Okay, if you want strategiesand answers to help you where
you are in your project, thenyou want to book a strategy call
, ok.
So now that we have that out theway, let's hop into this part
(03:12):
too.
Ok, and I'm calling thisepisode standing on business.
We're going to stand onbusiness and we're going to talk
about mindset before marketing, about mindset before marketing.
Okay, because there's somethings that I think I don't know
, we're confused about or wehaven't, you know, been taught
about.
So I'm a teacher today, okay,so, um, so my first thing I want
(03:43):
to touch on is your words, andwe touched on this a little bit
before.
I want to say, in an earliershow.
I've been here since May, sosometime in May, I think, we
touched on this a little bit.
We're going to touch on it againin a different way, because I
hear you guys wanting help andyou know, some of you all have
woke up, had your badexperiences when it comes to
self publishing and publishingyour book yourself.
(04:05):
Okay, I get it.
You bumped your head, youmessed up.
Some of you, all you know, went, did your research and figured
it out, but you're still notmaking money with your book.
Okay, and I know it's a lot ofyou all out there.
Here's what I need to let youknow, because one of the main
reasons why you're not makingmoney with your book, with your
(04:29):
message, with your story, isbecause you, your words, are
preventing you from doing that.
Okay, let me break down what I'msaying so.
We cannot.
We cannot expect for people tobuy a book, support our business
.
First of all, if you're abusiness owner, you shouldn't be
(04:51):
looking for support.
Let's just leave that rightthere.
You should not be looking forsupport.
You should be catering andmarketing your product, your
brand, whatever it is that yougot going on, whether it's
speaking engagements, whatever.
You should be putting that infront of the people that you're
talking to, putting your productin front of the people that you
(05:12):
created it for.
Okay.
And when it comes to authors, Ithink you get so stuck on a book
sale that you can't see nothingoutside of that.
We have to change that.
Okay, and you might say myvoice sound real stern, because
I'm serious about this.
I am sick and tired of seeingauthors complain about not
(05:39):
making money with their books.
And then when I go to my littlelist in my brain, brain, in my
head, and I'm going down thelist, asking did you do this,
did you do that?
You ain't did none of that.
So, so let me just start on thenumber one thing.
You are blocking your blessingsfrom book sales, from business
sales, from anything that yougot going on that can possibly
make money because of your mouth, Okay.
(06:03):
I have had several conversationswith authors, whether they
self-publish, whatever they gotgoing on, okay.
Sometimes they don't even got abook.
It might be a business, okay.
And then what happens is in thebeginning of the conversation
or either at the end of theconversation.
It's always from the personthat needs help, from the person
(06:24):
that's not experiencing sales.
Is that they call themselvesbroke?
They call themselves I've heardbroke, busted and disgusted.
I've heard, well, I'mstruggling, well, I'm just, you
know, trying to make it.
What are we talking about?
That's crazy to me.
That's crazy to me.
And let me tell you somethingit does not work when it comes
to business.
(06:44):
It doesn't work.
It's never going to work.
So you need to work on yourmindset.
Let me explain something.
It starts in your mindset.
I didn't start making the moneythat I really wanted to make in
my business per client, okay.
Until I changed my mindset.
(07:07):
Before that, I was complainingand saying the same stuff
everybody else was saying andsomething woke me up because I
had said in too many webinarsfree, free.
Y'all know, y'all don't, y'alldon't appreciate free.
Okay, I have said in so manyfree webinars, took notes.
I'm a great note taker.
I took notes and I still leftthose webinars and didn't do
(07:30):
nothing, didn't apply the freeinformation that was given me
until one day I woke up andrealized, well dang, they all
were saying the same thing.
I never applied it, though.
Once I decided to apply it andchange my mindset, then only
then is when I started seeingthe results that I was expecting
(07:52):
.
But what I did first was Ichanged my mindset.
So I condition my mindset tothink, every day that I wake up
and I'm breathing, is that moneyis coming to me.
And I ain't talking about no,no, no, jokey stuff.
And I'm serious, I'm so seriouswhen I say this yes, you're
going to have days where youdon't make money.
Yes, you may have weeks whereyou don't make money, but it
(08:13):
don't stay like that.
But if you engage inconversation, I already tell
people I do not have brokeconversations period.
Okay.
So I need you to adapt that, like, write that down.
Stop having broke conversations.
When it comes to your book, yourbrand, I don't care what's
going on on the news.
I don't care what's going on onthe news.
(08:33):
I don't care what's going on inpolitics.
I don't care what they said.
Okay, everyone is out in thestore spending money.
People are spending money 24hours a day.
If they were not, amazonwouldn't exist.
Let's just be real Amazon wouldnot exist.
Okay, so you have to get awayfrom thinking broke, talking to
people who want to have brokeconversations.
