(00:00):
One of the big things that I saw from we'retalking about the Golf Channel's "Live From the
Ryder Cup" and how good that's been this weekso far.
But the one thing that stood out to me is thestadium seating.
They have built these massive stadium seatingsthat kinda rival like the Waste Management
(00:23):
Phoenix Open.
And I'm like, oh, wow.
Like this would actually be really cool to goout there, get a spot, and just post up for a
little while.
I don't know if it is all about like,
I wouldn't wanna walk around Bethpage.
Luke Donald and fuck Team Europe.
You look like you are U.S.
ready.
(00:44):
We had to help them win the fucking war.
Alright?
And now we're gonna beat the pants off themjust like we did when we dumped a bunch of tea
off the boat.
The good old Boston Tea Party.
I am a bleeding red, white, and blue American,so I don't care if the United States team was
deceased and showed up to play.
(01:04):
I'm going with the fucking U.S.
team.
USA.
USA.
Still believe in it, you know?
Still love this place.
So anything that we're involved in, especiallyif it's a fight, even if it's a golf fight, go
use it.
(01:26):
Welcome back, everybody, to Pull Hook Golf, thepodcast.
I'm your host, Matt Cook.
Tonight, we've got our co-host and tourinsider, Mister Brent Grant with us.
We've also got Buttsy joining us here in just alittle bit.
So looking forward to this episode because thisonly comes around once every two years.
It is the Ryder Cup, and this one is veryspecial.
(01:48):
The 2025 Ryder Cup show here on Pull Hook Golf, your favorite unfiltered golf podcast.
And before we get started here tonight, we dowant to shout out to our sponsors.
First off, Devereux Golf.
I'm rocking their collection, which they didfor the Ryder Cup.
(02:08):
I wore the yellow one two weeks ago and Irealized, oh, shoot.
This is Europe.
Little early.
Like, and I kinda like that one a little bitbetter.
I gotta be honest.
That's why I wore it first.
But this one is the U.S.
style.
You got the red Johnnie Walker.
You got the Devereux Golf skull over on theside.
Feeling fresh tonight.
(02:28):
Feeling very USA.
And by the way, this is raised over here, whichis pretty cool.
And then on the back, it says keep walking.
Love
it.
The Johnnie Walker style.
So, yeah, good shout out to Devereux Golf andJohnnie Walker, by the way.
Make sure to go get yourself some JohnnieWalker Blue for the Ryder Cup this week.
I feel like that would be nice on the rocks.
(02:50):
You know, we did that during Waste ManagementOpen week.
Oh, man.
If I was drinking right now, I tell you what, Iwould be having a couple of those glasses for
sure, but make sure folks drink responsiblyover the age of 21 or older.
Okay?
Also, Devereux Golf, you could utilize thepromo code, PullHookGolf20 at checkout for 20%
(03:12):
off your entire order over at devereuxgolf.com.
That's devereuxgolf.com.
And folks, they're gonna be coming out with afall collection too.
I was over there a couple weeks ago and I got asneak peek at the fall collection.
And I'm gonna tell you right now, I am jazzedbecause as Bert told me, you know, they made
(03:37):
some stuff that you know is still very muchDevereux Golf, but they also have some great,
like classic style golf wear that still hasthat Devereux spin to it, but much more in line
with, I feel like our audience as well as justmainstream golfers out there that are going to
(04:00):
country clubs and so forth.
So this fall collection is gonna be dynamite.
Make sure to check it out.
It should be dropping relatively soon.
I imagine it's gotta be dropping in Octobersometime.
Don't mark my words on that, but really lookingforward to it.
And it has my personal stamp of approvalbecause I really, really like the styles that
they're coming out with.
(04:21):
There were a few items that I'm like, oh, Igotta have that.
I gotta have that.
I gotta have that.
I gotta have that.
That usually happens at Devereux when I go inwhere I'm just like, I start saying that I want
everything and then I realize I'm like, that'sa little greedy.
I need to, you know, not take every singlething that they have in here.
So yeah.
Anyways, this fall collection's gonna be toughbecause very much my style, very much so the
(04:46):
color palette that I love.
And, yeah.
Anyways, PULLHOOKGOLF20 at checkout for 20% offyour entire order over at devereuxgolf.com.
Also want to, give you guys a promo code forrock form.
R O K F O R M.
I get asked all the time.
Brent showing off his phone case from rock formThat attaches directly to anything metal,
(05:10):
folks, not just MagSafe.
So the case itself has these very powerfulmagnets in it that you could attach to anything
metal.
I have their golf holster that attaches to agolf shaft that they provide you with.
Stick it in the ground.
You can use it while you're out on the golfcourse or at the driving range.
(05:30):
It is unreal though.
And I'll tell you the real secret around it isthat I do virtual sessions with Stark Health, a
group based out of California.
If you guys have followed the 5 a.m.
comeback journey at all, that's the group thatis behind all of the fitness and wellness,
nutrition, chiropractor, the so on and soforth.
(05:52):
Right?
I go into the gym and I've been asked probablythe last 12 times I've gone into the gym.
What is that?
Who makes that?
Because it's so discreet.
You don't have a tripod.
You're not looking obnoxious in the gym headingdown this big huge thing to all of a sudden
film yourself or in my case be on with mytrainer.
(06:16):
Oh, actually this past Monday a guy comes up tome and goes, what is that?
And I'm like, what do you mean?
What what what's what?
Like I'm in the middle of a workout and niceenough guy.
He's just like, he's like, take off yourheadphones.
I'm like, okay.
So I take off a headphone.
I'm in the middle of a session.
He's like, what is that?
And I'm like, that's a magnet holder for yourphone.
(06:38):
He's like, oh my gosh.
He goes, who makes that?
And I tell him, I'm like rockform.com.
