(00:10):
Welcome to another episode of reading betweenwords.
What does that really mean?
It means that the author themselves will tellyou their story.
They'll tell you why they wrote it, what theywant you to get out of it, and all the other
little details and secrets that you wouldn'tnormally get to know.
So let's join in on the lesson.

(00:34):
Welcome to another episode of reading betweenthe words.
And today, we're reading between the givingbook.
You can see for those who are watching thevideo, Risa and I are both holding up the same
book because the giving book is an anthology, but it's not just an anthology.

(00:54):
There is artwork in it.
There's poetry, all kinds of things that are inthis book.
And this one has 56 collaborators.
There's actually 57.
I just don't know how to count.
And she's showing you the back of the book witheveryone's picture on it.
There are a couple people who want to beanonymous, so, of course, there's no photo
there.
But Riza is here today to talk about hercontribution to the book.

(01:19):
So, Riza, introduce yourself just a little bitso everyone knows who you are.
Hello.
Hi, everyone.
I'm Risa Dibach.
I'm one of the contributing authors to thegiving book volume four by miss Elhurst
Kirkpatrick.
I am a reliable, flexible, a good team player, and a natural motivator for others.

(01:45):
I'm also the CEO of Winning Tandem LLC.
I'm an author, a speaker, and I consider myselfa change maker.
So It's awesome.
That's who I am.
And you do.
You create great change, and I love it.
So I I know the reason why, but our audiencedoes not know.

(02:06):
Why did you want to write something for thisbook?
K.
This book so to give a background, missKirkpatrick here is one of those I consider
senior.
We I met her on the academy that I registered.
We don't know each other personally, but that'show we got connected.

(02:30):
And she's got a very beautiful and positiveenergy.
She's always showing up.
She's always positive and very encouraging.
I felt like I'm just looking up.
She's up in the sky and I'm I'm just watching, but I'm like, I want to be like her.
And so when she put up because we have, we havea page.

(02:53):
Right?
Face Facebook page where we dump everything.
We have Wednesday and all that.
And every Wednesday, she's always winning weekafter week after week, and it's so inspiring.
So when I found out what she's doing, I don'tunderstand it in the beginning, but one of our

(03:13):
also colleague that worked with her already andknows her, Highly recommended her to me.
So I contact her, and then, eventually, sheposted again that she's interested, so I asked
her.
I mustered the courage to ask if, you know, Ican join because who doesn't want to give to

(03:34):
the giving book?
And when I joined, that opened a whole newworld for me because this book does not only
give me opportunity to give and to share myarticle here, but it opened a lot more doors.
So it I consider this not just giving by title, but it's really a giving book.

(03:55):
Why I wanted to write?
Because I want to be a part of this.
I believe the cause.
I believe what miss Kirkpatrick is, I believeher motivation for this.
I believe what she supports.
So I'm like, I want to be a part of it.
And so that's why I wrote I submitted anarticle, and I'm happy that she she included us

(04:16):
here.
Well, I have to say, Risa, I know that you gavemore than just writing an article.
And for my audience, I have to tell you, Risabrought in at least half, if not more than half
of those who were are in the book.
I and it was just phenomenal.
She goes, hey.
This person would like to join in and thisperson would like to join in and what do you

(04:39):
think about this?
And I'm like, wow.
Just keep bringing them in.
It was just it was wonderful.
And and I loved working with you on this.
It was, you've just got such a wonderful heartyourself too.
Tell us a little bit about your your part inthe book.
I you know, we call them chapters.

(04:59):
Each each one that is in there,
I'm just on page one hundred six and onehundred seven, my thoughts on turtles.
Yes.
Yeah.
So I would really like to hear the backgroundon the turtle.
What happened?
So at that time, when I decided to,participate, I felt like the writer in me is

(05:27):
still sleeping.
Oh.
I have several situations when I have writer'sblock.
Like, okay.
What do I write?
But I know I wanted to be there, and there's anopportunity.
So I prayed.
And I'm like, if it's God's will for me to bethere, he'll definitely give me something, you
know.
Understanding this is a giving book, it's notfor me.

(05:47):
It's for the readers.
It's for the receivers.
So I'm like, okay, God.
Give me something.
And the nature lover in me always likes to goon hikes, nature reserves, and all that.
And there's this, nature reserve that Ifrequent.
I'm reading from the pages.
Our neighborhood and they enjoyed everything.

(06:08):
And this particular afternoon, I was nervousbecause the deadline is coming in, and then I I
still have not finished anything.
So I'm like, okay.
I got to get something so I can hit thedeadline.
So I went I'm like, I need fresh air.
I recharge in nature a lot.
So I went out.
And may I read from some of the lines on thebook?

