(00:00):
Let's talk about the reason for the season.
Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, the.
One month reflection or Right, That's where we're at about
right now. About one month later, yeah.
Isn't that so crazy? How are you feeling about it?
One month? One month out.
I am very glad that we are recording a month later.
I feel like, I don't know, like because of what I was doing the
(00:22):
first week of October, I feel like I was really slow on the
uptake of like listening to the album.
I feel like her like past few releases.
It was like, OK, the album dropped that day.
And even if I wasn't listening the night of, like I didn't not
listen to torture department thenight of once I saw how many
songs or artwork, but like the next day, like I was like, I
don't think I fully listened to this one until after the
(00:45):
weekend. It was like probably like Monday
morning on my way to school because I was like stuck in the
car with like people who didn't want to listen to Taylor Swift
and I couldn't like command the radio to play it.
And I'm the type of person who wants to listen to the album
chronologically the first time. So I had to sneak on every song
for like 1 song. That's sad.
(01:07):
That's. Fun Chat was blowing up about
one of the songs. That's song #9 I can't jump
forward and listen to it, but like we're shit talking.
It's like I need to go listen toit.
And then I was like anti swifty take.
Yeah, it was super anti Swifty Take won't name names Love and
Light. Yeah, Love and Light.
And they have been on this podcast before.
But yeah, I thought that was really funny because our group
(01:31):
was talking about the album, which we don't usually talk
about Taylor Swift too much. They kept referencing lyrics
from Wood. But because I was in Australia
and I was like, I was like on this like rainforest, like Dain
tree tour that day and I was like mostly out of service.
(01:51):
I like had to download it, but like I couldn't really like I
wasn't really focusing. So I downloaded the PG like the
radio version and. It was when our friend was up.
Yeah, so when our friend was like Oh my God, she says like
crazy, like dignitize and stuff like that, even though she like
doesn't I was like what? I was like literally where and
like people kept me and like shesays wet and then I was like
(02:14):
literally where? And then I I finally clocked or
like Dick in father figure and then I finally clocked that I
had downloaded the PG version. So, or a certified PG?
Yeah, she said. I'm playing this with the trunk
or treat. Yeah, no, exactly.
Trunk or treat appropriate. Yeah.
(02:35):
But like you told me that you were lukewarm on this.
So yes, I have some takes. I'm glad to be on the podcast so
we can kind of talk about it. I think there's strong sections
of the album and I there are some things that I just don't
get. What don't you get?
(02:56):
I'm so curious. So I feel like so when I think
about like the thematic arch of the album or the the era of it
all, like some of these songs are are to me life of a showgirl
like and some are like, why did you put that song on this album?
(03:17):
So and I have some takes about like not the song writing of
like, why is there stuff writinglike this of the like, why is
she writing like wood or anything?
But I'm like, why are this? I think of music from like
sometimes like why are we being Uber specific about this?
Like it's like less relatable when I feel like sometimes when
(03:39):
we're Uber specific about thingsI can't relate to as a listener.
And then I think, third, I'm nota big Sabrina Carpenter fan, and
there's just a little. Bit.
There's a little bit like, you know, Sabrina Carpenter is
Taylor Swift's like contemporaryat this point.
And Sabrina had been previously like influenced a bit by Taylor
(04:02):
and now I feel like Taylor's influenced by Sabrina and some
of it lands and some of it doesn't for me.
And I just feel like the times where like it doesn't land.
I'm like the re listenability ofthis song is not something I'm
like seeking out, but I am excited to talk about it because
there are definitely some songs that I liked on the first listen
(04:22):
that I still like listening to now.
And there's songs I didn't like on the first listen that I'm
like, wait, I didn't give this one enough credit.
Totally. The middle part of the album is
a struggle for me, which I feel like is why I'm not like jumping
to like I want to listen to the album cuz like, I don't
necessarily need to listen to like three of the four songs in
the middle of the album. Yeah.
(04:43):
Yeah, it's so funny because obviously I'm a huge Taylor
Swift fan. But then sometimes, like the
other day, I was like, oh, I should put a lover.
Like, I don't know. I was just feeling like that.
And then I was like, oh, no. Like, I hate like, half these
songs. Like, it has like,
simultaneously, like, one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs,
like Cruel Summer, like one of her most popular songs.
And then I was, like, looking atsome of the other ones.
And I was like, oh, like, thank you so much for listening.