At the time, and I feel really bad about thisnow, I should have just plugged the promo code
for him and been like, by the way, but he was, like, trying to memorize it because I'm, I'm,
like, spelling it for him like R-O-K Yeah.
F-O-R-M.
So a guy that had never been introduced to thebrand at all had no idea because when I go rock
(07:02):
form, he goes rock rock Raj form.
I'm like, no, not Raj form.
Rock form.
R o k f o r m.
And then I'm like, afterwards, I get back outwith my trainer and they're like, why didn't
you because all my trainers know about rockform because they've all asked me too.
They're like, what do you use?
And I have told them and I believe some of themhave certainly ordered because I've seen our,
(07:27):
our orders coming in, which is awesome.
But anyways, use the promo code PULLHOOK2025for 20% off over at rokform.com.
Phone cases, everything magnetic that you couldwant with tech.
And then the speaker, by the way, right here.
The G-Rok speaker.
I highly recommend this.
(07:48):
Brent, I know you got the fancier, bigger onethat they have.
But for me, this little guy
Square one?
It just is awesome because it attaches to thegolf cart.
Twenty-four-hour battery life.
So that's the big one to me because I'm like, Idon't want to have to charge this thing.
I feel like I've only charged it a couple timesand I use it all the time.
(08:10):
Whether we're at an ASU tailgate, whether we'reout camping, whether we're on the boat, all of
these different things we utilize the G-Rok byRokform.
So again, go out there, get yourself a 20% offfrom us.
And by the way, it also supports the podcast.
So, you know, knock out two birds with onestone.
(08:33):
I was trying to buy some time as well throughour promos this week.
A little bit longer, a little bit morelong-winded, to allow Buttsy some time to get
on here, but let's go ahead and get startedhere, Brent, because this is happening in my
former backyard of Bethpage Black.
And folks, if you haven't heard the stories, whatever, I would be losing matches to anybody
(08:58):
That's where I would go.
I'd go to Bethpage Black.
It fits my game nicely.
I tend to hit it further than a lot of people Iplay with.
You're one guy that hits it further than I do.
However, we'll say with working out and soforth, we'd love to get back out there with you
and just kind of see where it lines up becauseit's definitely going further.
That's for sure.
(09:19):
We're over three.
That's for sure.
And then we get some roll out of it too.
So I'm dialed in with the PXG driver anyways.
Bethpage Black, I love this golf course becausefor me, it's not the green complexes that are
super tricky.
Like the greens are relatively flat.
(09:40):
Right?
So I feel like it's not that bad when like,it's just it's not a bad golf course to putt
on.
You know what I mean?
Like, you're not any short game wise where Ialways struggled with chipping and pitching
around the greens and so forth, especially as Iwasn't playing all the time.
(10:01):
And I'll say this, like, it's relatively easyto get around there.
So outside of when they grow the grass reallylong, this week, the grass is trimmed.
Like, I heard that the rough is not very high.
The setup is going to be set up for a lot ofbirdies out there.
(10:22):
So if we're taking away the challenge behindit, who does this favor in this matchup?
Because it certainly doesn't seem like the U.S.
team.
Yeah.
Exactly.
I think it's obvious they definitely are ableto tailor the course how they want to.
I mean, heard that throughout the year, beforeeach Ryder Cup, captains and players are going
(10:48):
out there and saying, trim this and do this, and they kinda can do what they want and dial
it in.
Obviously, on weather, it could changedrastically.
But with the camaraderie, with the fact thatthere's some extra little fire going on, I
don't think the U.S.
team is going to be favored necessarily.
(11:14):
They're gonna be favored because they're"better" players as far as the rankings are
concerned, but they're not gonna be favored byan easier setup.
And I think it's a complete mistake to let anyof the European players be even remotely
comfortable.
(11:35):
I think they should have set it up like a U.S.
Open because it's the U.S.
Open, not the British Open.
So, they might have made a fatal mistake byletting it be a little bit too easy, but who
knows?
I mean, the fairways still look pretty tight.
So I can imagine it's gonna be easy to stop theball.
It's just that secondary or the, I guess youcould say, the first cut of rough is super low.
(11:59):
So, I mean, that's still gonna playchallenging, but I'm with you.
I felt like maybe a missed opportunity herewhere, yeah, they could have set it up like a
U.S.
Open.
And by the way, this time of year in New York,it is really, really good when it comes to
being able to grow thick, heavy grass outthere.
So, I was actually just about to bring onButtsy except he just jumped off.
(12:23):
So not quite sure what happened there.
I was gonna bring him on as I was letting youfinish out your part of the segment there
because we do have some media as well that Idid want everybody to take a look at because
it's part of this whole entire thing.
But let's talk about the stadium setup.
(12:46):
This was the one that kind of blew me awaybecause I've played there.
Like, they've kinda I wouldn't say rerouted thefirst tee, but it's a little bit different.
And they're making it to where it's drivablebecause, obviously, they want players,
especially U.S.
players, to take advantage of it.
(13:06):
I'm very curious to see what ends up happeningthere.
But the stadium setup is massive.
Have you seen the aerial view of this wholething?
I haven't seen aerial.
I've seen, obviously, guys standing in themiddle, and then I've seen kind of from each
side.
But I can assume it's probably like a smallfootball field.
(13:32):
It is—it's like a stadium.
Like, like a
kinda reminds me a little bit of WasteManagement Phoenix Open.
Oh, that's gonna be fun.
Like, it is massive.
That first tee stadium setup, which I thinkgoes to, like, you know, when we've talked
about with the fact that, like, the Ryder Cupmight not be the best fan experience because
(13:56):
your views and everything are not great.
I would just post up on that first tee box.
100%.
If I was going to the U.S.
Open or to the Ryder Cup, I would 100% find aseat there because you got the first tee and
then you kinda have the view of the 18th comingup as
well, which
is pretty sweet.
(14:17):
So I don't know, man.
