Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Jonathan and Kelly Show.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Rush healthcare is important, but this is also an effort
of Democrats to stop the autocratic takeover of this country.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Kelly Nash crucial part.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Of what we're asking for his changes to the law
to rain him in so that he stops trashing the constitution.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
The Jonathan and Kelly Show.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Kelly, if you just listen to Representative Adam Smith, I
believe I'd never heard him speak before then, and I
don't think you'll be hearing him speak again, because that
is not the message that the Democrats want you to
key on. The message is the Republicans are trying to
kill in a slow, painful death without any healthcare citizens
of the world who happen to be currently residents of
the United States of America.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah, if you can get here, you get it all.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
You do get it again, an Obama phone, you get
it all.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
And thankfully Joe Biden provided airfare, bus, fair train fare,
and an app so you can schedule when you'd like
to come here. And now we're not seeing very accommodating.
Maybe this is just the Democrats are embarrassed. We've invited
these people here and look at how hospitable now you're
embarrassing us.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
We can get into all that and some more coming
up in segment three and Swamp Talk. We have an
interview Field Day on the Jonathan and Kelly Show. In
our very first segment, you're going to hear from US
Congressman Joe Wilson. Then I don't know if he had
an opportunity to hear again from mister Federco. He's not
going away.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
He's the poor father whose daughter was murdered here in
Columbia by the guy who had been arrested like what
twenty eight times or something.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
And we had a visit from Sheriff Leon Lot. We
talked a lot about community involvement efforts and also crime
statistics and the like. You could hear the entire interview
on our podcast. We will have an abbreviated version where
he speaks specifically about solicitors and magistrates. And we're going
to talk to doctor Joey, who openly admitted going into
the conversation he's not really prepared because of the government shutdown,
(01:52):
we weren't able to get the jobs numbers last Friday.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
You know what, Jonathan, I'm going to introduce some information
that Scott Besstt brought out yesterday that didn't get anywhere
near the coverage that I thought it should, but some
shockingly good news for the United States economy.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Scott Bessen, I love that South Carolinian. All right, we
will start off with a conversation that we had only
this morning. Remember we record this on Friday for you
to enjoy today, Saturday, the eleventh of October. Jelly Mash
look at the What a great week to have our
US congressman one of them. Joe Wilson. Good morning, sir, Hey,
(02:27):
good morning.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Hey, good morning, And indeed, what a week this has been.
I'm so proud of the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson.
He is really understanding that the focus of where we
are with the containing resolution is the US Senate, the
House of Lloyd's.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
With the very.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Poor leadership of Senator Schumer, things are just not working there.
But this week gave me an opportunity to get around
the district. I've been to all five counties for different events,
and it's been very inspiring to me to see the
people that I represent.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Well, we're talking about the shutdown because the Democrats are
making this about they use the fruit phrase healthcare. I
prefer to say insurance, and they want one and a
half trillion dollars so that premiums don't go up next year.
What is the Republican answer to that. I know you
got the clean Resolution right now, which means we're going
to just fund the government at its current rate, but
what is your ideas about healthcare moving forward.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
We've had it in the past to have an alternative
to Obamacare, and that is for people who really need it,
that you would have Medicare and Medicaid. But with the Obamacare,
we all knew that it was not feasible, that would
not work. The only way we'd work is that you
put more money in trillion and a half dollars, And
of course they have by providing coverage to illegal aliens,
(03:39):
have added a new focus to it that we didn't anticipate,
and that is that not only would it not work,
but if you add illegal aliens, indeed, of course it's
not going to work because they have not paid in
and will not pay in, and they've come here with
the intent of affecting our country. And the Democrats look
at this as new Democrat voters. When you hear immigrants,
(04:00):
migrants or illegal aliens, which is a proper term. No
think of it, New Democrat voters.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Now, certainly this week, I know you're very much in
a saluatory mood. And the listeners of this program certainly
understand the ends and the house of the Gaza situation
with Israel. Now, everybody in America, believe it or not,
understands the victory for Donald Trump because it was so overwhelming.
Even MSNBCCN, NABC and the like had to applaud the man.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
It was really inspiring to me to see the president
able to work with Cutter, with Tourkya, with Saudi Arabia,
and Iran actually has endorsed what President Trump has achieved
the end of conflict in Gaza. But the main thing
is to release the hostages. And so the next seventy
two hours would be very significant in terms of what
we can have with the release of the hostages. And
(04:44):
I actually last year visited near oz Kavutz where the
babies were put in microwaves for their families to see
them burned alive before they were murdered themselves. And then
I visited the music festival site where young people would beheaded.
