in charge of personnel,
(06:44):
and like you're kind of handler, and I remember them
saying how this was right on the cusp of Darren
Sutton had been hired his company had been hired to
like film and they just started, you know, like now
you can stream the airs on a fall League more
I think maybe all the games, but before they didn't
have any of that, and it was I was told
it was a thing where like MLB was saying, this
(07:07):
is what it will cost you, Arizona FO League, so
like Arizona Fall League was like its own entity and
they're like, oh no, we don't have that type of revenue,
blah blah blah, and you know, and then they went
to this outside company. What I'm getting at is it
feels like MLB has a much stronger hand in the
Fall League, So I don't know, maybe there's you know,
(07:28):
no more of that, there's no money stuff because you know,
the credentialing process is a lot tougher, a lot stricter,
Like how the Arizona Fall leag was treating things seems
to be a lot more whether it's you want to
call it good or bad, like how they're doing stuff
seems to have a much harder structure. ARIZONAHOLAG used to
(07:48):
be like a really cool place to like have easy
access and you know, everyone was really I want to
say they're friendly, but like it was just very easy
to do stuff. Things are a lot more of a
pain in the ass now and a lot more like buttoned,
and maybe that's better for them, but it feels very
MLB ish. So the whole point of this is that
because of that, maybe you know, MLB and teams have
(08:12):
a much easier and more hardcore structure. So that's why
you're hearing players finding out or you know, being told
that the team wants them to go. You know, it's
a little ambiguous about the structure of like do players
ever go and say, hey, I want to do this.
I know teams will like approach players sometimes. You know,
Royce Lewis had told me that, they said, you know,
(08:34):
hey you can go, but you can't play shortstop, and
he's like, I want to go, you know. So like
there is that type of thing that's put out there.
I just don't know if it's like a little bit more.
Some teams might be hardcore you have to do this,
and players aren't bowing out. But there definitely has been
a process where players have been asked and they're like, nope,
I don't want to do that. They go play and
you know, to make a winter Ball. So oh, you
(08:55):
get the point here. You get it that it's like
it is a weirder process. So I get why it
takes a little bit longer. But that's why this is
also fun. We'll see what it looks like and I'll
break down like kind of the history of how I
kind of came to this, what some of the rosters
tend to look like, and I will intertwine some of
my you know, past workings with the AFL, Like there
(09:16):
are teams that I think the first team we're going
to first structured AFL team, We're going to talk about
one of the MLB teams in there. I think kind
of has a trend of things they like to do,
so I'm gonna talk about trends. I also paid attention
to roster structure. So that's the thing is I put
all my guys on and then I started to look
and I was like, does this make sense? Like I'm
(09:39):
going to be a little bit over zealous with names.
I'm going to be wrong about some big players. There
are some teams that have some like one team just
announced it's so bad what they're sending to the AFL.
So that's where I'm going to be wrong, you know,
in thinking like, oh, every team's going to bring like
a really cool prospect, They're not going to do it.
(10:00):
I've also held back and not every top prospect is
going to go or anything. But what I do is
I do pay attention to the structure of the roster
and be like, Okay, do we have too many outfielders?
Does this make sense? Infielders? Does this make sense? And
I also help that drive a little bit of how
I put these predictions together. So let's take a break.
We'll officially get into it. Arizona Fall League Prediction Show.
(10:23):
Who I think we could be seeing out there? And
who I'll be sharing some video of and we will
do it right after this. Shay, I like you. I
like you so much, I'm going to make you my partner.
All he has to do is find the gold and
I'll share it with you.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Fifty to fifty prospect.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Before we jump into the Arizona Fall League. Shout out
to Dennis Sidler and Sid's Grass, who's always been in
support of prospect one. I got to hang out with
Mike Sarota when Dennis was out here not too long ago,
which is a very cool experience. He's got some of
the game's top prospects. Maybe we'll see some of his
that are going to be in the Fall League. He's
always had a couple guys, But go and check out
all the great guys that he has at sidsgrass dot com,
(11:03):
Sidgrass on eBay and the social Some of the game's
top prospects. He's had Luis Pania, he just did a
signing with recently major leaguers. He's had Corbyn Carrol, Jackson,
Merrill over the last year. I mean tons of guys.
I'm selling it short. Michael King, who's just rehabbing back.
He's done. Go and check out the awesome stuff, the
unique things that you can get done and check it
(11:23):
out at Sidsgraf's. So the Arizona Fall League, this is
like the twenty sixth year. I think opening day is
set for October sixth. They've made a few changes this
year in structurally, like how the games are going to go.
First off, as we are told, the league is going
to be streamed, so you are going to be able
(11:46):
as far as I can tell, they're saying that you're
going to be able to like stream some of these
games online, which is pretty great. The coverage isn't always awesome,
but you know you're going to be able to stream it.
They do like some funky stuff sometime. They're doing these
triple header games on Saturdays. They're going to Tucson the
very first Saturday. Then goodyear. One of the new changes
(12:08):
this year is they're taking Mondays off. So it used
to be Sundays that is no longer the case. Mondays
are going to essentially be the off day. So that's
kind of just like the minor leagues. So that's a
new one. And then there are some you know, like
single games and stuff like that, like the like October
twenty fourth, there's like one game that's going on. Games
are roughly one thirty PM my time, so Pacific standard
(12:30):
six point thirty for the night games. And that is
how that is going to lay out for the schedule
for the teams. There are six teams that comprise areas
in a fall league. The Glendale Desert Dogs, so it's
like a coyote. That is the home of the Dodgers
in white Sox, the Mesa Solar Socks, just the big Sun.
That is the home of the Chicago Cubs, and you
can kind of call it the default Athletics. They've always
(12:51):
been a part of that team. The Peoria Havelinas, which
is a wild pig have Alina is That is the
home of the Padres and the Mariners. The Salt River Rafters,
I really sure this is water Rafter. That is the
home of the Diamondbacks and the Rockies, the Scotts Still Scorpions,
you get that one. That is the home of the
San Francisco Giants, and the Surprise Souaros a cactus home,
(13:13):
my home of the Royals, and the Texas Rangers in
four minutes from my house. So those are the six teams.
So the home teams that I told you those will
be a part of those. So the Glendale Desert Dogs
will always have the Dodgers in White Sox prospects joining them.
Because we're gonna start with the Glendale Desert Dogs are
the Toronto Blue Jays, the Atlanta Braves, and the Saint
(13:36):
Louis Cardinals. That's kind of a home team for me.
The East Side teams are the ones that are tough,
so the Scott's Still Scorpions, the Mesa Solar Socks, and
the Salt River Rafters. Those are a trek for me.
The Glendale Desert Dogs are not so Dodgers, White Sox,
Blue Jays, Braves, and the Cardinals. I'm gonna start with
(13:57):
the White Sox because the White Sox already have a
released roster, which is kind of crazy. I wondered if
at all it was a mistake because it came out
like a week ago, or I'm sorry, over a month ago.
And what stood out though is they are bringing essentially
(14:19):
their three biggest prospects, so you know, they've kind of
always been willing to do this. Luis Roberts played in
the Arizona Fall League last year. They brought out, you know,
Grant Taylor. You know, they'll bring out some dudes, and
they're bringing out dudes this year, the full roster. So
this isn't even a guess a prediction. This is confirmed.
Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, and Braden Montgomery. They're in joining
(14:44):
them are relief pitchers or you know, they might use
the misstarters. But Tyler Davis, Carson Jacobs, Connor mccola, mccolaugh infielders,
Sam Antonachi who's actually a bigger name, and Ryan Kalani. Now,
I do think there's the potential that Noah Schultz could
be off this roster because he got like hurt again
and I think some of the White Sox guys were
(15:05):
speculating at that. So just know that he could be
a player that is off this roster. But Hagen Smith
is going to be out there and Braid Montgomery. So
that's huge, that's all. We're already a phenomenal start, not
just to the Glendale team but for the Desert Dogs.
So Braid Montgomery, you know, top thirty fantasy prospect, He's
(15:26):
going to shine here. He's going to do really great.
Hagen Smith this typically so this is an important thing.
I should backtrack The Arizona Fall League is typically not
a pitching environment. Last year there were great pitchers only
on the Glendale Desert Dogs, Like that was it. They
(15:47):
had Andrew Painter, they had Connor Phillips if I'm yeah,
Connor Phillips. They had Grant Grant Taylor. Sorry there's someone
else I'm forgetting, Like they had all the dudes that
were on their team. The Arizona Fall League does not
typically have super great pitching, so it's probably like we're
(16:09):
always going to overinflate the pitchers that we think are
going to be here. That's a pretty common thing. We're
going to over guess, and then they're not going to
send out guys. You know, there's been some great pitchers
that have come here, like you know, no doubt, like
Mackenzi Gore has been here. I remember Spencer Howard was
a top prospect. Sometimes I'll leave early. Two years ago,
Ricky Tiedeman and Jackson job were out here and they
(16:29):
got sent halfway through. And that's kind of a new thing.