(06:30):
Sure.
That would be great.
Is what happened.
So okay.
I'm gonna read from some of that thing.
So there's this nature reserve that Ifrequently visit near our neighborhood.
On each visit, I enjoy the experience andviews.
Most of the time, I see birds flying freely, ducks swimming leisurely, and turtles climbing

(06:54):
and floating on floating logs in their pond.
Watching the baby turtles excitedly crawl tothe top of the log warms my heart.
But this particular day, it's so different.
I went there.
There's no I think it's about noon or afterlunch.
I went there.
There's not much people.

(07:14):
And for whatever reason, I found this oneturtle flailing.
So this is the shell.
It should be like this.
Turtle should be like that.
But this afternoon on my walk, it's like this.
It's flailing its legs up in the air.
The poor turtle is just upside down.

(07:34):
And I I felt so sorry for the turtle becauseit's so far from me, like, maybe eight foot
away, and I cannot see any stick to help it.
From any side that I can see, I'm like, it'seither I'm eight feet or 20 feet away.
So there's no way I can help.
And so that is really different.
I'll continue reading.

(07:55):
So I thought maybe it had dropped on the wrongside helplessly.
You know, when they climb on the log and thenit dropped?
But normally, they're normally in groups, butthat time, like, how did it happen?
So but I was just frustrated because there'snothing I can do to help.
But before I can think of anything I could doto help, out of the deep and the side of the

(08:20):
pond.
Like, slowly but surely, I saw them merging, floating up and circling the turtle.
And just before you know it, by by sir puttinga circle for forming a circle around, it helped
the other turtle flip back to its normal.
And as soon as it's back to normal, they wentthey're gone again.

(08:41):
Like, wherever they came from, they're back tothat.
And that really, like, I was amazed when I sawthat.
From what I have witnessed, the flip turtle'smisfortune led me to witness the wonderful
teamwork among those turtles.
They seem to extend their helping shells.

(09:01):
They don't have hands, but shells, and supporttheir fellow turtle willingly.
And I thought how beautiful that would be ifwe, human beings, would learn apply the lessons
that I learned that day is let's encourageinstead of discourage, help instead of harm.

(09:23):
So I felt like that day, I witnessed how theturtle seemed to understand the word respect
and compassion.
They seem to know when to respect their spacesand when to come together and lend their
helping shells.
I'm like, wow.
They're not talking.
But when somebody needs help, they're there, and then they leave each other alone.

(09:47):
That is just awesome.
And then I drove back home thinking about it,and it reminded me of Napoleon Hill's, quote by
Napoleon Hill.
Opportunity open comes in the form ofmisfortune or temporary defeat.
Because when I found the turtle upside down, itseems like a misfortune.

(10:07):
It seems like a defeat for him, but then it's ablessing for me to witness what took place in
front of me.
So when I came home, I'm like, that is sobeautiful.
I got a pen and a paper.
I wrote it down.
And before thirty minutes, it's complete.
And Grammarly doesn't even have to correct alot of words.
I just say it as it is, and I'm like, I loveit.

(10:30):
I'm like, oh, no.
I have something, and then I submitted it.
Oh, that's great.
And I love the story behind the story.
You know, how how you even came up with writingthat, And I had no ideas that turtles would do
that either.
I did not know they would come together as agroup and help their fellow turtle out.

(10:50):
And it's like, wow, that's actually reallyamazing.
And you got to see it in real life.
Well, and and then you took it further thanthat.
You'd been reading Napoleon Hill.
You understood what he was saying here.
You had a perfect sample and you wanted toshare it with others.
And thank you so much for sharing that in yourbook.

(11:12):
So many amazing stories.
Each one's different.
And I still love the way and I don't know howit happens, but I, you know, everyone is
blessed who gets to see this because we canhave someone from one part of the world,
someone from another part of the world, andboth of them write articles that blend in so
well with each other.

(11:32):
And that has happened with every book.
I'm getting goosebumps because it just happensevery time.
And and it's just it it amazes me.
You know, it's fourth book.
And and the fourth time it's happened again.
People have just come together that don't knoweach other, that haven't talked with each
other.
Yet it's like they all knew that they needed towrite these stories together.