And this can't be denied because Moas terrorists were actually
videoing this, they were having it's their video, and they
(05:05):
clearly were on drugs too, possibly captive God from Syrias.
And then I really am concerned. We're dealing with Hamas
and Article seven of their covenant of August eighteen, nineteen
eighty eight states very clearly that every Jew is to
be chased behind a rock or tree until you find
the last jew behind a rock and kill him. That
is their covenant. And so it's really important for the
(05:29):
demalization disarming of Hamas and Gaza. And then I've always
thought that Gaza could be indeed a riviera. Weh're time
about the beach when you see the people going back
to their homes, which that's encouraging to see that we're
time about a beach area on the Mediterranean. So instead
of building tunnels, I'm really hoping that Arab allies are
(05:50):
going to step in and actually monitor what redevelopment there
is and it could be developed again as a area
of hospitality for the people.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
I'm not asking you to criticize Donald Trump. I'm asking
for your assessment. It seems to me and others like
he may have opened a Pandora's box here. When he
announced earlier this week that he was going to use
money from the tariffs in order to fund the Wick
program for mothers and low income families, there's now a
(06:23):
push amongst certain groups to say he didn't even need
that money. He could have just done it straight out
by an executive order, which is ultimately what he did.
But should he then now figure out a way to
sign an executive order to pay the military so that
they're not worried as they head overseas.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
I would support an executive order to pay the military.
But what we're into again, the Schumer shut down is
so tragically clear intimidation of Senatives Schumer by socialists in
his party as they are taking over the party's step
by step and subverting the party into an extreme and
Marxist orientation. And when we say that, you can see
(07:03):
it in New York. But Donald Trump, I believe understands
we're an impass that totally is political. Could be avoided,
should have been avoided. Additionally, the spectacle that there did
shut down the government to provide illegal aliens healthcare. And
then even worse, and this is where talk radio is
so important. People now know the truth. The truth is
that indeed, one point four million illegal aliens are being
(07:26):
covered by different Obamacare programs, and that's the one point
four million we know about, and then we even know
how much it is two hundred billion dollars. Let's go
back light news, go strike you already. I want to
quote Hillary Clinton about fifteen to twenty years ago. They
have a film clip of where she points out how
terrible it is that by providing healthcare to illegal aliens,
(07:50):
that you're encouraging people to come to our country. How
they've changed their tune now. So I am just really
so proud of the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson and
then Senator John Thune as the Republican leader. And we've
always seen several of Democrats come over, two of them
in one independent of voting with the Republicans reopened the government.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Now, we did have to edit that interview, imagine that,
but only slightly. You can hear the entire interview on
our podcast. You can always get that.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Yes, the elongated all the goodness of Congressman Joe Wilson
and others are right there waiting for you on the
I Hurt Radio app. Just look for the rash Thought podcast.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
There. You know, about three weeks ago now, we saw
some sobering videos out of Charlotte for a young lady
from Ukraine who was tragically killed, and then followed up
with the introduction to the man who I often wondered
who this person would be. Well, he presented himself and
he's not happy. He's the father of a daughter who
was killed by a criminal who should have been locked up.
We'll talk more about that particular incident coming up with
(08:48):
Sheriff Ley on lot next.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Jonathan and Kelly show Jonathan Rush, try.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
To name a Democrat leader who hasn't called the president.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Hitler, Kelly Nash, I write to name.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
One who hasn't said Republicans and our policies are an
existential threat to democracy.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Justin and Kelly show, what a fun little game show
that will be. Try to name a Democratic candidate who
hasn't called for the death of all Republicans.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
We're talking about on the federal level. Are we talking
to states?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
All right, we'll get into more of Virginia's becoming a
microcosm of what the heck is happening in these United States,
and we'll get into that in a big debate they
had last night. Very interesting. That's becoming a constatement. Three.
This week we had another visit from mister Federco who
actually appeared with a couple of solicitors. They are actually
now appealing to the General Assembly.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
He's bringing up the point that I think a lot
of people have been making for many years. South Carolina
judicial system is broken. We're one of only two states
I think that actually allow the people who have to
go and sit in front of these judges to pick
the judges, which is completely asinine. Need to change that
(10:01):
otherwise you're going to keep having these problems where the
lawmakers who are the attorneys pick the judges and then
bring their clients in front of them and get them off.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
That's how you get more probiliable hour.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
It's lately said in true grit. I don't need a
good attorney. I needed a good judge on this case.
