Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Jonathan and Kelly Show.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Would you tell us more about the altercation that happened
at the Arlington Cemetery.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Kelly Nash and she wants to yell at Donald Trump
because he showed up. She can she can go to
hell and Kelly showoc. He almost was able to engage
the filter that.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Was I loved watching that quick because he knew he
shouldn't say that, but he couldn't stop him couldn't.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
He just couldn't it couldn't stop himself. He had to
say it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
JD.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Vance And if you, by the way we've heard preaching
about what is hyperbole and what is not, I don't
think that was hyperbole. He really meant that.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
You know, look, if if we're trying to return politics
to the good old days where we don't actually make it,
you know, something viatal, volatile, then then yeah, I agree
with the the you know, the NonStop coverage of this
I CNN and MSNBC that he's raising the temperature. But

(01:05):
to your point, yeah, he's absolutely pissed off that this
has been made such an issue. Like what he was
saying is the families. First off, he got the invitation
to be there with a film crew by the actual cemetery.
Then the families themselves requested that there be photographs and
filming done with them, so they're not being used as pawns.

(01:26):
They're asking to be a part of it. And there
was a minor disagreement between one park official and somebody
from the Trump team where they were under the impression
that even though you've been invited, you're not allowed into
this area, and the Trump team was like, I believe
we are allowed into this area. And that was, you know,
the extent basically of the argument, and that has now

(01:47):
been blown up into Donald Trump egomaniac can't help but
use dead vict you know, dead families, gold star families
as pawns in his charade that he actually cares about
military families. You know, that's irritating.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
The only good thing, and there was a good thing
that came out of the supposed dustop. The only good
thing is that prior to the dust up reports, there
was no coverage from CNN, no coverage from ABCNBC, MSNBC
or the like about the soldiers that we lost, men
and women we lost, And because of that dust up,

(02:27):
we did get some coverage on those channels, so those
families were recognized. Otherwise we would have had no coverage
on what was a tragic day in American military history.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
But it's interesting that when you watch the reports on
the liberal leaning news networks, which is all of them,
they basically portray it as these are families that died
because of the decisions of Donald Trump and his administration.
That what happened was Joe Biden was handcuffed by Donald
Trump a year and a half earlier, where he has
to pull out, and he has to announce the date,

(02:58):
and he has to abandon people.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
All right. To put a time stamp on this, Instead
of giving you the exact time when we record this,
I'll tell you that we're ten hours and thirty five
minutes away from the first sit down in the interview
for Kamala Harris.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I mean, this is huge, right, I mean, I'm sure
somebody scrambling at CNN trying to edit this thing to
make it sound intelligent.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I want to get back to that point and one second,
but we are there. It is hold on a second
double secret probationary hotlines ringing Killer Nash, Welcome on the phone,
Senator Tim Scott, Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Brother. Hello, Hello, Hello, it's been too long.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
It has been.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's been very busy for you. And I know that
you're one of the most one hundred influential and powerful
men in America. But now I think you have a
clearer understanding of the term Speaker of the House.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I know who is not.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Congratulations on your wedding and your man.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Well, thank you so much. I can't sell you how
blessed I am. The Good Lord allowed me to. I'll
kick my coverage and I am saying thank you to
the Lord. And I'm also excited about the several years
to enter the future where I'm able to sit back
and relax and say to myself, you know what, Thank

(04:21):
you God. She's a wonderful woman, amazing person. Thankfully she's
good looking too, and it's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Well, Senator Scott.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Here on the Jonathan and Kelly Show, we're going to
talk a little bit about the presidential race and that
sort of stuff in a second, but I'm looking at
some of your legislative priorities as we move into a
new session here pretty soon. There's all kinds of great
things that you want to get done. One of them
is enhancing mental health and Suicide Prevention through Campus Planning Act.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Can you talk to us a little bit about that.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Definitely, I'll say this without question. Since the since COVID,
we've seen a spike and the number of young people
going to the emergency room because of mental health issues.
Suicides and attempted suicides have never been higher among young Americans.
That is a travesty that has to be addressed, and
one of the ways that we address it is through

(05:13):
the legislation that you're talking about. For those who may
not know it, National Suicide Prevention Month is September, and
so that importance of that is that all month long,
we have an opportunity to focus and resource some of
the areas where we can reduce the number of attempted
suicides and address the mental health challenges. And there's no

(05:36):
better place to do that than on college campuses and
in high schools where we've seen that kind of spike.
So my bill basically addresses the issues and allows for
the creation and the implementation of mental health and suicide
prevention programs on campuses. It doesn't require any campus to
do that, but it does encourage it. And as we

