Consistency is the foundation of success in every aspect of life. Making multiple small, correct decisions over time leads to great results – the same way that going to the gym consistently is the only path to physical improvement.

• Consistency equals results – not the other way around
• Success is not a lottery ticket but the compound effect of small, correct decisions
• The first step of failure is inconsistency
• Identify your shortcomings by tracking where you lack consistency
• Create a detailed schedule to visualize gaps and opportunities
• Balance different areas of life requiring consistency (physical, emotional, professional)
• Solutions often require adjusting schedules and priorities
• Three keys to consistency: more time, better organization, and action tracking
• Use a checklist to monitor progress and reinforce consistent behavior
• Balance is critical – you can't lean too far in any one direction

Use a checklist, make a schedule, and create more time in your day. I promise you, if you follow these steps, your life will be exponentially changed and you'll be so much more organized.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
be consistent.
You know, I was thinking tomyself the other day how, in
addition to not just having amission something I said the
prior week and really fulfillingyourself mentally and
physically and everything else,to really go along with that,

(00:23):
you really need to be consistent.
Like, imagine this Imagine ifyou went to the gym once a month
.
Imagine if you went to the gymonce a week.
Okay, is it better than nothing?
Yeah, but you're not beingconsistent enough to actually
get any results.
Now, I've said this before, butthere's this really, really
great, excellent book called theCompound Effect and it
basically has to do with makingmultiple small, correct

(00:44):
decisions.
Four, but there's this really, really great, excellent book
called the Compound Effect andit basically has to do with
making multiple small, correctdecisions which, over time,
equal a great result.
Okay, no different than eatingme doing standup comedy, a guy
shooting a lot of jump shots.
If you're going to beconsistent, you got to realize
that consistency equals tworesults, doesn't work the other

(01:04):
way around.
All right, great results is nota lottery ticket.
You don't do one thing greatone time and then you're done.
Okay.
And I was thinking that theother day because, out of all
the different aspects of yourlife, out of my life and stuff,

(01:25):
whether it's between personal orphysical, emotional, meditating
, jujitsu, comedy, everything.
There's a lot to do.
You got to be consistent in allof that, because anything that
you start to be less consistentwith, automatically you begin to
fail.
The first steps of failure isinconsistency, and that's why I
really wanted to talk about thistoday, as always, only for like

(01:48):
a few minutes of your time, mytime, etc.
Because hearing the right thingdoesn't just make a physical
imprint because you're hearingit, but also me as the one
saying it.
It makes a physical imprint toinstill these actions in my own
life, which is why I document itand it's important to me to say
so.
Here's the thing I can onlyspeak for myself and my failures

(02:15):
, you know.
As far as being able to likemake corrections, you have to
know what mistakes you are, andI'm just going to say a few of
mine out loud because maybe you,as a listener, you can sort of
think of where your shortcomingsare.
So, and not just that, also howto overcome them, which is what
I wanted to talk about today.

(02:39):
So, physical health I don'texercise enough Jiu-jitsu.
That's a problem right now asfar as me.
Being consistent and doingcomedy shows the amount, the
quantity.
You know how do I combine itall.
I got to make a schedule and ifyou make a schedule you can
physically see all of yourshortcomings and where you have

(03:00):
time to fill them, plain andsimple right.
As far as jiu-jitsu goes, I'monly really training once a week
now and that's not consistentenough.
That's not going to make mesuccessful to be able to
continue to evolve and getbetter and stuff like that.
So I'm having to change myschedule working from going in

(03:24):
the mornings to maybe a midday, maybe a night class.
Problem with the night class,to be completely honest with you
, is if I exercise at night, Ifeel awful, I feel like I don't
get a good night's rest and itmesses me up the next day.
So is it better than nothing?
Yes, but I'm just going to haveto try to go to the noon
classes.
That's also hard becauseimagine leaving your work in the

(03:49):
middle of the day to exercise.
Again, it's another problem, but it's the only solution
that's working for right now.
And I don't go at nights alsobecause I need the nights to be
able to think clearly and workon comedy.
That's number one.
Number two physicallyexercising.

(04:19):
Now that my schedule has changed, I'm noticing that I'm running
into that problem of having toexercise at night, so I'm
getting up earlier.
I'm getting up around 4 o'clockin the morning, so think about
that and, honestly, that justmeans that I'm going to bed
earlier.
If you get up earlier, you'regoing to want to go to bed
earlier.
You get equal amounts of rest.
Two problems, two solutions.

(04:42):
And as far as comedy shows go,I'm getting booked less because
my level of my level ofperformance now requires more
money and I'm getting bookedless, but I'm getting paid more.
However, I want to get bookedmore.
So what's the solution to that?
Solution to that guys is thatI'm just going to have to, upon
my choice, let them know whichis what I'm going to do today.

(05:04):
I'm making phone calls topeople that I've said no to and
swinging back to them and justlet them know that you know I
will be willing to work with youand do a show for your company
or your whatever at a lesserprice, but I want to do two
shows, or I want to be booked asecond time, you know.