You get both now. Unfortunately, this has spelled tragedy before
and most recently highlighted in the tragedy with Logan Federrico,
Kelly Nash, Welcome in the studio, Richinally Kenny Sheriff, Leon Lott,
Hello sir, good morning.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Then good morning. Right to be with Jolligan.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Well, one of the reasons I wanted to talk to
you is because I have long since wondered who would
be the person who we would see on the news
whenever he had an opportunity in front of a camera.
Because he's going to make this his personal mission, because
he himself lost a family member and now we know
that to be mister Federco. He's not going to go away.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Now, and he shouldn't go away.
Speaker 7 (10:54):
And it's sad that it takes a young girl like
that to be murdered to get people's attention. And we
have been talking about this for quite some time. I
have talked about it and lots of press conference about
catch and release. Catch these bad guys, let them out,
catch them, let them out. It's the same few people
to commit the majority of crime. This guy that murdered
his daughter has been a rested like thirty nine times,
and he keeps getting out. That is the crack in
(11:16):
the system that I've been talking about so long. We
catch them, but somebody else releases them, and that's that's terrible.
And this young girl is an example of that. And
I hope the dad continues to scream and yell, and
now it's got politics involved in it, so it's not
going to go away anytime soon. I think it's this
is going to be a campaign issue. It's a campaign
issue now and I think that's going to carry on
(11:37):
right on through the next year.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
When you talk about politics. You brought it up before
this case, Gibson specifically as the solicitor for Richmond County,
and we.
Speaker 7 (11:47):
Also talked about the masters system too, and we made
some progress on that. I applaut to General Assembly and
governorment master, who's in charge of the master it's and
appointing them because the masters are the ones who let
them out of jail wi them, they're the ones who
set a bond on them, and they were letting every
body out. That system has been changed now. We had
a deputy shot at recently and I went to the
(12:08):
bond court on that and asked for no bond and
got no bond. So I applauded the masters for doing
the right thing on that time. But why should I
have to go to the bond here? But why should
I have to go Why shouldn't that almost be automatic?
Here's somebody four counts of attempt to murder, trying to
kill deputies. That should be an automatic. You ain't getting
out of jail. That system changed, but we're still having
problems on the prosecution side and holding these people accountable.
(12:30):
And I think you're going to see a lot of
attention to be putting on it now.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Now forgotten to quote that you gave me. I want
to ask you again, if you were able to arrest
rour percentage again of the criminals ten percent, our crime
rate would go down by.
Speaker 7 (12:44):
Ten percent, commit ninety percent of the crime. Not everybody
who's arrested needs to stay in jail, that is a fact.
But those that we identify as ones it's not going
to abide by bond and I gonna buy rules. They
gonna do whatever want. They need to stay in. That's
the only way to protect our community. And I don't
mean just for six months. They need to stay in
for a long time. That's what we built the prison
system for.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
We've got the Attorney General who is now I guess
taking the case away from Byron Gibson.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
He is sent to solicter a letter and gave him
a timeline on deciding if he's going to go for
the death penalty. Or not, And then the slister responded
that it is too early for him to make that decision.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I do not.
Speaker 7 (13:20):
The Attorney General has assigned one of his people, but
Attorney General's office, to assist the solicit in making that decision.
And while that's going on, though, we still got criminals
being released. And everybody needs to listen to that father
and listen to the anger. But that is pain. He
is talking out of pain for his daughter being executed.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
This is not in your jurisdiction. Could have actually happened
again this past weekend at South Carolina State. That shooter,
as I read it, was out on bond.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Correct.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
There's two separate shootings. One of the shootings you had
an eighteen year old. He's got a gun in his
car and he sees some people shooting. He just gets
out of his car and starts shooting too. He's out
on bond though he's been released.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
We talked about how they can Chicago. They got a
crazy crime rate. Fifty five people shot last weekend there.
That's not a problem in Chicago.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
But then that when I heard the mayor and the
governor and all of them say it.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
But that's a choice that the local voters have made
by continuing to elect people who do that. Now Here
in Richland County, we have a solicitor who's apparently gone
soft on prosecution. We've got you saying if he was
stronger on it, the crime rate would drop. So the
voters need to make that choice. In Richland County, we
(14:32):
need to do better with our elections. And I hate
to make it. You know, this sounds so ugly, but
I've heard people, I've read people on social media talking
about the fact that the only reason the media and
everybody's making a big deal about this murdered girl is
because she's a white girl. If she had been a
black girl, we wouldn't be talking about it, which is
totally false.
