Season 1, Episode 4:

Why didn’t they leave?

Exploring the reasons why people stay in unhealthy relationships

(Part 1) Release Date: November 27, 2023

Content:

Why don’t victims of domestic violence leave relationships?  What do assailants do to keep them from leaving? What did you experience? What triggered you to leave? What did Diane learn about her sister after she was killed? What answers did she want to know?

Diane will tell her story about the impact of the murder on her family. How so many feelings and discussions took place afterwards to find anything that might have led to Sue’s murder. In the midst of helping to manage the estate, so much was found that gave some insight to why her sister was brutally murdered by her husband. The questions still linger as to why Sue did not leave her abuser.

Facilitator: Dr. Ellen Smith

Guests: Nancy Chavez (Domestic Violence Victim and Survivor) and Dianne McMillen (Family Survivor of Domestic Violent Victim)
