ambitions of those who oncesought to dominate the world

only underscores this connection.

where he trailed President Trumpto the G20 summit.
But why Hamburg?
His trip wasn't just tone-deaf,it was steeped in troubling
symbolism.
Hamburg, a city with a dark andlayered history, has served as a
hub for covert operations andimperial ambitions for centuries

This is the city that gave riseto the infamous Bismarck
battleship, one of NaziGermany's most powerful naval
weapons.
It's a place where factoriesand shipyards churned out the

Could it be a subtle rallyingcry for those who long for
Germany's darker legacy?
Or, even worse, might it be asecret way to say Heil Hitler?

Was there anyone there alsonamed Wilhelm, echoing his
original surname?
Did they exchange glances atthe HH bumper stickers on their
luxury cars or share knowingwords steeped in the city's
shadowy past?

Hamburg with something in hissatchel?
A secret document, a whisperedmessage, or perhaps a new
mission to carry out upon hisreturn to New York?
The timing of his trip, thelayers of symbolism surrounding

First, let me tell you what thefingerprints indicate.

I arrived in Hamburg in theearly 90s during the winter.
It was freezing so cold thatthe river Elbe froze over Now.

Typically, skating on a riveris a very bad idea, but the Elbe
is dammed up in Hamburg,forming a beautiful lake in the
heart of the city.
That winter, the ice was eightinches thick, clear as glass and
hamburgers turned it into amagical celebration.
It became an impromptu festivalon the ice, with little huts

and carts serving food, hotchocolate and pastries.
People were skating, laughing,dancing, strangers meeting for
the first time in such a joyful,spontaneous way.
It reminded me of what CentralPark must have been like in New
York City in the 1800s, brimmingwith life and camaraderie.

Later that year, I attended myfirst Christmas market, what
they call a Kris Kringle Market.
It was just as magical thewarmth, the closeness, the
smells of spiced wine androasted chestnuts.
I can still picture it.
One day, I'd like to spendChristmas traveling from town to
town in Germany, visiting eachKris Kringle market, soaking in

the joy and festive spirit theybring.
So on December 19, 2016,.
When I heard about the BerlinChristmas market massacre just
weeks after Trump's first win.
It hit me like a punch to thegut.
This wasn't the Germany I knew.
This was a foreign enemy of theGerman people, just as foreign

as what would later happen inNew York City.
Now let's talk about New York.
I've spent eight years of mylife in New York State, with
just under a year in New YorkCity.
It's a beautiful city.
It's a place oftenmisunderstood for its bluntness
or sarcasm, but beneath thattough exterior lies a generous
and compassionate heart.

That's why one of the world'sfirst emoticons was I heart NY.
That big red heart representsthe soul of the city.
Represents the soul of the city.

Is America spinning out ofcontrol, not from within, but

under the orchestration offorces we thought we defeated in
1945?
This brings us back to theso-called Never Trump movement.
Is it simply a domesticpolitical faction or does it act
as a proxy for foreigninterests.
When you examine the anti-Trumpfervor that has swept through

certain corners of the politicallandscape, it mirrors the
tactics of psychological warfareused by authoritarian regimes.
Are we witnessing historyrepeat itself in ways that have
been carefully hidden in plainsight?
These are not comfortablequestions, but they are

of terror, whether in Berlin,new York or New Orleans, is
being exploited by those whoseek to undermine America, then

ambitions of those who oncesought to dominate the world

only underscores this connection.

where he trailed President Trumpto the G20 summit.
But why Hamburg?
His trip wasn't just tone-deaf,it was steeped in troubling
symbolism.
Hamburg, a city with a dark andlayered history, has served as a

battleship, one of NaziGermany's most powerful naval

is so deeply tied to imperialambition and covert action?
Could it be a subtle rallyingcry for those who long for
Germany's darker legacy?
Or, even worse, might it be asecret way to say Heil Hitler?
And that brings us back to deBlasio.

Was there anyone there alsonamed Wilhelm, echoing his
original surname?
Did they exchange glances atthe HH bumper stickers on their

A secret document, a whisperedmessage, or perhaps a new
mission to carry out upon hisreturn to New York?

I arrived in Hamburg in theearly 90s during the winter.

Typically, skating on a riveris a very bad idea, but the Elbe
is dammed up in Hamburg,forming a beautiful lake in the
heart of the city.
That winter, the ice was eightinches thick, clear as glass and
hamburgers turned it into amagical celebration.

and carts serving food, hotchocolate and pastries.
People were skating, laughing,dancing, strangers meeting for
the first time in such a joyful,spontaneous way.
It reminded me of what CentralPark must have been like in New
York City in the 1800s, brimmingwith life and camaraderie.

Later that year, I attended myfirst Christmas market, what
they call a Kris Kringle Market.
It was just as magical thewarmth, the closeness, the
smells of spiced wine androasted chestnuts.
I can still picture it.
One day, I'd like to spendChristmas traveling from town to
town in Germany, visiting eachKris Kringle market, soaking in

the joy and festive spirit theybring.
So on December 19, 2016,.
When I heard about the BerlinChristmas market massacre just
weeks after Trump's first win.
It hit me like a punch to thegut.
This wasn't the Germany I knew.
This was a foreign enemy of theGerman people, just as foreign

as what would later happen inNew York City.
Now let's talk about New York.
I've spent eight years of mylife in New York State, with
just under a year in New YorkCity.
It's a beautiful city.
It's a place oftenmisunderstood for its bluntness
or sarcasm, but beneath thattough exterior lies a generous
and compassionate heart.

That's why one of the world'sfirst emoticons was I heart NY.
That big red heart representsthe soul of the city.
Represents the soul of the city.
The West Side Highway Massacreon Halloween 2017 was not New

It was an attack on New Yorkers, just as the Berlin attack was
an assault on the German people.
And let's not forget the tragicshooting of NYPD officer
Miasotis Familia the day beforede Blasio flew to Hamburg.
That loss was foreign.

It was as alien to New York asVaren Wilhelm, ashamed of his
real name, operating under theguise of Bill de Blasio, whose
apparent shame extended to hisrole as a New Yorker, turning
his back on the NYPD and thecity he was meant to serve.

the World Trade Center, achilling reminder of past
horrors.

1945?
This brings us back to theso-called Never Trump movement.
Is it simply a domesticpolitical faction or does it act
as a proxy for foreigninterests.
When you examine the anti-Trumpfervor that has swept through

certain corners of the politicallandscape, it mirrors the
tactics of psychological warfareused by authoritarian regimes.
Are we witnessing historyrepeat itself in ways that have
been carefully hidden in plainsight?
These are not comfortablequestions, but they are
necessary ones, because if theideology that drives these acts

of terror, whether in Berlin,new York or New Orleans, is
being exploited by those whoseek to undermine America, then
we have to confront theuncomfortable truth the battle
isn't just political, it'sexistential, which means foreign

the script.
They seem to represent acarefully constructed narrative

larger production, with the realpower lying in the hands of
those writing the script.
Some may argue that Wilhelm ispolitically irrelevant, his