Speaker 7 (14:49):
That is definitely fault because I talk about all victim
is a victim. I don't care what color they are,
sex they are. This is not a race issue. This
is a right issue, different between right and wrong. Yeah,
we got to do what's right because if not, we're
going to continue to have people killed. We can put
a stop to that if we would just hold people accountable,
and we're not holding people accountable now. And you've got
some to say, well, we don't want to keep them
(15:10):
in jail on when no bomb because it costs the
taxpayers money. I don't think the taxpayers care if you
keep temper murder in jail, that's who they want to
be in jail.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
You can start to go fundme page for that.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Damn right. We will picture it right now. Again, you're
telling me ten percent, ten percent of the criminal cost
ninety percent of crime ninety percent. And is there a
doubt in your mind that a majority of those secondary
crimes that commit are violent crimes.
Speaker 7 (15:35):
Yeah, that's what usually what I'm talking about with violent crime,
breaking in people's house. That's how this young girl was murdered.
We'll go back to her story. She was visiting friends,
she was in the bedroom sleeping, and this guy breaks
in the house and there she is, so he decides
he's going to kill her.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
I consider that a violent crime.
Speaker 7 (15:51):
If you're going in somebody's home, you going in there
with the mindset somebody may be in there, so I
may have to do something to them.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Again, you could hear the entire interview on our podcast.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yep, the Rash Thought podcast is on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
And we get another interview I like this one from
doctor Joey. We get to find out about South Carolina's
economy without necessarily just leaning on the jobs report. But
next is swamp talk.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Welcome to the Jonathan and Kelly Show.
Speaker 8 (16:18):
Jonathan Rush, the Congress has obtained evidence that shows that
the Biden White House was directly involved in trying to
help start Jacksmith's investigation on the January sixth probe against
President Trump, Kelly Nash basically seiking the Justice Department on
his future rival in the twenty twenty four election.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Jonathan and Kelly Show, How could that possibly be?
Speaker 3 (16:39):
John Solomon, I've already been admonished by Tiss James. You
can't target your political enemy.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
What if you ran a campaign and your whole campaign
was I'm not elected, but if I was elected, I
would target one individual and bring them to justice. Could
that work?
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Wow? That was quite possibly one of my favorite television moments,
And I have many video moments that I can't even
decide which one's my favorite, but hearing her admonish us
and the world as it were. And by the way,
just to be clear, is there a different constitution for
if you're president and then there's a different one for
other ranking officials? And then there's a third one for
US peons.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
I don't know the Senate Judiciary Democrats. You know, they're
still up there in DC. They didn't get the time
off like the House members did because they won't vote
to open the government anyway. The official Twitter account of
the Senate Judiciary Democrats on Friday at about eleven am
tweeted out, first it was Letitia or excuse me, First
it was James Comy. Now it's Leticia James. Next it
(17:38):
could be any other Trump enemy. The Trump Bondi Justice
Department is now completely weaponized. That's what the Senate Democrats
official Twitter account has put out.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
I was already admonished this morning, early this morning by
talking he had in the newscast that we're breaking the norms.
Not the norms, we're breaking more norms watching Trump go
after his political enemies. He's got an enemies list.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
Well, okay, so is it retribution? Am I going after
a political enemy? Let's talk about James Comy? Am I
going after a political enemy? Or am I actually holding
someone accountable who went after his political enemies? See the
head that trick bag is James Comy's the one who
(18:25):
targeted could have been anybody he actually targeted Donald Trump,
But if he was targeting anyone else, he also should
be in the position he's in where he's lied to Congress,
He's falsified documents, he illegally signed warrants. This guy is
as corrupt as the day is long.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
You know what I have to ask, because now we're
finding out that the big issue is is that Donald
Trump apparently was gonna text Pam Bondy but instead put
it on the social media.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
You said that, by the way, other than the Democrats exactly,
because when how does Trump confuse? Though? Two, I'm opening
my truth, so so I'm opening my I don't believe that.
I think you want.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Social media enough to know when he opens up his phone,
which when he's opening.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Yes, I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
You think it's like Joe Biden. He just forgot what
he was doing right in the middle of opening up
his phone. And by the way, if that were true,
wouldn't it be true then that Donald Trump but had
to personally text all the members of the Grand Juries
that came in for James Comby and Tish James. Aren't
they the people who ultimately made the decision on whether
or not we had enough to move forward.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
And Leticia James, I mean, why is that one even
in dispute? It did she sign the papers? She signed
the papers, then she fought. Then she's illegally doing mortgage fraud.
