(00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman and as your wise man I'm here to

(00:05):
bestow upon you the wisdom that you're listening to PUNKSTALK WRESTLING.
Welcome to PUNKSTALK WRESTLING! On this episode we talk about this week's
Monday Night RAW, their upcoming move to Netflix, episode 56 of Smokey Mount

(00:30):
Wrestling, you better watch it while you can, and all that's happened on the
massively successful return of Saturday Night's main event. I am RW Hellborn, the
PA Rock Prince hailing quote-unquote from Philly and I am one half of the
crowd, which is one half of your PUNKSTALK WRESTLING inter-universal

(00:57):
team podcast championos of the world. Now, then, and forever by my side,
3500 miles away in London, England, he is my tag team podcast partner, he is the

(01:21):
other half of the crowd, which is the other half of your PUNKSTALK WRESTLING
inter-universal tag team podcast championos of the world, Mr. Did You Know, Sir King of Reels, the proper prick, C.J. Newman!

(01:57):
It's good to be back, two weeks off, huh? Not two weeks, yeah it is two weeks, anyway,
Did You Know? Did You Know? Did You Know? That Saturday Night's Takeaway obviously

(02:22):
just returned, but it was at Saturday Night's Takeaway, oh my god I'm doing it
again! So, ignore that. Saturday Night's Takeaway. If you're a British you know exactly what I'm
talking about, you know why I keep making the snafu of calling it Saturday Night's
Takeaway. Did You Know that in 1988 on Saturday Night's main event featured the

(02:47):
first ever table spot in WWE history. No shit. Yeah. The fact that I've been trying to figure out when and where this
happened for such a long time, but I figured it out and I found it. The very first Saturday Night's main event, a match between

(03:08):
Harley Race and Hulk Hogan, not for the championship, and it was in that match
where Harley Race laid Hulk Hogan out onto the table and kind of did a weird
like axe-handled splash type situation, but Hulk Hogan moved and Harley Race

(03:30):
come crashing down onto the table, but this table was like weird like the
laminate wood slash metal. It wasn't a proper table. It did dent and it did bend
in the middle. Oh fuck. They didn't have the tables like they do now, but this caused Harley Race to get a
hernia and he was out for six months after this. Yeah I just looked this up.

(03:54):
It's on the Wikipedia page suffering a legitimate injury that would
eventually force him into retirement in 91. Yeah there he goes. Oh man. Yeah so
first ever table spot happened at Saturday Night's main event in 1988.
Well there you go. There you go. So to answer the question of did you know, no

(04:15):
you didn't. The answer is no. And neither did I until I did and now I do. So yeah.
And on that note, how's about we talk about Saturday Night's main event, not
takeaway.
Wikipedia. I'm on a page that is showing every single one of them. Yeah I don't think they

(04:43):
give it its own page. They don't. So that's fine. We've got enough details here.
That's alright. You know what, let's, before we get right into it, let's
prepare because I've got my generic black cherry seltzer. Black cherry. Black
cherry seltzer can. Very nice. Blam blam. Oh black cherry seltzer can. But I've got

(05:11):
a problem. But I've got another problem and maybe you can help me because listen
to this. Listen to this. You hear all that? Yeah. What's is that kind of nearly
empty? No. The problem is I have four different icebreakers ice cubes gums in

(05:34):
my possession. I've got. I can tell that by just the sound. Yeah. No no. I made
like four individual pops. Oh I see. Maybe it didn't come through quite
anyway. Anyway I've got four. I've gone overboard in my obsession with
icebreakers ice cubes gum. I don't think that's possible. So I'm gonna so I'm
gonna roll a d4. I was literally about to say well then then obviously you need to

(05:59):
roll for it. Yeah. Well I gotta go I gotta take my headphones off for a second
because I don't have my d4. I can't reach it with my. Oh wait maybe I can. I can. I
just can just reach it. Okay. All right. All my dice are on the if you know if we
ever do video you would see behind me all my all the wrestling and D&D is all

(06:23):
on the table behind me. Anyway all right I got a d4. So here's the flavors. Here's
what we've got. Here's what we're working with. We've got spearmint, winter green,
arctic grape and strawberry lemonade. Well I haven't heard of those last two. I know

(06:43):
yeah there's yeah they've got some they got some wild ones so I guess I'll just
I've put them in an order and I'll just roll the dice. Spearmint's gonna be one
wait I'll put them in alphabetical order how about that that'll make it that'll
arctic grape arctic grape spearmint strawberry lemonade winter green

(07:09):
fascinating this is this is this is you know this is compelling podcast
telling podcast material here for our listeners all right so that's one all
right that's one so we're starting we're starting off with arctic grape
I was hoping you'd get that one icebreakers ice cubes I have I have I

(07:32):
have I have tried each and every one of these flavors already it tastes like
great it does it tastes like it tastes like the if grapes grew in the Arctic
this is what I imagine and then and doused in mint yeah yep it looks pretty
good where does mint come from ink comes from like a leaves there's like mint

(07:55):
leaves yeah like a mint leaf yeah yeah there's a little point we have we have
mint we have mint growing in our backyard actually right around right
around behind the yeah behind the garage that's cool yeah yeah everyone's in
what and like the springtime summertime I'll go out I'll pull some and we'll
make like we'll make drinks with them that's damn that's cool yeah there's

(08:17):
nothing going up in my backyard apart from weeds not weed but no just weeds
with you know just crap just just just garbage yeah just go yeah absolute
absolutely gore but hash that garbage so first Saturday night's main events since

(08:38):
2008 as we just said we are from the Union Dale no from Union Dale New York
from the Nassau veterans Memorial Coliseum from the Nassau Coliseum
obviously the Nassau Coliseum is wildly famous for professional wrestling yeah
and in fact it was the first ever venue for for Saturday night's main event yes

(09:06):
it was yeah let me actually just real quick like there's so many famous to the
2002 SummerSlam actually I think we did a review review of us held at the Nassau
Coliseum great mission back great American bash 2008 2010 fatal four-way
the renovated Coliseum hosted the first episode of raw in October 2018 like

(09:34):
there's just loads of loads and loads of history and the Nassau Coliseum also
hosted the opening leg of WrestleMania 2 as well from the Nassau Coliseum so I'm
just reading something here sorry this is thrilling I know Nassau Coliseum was

(09:59):
the only tri-state area venue that the southern base WCW was allowed allowed to
hold events weird interesting interesting so yeah so Nassau Coliseum
gotta love it to an attendance of 14,186 people yes there was I'm I'm looking up

(10:24):
you know because unfortunately because Wikipedia does not have a full list of
our on-screen personnel I can't run down our normal on-screen personnel list but
I do know the referees which are what which is most important and we know
well we know we opened the show with Jesse Ventura and we know he did

(10:45):
commentary for the main event yeah I didn't think he did too bad of a job
either actually no I gotta be honest I was expecting a lot fucking worse I'm
glad he didn't fall into any you know any old stereotypical yeah didn't know
lines yeah you know that that's that's what I was where I didn't I certainly

(11:05):
didn't want to hear any you know yeah the only the only awkward moment came
from when Pat McAfee was talking about his snakeskin jacket and he was saying
it was Damien which oh that was fine that's fine but then he like kept saying
it over and over he was having a senior moment and it was yeah he wanted to make

(11:27):
sure that you heard it we understood we got it you got you got the joke and we
got yeah yeah no I thought it was the other than that like you know I think it
was a good idea to have him be a heel and commentary that sure so well known
for sure so I think to have him just go out there and be a heel it just came
naturally to him and he had his agenda like he was well rehearsed in like the

(11:49):
storyline of between Kevin and Cody so it felt natural everything he was
talking about made sense and it didn't feel like he was like I don't know he
did a good job of making it feel like he knew what was going on when in the past
we've had people come on to commentary and it's just like you clearly don't
even know what's happening around yeah yeah that was that that was the main

(12:11):
thing that I was glad yeah that's the fear I had so I'm clearly knew what was
going on yeah it was the current product and he clearly hates Cody Rhodes yeah
that's evident even though he apparently he never faced his dad ever no no yeah
so it's kind of weird I know he hates him just for no reason you don't yeah
heels don't need a reason to hate faces they just know just you definitely

(12:35):
heels from the 80s that's yeah so we yeah we had Pat McAfee on on a commentary
with Michael yeah that was so good I mean that was great I saw I forget who
was man it's not it was on threads all you know I can't shout him out because I
can't remember but somebody mentioned somebody mentioned how Pat McAfee as an

