How do we triumph over pain and adversity? Pastor Christine Desiree addresses this profound question by exploring the story of Naomi from the book of Ruth, who faced immense suffering yet ultimately recognized how God used her trials for a greater purpose. She emphasizes that true faith is tested during times of trouble, and it is in these moments that we can glorify God through our trust in His goodness. Drawing from personal experiences, including the loss of her parents, Pastor Christine illustrates that maintaining a spirit of praise and joy amidst suffering is the true test of faith. Ultimately, she reassures listeners that there is power in Jesus Christ that enables us to overcome our pain and emerge victorious. Tune in to discover how you can find strength and triumph in your own life’s challenges.

(00:01):
Welcome to the Purpose in Life podcast.
I'm your host, PastorChristine Desiree.
And today I'm going to betalking to you about how do we triumph
over the pain when we are in pain?
How do we triumph in that circumstance?
You know, Naomi, in the bookof Ruth, it's someone who endured

(00:24):
and experienced a lot of pain.
She felt a lot of pain.
But there was a point in timethat came in her life when she realized
that God had used that painand her troubles to bless her.
But if you turn in your Biblesto Ruth, chapter one, verses 20 to

(00:44):
21, it says, don't call me Naomi.
She told them, call me Myra, because the Almighty has made my
life very bitter.
This is a woman who isdesperate, she is grieving, and she's
saying, don't call me the namethat I was born with, my birth name.

(01:07):
Call me Mayra, because God hasmade my life bitter.
She was in a lot of pain.
But that is the place in theheart of the pain, in the heat of
the pain, that God expects usto glorify Him.
Can you imagine that when youare in the most pain, that's when

(01:31):
God.
It's in that place that Godexpects us to glorify Him.
And the way we do this is byexercising faith and belief in His
Word, by exercising faith inhis goodness and in his love, and
thanking him for permitting usand allowing us to come through or

(01:55):
go through that trial evenmore when we are to believe that
out of that pain will arisesomething more worthy of praise to
Him.
And I know it sounds like I'mspeaking crazy stuff today.
I am saying that out of thatpain, out of that affliction that

(02:15):
you are feeling, somethingmore worthy is going to come out
of it.
God puts you through it.
God allowed you to go throughit in order to birth something else
in your life, right?
So a person has only as muchfaith as he shows in the time of
trouble.
That's when your faith isreally tested.

(02:36):
That's when you will know andhow you will know how much faith
you really have is during thetime of trouble.
I want you to think about thethree men who were thrown in the
fiery furnace and how theycame out just as they went in, except
for probably the chains andthe ropes that they put around them.
But how often God removes theshackles and the chains that are

(03:01):
placed upon us when we aregoing through pain, when we are going
through trouble, God removesthose shackles.
God removes those things fromus when we are going through.
So the key or the real Test oftriumph is being able to triumph

(03:22):
when you are going through thesickness, when you are in it.
The key or the test oftriumphing in terrible circumstances,
in pain, in adversecircumstances is being able to triumph
as you are going through thepainful circumstance, the painful

(03:43):
marriage, the painfulrelationship with your child, the
painful situation at your job.
That's the test.
The test, triumphing insickness and in adverse situations
is being able to have the joyof the Lord while you're going through
the sicknesses and whileyou're even death, okay, Conquering

(04:06):
death, triumphing over deathis going through death knowing by
faith that you have a new lifethat is waiting for you in Jesus
Christ.
And that reminds me of when mymother was passing away.
I think I've said this on thispodcast before.
I lost both of my parents andboth of them pretty quite sudden.

(04:28):
My dad faster than my mom.
But watching my mother gothrough the process of dying and
how that woman had praise onher mouth.
She had faith until her last breath.
And she would always say, evenwhen she couldn't remember all her
words, she would say, jesus isspirit and life.

(04:51):
Jesus is spirit and life.
Jesus is spirit and life.
She had a smile on her faceuntil the day that she was gone.
She had faith watching myfather until the day of his last
breath, saying, and havingfaith in God, believing for his healing,
being positive.
So that is the test.

(05:11):
When you are able to gothrough affliction, when you are
able to go through pain and atthe same time triumph, at the same
time experience the power ofGod, at the same time experience
the joy of the Lord.
Believe me, there is a powerthat can make us victors in our pain,

(05:32):
okay?
And that power comes fromJesus Christ.
It comes from God.
There is a power that can makeyou an overcomer and make you triumphant
in the battle, in the pain,There are heights that you can reach.
And then when you look backand you can say, oh, my Lord, the

(05:53):
Lord helped me to triumph.
The Lord helped me to overcome.
Okay?
We see an example of this onthe cross.
When Jesus triumphed overdeath, Jesus triumphed in his pain.
Jesus triumphed in his suffering.
He triumphed over humiliation.
Always speaking of the Father, always pointing to the Father while

(06:16):
he was going through thatpain, that humiliation, he was able
to triumph.
So that's the test for us.
That is the test.
Once you're going through theaffliction, once you're going through
the pain, can you remain inthe position of joy?
Can you remain in victorious?

(06:36):
Can you remain as a conquerorand an overcomer in Jesus.