This is like when I saw that, I'm like, wow, this is gonna be a crazy first tee box setup
and 18th hole setup.
Hopefully, there's some matches that get to the18th hole, and you can actually have that
experience coming down to the wire, coming downto the end.
(14:39):
So that'll be a very curious situation.
Can I ask you a
question?
Yeah.
In your experience at Bethpage Black, is therea time of year where it can get super spicy?
I mean, of course, there is.
But is it this time of year?
(15:01):
I always felt like heading into the fall, like, love playing there in October.
Like, I just felt like the course was inpristine condition at that time of year.
And you start getting the foliage too, like, don't wanna just talk about the beauty of it,
but the greens start getting firmer because itstarts getting colder at night.
So that's where I don't—I don't know enoughabout what the weather's been like lately in
(15:25):
New York to No.
Just the weather
or not.
Know it's kinda been a little bit on thewarmer—what's city?
It's in—it's Farmingdale?
No.
It's in Bethpage.
Bethpage, New York.
Farmingdale.
That's pretty
cool.
Well, it's gonna rain Wednesday, Thursday,Friday and maybe Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
(15:51):
But it does not get warm, so it's definitelygonna rain Thursday for sure, and it's probably
gonna be a thunderstorm tomorrow and then maybesome rain throughout the weekend.
So we will see.
We will see.
Maybe, maybe the heavens will open, maybe theywon't.
But I just I just I see this I see this issuebecause you know they're not playing the golf
(16:16):
course all the way back.
So they're they're they're playing it shorter.
They're playing it for birdies, and I'm sorry, but it just does not it does not bode well.
You have to set up long, tight, penalizing offthe tee, hard around the greens, yada yada
yada.
Make it American golf, because that's the onlyway that you have an advantage.
(16:41):
I'm with you.
I really am.
I think they could have done so much more withthe golf course.
But again, I'm going off of other people'sperspectives that are there right now that are
analyzing it.
The other one that I do wanna give a quicklittle because we've been very difficult on
(17:03):
golf broadcast throughout the years.
And like I've criticized with feedback and soforth as to, hey, this could be so much better.
The one group that actually does it really, really well for like pregame stuff or pre show
stuff other than us of course, but the entireGolf Channel crew that does that show It's on
(17:31):
like Johnson Wagner's phenomenal.
You know, Brandel's always talking shit.
So and he's just so jaded on so much that Idon't I just don't we're gonna get to him in a
second.
This this is a little bit of a segue of gettinginto that whole discussion around But, you
(17:55):
know, then you've got oh gosh.
What's the Irish guy's name?
Paul McGinley.
And then you've got the Rich Lerner.
Lerner.
Those guys are great.
And I feel like I've been watching that.
Like, watching, what is it?
Masters on the Range.
They do that one during the Masters live.
(18:17):
So live from the Ryder Cup.
Right?
That's what it I was blanking on the name ofit.
Didn't write it down.
But they're doing such a phenomenal job andthey've got all the shots and everything.
So I feel like if there is one that should geta shout-out, it's that particular show.
Totally agree.
100%.
And I enjoy watching it.
(18:38):
So that's one to where I'm getting someinformation from because I've been watching it
every day leading up to this on Monday and thentoday.
And I will say, just the way that they havestructured this golf course, I just feel like
we might be missing something.
(18:58):
Yeah.
No.
I think it's always that feeling.
It already exists now because the US team justalways has some sort of egotistical, prideful
air about them.
And, you know, the kind of homegrown, grassroots movement kind of group, it has never
(19:25):
existed on the American side.
I mean, not since the '90s can you say that itwas a group of guys that were just grinders,
veterans, yada yada yada.
Like, no.
That has been the European team for 25 years.
Yeah.
But you gotta remember, we used to dominate
Oh, yeah.
The Ryder Cup.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
Have so many more wins
(19:47):
Yeah.
Than the European side.
But then all of a sudden, it became to whereEurope, like, united.
Kind of weird to say, but they all cametogether and they became a team and they built
a culture.
And that's one of the things that I do want toshow right now.
Hopefully this comes through for everybody, butthis is the European, and this will actually I
(20:12):
think this is, like, two minutes long.
We may cut it short.
But this one is a clip done by Luke Donald, which I want to rave about Luke Donald and how
good of a captain this guy is because he getsit and he gets the details.
And you're gonna see in this video the details, and I'm gonna talk about some of the reasons
(20:36):
why I think we're in trouble.
I think the U.S.
is in trouble, and some of it has to do withthings like this.
Let's take a look.
Welcome to our team facility.
This has been custom made just for us.
Come with me, and I'll show you around.
It starts here with our four away wins.
This is our inspiration this week.
(20:57):
'87, '95, '04, 2012.
Like, they put that on
the wall?
This is our gym.
Like, that's so small.
Recovery area.
Never had one as big as this.
Look at the size.
I mean, the size of it's insane.
It's a really, really important room.
All the workouts they wanna do, all therecovery, ice baths, we even have a sauna down
(21:20):
there.
Some guys might be playing five times this weekthree days.
That's a lot.
So they need to be rested, recovered, and readyto go.
Our locker room, everything here is laid out.
Little inspirations, Excelsior.
It means ever upward.
It's the New York state motto.
(21:40):
Dude, I gotta pause it for a second.
They took the New York motto and added it totheir stuff.
Like, how smart is that?
Get it.
And then putting four dates on the wall asthey're walking through the hallway to where it
is the four away Ryder Cup wins.
(22:02):
Not just all the Ryder Cup wins that theEuropeans have had, but the four away ones to
remind them.
Just this stuff just is wild to me.
Also, every locker is player caddie, playercaddie.
We are one unit.
We are together.
And while they're getting their stuff ready, getting ready to go on the golf course, they
(22:24):
can look at their wall of history.
This is again an ode to all those times that wehave won away.
