When life throws curveballs, how do you catch them? Let's unravel the enthralling tale of transformational coach Carlton Young, or CY, and his journey of resilience and triumph. Together, we explore how he turned his trials into a testimony, empowering men to unearth their God-given purpose. From the shadows of a near-fatal shooting to the illumination of a Kingdom mindset, CY's story is not just his own—it's a beacon for anyone searching for identity and impact, a narrative that diminishes the path to despair and champions the pursuit of a life with Christ at the helm.

Embarking on a podcast was never in my playbook, yet here I am, Keanu, once an aspiring athlete turned mouthpiece for the Almighty. 'The Genesis: A Renaissance of Manhood' emerged from a whisper to a roar, a call to revive the blueprint of authentic manhood as intended by our Creator. This season, we dissect the essence of male motivation, the strength found in unity, and how the act of sharing our spiritual walk can ignite a collective fire. It's a tale of heeding the call, the symbiosis of dream and mission, and the fellowship that binds us in faith and purpose.

But what's a vision without allies, a journey without companionship? We discuss the linchpin of partnerships, the art of strategic alignments, and the profound impact of consistently placing trust in the Lord. The path is strewn with challenges, yet it's our unyielding resolve and the support of our brethren that propel us forward. We wrap this season with a heart full of gratitude, a reminder of the transformative power we hold, together, as a community of believers. Tune in as we share insights and experiences that promise to keep you spiritually en vogue and steadfast in your faith walk.

(00:29):

united, educated, understanding, excited and determined for what
Christ has for us, while we arewaiting for his return.
Okay, I am so excited todayabout this and if you don't know

(00:49):
who I am, I am Keanu, yourcreator and your host of
Q4Christ, and I want to just saythank you to everyone that has
been here day one, day one wheremy day one is, and I'm so
excited that you have been herewith me.
But I am so excited that thisis the third season of success

(01:11):
on purpose and I'm so excited tohave my guests on here.
That is, that is the open up.
Is that, is that the word forit?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
The open up, oh no.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
He's the start of the new season and I'm so excited
to have transformational coachCarlton Young, CY, as they would
call him on here.
How are you tonight, CY?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'm doing amazing.
I am excited to be here again.
You're right.
I appreciate the opportunity tocome aboard and share with you
on this journey of being cutefor Christ, and I'm just looking
forward to the conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
And hey, man, and notice, he said again, let me
tell you he was on my panel andwe talked about mislabeled,
mislabeling seasons and man, that was such a powerful,
powerful hour.
If you haven't watched it, goback and watch it, because I

(02:14):
guarantee it is going to blessyou in that especially, whatever
season that you are in is goingto bless you, because you know
CY gave us some good advice.
You know so, alone witheverybody, else so anyway, I
just want you to kind of justtell everybody who you are, tell

(02:34):
the audience who you are, because I, when I, when I met
you and I want to just tell alittle bit, we are Bible you
members, bible you, which is aprogram that Pasadena has where
we strengthen our life with theBible, and I did not know that,

(02:54):
but I just came across your pageand then finally I was like, oh
, we all in by with you.
So I'm excited to be able tosit with a fellow Bible you
member, and on top of that, youknow, your story is just
impeccable.
So could you just tell us alittle bit about who CY is, that

(03:15):
way everybody can know who youare.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yes, I'd be delighted to do that.
So my name is Carlton Young,I'm a country boy from Alabama
and you know today is a sad dayfor all Alabama because Nick's
saving retired.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Oh, my God One of those days.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
But no, I'm from originally from Birmingham,
alabama, going to my mom hername is Elizabeth Young a
teenage unwed mother whoeventually got married around I
think when I was about four theman that I called my father
passed away, went off into themilitary, traveled the world a

(03:54):
little bit, been overseas, wentto Montana, came back to
Birmingham, finished school, went off to college, alabama A&M
grow dogs left after mysophomore year, went to the
military, joined the military, served six years in the military
.
In the military I ended upgetting shot at Point Blaine

(04:15):
Range In 1995, january 15, 1995,actually it's coming up on the
anniversary.
It'll be 19 years this year.
Survived that, got out tomilitary, worked, moved to Texas
, dallas, texas, been here eversince and just been a man who

(04:39):
God has marked frompredestination and somebody who
I call myself had a Jonas seasonfor the majority of my
adulthood ran from that callingforever.
But God is always going to winin the end.
He knows how to get yourattention.
I'm just a man that has akingdom mindset.

(05:00):
I'm a father, I'm a son, I'm ahusband, I'm a friend.
I'm several things, severaldifferent people, but at the
crux of the matter I am just aman who believes in God knows
that God is real.