(05:58):
go forward, I believe we'll have more young Americans celebrating
the twenty first, thirty first, forty first birthdays because we
did what we felt necessary.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
You know, Senator, that's one of the things you're working
on that people can listen to and get a real
grip on, understand it as you explain it. But you know,
right now, we got so much news coming out about
inflation and cost and taxes, and we've got politics involving
cuts here and spending money there, and supposedly tax increases
or tax reductions. Talk to us specifically about what you're

(06:31):
working on with the Tax cuts and Jobs Act.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Well, let me just tell you what this upcoming election
gives your choice between sanity on the economic front or
being cuckoo for cocoa posts. It's kind of that simple.
Think about the proposals we've seen coming out of the left.
Vice President Harris has suggested a twenty five percent tax

(06:57):
on unrealized games. That means for folks who have profit
but they haven't realized it, they're gonna have to pay
taxes on something they don't have the money to pay
for it. Think about taking the tax on capital gains
from twenty to twenty three percent to forty five percent

(07:19):
capital is required to create jobs, which means that they
pour as Americans, the entree level Americans into our economy
will have fewer jobs because Vice President Harris, Kamala Harris
has no clue whatsoever how the free market economy works.
I'll go further than that, at six a multiple increase

(07:44):
in the child tax credit only means that inflation will roar.
They tried this in twenty twenty one, and as a
result of the one point seven trillion dollars spent on
the liberal's wish list, inflation and outpaced the cash they
put in people's accounts. Literally one thousand dollars a month

(08:08):
is what we experience today on the loss of spending
power because Kamala Harris does not understand free market economic.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Senator Scott with us on the Jonathan and Kelly Show. Obviously,
South Carolina is home to so many military families, and
I understand that you've got some ideas on how to
make life better for them, not just here in South Carolina,
but throughout the country.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Absolutely, one of the things that we're working on is
making sure that we provide our service members the resources
that they need, from home ownership to retirement planning, to
financial literacy. We have focused our attention on making sure
that our is called the NDAA, the f fancy way

(08:56):
of staying the money we use to support our troops.
That bill is actually reflective of the priorities that keep
our soldiers safe on the battlefield and prepared for life after.
And those two priorities, those two pillars are ways that
I am focusing my attention areas where I'm focusing my

(09:18):
attention to make sure that our troops are paid and
equipped with the best resources they need to keep our
nations safe, but also for the life after service.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
You know, Senators Scaut, I'm sure you're very thankful that
all the other senators agreed to take a break so
you can enjoy your honeymoon. You know, as we get
ready for the next session, why should South Carolinians, who,
as you know, and you have explained many times before,
you understand exactly what it's like to be worried about
paying the bills, paying your increased core insurance, paying your

(09:49):
increased house insurance, just trying to pay the rent and
buy groceries. Why should a South Carolinian be concerned when
you step up to the podium early September and start
talking about the the Indian Ocean Strategic Review Act.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Let me just say, the Indian Ocean Strategic Review Act
is a biparson legislation with me and Senator King that
would require a comprehensive strategy for the US engagement in
the Indian Ocean. Think about it this way. Our strongest
allies like Australia need our engagement by defining the territory

(10:27):
that is included in the literal states stretching from East
Africa to Australia, so that we understand the terrain that
we're playing on. That sounds complicated, and I gotta tell you, Johnathan,
it is not. Here's what we're saying. Our enemy and
our adversaries are lurking across the globe. Our strategy is

(10:54):
to partner with our strongest allies in different regions, whether
it's Australia, whether it's the UK, whether it's Israel. We
want to make sure that our allies along with us,
have the kind of strategy necessary to push back on
the adversaries. As we've seen in the Middle East, Iran's

(11:19):
objectives through all their proxy fighters and wars that they
are implementing and promoting against israel Is to eliminate the
little Satan so they can come for the big one,
that would be us. Every single time we resource our allies,
we actually reduced threats against the home land.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
And you mentioned the Middle least certainly interwoven, and that
it's going to be people like China, and China's day
to day nefarious actions around the globe are affecting South
Carolinians in ways that we don't even understand.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
One of the things we need to know about what
we are doing in the Indo Pacific is looking at
ways to put China in the smallest corner in the
largest country on the planet. And the way we do
that is stopping them from stealing our intellectual property, stop
them from manipulating the currency, stop them from trying to
take over lands near our military basis, whether that's in