(12:59):
NFL announcer is just you know insufferably over the top but for WWE
it's just absolutely perfect and I'm like yeah yeah that's why that's why he's
here we also had so I can I can still run it down the referees the most
important most important ones Dan Danilo and fibio was referee for same same

(13:22):
versus Drew McIntyre and abyss was the producer of that match Charles
Robinson yeah I've got some I got some extra information here from from a 4-1-1
mania shout out to 4-1-1 mania for this Charles Robinson's referee for Liv
Morgan vs EO Sky with Petey Williams as the producer Eddie Urango referee
Damian Priest versus Gunter versus Finn Balor while the producers while the

(13:47):
producers producers were Jamie Noble and Adam Pierce Jessica Carr was the referee
for me chin vs Chelsea Green Shane Helms and TJ Wilson were the producers of that
match Charles Robinson returned as the referee for Cody Rhodes I don't know why
they say will read my seat returned his sake he's not been anywhere

(14:09):
Charles Robinson will return to be the referee their language is a little off
4-1-1 mania you might need you might want to like check with your editors here a
little bit oh maybe you mean because he was in the match then he got her and
then he did make the final call so oh okay I mean this could have been this
could have been information that was happening in real time yeah maybe yeah

(14:31):
Charlie so Charles are Charles Robinson returned for the rep to for the Coder
roads vs Kevin Owens and it was it was Michael Hayes and Bobby Rude who
produced that match Nick Aldis produced the dark match of
Motor City machine guns vs a town down under which I didn't know about until we
saw it on literally didn't know about that till I saw it right now so yeah

(14:54):
like I don't I am which I guess it would have I mean they they lost their title
that it's just they wasn't tag team match cuz it wasn't tag team title match
because they weren't the tag team champions right exactly yeah so that was
interesting I wonder yeah we had a DIY pull a bit of a ruse we thought that

(15:15):
they were gonna split up and that oh man Ciampa was being a heel and turning on
the Gugano it turns out they're both in on it the whole time and great way of
doing it Punk's Talk Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee what is what do I what do
I love when WWE does a thing and then does it again immediately they they did

(15:39):
I mean this is exactly the new day and DIY they pulled off the same essential
thing where one of them was we thought one of them was turning heel and was
going to turn on the other yeah that's right and instead both turned heel and

(16:00):
no one saw it coming and that's the best and that's the best thing about the best
thing about the DIY one was because we already had the new day heel turn so no
one was expecting it no one at all was expecting it and man I don't know I
don't know that we've seen I know we haven't even gotten it I mean we haven't

(16:20):
we're not even into the into Saturday's main event this is this is just
smackdown and everything before this but no one saw no one saw Johnny Gugano
heel turn no no way no way but no one saw a Kofi Kingston heel turn either
like no no never never would they I will I I will say this is a little tough it's

(16:44):
a little hard it's a little hard for me with the new day heel turn I I know them
they're marked the market for that is a little bit different because there's
just something about there's something about Kofi Kingston that doesn't make me

(17:05):
believe it believable that he's actually heel like yeah it doesn't he's never
really been given too much of an opportunity to be one obviously at the
start of the new day he was a heel but I guess we'll see where it goes I guess I
guess they were at the start of the new day they they were they were heel for
like a good year because they're obviously what everyone was chanting new
day sucks that's that's true yeah that is true I thought it was it well no let's

(17:29):
say that they introduced him as faces the crowd didn't like it they got new
day sucks chance so they just turned them heel then they were heel for about a
year until the crowd just come around to them were like came around it because
they just yeah because it just became because they went over the thing yeah
I you know I totally forgot about that I knew I thought the new I remember the
new day sucks because they just you know the they thought the whole gimmick and

(17:52):
everything yeah yeah so they just turned him heel so I don't know this is this is
a very different new day this is a very good it be a bit a bit of a mean
what's right it's not even the new day I guess it's not even the new day I don't
know what the fuck this is yeah they're not they're not calling themselves the
new day I think they're I think it's just Xavier Woods and Kovac Kingston but
either way it's there's something about it and I'm letting it play out because

(18:14):
yeah it's just it's the my problem my problem isn't with them turning heel
and it isn't even about their reasoning it is it's about their acting it's about
the script that they're like that they're that they're trying to convince
other people like I get I get the whole everyone's disappointed in them and they

(18:38):
can be disappointed in them and they like I feel like them trying to I feel
like them trying to explain themselves to other wrestlers doesn't make sense
like they shouldn't they just that's not logical they already have explained
theirself they've explained yeah they spoke to Big E that that was their

(18:58):
explanation I guess I guess so it's just kind of I don't know it but you're right
you're right in the sense that like there's nothing else to explain and
also I just I just just let them be just let them be arrogant let people be let
people be you know stop trying to stop trying to like stop trying to get
people to understand you or get people to side on your side yeah like that's

(19:24):
just well I tell you one person who is siding with them and I love it
completely is Karrion Kross I saw this thing recently and I really do think
that they've done this intentionally every single person every single
person that has had a rivalry with Karrion Kross has ended up going heel
literally go back to when he came back Drew McIntyre Shinsuke Nakamura like you

(19:50):
name like we're going all the way back to when he first came back they've all
turned heel isn't that isn't that fucking wild and even better like with
the with stuff with with the Miz Miz Miz turned here now Miz is trying to get out
and they won't let him out yeah like you know on raw like you've made a deal with
the devil like you can't escape that easily kind of thing I absolutely love

(20:14):
like Karrion Kross and his character I know it's just I love it it's one of my
favorites man I'm so happy just just stop doing the tick like he brought it
he left it alone and then one day he did another tick-tock like at the end of his
thing I'm like no you don't need that you don't need I'm you know I let you

(20:37):
know I yeah I agree I just think he's doing such a good good job right now he
is he's killing it he's killing it I'm so happy I'm happy that he they let him
grow his hair out I'm I'm glad that they're you know cuz that's what he
needed like that was you know you know when I when when I've said and I've and
I've said this you can check the you can check the transcripts you can go all the

(21:00):
way back to the comedians of wrestling podcast shout out comedians of wrestling
shout out to Supermark Nick Tullo the current the current reigning comedians
of wrestling champion yep I know he's listening but but yeah I've always been
I was I was such a fan of when they brought him up the first time and they

(21:24):
put a big mask on him and they took away they took away all the other stuff and
they forced him to be something different and I know everybody and I know
so many people hated it but that's but that's the pool I mean part of it's the
point you're supposed to be mad he's a heel you're supposed to not like him and
I know it was sort of like you know it was a it was a last it was a last ditch

(21:47):
of a Vince ish era of things but it wasn't a bad idea and it wouldn't have
been a bet like I say the same thing about the Dean Ambrose gas mask thing
yeah it was a great idea but the but the person doing it it would have worked if
the person doing it believed in it as well and gave it and gave it the

(22:12):
opportunity I mean look at the new day they took they took a shit they took a
gimmick that everybody hated a shitty gimmick and they turned it into a ten
year epic like amazing thing I you know you um yeah so I'm just glad I'm happy
to see kid because this is the Carrion Cross that I was hoping for was was a

(22:35):
more evolved and yeah it's a carrying cross that I knew that was there the
whole fucking time like yeah anytime I've ever seen him in an interview
outside of outside of TV I was like this is the guy I want on television
and now we've got him like obviously he's not this sadistic in real life
he's not threatening to break people's kneecaps if they don't do what he wants

(22:56):
but sure he's like it is him and he's like he's a really good actor I feel
like as well like he's a kind of character like think about it like we
have we never we don't really see carrying cross wrestle that much he gets
other people to do his dirty work for him right he's a kind of guy that could be
once he retires he could keep on being a manager he's a perfect manager in fact

(23:19):
if you think about oh I will why do you I mean why else why else would they be
putting Paul Ellering together with him I think I mean I think I think that's I
think that is precisely what when we're talking about 10 years 20 years in the
future is this is carrying cross is going to become a manager of the Paul

(23:41):
Ellering level yeah I believe that I believe that like yeah I think you're
right I do think that like I hope he has an amazing career while he's while he's
still oh yeah I want to buy I do think that like with his character there's so
much longevity with that you could really make that go a long way his
ability to his his demeanor and his ability to manipulate people yeah like

(24:08):
his cat his character can manipulate people and and yeah just his he's got
this history and this aura of you know it's not it's not the tough guy I'm
strong look at how look at how tough I am it is it is the terrifying if you if
you saw him at if you turned down an alley and saw him you would you would