(05:20):
I'm here for a reason.
I'm here to share the good news, and my goal, as a man of the
kingdom, is to help other menrealize who they are in God,
where they belong in God, helpgive them and equip them with
the tools to become who Goddesired them to be, so we can

(05:41):
possibly make an impact on theworld and in cancel many
reservations that held aspossible.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Amen.
I didn't ever heard like thatreservation to hell, like that
is just so deep when you thinkabout it.
You know most people don't wantto think about making
reservations to a bad place, butlike man, wow, that was like,
oh, my goodness.
And when you say that you havebeen shocked, you know, I always

(06:14):
you know.
On the last point, if you justwant to tell a little bit about
that testimony, then hey, Iwould love for you to tell a
little bit about that testimonybecause you know that right
there just shows how you wereable to light your purpose here
on earth.
So if you want to just tell alittle bit about that, you know

(06:34):
you can give us the water downversion.
That would be good.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
OK, yeah, I don't have a problem with that.
So basically, I was shot atPoint Blank range friendly fire
for the Texas Ended up in thehospital that night, right.
So it was January 14th.
Going into the 15th, young mangetting ready to go hang out at
the club down in Fort Hood, texas, kaleen, texas, hanging

(07:01):
out doing what you know mostyoung, vibrant men do you know?
At home I shared with a coupleof my military buddies, headed
out, ended up getting, like Isaid, shot in friendly fire.
Point Blank range went throughtwo, no three, surgeries One
there for the initial surgery.

(07:21):
Second one is to remove a bloodclot in the lung.
They had to go back in and getit, get it again because they
didn't get it all the way out.
Spent about a month in thehospital, just a.
You know, a life changing eventthat God brought me through.

(07:42):
I really shouldn't be here.
The doctor was still in awethat I made it out of that
situation.
He's like I don't understandhow you are alive, but but God
right.
And so it was just.
You know, I had a praying momor praying dad, and I vividly

(08:02):
remember coming out of a medicalinduced coma from surgery and
looking up and seeing my dadsitting there with his Bible,
praying and speaking in tongues.
I didn't know what was going on.
I just woke up and saw alltypes of tubes.
I had morphine where I couldactually hit it every time.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I got a pain in the head.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, I could just intravenously, you know, do it
myself All kinds of tubes.
I actually still have scars andmarks on me from where the
tubes were stuck into me.
Spend them about a month in thehospital, Get out and there the
story begins, right.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Hey man, so I look in a thing about it I love for it
to hear stories like that, because I was in working in the
emergency room and I've seen alot of gunshot wounds and I've
seen, you know, I've experiencedhaving to do CPR on gunshot

(09:06):
wounds where they didn't make itor you know, and stuff like
that, and to hear your testimonyis just like wow.
You know, if I was stillworking in the emergency room, I
would probably probably be intears just to know that you
survived.
So that's amazing within itself.
So well, thank you, thank you, thank you for being here.

(09:27):
All right, you guys, I am goingto say a quick prayer before we
go into this interview, andbecause we always want to be
able to bring the presence ofthe Holy Spirit in here, and I
just want you, and then we'll goright into the message.
Ok, dear Heavenly Father, I cometo you first off.

(09:48):
I want to say thank you forthis time that you have carved
out for us, god, to be able toallow your son to be able to let
the world know who he is.
God, god, we thank you now forhis life.
God, thank you now for keepinghim here, god, where he can be
here in this moment, in thistime, so someone can be able to

(10:10):
know that they can still make it.
Hallelujah.
We want to thank you now, god,for what you have done in his
life.
We thank you now for therepresentation that he is here
for his podcast, the reference, the representation that he is
here for his family, hischildren, his wife.
God, we thank you now forcovering him and everything that

(10:31):
he touches.
Turn to go, god.
So we thank you now, god.
We want you to hide us behindthe cross and allow your word to
go out and go forth to someoneon today.
God, we thank you now.
We love you, god, we honor youand we cherish you.
It's in Jesus' name that I pray.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
All right, I'm a prayer warrior.
Ok, I love it.
I love it.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
So, anyways, I just want to say just, I want you to
just kind of give us a quickglimpse of when you were a child
, and did you expect for you tobe able to be doing what you are
doing now, and what did youwant to do when you was a child?

Speaker 2 (11:18):
No, first of all.
No, no, no, I was bad, I wasreally bad.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Oh, my goodness.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
To the point where my mom was got to a point where
whooping me didn't do any good.
So what she would do is shewould actually make me read
books and write book reports.
Wow, you know it's paying offnow, because I know how to read
and research.
So you know everything got meas a master plan right.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
So, but no.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I never thought that I would be where I'm at now.
What I wanted to do was be aprofessional football player.
I played football and baseball.
I was pretty decent in both ofthem.
I wanted to go to college andplay football Didn't work out.
So you know, I never in amillion years thought I would be
on a platform using the gift ofcommunication that God has

(12:10):
instilled in me Because one Ireally.
I never thought that I was likethis eloquent speaker, right,
like I don't feel like I use allthose extravagant words and I'm
not a word smith, but forwhatever reason, whatever God
put in me, it works and I'mgrateful for it.
So, no, I did not expect to behere, but you know, I'm glad

(12:33):
that God chose me, because itcould have been several other
ways, right?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Amen, amen.
And you know, like I often say,we have to be quicken for a lot
of the stuff that we are doing, and that's one reason why God
gave me that acronym and thequicken.
And you know, one of themeanings is to give or to
restore vigor, or to stir up.