I mean, that's not even like any I mean, I
don't need any more investigation here.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
It is.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
I don't care what was in her heart, unlike the
Seattle mayor. The Seattle mayor only cares what's in your
heart whether he decides whether or not you should go
to prison.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
And then off the record conversation with the Congressman Joe Wilson,
he brought up the fact not only did she get
a at her mortgage rate, she also was not paying
her full taxation as she should have in Virginia.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
You know, you got to pay your fair share.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yeah, because you got a second home, you're going to
pay a higher tax on that.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Got to pay your fair share tish for us the
American way.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
And in some cases if you are a resident from
out of state with the second home, you get an
additional fee on things like.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Your water bill.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Of course, so now she's ripping off the people paying
for water, and she's ripping off everybody.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
You're not even funding the schools properly. Tish.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
What an amazing week, and we could not recount in
the short time we have for this segment what it
means for the world to see what happened this week.
But the announcement came down in the middle of what
was a really interesting conversation having to do with crime
in America. When he got the note, when he got
the whisper and the note from Marco Rubio that we're
(20:54):
this close, We're just about to finalize the deal with
a moss.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
So you don't believe that this is really just a
distraction from the Epstein list. You don't believe you're not
buying that.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I'm not buying that at all. And then when you
look at not only the impact that Trump is having
here in the US, and we can talk about some
of those other issues coming up in a few minutes,
but while fighting off as political enemies and making sure
legislatively we're pushing the right policies and signing executive orders
to protect citizens even against their own local leader's wishes.
(21:27):
In Chicago and now Memphis, we heard Malania Trump come
out today, what an incredible announcement she had. She's not
just talking to the Russian government. She's actually had conversations
with Putin himself and members of the Russian government to
help get the Ukrainian kids back home where they belong
in the Ukraine.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Well, I hope she's going to do some tweeting about it,
like Michelle Obama used to do bring back our Girls.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Oh that's right, aver head about that.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Now, that was a powerful move when Michelle Obama took
mostly all of a minute to tweet that.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Sure that. Jimmy Kimmel's writers right now are writing some
great jokes for tonight based on her ability to communicate
through her accent and or addiction in English. So that'll
be coming up. That's always fun for the kids.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
And the Nobel Peace Prize. I know Donald Trump was
hoping to get it, and I know that Barack Obama
did win it for winning an election he had not
actually even been sworn in. I don't believe yet knowing
he won the Nobel Peace Prize just because his mere
presence was peaceful. They screwed Trump. He only ended seven wars.
They said, we can't give him credit for the eighth.
(22:33):
Yet he's been in office for ten months. He has
not ended the Eighth War yet. The Hamas thing is
not done, so they gave it to what's this lady's
name again, Mashado? Maria Karina Mashado has edged out Donald
Trump because she what does she do? She received the
Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless work to promote Democrat
(22:54):
rights to the people of Venezuela. It's not really been
going so well for her in Venezuela. She hasn't really
had much of she hasn't made much headway.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
That continues.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Yeah, the struggle goes on. I mean, I guess she
had a nice start. You've becoposed nothing, but you had
really good thoughts.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Wow, Hey, is Virginia not becoming a microcosm of what
the ills are in the United States of America? You
want to talk about people watching in a bell Weather
election coming up? This could be one of the best
bell weathers ever.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Well, and it's amazing to see that they're really just
allowing themselves, the Democrats in general, to just be swept
away with this that this guy and again this was
an easy call. Jay Jones running for Attorney General in
Virginia looks like he's probably going to win that race,
or has been looking like he was going to win
that race. I don't know what the new pollsles show
(23:45):
when those start coming out. Guy had been a housemaker
there for a House representative, I should say, for many years.
He left a few years ago into private and law practice,
decided to put his nose back into it when it
looked like there was away for him to win the
AG's race. And then this lady who is a Republican
comes out with those tweets or not tweets, text messages
(24:07):
showing what he was texting to her a few years
ago about wanting to put bullets not only in the
Speaker of the House's head, but also in the speaker's
child's head so he could die in his mother's arms.
And he's, I mean, just reveling in this idea. At
that point, the norms would have said, nobody would have
to encourage him. He would have just immediately stepped out.
(24:30):
My gosh, you know what, I didn't even realize I
had said all of that. Now, hearing it back, it's
disgusting to myself. I need to take some time and reflect.
I apologize to everybody who's been affected by this and
I'm going to step aside. That's what he should have done.
But he did. And then you get the Democrat leadership
who've basically doubled down. They're like, why would he step out?
(24:50):
Did you not hear he apologized? He apologized? Oh well,
then what else is there to do? He said, I've
taken responsibility? What does that mean? I took responsibility? You apologize?