(24:30):
shit yourself yeah you know kind of thing he's threatening but he's like he
he's the bounce yeah he's the bouncer at Dante's in Portland if anybody's ever
to Dante's in Portland you know what I'm talking like that dude is fucking
terrifying yeah he has said in interviews that he bases a lot of his

(24:51):
character work on Negan from the Walking Dead if you've ever watched it I have I
was sort of that was that was I got to I got to his part I I certainly didn't
much was very like it's weird he's like he's a really nice guy but he just
really isn't like but he really just when it when it comes to when it comes

(25:13):
to bits it's it's a it's the mafia it's a kind of mafia thing it's a mafia
boss exactly boss situation yeah you're right I mean I know we're I know we're
dealt I know we're tangenting all this but but talking about mafia stuff when
when the dawn of NXT and and no I watch and I think it was why is it blank why

(25:36):
am I having a frickin grain fart why can't I think of his name who the NXT
North American champion of a family beat over Femi Oh be of any why the fuck
Adriana Rizzo is the is like the the the woman in the faction of the family wow

(26:02):
this is bad like man my brain is my brain just dropped anyway um Tony
D'Angelo tell me yeah shit Jesus Christ yeah Tony D yeah Tony D'Angelo I'll edit
I'll probably won't edit that out Tony D like Tony D'Angelo I think and those
guys have a I hope to see them on the main roster at some point and I don't

(26:25):
think it's me for maybe like a year or so but that would be a good rivalry to
see those guys come up and face authors face you know Final Testament anyway
holy shit Motor City Machine Guns defeated a town down under in a eight
minute dark match tag team at the beginning can make no comment about

(26:45):
because the only people that saw it were in the arena I think so yeah good for
them but first match of the night yeah Drew McIntyre versus Sammy Zane obviously
we go into this match we told the Drew McIntyre so Sammy Zane has never
defeated Drew McIntyre in a singles match he and he still did not still has

(27:06):
not yeah that completely defeated Street continues and I I love that kind of
stuff I love a little bit of that like yeah Drew McIntyre is just Sammy Zane's
foil and and which is crazy you might maybe maybe I interrupted and I'm gonna
say what you're gonna say but like Sammy Zane is the same thing to Gunter in a

(27:30):
way like yeah Sammy Zane's the only other guy the only guy that's beaten
Gunter yes we're saying now Cody Rhodes is of recently but yeah oh that's right
never mind scratch that I'm dumb but yeah I mean this was I mean I love right
now what's what's so good we were talking about this in our in our little

(27:52):
group chat last week but no one's a heel no one's a face Drew McIntyre is totally
like vindicated and in your eyes things for what he's doing and so it's a
grudge man yeah it's person it's it's personal yeah it's a personal rivalry
you either like but like the main the main ones really to tone that that in

(28:14):
on and that is CM Punk and Seth Rollins like neither of those is a heel
neither of those guys are a face you as the crowd get to pick who the fuck you
cheer for in that no one is either because honestly they're both doing
heelish things and they're both doing face kind of things but neither of them
a bit playing either role yeah I mean it's certainly not a traditional it's

(28:37):
certainly not in a traditional sense no but I guess you could say that about a
lot of the stories right now like right what Kevin Evans does at the end of this
show is is very heel like but in in what he's doing and why he's doing them he
that there's a reason he was have a why now and I don't think he was have had a
wife for such a long time but like yeah we've mentioned this yeah we mentioned

(29:00):
this comes on yeah with Kevin Owens is the same way is there Kevin Seth and
drew all on like that same wavelength of trying to like take out will not take
out but like they've got a problem with the bloodline yeah yes and every
member of them and and and it's which funny I know I know that it's been

(29:23):
mentioned it's definitely been mentioned on threads a number of our followers and
things that I've seen like that it's all revolves even when Roman Reigns is not
even in a match or in anything all of these all of these storylines are

(29:43):
revolving around Roman Reigns yeah like and and and it and it and it branches
out like in in wild different ways yeah the the storyline kind of tree so to
speak is all interlinked and that's amazing yeah it's such a hard thing to
do but like you've got you know you got this whole stuff with Gunther and Finn

(30:08):
Balor and then you've got the stuff with the Gunther and Damien Priest but then
the stuff is Finn Balor goes into the stuff with Liv Morgan which is with with
obviously with Rhea Ripley which ties back around to Damien Priest is there's
so many links with with different people this it's rare now that that someone's

(30:28):
involved in just their own solitary thing something and it's great because
that really fleshes out at a universe I mean calling it the WWE universe is such
a long time but yeah now like your actions don't just affect a one person
you're in a rivalry with it affects other storylines too yeah yeah because

(30:49):
that's how the real world works so they're doing a great job of I'd love to
think that in the writing room they just have this massive interlinking tree
where it's like well if if Chad Gable does this thing over here then how's
that gonna affect Roman Reigns in three weeks from now it's just it's just yeah

(31:11):
it's really intriguing how they're doing it but they're doing a fucking good job
of it I give you that much right oh yeah it's I'm imagining like the Charlie Day
like like thing from always sunny with all the points and it's just like and
it's just like yeah this is this is how it all this is how it all works yeah
that's how all in the links yeah but that was a great match these guys always

(31:34):
put on a good match but it was high octane really good match to start the
night off with as well and obviously the only non championship match of the night
so probably the best match to start it with and obviously yep as you said Drew
got the win and that was that next up we had Liv Morgan versus EO Sky for the

(31:55):
Women's World Championship yes we do oh I lost my page here for a second
there it is yeah another good match I mean some of these matches definitely
suffered from the constant adverts that yeah it took me it took me a while I mean

(32:17):
me and Danny the brain were were live threading through this through this all
and that's that was one of the things we first noted and I was like there are so
many commercials and forgetting this is this is a network simulcast that's right
it's on NBC but but even for that there seemed to be a lot of commercials yeah

(32:41):
there just seemed to be a lot of commercials especially mid-match like
yeah well I think every match suffered from a mid-match commercial and I I'm
looking at this Liv Morgan EO Sky match at a match time of nine minutes five
seconds and I'm like no fucking way like but that's because I you probably missed
half that match because of that yeah and that's and I think and that's what

(33:04):
that's what made it feel like it made it feel like everything was rushed yeah
because you yeah because you missed you missed two you know two minutes in the
middle there yeah I'm looking at all these match times here and I'm like
they're really good match times but I'm thinking like you might as well cut three
to four minutes off of every match because that's how much we missed of
every yeah yeah and that's something that's something that I know a lot of

(33:25):
people I I know a lot of people were very frustrated online about it and and
they really I think they really need to they need to mitigate that somehow
because that it it took it took me out of it a few times it was just and then
by the time you got back into the match it was over even if they did picture

(33:45):
picture in picture I wouldn't that would be fine that would have been and they
started they started doing it for the in the in the main event that would have
been yeah that would have been fine if they had done picture in picture for it
I mean come on guys like even AEW is is is smart enough to do picture and
picture on their broadcasts yeah like come on just just do it like but I guess

(34:10):
moving forward I mean especially if you want people to sit there during the
commercials like yeah because obviously when we when it goes to met I mean
pertains to be seen like what's gonna happen but when it moves to Netflix
obviously ads won't be too much of an issue anymore we want to do if you know
man we don't even know that we don't even know for sure if that's gonna be

(34:30):
the case because we we thought that you know I want to think like I want to be I
want to be positive but remember even in the WW even the WWE Network when after
like after like the first year they started playing commercials on their own
program in their own programming I'm a little I'm worried that they might I

(34:51):
don't know they might they might know cuz I in the British version of the
network there were never adverts no oh well well America fucking sucks so we
we had obviously in the UK Saturday night's main event was played on YouTube
live-streamed on YouTube yeah every time there was an ad break it would just come

(35:13):
up with a flash screen that was just like commercial breaks like we back in a
moment but I didn't watch it live and luckily they put in all the time stamps
when the show came back so I never had to sit through any ads so that's why a
lot of the matches felt really short because I like you not even having to
sit there for three or four minutes I just skipped ahead and then the match was

(35:35):
over so yeah yeah yeah but yeah I mean what it's we're we're nitpicking about
things that you know this this is just us this is just us being picky about
yeah we're just some whining about advertisements but the end of the day I
can't really remember too much about Liv Morgan near sky I do remember see

(35:55):
Rhea Ripley returning at the end and obviously she challenged Liv Morgan on
raw yeah that's nice so what I see what I but what I like about Liv one of the
things of note about this might be it could be a little digibonus that I'll
that I'll drop in here Liv Morgan's Liv Morgan's finisher boy I'm having a