Down here we have some quiet rooms.
A couple of
They got bedrooms in there.
Bedrooms.
This
is a busy week.
There's a lot going on.
(22:44):
Four beds.
This is our team dining area and our loungearea.
It's family oriented.
We thought about all the little details to makethese guys be able to perform at their highest.
But now let's go to my very favorite room, thedressing room.
(23:08):
This is our inspiration again.
Our four shirts from our four away wins.
This is a really important room for us.
We will gather here, swap ideas, and be veryfocused about what we want to achieve this
week.
And each player above their locker says, ourtime, our place.
(23:31):
That is our motivation.
That is our theme.
And the last inspiration that they will seebefore they head out to the range, out to the
golf course is this.
This is your time.
This is your place.
It's their time to make history in New York, and we'll be ready.
(23:53):
I tell you what.
This is one of the things where you sit thereand you look at, yeah, you know the music and
that's cool and, you know, it was pretty wellscripted and whatnot.
But this is what people need to understand whythe U.S.
team continues to just not get it, is that thisis a team event.
The better you play does not make, like, that'sgreat.
(24:16):
You can play all you want by yourself and bethe best player that's ever lived.
But if you do not play well as a team, you willnot win.
And that is universally true.
It's so beautiful.
But I would love to see if there if it exists.
I don't know if Keegan's the type of guy dothat.
(24:36):
I love Keegan to death, but he is definitelysocially awkward.
I know he's fiery, so maybe it'll get a littlebit jumpy during, you know, when it comes game
time, since he's not playing.
But that entire European team would go and puttheir hearts on the line for that guy.
And I don't believe there's a single person onthe U.S.
(25:01):
team that could say that they would do that forKeegan.
The details are what get me on that wholething.
And I'm like, I just could not wrap my headaround the fact that every little detail was
covered and the motivation, the little detailsof motivation, those matter.
(25:26):
Like, those are the things that are the 1%differences that make that change and they're
in a hostile environment.
But to make it that detailed, thatmotivational, that comfortable because that
looks like a place that I would wanna hang outlike during the week.
(25:47):
Austin Whittington says a lot of thought wasput into that European team headquarters.
It really was.
And so, yes, Keegan Bradley, fiery, like yousaid.
Very motivational.
Like, I heard something, they had his voiceover on something on a clip.
I did not grab that one because it was just, itwas a motivational clip.
(26:07):
Like that's where Keegan Bradley is gonna comeinto play.
The fan base is going to come and play as wellfor the U.S.
team.
The New Yorkers need to be huge this week.
I know why they did the pricing of the ticketsthe way that they did.
And there is a fear that you're gonna get abunch of hecklers out there that are out of
(26:29):
control.
And they've been asked about it and they havethought about it like it's at the top of the
mind for the PGA to make sure that security isin place, like they've got everything so it
doesn't get out of hand.
New Yorkers have a tendency that things can geta little bit out of hand, but they are great
(26:49):
fans at the end of the day.
Like, they know the line not to cross.
I don't think the pricing should've dictatedthat in my opinion.
But at the same time, it's like, we need theNew York crowd because that's the difference
maker.
That's the one that the Europeans will not haveout there.
(27:09):
Like, New York, we gotta show up.
That's in a big way.
So that's the thing, right?
It's like the assumptions that that the US teamare making, it just that's not a world that
that's not a world that I'm familiar with.
The assumptions are the things that that killyou in the end because you get them wrong.
Yeah.
What does he say?
Kyle over at Card Barn Guy says, that's whatfive Billys meant.
(27:33):
He's got $500 on Euro.
There you go.
And I don't blame him.
I mean, everything that I have seen and justlike, the gut instinct really has been around
the Europeans being this team that is going totake it this year and go into Bethpage, the
hostile territory, and beat the U.S.
(27:54):
Team.
Let's bring on Buttsy.
He finally has made it.
Before when he was trying to jump in, he saidhe was still in the car.
So he was trying to jump in from the car.
Let's see where he's at now.
Oh.
Mister Buttsy, he has joined the podcast.
Here we oh, no.
He's having issues.
Gonna get him one of those rock four.
(28:14):
He's got the Sugarloaf hat on.
Wow.
Looking sharp, buddy.
Looking sharp.
Hey, guys.
Sorry I'm late.
Oh, good.
We've been getting into all of this Ryder Cupstuff.
We just watched a video that Luke Donald tookthe European Ryder Cup video staff through
(28:41):
their headquarters that they've built atBethpage Black.
And it is phenomenal.
There was not a detail that was missed.
He even put Excelsior, which is the New Yorkstate motto, on their golf bags and on their
different pieces to wear motivation in thehallways of the headquarters, but see, he put
(29:02):
the four years that they won Ryder Cups awayfrom home.
I'm like, dude, this guy did not miss a singledetail of motivation for his team.
Luke Donald and team Europe.
You look like you are U.S.
ready.
(29:23):
We had to help him win the war, alright?
And now, we're gonna beat the pants off himjust like we did when we dumped a bunch of tea
off the boat.
The good old Boston Tea Party.
Is that a reference to that?
Could be.
Okay.
Pretty solid history buff, Mister Buttsy.
Absolutely.
Let's talk a little bit about—we talked aboutthe stadium setup.
(29:49):
We talked about the New York fans.
New York fans are probably gonna be the bigdifference maker this week.
They were very afraid, the PGA, in regards togetting too rowdy of fans out there, which New
Yorkers tend to be at times.
But I feel like there's a line that New Yorkersdon't necessarily cross.
Like, they're pretty smart sports fans at theend of the day.
(30:10):
But there was some fear with that.
And I wonder, do you believe that the ticketprices being so high were, like, one of the
reasons was to not allow it to become toorowdy?
You're thinking it would just bring a differentdemographic, like people that have money are
more calm, so to speak, or know how to act moreproper, maybe?