And an important thing is teams are much more willing
to have a guy spend half of a time in
the Arizona Fall League and then just replace them. The
A's made it a strategy. It was common knowledge before
the areson a Fall League that Henry Bolt was coming
the first three weeks and Nick Kurtz was coming the
last and that's exactly what they did, and they might
(16:52):
do something similar again. So a Noah Schultz could come
for a short period of time or the second half
or or be. They can add any players, but you
don't typically see great pitching here. I think there's a
chance this year you could super you know, stupid optimistic, like, well,
(17:14):
what's the it's the it's that one I'm forgetting everybody.
Uh Nick Cross, you know where he's like it doesn't
ever work, but it could work for us. Like that's
kind of the thing that this is like that I'm like,
it could happen this year. But I'll kind of tell
you why, because I think I think I have I
might have some confirm the one that's semi confirmed, so
this will make it all right. So right now we
(17:34):
have Noah Schultzegan Smith, Brad Montgomery, those are the big guy,
Sam Antonucci, those are all the confirmed, so we don't
even have to guess. Let's go to the Dodgers. Here
are some guesses on the Dodgers Kellen Lindsay. Now, the
reason Kellen Lindsey could not go is if he's like
re re hurt. But Kellen has Kellen Lindsay has missed
significant time this year multiple injuries, like re hurt his hand.
(17:56):
I was told that he was coming back to camp
like right around now, and if the Dodgers are running instructs,
I think it just makes all the sense in the
world for him to go. Also, I would say, based
on my projection, I don't really have a lot of infielders.
You can have three to four infielders, even guys that
if they can place third, they can move them over there.
So like you don't have to get nuts about it.
(18:17):
It's just like if you have like three star shortstops. Okay,
that might be tough. But I think there's a legitimate
shot that he could play there. Now, I'm gonna throw
this out. I do think it's one of Kellen Lindsay
or Yohandry Vargas. So I do have Vargas on this list.
I don't think they send them both out. Vargas has
just been hurt beyond belief. The aarson A Fall League
(18:39):
tinkers between it used to be predictable in the type
of player that you would get. It's not. It could
be low way, it could be an eighteen year old,
it could be a twenty six year old. Like it,
it's whatever teams want. You typically think it's gonna be
a little bit more. Rule five here's the leader of
the pack. If a guy's Rule five eligible or miss
(19:00):
magnificant time in the year, I think that is the
ruler here. Then there's some other secondary stuff, you know,
that reasoning that teams can bring out players you know
you want. You want to have more of a full
season long thing. But I think those things kind of
rule it. And Vargas and Lindsay both qualify in missing
super significant time. Number three Kendall George kenl George just
(19:25):
stole his one hundredth base. It feels very much like
Victor Scott. There's a possibility it could have just been
a long season and you move off of it. But
I feel like he's in that kind of trajectory. I'd
also say the same thing in that I don't know
if I've got a world of a lot of outfielders,
so I think there's room for him to relatively play
every day and also like those home team guys, if
(19:46):
George is going to be out here for instructs just
to have them play, you know, and you can leave
a little bit early. Dodgers have also typically played some
significant prospects. You know, Andy Pajas has played in the outfield.
Last year, they had oh Man, they had McClane, And
I'm forgetting the other infielder like those middle prospects in
(20:09):
their system they're not afraid to bring out. So I've
got him, Wyatt Crowell, Kroll. Kroll has missed some significant time.
And here's a surprising one, River Ryan. I think River
Ryan he's I saw him throw a bullpen session about
three weeks ago, two weeks ago in the Bridge League.
Looks like he's kind of ramping back. Prime person you
(20:31):
would send to the Fall League. Still has prospect eligibility,
He's missed the entire season. He's a guy that you
might want to be competitive for a spot next year.
I don't think. I can't imagine they're going to use
him for any capacity to play in in I don't
think he's playoff eligible now. So River Ryan makes all
the sense in the world. I'm gonna throw a couple
(20:53):
other names out to you. James Tibbs is a possibility.
He got retraded back. Maybe they want to see him.
I don't have crazy significant outfielders here. I mean you
could have an outfield of like George Tibbs of Montgomery,
and then maybe the other teams don't send a bunch
of outfielders. That's possibility. Uh, Peter Huback. And I'm gonna
throw this out that somebody said to me Roki Sazaki
(21:14):
that I don't think that's outlandish. I don't think Roki
Sazaki is crazy outlandish. I'm not gonna put it as
an official prediction, but I'm gonna just throw it out there.
Because he's been rehabbing. I don't know if they are
gonna trust him in his access of playoff eligibility. I
think he's fine because he was on the roster before.
If they use him in the playoffs, he's not going
(21:35):
to be But that's an outside possibility. So here are
the guys I'm gonna give you that I think are like,
these are my locks, you know, quote unquote locks River,
Ryan Crowell and and let's go George. Those are gonna
be my three. How I'm gonna do a little talasizing them.
(21:55):
So those are because we don't need to do it
with the White Sox. Those are the three I'm gonna
lock on a Blue Jays. I've got four players here.
This was tough. This Glendale team is pretty tough. Ricky Tieteman.
I have heard through the grape vine for quite a
while that Ricky Tiedeman is going to pitch in the
Arizona Fall League. He had already pitched here before, but
(22:17):
he essentially missed, or not even essentially he missed the
entire season. Now, I think it's always based on the
status of you know. The one thing I haven't looked
is like, is there any updates on him throwing or
anything like that. I don't know where the injury currently lays.
I'm just taking a look here. I hadn't this time
(22:38):
last year. Y Teineman. He's throwing both out. Yeah, and
here's a note right here and an outside shot. He
pitches in a non oh in a non AFL game
this year, so yeah, so this is even eluding like
he might be a lock. So now you got Haggen
Smith Schultz and Ricky Tiedeman and River Ryan I'm putting
(22:58):
out there, We're putting out another sick rotation. Ricky Tim
I'm already gonna tell you is gonna be one of
my locks. ROVs Martinez is one that I'm gonna throw
out to you. I think we're so far beyond what
they think they I think they got to figure out
what they have in him. He's been in the system
for so long, Majors. The issue, you know, like there's
(23:19):
there's just I think there's so many question marks. This
is something you put him out here by the way,
away from the best pitching team, in a hitter friendly environment.
Let him shine. Maybe he generates some trade value. Go
look at what happened with Jacob Marcy and Graham Paully.
You know, they had these great AFLs and people got
eyes on them and then they ended up being part
of a big trade. I think the Blue Jays it
(23:40):
would make a lot of sense for them to send
a Rovis out here and just kind of shine in
this environment and its hitter friendly environment. And he's not
going up against Tiedeman and schultzon Smith. So we're gonna
put him Landon Martlet say his name, Mardauz. Martus has
missed some time engage Stana for I'm gonna go land
in Rolvis and tied him in as my locks for
(24:02):
the Toronto Blue Jays. Charles McAdoo is another I'm gonna
throw out there. I should put him as a macculdoo,
as a what do you want to call it? Like
a fifth option here, but really struggled with that team,
the Atlanta Braves. Owen Murphy. I know I'm doing way
too much pitching, Well stop it, but Owen Murphy is
(24:25):
literally what this is built around. I'm gonna be honest
with you. I had Cam Kammaneddy on this list. I
took him off, and I took him off kind of
because of paying attention to what the rotations would look like.
I think Cam makes sense. He only had seventy innings
this year, he just had his final one. He lives
here in Arizona. He went to high school here. Makes sense.
But you know what, if you had to pick between
(24:46):
the two, Owen Murphy is way more important. Owen Murphy
just came back. He's gonna maybe top at thirty innings pitch.
He has twenty four right now and maybe there's one
more start thirty innings. He hasn't ever had ninety innings.
He has pitched what is this, one hundred and sixty
seven total minor league innings over four years. He is
(25:07):
the epitome of the player that you send out here.
So I'm going to lock him. How about this is
a tricky one. Not cho Alvarez, Not Choe Alvaz is
still prospect eligible. Haven't quite found a spot. Let's play
the same game we played with the role of Martinez
and that he can build up either trying out some
other positional things. I think maybe under this scenario he's
(25:31):
like he plays third base for the team.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Maybe it's because I think if I have like one
of Lindsay and a role of this, that's kind of
your infield Pending what we do with the Cardinals, Nacho
could maybe play some util and maybe build up his
trade value. Another guy who we actually saw in the majors,
did he or fwintests did? If Wentest just didn't build
up enough innings this year, I think that's kind of
the big thing. He ended up having thirteen innings in
(25:55):
the majors. He had fifty seven innings in the minors.