(11:57):
So thank you so much.
I want to ask you, now that you've written yourpart in the book, how did that feel after it
was all done?
After I have submitted mine, I was just excitedto, to wait and see because, it's my first time

(12:21):
to be, you know, in actual anthology.
It's like I felt like a preschooler then fromscared to just participating in something.
And then I I'm following you definitely onFacebook.
Then I saw all of a sudden, I think it's in,because that was August.
And then in July in October, I thought it wouldbe published, and then all of a sudden, it's

(12:42):
still open.
It's still open, and I remembered because forthose of you, I started signing up with the
value in your academy with miss Kirkpatrick asthe coach, and there's something that stuck
with me.
It's as it's a statement that she told mebecause I also self publish my coming out book,

(13:04):
ebook.
And then for some reason, I cannot publish theI can't find it in myself to publish the paper,
but even though she already helped me, it'sready.
But I just just doesn't feel like it's theright time, so I just put it on hold.
What she told me, I still remember and I'll tryto remember it, is when it's time, you will

(13:27):
feel it.
You know?
You will have peace.
But but if you don't feel like it's the righttime, then maybe, just maybe, there's still
missing pieces that needs to fall place.
So when I was watching and waiting and itstill, you know, was not published and she she
keeps saying, okay.
It's still there's still I'm still accepting.

(13:49):
I'm like, then maybe there are missing piecesout there that needs to come together.
That's what my thoughts.
So I started praying again.
Lord, is there anything I can do to to help?
Because we we're not really, you know, talkingon a personal level, but I'm just I'm just
wondering.

(14:09):
What can I do to help?
This is a giving book.
Is there anything I can do to give to help?
Or could there be anybody out there I canconnect with her?
So one by one, God would give me names and thenor I will be talking to people and they will
express that they've been writing or this andthat then, you know, freely, I received the

(14:31):
opportunity to participate.
So I'm like, good timing.
I know of somebody who is writing up givingbook anthology, and I'm like, here.
You should this is the thing.
You know?
Contact her if you can submit by this time, then we'll let her decide.
And they they submit something.

(14:53):
They came up with something.
They complied, and they agree with everything.
And miss Kirkpatrick accepts it.
So I'm like, okay.
Up to the last minute, there will always bepeople.
God will this one, you can help by telling themabout this opportunity.
So that's all I did.
I just shared the opportunity that I receivedfreely, and I gave it freely.

(15:17):
I was just too excited.
I even once told you, like, it felt like I amgiven an assistant Yeah.
To just spread the word.
Yeah.
And you did really well.
And that's interesting that that you felt thatbecause there were others who wrote in the book
who also felt the same thing, who startedsharing it with others, and and then they would

(15:40):
contact me.
Is it okay if so and so?
Do you still have room?
Is there still time?
And so right up right up until I absolutely hadto get it get it finished because excuse me.
So so pardon me.
We definitely had a deadline for it, and itwas, like, right up until the day before and

(16:02):
still getting getting people coming in.
I finally had to say, nope.
I will have to wait until the next one.
In fact, even two days after we published itand put on Amazon as a Kindle book, I still got
had people saying, is there still time for yourbook?
And it's like, I'm sorry.
We already put it up on Kindle.
But but so there will be a volume five.

(16:25):
We've already got people lined up for it.
But, yeah, that was that was just beautiful theway and I love it that you prayed and God
answered right away.
And both times and, oh, it's just it'swonderful.
You know, the thing I really like about this isbringing everybody together is hearing the

(16:49):
stories.
I mean, we have recipes in here.
So my grandson, did the anime work.
And since he's eating something, I put it inthe start of where the recipes are in the book.
And and and that was just you know, that's howI say things just flow together.
He had no idea.
I didn't even know he's gonna have recipes inthe book.

(17:10):
And he sent that picture, and then someone sentme something else.
And and just amazing amazing stories and photosin here.
Yeah.
There's just
so many mind?
I have a
I'll show you one of them.
Don't mind?
I have a story.
Oh, that's beautiful.

(17:30):
Yeah.
The last picture you showed
Uh-huh.
The girl on the
On the
Turner girl Yeah.
Her page.
Yeah.
I was we were together at the ThanksgivingThanksgiving dinner.
She's the granddaughter of the person who gotused to minister to my mother-in-law.

(17:50):
And she was there.
We seldom see each other, but then on the spotbecause, like, why don't you mention the giving
book to her?
She's a young missionary, and I'm like, oh, Idon't know.
But I'm like, hey.
Do you have a minute?
And she's like, yes.
What is it?
I'm like, I'm there's a book I participated,and it's gonna be published soon.

(18:10):
And you can be an author if you submitted anarticle, but I don't know if you're ready.
And she's like, what do you need?
And within five minutes, she's like, I have aphone ready.
She she I'm like, what's your email?
She sent it to me, and here's my info.
Here's my bio.
Here's my photo.
And I'm like, in five minutes.
She turned it over to me, and she made it tothe book.

(18:32):
That's awesome.
That is awesome.
I, I love that.
You know, I was just going through here, andit's like, oh, here's another one.
So here's someone has submitted poetry.
And and it has to do with the trees andcoloring.
Someone else submitted something about treesand all the colors that are there, and it's

(18:55):
like, wow.
How does this keep happening?
I had an artist submit their artwork, which wasjust beautiful.
Danny z put something in this.
And then we have Danny Petty.
And and how I talked with her is, on herFacebook page, she had this beautiful poem.