(36:18):
brain fart day the oblivion oblivion yeah the oblivion no one has ever
kicked out of no it's another it's another finisher that's protected no
one's ever no one has ever kicked out of the oblivion except during instances

(36:38):
where the ref was not available to make the pin that make the count immediately
like yeah she'd hit it she I forget which match it was but someone kicked out
of it and and it was I think was Rhea Ripley that kicked out of it once and it
was and it was because the ref was not the ref was not in position for whatever

(36:59):
reason I can't remember exactly what the situation was so so Liv is one of the
few people who still have a protected finisher which is great you love to see
it yeah it's good I forget who I don't know who else I don't know that there's
anybody else right now that has that has a finisher that's never been kicked out

(37:21):
of I've taught my head I can't here's what I like I don't know if it was
intentional or if there's no I don't know that there's a way to know if this
was an intentional or if or if she was supposed to counter it because the the
end result was EO EO was doing a move off the top rope and she kind of she

(37:43):
kind of stumbled on the top rope and fell in you know landed on her feet but
didn't do what she was I guess trying to do and that's when Liv and that's when
Liv countered it into into the oblivion and I thought that I thought that was a
great way of if it was planned that way fucking brilliant if it wasn't planned

(38:10):
that way still fucking brilliant because that's what you should do like that's
that's what a champion should be able to do you take advantage of a situation
where that where the opponent made a misstep and you turn it into your
finisher you hit your finisher and it's done you know boom we love that we do
love that so either way if they if they big either way people are talking about

(38:33):
it and that's what you want I don't think I don't think EO I don't think EO
made a mistake I'm gonna I'm I literally I am of the opinion that it was a planned
mistake because it didn't look like a slip it didn't you certainly didn't fall
unlike an injure herself no no it was just like it was just like she didn't

(38:54):
have the right balance and kind of just hopped off the rope and landed on her
feet either either way it was I think I think it was great the other thing that
I realized midway through this because we're at the mid you know it's that like
you say this is this is a televised broadcast so this is all targeted

(39:15):
towards either casual fan very casual fans or or potentially new fans new fans
well I literally just actually found out anything between peacock and obviously
watching live on NBC they pulled in around I think it was 2.6 million people
watched Saturday night's main event so it's a lot of people and obviously they

(39:41):
definitely were catering towards the new fan at this show because they did a lot
of like the way they would the commentators were talking about a lot of
the the guys and girls was like as if we've never seen them before and I was
like the very first before my brain turned on to it I was like I yeah I know
why are you telling me this and I'm like oh wait shit there's pretty loads of new

(40:04):
people that either haven't watched before I haven't watched in a very long
time so yeah that totally made sense yeah also we I mean of course everybody
everybody talks about it and so we'll talk about it too that the niche to the
face by EO obviously yeah that was a little stiff yeah that was pretty stiff

(40:25):
I'm you know I'm busted our nose on that one certain certain it's you know
certainly wasn't intentional I'm sure hell no but this is this is a ballet as
they say about it hey ballet that's for sure yeah but man she took but she took
it like a champ you know yeah yeah but yeah potentially put possible broken

(40:48):
nose by Liv Morgan so we'll see of course you know I think she was on she
was on raw and it seems like she was she was all good so nine minutes oh sorry oh
no go ahead nine minutes five seconds on that one yeah yeah gonna head towards
Rhea Ripley versus Liv Morgan I'm gonna guess at the first on Netflix on raw a

(41:15):
raw on Netflix sorry yeah possibly and possibly but that card is starting to
really stack up now yeah and I did they did they confirm that it's that it's
three hours they haven't said anything about a time at all but I think the
whole idea is with Netflix you can just run over as long as short as you want to

(41:36):
because you don't have to worry about and yeah being on afterwards yeah like
this is it's as crazy like you've got to think for a second like this isn't just
a big step for WWE this is a big step for Netflix and this is a big step for
television in general this is the first ever TV show forget wrestling this is
the first of a TV show to run live on Netflix every week yeah yeah it's huge

(42:03):
it's breaking it's breaking new ground the other sports and other TV shows
haven't even touched could never do yep yeah they they WWE is once again
pioneering the industry yeah yeah they're pioneering modern-day television
once again they did it with the start of raw being like this weekly episodic

(42:24):
thing and now it's the longest running of all time and now they're doing it
again and it's like yeah that they're really setting the foundation for what
potentially could be TV of the future it's not about you know airing on
television ad breaks and having to run the time constraints because you got a
wait for sex in the city to play after raw you know yeah like yeah you can just

(42:47):
go for as long as or as short as you want to and that's that's such a good
position to be in it's awesome and and I mean with and with the number one you
know with the number one streaming service too I I I'm sure they learned a
lot you know my rose-colored glasses I wish I wish we could just have the WWE
Network the way it was like yeah the WWE Network the way it was when it first

(43:11):
like after the way I have it right now yeah the way yeah exactly the way you
still have it right now like that was that was perfect but but I get but
obviously for whatever reason it wasn't profitable enough to to maintain itself
and I get I understand why some of the some of the other shows like you know

(43:33):
they they were filling up they were filling up an entire network of content
and they were putting on these these extra shows some of them were great you
know the edge and Christian show of awesomeness was was great you know all
those other things the table for three a lot a lot of them yeah table for three a
lot of the doctors all the documentaries all this document yeah there's just so

(43:56):
fantastic and I think more than anything I think more than anything what it did
was it built it helped WWE the the the company better understand and prepare
itself for more higher level production yeah you know all of these yeah you know
that's that's that's if the W the WWE Network really helped WWE in its modern

(44:16):
day way of doing it like the way they produce their documentaries now they
they well sorry the way they produce their documentaries is now almost how
they shoot everything yeah they're so good at what they do it's very WWE style
of doing things to be honest with you at this point they would bring back that

(44:37):
they is those they the theater the theater film style matches those great
dude those were some of those were just like fantastic yeah yeah well hopefully
they'll be put in the vote but on the vault but it's like I did read that like

(45:01):
basically a lot of the vault stuff sorry a lot of the stuff that's on the on the
historic stuff that's on the network such as like Smokey Mountain Wrestling
all of the old Nitro episodes things like that things that like WWE have been
straight and be like they're great to have there but no one really watches no
one's really watching it yeah catering to exactly because a lot of people are

(45:25):
like the catering to us when we when we get a fan requested episode to review
an old Smokey Mountain you know sometimes you do want to just go back
but I know I get it it's really fun to have there at your
disposable whenever you want it but I think when they're looking and they're
going like well because I'm sure they can see the numbers it's like well
episode 52 of Smokey Mountain Wrestling has been viewed like six times since the

(45:49):
network opened it's like yeah why do we even have it there like it's taking up
space that we just they were using and they were because they were using it for
like they were also using that kind of stuff for filler like they would just
they would just put on at two o'clock in the morning you know like yeah old old
shit to fill up their space no it's perfectly reasonable and logical no one

(46:09):
no one's going back to no one's going back to watch all that stuff so exactly
but but will I miss it will I miss the fact that I can't watch episode 56 of
Smokey Mountain Wrestling yeah absolutely it's just it's just comforting
as you know it is it's just because we're absolute wrestling nerds right yeah
I want to be everything at all times and when something and when something brings

(46:32):
up the you know when you think about that match from whenever and you're like
oh shit yeah I want to go watch that match exactly exactly but what it will
do you'll go on it you'll be on Instagram you'll be scrolling through and
you'll be like oh did you know that Brett the Hitman heart made his debut in
episode 56 Smokey Mountain Wrestling at what really well I'm gonna go back and
watch episode 56 I keep bringing up I'm gonna have to check you're gonna have

(46:55):
to make a real of this yeah we better get these in we better get these in
before we can't yeah but yeah I want to I want to know what happened on episode
56 Smokey Mountain Wrestling you know so but what it will do but I think what it
will also do is eventually over time we're already talking about missing it

(47:15):
before it's gone over time it's where they're gonna be like okay well you know
what we can we'll bring some of these back in when they have the ability or
the bandwidth or whatever else when they figure it out like all right well you
know what in 2026 we're bringing all the old WCW back you know yeah yeah yeah
shit we really we really need to figure out we really need to figure out what

(47:39):
we're gonna do the next couple of months if we're if we're out of old stuff
we'll work that out off off pod all right are you are you ready are you
ready Smokey Mountain Wrestling episode 56 we've got the heavenly bodies Lane
Pritchard Neaton versus Rendo Riggins Dixie Dynamite and Len Fields we had