If he's still a starting pitcher, sure send him out here.
The problem is is we now have Schultz, Smith, Tiedeman, Owen, Murphy,
and Diddier. That's essentially your five. But I think Schultz
could maybe get the boot in River Ryan. So maybe
one of these guys comes in pitches in relief. I'm
(26:16):
trying to think, like, who would be a good if
Wintest could maybe pitch in relief here. That's not an
uncommon thing. Lots of starters will come in and pitch relief,
So I don't think it's not doable. But I'm gonna
say Wintest, and then I'm gonna say, uh, Luis Guanipa,
who I think he has just been kind of behind
for this team. One's kind of like an international top prospect.
It's just really kind of fading in a lot of minds.
(26:39):
He's played thirty five games this year, two sixty two.
I think he might want to see a little bit
more out of him. The Braves have also sent lower
level outfielders a lot over the years, so that's kind
of like a tradition of what they've done. So you know,
if you're looking at like what have teams done? But
being honest, like I might be overplaying, I think the
(27:00):
Dodgers are gonna send out more pitchers. I kind of
think I have the Blue Jays. Well, braids are a
little bit of a question, but they always send out
some significant position player, but it's always younger outfit. It's
actually like super old outfielders or the young guys. And
I think Guinepa fits that. So I'm gonna put Guinipa,
but I'm gonna put Murphy, Fuintes and Nacho as my
(27:21):
locks for this. And then finally the Saint Louis Cardinals
I struggled with. This was probably my biggest struggle. I've
only got three. I'm gonna pull up their team and
see if I can figure out another. But remember when
I mentioned that there are teams that have these trends.
They have a trend they always send out catchers. They
have sent out all of their top catching prospects from
(27:42):
Jimmy Crooks was out here, Bernal was out here. It's
a pretty common trend with them that they're gonna send
out some pedro pajas. They sent out here, Rhino Rodriguez
screaming at us. He is only eighteen. But we had
Ethan Salas and Leo Devrees out here last year and
(28:05):
Rodriguez has already gotten up to high A. I think
Ronniell's coming out here. I think I do think the
White Sox, you know now that i'm thinking about it,
did the Whitesize. Usually those teams with high pitchers want
to bring out one of their catchers. I thought they
might have somebody, but I think this makes a lot
of sense. They always send out their catchers. He is young,
he'll be on one of the younger side. Maybe he
(28:27):
could move around a little bit. You know, if I'm
staring at this roster, what I don't really have as
a first baseman. So maybe there's a couple more vetty
type of guys, and maybe he plays a little bit
of first base as well. But they just send out
these guys, so I'm going to do that. Joshua Bias
has had a really good year. I think you're kind
of in a stage. I think he actually might be
(28:47):
Rule five. Yeah, he's Rule five eligible, so I mean
I'm gonna lock the crap out of him coming. And
then Chin Wheelan is I think one that Tim Kinnek
talks about. He just has not had significant innings this year,
so I'm gonna send him. Those are the only three
that I have. I think Chase Davis is a possibility.
(29:07):
He lived, you know, he went to U of a
Arizona guy. Not a really great season. I guess if
I look back at this roster, don't have predominant I mean,
I have Kendall George Montgomery in the outfield bias. Maybe
Davis is five. Maybe in Guinepa. That would be so
then Tibbs wouldn't make sense. So we'll just put Chase
(29:28):
Davis on the list. But I think they're gonna send
out some relief pictures as well. It's a pretty common thing.
I just couldn't figure out who. So I'm gonna I'm
only gonna lock two on this, Ronie and Joshua Bias.
So that is my roster for the Glendale Desert Dogs.
It's got a rotation of Schultz, Smith, Tiedaman, River, Ryan Owen, Murphy.
(29:50):
I'm being pretty over dramatic here. If we get that,
holy crap. But maybe Schultz gets knocked and it's Hagen, River, Tiedaman, Murphy,
that would be pretty sick. I just I can't get
off of it. I tried to talk myself off of it.
I can't get off of it because Tietaman Murphy make
(30:10):
too much in river, right, they make too much sense.
And we've already got confirmed Higginsmith and no Schulz. Blandel
Desert Dogs are gonna have a really really good, really
good rotation and a pretty good, you know, lineup that
would be led by Braden Montgomery, Kendall, George Roneo Rodriguez.
I mean, that's that's pretty strong, So we'll see what
I get right there. Let's move over to the Masa
(30:34):
Solar Socks. Masa Solar Socks, as I mentioned, the home
of the Cubs. They are gonna have the Chicago Cubs,
the Athletics, the Miami Marlins, New York Yankees, and Tampa
Bay Rays. Those are gonna be the five teams. The
Yankees are usually part of the Solar Socks, and I
want to say the Rays kind of are too. So
(30:55):
this is last year both of those teams were so
kind of calmon. I don't know why, but there's just
a connection there. I was going to beat around the
bush and tell you who I think the Chicago Cubs
would have. I already had the list and then it
got released today some Cubs blogger got it and did
(31:15):
a whole post about it, so I don't have to
beat around the bush. I get to just tell you
it stinks. It stuck incs and you know what, the
Cubs have kind of been doing this, I want to say.
I mean, I guess they've brought out Alcontra in Balastero's
but they've also put out some stinkers. This is it's
a really bad setup. And also to be fair, it's
(31:39):
something that should probably humble me a little bit in that, like,
don't think all these teams are going to set out
these send these bangers of prospects, because the Cubs are not.
They're not sending They're sending out Ed Howard is the
biggest name that you know, Cole Mathis, Owen Ayers, Christian Gordon,
JP Weed, Cohen Moreno, and Matthew Peters. That is who
the Cubs are sending out. Yuck. That's not a great
(32:02):
list if you if you're like a prospected guy at
Howard shortstop, probably second base, could probably play third here.
We're gonna have to see because I'm sending on a
couple of big names here. So clubs are done, so
we don't have to lock anything. The athletics we have
one official name so I get to just put that down.
Blaze pontis yep. I think Jessica Kleinschmidt was the one
(32:27):
who said Blaze confirmed he's going out there. So Oki
dokie Blaze pontis like are ponts maybe because it's like
spelled like Jeff Ponce. I think this is all but confirmed.
And I've mentioned this before. Jamie Arnold during the broadcast
after he got drafted with the A's he said he
is staying in Mesa for September training to pitch in
(32:53):
the Fall Oki dok. We know what that is, Arizona
Fall League, and the a last year started to set
a precedent by sending their drafted prospect to the Arizona
Fall League with great success. I think this is what
this is. I think Arnold he could only pitch some innings,
or he could just stay here the whole time and
(33:14):
build up, and then he could be a rotation piece
potentially next year. I feel very good that Jamie Arnold
is gonna pitch in the Fall League. So no matter what,
by basic confirmations, you got Jamie Arnold, Tiedeman Hagen Smith like,
we're rocking here so far for pitchers that are out here.
My other guess is, so we've got punts, We've got
Jamie Arnold, I'm gonna throw out Tommy White. Tommy White's
(33:36):
kind of I think in that place, that general vicinity
of a player. You know, they've sent out like Hogan
Harris was a guy that they sent out before. I'm
trying to think if they sent out any other Max Munsey, like,
they're not afraid to send out some of those dudes.
They sent out Kurtz last year, Bolty, So you're not
gonna get You're not gonna get Colby Thomas because he
(33:59):
was up in the Major completely shut down. You know,
there's some pitchers that have like so it's really tough.
I think the biggest ask is do you think that
Leo Devrez comes back out? He was here last year.
Maybe I'm gonna say no, though, because I've got some
other big shortstops that are coming out, and I'm gonna
just say that the A's are not going to try
to send him two straight years. Maybe he does instructs,
(34:20):
Maybe he goes plays in Dominican Winter League, so I
don't have him going Gage jump is pitchway too many innings.
Luise Morale so you get what I'm saying, Like there's
too many guys that have already come out that don't
make sense. So Tommy White is one of those that
you know, I think he's like kind of on the precipice.
If I'm staring at the roster and like how I'm
(34:40):
looking at the construction, I don't really have like first
and third outside of players maybe playing out of position.
So I think like he's locked in. I think he's
gonna get the games two seventy one. He can kind
of thrive out here. The other guys who did I
put Ryan Lasco? Ryan Lasco missed some time, but I
(35:00):
just had a revelation as I was doing this though,
So Lasco is actually listed. Did I miss this? He's
listed on Triple A because maybe they just wanted more
at bats. He only played rookie ball in Hi A
all season. I think that's like telling that they want
him to get more at bats. But the side note
is maybe Devin Taylor, he's a drafted prospect college guy.