(30:34):
I don't know.
Maybe if it wasn't the U.S.
versus Team Europe, I think that may be thedeal breaker, the offsetter, where everybody in
the crowd could be multimillionaires, andthey're still gonna be very loud and make sure
they get in everybody's head.
I like that.
I like it.
Yeah.
What would you do?
(30:56):
Listen, I would just allow them to come on in.
Let's make it as rowdy as we possibly can.
Obviously, there's lines that you don't want tobe crossed, but you do wanna get under the
Europeans' skin.
Yeah.
And I think that would be great for Team USA.
And again, that sixth man, so to speak, the fanbase in New York for Team USA, it's gonna be
(31:20):
rowdy.
It's gonna be great.
And let me show you a little clip here that Icame across that the rowdiness is starting.
Well, let's just put it that way as we take alook at this one.
(31:48):
There was no rowdiness like there outside ofthe USA chant, and I mean, it's just good old
fun there in New York in Bethpage.
So
don't know.
Razzed for blading a wedge, and that's the typeof shit that should happen for sure.
You should definitely get razzed for that.
Yeah.
I mean, there's every away event you go to,you're gonna get you're gonna get crapped for
(32:13):
hitting.
I mean, shoot, even if you in every sport.
Yeah.
I mean, it's no different.
An air ball in basketball.
I
A
skull and I I think what's going to beinteresting about the dynamic, and I'll make
this call now, I think there's going to besomething said about the PGA of America
post-Ryder Cup, but we could talk about thatnext week.
But, I think it's just I think honestly, theticket price was something that they settled on
(32:37):
because they just legitimately didn't wanteverybody to come in.
Because if everybody does come in, it's lesspeople it's more people that they'd have to
control, and they just don't wanna have to dealwith that, especially with all the safety
concerns over the last couple of years and theneverything that's happening politically as
well.
I mean, there's probably gonna be more cops atBethpage than there are in the entire freaking
(33:00):
city.
So, it's gonna be pretty crazy.
I'm looking forward to it.
I've been asked a lot, are you going back forit?
I'm like, absolutely not.
No.
No chance.
I'm gonna watch this on TV, and I'm gonna lovewatching it on TV.
Well, I know our boys over at Devro are headedout there in the morning.
Oh yeah.
That they are.
(33:20):
Luck walks.
They're not gonna have a bad time.
No.
They'll be fine.
They'll be up in the stands.
They're gonna have a great time out there.
like I would love to be there.
It would be something I would enjoy.
One of the big things that I saw from we weretalking about the Golf Channel's live from the
(33:41):
Ryder Cup and how good that's been this week sofar.
But the one thing that stood out to me is thestadium seating.
They have built these massive stadium seatingsthat kinda rival like the Waste Management
Phoenix Open.
And I'm like, oh, wow.
Like, this would actually be really cool to goout there, get a spot, and just post up for a
(34:05):
little while.
I don't know if it is all about like I wouldn'twant to walk around Bethpage.
Bethpage is a long place to walk around.
7,400 yards.
You're going uphill, downhill.
Like there's a lot of that going on.
I've walked it.
Gosh.
I think I've walked it every time.
If I'm not mistaken.
(34:25):
I don't think I've ever taken no, I've taken acart a few times.
I lied.
So but it is a hilly course that I don't, as afan, I don't think I would wanna kinda try to
walk every single hole.
I'd definitely just be sitting up in thestands.
But the stands look pretty
Find a comfy zone to spectate from for a coupleof hours.
(34:46):
Exactly.
I probably have a plan.
Yeah.
I mean, maybe, you know, we're gonna start overhere for the day and then after lunch, make our
way, grab some food and then go over here, youknow, close it out.
There you go.
The next part that I wanna get into is actuallya nice little clip that Arnold Schwarzenegger
sent over to us.
So let's go ahead and take a look at that.
(35:08):
Go Team USA.
Fucking Ryder Cup, baby.
Fuck you, Brandel.
The boxer gonna love this one.
Look at that.
Fuck you.
336 fucking yards of bots, Brandel.
What do you think about that?
Suck on this one.
So I mean, incredible stuff from Arnold just, you know, commenting and we do need to talk
(35:30):
about Brandel Chamblee's comments on BrysonDeChambeau.
Oh, gosh.
Because these were his exact words.
He didn't talk about playing on a team and howmuch that meant.
What he did do was talk about his YouTubechannel, which if we want to talk about the
numbers that are generated from that, it'spretty dubious.
(35:50):
I have no doubt that bots are generating a lotof those views.
There may be some interest as well, but that'swhat he wants to talk about.
Not the team, not the Ryder Cup.
So let's get you just heard ArnoldSchwarzenegger talk about Bryson and what
Bryson was thinking about Brandel.
(36:12):
What do you guys think?
Which side of the fence are you on with theBrandel Chamblee versus Bryson on that?
This sounds like something that somebody thatworks in politics has written for them to say,
like, this is gonna be perfect.
This is about the most riled up thing that Icould possibly invent.
(36:34):
And if they did, if that's the truth, you know, call it Brandelgate if you want to, or Botgate.
We'll call it Botgate.
They did a great job because it's been on everyplatform.
You just were making videos about it.
It's working.
Whatever Brandel is saying is fucking working.
So that's where I'm at with it.
(36:55):
It almost sounds designed to me.
I don't know that Brandel would really say thathe fucking cares about Bryson DeChambeau's
bots.
I don't even think Brandel knows what bots are.
What a bot is.
Yeah.
I think that's the big miss by everybody that'skinda picking a side in all of this.
It was media-driven.
It was meant to be taken as a hot take snippet, and then everybody's gonna chime about it.
(37:19):
But I have seen where just everybody's shittingon Brandel for this one.
Everybody's just like, dude, you clearly don'tunderstand that, like, Bryson is popular on
YouTube.