(05:25):
Or, on top of that, just letthem know that I have new
material that I want to try, soit's a little bit more risky, um
, but we both win.
You know, typically for a onehour I get paid a certain amount
and, uh, people, and if I getpaid, if I do like 15 minutes, I

(05:46):
get paid a less amount, right, but people want to book me for
an hour.
For what other people pay mefor only 15 minutes because, no
fault of the client, peopledon't know what to pay a
comedian, right, without beingtoo vague, on average ballpark

(06:11):
you should be making $2,000 forone hour, okay, so if I'm doing
a one hour show, stand-up comedy, I'm going to get $2,000.
Which means, if you divide thatby four, if I do 15 minutes, I
should get paid $500.
But I got people reaching mesaying they want to pay me a
hundred for a whole hour.

(06:32):
It's like that's 20 times lessthan I get paid, right.
So I'm telling these peoplethat I'm willing to do maybe 20
minutes for 500, which I feellike is comparable, you know,
cause it's more than it's moreminutes than I do for a
15-minute rate.
I don't want to get into thewoods too much.
I don't want to come back towhat I'm talking about.
My point is that I need to findadjustments to be able to get

(06:55):
booked more so that I can havemore stage time, because that is
me getting experience formyself.
You know what I mean Morerepetitions, which is what I
need and I want.
You know what I mean Morerepetitions, which is what I
need and I want, because part ofthe goal of being infamous, all

(07:19):
right is to be able to be knownin many different places.
For example, yesterday I was atCostco and a guy that I did a
show for before he was actuallythe teller and he said, hey, do
you do stand-up comedy?
And he recognized me and I said, yeah, I do, I do.
He said, oh, I saw you.
I saw you at like a show.
And I was like, oh yeah, thanks, man, appreciate it.
You know, glad I made you laughand stuff like that.

(07:40):
So he got my contactinformation and stuff.
He didn't have my Instagram atthat moment, but he has it now
and and yeah it.
And yeah, it was a great, cool, random moment, but it's because
I was being consistent.
I used to get booked a lot more.
I used to get booked a lot more, right, but I got paid a lot
less.
Now I get paid a lot more and Iget booked less.

(08:01):
So I want to find a happygolden ratio, so to speak, of
where I'm getting booked moreand having more stage time,
because the reality is is thatthose are still guys and girls
at a show of 400 people orsomething, that I might get
booked less but they'll rememberme and they'll remember me for

(08:24):
a later date to where maybethey're not paying $2,000
individually Okay, uh, butthey're paying $20 for a ticket
to come see me at a local comedyclub, or 50 or a hundred or
whatever it is Right.
So, um, those are some of myfailures, those are some of my
shortcomings, but the goldenresolution to a lot of it is

(08:46):
more time and more organization.
If you have more time, you canget more done, plain and simple.
Plus, you have to leave timefor errors and stuff like that
you know random stuff that mayhappen that gets in the way of
your schedule.
And then, secondly, have aschedule.
I have a legit Excelspreadsheet breaking up all

(09:08):
parts of my day and right now, since my schedule changed, I'm
still making updates, I'm stillworking on it and stuff.
So if you have a checklist, that's one and not in this
particular order, a checklist A,a spreadsheet, you know, with
an actual schedule B and then Cmore time you can get relatively

(09:29):
anything accomplished.
Now, when I started this littleepisode, I said that if you just
listen, I'll tell you how youcan take those different
principles of being moreconsistent, noticing your
failures and how to overcomethem.
Well, if you do this, you willhave time to be more consistent,
you will have the organizationto be more consistent and you
will be making more actions, therefore making you more

(09:52):
consistent.
And how do you know that yougot things accomplished?
Because you have a checklist.
I guarantee, if you just followthese few steps, your life will
be exponentially changed andyou'll be so much more organized
.
I mean, imagine going to thegym and not really knowing what
exercises you're going to bedoing that day.
All right, now apply thatprinciple okay to your life,

(10:14):
okay to your diet, to yourpersonal relationship, making
time to go out with yoursignificant other, to give time
to yourself.
That's another thing that Italked about.
These are all very, veryimportant things and, going back
to what I originally first said, is I got a lot going on, but
guess what?
So do you?
Everybody does physically, emotionally right and every

(10:37):
other way, and you got to keepthem all balanced.
You can't be left, you can't beright, you got to be about, you
got to be squared up on yourfeet, all right, and everything
that you do, because that's howyou're going to be successful,
not just in life, butspiritually and mentally, and
again physically and everythingelse and so forth and so on.
So, anyway, I know this was morelike a blueprint and a little

(10:59):
bit more long than I usually goI usually go about like five or
six minutes but I just wanted toshare this information because
as, again, I won't ever be ableto repeat it enough.
Right, this isn't just for you, this is for me, because this is
a physical imprint of mehearing it and saying it and
documenting life lessons learned, and not just that, imprinting

(11:22):
it in my life so that I apply it.
So, aside from you saying it,if you're just hearing it, you
can do it in your life too, andthis, I promise you, this is
going to make a big differenceand pay dividends in your life.
So, that being mentioned, Ihope everybody has a beautiful
rest of your day.
I got my checklist in front ofme.
Updating the podcast is on it.
I already checked it off andI'm going to upload this and be

(11:45):
done it soon.
And on to the next part of myschedule, schedules, checklist
and time.
Add more time, make a schedule, make a checklist.
I'm Benja, well done, check meout, peace.
