Speaker 1 (00:00):
So, on this episode of Quirks, bumps and Bruises, we
thought we would take you backjust a bit to last week and
share with you the announcementthat was made about my sweet
co-host, candy Payne, and, asyou know, there were some
exciting things happening to her, and so we want to share that

(00:21):
conversation with you Y'all.
Today we have a really bigannouncement to make.
We've been waiting on thisannouncement, but we need
someone else to make thatannouncement besides me, and she
is on the phone with us rightnow.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Hey everybody, I just wanted to share with you that
the Payne family has a brand newbaby girl.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
And we are so excited about that.
Tell us more.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Her name is Emma Grace and we are just so excited
she's already got Jacob wrappedaround her finger.
So I'll give y'all just alittle rundown.
On the day that she was born,so my water had broke and it was
about four o'clock in themorning so we came on to the
hospital and when we got here itwas obviously just, you know,

(01:17):
very, very, very slow process.
So because the water had broken, we were still told to stay,
obviously because we weretechnically considered in labor.
So we waited and waited, andwaited and then finally they
decided that they were going tohave to do a C-section I know
that was something you reallydidn't want to hear which was
not planned.
I'd never had one done before.

(01:38):
So I was a little scared, butwe prayed the Lord would just be
in control, which we knew hewould be, and he would take care
of all of us.
So we wound up at about 9.30.
She was born and throughcesarean she was having some
complications, like through thenatural process, and every time
I'd have contractions she wouldstart to struggle.

(02:00):
So they just decided that weprobably should go with a
cesarean for some otherdifferent reasons.
And I'm so thankful to Godbecause during that cesarean,
they had actually told us thatthe umbilical cord was wrapped
pretty tightly around her neck,oh my.
And so every single time I washaving a contraction, the reason

(02:22):
she was her numbers kept goingup was because it was tightening
around her neck even more so,which was horrible and scary,
and so I'm just so thankful forthe peace that God had given us
to just go through with that, and so that was something we
could look back on and totallythank God for the unexpected
things for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
And how sweet that you and Jake knew.
Just put it in the Lord's hands.
He was there with you and ifyou've been listening, uh, the
last nine months we have gonethrough a lot of rounds of
trying to figure out what thename of this baby is going to be
.
I think she mentioned it a fewmoments ago, but just in case
you're just now listening, Ithink that this possibly may

(03:02):
deserve a drumroll.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Okay.
So yeah, you're right, Drumrollneeded, because I only decided
to change her name like at least150 times during the entire
pregnancy.
Yeah, we went with Emma Grace, and so that was pretty much the
only thing Jake and I agreed on,I think together, and I just
you know me, it's just sopermanent I kept coming up with

(03:28):
different names, but I think itjust now that we see her, it
just fit her so well, oh, itabsolutely does, and that was my
favorite name out of all theones that you had thrown out,
which was hundreds.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Emma Grace was my very favorite.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
And it's funny because, you know, we really
thought she, most people thoughtshe'd be a huge baby because I
was huge and I even had a ladyask me, probably a week ago, if
I was having two babies or one, because I was just so large.
So she came out six pounds nineounces and, due to Jake being

(04:02):
so tall, she come out 19 and ahalf inches long.
So long legs, little girl.
But she is just the mostprecious, precious thing and we
are so tickled and excited andjust thankful to God.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, I can speak on behalf of the Joy FM team, as
well as the Joy FM family that'slistening, that we are
absolutely thrilled for you.
I wanted to ask you about thisCandy, because sometimes, when a
baby is born, it's all aboutthe mother.
But I want to ask you aboutJake.
Candy is married to Jake Payneand he is just, first of all,

(04:36):
hilariously funny, but also justa great, great guy.
So I want to ask you, is hejust totally and completely
smitten over this baby girl?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Oh, totally smitten.
I mean like within two seconds.
Obviously, with having acesarean, you know they have to
do a lot of the work once thebaby comes out and Jake was able
to hold her first.
Typically it's the mom, and ithad been when I had Hunter, but
this time he got to hold herfirst and I think he just the
pictures, y'all and just theexcitement that he has had over