Like, that's not just bot-generated interest.
Yeah.
Just because he doesn't watch it.
Yeah.
That's why somebody fucking put that in frontof him and he read it.
(37:39):
I don't know.
That's what do
you think, buddy?
You're sitting there in shock.
Yeah.
I mean, I've listened to him talk.
I've listened to Brandel talk in person.
I've talked to him a few times.
He definitely loves some from some BrandelChamblee.
But, you know, the question you have to askyourself is, is what he's saying even remotely
(38:03):
true?
Did Bryson DeChambeau really not mentionanything about being on the team?
Like, in all of his talks while he's doingthis, is it really like he's been completely
devoid of any team talk?
And if it's not as much as Brandel thinks itis, then it just wouldn't matter even if it was
(38:25):
close.
He's just gonna be like, oh, well, he's a LIVplayer, and he took blood money, and he's just
a moral POS, and like, here's the stats on howgood.
Like, I don't care.
Like, be more of a pompous douchebag, please.
Well, I will say, as I dipped my toe for thevery first time ever into a post that was
(38:51):
apparently, because you can't have just like aneutral opinion on something and be logical
about it and have common sense, that you'reeither one side or another.
Well, Brandel very much so plays it likepolitics to where like he's delusional on this
one.
Like, that isn't even a take that makes sense.
(39:14):
Like, everybody's against him on it and it'sjust like, what the hell are you trying to do
other than just you get additional clicks andsocial media coverage and views?
Like, it's absolutely ridiculous and it'sdelusional.
Gonna find out
everybody up.
Yeah.
He's gonna find out what bots are becausethey're about to come for him.
It's like politics, man.
(39:36):
It is like politics.
And golf has become—I didn't realize howdelusional.
I thought it was just in golf.
But apparently, like, this is a common themeacross different things that I didn't realize
golf was as political as it is.
But clearly, over time, we've realized that itis.
(39:57):
Oh, yeah.
Yes.
I mean, it's why it's like a perfect case studyto look at Xander and Scottie last year and
notice that they never talked about any of thechanges.
And yet Rory, Cantlay, Spieth, Thomas, all ofthese great players were playing like crap.
And Scottie and Xander pretty much walked awaywith anything because they don't give a damn.
(40:18):
And it's like, focus on golf, play great golf, you make more money, that's great.
You focus on politics, you don't play golf aswell, and your life is miserable.
I mean, it's just terrible stuff.
Buttsy, you look like you got something to say.
Oh, I was just commenting on Brent's handsignals because he goes.
(40:45):
Here's Brandel's other comments on Bryson, which goes even further.
Right?
It's and this is on him being a teammate.
It's one of the reasons why I think he's goingto be such a difficult person to get paired
with.
No doubt, he's one hell of a golfer.
No doubt, he has his moments and generositywith fans.
I've heard about it.
But he's an odd duck when it comes to trying toblend in with the team and he has so many
(41:11):
potential bulletin board mistakes and I thinkhe would be a captain's nightmare.
I don't know.
I don't
know, man.
Don't know if that's played pretty
well at Whistling Straits.
I think he's a great Ryder Cup teammate.
It's phenomenal.
Once again, this kinda goes to the delusionalside to where it's like he's in LIV Golf.
(41:35):
Yeah.
And that's it.
And he's bad.
Like no matter what you're gonna label himbecause he's a LIV Golf guy.
I don't think the team has a problem withBryson DeChambeau.
I haven't heard a single person talk negativelyabout Bryson DeChambeau.
And guess who he's got him paired up with, orKeegan Bradley's got him paired up with?
(41:55):
Justin Thomas.
Justin Thomas.
Yeah.
Like, that's a perfect pairing.
Like, JT doesn't have Jordan Spieth.
He doesn't have, you know, Rickie Fowler.
So it's like, yeah, pair them up with Bryson.
Those two guys have huge egos.
It doesn't matter.
Like, pair them up together.
They're not gonna, like
They're gonna be they're gonna fucking fueleach other's fire,
(42:16):
dude.
Exactly.
Yeah.
This whole this whole conversation about, youknow, what's the U.S.
team really gonna do about this XYZ?
I I just love the fact that there really hasn'tbeen much talk from the guys.
Like, I remember, I think it was I think it wasParis, you know, there or Italy where they were
talking about the hats.
(42:36):
Rome.
Yeah.
Was Italy.
So so it was Rome.
They were talking about the hats and all thisissue with with the Netflix thing, and it just,
like, there's, like, everybody's kinda justclosed ranks, and it's been it's been beautiful
to see just a one one solid mind coming fromthe captaincy, which is great.
(42:57):
I mean, if if you go to you go back to Rome twoyears ago, Patrick Cantlay was all the talk and
and all the controversy about not wearing ahat.
So, like, why isn't that part of theconversation coming into this year?
Don't hear a word about Patty Ice because theteam likes him.
Team doesn't have a problem with him.
Same thing with Bryson.
(43:18):
Yeah.
Exactly.
So, I mean, I don't get it from Brandel otherthan obviously playing it like politics to
where he's bad.
I'm good.
This is what it is.
And this is the only way to view it.
So it's just unfortunately for Brandel, he's onthe wrong side on these.
(43:38):
He loves and I think he loves that.
Oh, yeah.
He absolutely does.
I think we all agree he loves that.
He loves being the guy that says thecontroversial thing.
I mean, always has.
You know, when Tiger was going through histhing and even into the 2018, 2019 season, he
was talking a bunch of mess and Tiger talkedmess.
(44:00):
Wrong and then he talks crap about Scottie andScottie proves him wrong.
It's just this Brandel loves being the guy.
Exactly.
Thank you, Trot.
Brandel is lighting the fire and unfortunatelyfor Brandel at this day and age, he's getting a
little bit long in the tooth and I thinkeverybody's getting a little bit over how he
(44:20):
is.
