God's nature is to forgive, and His forgiveness is available for all sin, regardless of the past. Pastor Christine Desiree discusses the assurance of God's grace and mercy, emphasizing that no sin is too great to be forgiven if one sincerely repents. She contrasts the unhealthy fear of God that some may have from past teachings with the understanding that God's character is fundamentally rooted in love and forgiveness. Through biblical references, she illustrates that God's willingness to forgive is not based on our worthiness but rather on His unconditional love and the sacrifice of Jesus. Join Pastor Christine as she encourages listeners to embrace God's forgiveness and the importance of turning back to Him in repentance.

(00:02):
Welcome to the Purpose in Life podcast.
I am your host, PastorChristine Desiree.
I'm so excited that you joinedin today.
Today we are continuing on ourseries, God has forgiven you.
God has forgiven you.
And today I'm going to giveyou two things, two thoughts that

(00:24):
I want you to think about.
Two things I want you to knowwhen it comes to the forgiveness
God has given, that Christ has given.
You see, the enemy tries tocome back and he tries to bring our
sins back in our face.
He is always coming andreminding us of what we did yesterday

(00:45):
and what we did in the past.
That's Satan's job.
That's what he's going to do.
But I want to arm you withsome things that you can believe
and hold on to so you can know that.
You can know that you knowthat you know that you have been
forgiven.
So, number one, God's natureis to forgive.

(01:06):
God's nature is to forgive.
I don't know how many of youare old enough to remember when the
old folks would tell us thatGod was out to get us.
And it seems as if everysermon that was preached was about
how God was going to get us.
It was a God going to get you sermon.
After a while, you realize,wait a minute.

(01:30):
Well, this person didsomething 20 years ago, or this person
is in sin.
And how come God is notgetting them?
How come they're getting awaywith that?
As we grew up, we kind ofthought, well, is that really true?
But Generation X, we grew upscared of God.
We grew up with a serious fearof God.

(01:50):
I would say an unhealthy fearof God.
But now the pendulum has swungthe other way completely.
We have gotten so far awayfrom the fear of God, okay, that
our kids don't have any fearof God at all.
This generation, this newgeneration, they don't have any fear

(02:12):
of God at all.
So it takes balance.
We need to be somewhere in the middle.
We need to know that God'snature is to forgive.
At the same time, we don'tplay with God either.
Okay?
So God's nature is to forgive, but don't play with God either.
God will not be mocked.

(02:35):
Paul in Romans says that justbecause grace abounds, just because
we have been given grace, dowe have an excuse to sin.
And he says, no, just becausewe have grace.
That is not an excuse to sin.
But God's heart, okay?
And his character is.

(02:55):
And his nature is to forgive.
These verses that I read.
Yes.
Last week.
If you haven't had a chance tolisten to the podcast before that.
Please go and listen to thatso you will hear the full scripture.
But those verses that I readyesterday tell us that God is merciful,
God is gracious, and God isslow to anger.

(03:19):
God is full of steadfast loveand faithfulness, and he keeps his
covenant with those that heloves and those who obey his commands.
So God is a covenant keepingGod, and He keeps his covenant with
us.
So that verse that I read inExodus is an assurance that he forgives
our sins when we repent andask for forgiveness.

(03:43):
So it doesn't matter whetheryou have been in deep sin, it doesn't
matter the type of sin, thekind of sin.
It doesn't matter if you werein sexual sin, if you were in pornography,
if you were lying or stealingor committed adultery.
And these are some of the bigones that I'm naming.
It doesn't matter.
God has forgiven you.

(04:04):
Your sins have been forgivenby God.
When you go on in that passagein verse 7B, part B, it says that
he will not let the guilty go unpunished.
Their sin affects not onlythem, it says it affects their children
and their grandchildren.
So yes, there is an element ofGod that we need to fear, that God

(04:28):
is terrible, that God willjudge, God will discipline.
Yes, God has that attribute.
He has those qualities.
But his nature, his characteris to forgive.
2 In First John 1:9, it says,if we confess our sins, he is faithful

(04:52):
and just to forgive us oursins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
So the second thing I want youto know is, is God's forgiveness
is available for all sin.
God's forgiveness is availableto you for every sin that you have

(05:14):
committed.
This means that no matter whatsin you have committed, no matter
what you have done in yourpast, whatever, no matter what you
did yesterday, no matter whatyou did 10 years ago, God is always
willing to forgive you.
He's there to forgive you onceyou sincerely repent.
And that's the key to confess,to make a confession and repent and

(05:39):
are determined to make thingsright with God.
God's forgiveness is available.
And God's forgiveness is notbased on your worthiness.
Absolutely not.
It's not based on how good you are.
His forgiveness is not basedon how clean you are.
Our righteousness is as filthyas rags, the Bible tells us.

(05:59):
But his forgiveness is basedon one thing, on his love.
And it's also based on his his mercy.
It's based on the sacrificethat Jesus made on the cross for
you.
You can always count on God's forgiveness.
Once you turn back to him inrepentance, you must repent.

(06:22):
So God's forgiveness isavailable for any sin.
So today I said to us thatGod's nature is to forgive and God's
forgiveness is alwaysavailable for all sin.