Now that I'm thinking about it, like he fits that
(35:22):
kurtz Mold they could send him out here. So now
I think it's one of Alasco or Taylor, and then
I also put Arubio Angeles, who I think I put
on this last year, just still sitting in the system.
You know, I don't know how much longer they're going
to just keep doing anything with him, so maybe they
want to just see a little bit more, so I
put him on the list. For my locks, I'm going
(35:43):
to say Tommy White, Jamie Arnold, and then we have
Ponts but little side note of Devin Taylor. All Right,
the Miami Marlins team number two. This is where we're
I'm sending out some a few bigger names. We do
have a confirmation Carson mill Brandt confirm that he is
going to the Fall League. So pitcher Carson mill grant
(36:03):
that one is confirmed. I have a arquette. I'm gonna say,
this might be the team that's not afraid to send
out some of these drafted prospects. I think Pipeline had
also put this as a guess. I think this makes
a lot of sense for the Marlins. I think Marlin's
have been relatively aggressive sending out the maces. They've sent
out Joe Mack before. I mean, going down you know
(36:25):
their list. If you're also trying to pick out there's
a possibility. They don't send out like anybody fun. But
a lot of the guys have already been here, you know,
or you have super young guys. I don't think you
send Andrew Solace out here, you know. Robbie Snelling is
not an option. Joe Mack has been out here, like
I just don't think that one hundred percent makes sense.
They do have some drafted guys though. Brandon Compton is
(36:45):
an option, but I'm gonna go with Iva Arquette because
I think he can lock down and maybe they have
him played third here based on what I'm going to
tell you the next team, but I'm gonna go with
iv A Arquette. Noble Meyer is one I'm going to
throw it. I feel like Noble has had kind of
just a bad run of it. He obviously also only
has sixty five innings pitched this year, so what is
(37:08):
his last ten? Yeah, and he just pitched the other day.
I think you want to build him up. I think
he's just a prime dude to come out here, and
I think you could usually throw him into the rotation.
Dylan Head, who used to play for the Padres and
was traded out here, I think he is a definite possibility,
and I'll give you a little connection here on why.
But he struggled in this year Loway. I think there's
(37:31):
outfield position for him to play a Catri Vargas that's
probably a reach. And John Eknes, a starting pitcher, is
another guest that I put out there. I'm gonna say
my locks are going to be I guess I only
have to give you two. I'm gonna not lock Arquette.
I'm gonna lock Dylan Head nobel Meyer and Carson Milbrant
(37:51):
because he's confirmed team number four for the Solar Socks.
The New York Yankees, George Lombard, come on down. I
am gonna send George Lombard, a big time prospect. The
Yankees are always toying around. They almost sent Spencer Jones,
but they did send Jason Dimingoz out like they've I
guess they haven't sent out a bunch of like big
time infielders, but they'll send out some of their big prospects.
(38:12):
And I think if you give the opportunity where like
you can have an infield that he gets to lock
shortstop pretty much the whole time. Does a little bit
of sharing with Ed Howard. I've Arquette, maybe Arquette and
Lombard played the infield. Ed Howard's the third guy. I
just think this makes sense. I think the Yankees would
want to bring out a big guy. I also have
(38:33):
some pitchers brock Selvage, Henry Lalani and Ben Hess. Ben
Hess and Lalani specifically have missed some pretty significant time.
Lonnie big time. They brought out Lagrange last year, like
like lock those two in and then I put Roderck
Ariius just because he's been in the system for a
little bit struggled. Might want to see what you're getting
out of him. Maybe there isn't enough playable spots because
(38:57):
I've got you know, we got ed Howard, and we've
got our Quette, and we've got Lombard. But still he
could be a second. And now if Ourqett agreed to
be third, you could look at this and say, like
Lombard is short, Arquette is third, Howard could play second,
and then you've got a guy like Arius who could
be your back, your second, second basement. This is where
that makes sense, and that or you know, if a
catcher's here, then Arius doesn't make sense. But I'm gonna
(39:20):
lock in Lombard, Lalani and hesse As my guys, and
then finally the Tampa Bay Rays. This is where I'm
gonna send a couple outfielders out here. I'm gonna send
Aidan Smith, who got only to a ball this year
batting average, struggled, used to play with the Mariners out
here some comfort level being in Arizona. I think they
would want to send him out. I don't have big
(39:42):
structured outfielders if you remember this construction. And one of
the reasons why I think Dylan Head comes out because
he's like best friends with Homer Bush, and I think
homer Bush comes back out. They were both teammates with
the San Diego Padres. Homer Bush makes a ton of sense.
All the stolen bases in the world, hit three this year,
got up to double A. I think he's the type
(40:03):
of guy they would want to see a little bit
more out of. And I think he would like really
welcome getting to replay again with Dylan Head. So the
outfield would be Aiden Smith, Homer Bush, Dylan Head, Ryan Lasco.
You know, I think that's essentially what it looks like,
and I think that's like that makes a lot of sense.
I think that setup I put together makes a lot
of sense for that outfield. So Dylan Head, Homer Bush,
(40:24):
Aiden Smith. I'm also going to send out Santiago Suarez
and Joniel Corrett with the rays because they both just
missed significant time. They need to build up their innings.
This is why you would want to send him out.
Send those guys out, and you would have like Arnold
mayor Lannie probably Rely as a reliever, Hesse Suarez, Corrett,
(40:45):
and then let's just throw the Litlanie like though you
could just split between who's starting. Maybe one or two
of those guys goes in relief.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Also, Jack Boumeister was a ray that I'm putting out there.
So I have the rays putting out some significant pitchers.
Think I'm gonna nail one of those. So I'm gonna
go Smith, Bush and Swarez as my locks. Baumeister is
a little bit of a question. Corret's a little bit
of a question. That's a solar sox. As I just
told you their rotation, Noble Meyer, Jamie, Arnold Hess that's
(41:16):
a pretty strong rotation. That's probably a little too optimistic,
but they would be led by George Lombard Iva Arquette,
and those are kind of the big studs that are
on that team. I think that sounds kind of realistic
for the Mesa Solar Socks. Third up here, the Peoria Havevelinas,
San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners are the home teams,
joined by the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, and Minnesota Twins.
(41:40):
For the Padres, we've almost got confirmations. Braden Carpathios has
been confirmed and Carson Montgomery have been confirmed. All but
confirmed is Ethan Sollas. That one has been floating out there.
Multiple people have talked about it. I think it's just
as long as he can swing, he's going to play
(42:02):
in it, and he will return for a second time.
Makes a ton of sense. I'm also gonna throw Cannon
Kemp and Clark Candiotti. Candyatti is a local guy out here.
I think if I remember correctly, I think he's been
low on innings. Let's see if I'm correct about that.
They're a really tough team to try to gauge because
there's also a little bit of a you could argue
(42:23):
there's like a little bit of a talent issue that's
going on. Here, but I'm gonna go with Candiotti. Carpathios
is going to be an outfielder, you know, just not
it's not sexy. It's not sexy for this team. My locks.
We're gonna just go Solas, Montgomery and Carpathios because those
are confirmed. The others are just kind of Kim did
not get enough innings. I didn't pull up Candyatties. Positionally.
(42:47):
I think maybe Lamar King is someone you can see,
maybe Cavarious Tiers. Those are some possibilities. But they've sent
out a lot of the guy like a lot of
the other dudes. You either have these like low high
school guys they traded them, or you know they've already
sent out someone like Romeo Scenabria. So not super exciting
for them. The Seattle Mariners, though, here are my five.
(43:10):
Johnny Farmelo. Johnny Farmelo has not played enough over the
last couple of years. He's got a play dude. Farmelo
came out to the Fall League a bunch. I don't
know if you guys remember me talking about this. I'd
be sitting at the Fall League and Farmelo, who's coming
back from surgery, he would just come out every day
after workouts and he would watch the Fall League. I
think he's a luck I cannot imagine he doesn't come
(43:31):
out now. I also think Type Pete is someone that
they need to take a little bit of a stronger
look at. Type just did not take the decks big steps.
This past year they've been transitioning to outfield. He struggled
with batting average. He had some loud counting stats. What
does make this interesting? I did struggle with Yeah, now
(43:53):
that I'm looking at this more and I'm realizing this,
I don't really have strong shortstops for this team or
any that. Maybe they allow Typete to play on the
infield some and kind of work that through because I
got a lot of outfielders. So maybe that's why it
makes more sense that he comes in here, because it's
not a strong infield. I really don't have a bunch.