(12:58):
Okay, and one of the scripturesthat always come to mind when
it comes to being quicken to dothe things that we are doing is
second Timothy, 1.67.
Therefore, I remind you to stirup the gift of God which is in
your through the laying on of myhands.

(13:19):
And verse seven say for God hasnot given us the spirit of fear
, but the power of love and ofsound mind.
So when you started your podcast, what inside of you?
Just say you know what, this iswhat I'm gonna do, this is what
I'm going to offer to men, because a lot of people don't

(13:40):
realize that men really needthat motivation.
You know, coming from anotherman that has gone through
different experience, so whatreally?
Just kind of quicken you tojust say you know what.
I'm gonna start this and gowith it.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Honestly, it's a quaint set of minds that I met
through another friend at aconference in Atlanta called the
Panoramic Experience.
It's a diversity, equity andinclusion conference.
Back in September I was one ofthe keynote speakers.
So we met beforehand doing likethe pre-work, getting ready to

(14:19):
prep before the conference, andso we would talk often and we
just started kind of talking.
This guy's name is Lee and ashe was interviewing me and kind
of getting my backstory so hecan get all the marketing and
ready for the conference, he waslike man, you should do a
podcast.
I'm like I don't wanna do nopodcast, don't nobody wanna

(14:41):
listen to me.
But you know, in the midst ofthat, see, you know, obedience
is better than sacrifice right.
And so God told me to start aMorning Men's Bible study that I
do bi-weekly, like we just hadthis morning at 6.30 am for men.
So I put it out there to acouple of my friends.

(15:01):
You know, first day we hadabout three or four people and
we've been growing and itfluctuates from anywhere from 15
to 25 men every week.
I mean every other week at 6.30in the morning.
And so God began to open up tome that this my assignment was

(15:22):
to help men like me.
Right, I've a gazillionmistakes in my life, been making
mistakes.
You know, it's like I learnedone lesson and then I fall in
another pitch and have to learnanother lesson.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
God began to deal with me and say men need this
right.
So the podcast that we startedis called the Genesis.
So it's basically it's calledthe Genesis a Renaissance of
manhood.
So we wanna take it back to thebeginning, when God the
original intent of what Goddesigned man to be, which is to

(15:56):
be, you know, the priest, theprophet, the king of his home.
We were designed to be fruitful, to multiply, to subdue and
dominate.
So this is like some of thethings that I tell my guys that
are in my Bible study group.
We have a group it's calledFaith Nation.
So that's what we talk about inFaith Nation is men.

(16:16):
So it just became a drivingforce of validation.
Like I felt like I was doingsomething that God wanted me to
do, and as I began to be moreobedient to God, he began to
open up more doors for me.
So I finally said, okay, let'sgo ahead with the podcast.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
So we started working on that and here we are you
know, wow, that's so amazingbecause you know, like you say,
this is something that youprobably wouldn't have thought
about doing, and to be able tobring other men and to show them
that, okay, look, this is whatI did and you know.

(16:59):
And now this is where I'mheaded to, and I love that.
What you said about the genesis, that go back to the beginning,
you know, because that's whereit all starts from and that's
where we all know that.
That's where God has put theman in head, and so in order for
us to be able to do that, weneed somebody like you.

(17:21):
You know what I'm saying.
I thank you for that.
I'm for real, like.
I don't even know to me andthat's on your face, but I know
that it's impacting the worldand that's the main thing right
there.
So, but you know, like when youstarted, did you ever have to
unite with someone to learn moreabout the joint podcasting?

(17:46):
You know, we know that unitemeans to join together and you
know, and I always have ascripture with these and
Ephesians one and ten say, as aplan for the fullness of time,
to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on
the earth.
So we want to unite with eachother, and so was it.

(18:08):
Did you, when you decided andwhen God had quickened in you
and said, okay, this is whatyou're going to do, did you have
to unite with someone to justkind of show you the ropes or
show you the way, or was it justsomething that you researched?

Speaker 2 (18:24):
No, I had to unite with me, unite with somebody.
The gentleman I spoke about,he's actually my podcast
producer, so he produces thepodcast for us.
And also I believe it was I waslistening to TD Jakes or
somebody, and I heard it before, but this particular time TD

(18:45):
Jakes had said it and it justresonated with me and what he
said was if your dream onlyrequires you, then your dream is
not big enough and you are notwhere God wants you to be.
So that was like an epiphanyfor me, because I was trying to
do every little nook and crannymyself and again the podcast was
really more of him coming to me, presenting it to me, thinking

(19:09):
that you know, I had somethingtangible and something
worthwhile to say to men in myage bracket and young and older.
So, yeah, we joined in, unitingtogether, and so that's my
mindset now is that, whateverI'm doing, if it only requires
me, then that dream is not bigenough.
That's not an exceedinglyabundantly more than I can

(19:31):
actually imagine.
That's what I can see right now.
Right, but we gotta have thatanyhow faith right, that
expanded, that extensive faiththat we are putting God to the
test because we're doing whathe's saying and now he has to
respond to what we're doing, because the thing I do know
about God, if you honor hisprinciples and you do what he