(12:17):
Africa or in America, stop them from trying to really
manipulate the prices of agriculture, and start them being responsible
for the actions that they have taken that have devastated
this world. And that includes everything from COVID and beyond,
and so our strategy must be full force in every sector,

(12:42):
in every facet of their economy. They focus on our economy.
We should focus on theirs. They focus on our military.
We should have the kind of options within our portfolio
to focus on making sure we deny them the high.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Ground, Senator Scott, we are almost out of the time,
so I don't want to get off the phone without
talking about the presidential race. And in full disclosure, we're
recording this just hours before the I'm sure very enlightening
interview that Kamala Harris is going to give her very
first one about six weeks into the campaign. But for

(13:18):
people who might be undecided, I don't know if we
have a lot in our audience, but perhaps we do.
When you think of a Harris Wall's presidency, how would
that play out in reality?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
If you think inflation is high under Biden Harris, it
would be significantly higher under Harris Walls, because they fundamentally
want to destroy the current system of American prosperity. They
want to raise taxes, they want to raise the regulatory

(13:52):
state to an oppressive level. They also watch Biden and
Harris with the Afghanistan straw baunched cost US thirteen American soldiers.
Wat's their response to our ally in the Middle East,
Israel dragging their feet. What we know about this administration

(14:12):
is as bad what we know about the Harris administration.
It is worse. Not equally as bad, but worse. Compare
that to Donald Trump twenty seventeen to twenty twenty, the
lowest unemployment rate for every demographic in the country all
time lows for several of them. We had the strongest economy.

(14:32):
We also had respect on the global stage. Four more
years of Donald Trump, four more years of world peace,
global respect, a strong economy, and low taxes. Four years
of Harris Waltz. What do you get? High taxes, low respect,
low enthusiasm, and the American economy lurching forward socialism.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Senator Jump Scott, thank you so much. You know, I
want you to know there are a lot of South
Carolinians like me. I'm sure Sally, and i I'm sure
Angela ande Kelly pray for our leadership for men like you,
and we also recognize fully and you'll understand it more
so that now that you're married, there is a huge
commitment that these families of our leaders make so that

(15:19):
you guys can spend as much time as you need
crafting legislation and pushing an agenda to make sure America
stays right.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Thank you so much for that. I'll tell you that
every day I recognize that with three kids now and
one in high school, I got to say that the
sacrifice our families go through, it's worth it because we
have been given the gift, the lottery ticket of the
greatest citizenship on the planet. It's called being an American.
That that doesn't wake you up in the morning as
a public official quit. We have to save this country,

(15:49):
protect this country, and that requires sacrifice. Thank God, all
might we know it. Here is South Carolina and we're
going to lead this nation. We always have, always will.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Senator Scott, don't wait so long to come back next time,
my man.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
I thought we put me in the game. Coach put
me in the game.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
It's always great to hear from Senator. It has been
a while, so hopefully we will now gain.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Literally the last conversation we had with.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Him was he was going to the border and he
was inviting you and I to go to New Hampshire
with him to one of our one of the one
of the diners he had discovered.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
That was the last time we spoke with him.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Okay, I'm want to get back to what we mentioned
a few minutes ago. As the countdown continues and CNN
has got the clock as we get ready for the
big Dana Bash sit down with Kamala and.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
The explainer, Tim Wallas the explainer, you know what can
I just I want to put this out there into
the uh the atmosphere and see if the people who
have the rash thoughts agree with me on this one.
And you have to be a little bit older to
make to understand the comparison. Tim Walls is the new
Edgels and Ed Schultz has been dead since twenty eighteen

(17:05):
or so. But Ed Schultz was the original guy from
Minnesota who talked tough. He was a tough man, or
so he would have you believe, who was also a
far far left liberals. A matter of fact, he got
in huge trouble because he accused MSNBC of not properly

(17:27):
covering Bernie Sanders in twenty sixteen, and they demoted him
over it. But when he would talk, when Ed Schultz
would talk, it was always like I'm drinking my beer
and let me tell you he's far right, Maga losers,
something about democracy. Let me tell you about patriotism, pal,
And that's the way they carried him, and the left

(17:48):
loves that fake male image. And you know ed Schultz
by the way. I wonder how close Tim Waltz is
to him on this one. He was talking about for
something he was going on in Massachusetts, I remember, and
he said, let me tell you, if I was a
Massachusetts residence, I'd vote ten times in this election to
make sure that the sons of bitches and that's what
they are, sons of bitches on the right don't win.