Teddy McGraw time missed makes sense, suisspol. I think he's
(44:18):
a guy that is moving up the system they need
to see and I think he might be close to
five Roll five eligible and Josh Karen the catcher second
or third year. They've sent out catchers a decent amount.
Obviously last year, the year before we saw Harry Ford.
So those teams that have the local like that's their stadium,
(44:40):
it's not uncommon to see them throughout catchers a little
bit more so then this would be Karen and Solis
just going back and forth, and I'm like, yep, that
just screams that it makes sense. So we're gonna say
Farmelo's a lock. We're gonna say McGraw, and then we're
gonna say Karen. Pete's just me wildly guessing out there.
(45:00):
The Baltimore Orioles, Enrique Bradford, that's gonna be one of
those outfielders that we're gonna send Bradford. The reason Bradford
might be a little bit tougher is it's not it's
not like the most common thing in the world that
like triple A guys are coming out here. But you know,
he really kind of regressed from a batting average standpoint.
(45:21):
There's no big power. Orioles have definitely sent out outfielders
in the past. Heston Kerstad read Tremble like it's a
they'll send out their dudes. There's a couple options. If
I'm wrong about him, then maybe it's going to be
Vance Honeycutt that's someone I took off of that who's
a little bit older at a lower level. Maybe this's
in both to be honest, but I'm gonna go with
(45:43):
Enrique Bradfield as my top option for this team. We
are then going to move We're then moving to a
shortstop that the Oriols could send out. Griff O'Farrell who's
gotten up to double A only to twenty eighth this year,
stole a ridiculous amount of bay two years through their system.
Not a ton, but you know, up to double A.
(46:05):
I think double A high A is like the prime territory.
We don't have a lot of shortstops, remember, so that's
a reason I think he could be out here. Luis
da Leone, Braxton, Bragg, a couple of pitchers, and then
Cobb high Tower, who actually was just traded this year, drafted,
really really struggled. This ironically would be an opportunity for
him to come back to the same facility he was
(46:27):
at before, and I think that could maybe you know,
the little comfort level, a little enticing, see friends, I
think he might even potentially request it, and we don't
have a lot of shortstops or infielder's Cobb can play
second or short. Gryffil Ferrell can kind of do the
same thing. So maybe they're manning kind of an infield
that I haven't you know, maybe it's type heat as well.
But I'm gonna throw Cob high Tower as a young
guy that comes back to play for this team. We
(46:49):
are gonna say Bradfield O'Farrell and I had I had
doing my research. Braxton Bragg seems like a pretty locked person.
So Luis de Leon Kaphitar a little bit deeper guesses
here the Cincinnati reds now one of these I realized
I need to go take a look at because those
(47:11):
like weird injury things are floating out there. And I'll
just tell you who it is. It's Tye Floyd. I
don't know where ty Floyd is at, and maybe I
screwed that up in he let's see, last ten was
the last time he hasn't pitched since May, so I
don't one hundred percent know where he's at. I think
he's a prime candidate because a miss time is a
college pitcher, but I could be someone could be like, hey,
(47:32):
don't mean he's dodo doo dooda injured. Okay, my bad,
you know there's a possibility I had him. Cam Collier
is somebody that I mean, he's been floating around. He
trains out here, He's he missed some time earlier in
the year, he was working through camps. He's up at
double A, Like, yeah, we got to get him as
(47:53):
many at bats eighty seven games. He had one hundred
and nineteen last year. I think you're close. Maybe they
want some positional stuff too, because like Stuart, they got
so many guys they brought up in sal Stewart that
maybe they need him to focus in one other specific area.
So I think he would make a ton of sense
to be out here, and he would be kind of
(48:14):
one of the studs that would be on that team.
So I feel pretty decent about that one. Leo Balzacar,
who was kind of a name a little while back.
He's had some injury issues and then this one has
all but been confirmed. Rehet Louder. Rehet Louder is like
like he's gone a pitch here, you know what I'm saying.
So we're gonna go with Collier, Balzacar and Rehet Louder
(48:40):
is our locks here. That doesn't give them a great rotation,
but I think it gives them like what Carson Montgomery,
Rhet Louder. You know, maybe Teddy mcgrawk can go out there,
but that takes us to the final team, and that
is the Minnesota Twins. The Minnesota Twins are a tricky one,
and I feel like I need to go back and
look because I think I had put some name and
I'm not sure if I did a big update. I'll
(49:03):
tell you at the tippy top. You know who makes
all the sense in the world, And I just want
to look here Manuel Rodriguez. The more that I'm looking
at this, I think he had a chance to go
last year's Rule five. I think this year he's missed time.
He's back into games, but he only played fifty five games.
You know, I didn't have him on this initial list.
(49:24):
We're gonna put him, We're gonna we're gonna put him
on here. Let me make a cut here. I think
it's an outside risk, but it just makes a lot
of sense. He could also go play in like the
Dominican Winner League. I had put some pitchers Connor pre Lip,
Dason Hill, and Charlie Soto. Hill is pretty young, but
(49:45):
he only had sixty two innings this year, Connor pre
Lip older only sixty seven innings, so those guys kind
of jump out. Charlie Soto thirteen innings and he hasn't.
I think the injury might be more serious because he
don't pitched since April. So Soto off. We're gonna say
pre Lip. We feel better about two others. Brandon Winnaker,
(50:07):
I think is a very very good option to come
out here, and that would make our outfield currently, by
the way, Winnaker, Rodriguez, Bradfield Farmelo. See that's where I
might be getting ahead of myself a little bit. My
locks for this team. We are gonna go pre Lip,
we are gonna go Winnaker. Man, I don't want to
lock Emmanuel Rodriguez. I'm gonna say Andrew Morris, I'm not
(50:29):
gonna lock Emmanuel Rodriguez. I just think it. I'm sorry. Yeah, Winnaker,
pre Lip, Morris, Dason Hill, I don't know, he's young,
but I think it makes sense. Emanual Rodriguez just makes
all the sense in the world. So this team would
be led by a rotation of Ret Louder, Connor pre Lip,
(50:49):
It's kind of it. Hitting wise, you'd have Solas Farmelo, Collier,
Emmanuel Rodriguez. That's kind of that's a bigger team that
I'm putting out there for. The Puria havevelinas, but they
have also put out they had what was it, they
had the laughter, Carson Williams, Colman Zarto, like all playing
together like this Puuriya team puts out some big dudes.
(51:11):
Seattle and San Diego are not afraid to put out
the big guys. But the Twins, the Twins really are
kind of a weird denominator here. But you know, Collier
has got space to play in the infield. Based on
what I put together, you probably would not see Typete
playing on the outfield. He'd have to play on the infield.
But this will have ret loud. There's some studs. There's
(51:32):
some studs on this team. All right, let's move to
the Salt River Rafters. We're halfway there. Salt River Rafters
have the Diamondbacks, the Rockies, joined by the Boston Red Sox,
the Angels, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. This has the potential
to be explosive. The Arizona Diamondbacks one name has been confirmed,
and I had this on my list before it was confirmed,
(51:53):
so I just didn't get to look as smart David Hageman,
who was traded from the Texas Rangers to the Diamondbacks,
who I said in a tweet the day that trade happened,
don't be surprised when Hegeman is the best piece of
that trade, with Mitch Bratt and Cold Drake. He was
coming off of injury. I saw him pitch with the
Rangers during rookie ball just time, just got miss time.
(52:16):
So I think this is like Dull Clear, He's gonna
be pitching in the Arizona Fall League. I am gonna
put Drew Jones. I struggled between Drew Jones and Ryan Waldschmidt.
Drew Jones has had a really nice kind of like
ending to the year. He's you know, gotten his average backup.
I think he let me pull it up here. I
(52:36):
think he's hitting over three hundred. No, no, that's of
this month. He's hitting fifty nine. Homers have been as
stolen bases have been way up three years in the organization.
High a yep. Send him out now, I don't know.
They typically do send out a bunch of outfielders. They've
sent out Vukevich and stuff. But this is like the
range where they would send a guy like this out,
(52:58):
so I picked him over Waldschmidt. Waldschmith's already up at
double A. I think he makes sense too. I just
didn't want to push both of them, so I just
decided on Drew Jones. Gavin Conticello, who's up at double
A outfielder, maybe could play like first two. I think
that's an option. Ashton Izzy, who was traded from the Mariners,
just needs more innings, and jan so Luis they have
(53:21):
they just send up Prodomo before infielders. I think they
can be a little bit more aggressive about He's right
on that Cusp. I also think Christopher Torre is like
one of Torin or Luis, one of Drew Jones or Waldschmidt.
That's kind of my guess. I'm gonna lock in Drew Jones. Obviously,
Hegeman and Izzy traded for so those are the guys.