(19:54):
says, he has no choice but tohonor his word.
So if you're, told you to dosomething.
You're obedient and you're inthe word.
You can go to that word and sayGod, you said in the word X, y,
z, and he's gonna hasten to doit because he said his word is
not gonna return to him void.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
He's gonna accomplish what it was sent to do.
So that's my mindset andanything that I'm doing now.
It has to be some type ofpartnership, strategic alignment
, something, because none of uscan get what we want to on our
own, and God will place peoplein the path that allow you to
help you to accomplish themission that he's given you in

(20:33):
order for you to reach andimpact the kingdom.
And that's what, ultimately,what's about.
Is you reaching and impactingthe kingdom?
Because we all have a spirit ofpeople that I believe we're
assigned to.
So you're a metron or yourgroup of people.
They don't resonate with me, soI can't worry about what your
people are doing, but I have mycore group of people.

(20:55):
There's over eight billionpeople in the world.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
We all have a circle of influence.
Exactly exactly.
You know, and we all have, like, our purpose, our own purpose,
our own calling, but we all area part of the body of Christ and
if we're not doing what wesupposed to do, there's somebody
that we were supposed to reachis lacking and we have to make

(21:18):
sure that we are, like you said, connecting with people and
uniting with people and doingthat, because if you're not
doing that, then guess what?
Your dream is not as big as youknow.
You're not even thinking aboutthe people that you're trying to
reach.
You know, and you said, I mean, one thing that we have to do is

(21:40):
we have to make sure that weconnect with people that are on
the same journey and thosepeople that you know you don't
want people that are pulling youdown, you don't want people
that are holding you back.
You want to make sure thatthose people are there for that
purpose or on that same type ofjourney.
You know, and that's big for me, because I'm, you know, I'm in

(22:04):
this season where I'm creatingthose boundaries.
If you ain't talking about this, then you need to go that way,
you know, because I can't bepulled away from my calling.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
So one thing that the thing about that is, if you, as
you get deeper in growing withGod and your prayer life and you
get in your word like he, yourantennas will be heightened
right, your senses, your senseof spirit is heightened.
So God will put the people inproximity that you need to be
and then proximate to where hewants you to go.
And that's the beautiful thing,is like you got people that can

(22:38):
help you in his current season.
And then God will show yousomebody that can help you get
to the next level and that nextstep up the ladder.
But then he'll also allowsomething to happen to move a
person out of place that doesn'tneed to be in place.
And the thing about it is wehave to listen to what God is
telling us.
When our spirit is giving usthose vibes, we have to pay

(23:01):
attention.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Amen, that is so true .
Now, is that anybody that youhad to just kind of like cut off
and just be like no, youinvaded my space, I'm trying to
get where, or did you like allthe time have somebody
surrounding you like that?

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I've had some pretty decent people around me because
I try to put good energy outthere, so to speak.
So sewing and reaping is reallybig for me, right.
The law of sewing, the law ofreaping whatever you sow, you
don't know that what you reap isgonna be multiplied.
So I always try to put goodenergy, good karma, out in the

(23:43):
world, right.
And so sometimes God would justlike in this past season, it's
like God isolated me, right.
It's like he was giving mestuff, he was downloading stuff,
he was working on me, so a lotof the things that my partners,
my fraternity brothers, theywould wanna catch up.
I just didn't have the desireto do it.
So just by just not beingaround is like attrition by

(24:07):
absence.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Right.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
And so those people?
We don't have no issues, butjust we're in a different space
in life.
And so you know where I'm at andyou know where I'm going, and I
know where you're at and I knowwhere you're going.
Look, I love you to life.
But I'm not going to veermyself off, of course, to just
to hang with you, just to sayI'm hanging with you, because

(24:32):
the one thing I do know, whatever you hang around, is
what you will become.
Oh, that doesn't mean thatthey're bad people, right, but I
know it's seasoned in my life.
You know, like I think youposted about Pastor Darius like
I can't continue to missopportunities in season because
I am not wise enough tounderstand that this is not the

(24:53):
road that I need to go down.
Right, I've been down at onetime, two times, three times.
If I go down to four, five, six, now that's crazy and that
tells me that I'm not growingand elevating as a man.
So for me, this season is justwhere I'm going, what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
people against the colleague remove themselves by
Right, right, and, and and youknow, like I said, it don't mean
that they bad people, it justmean that we are all different
journeys, period, you know.
And that's, and that's onething that I had to learn.
I really had to, you know, kindof consecrate myself, because

(25:30):
even sometimes family members, you know, would kind of be like,
oh you know, let's go do this, this, this, and I'm like I need
to do this, let's go do this, this, this, and I'm like, no, I
need to, I need to sit here.
And one thing that you saidwhen God isolated you, and and
that's that's what lead me intomy next point, which is talking

(25:53):
about educating ourselves, because, being being in
isolation, we are reallydownloading what God is trying
to get to us.
He's trying to educate us onwhat we need to do.
He's trying to give us thatnext move, that next level.
And you know, I always give thescripture, ecclesiastes seven
and 12, for the protection ofwisdom is like the protection of

(26:16):
money, and the advantage ofknowledge is that wisdom
preserves the life of him whohas it.
So when God just brings us tothat point where we're educating
ourselves on how God wants usto move and how he, what he
wants us to do in this seasonand getting that download.