(48:05):
Brian Lee versus Larry Santo we had the Night Stalker versus Tracy Smothers for
the Smokey Mountain Wrestling TV Championship and we have the dirty
white blonde boy versus Ted Allen and then in the main event we had the Rock

(48:27):
and Roll Express versus Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden all right yeah there you
go names you definitely heard of especially the dirty white boy that's a
wrestling name I've never heard of no no not once not once I'm gonna have to

(48:48):
Google that but yeah next match yeah but you know who we have heard of Gunter
Finn Baller and Damian Priest there we go yeah in a triple threat match for the
World Heavyweight Championship yeah one thing I just noticed that four out of the
five matches I ended in a something in five seconds I just noticed that as well

(49:08):
and the other two and the other two ended exactly on the minute like
minute yeah this is you know why because Network television because network
television because Network television they had such a tight schedule yeah you
know like 10 seconds 10 second grace time got it so yeah yeah this match was
great I mean I really want to see Finn Baller versus Gunter as a singles match

(49:34):
I think that would be a really good match yeah but hopefully we'll get that
at some point but yeah and I think guys they've all got really good chemistry go
ahead yeah no I think this was perfect I think this was perfect to do two three
to do two things and then a third thing right one it continues it continues the

(49:57):
Damian Priest Finn Baller feud which which of course we saw what happened
what happened on RAW with that feud shout out to our new tag team
champions the Wall Raiders shout out to Ivar and also if you want to become a
tag team champion in the WWE all you have to do is interview have an

(50:21):
interview with us nine months beforehand yeah really that's all you have to do
yeah because evidently Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and Ivar are all tag
team champions now yep so so so you're welcome so you're welcome DIY welcome
you're welcome Johnny Gargano you're welcome Tommaso Ciampa you're welcome
Ivar we are going to you just were injured yeah we yeah well of course of

(50:46):
course I mean yeah we just didn't get that we didn't get to interview him
because he was he he wasn't around yeah but that's all thanks to us that is it
really is I think I think we're gonna we're gonna pat ourselves yeah we're
gonna DIY pat ourselves on back right now we have to do a bit of a DIY pat ourselves on the back here
you know well I guess it wasn't for the advice that we had bestowed upon them

(51:08):
obviously when the cameras weren't rolling yeah you won't get you know what
I think since we brought this up with probably would be a good time for us to
re-upload those those interviews those interviews you're right we'll re-share them
or we'll do something we'll put them up on that we'll put them up on a YouTube
channel yeah you definitely get yeah slash punch on Crescent you know what I
might actually I might be able to condense all of these down into let me

(51:30):
figure something out we should definitely use those I've sure yeah we never I know
we've yeah I know a terrible we used we did loads of real was using them but I
really think there's more that could be done but I also think we have a little
higher reach now and there we I think it'd be good I think it'd be nice for
our newer fans to yeah I mean it's see some of those we've actually what we we

(51:52):
we are the best at going off in tangents today it's yeah I mean you know it's
it's also what happens when we take a week off it's we've got an extra week
worth of wrestling you know in our yeah so we're like we're really really close
to 400 followers which I'm fuck yeah like yeah great yeah and I know and 500

(52:18):
is gonna be our next benchmark that we're gonna actually start we're gonna
start actively trying to get more followers we've been I mean we've been
hanging out here you know we've been doing this for fun we have not been
putting any real effort into promotion or anything it's all just word of mouth
it's all just it's all just you know thanks to you king of reels and your

(52:38):
hashtags and you know people find it you know we get getting some getting some
more traction on threads a shout out to all our threads followers we love you
yeah where were we oh yeah and the third thing what did I say the first thing
what the first thing was it continues the right that was the first thing I
didn't even get to the second thing yeah and obviously Finn Balor has also got

(53:01):
the fact that like the Judgment Day are like fract like they're fractured in the
middle of the moment you've got Liv Morgan Dominic and Rodriguez on one side
and we got Carly oh Finn and McDonough on the other side yeah I like this weird
fracture in the middle right now and it's more more so between Liv and Finn
they keep it seems to keep bickering all the time I don't know I don't know how

(53:24):
much longer the Judgment Day will be around in the sense of I think they'll
they'll cut in the middle and maybe I don't know we'll see what happens there
but now that now that they lost the tag titles with me which means Liv is now
the only champion Michelle Roderick Raquel Rodriguez yeah did not did not

(53:47):
win the triple threat to go on to the women's IC match so she won't have a
chance I'm sure she will I'm sure she'll get a shot at that title eventually oh
yeah sure you know or if she goes over to smackdown she'll get a shot at the
at the women's US title for sure yeah but I think it was I think it was I think

(54:10):
it was a good I think was the right decision for sure
but yeah this leave this leaves Liv as the only champion in the Judgment Day
right now it does so that that's definitely gonna cause a stir next week
I feel yeah yeah I don't know I don't know where they're gonna go with it
because Finn was like Dom wasn't even Dom was brought into the Judgment Day

(54:35):
because through Rhea and she's not there Finn's the only Finn's the only guy who
has any real authority like even though they're supposed to be all equals
whatever he's still the he's the only original member of what of what the you
know what the real Judgment Day what we said because Judgment Day didn't really

(54:56):
mean anything until Finn Balor came in and they kicked Edge out well I
shouldn't say it didn't mean anything but it didn't really get going yeah yeah
you know what you mean yeah cuz nobody just nobody believed that heel edge that
just didn't work yeah it didn't it do kind of fell in it was fun it was fun to

(55:17):
see for a minute you know it's fun to see like evil and little sadistic but
it just it was it wore off so fast because people just want to cheer him
yeah it is really hard to reinvent yourself when you're that far into your
career and I feel like it was starting to work I feel like if they kept going
at it and apparently it seems like the plan was to do that but I think they

(55:38):
changed it very quickly for some reason I heard yeah either way like because it
didn't they changed it because it didn't work yeah but um yeah I think yeah it is
what it is and but yeah but once Edge was gone it all took off from there but
and the third thing the third thing I forget now so there was only two things

(56:02):
so maybe there was only two things to be good there is still the World Heavyweight
Champion of course 11 minutes and five seconds yeah I don't know who his next
contender will be I mean we got Finn Balor versus Damien Priest is gonna be
obviously coming up yeah point I think I mean we might again that might that

(56:23):
might be another we might we might see a stipulation we might see another Hell in
a Cell we might see Finn Balor Damien Priest Hell in a Cell because that's
Hell in a Cell is becoming the is becoming the the the match for grud to
end grudge matches yeah yeah you know personal grudge matches they don't have
to be about a title I just hate you so much that I that I need to be locked in

(56:47):
exactly what the Hell in a Cell was for originally so yeah yeah I'm glad it's
coming back to that I mean CM Punk and Drew brought the Hell in a Cell back to
its former glory in one match boom yeah now the Hell in a Cell I associate it
with that well you could I mean the Seth Rollins the Seth Rollins Cody Rhodes

(57:07):
Hell in a Cell oh yeah yeah kind of brought but but that also brought it but
honestly a lot of that match got over overshadowed by Cody Rhodes injury going
into the match right I mean it was it was brutal it was it was hard to watch
it made it made that match more uncomfortable because of that itself
yeah oh totally yeah yeah yeah I don't know I don't know I don't know who's

(57:33):
gonna yeah I don't know where that that goes you go from here but we'll see how
good there wasn't even on Raw this week in fact so no he took he took the week
off yeah fuck it he's champ yeah next up no but how good oh my god how good did
Ludwig Kaiser look though in that IC title match oh shit yeah he's been great
hit the triple threat he had with Sheamus and Brombreaker from from the last

(57:59):
PLA was fucking great I thought he was great and he was so good in that he
focused on the shoulder the whole time yeah and it was just like he's such a
good technical wrestler that dude's gonna get he'll he will get that belt
he'll get that belt eventually yeah he will be in a title champion I'd love I'd
love it he's the kind of guy that could win that or the US title and turn it

(58:20):
into the European Championship he's yeah it'd be so cool to see and he's the he's
the perfect guy to do it triple H come on come on come on come on I want to yeah we
want to see that you know what else we wanted to see what's that
Chelsea Green become the inaugural WWE Women's United and that is a women's

(58:44):
United States champion it's such a good ending to this match the way she flipped
over on the top rope it was so cool never seen that before I've seen
Christian using that move for like 25 fucking years they've never seen him get
into the move like that so fair play yeah just amazing eight minutes eight

(59:06):
minutes and five seconds yeah shortest match of the televised night the Motor
City machine guns tag team match was actually eight minutes so five seconds
shorter so shout out to the women not having the shortest match of the night
yeah they did have the second and third shortest match of the night so we got it