(19:17):
And it's like, oh, that is just awesome.
So I wrote and asked if she would like to putit in the giving book.
I explained what it was, and she did.
And then the more I got to know, I didn't knowthat she had read a children's book.
And the queen, the bear, and the bumblebee.
Cute, cute story.
So it's just wonderful.

(19:38):
And as you can see, you know, I give everybodya full page to write their bio, tell you a
little bit more about them and how to connectwith them.
You know, here's here's Beverly, the one whodrew the picture of the tree and talks about
her.
And her and I actually are, in a,accountability group together and she's in The

(20:01):
UK and I'm here.
And and but, yeah, we get along so great.
So yeah.
You know, talking with with the people thatyou've brought in and all their amazing
stories, and it's great that you have aconnection with them.
Now you all are in it in here.
And, you know, you can see on the very firstvolume, there is no number one bestseller

(20:24):
because that was never the intent for thisbook.
This book was just about giving.
However, when it came to the second volume, the, some of the the co authors, the ones who
actually had written a story, asked if theycould get to number one.
And I said, well, we'll see.
And so we got it to number one.

(20:44):
We got the next volume.
There's people who ask, can we get this one tonumber one?
It's like, okay.
Because I'm giving them something that theyreally desire.
And now this volume, some of the people havenever written anything before, and now they're
all number one best selling authors, which iswonderful.
I love being able to just give.

(21:06):
Everything about the book is giving, you know, gives to a nonprofit.
It gives to the reader.
It gives to those who submitted something.
And, it's just wonderful.
It's beautiful.
I like it.
It's it's a book that keeps on giving.
Oh, yes.
Yes.
It's it really does.

(21:26):
You know, some of the some people who wrote inthe first volume have been in every volume,
and, some of the ones who have have writtendidn't want to write a book, had no desire to
write a book.
They thought, well, it might be nice, but now Idon't wanna do that.
I don't wanna go through all the stuff thatgoes with it.

(21:48):
So for them, this gave them a place to do that.
Now three of them, three of them Nice.
Were writing their own books.
It's wonderful.
And and I got the idea for the anthology fromsomeone's anthology that I was in.
And I was like, wonderful.
And then all the the prophets went to anonprofit and I thought that's wonderful.

(22:09):
So I wanted to do that too.
And now you have an anthology coming up too.
I'm very excited about that one.
So you see that it just keeps giving around andaround and going.
And who knows?
Who knows where this is actually gonna go?
I'm just so excited about it.
So tell us a little bit about about you.

(22:31):
What is it that you do?
You're you're a coach for others.
Is that correct?
Well, I started as an academic tutor tointernational students.
There are Korean students in The Philippines.
They don't speak basic English, so that's whereI come in.
And I just enjoy, helping other people.
Yeah.
So when I came here in The US, my Englishpronunciation because this is not my first this

(22:58):
is not my mother tongue.
K?
So I have I still have some accent.
I know the basic, but I'm not as fluent asothers.
There's a coworker that laughed at one of thewords I said.
So I thought, you know, I need to do somethingto empower myself.
It it I may not be perfect, but as long as Idid something, then I'm good enough.

(23:21):
You know?
I can just
just
let it slide.
Let it slide.
I did something about it.
I'm not still perfect, but I did something.
So that's that's fine.
That's fine.
So I got into this.
So I have a love for writing ever since I was akid.
I just, you know, I just forgot about it overthe years because nobody's really cheering on
me.

(23:42):
And then when I met you and then in the valuein the academy, you said something that you
called that value, and you reminded me of it.
And God used that to remind me that, hey.
There's gifts in you.
There's this.
And now I find myself I just enjoy writing.

(24:03):
I really like I I compose songs, but I don'tknow.
They said I am a songwriter, but I'm like, actually, the songs that I wrote, it's also
inspired.
I will just see the words floating.
I will hear the tunes.
It comes in package.
I just write it down, and then I just rememberthe tune.
So that's how I I became a songwriter.

(24:25):
So I'm like, okay.
I think it's part of my gift to write, and tospeak and to to coach because I just like
helping people.
I know how it is to be an underdog.
So when you you have been one, when you seeone, you want to help them.
So that's my mission.

(24:46):
That's my purpose.
That's one of my why.
I just want to help.
So this giving book reminds me of my missionand my purpose.
I want to give.
My life is a giving life.
Really, I give.
Really, I receive.
So I'm thankful for this.
Really, it's a blessing.
There's a lot of stories that I know about thisbook.

(25:07):
Oh, okay.
Very humbling.
Well