(26:37):
How did that look for you when, when, like you said, god had
kind of isolated you, did youjust like, really just yeah,
because I know me, I'm a, I'm aprayer warrior, I'm getting here
and I'm a be in my room and I'mjust going to be like, okay,
god, and listening to God, butdid you have to do like any more
kind of educating yourself onpodcasting or just coaching or

(27:01):
taking any classes, or what didyou do in that moment?

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Well, one thing God told me through my mom.
We were talking one day and we,me and my mom, we talk every
day about, you know, God, theBible, the word.
We're just talking about stuff, right, and I was just telling
her some of the things that weredropping to my spirit and she
said, son, go get you a notebook, carry with you everywhere you

(27:26):
go, have a pen, write it down.
So I'm like, okay, here you gotright.
So I got the notebook.
This is just one of them.
It goes with me.
It goes with me everywhere I go.
Awesome, and so if I'msomewhere and God dropped
something in my spirit, I writeit down.
And then what I typically do ismy first hour of the day that I

(27:48):
get up is my time to, to, totalk to God as prayer, read my
word, do my study, and and thenyou know, I go about my day
before I look at my phone beforeI do anything.
So just in this season he'sbeen doing this and I've
literally filled up about twonotebooks.
I will probably fill up aboutfive to six pages a day.

(28:09):
And then in the evening, instead of watching TV, I'll
come, I'll read a book.
He'll give me my drop ofscripture in my spirit.
I'm going to get the scripture, study it, you know, run the
references to make sure that I,you know, I understand what he's
giving me.
And so I'm just taking thosedownloads as he drops them in my

(28:30):
spirit, like he is, like he'ssaying okay, I'm going to get
you ready for this season oflife because I'm giving you so
much that you're going to haveto, you're going to have to to
put it out at some point in timebecause if not you will burst.
So that's what I've been doingjust being intentional, being
consistent, right.
Consistency compounds when youshow God that you can be

(28:53):
consistent.
He said, if you be faithfulover a few things, I'll make you
rule over many.
But here's the lack of people, that scripture that we forget.
At the end of that scripture hesays and come and enjoy the
master's pleasure, good pleasure.
So if you can do the littlethings that God is assigning you
and that you say you won't, ifyou can be consistent with that,

(29:14):
god does, like we do, addition, god does exponential
multiplication.
So he sees you being faithfulover a few things and he's about
to put this formula on whatyou're doing, and then I'm going
to blow it up.
So I just been trying to beconsistent, right?
Because, remember, thisdiscipline is the ability to do
things when there is nomotivation.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Amen.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
So discipline and consistency compound right, and
discipline is actually themotherhood of genius A lot of
people.
They're just consistent withwhat they're doing.
So just being consistent in myroutine as far as it relates to
being intentional about spendingtime with God, Right, right,

(29:57):
and that's one of the thingsthat I usually say is by
consistently working.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
We are successful on purpose, by consistently working
and the backing of God, and sowe, you know, when you say that
we have to be consistent, thatword resonate with me all the
time because, you know, eversince I started this, I, you
know, went through a whole yearof just healing.

(30:25):
I had to go through a healingprocess because I went through a
divorce and I had to go througha healing process, and then God
was depositing this andeducating me on this, and this
is how you do this and this ishow you do that, which, further,
you know, I got anunderstanding of everything.
And so when he gave me all ofthat, he gave me that

(30:46):
understanding.
You know, like I said, theproper 16 to 16, how much better
to get wisdom than gold, oh mygoodness.
So we have to know that onceyou get that understanding, then
now God is, god, is going toshow you things that you'd be
like oh my goodness, you takingme there, god, okay, and it just

(31:09):
opened up that you know youreyes, your spiritual eyes, more
so than anything, and that's onething that I have to, you know,
realize that God always, alwaysbring it back to me after he
done deposit this.
You know, gave me thiseducation, I know red, I know
being in devotion, I know beingin this, and he will bring it

(31:29):
back to sometime the same day, that confirmation.
I'm always getting confirmation, and so that's a beautiful
thing, right?
I mean, I'd be so excitedbecause I'm a very dramatic and
ecstatic person, but sometimes Ijust be like, oh my God, and my
kids will look at me like mama, like, like honey, you know,

(31:53):
like I know, that's what I haveto say.
So, doing this time, have therebeen any time where you didn't
fully understand what God wasdoing in your life?
Like you know, I know we talkedabout the seasons and sometimes
we didn't understand it.
But doing this time, like didyou when you got to that point,

(32:17):
and how did you handle it whenit came to that point where you,
like God, I really don'tunderstand, but what did you do
in that moment?
So you know, to bring you backto that understanding that God
is working?