(59:26):
we still got to work on that a little bit a little bit but we also
shy it's also with it they're also literally I mean you have eight minutes
eight minutes and five seconds nine minutes and five seconds ten minutes and
five seconds eleven minutes and five seconds twelve minutes are the best
times like the difference between the difference between the main event the

(59:49):
longest match which is the main event and the pre-show dark match is only four
minutes yeah exactly so that's not that's not so bad but yeah we could have
given it we could have given we could have given them you know ten minutes and
drew and Sammy eight minutes and I would have been happier but anyway but here we
are here we are Chelsea Green your inaugural your inaugural WWE Women's

(01:00:14):
United States Championship a champion I don't here's what here's the problem I
have I'm gonna go off on it I'm gonna go off on a little tangent rant I do not
like the way that they use the graphics I've seen them online they use you know
when you have and still and new for the championship matches they were using the
new and new WWE Women's United States Championship and I and I feel like they

(01:00:39):
and first and first yeah first or and inaugural WWE Women's United States
Champion I just think that's a little I'm just nitpicky but you know come on
like guys in the graphics department like do better make sure make sure the
inaugural when you do the inaugural women's IC champ do it right

(01:01:01):
that's all exactly that's all shout out to me chin to me chin did put on an
excellent performance all throughout the tournament you know she's she's
definitely gonna get that belt she's definitely gonna get that that yeah she
Chelsea Green like in this match was like for one her attire is amazing her

(01:01:22):
attire had her face all over it right which is homage to of course her husband
Zack Ryder yeah and obviously the attire itself was
homage to Zack Ryder because she had the well not that I'm sorry I'm sorry so
yeah it's a Mac card at Cardona yes but yeah she had the one leg one short leg

(01:01:43):
little trunks which is obviously what Zack Ryder used to wear yeah and she
was a writer I was explaining writer as well she did I was so my mom actually
watched Saturday night's main event with me over the weekend she was she was
knitting some knitting a shawl and she didn't want to didn't want to get up so

(01:02:06):
basically I basically got her to convince her to just stay there and
watch with me and then so I was explaining to her about it you know
Chelsea Green's husband Matt Cardona he's and you know he's in another
promotion and these are these are kind of the you know throwback to the homage
to him his gear and all that and so she thought she thought that was really nice

(01:02:30):
so I love it when you watch like wrestling with yeah like if I watched
wrestling with my mom before and it's just been like you're trying to explain
these really nuanced things that they won't take on board nor remember in
about 15 minutes right but you feel the need to tell them anyway yeah she just

(01:02:51):
got a talent she just you know she just thought it was it was a it was a nice
you know display of you know that's part of their love language and isn't that
sweet it's just it's just a yeah isn't that isn't that special yeah but anyway
shout out to my mom for watching wrestling with me Chelsea Green first

(01:03:14):
ever the US United States Women's Champion amazing good shit yeah and she
deserves it because she's been killing it yeah she really has to be honest with
you and you know and it really super cool that they said that her first ever
TV match was against me chin and it was seven years to the day that she won her

(01:03:37):
first ever singles championship yeah was the women's knockouts championship and
TNA yeah what's nice little nice little way to tie in a little a little TNA tie
in yeah I'm loving the little bromance between TNA and WWE right now yeah now
now I know there's there is some there is some drama there is some there is

(01:03:59):
some big drama especially in the women's in the knockouts division of TNA right
now I went back I went back and I actually watched what was it what was
there Oh Reza final resolution I watched final resolution the other night well

(01:04:19):
we won't talk about that here because this is not that's not what this episode
is about maybe I'll maybe I'll do a supplemental RW rants for the patreon
patreon.com slash punk stock wrestling where you can get other stuff that's not
on the episodes yeah that's where it is but yeah it's they sprinkled it they

(01:04:40):
sprinkled in I think they that was more than once that they made a TNA reference
yeah they mentioned TNA quite a fair amount these days and that's great and
like it would be so cool I would love it I'd absolutely love it if Dolph Ziggler
could make an appearance on the WWE obviously under TNA contract Nick
Nemeth coming out with the TNA world championship in the Royal Rumble

(01:05:04):
be so damn good I mean come on I mean listen if you really want to I can't I
don't even know how to do it right having having Nick Nemeth come out and
win as the TNA champion and win the Royal Rumble win the Royal Rumble and

(01:05:30):
win the and win the Royal Rumble yeah man win the Royal Rumble screw all these
other guys they don't need nobody else needs to win the see him punk doesn't
need to win the Royal Rumble he can have a main event match without winning the
Royal Rumble Cody nobody nobody else needs to win the Royal Rumble but that
would be and and have him fit and then have and have and have Nick Nemeth face

(01:05:51):
the world champion have it have it be Nick Nemeth versus Gunter for the dub
for both titles on the line book it book it right now make it happen
Nick Nemeth verse Gunter title for title I think I'd love to see it we could do
it we could make it happen you think you're in a little bubble there but but

(01:06:13):
I'd love to see I'm in a I'm in something yeah well you know I come up I
come up with great I come up with great ideas it's up to it's up to the rest of
the world to get on board with it that's right it's it's up to it's up to
everyone else to just like six seven steps ahead the whole time exactly you
know they're playing they're playing chess I'm playing 3d chess 3d chess I

(01:06:40):
don't know that there yeah I don't really know that there is another one
as far as board games go yeah yeah but twister twister is kind of difficult but
for the whole body doesn't take much thought though anyway
Cody Rhodes versus Kevin Owens for the unspeakable championship fucking
fantastic match I mean yeah shit yeah FMA F FFFM I should have tested me out

(01:07:07):
didn't realize what the fuck was going on anyway two referee bumps in this
match we had a fucking crossbody on one of them and the other one just getting
inadvertently just kind of knocked down but what that's why he returned okay
that's what I'm saying yeah you return that's why that's why they said he
returned as rough because he came in second okay that's right but yeah

(01:07:32):
what's more to be talked about here is well Cody Rhodes wins the match does the
old crossroads onto the chair and the show comes to an end and yeah so first
of all what a heelish thing to do yeah interesting right it's very not
Cody Rhodes to do something like that but I guess if you think about that their

(01:07:56):
rivalry that's been going on it's not exactly been no he's has it no he's
pissed off he's Cody Rhodes is pissed off at Kevin Owens yeah being pissed off
at him yeah but there there is a lot to unpack with that match okay so yeah

(01:08:16):
Cody Cody's Cody's doing heels Cody's doing heel shit for sure and I think
it's from what I'm from what we're hearing from what we're hearing
supposedly Cody Rhodes is supposed to be out for a while now there's no there's
no chance he's not gonna be on the January 6th raw I think he'll be there

(01:08:37):
yeah but I don't know how I don't know how but how long he'll be out I did well
they said on road he the injuries he sustained weren't that bad he had like
that bad swelling but there was no fractures or anything like that so he's
out to the end he's out till he's yeah yeah Kevin Owens with the package pile
driver beat down after off went after went off the air once again shout out to

(01:09:06):
not Nick on threads because he's the one he's the first person I saw that put up
video I don't I don't know where the video was from but I he was the first
person I saw that put up the video of the aftermath right okay but yeah that I
love it I love that they're doing this again I love that they're I love that

(01:09:26):
they're well this is how this whole storylines run I mean it was a bad blood
where the fans filmed the video of their Kevin Owens attacking Cody backstage
next to us we're doing the same thing again and it was fucking not only did he
do a power drive he did the package power drive he hasn't done that move
since he was in Ring of Honor straight yes yeah which and you I I watched I

(01:09:50):
I've been watching a lot of wrestling in the last few days yeah for you know for
reasons but I watched I was up late and I watched because they were putting stuff
up we were talking about WW you vault yeah and they put up the Kevin out one
of the Kevin Owens documentaries I also watched the CM Punk the best in the
world CM Punk doc oh that's a great documentary yeah oh my god there's so

(01:10:13):
much like I love CM Punk so much you know I've always loved I've always loved
him as you as as as 2024 RW has always right 24 RW Hub on has always loved
since always loved CM Punk yeah that's right and and that and watching that
documentary and thinking back to the time that that documentary was made

(01:10:35):
reminded me what it was because CM Punk there is there's a lot of I don't know
how to put this I I only hated here's how here's the best way to put it the

(01:10:56):
only time I didn't like CM Punk was during a time period where I didn't
really like myself you know and that was and that was most of 2023 and before
there was probably you know I've spoken before on the pod I've you know I've
been going to therapy I have therapists that's talked to me through some

