In this episode of Queer & Far, friend, comedian, and fellow podcaster Javann Jones from the Frown Town Podcast discusses their experience living and working in Korea while Black. Javann highlights the opportunity to broaden one's perspectives and challenge the American narrative while living abroad. They mention the importance of experiencing criticism of America from other countries and the value of being in a city like Seoul for access to amenities and services. Javann talks about his positive work-life balance, the convenience of living near their school, and the ability to travel easily within Korea. He also touches on cultural encounters as a minority, acknowledging that curiosity and lack of exposure may lead to unusual encounters but not taking offense to them. Javann's experience in Korea has been enriching and eye-opening, providing him with a unique perspective on culture, capitalism, and education that we are excited to share with you all. Full disclosure, Sharmane didn't hit record at first and missed out on a good 25 minutes of talk time that we had to recreate BUT it was lovely talking to J and gave us a lot of insight of what to look for when teaching English in Korea.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
