Dear exhausted Black woman,

When’s the last time you gave yourself a few minutes to tune into your body and focus on the present moment sans screens? This is a practice called mindfulness.

One of the ways to practice being mindful is by listening to your body and being aware of its sensations, emotions, and needs. This is also called embodiment.

In this episode, we welcome mindfulness of the body (embodiment) as a radical rest practice. There is a plethora of ways to connect with your body in such a mindful way, and in this episode, Bethany and Nieicie introduce you to them! We also explore the following topics…

Key Topics

  • What is mindfulness?
  • Mindfulness of the body
  • Black embodied practices
  • Why it’s hard for Black women to tune into our bodies
  • Grief as an invitation to feel into the body
  • Listening to the body in real time

Resources mentioned:

Invitation to listeners:

  • Take a moment to tune in to your body. Pause the episode if needed.
  • If you body had a voice, what would it tell you right now? What does that feel like?
  • Once you can feel what it is communicating, ask it what it needs.
  • Find time today to do what your body asks.