(01:11:16):
troubling things and and and things are good things are much better and to one
of the takeaways and it was and and this is this is true I mean I'm not
bullshitting but like one of the things that I recognized and with my previous
disdain for CM Punk but mostly the CM Punk in it was CM Punk in AEW but it was

(01:11:39):
also mostly it was CM Punk shitting on WWE time frame yeah era obviously he was
going through his own stuff too he you know you can change we all change and
you could see with the situations that happened with him in AEW and the reasons
why why that happened why and and there were a lot of there were a lot of I when

(01:12:06):
you see someone's when you see someone that looks like they're spiraling
downward or like that this is not right like this shouldn't be like this yeah
like there's something it takes shit to happen to some people to realize it's
not shit to happen that like what like for you to wake up and go all right what

(01:12:27):
am I actually doing here yeah what the fuck am I doing here this is not this
is not who I am is not how I want to be yeah and and there were and there was a
bit of a realization you know I was still angry I was still angry I was I was
vehemently angry when he returned last year's Survivor Series yeah you know I
was as I was as angry I was legitimately as angry as Seth Rollins

(01:12:49):
appeared to be of course I'm not the only person you know he is a he is a
controversial figure that is always polarizing for sure yeah but when you go
back but when you go back and you see the documentary and you get a glimpse as
to who he was and how he became that then it's like oh yeah get it I don't

(01:13:16):
hate CM Punk at all I hate myself I actually have that documentary on DVD I
got it when it first came out but I did see that they uploaded it to the vault
so I'll have to go back and watch it because I do remember it being great so
yeah yeah yeah so that was that was a huge that was a huge turn that was a

(01:13:37):
huge turning point for me when I realized it's like I am projecting I'm
projecting my own discomfort with myself and where who I am and where I am yeah
and I'm projecting it onto him because he's an easy target to project it on to
because he's a because he's asking for it he's literally you know he goes out

(01:13:59):
there yeah I almost had the same thing I came came back around to CM Punk kind of
before he came back to the WWE I think but I guess even when he was in AEW and
he was saying he was in that press conference he was saying all that shit
he was saying about the company he was just saying shit that I could see from

(01:14:21):
the outside within and I was like to see someone from inside the company saying
all the things that I was thinking were going on there I'm like oh so you're
right that is what's happening there then like it's not just I'm making this
up like that is what's going on oh man the other thing I was well I know this
is another tangent but the other thing I was watching a lot of lately and I mean

(01:14:45):
lately with I mean within like the last 24 hours I binged like three hours three
or four hours worth of inside the ropes episode oh shit yeah yeah mostly Chris
Jericho I saw one I was like I can't listen to Bret Hart I love Bret I love
Bret Hart as a kid but every time I listen to him talk now he sounds like he

(01:15:11):
he just sounds like he doesn't want to be there he says always sounds bored
yeah always say he sounds bored he sounds condescending to everything
that's not his side of things yeah you know and some of I'm sure some of the
shit is some of the shit is true like like some of the shit with Hogan I'm
sure is like but but even his his retelling you know you know what you

(01:15:31):
know what they say everybody's got there's there's there's once there's
there's three sides of the story there's there's the one guy's side there's the
other guy's side and there's the truth yeah somewhere in the middle he's
definitely he's deaf Bret Hart is nowhere near the middle yeah I tell you
what after we finish recording I'll send you a an inside the ropes video

(01:15:55):
actually it's it's Wade Barrett telling a story about when he was at the gym
with Brock Lesnar and a kid trying to follow follow Brock into the changing
room and it's the funniest fucking story I'll send I yeah I didn't get to I mostly
watched Chris Jericho stuff yeah Paul Heyman's done and the Paul Heyman one

(01:16:15):
yeah Paul Heyman one where he talks about him getting put together with CM Punk
at the first and they're like they're like hiding under the gate like under
the dash of the car because yeah man that's the kind of stuff that made me
you know again it just made me realize there is so much more to so much of this

(01:16:36):
yeah and and so much more of it comes down to your attitude yeah and how you
handle yourselves in the business and behind the scenes and yeah and I guess
at the end of the day CM Punk at the end of the day CM Punk did something which we
all tell ourselves to do all the fucking time yet CM Punk seems to be the only

(01:16:56):
guy a lot of the time that actually does it and that she's looking out for
himself and nobody else yeah he really is give a fuck about what other people
thought of him and what other people's opinion was gonna be he just did he
stuck up for himself and whatever he thought was right at the time now your
opinion can change and your and your what you believe in can change over time

(01:17:17):
and it has for sure but absolutely sticks by his guns and he's he's just
sticks to it sticks to his guns and I can't fall I won't there are definitely
things I've behaved in ways in the past that I would never think of behaving
right now and I you know I regret and learned from from mistakes yeah and I

(01:17:42):
think and I think everybody and I think everybody should at least get you know
there are certain things that people should get the ability to learn learn
and grow from yeah that's good and that's gonna tie and that'll tie into
the little TNA women's division drama yeah you know because there's definitely

(01:18:03):
there are there are there are some lines and sometimes it's just time sometimes
it's maturity sometimes it's giving people the opportunity to prove they're
better than they were yeah or what but like you know if ever there's a if ever
there's a man I don't even know I don't even know how the the documentary that's

(01:18:28):
made about CM Punk in ten years from now you know or you know when his career
when his career actually is finally finished yeah I mean it'll never be I
don't think I don't think he'll ever have to be finished he can he can be an
announcer he could be he can be he can work for WWE for the rest of his life
easily if he doesn't become a like why wouldn't he become a producer he will be

(01:18:51):
he will be like I can see him taking over from sure Michael's when sure
Michael steps down NXT 100% dude yeah 100% because he's already because he's
already been mentoring he's already been doing it essentially yeah yeah yeah man
anyway 12 minutes Kevin Owens vs Cody Rhodes yeah and as we say package

(01:19:13):
power driver on to Cody Rhodes on Cody Rhodes where did we go where do we end up
and so we ended up comes back out stands on Cody on the on the backboard when
he's getting put into the spinal board for the stretcher and then what's great
about this so WWE has released footage of obviously that whole attack and him
being wheeled out and yeah in the ambers what they all vacation what they didn't

(01:19:36):
release is the old gear the old occasion between Kevin Owens and Triple H
Triple H they left that to the fan yes they left that to fan footage yeah that
was fucking great that was I saw that and it looked he is real and I absolutely
love it they are there is that I mean the VM the we don't know what's going on

(01:20:02):
but dude give me again because I went back to the Kevin Owens documentary and
Triple H was the one that handed Kevin Owens the universal title right that's
right you know Triple H is involved this is this is going to be insane I know
that I know that one of the reasons Triple H like retired permanently he's
got he had some health issues yeah but come on man like there's no way you

(01:20:27):
there's no way you can't tell me they're not working up to one more Kevin
Owens versus Triple H at WrestleMania hey it would be cool if I don't know I
don't know about that far but if we if he could I'm all here for it maybe not
maybe not that I mean maybe not maybe it's not that far maybe it has to be
before that yeah but yeah cuz you know it doesn't have to be at WrestleMania

(01:20:49):
but at the end of the day like and let's not forget as well Kevin Owens left with
the wing D to wing D championship I definitely feel like there's something
that's gonna happen with that that's a huge that is huge yeah he is because
here's the thing he is going to he is going to claim that he is the champion

(01:21:09):
exactly because he pinned because he pinned him in the middle of the ring
when the ref was down and then when and then when Charles Robinson made the pin
he Charles Robinson was outside the ring and you can't be the referee cannot be
outside the ring yeah unless it's unless it's a false count anywhere match the
right the every the referee and all it has to be inside of the ring so there's

(01:21:32):
so there's a number of contentions on all of those on all of those parts right
exactly so yeah there's a lot to there's a lot to be looking into here so I think
we might and this could I mean this could definitely lead we're definitely
gonna see this match again and we're gonna see Kevin Owens hold holding
hostage the OG winged eagle belt which fucking brilliant yeah it's so good to

(01:21:57):
see that god damn right what a fucking championship they're just there they're
just I mean thank you I mean you know I have to thank you and for giving me what
I want at this point at this point you could honestly every single
championship has gone under such a great redesign as of late that I think the

(01:22:21):
last one left is the WWE Championship they all have quite a similar look and
that that's the only one that really isn't sit it isn't fit in the vibe now
so yeah that era is over yeah and I feel like what better time than when you're
moving your product to Netflix like let's get let's change it let's do it