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Yeah, you know, you're bound to have those
moments, right, because we don'tunderstand his ways.
Our thoughts are not histhoughts and our ways are not
his way.
So you're always going to havea moment where you don't
understand what God is doing.
Where he's taking you is hisrhyme or his reason.
But I think at this point in mylife, right, I've been through
so much, so many obstacles andevery time I look around, god

(32:55):
brought me out of that right.
God did right.
I went through that, but Goddid deliver.
So I just that, god being adeliverer in every instance of
my life.
he's always shown himself to bestrong whenever I need him.
It might not be exactly when Iwant him, but he always came
through and I just you know.
I think at this point in mylife you just have to get to a

(33:17):
place where you just trust God,right, and you've tried
everything on your own.
You've tried to make thingswork, because there were certain
lanes and certain avenues thatI wanted to go down and I felt
like I had a good skill set forhim.
I had, you know, a good, good, good market for it, but it just
never worked the way I wanted itto work.

(33:37):
And so, finally, god was likeif you do what I want you to do,
then I'll do what you want meto do.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
Amen.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
And so I just said you know what?
Hey, you know, at some pointyou just have to surrender and
understand that you there's noway around what God has for you,
right?
It's like like, so it's hard tokick against the prick.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Right, right, and and and.
Like you say, you know, we, weare going to go through those
moments where we just be likeGod.
You know, I'm gonna tell youone story I moved, I just moved
in Atlanta, september the 15th,and I was like God, I was doing
good.
I had my own radio show, youknow, like it wasn't big, it

(34:22):
wasn't, you know, this huge typefirst, but I had everything.
You know, I was good and Godsaid no, I need you to go there.
And I'm like God, and I didn'tfully understand until we were
right before we did the thing.
I understood what season that Iwas in is that?
that building and growing seasonand I was like, oh, this is why

(34:45):
, okay, god, and now you know, then, once I did that, I got so
excited that I was like ready togo.
So when you get thatunderstanding, when do do, how
excited did you get when you getthat understanding that that
you fully counted.
When I say fully, but you kindof got to got in your spirit

(35:07):
what God was doing in your life.
How did you accept thatexcitement?

Speaker 2 (35:12):
I mean it's like finally, like I feel like I'm
finally where I belong, doingwhat I've been called to do, and
it just gives you a sense offulfillment, right, and it's
like I see the vision.
And they said God is, everyvision that you have is a vision
of what God wants to give foryou, or what he already has for
you If you do the work that herequires of you.

(35:34):
And so I would see the vision.
And so I started to get excitedbecause one forgot to use me in
any space is, is, is, is crazyto begin with, because I'm just
this head that that made agazillion mistakes, like I said,
and it might make a mistaketomorrow, because you know I'm

(35:55):
flawed, just like everybody else.
But for God, even think enoughof me to say I'm going to take
you and use you and make yousomething Now because, like I
told you, I come from a notknowing my biological father,
right, and I dealt with thoseissues of acceptance and wanting
to fit in and wanting to peopleto like me or gravitate towards

(36:19):
me, because that bucket wasn'tfilled, even though my step dad
was there and he did an amazingjob.
That still holds in my heart, right.
So just to deal with that andto get to the point to say God
is saying I took you through allthat for you to help somebody
else, to make you stronger andto let you know that I've been

(36:41):
with you every step of the way.
And he says you know what hesays.
You may not.
John 13 and seven says you maynot understand, but soon you
will.
So when that point that youunderstand why God did
everything that he did becausesometimes things are not for you
there, for somebody else.
Right, it takes you throughthat.
And so when you get to thepoint where you understand who

(37:01):
God wants you to be and what hewants you to do, you are being
selfish if you don't open yourmouth or do that thing that God
has asked you to do, becausesomebody else's deliverance and
breakthrough is hinging on youopening your mouth, or you
writing that book, or you doingpodcasts, or you, you know,
writing that blog.
Somebody needs to hear what yougot to say, or you have to

(37:24):
offer, and so you have to get itout right.
Because one thing I do know theenemy cannot stop what God put
in you, but he can stop me fromputting it out.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Right, wow, wow, now, that is so deep right there
because he can't stop you.
I mean, I don't know, but I wasthinking about what Kat
Williams said enemy can't createnothing, you know Right, and we
be sitting there and we givehim so much power that he really

(37:57):
don't have.
And the thing about like, Itell people all the time the
enemy, all he can do is justwhisper in your ear, like he did
with he.
All he can do is just all he cando is whisper in your ear and
that right there.
If you can get him out of yourear and deal with that inner

(38:19):
person, the enemy, you know andnot worried about the enemy then
, everything you will be able torun and continue to do what God
has you to do.
Like you know, the last one isdetermined.
We have to be determined and so, being determined, we have to
make sure that we get that enemyout of our ear and say, you