You look dumb.
Exactly.
I can't stop staring at that Sugarloaf hat fromDevRo.
That visor Buttsy.
That thing is great.
It's very American.
Very American.
I love it.
That's awesome.
I like the script on it.
It's pretty solid.
Very solid.
Thanks, dude.
(44:41):
The other side to this is that, you know, whatPatrick Cantlay was complaining about, and it
kinda got tucked away very quickly after thereport came out about him not wearing a hat
because he wasn't being paid.
The U.S.
team got paid this year.
So, they're getting paid about the same amount, which I do not know what that is, that they're
(45:03):
getting paid for the Presidents Cup.
So do you guys think this is a good thing, badthing, or indifferent in regards to these guys
getting paid?
Europe, the players decided they didn't want tobe paid.
They wanted to do this without being paid.
So that's enough right there.
Right?
Like, it's for honor, and that's how they'llkind of probably frame that for honor and
(45:24):
country, and it's not about the money.
I mean, I don't know.
It could be for honor and country and all that, and if you wanna throw me a few bucks too,
great, like, for the effort.
I mean, I don't know.
That wouldn't bother me.
You don't think it changes anything?
Not to a person like me.
Now, that's how I think.
Don't know if 90 percent of the rest of theworld shares that viewpoint.
(45:49):
Probably not, but it doesn't bother me.
Brent, what about you?
I mean, as a professional golfer, having anhonor of going and playing in the Ryder Cup
I mean, they need the money.
They need
Do you think that they need to put food on thetable for their families by playing in the
(46:09):
Ryder Cup?
It just shows.
It just shows exactly.
I mean, all of the satire and the facetiousnessaside, like, the sarcasm that you could throw
at this because it's just ridiculous that theseguys are still talking about how much they're
getting paid.
Just shows you that this whole idea of puttingon the stars and stripes to them, to this group
(46:35):
of players, they don't care.
And to me, personally, and it's totally, youknow, I'll own it as my own personal bias.
My family has fought and bled for this country.
If I was given the honor to put on the starsand stripes, I would pay to do it.
You, I've, shoot, I'd play the whole Europeanteam by myself if I was wearing the American
(46:55):
flag.
I
don't I don't think that'd work out well foryou.
But the point is, like, is like
You'd show up in a Higgins boat.
Like, literally.
Like, it's just like, I don't care.
And it's, it's this, the whole idea is likekinda what I was saying earlier.
It was like, the guys in the '90s and early2000s, those were just a bunch of just crusty,
salty veterans that just loved the idea ofbeating the living crap out of the European
(47:17):
team.
The American team now is a bunch of playboysthat just want to get out there and want to be
shown so it grows their brand and show how coolthey are.
But oh, it's the star of
the stripe.
Scottie Scheffler is a playboy that wants toshow off his brand?
I think if Scottie Scheffler, I think ifScottie Scheffler takes the check, I think
he's, I think he's dishonoring the stars andstripes.
(47:38):
Yeah.
I do.
Oh, you okay.
So you're saying if you find it dishonorable totake the money offered?
100%.
So I'm also waiting too.
You might have missed it a few minutes ago.
He said it was $200K, and he heard that PattyIce donated
Hope he did.
All to charity.
I hope he did.
Listen, I'm not against them getting paid, butit definitely leads to a narrative that the
(48:01):
Europeans turned it down.
And once again, these little edges that theEuropean team gets
Thank you.
Even little narratives like this, they play.
And guess what?
There might be a sly comment that comes out inthe middle of a match that kinda sets somebody
off.
(48:22):
You know?
There's like these little digs that can happenand who knows what ends up coming from this.
But I will say this, Luke Donald witheverything they did, all the details that they
did for that European headquarters, then youeven have narratives like this.
Everything is pointing towards the Europeanteam this year and that's gotta just absolutely
(48:46):
bug three Americans on this show that arehaving to talk about how well the Europeans are
doing it right now.
They should just pool all their money that theyget from it and use it to get the Statue of
Liberty cleaned, you
know?
Yes.
Maybe something like that.
Just donate it to the city.
Just donate it.
I mean, or like,
(49:08):
show up with a statue painted red, white andblue of Rory McIlroy crying but have it just be
$300.
Not like a real one.
Like a real one.
That'd be genius.
Yeah.
Like, at the course.
That's the thing.
Right?
I mean, like, you look at how all this ends upbreaking down, and you're just like, oh, okay.
So the Americans are whining about how muchthey're getting paid again.
(49:30):
And you're like, oh, they donated it tocharity.
That's great.
Like,
know what they should have donated it to?
To the beers.
Andrew brings up here on YouTube that, howabout those beer prices laugh out loud?
Let's donate some of that money and get theseguys loaded up early in the day.
That's smart.
Yeah.
I mean, shoot.
That would be bet and talk about the storyline.
(49:52):
All of a sudden, the narrative shifts.
USA team just donated all their money to beerfor all the patrons.
So what do you guys think about because I thinkit was Rory that said that this narrative may
turn some of the New York crowd against him.
This idea that they, you know, that they tookthe money and that they you know, I mean, the
New York crowd doesn't I mean, if you go in awrong direction, it's not like they stay super
(50:16):
happy with you all the time.
Like, if you piss them off, even just the TheNew
Yorkers are loyal though.
They're they're not they are not going for theEuropean team.
Quick to boo.
Well, boo, for sure.
Let's just play this out.
Let's just say we're on the fourth tee box andthere's a huge crowd and all the New Yorkers
are there.
I just don't think that these guys are gonna belike, fuck this team, they took the money.
(50:40):
There might be some New Yorkers that say
gonna root for the I'm leaving.
I'm gonna sell my tickets.
These guys took the money.
I'm fucking leaving.
Like, they don't give a fuck.
You gotta think about what the internationalpresence in New York though.