That's not taking respon onbility.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
And if ever there were a case against early voting,
this has got to be one of them. How many
How would you like to know that you voted for
this guy?
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Well, in reality, they're Democrats.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
They don't care. That's why it's going to be interesting.
I mean, see what happens in Virginia.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
He could literally live out the idea of what Donald
Trump had talked about. Donald Trump has famously said in
twenty sixteen, I think it was before the election, I
could shoot somebody on Madison Avenue and not lose a vote.
That's this guy could actually test that theory. He could
test it right now.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Well, we can only hope that DJT will stop breaking
all the norms that I'm hearing about as he persecutes
his political enemies, and I'm glad that Brandon Johnson actually
is holding a small group to pray for DJT. That
was another one of my favorite videos of the week.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
You know, that's the Chicago mayor who I don't believe
he has a little prayer group.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
So I got to tell you, I don't think Jesus
could hear him scream. I got to tell you, though,
I think it's smart of a campaign, and I don't
know who made this call. But when Brandon Johnson does
a press conference like he did one this week, he
will take any question now. His handlers will decide whether
you actually get to voice your question, and his handlers
(26:14):
will interrupt, So Brandon Johnson himself is never put in
the awkward position like Spamberger where he doesn't reply. His
handlers are stepping in to say, we're not talking about that,
we don't have any confirmation on that. We're going to
move along now. Because the reporter was asking about an
illegal alien who had killed a resident in Brandon Johnson City.
(26:36):
But instead of Brandon having to deflect any of that,
his handlers jump in to shut down the questions. We're
going to move on now, and then we point to
someone who very friendly, who makes some kind of stupid comment.
They all have an opportunity to laugh about it as
the press conference continues. That was very smart, I thought
of his campaign.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Well, he also has the other trick that he likes
to do. There was a reporter who was saying that
he personally had been talking to a number of constituents
in Chicago, Brandon Johnson's people who were happy and wanted
the National Guard to come in and clamp down on
this and bring some sanity to it. They don't feel
(27:17):
safe in their communities, and they haven't felt safe for
a number of years. And Brenda Johnson simply said, I
don't accept the premise of your question. Next, I don't
accept the premise. That's it, and that's all you got
to say. He might as well have said, I just
I thought, look, I just wanted to have a happy
experience here. So that's it. I'm calling it.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Katie Porter is exploding all over again. This girl is
a walking nightmare and I'm sure unfashionable pants.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Ironically, I mean, the woman who scalded her husband's scalp
with scalding mashed potatoes looks like somebody who's just been
a bag of mashed potatoes, wanting around in that dress.
She is pressed, She's been pressed by follow up questions,
and she's not to have it. Democrat primaries are the
only time, this is literally the only time you get,
(28:04):
like once every four to six years, you get an
opportunity to see a reporter actually ask a question because
they're not sure which Democrat they're going to go with.
So you got like three or four running for governor
out there, which one of the three or four should
we side with? So they pressed her just a touch,
Katie Porter exploded.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
I'm literally shivering over here thinking about the pain that
guy went through. And I want to know, after you
dump mashed potatoes and your husband like that and put
him in the hospital, how are you not in prison
to this day?
Speaker 4 (28:34):
Did you know Jimi's the part where I said she's
a Democrat lawmaker in California.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I forgot. I'm sorry. Speaking of Democrats, Remember we record
this on Friday for a Saturday broadcast. Today is October
the tenth, the tenth they had the government shut down,
so this is already the eleventh, which means this is
another great day for Democrats. According to Chuck Schumer, goes
every day gets better for the Democrats.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
How does it keep getting better? I'm not sure if
I'm following Chuck's logic.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Well, the Republicans refuse to pay our military. The Republicans
are going to continue to block what they call it
undocumented healthcare.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
So every Republican voted to pay them, every vote to
keep the government open. Every single one of them voted
for that, and we even got a couple of Democrats
to vote for it. Yet it's the Republican's fault.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
I don't know, but if you ask him, he'll start
dropping the F bomb on you. So back back way
on up. When you start talking to Chuck Schumer, he's
not in a good mood and I can't figure out why,
because every day gets better for the Democrats.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Yeah, the commercial that Chuck put out on Tuesday where
he drops the F bomb in it that I thought
that the people who made the sombrero video had made
that one as well. I couldn't believe it was real,
But it actually came from his official account. So yes,
Chuck Schumer made that video.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
And Monday we're celebrating Columbus Day.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Boy, that sounds very unpc oh, but now.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
It's official or reiterated official, it's Columbus. We love the Italians.