(38:41):
know what, I am determined toget to my goal.
I am determined to get to whereGod want me to get to, because,
first off, he didn't even haveto choose me, because like you
say you was a.
I'm gonna use your words.
You say you was a knucklehead.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Right.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
So, but you know, I had my silly season where I
wanted to do what I wanted to do.
You know I didn't want tolisten to God.
You know, ask him, okay, god, what to do?
No, I wanted.
I felt like, you know, I feltlike I had control over
everything.
And you know they say if youwant, if you want God to laugh,

(39:17):
tell him your, tell him yourplans.
And I had plans, trust me, Ihad plans.
So what keeps you determined todo what you are doing and to
continue to keep going?
Because I know certain days itprobably you probably just be
like, okay, I don't feel, like Ijust want to let it be, that's

(39:38):
me, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
I'm definitely understand.
What keeps me going is knowingthat there's an opportunity and
there's an effectual door openthat God has opened for me to
step through.
And you have to understand thatlife is going to life, right,
you either gonna deal with itand allow God to lead and guide

(40:04):
you or you're gonna let lifelife and beat you down and then
we, like we just talked aboutnow, you're off track because
the enemy the Bible, says we'renot ignorant to these devices.
Right, it uses the same ontricks.
He doesn't have any othertricks.
So if you can keep trick, tripping me up on a lack of
follow through or lack ofexecution, then what do I expect

(40:26):
?
What do I often say withexpectation needs to be
execution behind it.
Wow.
So I know that if God has thesethings for me and I believe
what the word says and it'salready there, right, it's
predestined, it's not I'm givingit to you, it's there for the

(40:46):
taking.
You or myself have to get tothe point where God says I can
trust Carlton with what I'mabout to give him and he won't
turn his head away from me or hewon't get the big head.
So now I can let him have it.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Right.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
It's not.
If I trust God, it God cantrust me.
So that will keep me going.
And I want to hear him say welldone that.
Good and faithful servant,right.
Yes, At the end of the day, that's what it's really about.
It's like the afterlife, right?
The Bible says I press towardsthe mark of a high calling in
Christ Jesus, and let us bemature in how we think as it

(41:25):
relates to pressing towards thatmark right.
It says we haven't attainedmeans you haven't grasped a
holder to it yet, so you have tokeep pressing towards that mark
right.
And then the other thing thatkeeps me going is actually the
fruits of the spirit.
People don't understand thatone of the fruits of the spirit
is self-discipline, Right, Right.
So the fruits of the spirit islove, joy, peace, patience,

(41:48):
goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
Self-control.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
That's the word.
That's Galatians 5, 22 and 23.
So if I'm cultivating the HolySpirit with it which is inside
of me, right, and that's one ofthe lessons that we that's the
lesson that I taught my groupthis morning is called Spiritual
Fit Camp.
That was the title of today'slesson.
So we talked about, you know, pressing towards the mark of a
high calling, and we talkedabout Second Timothy 2 and 5,

(42:17):
where it says not only that, excuse me, not only that, but we
rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces
endurance and endurance producescharacter, and character
produces hope, and hope does notput us to shame, because God's
love has been poured into ourhearts through the Holy Spirit
who has been given to us.
So again, suffering producesendurance.

(42:40):
Endurance produces character,character, produces faith.
So you see how the word is justtying together so that me not
wanting to do or me goingthrough, that's producing
endurance.
And I know that God hasn'texpected into me.
I'm just stupid enough tobelieve what he says.

(43:01):
So I want everything that Godhas for me on earth.
I'm not one of them that wantto wait until we get to that new
heaven or the new earth orwherever we're gonna be together
with God, I want what's in meright here.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
Exactly exactly, and that's what I'm telling you.
That's my determination.
That's why I say, you know, cuefor Christ, because I want what
he got from me on earth.
I know I'm gonna get what I'mgonna get.
I ain't worried about that.
I know I'm gonna get that, butI want what I'm gonna get now,
like you know, because you knowwe can, like PD say, we can live

(43:43):
, sink and thrive.
I mean sink and thrive.
And one thing that I want to dowith us I want to be thriving
this year.
I don't.
I want to be thriving my hopefor the rest of my life.
Okay, so you know, I feel likeyou cover everything.

(44:03):
I was gonna ask you what wasthe biggest challenge that you
have faced throughout this wholetime of trying to even motivate
people.
I know you do a motivationalwhere people post their
exercises.
I said I would go try to do it.
I ain't even gonna tell themstuff, but what are some of the

(44:27):
biggest challenges that you havefaced being in the podcast
world?

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Honestly, it's getting people to believe in
themselves and to understand, toget people to understand that
the way you view yourself is theway that you view God.
So if you view yourself as lessthan not enough, you don't
trust God to get you out ofevery situation.
So, you know, I often say, likeyou say, transformational.

(44:57):
I'm very big on you know, berenewed, be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, becausethat is actually where you are
actually going to be able tomake some inroads and become who
you desire to be.
Right.
Right, why you think Paul saysbe renewed by the transforming
of your mind, because if you'renot, you're gonna, the enemy is

(45:19):
gonna use that as a basis tokeep you bound, right.
And so if you, if I can't getyou to understand who you are,
who's you are and you'rerightful place in God's kingdom
on earth, that's the biggestthing, right?
Because you see it, all thetime there's a mindset of lack,

(45:43):
there's a mindset of not enough,there's a mindset of I'm not
good enough right Right.
But I want them to see if Godcan take me and you me and get
me to the places I've been andthe things that.
I've done from where.
I come from.
God is not a respected person.
He can use anybody.

