Speaker 1 (00:00):
How do you raid his fans? He got raided in
bringing it to look, I apologize. It's been a while.
I've been crook and I've been away, but I'm back
and we can bring on the run home here with
the Green Machine. Yeah, not the best second half of
the season with us, but we just keep supporting the
boys and move forward. Let's discuss everything that's happening around
the club right now, straight to the man his huts
(00:21):
and young Hodo. Hey doing boss? You know I'm good mate.
Big game against the Panthers. Regardless of the performances, It's
not going to take much to get up for this
three time raigning champs, right.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, it won't be made.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
We spoke all week about coming out and turning up
and obviously we don't go out there and mean to lose,
but feel like we've probably fallen away from our.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Values a little bit over the last few weeks. So
we'll be.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Looking to come out there and put a strong performance
in this week.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
What are you noticing around Maybe we're kind of bounced
off our values a little bit.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I feel like it's just probably for the kids. It's
been a long season for him, obviously coming in previously
they've probably played five or six games, so it's a
twenty seven round competition and you need to be on
in the NRAL every single week. And I feel like
that's probably something that's going to help us going into
(01:14):
next season, is they've had that consistency of playing week in,
week out NRL footies. So yeah, it's been able to
hold them values and hold them standards every single week.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Is the challenge for us and something that we need
to get better at. And we have.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Three more weeks to finish the season high and who knows.
You've seen what happened last night we went out X three,
which could still be a chance.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Absolutely, And you mentioned it is a long season and
it isn't it hard for young young guy to come
in and be consistent at that level and people forget,
you know, when you're playing lower grades, when you're playing
even your South Wales Cup. Yes opposition does video on you,
but not in detail in the NRL. So someone like
Ethan Strange comes onto the scene and has a really
(01:59):
good six weeks, he's going to get absolutely man handled.
He's going to be on people's tip sheets. People are
going to really identify on him to limit his effectiveness,
which is outstanding that with his running game. So that's
the thing that a player has to learn too when
they come into grade that they can't they're constantly watched,
especially by the super coaches, right yeah, one.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Hundred percent, And that's what excites me as a player,
and it should do for the young boys as well.
People obviously watch a game and learn how to defend
you or attack against you.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
So you've forever got to be evolved in as a player.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
And I'm a footy nerd, so I love that side
of it and love always trying to get better. And
I'm sure sticking all the coaches and that are all
over it with the young boys in terms of developing
their footing.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
But the one thing you.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Can't get without being out there is experience, and that's
something that they've gained this year.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
When did you feel you started to really get comfortable
the top grade where you knew what was the expectation,
When did you really start to find feet where? And
then maybe you kind of push through it a year
and go, you know what, a year's done, and I
feel good, you know, I didn't feel all those kind
of glitches in a whole year, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, I think it's probably after your second full season
in the NRAL where you really know your game and
you know the players around you, And yeah, I feel
like once you know your game, you know what your
strong points are and also knowing your weaknesses and keep
consistently working out there at training and getting the coaches.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
It's always helped you develop.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
And something that the younger boys have done really well
this year, I feel, and hopefully they can just keep
building into next year.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
And it's been people keep forgetting as well, and people forget,
especially on the outside, that the group you guys are
a family and us are a product of the guys
that have come before you, and I mean those players
in the last couple of years and blogs like you know,
we've said goodbye to Hodgo over the last couple of years,
We've said goodbye to Jared. You know, we're going to
be saying goodbye to Elliott. You know, like every year
(03:57):
we're losing a we're losing a mate because that's the industry.
And does that does that take a little bit of it?