It's what your president said.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
And the ironic thing that Donald Trump got a round
of applause from the media when he announced we're not
calling it Indigenous People's Day, We're calling it Columbus Day,
and they and the media clapped, and he was shocked.
If you see that video of Trump, he like looked up.
He's like, that's actually the media. The media is clapping
(30:20):
for this. I didn't expect that.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Oh, when we get back next week, we got to
talk about the fact that we have applause in Gaza
for Trump, we have applause in Israel for Trump, and
in the streets of Columbia they're very upset about the
Israeli flag that Daniel Rickerman hung in front of city Hall.
He didn't have authorization from the council to do that.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
No, he did that on his own. And maybe he'll
have to pay the price. I don't know what the
price is.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
We'll see if it's still up by Monday. We had
an opportunity to speak with doctor Joey von Nessen. Even
in the absence of the official federal report on jobs numbers,
he wants to give you some information about the state
of South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
That's next the Jonathan and Kelly Show. Rush.
Speaker 7 (30:57):
Yeah, I was just given a note by stage saying
that we're very close to a deal in the Middle East.
Speaker 8 (31:02):
Kelly Nash, We're gonna win so much you may even
get tired of winning, and you'll say, please, it's too
much winning, and I'll say, no, it isn't.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
It has been a big week of winning in a
lot of different ways for DJT and hopefully we'll have
another week. It's going to start this week overseas.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
That's right, he's leaving tomorrow. He's going to be heading overseas.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
So now here's the thing. We record this on Friday
for Saturday broadcast. We have an interview with doctor Joey
coming up at just a second. He'll be talking about numbers.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Yeah, and again we're all missing out on the actual
jobs numbers. But the CBO, nonpartisan CBO is they always
like to ballyhuit, did run some numbers and the Treasury Secretary,
Scott Bessen announced on Thursday that we have now turned
the corner and this is fantastic news. The deficit as
(31:54):
a percentage of GDP will fall from six point five percent,
which he pointed out that is the highest that it's
ever been during a period when we're not at war
or in and recognized as a recession. So that's the
highest percentage ever and we dropped it rather significantly, not
like six point five to six point four or six
point three or six point two, all the way down
to five point nine, which we haven't been there since
(32:17):
twenty nineteen. So we are fixing it. And he said,
I love this. I expect to see substantial tax refunds
at the beginning of next year, which will also bolster
our economy. And he said, the people who are in
the bottom fifty percent, you should expect to see the
biggest tax returns of your life.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
You know. One of the things I enjoy not only
hearing great news when we have it to share, but
although Scott best it is and I'm very proud of
the fact that he's a South Carolinian and he has
a slight speech impediment, but one of the things he's
able to do is communicate things so clearly that even
an idiot like I can understand. He really does have
a great way of communicating. I'm glad to say see
(33:00):
him doing as many television interviews as possible, and.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
It was interesting. He said in that interview yesterday. How
the first thing that Donald Trump said to him when
he told Trump he was interested in actually coming to
work for the administration, Scott, How the hell are we
going to actually lower the debt, lower the deficit, fix
the economy without sending this thing into a recession. Everybody
says it's impossible, there's no way to do it. And
(33:25):
he said, I think we can thread the needle. And
he said, this report that we just got shows us
that we have actually started to thread the needle. We
are turning things around. And then we got great news
out of China. It looks like Chi may be on
his way out. I mean, that is unbelievable. That he's
not going to meet with Trump anymore. They're saying if
he leaves the country, he might not be allowed back in.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Given that we weren't able to get an official jobs
number because of the government shutdown, we still had an
opportunity to speak specifically about the pal Meadows State with
doctor Joey von Nessen from the Darla Moore School of
Business at the University of South Carolina.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Thank guys, Normally, this would be the time when we
analyze the jobs report that came out on Friday.
Speaker 9 (34:02):
Unfortunately, we don't have a job support but we do
have other data that we're looking at. The job support
is very important, but it's one metric among many. One
analogy I like to use when we look at the
different sources of economic data and jobs data is you
can think about it like you're trying to assess the
high temperature in Columbia. So you can look at thermometers
that are all over the area. You can look at
(34:24):
the thermometer at Owen's Field, you can look at a
thermometer at USC and you have all these different thermometers
trying to assess what the high temperature is. They're all
telling you something slightly different because they're placed in different locations,
and so you have to know exactly what you're reading
and what the differences are in order to assess really
what the trends are looking like. And so you can
(34:45):
think about economic data the same way. There are a
number of different sources, but you have to compare them
and know what they're measuring in order to get a
sense of how the economy is trending well.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
So far this year.
