Let's get into today's stories. We're going to be talking about
some new news about Sidney Sweeney and Glenn Powell from
Glenn Powell's ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris.
We're going to talk about summerhouse news.
We're going to talk about the Traders season forecast.
We're going to talk about Caitlin Bristow's new song and
Sabrina Carpenter's album cover.And then I'm going to nominate a

Petty Weight Champion of the Week and share my This Week in
Petty. OK, so if you can remember, and
if you can't, that would be crazy because I talked about
this extensively on the pod. But if you can remember, back in
2023, Glenn Powell and Sidney Sweeney were filming their movie
Anyone But You, and there were all these rumors that they were

basically having affairs on their partners.
So Sidney and her fiance were together.
Jonathan Devino. They have now split and then
Glenn Powell was dating Gigi Paris.
So they began dating in 2020 andthis was filming in 2023.
So like it is a long term relationship.

(01:05):
So when she went on this podcast, it's called too much.
She talked about how basically they didn't hook up or like she,
well, she OK, she said she doesn't definitively know that
they didn't hook up, but she, asof right now, she believes that,
you know, they didn't hook up, that it was all for PR, which I

(01:25):
think is very interesting that we're getting a little pullback
on the curtain of PR relationships.
So basically what had happened is people picked up that they
were filming the movie in Australia.
They were looking super cute on that sailboat in their bathing
suits. Their management teams were
like, OK, we got to lean into this.

(01:47):
We got to sell the movie. And this is actually something
that I didn't know, but I listened to to Shannon on
Fluently Forward this week talking about Sidney Sweeney and
her career, and I didn't know that she executive produced this
movie. So I feel like there was a lot
riding on this movie to be successful.

(02:08):
Not saying what they did was correct, but I think that that
just provides a little bit more context for what was happening.
And so they were, yeah, told to lean in.
And boy, did they lean in. So I think this is kind of what
happened with Gigi and Glenn. Obviously, Gigi's like, OK,

(02:29):
everyone in the world thinks that I'm being cheated on and
like that I'm Boo Boo the fool. Can you, like, clear this up?
And he was like, no, and was actually upset about it, which
is crazy. She's like, I told him I was
upset, he got upset. I asked for some support.
And it just like the conversation didn't go well.

(02:49):
He said that it was just his job.
And she's like, OK, so you're just going to let the world
think that you're having an affair on me for the sake of
this fucking movie and the sake of your work.
And she just thought that like he would drop everything for his
career, basically like he would put his career over their

(03:11):
relationship. And she's just like, that's just
something that I couldn't do. She was like talking about how
she like, basically like fell out of love with him like almost
instant and was just shocked that he would be so flippant and
like throw away this three-year long relationship for, you know,

(03:33):
PR, even though I will say the PR did work.
He is, he was like the moment 2023-2024.
So I, I wonder if he's happy. That's, that's what I want to
know. So, yeah, she was supposed to go
to Australia to visit him while they were filming.
And he's like, you better not come because then it would
reveal that we aren't actually like in this affair.

(03:56):
So that's crazy, but Glenn has talked about this over the past
couple years as well. He said his side of the story is
he said, quote Well, look, the only reason it made things
harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going
through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour.
So basically his spin is that they had already broken up and

(04:21):
or I guess it's like maybe not even it's like the first time I
read this, it was like they had already broken up.
Then he had to fake flirt with Sydney Sweeney so hard.
But maybe he meant that, you know, they decided to do this.
They broke up and then they had to dial it up doing the
promotional tour. Maybe I feel like that's a more

generous interpretation of this quote, but that's what acting
is, baby. That is seriously, that is what
acting is. When you were upset and you have
to act like you're flirty, fun, and carefree.