(53:43):
I think Cole Drake is also a possibility as well.
Colorado Rockies, who I am sending Charlie Condon. Charlie Condon
has to come play for this team. They have definitely
also been aggressive in what they've done. Condon missed time
early on in year. You know he's definitely gotten up
his games up to ninety one games, but only around
three hundred at bats. He's been working on his plate discipline.
(54:07):
Charlie Condon's got to be here, you know, like unless
he refuses, I cannot imagine he's not. So he's definitely
a lock. Cole carrig I was told that Cole Krik
had another incident the other day. Dude is an absolute
hothead that he got kicked out. He was chasing an
ump all this stuff, like he had an issue a
(54:29):
year or two ago where he got sent down for
disciplinary issues. You got to send him out here to
get his head right, Like, I don't think you give
him a break. Maybe it's a punishment. He can play
multiple spots. I think that kind of works well. But
I think the I think the Rockies have to give
a long, hard stare and figure out how to fix
(54:49):
these problems, and maybe it would be viewed as a punishment.
So I'm gonna put Carag out here. Brody Brektist missed
some times, Sean Sullivan missed some time. They also traded
for rock Reggio and then Wellington Herrera. Those are all
my options for the Rockies. I think we're gonna get
one of those pitchers. Let me look at innings pitched
on those guys. Brect is only sixty one innings so
(55:12):
far this year. Where does Sean Sullivan go? Maybe they
both come. Sullivan's up to one hundred. So we're gonna
go with Bret. We're gonna say Charlie Condon, Breckt, and
we're gonna go Cole carrog Those are my locks for
that team. The Boston Red Sox. Brandon Clark has not
pitched the innings he needs to pitch this year. I know.
I think he just got put like maybe back on
(55:33):
the il, but thirty eight innings this year. If he
is able, they gotta send him out like you gotta
build up those innings compared to where the rest of
those pitchers are going. Uh your Donni Manegro, Nazon Zonatello,
and Jofi Rodriguez. Those are my guesses with the Red Sox.
Very tempted for Franklinarius and Frankly the more I look
(55:59):
at it, he definitely definitely could. I had another short
stop that I took off this list from a team.
I think the room is there. I just I don't
think they're gonna send him out, like, what are they
unless we want to, you know, work on some different
power projections. He's gotten his games up the one hundred
and nine games so far, closing in on five hundred
(56:20):
at bats. I just don't think they're gonna press him.
I could be wrong about that, and maybe he does.
I didn't send him. I didn't the other young guys
in the system. They either have like these like low
A guys, you know, rookie ball, or like Triple A.
So I didn't send Mickey Romero. You also have a
lot of pitchers that have big innings under them, like
David Sandlin would make a ton of sense. I didn't
(56:41):
send him. I'm gonna go Brandon Clark is a lock.
Zonatello is a lock. And Jofia Rodriguez, who was traded.
I'm kind of really guessing here with the Red Sox
if you can't tell the Los Angeles Angels. This was
another really tough one, like go with Nelson Rata. They
send out a lot of outfielders usually to be fair,
(57:04):
though they don't send out like the great outfielders. Nelson
rod has already moved as a twenty year old up
to Triple A. He's done some wonders. Triple A is
hitting three seventeen, so they definitely could be an element
because he's played so many games where they're like, what
are we doing here? But if you want to get
traditional AFL into your system, four hundred and twenty nine
(57:25):
at bats, let him go to the AFL and get
over five hundred. That prepares you for a full season
as a young dude. And I think that's why they
could send him out. And also, you know, I guess
I do have Drew Jones and Charlie Condon, but then
you know, he could be the other big third outfielder.
Karen could be the fourth outfielder. He could play some infield.
Like They've got some adjustments that they can do, but
(57:46):
I'm gonna go with Nelson Ratta. Barrett Kent was an option,
denz Or Guzman, Ryan Johnson, they've kind of transitioned back
to a starter. I don't think he's had enough innings
because he broke camp. I kind of think he's a lock.
And George Klassen is another one of those where he
does have a lot of innings, but he's got kind
of a weird year, and I wonder if they want
to press those innings a little bit. You also could
(58:07):
maybe put him in relief, you know, have him pitch
like fifteen to twenty relief innings and that gets him
over one hundred so far this year. So I am
gonna go Classen Johnson and Rada, So I'm gonna just
jump onto those guys. And then finally the Pittsburgh Pirates.
I had Connor Griffin in here. I want to put
Connor Griffin in I think it still makes sense. Connor
(58:30):
Griffin is whatever he wants to do, you put him
out here. I don't have any big shortstops, you know,
right now, it's Zonatello, maybe John so Luis place second,
like you can do this. I just think the Pirates
are gonna be like, dude, you had the best season,
you got hit a million times. At the end, you
(58:52):
probably want to break. I think they're gonna let him
have a break and not send him to the Fall League.
And they're gonna send Mitch Jeb and as Merlin Valdez
as Merlin Valdez a bunch of homers this year. He
can kind of be your middle infield, second basement. Jeb
can be a shortstop. He can share time with Xantella.
This is me trying to be economical about the AFL
(59:13):
and not send out all the biggest names on the planet.
I mean, listen, if you got Condon and Drew Jones
and Nelson and Connor Griffin be sick. I just don't
think they're going to do it. So I left him off.
I put Mitch jeb As, Merlin Valdez, Xander Muth, Easton Carmichael,
and Anthony Solimido Solo Meido's kind of a guess because
he got shut he got re shut down with the injury.
(59:35):
It was like a shoulder thing. He might not be available,
but we also haven't heard anything for like, I think,
like two months, so maybe he's just prepping to you know,
saving his arm to get ready for there. That's a
shot in the dark. I'm gonna say the first three, Jeb, Valdez,
and Xander, those are my locks for that team. So
the Salt River Rafters, they would be featured by Charlie Condon,
(59:55):
Drew Jones, and Nelson Rada with a pitching staff that
has what Hageman brecked Brandon Clark. You know, that's still
pretty good. Again, I'm putting together probably way too good
of a rotation. All right, Two more teams, the scott
Still Scorpions. This is the home of the Giants. We've
got the New York Mets, who I think have pretty
(01:00:16):
typically been with that team, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, and
Washington Nationals. Those are the five teams that are going
to make this up. We start with the Giants. Dakota
Jordan missed a little bit of time. Maybe they want
to press, you know, press him a little bit more. Maui.
Ahuna has to be a lock. Poor Maui. I saw
him in rookie ball so much just building up. He
(01:00:38):
does not have enough workload under him. He is a
lock to me. Hayesus Rodriguez seems like another one of
those guys they might want to get a little bit
more of a look at, as they traded for him
jonah Cox and I also put Jeralmy Maldonado relief pitcher
as I was going in doing research as options. I
(01:00:58):
think those are five guys I'm gonna lock in a
Huna jonah Cox outfield. There's really tough here. Let's just
go with Dakota Jordan. You know, they sent out some
dudes before the New York Mets. This was actually the
toughest team I had. Nobody I was really struggling on it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
They have been pretty aggressive in years past, back to
Pete Alonso, Jet Williams, Drew Gilbert. They send out their dudes.
But Jet Williams already been here. Their top pitchers, you
know they're in the majors. Jacob Rimer was already here.
You've got a couple guys that are, like you know,
(01:01:39):
Ellie on Paynia. They're not going to send out. The
biggest one that stares you in the face is Carson Bene.
Do they send out Carson Beinge? I don't know. You know,
he did get up to Triple A. It's not like
it's a lot of at bats. It might be too
much of a season behind him. I mean, what is
one hundred and one games. It's just under four hundred bats.
(01:02:00):
There's a definite possibility. Now that I stare at this, like,
I don't think I put together a big outfield. I
just didn't put him. I think Ryan Clifford's the guy.
Ryan Clifford, huge power. Maybe you want to let him
be looked at at other teams. He hit twenty six
omers this past year. He's probably gonna launch some balls.
(01:02:21):
I mean, Drew Gilbert launched a couple insane bombs to
right field. As a lefty, He's going to kill some
balls out here. So I feel pretty good about Ryan Clifford.
This is an outside one that you might be surprised about.
Mitch Voitt. That is a just drafted player that I'm
gonna kind of throw an outside mark or two. He's
(01:02:41):
like a two way guy. They've been. I think just
having him positionally play. I think originally it was gonna
be an outfielder, but he's playing second base. What better
spot for him than to go to the Arizona Fall.