Speaker 9 (34:56):
If we look at where the economic landscape is headed,
we've seen a more sluggish economy in twenty twenty five.
I think that's the one term we can use that
describes where we are right now. Sluggish growth, positive growth.
We're still moving in a positive direction, but growth that
has been consistently slower this year than what we saw
on twenty twenty four. And one measure to see that
(35:19):
is to look at GDP growth, which has been up
by about one point five percent this year compared to
about two point five percent last year. There are a
couple of reasons for that. Number one is that purchasing
power is still down for consumers. In other words, we're
still wrestling with these lingering effects of high inflation over
the last several years. And the other factor is to
(35:40):
back and forth on tariff policy, on trade policy, which
has caused businesses to go more into a weight and
see mode. So hiring has slowed a bit this year.
So you put those two together, you still see positive
growth this year, but growth it hasn't been as strong
as it was in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
You know, outside of the housing industry talk to us
about what could be the ramification of the Feds lowering
the rate again since we got a little bit of
a reprieve most reasons.
Speaker 9 (36:04):
Well, what the Fed has done is they've seen weaker
job growth throughout the summer months and they recognize that
that can eventually lead to the layoff of workers, and
that's what they're trying to avoid. So in a real sense,
slower job growth isn't as much of a problem in
and of itself as it is to the extent that
it's a leading indicator for future layoff activity. So sometimes
(36:26):
when companies pull back on hiring, that eventually means that
they could lay workers off because it shows that they
are not seeing as much demand. So the goal the
Fed in lowering interest rates is to help stimulate economic
activity across the board. So certainly housing is part of that,
but also providing ways for businesses to be able to
get to borrow money more cheaply, have easier access to capital,
(36:47):
and for broader consumer loans. It's not just about housing
but about consumers across the board, and so we expect
to see an uptick in economic activity throughout the rest
of twenty twenty five into early twenty twenty six as
a result It's not something that happens overnight. This is
going to be something that we see slowly worked in,
so the effects of interest rate cuts slowly make their
(37:08):
way through the economy. But that should help bolster growth
as we look ahead next year, especially if inflation stabilizes
at its current level and if the tariffs don't have
a significant effect on inflation, which they really haven't yet.
That's a recipe for stronger growth next year, lower interest rates,
and hopefully inflation that stays fairly stable where it is today.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
I'm looking at some of the manufacturing jobs that are
allegedly coming, so all of these seem to be coming
in twenty twenty seven. Like Scout motors A zouzo does
it seem like we've kind of positioned ourselves as the
place to be, or one of the states to be
in as we get ready for this next wave of manufacturing.
Speaker 9 (37:48):
Very much so. South Carolina is in an incredibly strong position,
and we are very bullish on the long run outlook.
We do have a major competitive advantage when it comes
to manufacturing. South Carolina's actually been ranked number one in
the country for employment growth in twenty twenty five. We
have strong population growth and when we look at all
the competitive advantages that we have, we are set up well.
(38:10):
And I'll just mention two very briefly. Number one is workforce.
We talked about the importance of the trades, and South
Carolina's technical college system does an exceptional job of meeting
the demands of employers by training South Carolinians with the
skills that they need to become employed locally. That's one
reason why they are in South Carolina. And then the
(38:32):
second is our geography. We're a coastal state in the southeast.
We are in a very good position to be able
to manufacture goods here in South Carolina and then either
ship them elsewhere in the US or ship them abroad
through the Port of Charleston. So we have a lot
of competitive advantages in South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
And again you could hear the complete interview with doctor
Joel on our podcast. Kelly's going to tell you where
to find that one more time.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Oh yeah, it's very easy. Just first off, you've got
to get the iHeartRadio app that's free download wherever you
download apps. And then secondly, once you're on that, you
just look for the rash Thought podcast. And I would
actually make that a preset just boom, So right there
when you got the presets on the iHeartRadio app, boom,
make us your number one favorite preset.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
And then later today when we do our fan talk
segment for the best Game Cut Coverage, Kelly's going to
tell you where we're going to find a victory in Louisiana.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
Is it possible? It is possible, Not likely, but possible.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Okay. Christopher Thompson will host the best Game Cut Coverage.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Yeah, I get it about three hours before kickoff.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
There you go, have a great Saturday, Go cock The
Jonathan N.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Kelly Show. That is our broadcast. Thank you for being
here with us. I'll show myself out until we meet
again in WVOC
