In this episode of non-stop deep sighs, Katie and Allison are joined by Calvin Jones of Tech 4 Housing to review the incredibly important topic of Housing. First, we discuss the most recent democratic debates and why the media is letting Joe Biden off the hook, and then rant about SNL casting VERY racist comedian Shane Gillis, who is also VERY bad at apologies.

For our review, we unpack the complex and thorny issues of housing, the work being done by advocates to humanize unhoused people, why it’s so hard to get public policy passed to create missing middle housing in Seattle and other cities nationwide (spoiler alert white privilege!!), and how big tech has been implicated in the housing crisis and how tech workers could be part of a solution.

Recently, homelessness has been weaponized as a fear tactic both locally in conservative media Sinclair stations (Seattle Is Dying) and nationally on Fox News and by Trump, so it’s more important than ever to learn about how everyone should get involved with housing advocacy and discussing housing as a human right. Shout out to the #SEATTLEPROCESS and never forget, Safe Seattle Is A Hate Group!