(08:55):
Cut that stuff off because it'snot going to help you.
Ok, you struggling because youwant to.
Now I'm being, I'm really, Ifeel like I'm sitting here
talking to somebody, I'm talkingto you all, but I really feel
like I'm in a real conversationbecause I take this stuff to
heart, because I'm telling youwhat helped me and what really
(09:16):
helped me was changing mymindset.
Changing my mindset.
If I did not change my mindset,I'll be sitting back and playing
like the rest of the people.
For what?
And ever since I changed mymindset and my words when I tell
you I have accomplished, conquered and knocked down any
(09:38):
and everything that thought itwas going to stop me from doing
something, can't nothing stop me, period.
I don't care how much it costs,I don't care what it is Now
thinking and still thinkingrealistically right, but not so
realistically to where you justlike, put a limit on top of your
dreams and your goals.
We got to stop this.
(10:12):
Ok, I'm going to go live wordsto change your mindset and think
that increase is alwaysavailable to you, because guess
what it is?
We cannot be all up in thisBible and then saying we broke
what.
That don't go together.
That don't go together.
It don't.
(10:33):
Changing your mindset, changingyour broke conversations and
stop having them.
Changing the people around youwho don't want nothing and who
ain't on what you want that willchange.
That will help you step intothe arena that you want to step
into.
That includes increasing wealth, not just money.
We don't want just money.
I don't want just clients.
(10:54):
I want to create generationalwealth, but I also want to help
people see results.
That's why I do what I do.
As you can see, I'm verypassionate about this, but we
got to change what we're doing.
So when you do work with me orany coach, for that reason, you
see the results because you didwhat they told you to do.
If you come and you don't dowhat I, that's a whole different
(11:17):
, separate conversation.
But again, in changing yourmindset, be open to trust the
information that I'm giving you.
Okay, so we're going to take aquick break and we will be right
back.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I am Lord, all by
myself.
I don't need any help.
I can handle things on my own.
I am the first and the last.
(12:08):
Whatever you need, just ask ForI am, I am, I am God, I was
there in the beginning and I'llbe back when you have the
(12:34):
beginning and the beginning whenyou have to leave.
I'm all seeing, all knowing, all my dear ever should twang
(12:54):
For I am, I am, I am God, I wasa big man in the beginning and
I'll be back when you come back.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
All right, so we're
going to get right back into it,
that song right there I am God.
You cannot believe, you can't.
It's not possible for you tobelieve he is God.
But then you walking aroundcalling yourself all the words
that don't line up with thewords that he wrote, that don't
line up with the bible, thatdon't.
(13:38):
God is not gonna go against hisword.
He's not going to go against.
He cannot.
Okay, that's one of his laws.
He is not going to go againsthis word.
But when you step out and you goagainst what you said you
wanted and what you said, youbelieve in him, for he don't
have no problem providing it andmaking it happen.
But you cancel it out everytime you say that you're broke,
(14:02):
every time you hop on the phonewith one of your girlfriends or
one of your guys yeah, man, I'mjust, I'm just going through.
Even though you may be goingthrough, ok, you got to see
yourself past it.
That's why they call it goingthrough, because you ain't
standing there in one spot.
So, yeah, I ain't.
Yeah, we got to change somethings, we got to change our
mindset, we got to change ourwords and then, and only then,
(14:23):
will you open up that thattunnel, for the increase to come
through, for the opportunitiesto come through.
Okay, I did not experience thatuntil I changed my mindset.
When I changed my mindset, allkinds of stuff started happening
, okay, so, um, I had to giveyou that.
So, next, and we're going to,we're going to keep going.
(14:45):
So, um, let me see, I got mylittle notes right here.
Okay, we want to focus on youbeing an author, a brand, a
business and a movement.
Stop worrying about book sales.
It ain't about that.
It's not about that.
That's why I always say themoney is in the message, it's in
the message.
You're supposed to be focusingon the message, on the message.
So what should you be doing?
(15:05):
You should be going live, talking about your message.
If you got a book releasing, you should be going live.
Facebook, whatever your platformis, okay, don't.
Don't stick on one platformjust because this is where
you've always been, cause I'mgoing to tell y'all TikTok is a
game changer.
It's a game changer and don'toperate like Facebook.
Facebook, we hang there, causethat's kind of the first one
(15:26):
that was out.
But, um, try Instagram, tryTikTok.
I would suggest TikTok beforeInstagram.
Okay, it just operates differentand you want to get in a place
to where you can talk to peoplewho have no idea who you are,
but they love your message.
They love what you're talkingto.
Those are the people going tojoin your email list, which you
should be building.
That's a whole, notherconversation.
(15:47):
Those are the people going tojoin your email list.
They're going to follow you andthey're gonna tune into your
content, your messages and whatyou're saying.
That is how you build anaudience.