(18:11):
Cheating is okay if you're doing it for the good
of the country.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Well, I can tell you this. We get ready for
the big sit down, and everybody keeps promoting us as
as the first interview, and it is. But it was
recorded now two days ago. So I can only imagine
that if if I were and I'm sure there are
at least two representatives of the Kamala Walls campaign inside

(18:36):
the room in the post edit booth, So if I
can only imagine that two days ago, Kamala and Walls
walk into the studio, I'm guessing there's a three camera shot.
They're going to have a static camera of four sorry,
four camera shot. They're going to have a static camera

(18:58):
on each of them, Calm and Governor Wallas, and then
a static shot on Dana and then Dana, and then
there's going to be a static shot of the room
because these guys had probably they probably spent three hours
doing this interview in its entirety. Now the goal is
to make her look intelligent, So the editing on this

(19:18):
is going to be very key. You can almost count it.
And I can hardly wait to see how many times
that camera flips when they do a static shot back
to Dana. Dana right before commonly gives an answer. Just no,
that could have been three or four answers into the
raw recording because she finally got it right.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
I bet you if we were to see the raw
footage of this interview, this is legit. How I imagine
it going. Dana says Vice President Harris, you've mentioned that
you would like to be tougher on the border. Can
you explain your position on that and how it might
have changed since you've become the vice president? And then
she just looks at Tim. Yeah, what I would tell

(19:59):
him islah blah blah blah blah, I believe, and then
just say exactly what Tim Walla says. He's going to
answer every question, tell her what to say, and they'll
be and they'll probably run it by a couple of staffers.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
That sound about right, That sounds good.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Well, could you change the word from previous to earlier, Okay,
previous to early, change it earlier, and then that's how
and then that will be the answer. And then even
with all of that, it's going to still be heavily edited.
It's I mean, you know, you hear about these reports
where it's so heavily redacted that you don't even recognize
what the hell they're trying to tell you. That's if

(20:35):
this was a report, you wouldn't know what the hell
Kamala Harris ever said.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
True.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
The editing on this is going to be so key
anyway until we actually see and we never will. You're
not actually going to see her sit down and do
a live.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I mean, at some point there's going to have to
be something I would think that's live. But the reality
of it is this Democrats knew that Joe Biden couldn't win, right,
there's every poll in the world so that he can't win,
and so they waited until the last possible second. Because
if you go back to oh, I don't know. Last
month in July, they were saying it's impossible to replace

(21:14):
Joe Biden. Now it's impossible. And if you go back
to earlier in the year, the mood of the media
was perhaps Kamala Harris should be taken off the ticket.
They were thinking about offering her a Supreme Court seat
or something like that to get her off the ticket,
because she was a drag against Biden. And yet they
got basically a dead man elected president in twenty twenty,

(21:37):
and now they're trying to take the most unpopular vice
president in American history and somehow just squeeze hole her
into the presidency. If they can pull this off, they
can do anything.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
All right. Well, what we knew to be true, or
what we surmised at the beginning of the week is
actually ending up to be true, is that it would
not be a live interview. It would be recorded, and
she would say, because even in the earlier the week,
we didn't have confirmations, she's going to do one by
the end of the month, like she said, but she
was releasing it on a Thursday night before a holiday weekend.

(22:12):
This is guaranteed to be the least viewed of interviews.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Oh, I don't.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
I don't agree with that. I think that the Thursday
night is a pretty great time. Most Americans have to
go to work on Friday, so they're going to be
able to stay and watch it Thursday night at nine,
and then they'll talk about it a little bit on
Friday at the office, and then you've got the whole
holiday weekend where you're now cross populating with people you
don't normally see, like relatives.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
And I think that, you know, this is a pretty
good time.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
I mean, if they could have done it an hour earlier,
I think that would have been better eight o'clock, but
I guess they didn't want to mess out on the
West Coast.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
One thing's for sure, the campaign is now putting. They've
already finished it by now hopefully if they have it,
they're still working on it, but they'll get it done
by lunchtime. But they've already now edited out specific pieces
of it that they will be sending to ABC, NBC,
CBS for rebroadcast on the Sunday Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Do you believe that there was a moment when they said, Dana,
I want you to start talking, and then she gets
to say her line.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
You know. Oh what do I do? Well, just try
to cut off the answer. I'm speaking. I am now, no,
i'm speaking. I'm speaking.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Maybe you have the coach jump in there, go hey, hey, hey,
she's speaking. Hush yeah. Wow,