(01:22:41):
also how also I can't imagine the spike in winged eagle replica sales oh shit
that happened like I almost I almost got myself one it's it's it's such a it's a
fucking timeless classic man that I mean well yeah of course I mean our low I
mean you know look at our logo is our logo is based off of that that winged

(01:23:04):
eagle design as well we are we are living embodiments of that as of that
shout out to shout out to our own logo shout out shout out to me you know see
you've got the reels I've got the logos and together we're unstoppable force

(01:23:25):
that what would you give the show our 20 I would I'm giving it a 17 I'm giving
it I'm I want to give it I want to give it a 17 or 16 yeah I think I gotta give

(01:23:45):
it a 16 I gotta give it a 16 maybe a 16 16 16 and it's and it's really just it's
really it's for two things you could have you you could have given you could
have given one of the women's match a longer time than drew in Sami Zayn yeah
that that's that's that that knocks it down and the second and the second was

(01:24:09):
the even even being network there was just too many fucking commercial yeah
there's too many it was and and and and not necessarily it was just they were
the commercials were at the wrong time like yeah I think it just hurts to have
the mid match like yeah having them having too many of a mid match they they
you should have you should have figured it you should do it differently in

(01:24:31):
January let's put it this way like if you're if you're airing a basket yeah if
you're airing a basketball game you need to you can't have an ad mid right while
the match is happening you say go for wrestling as well exactly why exactly
why would why would baseball is the same way you don't you don't yeah you don't
put any very sample yeah now now I know of course wrestling is not this it's not

(01:24:55):
the same it is it is its own it is an own entity but a but a boxing match if
you were to if you were to televise a boxing match or an MMA match like the
simp the most similar thing is another ring combat sport you never cut away
from a you never cut away during during a fight but there needs to be there needs

(01:25:19):
to be a better way then then this and and whether it's I I would rather I
would rather you now because I know because the problem with network and the
reason why it's diff it's more difficult with network television is because you
have local sponsors yeah every every network the network television has its
local affiliate so those so some of those commercials are geared towards

(01:25:42):
local markets yeah and you can't do that on a national scale but if you have a
nationally running ad just have the announcers read the fucking ad instead
you know how many fucking sponsors as it is anyway just just let the announcers
let the it's more entertaining for us I would rather I and I'll be honest with

(01:26:06):
you as a as a consumer I am much more likely to care about a product that
Michael Cole is reading off reading off the sponsor sponsorship for or an advert
for then just there then just your generic national ad that you put on that
you put on there like you've got you've got people whose jobs it is to talk give

(01:26:30):
them more time to talk and that way you're still you can run that you can
you can have those commercials fuck have the commercial during during a long ass
entrance even even I don't care you know like it's fun it's fine because you're
still hearing the crowd cheering and you're seeing the lights yeah and I
would rather have I would rather have that then then cut to an actual

(01:26:52):
commercial and and and get pulled out of the field get pulled out of them be
pulled out of the feeling of it right you know so so that's why so that's why
it's getting getting a 16 it would be it would be lower if the matches weren't
phenomenal and if Chelsea Green hadn't won it would have gotten a zero yeah

(01:27:14):
man but it's still it was a top tier it was a top tier event yeah it was great
was it great to see the Saturday night's main event back on TV again after so
long so yeah so so this was so so obviously we're not gonna review review
this Saturday night's main event again so we disqualify this from our from our

(01:27:34):
count yes we got 37 to choose from so we've got 30 no this one was 37 oh so
we got 36 to choose from so we got 36 so so 36 how do we do that how do we do
that with dice we've got a d20 a d10 and a d6 right that pretty much yeah all

(01:27:57):
right do you have do you have the dice you want me to I have no dice so that
you know that you do all right so well wait a second this also we've got we
run into the problem of we can never get one we could never get one or two out of
this so what do we have I usually do to do to do 20s I've got it I've got it I

(01:28:25):
think I've got it d6 and I'll roll and I'll roll a d how am I gonna do this oh
here we go I'm gonna roll a d I'm gonna roll a d20 a d10 and a d8 and that way

(01:28:54):
because that way because that way there are 36 there are 36 options okay cool
yeah out of out of a total of third out of a total of 38 because you can't get
with three dice you can never get one or two so I'll just have to so basically
the count starts so whatever I roll I subtract two from so it's this is how

(01:29:18):
this is now we think we figured it out now I think we figured out our system
now yeah we go that way we do we do it we do the dice and then we just we do a
dice and subtract to get it to get all right so this is a this is 1d20 plus 1d10
plus 1d8 minus 2 cool see it's a good thing we did that because I got a one in

(01:29:43):
this so this is 14 5 and 1 so I rolled a 20 so minus 2 is 18 so 18 so 18 where are
we that's from Sacramento California at the Arco Arena on November 26 1988 we

(01:30:04):
got the Ultimate Warrior versus Super Ninja in a singles match for the WWF
Intercontinental Championship I don't even know who's Super Ninja is Super
Ninja is Larry Richard Oliver better known as Crippler Rip Rip Oliver all
right we've got Hercules versus Virgil interesting we got Randy Savage whoo yeah

(01:30:29):
with Miss Elizabeth versus Andre the Giant I mean singles match for the W so
this is this is Randy Savage championship title here yeah this is
singles so Randy Savage versus Andre the Giant that's the middle match and then
this can't be the order this can't be the order of it because then we have Jim
Duggan versus Boris Zhukov in a flag match oh Jesus okay and the fabulous

(01:30:54):
Rouge's versus the young stallions that's random as fuck dude but that looks
that looks good I mean I wonder why if this is if this is actually the order I
wonder why I guess we'll find out oh and during the show brother love conducted a

(01:31:17):
special interview with Hulk Hogan slick amazing that's what you always want yeah
okay um so yeah Saturday's main event 20 what did we say 20 no no 18 well shit
the the event aired on NBC and drew a 9.4 rating so this is so that's pretty is

(01:31:41):
that good I guess that's good because I'm guessing it's out of 10 ah here you go
look at this I'll I just found something here ask a wrestling fan which match on
a card is the main event you invariably say the answer was the last match of the
night however for Saturday night's main event structure it was different while

(01:32:02):
WrestleMania and other pay-per-views in the 80s closed out with Hulk Hogan it
was the top of the it was the top of the first hour was yes that's main event
biggest match often was the first or second bout to air during the program so
they basically would normally put the main event in the middle of the in the

(01:32:25):
middle of the night instead of instead of at the end interesting which is fun
which is also funny because Chris Jericho on the on the inside the ropes
thing that I watched he mentioned something about about one of the
Wrestlemania's it was like you know is it the last is it the last event is the

(01:32:46):
last it was it was when he main evented it was the same night that it was rock
verse Hogan right so he made evented but with Triple H for the title but it was
Rock verse Hogan that was the main event well you know was the main event yeah
yeah exactly so this is so this is okay interesting so that's that's what it is

(01:33:08):
yeah cuz I mean god the other the other two Matt I mean let's just the other two
matches were five and a half minutes combined so that makes sense alright so
we'll pick a time to watch that I don't know when that episode will air we'll
figure it out you'll figure that out yeah we'll figure it out but other than

(01:33:31):
that oh shit I didn't even have my notes up during this whole thing I had notes
no my notes were my notes were mentioned the Paul Heyman inside the ropes clips
from 2016 and the CM Punk vault documentary so I had no notes so I guess

(01:33:55):
that's it that's it I guess that yeah I guess that's it for this week I know our
schedule has been our schedule has been a little wonky so I don't know that we
can guarantee I mean I guess I mean I mean I don't know I don't know what you're
thinking obviously we're not gonna record an episode on Christmas Eve
probably not I mean I can I know I guess actually could actually yeah I actually

(01:34:20):
could I can also do Monday we could also figure this out on the point being you
know it's Christmas it's Christmas is yeah come January will be either way in
a much better place to be recording yeah also either way you're not gonna hear a
new episode until after Christmas even if we record another one before

(01:34:41):
Christmas so definitely I would probably say that our next episode will be our
2024 review yeah so either way you know what either way we should yeah next
day next episode will be the 2024 review I'll go through I'll go to last year's one and
find out what categories we we selected and yeah and if you do the same

(01:38:16):

I get a year older and it's like I haven't figured out how to stop it I
didn't sign up for this shit I did not no I never did I never I never signed
anything when I was born exactly no I would know I had no say in the matter
yeah it was fine it's fine but bestowed upon me and I had no choice you know

(01:38:39):
yeah I did the I did in you know in our conversations with my mom during during