It's not about all thesefollowers.
I know you see all the peoplegoing viral and all that.
That's not.
What social media is for is totake your message in this book.
(16:07):
That is about your story thatyou said God told you to write
Because, listen, y'all don'tknow how many clients I work
with that say God told them towrite this book, it was
prophesied to them and this andthat and it was spoke over their
life.
Then we published a book andthen nothing happened, not
because I didn't give it to them, but because they just don't.
(16:28):
You have to put the work in.
His word can't do what it sayunless you put the work in.
It's not a magician, it's not amagic ball, it's not just gonna
happen.
Okay, so I'm done with that.
All right.
So next, um, it was some otherthings I wanted to touch on.
I want you to stay focused onum being a business for real and
(16:53):
showing up for real.
Okay, so let's talk about it.
Small business owners we'regoing to start there.
Stop calling yourself a smallbusiness owner.
Let's just start there.
Stop calling yourself a smallbusiness owner, because every
time I talk to one of y'all, yousay you believe in for millions
(17:13):
.
Oh, I'm a six figure.
This and six figure that I got acouple of things to say about
the whole six figure thing.
Okay, because you, yourbusiness, can grow, whether you
make six figures or not.
You can build an audience, whether you make six figures or
not.
(17:33):
Okay, you can make four or five, six figures in a day, in a
month, in 12 months, in threeyears, whatever it is,
everybody's journey is different, so don't get caught up in the
six figure thing, to whereeverything got to be six figures
.
I see, I've seen, I've seenwomen, men and people just not
(17:56):
even be excited about theirbrands and their books and
whatever it is they got going on.
It's all in the same pile, right?
I've seen it where they're notexcited simply because it didn't
sound like somebody else'sstory, because you didn't make
$10,000 in five minutes.
That ain't a big deal, you,what?
Y'all got this twisted.
No, no, if I make $100 in onehour, I make a post about it.
(18:22):
Then I post it, I send an emailabout it.
What I talk about it, I bragabout it.
I do a video posted on TikTok.
Every win is a win.
You got to realize that theywin ain't going to be your win.
You don't know what they did tomake that you know what I'm
saying.
They might have spent $2,000 inads.
You don't know the backstory.
(18:43):
So stop getting caught up inwhat your results must look like
someone else's.
This is not what this is.
We not playing copycat.
We're not playing copycat, weare playing.
We are here.
We are here to learn how tobuild our business.
What does branding mean for us?
What does marketing mean for us?
We are so used to in the blackcommunity.
(19:05):
We are so used to taking advicefrom other people the way they
did it.
Right now, there are somegeneral things that we can all
do the same, but when it comesto your journey, it's not gonna
happen like somebody else hashappened.
My story didn't happen likenobody else.
I know right, but what happenedwas I wasn't scared and then I
(19:27):
was consistent.
I showed up.
When I told you I was broke inAtlanta, I meant that I was
broke in Atlanta and I didn'thave a plan.
But I started going live onthis free platform called
Periscope and I showed up everyday, every day, talking to
(19:49):
myself.
I tell some of y'all to go liveand you tell me oh, I went live
and nobody showed up.
And what you telling me?
For it's nothing's going tohappen overnight.
Nothing's going to New YorkTimes bestsellers.
A lot of y'all want that titleso bad.
But what you don't understandis that it does not happen
(20:10):
overnight.
They did a lot of marketing forthat, a lot of showing up, a
lot of making themselves visible.
It's about visibility.
Marketing means visibility.
Marketing does not meanguaranteed Nothing is guaranteed
.
No results are guaranteed.
Nobody's going to guarantee youanything.
(20:32):
I have had people say oh, if Ipublish with you, you you
guarantee I make my money back.
What people?
Yeah, it's time to wake up.
I titled this episode standingon business because we need to
start standing on business now.
Let's get to the money.
Part of this because I want totell y'all stop being, stop
(20:54):
saying, first of all, stopcalling yourself a small
business, stop saying that youare um, a million, you know
million dollar business.
I'm not saying it's nothingwrong with saying that, okay,
but some of y'all get so caughtup in saying it and and and um
standing on it and and I'm, I'mclaiming this and claiming that,
and then you come out of churchand you're just claiming
(21:14):
everything right and you gethome and you don't change
nothing, nothing.
That book that you started onfive years ago, still sitting
there, you ain't touched it.
Okay, the business that yousaid you want to launch, you
haven't even clicked on Googleor ChadGBT or anything to do no
research on how to get itstarted.
You listening to folks that youthink got the answers and they
(21:37):
don't even know what theytalking about.
Ask me how I know all this, because I've been through all of
this and I don't like for us tohold ourselves back because we
refuse to do the work ourselves,we refuse to do the research.
Okay, so I might sound like I'mfussing.
I am fussing today.