He's twenty year old, but let him come out and
play some second base, hit a little bit more. As
a two way player, you gotta get that more adjusted. Absolutely,
(01:03:02):
so I think Mitch Voight is one that could be
out here. I also threw Zach Thornton starting pitcher, and
Douglas or Orleana, so you can see I was really struggling. Voight, Clifford,
and Thornton are gonna be my lucks from the New
York Mets, the Houston Astros Walker Janik. They have also
have a history of sending out a decent amount of
(01:03:23):
catchers anytime they've got somebody, So I think Janeck is
a decent option. Anderson Brido, Luis Biaz, Kolby Langford, and
Ethan Peco starting pitcher. Those are the guys I'm throwing
out you. I think Biaz really kind of like tumbled
down a little bit. I think he's a guy that
they could send out here. I think they're not a
big like send out their top guys. But also Bias
(01:03:44):
is not one of their top guys anymore. I mean,
Pipeline put them down to twenty two. He only had
sixty one games this year, fourth year. I'd be shocked
if he didn't get sent out. The other ones are
kind of pure guesses. I'm gonna go Janik Biaz and
then and I'd put Ethan Pecko with someone that was
screaming to me if I'm going to just put that
one out. I don't know about Anderson Brito the Detroit Tigers.
(01:04:07):
At one time I put both Max Clark and Kevin
McGonagall on the list. I still think that is a possibility.
I would not be surprised to see the package deal
come out, which would be massive would make this team ridiculous.
I mean the Mets and out Jet Williams and Drew Gilbert.
(01:04:27):
But I am going to say that the Detroit Tigers
are going to give a break to Max Clark, and
they might want to see more of it. Kevin McGonagall,
he missed some time earlier. He's amazing. I mean, in
some views the number one overall prospect. I mean, can
you imagine if Connor Griffin and McGonagall were out here,
the number one and two prospects in baseball be unheard of.
(01:04:50):
Me putting McGonagall on this list might be absolutely silly,
by the way, but based on the construction of what
I put together, I mean, really either one of these
guys definitely on the infield, McGonagall has free reign at
whatever spot he wants to get, and I think, you know,
with the miss time and potentially impacting in the majors soon,
I think you got to send him out here. So
(01:05:11):
I'm gonna send McGonagall. I got Jaden Hamm, I've got
Isaac Pacheco and Dylan Smith. Is my options with the Tigers.
They've already sent out Arsenio, They've already sent out Lorenzo
they've already sent out Lee like they will send out
their dudes. Max Anderson, I think is an option as well.
But you know Jade and Ham didn't get you know,
(01:05:33):
his big innings. Oh you know another one was well,
he made it to the majors, say Ti Madden, But
I guess not. I'm gonna go Dylan Smith, who is
a much older prospect who did make it to the majors,
but only thirty two innings pitched in the minors. So
let's let me go back and confirm. We are confirming McGonagall,
(01:05:53):
but checko and I'll say Ham Smith is a little outlier.
And then finally the Washington nationhs Yarlin. Susana has not
had enough innings this year. He also you can see
I have like a theme of like if guys have
been out here before, their comfortability. Susana pitched with the
Padres before, but he had one hundred and three innings
(01:06:13):
last year, only fifty six this year. You gott to
send him out. He's at double a prime spot. I
don't really have any impact starting pitchers. He gets to
run with it. He's your top dog. Now you could
be worried that this is a bad environment for him,
but based on innings pitched, like you gotta you gotta
(01:06:34):
send him out here, Caleb Loama Vida catcher. I think
always a good option when you can send a catcher
out with the top starting pitcher. Elijah Green has to
come out. I mean he is. I mean, Elijah's been
a nothing burger right, just a total, absolute nothing burger.
They got to see if they still have anything out
of him. I imagine it's we're at like rule five,
(01:06:54):
and then who's my other one? Andrew Pickney. So I'm
gonna go the first three Lama, Vito, Sosiana, and Elijah Green.
So this team would have a headline starting pitcher of
Susanna and Ham. That's it with hitters that it's really McGonagall.
It's like McGonagall and then Ryan Clifford, but everyone would
(01:07:14):
be focused on McGonagall and I don't think I put
too much crazy star power around it. So that roster
kind of makes some sense here. And then finally my
home team, the Surprise Souarros, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers,
with the Cleveland Guardians, Philadelphia Phillies, and Milwaukee Brewers. This
is an explosive one here because there's a lot of
(01:07:36):
options and rumors that are floating out around some of
these guys. Let's start with the Kansas City Royals. I
feel confident, beyond confident that Blake Mitchell will be on
that team. They sent out their catchers, they sent out
Carter Jensen last year. Blake Mitchell missed significant time this year.
He was stuck out here in complex ball. He got
(01:07:57):
like rehurt, couldn't get out. He has fifty seven games
under his belt, shock upon shock. If he's not out here,
lock him in. Same with Austin Charles. Austin Charles missed
some significant time. He's been rehabbing, kind of there's a
little bit of a lost cause thing. He's been playing
third base a lot, so I think you can maybe
(01:08:18):
play him at third. I wonder also, as I stare
at this construction, I have maybe they could even work
him in the outfield, because I got a lot of
infielders in here that maybe, you know, you want to
see him as a left or right fielder. I don't
think that's like out of the realm of possibility. LP Langving,
Blake Walters, and Steven Zoeback. Langving I think has missed
(01:08:39):
I'm totally not saying his name right. Either has missed
I think some significant time. That was why I ended
up writing it the same go. Blake Walters is already
back out here, and he was pitching in Bridge League,
so I think that sometimes Bridgeley can be a little
bit of a sign. And Zoe Back has missed some time.
So I'm gonna say Mitchell and Charles are just absolute locks,
(01:09:01):
and I'm gonna actually throw Walters and is my other option.
Texas Rangers. We have one confirmed, and I have heard
two others that were told to me a long time ago.
But things can change, and let me let me look
at this one guy even before I say it, to
see if I still feel confident about it. Yes, I do,
(01:09:23):
all right. The name that is confirmed is Colton Curtis
with the Texas Rangers. They love sending out their pitchers.
The two names that I have heard that are all
but confirmed are Winston Santos and Emiliano Toyota would be back.
I don't know if Toota would be a starter or reliever.
He was a reliever when he was out here last time.
Winston Santos just started repitching in the Bridge League. Is
(01:09:45):
lock he's a lock. Clton Curtis is a lock. I
don't know the status of Alejandro Rosario. I just know
he's been like rehabbing. I guess since I haven't heard
from him, we probably want to take him off. I
think Dylan Dryling and Malcolm Brown are Malcolm Moore are
dudes that need to come out here. Rangers have also
loved to kind of send their catchers out as well.
(01:10:06):
Cody Freeman's been out here, but both of those guys
have had some struggles lower level college guys. You know.
Could be wrong, but that would give us catchers of
Malcolm Moore and Blake Mitchell for both the home teams.
Dylan Dryling, I don't have a strong outfielder here, so
right now he's the only outfielder. So I think that
one makes a lot of sense. Cleveland Guardians Jason Churio
(01:10:31):
Mitchally he doesn't want to play here. Oh, I should
actually let mean backtrack. I'm bearing the lead here. I
had Travis Bazana. I took Travis Bazana off. I still
think there's a very high possibility that they would want
(01:10:51):
to send him out here. But I gotta tell you,
I think there's a possibility that he might not want
to come out here in his rehab. He was here
for a long time, got bombarded by there's like weird
stuff and get into all of it. But it was
just like you know, security, like keeping him away from
people like like, so I just I legitimately think there's
(01:11:12):
a possibility that he could be like, listen, let's just
not have me out here. You know he had he's
a nice like ending to the seasons, relatively strong. You know,
he's just coming off of he just had a three
hit game. He's gonna push eighty games. I think he's
not gonna I think he could use it and don't
be shocked when they release it, and he is. Because
(01:11:33):
they put Chased the Lotter out there when he missed time.
It's kind of their thing. But I decided against it
because of what I'm gonna do with the other teams,
which you might know where I'm going with it, because
there's only so many stars you can have out there,
and I'm gonna say Bazana is one where we're like, oh,
you know, he didn't end up getting out there. But
Jason Curio though has missed some time. He's just short
(01:11:54):
of three hundred at bats, which is less than last year.
Don't have a lot of outfielders. He had that shoulder injury.
Maybe he wants to play in the Dominican Winner League.
I'm gonna put him out there. I don't know if
I feel super confident about it. Juambrido, same thing, miss time,
A bunch of miss time. Michael Kennedy is just back
in action. He had been here forever. I'm gonna lock
that one in now. Ralphie Velasquez I threw out here.
(01:12:17):
I don't have a ton of corner infielders. Ralphie's had
a really strong ending to the season. I think he's
a local kid. If I remember correct that his dad
I met his dad multiple times. He is over at
four hundred and fifty at bats, so I think you
could qualify him to not be here. He could also
play in the outfield. And then here's a total curveball
for you. Daniel Espino, I have no knowledge of this.