Do you take a little bit of a hit too
when you when you lose that kind of presence.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, I personally got along with all them players, so
obviously not having them around the group every day, they've
become lifelong mates for myself.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Now, and yeah, their.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Leadership and experience is something that you can't buy. So
we us boys under them now need to step up
and start leading away.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
And it's kind of a change.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Into the guard now, all them, all the boys that've
come before us, it's time for us to start representing them.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
And also too, not forgetting Jack as well as a
huge loss as well. And you're going into the trenches
with these guys that are you know, high quality, and
and you speak about we speak about Big Papa. He'll
his time will come in the next year or so,
but just quickly. Wasn't that great to see him? I mean,
forget the performance, but was great to see Papa chalk
up three hundred first grade games all in the Green Jumper.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, one hundred percent of his massive milestone itself. And
for his family and me and.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Tommy Salin that was on the other day.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
How fortunate we were to be able to play in
three hundred club game has only been three in the
history of the Raiders, and to be able to play
in two of those games, it feels pretty cool, And yeah,
it's a massive achievement for Josh being a wide club man,
and full credit to himself forgetting there and the way
that he carries and the size that he is such
(05:23):
a powerful man, and yeah, it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Do you feed off him with the confidence? You know,
you're lacing up a boots, lacing up, you're getting it,
you know you're prepping for a game, and you've got
Papa in one corner. Surely he just just him knowing
that he's coming out a war with you makes you
feel a lot better.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Right, Yeah, it does. Mean every time you look in
the chain my lockers next to his in the change
room a g So yeah, it works perfect Ben to
see Big Papa getting ready for a game. It gives
you that confidence in that belief and he's done everything
in the game, so I can't imagine how it feels
for a player that's only played five or ten games
see Big Pups with it in the team. So yeah,
(06:02):
very grateful to play every game with him, and very fortunate.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
He's a goind of guy that just doesn't seem to
like he's the man. Every door he walks through, he's
the same. He's what you see is what you get
with Papa. And sometimes sometimes I notice on the field
he has a liver of smirk and a smile, so
it seems to just take that under the field as well.
He's the same man in the kitchen, he's the same
man at a party, he's the same man in the car,
and he's the same man on the field.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, he's made.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
He holds himself in such a high regard and he's
so chilled and such a big cuddly bear, like we
all say. But I think he's got to switch to
that some people haven't seen yet.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
We can't poke the bear, and it's happened a few times.
Maybe sometimes we needed the opposition to bake him a
bit more, but I think opposition no, not to poke him.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, they just leave the big flor alone.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Mate. We mentioned some of those boys are Elliott big Smell,
the man. He's been around for a long long time,
really made a fist of the NRL coming from England's
he's such a raider now and become such a cam baron.
And as he mentioned, if if we can get there,
that'll be great. If we can somehow jag our finals birth,
which we can still do and if we don't end
up having a home final and we are and this
(07:13):
is the last weekend at Campus Stadium or JA if
you will with Elliott similar prospect, right, what a man
to be right beside you know, the green jumper.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Yeah, Elliot's had a massive influence or myself my career
on and off the field. Such having his presence around
the group has been massive, and spoke about today center
and smell off the right way in the way that
he deserves and he deserves a win for his final
time here at JO Stadium. So that's something that we've
spoke about somewhere we want to do and something that
(07:46):
Elliott deserves.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
He created the two hundred, so that was a nice
little celebration against the Warriors a few weeks ago. Just
quickly in those big milestone games, huddo, what's it feel
like in the sheds? You know, is there you feel
that there's a little bit extra pressure or is it
just more energy to kind of draw from? And what's
the vibe like? Because everyone has has their mixed results,
every team has we can't always send Unfortunately, the planet's
(08:10):
having a line where we've got everyone cashing in on
their milestones. But what goes on, I know the player,
someone like Elliott will they don't talk about me. It's
not about me. Let's get the two points. But Bloke's
like yourself, would rally behind his back to say, let's
do this for Smell.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, I think Smell is the only one that we've
ever won, so about that. But it's just another game.
But for some reason, every time there's.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
A milestone at the moment we struggled to get the
win and something that we have spoke about, something we
need to get better at. And obviously we love each
other so much so we probably do put a little
bit of pressure on ourselves to make sure that we
win for them, but results just haven't gone our way
in the past.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, and also too, like instability. We've had some injuries
and some changes and you know, you guys like to
say it's no excuse, but it makes it tricky when
you have the THO'SE combinations aren't settled. And it was
really unfortunate at the start of the year with Jammer
and even hostco together, like they were really part of
that nice start to the season that we had, and
then to lose them for so long. It's it's almost
(09:12):
like a new team because a key position, especially in
the hearts, right.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, it has made Consistency in the team makes a
massive difference and you get used to playing with someone
and obviously that their habits and that and the game change.
So yeah, having that consistency in the team. But obviously
form plays a part injury plays apart. But yeah, it's
been a little bit tricky this year finding that.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Speaking about finding it, you've had yourself some ventures. You've
been a busy man off the field, mate.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, I've been trying to get a supplement company going
and getting pretty close.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Now, So what's that expired?