(05:08):
having a girl.
You know, we have two boys, sothis is just completely new to
us and that girl already.
Already he just wrapped aroundhis finger.
I had no doubt.
Yeah, same for me.
I mean I've always heard peoplesay, like how can you love all
your children?
You know the same and you don't.
I mean you can't love yourchildren the same and you think,

(05:30):
how can I love another child ifwe have this one?
But just already, I mean thedifferent ways that you love
them, your heart, it's like itgrows more room to love others.
So yeah, I just I still can'tbelieve it.
I mean she came earlier thanshe was supposed to and I think
we were all just kind of shockedand we were expecting her to to
be two weeks later and um, soit just it shocked us, but just

(05:53):
like that overwhelming, and Ijust remember crying like the
first time.
I couldn't physically see her,but I could hear her cry and it
was just I just startedboohooing, such a very sweet
time in the life of a brand newmom.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
I wanted to ask you, Candy, especially about Jacob,
your husband, who has thatpassion to share Jesus with
every single person he meets.
He is not going to let anybodythat comes in contact with him
not at least get a chance forhim to be able to share the love
of Jesus with them.
And so I wanted to ask you inthis hospital environment, did

(06:27):
that happen?
Quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
And y'all.
Yes, you know Jacob and he haswitnessed to so many people here
.
He'll go out to the vendingmachine and he'll come back and
share a story.
You know his heart of justsharing Jesus and wanting others
to know him and it's just, itwas so just.
It's encouraging.
You know I love that about himand just seeing his passion and

(06:51):
his excitement for that.
But we really have been soblessed with the nurses.
You know you come in and younever know and everybody has bad
days or they just they're nothappy at work situations going
on.
But God has just really blessedus with so many of the nurses
who follow Jesus and you knowwe're able to just have the

(07:12):
conversations with them.
That's been incredible and soencouraging and, um, it's just,
it's.
It's been a really good, goodtime.
You know it's not, you knowyou're waiting to go home and
all those good things, but it'sjust.
We've had a really good timeand lots of really good
fellowship with some of thenurses and y'all I just want to
share, like I'm just going tobrag on my husband.
He has been so good Y'all.

(07:34):
I mean literally he washed myfeet, he took a rack like,
washed my feet and put socks onand I mean he spent the entire
pregnancy tying tennis shoes forme and doing different things,
but he's just been stellar.
I mean he's 6'5" and he'ssleeping.
You know, he slept on a couchhalf that size, it seemed like.
But no complaining, alwaysmaking sure we're okay and I'm

(07:58):
just so thankful for that.
He's been so wonderful.
Through that all and y'all, godhas just been good and I'm sad
because I'm going to misseverybody, but I definitely want
us to keep in touch and I'llshare stories and you know it's
so exciting right now, but howquickly I'm going to remember
those sleepless nights and allthose are going to start back up
and I'm 40, so y'all know thisis a little bit difficult.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Just go around.
Well, you've handled it alllike a champion from day one and
we are so excited for thatsweet baby, emma Grace, and to
get to see her soon and hold herand love on her.
And of course, candy will be onmaternity leave for a while,
but we are going to be sure andcheck in with her from time to
time, and having a new babyalways brings about tons of

(08:38):
stories.
So we'll look forward to doingthat with our sweet Candy.
But in the meantime, we askthat you pray for Candy, you
pray for Jacob, also the twoboys, wyatt and Hunter, and then
of course, for sweet baby EmmaGrace.
And if you would like to sendCandy some well wishes, you can
certainly call here at thestation at 888-985-6936.

(09:00):
Or you can text us and we'llmake sure that she gets those
messages.
I'll be holding down the fortand we'll keep doing the things
that we always do Playing greatSouthern Gospel music, having
some devotional time, havingsome prayer time and of course
you know we're going to do somelaughs.
I can't get by without that.
So things will keep moving onand then Candy will be back
before you know it.

(09:21):
In the meantime, Candy, justkeep loving on that sweet, sweet
baby, emma Grace, and we lookforward to talking to you again
very, very soon.
