Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, proven Not
Perfect.
Look, I'm about to share withyou a podcast, one of the Proven
Not Perfect in Brief podcasts.
This one is on focus on what islight and darkness, but let me
just tell you this, okay.
So you're going to hear a humin the background that is
absolutely constant, both rightnow and in the podcast.
(00:22):
I'm going to tell you what'sgoing on.
I am in the middle of a poststorm situation here where you
know, I'm leaning into some coolthings that I hear trending,
like um, cold showers, like um,let's see cool breezes versus
air conditioning like no poweryeah, that part.
(00:44):
So you know, when the spiritmoves me and it's time to talk,
it's time to do the podcast.
It's a ministry.
I'm doing it.
I did it.
But as I listened back, I heardthe home and I was like I
wonder how many people are goingto be like what is that home?
What is going on?
Not so sure.
So now you know, all right, here you go, enjoy.
(01:07):
Hey, proven Not Perfect.
So I need to check in and seehow y'all are doing, how you're
living, especially if you are inareas that, over the last
couple of weeks of September andOctober, have been vulnerable
to massive storms.
I am hoping that you are welland blessed and, quite frankly,
(01:30):
taking the time to appreciateall that is, and so that's
actually what I wanted to get onhere and talk about.
I want to talk about all thatis because it is so easy for us
to over index on what isn't, andI'm assuming that that's just
an innate quality of kind of whowe are as human beings.
(01:53):
But there's a way to pivot ourthinking to all that is, and you
might call it a hokey exerciseor you might call it a really
smart tool, but for me, whenthings are massively going on
around me and I have no control,I really, really, really like
(02:19):
to center myself, to centermyself, and in centering myself
I try to focus on all that is,and I start with God and Jesus
and the Holy Spirit in my life, and that immediately gives me
(02:42):
the calm that I need to take thenext step of the exercise, and
then next I start to reflectupon all that they have
presented to me, even in themidst of so much stuff going on
around me.
All that is so you know, if weover index on the external
(03:09):
things, we drive ourselvescompletely batty and we allow
ourselves to get to a place ofdis ease.
And when we get to that placeof dis-ease without the medicine
to calm us down, we arevulnerable to all the effects of
(03:32):
the enemy All of them.
And you know what that isDis-ease.
(03:56):
Instead of thinking about thethings that are not, let's start
to think about and focus on thethings that are so.
First thing is ability to usemy eyes to see around me.
I take in everything that I seeand I appreciate each and
(04:21):
everything for what it is, and Iliterally mean that the picture
on the wall, the rug on thefloor, the rock, the rock
outside my window, the blade ofgrass, the tree, the sky, no
(04:52):
matter how clear or how cloudyit is.
I just take it in for what itis and I appreciate it for what
it is, and I allow my mind tospend time just celebrating the
(05:15):
things that are.
Then it's time to move on torecovery and acknowledgement
that maybe things aren't exactlythe way that I want them to be,
but they are exactly as theyare intended to be for me at
this moment.
Otherwise it wouldn't be so,because it's exactly as it's
(05:38):
intended to be for me at thisvery moment.
What can I receive in it?
How am I feeling about how I'mshowing up?
How am I feeling about who I'vebecome and who I'm becoming?
How do I feel about my purpose,my intention, how do I feel
(06:04):
about moving forward, fullyequipped to do so with increased
wisdom, increased knowledge,increased understanding?
This is kind of what I callthat recovery zone.
And then the last piece, I'mgoing to call that renewed.
(06:28):
That's what we are Once weaccept things for what they are.
We accept what is and we don'tlook for what is not.
We allow ourselves to reflectand receive the lessons that are
(06:52):
right before us and deeplywithin us, and then we reemerge
in this renewal of opening upfor what's next.
And, trust me, when you takethe time to just accept
everything, let it go and openup.
(07:16):
New things flush in like ariver.
You see things you never sawbefore, you hear things you
never heard before and youinvite new creative ideas and
(07:38):
you level set your energy.
So usually I like to give you ascripture word, especially when
I'm doing sort of a ramble likethis.
This is so.
I'm going to see if I can giveyou a scripture word that kind
(07:59):
of coincides with the ramblethat you're hearing me do right
now.
Let's see, I am going to takeit all the way back to the
beginning, and this scriptureword is found in Genesis and I'm
(08:25):
going to, like I said, I'mgoing to take it all the way
back to the beginning, likeliteral, like literal the
beginning.
In the beginning, god createdthe heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form andvoid and darkness was on the
face and the earth, the earthwas without form and void and
darkness was on the face of thedeep and the Spirit of God was
hovering over the face of thewaters.
(08:45):
Then God said Let there belight.
And there was light.
And God saw the light, that itwas good, and God divided the
light from the darkness.
Ooh, that was Genesis 1, verses1 through 4.
(09:10):
So all that that I talked aboutresetting, recovering and
renewing gets us right back tothe light that is separated from
the darkness that can seek toenvelop us and surround us when
(09:30):
things feel really heavy andreally tough and really hard.
How do we separate ourselvesfrom that?
Separating the light from thedarkness goes back to anchoring
ourselves on whose we are.
Period, that's it, guys.
(09:51):
Go be the light.
Proven that perfect Peace.