Speaker 1 (09:48):
I mean, we all know us all in that generation
now where you're playing in elite NRL where it's all
about the science and you are all there and you
know you were all utilizing those technologies even in juniors,
and how it's so well well catered for. Now, is
it a personal thing that you love the training, you
like the recovery aspect, you like supplementation. Talk to me,
(10:11):
how do let's give this thing a plug?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
No, it's something that I've had a massive passion of
mine ever since I was a young fella. And after
I tested positive to it ben substance. It's always been
a thing in mind that I didn't want it to
happen to another kid or teenagers, So creating the supplement
company called Young Supplements, which is going to be future focused,
(10:34):
and I just want to fuel the future in trying
to get teenagers the right stuff and taking the right stuff.
Obviously there's always a message out there just not to
take anything, but they all take something, so why not
take the right thing?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Ye, yes, that's a protein powder.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Well there's more to yeah, So yeah, it's going to
be a protein powder to begin with, which is a
mass gainer called future mass, and then you out from there,
bring out a wp I and hopefully just keep rolling from.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
There, maybe some nice pre trainers and some creatine supplements
and that.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Kind of Maybe some shred for you mate.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I need it. I'll tell you it's it's been a
long winter.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, I'll bring out pre trainers and cretine and stuff
like that. Just need to keep finding the balance on
more teenagers obviously need to be taken and shouldn't be taken.
So it's going to be all has to test it
and start to approve. So maybe she's there.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
So basically you say just quickly for the listeners. So
you get an idea. You hatch an idea. I mean,
you've it's been in your dnail for a long long time,
and give it a really really good reason to do
it as well with some of the challenges you face
and the mistakes you made as a young kid. You
get this really good idea and then you go to
the powers that be. So what do you do do
You sit down and say, hey, I want a protein
(11:52):
powder that tastes like this, that has this in there,
and you start to get to the professionals to start
making up like a concoction of a potential powder.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Right.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Yeah, Well it's taken well over twelve months to get
to these point, so it's taken a lot of time
and effort. And yeah, so sat down obviously and wanted
to create supplements for kids for the future.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
And then I'm.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Obviously going to go through the process of the manufacturing
side of it. And then you get your formulas and
stuff like that. So it's getting the formulas right, and
then obviously the flavors and stuff is the fun part
and taste testing and that after that.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
So what was the name of the Suff'm going to
get future mass, future mass buyer. What it has some supplements,
Young Supplements, Young Supplements. I love it, mate, So when
are we looking to have a sample of this and
when are we looking to have this literally out in
the shoals for us to buy it.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Yeah, I'm hoping within the next two to three weeks
I should be able to have a launch date. So
everything's been manufactured and it's just in my manufacturer place
at in Sydney at the moment. So yeah, it should
be able to hit the stores in about two or
three weeks.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Well, exciting times to get Young Supplements filtrated through all
the gyms and places around, not just camera, not just Astray,
maybe worldwide, mate, maybe this could be your thing.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Hopefully take out the nflure I reckon the.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
NFL, NBA, just go hard all the way. But UFC even.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, that'd be hectic.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You can all take us there for a trip to
the America. Just speak in America probably you go, mate,
must be exciting deep down that you're going to Vegas
next year.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Yeah, it is made obviously a really exciting time for
the club and everyone involved.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
It's going to be such an awesome thing to.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Get our team out there and something I'm looking forward
to doing and once in a lifetime thing you.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Knew it was coming, like there was always that talk,
but then when it was made official. How does that feel?
Was there a huge injection amongst the boys, amongst the club?
I mean it would have been, but how has that
kind of added a bit of a layer to the
excitement of not just for this year but for next year.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, it's been a good vibe.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Obviously there's a speculation that we're in, we're out, we're in,
we're aunt. So to finally find out that we're in,
obviously all the boys were buzzed.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
But it's a little bit hard.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Because obviously mid season and trying to focus on this.
But I'm assuming once the season finishes and we roll
in the pre season, there'll be a good a good
buzz knowing that you can play a footy game a
little bit earlier in a different country and especially in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Well, make sure we've got those young supplements. Really, you
make and take a big suitcase over there and you
can try to sell it over there, may get a
few investors.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, that'd be the guy on board.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yeah, mate, let's do it all the best mate
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Cheers mate, Thank you, Thanks amy On