Okay, so I want to talk abouthow you want to claim
(21:59):
millionaire status.
Six-figure, this six-figure,that coming right up out of
church, right, and you say Godgoing to do it, you got the
prophecy, all that, right, butthen you only want to take cash
out payments.
But then you only want to takecash out payments.
What do we?
What we doing, what we're doing?
You already called yourself asmall business, so let me tell
(22:21):
you something real businesses,real businesses.
Number one they don't set upLLCs.
Yes, I said it.
Real businesses don't set upLLCs.
Yes, I said it, real businessesdon't set up LLCs, and I'm not
knocking anyone that has an LLC,but what I'm telling you is
real businesses set upcorporations, boo, boo
(22:42):
Corporations, c-corps.
Yeah, I know your text persontold you that you couldn't, you
didn't qualify for that.
They lied to you.
They, they lied.
Start setting up corporations.
Okay, go do your research.
Compare, compare LLC to a CCorp.
Okay, look at the benefits froma corporation and an LLC that's
(23:04):
considered really a soleproprietor.
We ain't having a conversationtoday, but just write it down,
okay, you'll, you'll.
You'll thank me later, wheneveryou wake up on it.
You'll thank me.
Okay, I want to talk abouttaking these payments on cash
out.
Why are you not sending outinvoices?
Why?
Why you don't have a um paymentprocessor?
(23:27):
Why are we not using paymentprocessors?
But we six figure, we ready forthe million dollars, but we
can't even send an invoice to aclient.
Come on, people, come on, I'mfussing today.
Right, we want to get thesegrants.
They got grants posted all overthe internet.
(23:48):
We don't even have a missionstatement and a vision statement
and a who we are and what we dofor our business.
Right, if somebody asks you, onthe airplane, you got a
millionaire sitting next to you.
You don't even know it and theyask you what exactly do you do?
Because they just looking forsomebody else to invest in and
you cannot answer that in one,one sentence you're not ready.
(24:10):
You're not ready.
So we got some work to do.
We need to have our businessesthat we expecting to be able to
accept a million dollars.
How are you going to accept amillion dollars?
You can't accept that paymenton the cash out.
How are you going to take thepayment?
How are we taking payments likethat?
(24:32):
How are we taking big payments?
And we ain't prepared.
We're not set up as a realbusiness.
We have no business bankaccounts.
Okay, you went set up the LLC,got the EIN.
You don't have a bank account.
You only want people to Zillyou and take cash app, so you
can't send no invoices.
(24:53):
Okay, and so then what happens?
Because all this money youclaiming and all that when it
show up, are you ready for it?
I had a client say one day shehad published two books with me
and one of my favorites online.
He had published his firstcookbook.
(25:15):
He's from Chicago Dairy's Cooksand he had to have a post
office.
He had to come and pick up allthese pre-orders he had.
His garage was full of books.
They had three trucks at hishouse, and so my client says,
wow, I would love to get a haullike that.
You ain't ready for that wherethe book's gonna go.
(25:37):
You ain't ready for that.
You got to make space and allthat.
Start being ready for whatyou're claiming.
Okay, I'm tired of seeing usclaiming all this stuff but yet
we're not prepared.
We're not ready.
We do not have our ducks in arow.
We want funding for ourbusinesses.
Y'all loving all theadvertisement all over the
(25:57):
social media talking about get$150,000 for your LLC.
You ain't even got a bankaccount.
What are we doing?
You haven't established norelationship with a payment
processor.
Did you know you can get easyfunding with a payment processor
?
They will approve you based onyour invoices alone.
(26:21):
Ask me how I know.
Okay, this is real out here.
I want y'all to get it.
I want you to get to the money.
I want you to be successful andI want you to be able to live,
to tell about it Like it's it's.
We can't keep doing whateverybody else is doing and what
we were told this work and thatwork.
(26:43):
Go find out for yourself, dothe research yourself.
So I titled this standing onbusiness.
I think I accomplished my goaltoday.
I think I did Okay.
So let's get set up the rightway.
Make sure your business is setup the way it's set up.
Llc ain't for everybody Okay,it's not for everybody.
Make sure that that is theright one.
(27:04):
You should be set up as, becausewhen you go to file your taxes,
you should not be filing yourtaxes with your personal.
That's not how it go.
You should be filing your taxesby themselves.
Your taxes should have its owntax return.
But they got y'all doing theseLLCs with y'all personal on a
10-4.
Listen, baby, get around somepeople.
(27:28):
Get in some conversations.
When you scrolling on socialmedia, look for conversations.
That's giving you the realbusiness.
Go and look up everything thatI said today.
Okay, take notes and startremapping out.
Start remapping out your plan.
Okay, 2025 is we.
We all only got six months left.
(27:49):
Okay, take this stuff, apply itand get a real plan so you can
have some real results and realreturn.