(01:12:39):
My only knowledge is two months ago or so when
I was at the Guardians complex where Espiino came out
and worked out. I knew he existed. I saw him.
He's a human being. Still, he's not you know, mante
Teo situation. He's real. I've not heard of him doing much.
But also the Guardians put their complex on major lockdown.
(01:13:01):
But they've had like John Means down there and Mackenzie
and stuff. Gonna throw out the possibility that maybe we
get this wild curve ball friend Daniel Speen hasn't pitched
in like three years. I could be wrong on his rehab,
by the way, like he looked good. He's jacked, he
was out running, he wasn't throwing that. Maybe he's been
throwing and maybe they want to throw him in relief.
In the Arizona Fall League, total left field, them thrown
(01:13:24):
at you, but no Travis Bazana, I have them sending cheerio.
I'm gonna lock in Kennedy Brido and I'll lock in Cheerio.
I kind of feel weird about cheerio. Maybe it's Velasquez,
all right. The Philadelphia Phillies. How about Aiden Miller. Aiden
Miller with the Phillies coming out would definitely be a
(01:13:45):
big name. What a crazy cool year that Aiden Miller's had,
and the Phillies definitely bring out some big prospects. Aiden
got up to double a hit two fifty five thirteen homers,
fifty one stolen bases. This could be an opportunity for
them to maybe move him around a little bit. Maybe
they want to see him. I'm just speculating. Maybe they
want to see how he looks at third base. You know,
(01:14:06):
maybe he just comes out and he's just straight up
shortstop the whole time. But maybe there's some flexibility in it.
So we're gonna go with Aiden Miller. We're also gonna
throw out Carson D. Martini, Mavis Graves, Griffin Buckholder, and TJ. Walton.
I don't have a lot of pictures in there. I
think Graves is a lock. I think Miller is a lock.
I'm gonna say TJ. Walton, I'm gonna go a little
(01:14:29):
bit lower on this. They definitely send out some outfielders.
They like to send out some younger guys too, so
that's why Burkeholder could be the guy. But Walton, Graves,
and Aiden Miller. It leaves us finally with the Milwaukee Brewers.
I have struggled with this one because you know where
I'm going, But I am going to send both Jesus
(01:14:54):
Made and Luis Pania to the Arizona Fall League. Now,
they did not send Jackson Trio to the air as
in a faultleague before. I so that there's one thing.
Last year, though they sent out a couple young infielders
in Luis Lara and Hazus Baiaz. They've sent out oh
(01:15:15):
Eric Brown Jr. Pretty common that they send out middle infielders.
The Milwaukee Brewers do. Also. I don't think Austin Charles
fits that mold. We've only got Aiden Miller. We've only
got Aiden Miller out of that whole group that I'm
really sending. That's like true middle infil Juanmbrito second base, Okay,
but Aid Miller is the only true one. I think
(01:15:38):
if one of these guys go, they both go. These
guys are like best friends locked in. It's kind of
a debrees and solid situation made. And this is just
a speculative thing. Maybe it is every other day. It's
a version of Miller, Mady and Penia going between second
and short and they just rotate that Charles can be
(01:15:59):
a third base. And I need to give you the
rest of these guys because I'm also gonna send out
Brock Wilkin, Marko Dings, and Josh Noth, as well as
Blake Burke Wilkin has to return. He has missed so
much time he's been at the complex. I'd be shocked
if he's not. And Marco Dings as well has missed time. Now.
(01:16:20):
The only negative here is I did put three catchers
and these are bigger names, so maybe I'm wrong about that,
but I I think he's got to go. I am
not confident about Made and Paina. I do know that
Painia is like here for instructs. I would assume that
it is like you can be out here. I'm assuming
Made probably the same thing. That doesn't mean that they
(01:16:42):
would move over, but I'm just gonna say I think
we could see that. I mean, it's you know, it's
it's close ish to home and Surprise. That's a monster roster.
That roster doesn't have great pitching, you know, it's led
by I mean, there's no stud in there like Kyoto,
but it would be led by Made Miller. Painia would
(01:17:04):
be the hitters, and that would make Surprise a very
big destination. And the problem with my guess here, though,
is I've put two of the top three prospects in
baseball to their as an A fault like that is
an uncommon thing. Is there a possibility that Madi does
not come and Painia does. Yeah, that's a possibility. I
just personally feel like they're kind of a package deal
(01:17:26):
and I'm treating them solely like Solace and Deverrise. So
that's why I'm gonna stick to that. I am going
to send them out there. I think that's also a
reason why, like they don't send Bazana out and then
they say, hey, there's room if Bazana comes, I'm going
to kind of lock in Aidan Miller. Then I think
it's really tricky for both of those other guys. Then
I actually might say both don't come. But that's why
(01:17:48):
Wilkin and Dangerous are locks. Wilkin can play third, maybe
some first. Charles can play some third, maybe he goes
to the outfield. I've just created room for a lot
of these guys. We don't have a strong outfield. The
outfield is like Churio, what the hell is it? Churio?
I put dry. I don't even have any other locks,
(01:18:10):
like TJ. Walton, like, it's it's not great super outfield
unless they wanted to play Charles out there. But I
went hard with the Brewers. But you can tell, like
I'm not gonna be right about all this stuff. Are
we really going to see? You know, George Lombard, what
is this? I'm kind of just going through this, George Lombard, McGonagall, Maday,
(01:18:30):
that would be three like top twenty guys and then
you throw I mean, I don't know. Maybe that's my guessing.
That's that's why I'm guessing about this. But those are
the teams. Man, there's some big ones. I would say
Surprise would probably be the most loaded. Scottsdale has a
chance to go ballistic as well if they put out
Clark and McGonagall, So you know, don't want to be
(01:18:51):
dismissive of that. That's Scottsdale. Surprise could also just blow
our minds. What if it was Miller made Pana and Bazana.
I mean, you know where I'll be all the time.
Seattle Mariners can send out some big guys. I mean,
there's some big stuff and then you know, not to
be outdone. Is like if Salt River they put out
(01:19:12):
Charlie Condon and Connor Griffin, like watch out, so take
it with a grain of salt. These are just my
predictions for the players that could be out here. I'm
definitely gonna be wrong about lots of stuff. The hope is, though,
the Locke players I throw at you, those are the
ones I'm trying to say that, like, I think they're
really going to be out here for better or for worse. Now,
there's a couple of players that I've talked to you
(01:19:33):
about in here that I do know are coming, that
are just hidden in the weeds. The players that I
said were confirmed, those are confirmed. Those are publicly confirmed.
There's like three or four players on this list that
I've i've you know, kind of maybe been told about
that that look like they are as far as I
(01:19:55):
know that they're going, but things can change. Of not
giving you any designation to it, but I feel pretty
good about these. So let's see how it all works out,
and let me know what you guys think. Who's a
guy that you would love to see in thereson a
follag I didn't list who's one team that you would
be super excited about? And if you got any little
snaky information, feel free to hit me up about it.
Because we don't know when the rosters are going to
(01:20:15):
be released, but I can tell you a lot of
players know they know if they've been asked, they know
if they're going, they know if they've declined. Like, I'm
not sure that there's a ton of surprises, but there
are still some transitional stuff, Like I'd heard a couple
names of players that might and then it was like,
oh no, the team decided not to. So like that's
where we're in right now, and hopefully we'll get some
clarity on it very very soon. But let me know
(01:20:36):
what you guys think. Those are my projected rosters and
I will post the AFL prediction sheet on my Patreon
at in this League dot com if you want to
take a look at it and look over once it's
all out there, I got to take off some of
my markers so you don't you don't know all the
stuff that I know, but I will put this sheet
out on Patreon, and I hope you guys did get
go over to Patreon as well for the P one ADPs,
my prospect updates and Dynasty and next week early I'm
(01:20:59):
actually playing because I should have the P and ADP
information this uh like this weekend. I'm going to try
to get one out Monday because I've been you know, inconsistent.
This episode's like weirdly out late, So I'm gonna try
to get another one out really quick into the week
for the p and ADP breakdowns, and then try to
get a roundtable talk about the p W and a
DPS and I kind of think that might then line
(01:21:21):
up to like the AFL rosters being released, which will
do a breakdown. Plus I'm gonna be breaking down the
end season stats, the big performers, all you know, prospect
team for the year. We'll be doing that right here
in Prospect one. Follow me on Twitter at is it
the Welsh. Hopefully you guys enjoyed this episode. I sure
as Elle did, putting it together as I always do,
and looking forward to talking to you again next time
right here in Prospect one.