It's not like, I mean
They can't afford the tickets.
That's what the Americans can't afford thetickets.
The international people can't.
(51:00):
That's the thing.
Oh, shit, dude.
Might be right.
I wonder how big of a crowd will be theresupporting Europe.
I'm just saying we're gonna
find out.
It's because
I mean, New York City is a melting pot ofinternational people.
The assumption that the whole New York crowd, you might be right back.
You might be, because it's the United States, and you got all these flag burners now, like,
(51:23):
might have a bunch of Americans out there thatare just rooting for Europe out of spite.
God, let's hope not.
I hope we don't
see it.
We're not gonna.
I think we will.
Like, still a holy grail there, so I don'tthink we'll see that.
But, goddamn.
Can you imagine the amount of fights going on?
Somebody's
(51:44):
Right outside
there's a good one.
Will there be a fight?
Absolutely.
In New York?
Absolutely.
It's a good question.
Will there be a fight on the grounds?
Over under three.
Three fights?
Okay.
You might?
Oh, shit.
(52:05):
That's a three.
I'll say one.
No.
I'm going, I'm saying over under.
I mean, if you go one, you're under.
You're on the under.
Yeah.
That's the Vegas odds.
Vegas odds are
That's what Vegas said.
They literally put that out.
It has to be a reported fight too.
Otherwise, it didn't happen.
So
Yeah.
I think you guys are I think you guys are rightabout the about the idea that if you if they
(52:27):
were to put that money towards a good cause, itwould it would swing some maybe some fence
sitters and maybe they'd they'd swing red, white, and blue.
But, I just don't I just there's too manyassumptions that the American team makes every
single time we're home.
And it's just like Medinah was like, oh mygosh.
We're gonna kill them.
And then they just absolutely roasted our assthat year.
(52:52):
The fight Chop brings up a good point.
Will the fight include Rory McIlroy?
That's what I'm saying.
LaCava steps across the freaking
Somebody says something a little weird abouthim, Balcon.
I'll tell you that, actually.
So don't miss that one like you missed thefour-footer to lose that tournament, you
(53:12):
schmuck.
Somebody's gonna say some shit
like that.
LaCava's a Buffalo
native.
That's good banter.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
It's perfect.
So LaCava's a New York
LaCava's not the guy that you wanna mess with.
No.
LaCava's a huge dude.
Yeah.
He's and he's a he's
a He's a big guy.
Right?
He's like,
six some
six four?
No.
He's not that tall, but he's a big dude.
(53:35):
I mean, you're a big guy, Buttsy, but I mean,it's not
who we got this week, guys?
Who we got?
So let's wrap this up with our picks for theweek.
And, Buttsy, I'm gonna start with you.
Scottie, you
got Team USA or you got Europe?
I am a a bleeding red, white, and blueAmerican, so I don't care if the United States
(53:57):
team was deceased and showed up to play.
I'm going with the fucking US team.
USA.
USA.
USA.
Still believe in it, you know?
Still love this place.
So anything that we're involved in, if it's afight, even if it's a golf fight, go USA.
What's the soccer chant?
(54:18):
I believe.
I believe that we will win.
Correct.
One team, one something like that.
Correct.
One
team It's USA though.
So I don't watch soccer either.
Oh.
However, when the USA Come on.
When team USA is on, I'm I'm watching.
You want to get going?
Watch some of that stuff from a World Cup.
I've heard it's awesome.
It's great stuff.
(54:39):
Yeah.
I've heard there's a reason it's huge.
People love soccer.
Yeah.
It's awesome.
So, Brent, who you got this from?
Oh, boy.
Well, the logical correct answer for me wouldbe to go that the European team comes out and
wins by four points.
But
By four points.
But what
do you think about five Billys?
But no.
(55:01):
Red, white, and blue, baby, all the way.
I love how we
talked up Europe this entire podcast.
So far we got two for the US, zero for theEuropean team, and I'm gonna make it the
trifecta because I have to go Team USA.
I love everything that Europe's done.
(55:23):
And I think the USA needs to learn a lot, especially when they go international in two
years
agreed
and they go overseas.
They need to take Luke Donald's playbook andjust utilize it for the US team.
But I'm going USA.
I think it's going to be very close.
I think it's going to be a one-point differencein the victory.
(55:46):
So I think it's going to come down to thosefinal matches and hopefully Scottie Scheffler
is in that final match.
That's all I'm
gonna say.
Think Trump flies a B-2 over the course though.
100%.
Yes.
Friday.
A few of them actually.
So he's going Friday.
So Scottie Scheffler was talking about how hewill, so Trump told him that he will be there
(56:07):
Friday, on the grounds to talk to Team USA.
And I love that we're seeing a president thatloves sports 100%, and is showing up to
Yeah.
all of the sporting events, which is prettycool.
Yes.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Especially this is a big one.
This goes back a long ways.
Yeah.
Gotta be there.
(56:27):
And actually, I mean, I should say thatprevious presidents have done it as well, if
I'm not mistaken.
Yeah.
But I mean, it's a little bit different whenyou have DJT there.
I mean, the guy is gonna bring just theabsolute heat with him.
I mean, do we see a bomber?
Do we see
a bomber?
100%.
I can tell you they will fly, probably a coupleC-130s.
(56:49):
They're gonna fly a couple F-35s and they willfly a B-2 bomber.
100%.
We'll end it with this.
Over/under number of gallery ropes toclothesline Bryson if he loses his matches.
That's from Andrew P.
Four.
Four.
Exactly four.
I'm gonna go I'm gonna go a half.
(57:11):
Half?
You're gonna go two ropes?
I might just catch them like on the forehead.
We don't know.
Not a full clothesline.
Wear a T-shirt out there with a rope on it and
Just one rope and one stake, two stakes.
That'd be awesome.
Never forget.
Yeah.