(46:03):
You just have to open yourselfup and allow him to use you,
because that's one thing I doknow God is not gonna use you
and not reward you for allowingyou to use him.
I'm not for allowing you to beused by him.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Right, Amen, amen.
Well, I feel like you have doneit.
If you have any advice that youwould leave to the listening
audience, that just beingconsistent or trying to make
sure that you stay in the rightmind and right fame frame of

(46:37):
mind if you have any advice thatyou would like to leave to the
audience, that will be so great.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
Yeah, most definitely .
Remember.
It takes faith to step intoyour destiny.
Control what you can control.
You can control how you react, what you do and the effort you
put forth to where you wanna go.
Everything is really all on you.
God is giving you the keys tothe kingdom.

(47:05):
Use the keys to become who youwant to become.
And it starts with just puttinga day behind the day, behind the
day behind the day, so youworry about the day.
You finish the day.
You be fruitful.
You multiply.
You should do and dominate.
Today you wake up.
Tomorrow you do the same thing.

(47:26):
You be fruitful.
Multiply, so do and dominate.
Whatever God gives you.
Multiply it, that informationhe gives you.
Multiply it.
Subdu your flesh and dominatein the space that God wants you
to be.
And just remember that thecemetery is the richest place on
earth.
Don't let your dreams and youraspirations be in the cemetery

(47:54):
with you and the rest of thecrew.
Get what God has for you.
It's yours for the taking ifyou change your mindset.
So the last thing I wanna tellyour audience is to master your
mindset.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
It's so good, oh, my goodness.
I'm sitting up here, you know, cause I know I've heard that
about the cemetery being therichest place, and it's just
every time I hear that it justoh, oh, my goodness.
Well, y'all heard it.
Y'all heard it.
Y'all heard it from myth.
To see why I'm so excited, Iwant you to let everybody know

(48:35):
where they can reach you at, andif you want to just say a quick
prayer, I will love that.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
Okay, most of them will definitely can do that so
they can reach me on, excuse me.

your word, just to believe inthe principles that you've laid
out for us and let them knowthat they are more than enough,
that they are fearfully andwonderfully made, that there's
an affirmation, father.
Affirm them through your word.
On a daily basis, those thatare going through feel like they

(50:30):
wanna give up.
Father, give them a glimpse ofwhat you have for them.
Allow them to connect withsomebody.
It can help them change theirlife, their mindset, helping to
open up their ears to hear whatyou're saying.
Remove the spirit of blindersso they can see what's before
them.
Father, we thank you.
Right now, father, and everybodythat listens to this podcast, I
declare in the creed a better2024.

(50:52):
I speak it through theauthority that you place in us.
Allow us to understand ourauthority, know who we are,
who's we are and what we've beenplaced here to do is to impact
the kingdom for such a time asthis, and I do believe that in
2024, if anybody is listening tothis podcast, father, they're
looking for that next step intheir life.
They're looking for better, they're looking to elevate.

(51:14):
So we ask that you continue toelevate them.
We ask that you elevate thehopes of this podcast, continue
to grow this podcastexponentially.
We're grateful for what you'vesaid or done for us.
Most of all, we thank you, thankful for your son Jesus, for
dying for our sins, even thoughthat we didn't deserve it, that
he was humble and he wasobedient unto death, father, and
he's given us the opportunityto enjoy, and he's standing at

(51:37):
the right hand of you right now, making intercession for his
Father.
Yes, god, you allow us tooperate and move in the
principles of your word, and weappreciate you.
In Jesus' name, we pray amen.

Speaker 1 (51:48):
Amen, oh, thank you.
Thank you again for being onhere.
I'm so excited that God hasbrought you in my life.
I'm telling you we are gonna dosome amazing things and you're
100% behind what you're doing.
And I tell people that I am asupporter.

(52:11):
That's who I am, because Iain't worried about my God.
God is gonna do what mine haveto do, but I'm gonna support
everybody else.
So I thank you again for beingon here All right.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
I thank you for that.
There's something that you saidI wanna leave with your
audience just real quick If youdon't support, how can you
expect to be supported?
You came from all over.
How can you expect to leave?
So remember, what you put outthere is what you get back.
So I'm the same as you.
I wanna support everybody doingsomething for the kingdom,
because we need in every pocketof life.

(52:46):
So I'm grateful for you, thankyou for you, thank you for Bible
, you, that whole family.
Let's continue to move in themaster, be of the master's use
and move the way that he desiresus to move.
And I'm grateful and thankfulfor you having me on the podcast
again.

Speaker 1 (53:03):
Oh, I'm so thankful.
Oh, my goodness, I'm tellingyou, I'm seeing here trying to
