(00:03):
Hey, welcome to real beauty withThis is part two of my awesome
conversation with ChristinaFernandez.
So we will continue to speakabout.
Lashes brows, um, differenttrends.
And all things, beauty andeverything else in between.

(00:25):
So I appreciate last week.
I definitely kicked off theepisode.
With a little bit of a downer.
Um, where I had mentioned.
And, um, and I guess a littletrigger warning.
Um, I'd mentioned that I'd gonethrough my second miscarriage
or.
So I thought last week, Um, andhonestly, looking back, I

(00:48):
actually wish that was the case, which is a terrible thing to
think.
Um, but now it's neuron, youknow, a week later I found out
that.
Unfortunately, I had an Kotickpregnancy.
Which through my research Iunderstand is very rare.
Um, I've spoken about this.

(01:09):
On Instagram.
I know I've been a little bitquiet on social media and I
guess I'm just trying to kind ofdeal All of this myself.
Um, So, unfortunately he had acontact pregnancy.
Um, and it wasn't caught inenough time despite.
Trying to go, um, you know, tohospital a couple of times to my

(01:34):
doctor.
Um, and then I ended up havingemergency surgery while I was on
vacation.
My Thai Clearly, I don't likedoing things by half.
I like to have that touch ofdramatic newness.
Um, So, yeah, I had emergencysurgery where they had to
remove, um, the pregnancy, whichhad ruptured my right fallopian

(01:59):
tube.
Um, some, fortunately they alsohad to remove the tube, which
sucked.
Um, so I'm just down to the leftside, which I'm feeling very
optimistic about.
Um, and certainly the lastcouple of days.
I feel like it's been verysurreal.
Um, I think fortunately we'vehad family in time in town, so

(02:25):
it's actually being a welcomedistraction.
Um, I'm kind of dreading themgoing and then.
We're definitely going to havemore time You know, reflect and
think about it.
But I hope by that point, I willbe less aware.
I feel at the moment I'm walkinglike an old Um, To be honest.

(02:46):
The pain I feel right now is asif I've given birth.
And it sucks cause I haven't.
Um, so I feel like it's bringingback a lot of memories of when I
had Luna.
That you know, without the baby.
Um, but anyway, Um, I don't wantto, you know, continue to put a

(03:07):
downer on my punk-ass.
Um, But I will continue toupdate you guys.
Hopefully I will heal soon.
Um, and I have a checkup with mydoctor in a week.
So I'm looking forward to kindof hearing.
Whether what the next steps are.
What does this mean?
Um, So I definitely feelfortunate.

(03:30):
Um, despite the circumstances.
And later on, I will be kind ofinterviewing a couple people
that are experts within thespace and.
You know, certainly for me, um,this has been a whole education,
even just going through.
The miscarriage initially.

(03:50):
I didn't truly understand.
The process.
I wasn't exposed to it before.
Again, women, we are not thebest at.
Talking about these types ofsubjects.
Subjects.
And of course, why would beright?
We You know, Made to feel likewe can't speak about pregnancy
until we're at the 12 week mark.

(04:12):
And then we announce it.
It's all over Instagram.
Um, or social media, you tellyour friends and family, Um,
certainly kind of Going throughthis.
For the second time, but withdifferent circumstances, It's
horrible.
Um, not Able to kind of makepeople aware at work Feeling

(04:32):
good or my hormones are all overthe place.
And then it's like, unfortunately, that guilt and
shame that when you do lose ababy, It's as if you can't
address it or talk about.
At it, which sucks.
Um, and you It definitely wasn'teasy.
Talking about it so openly onsocial media.

(04:54):
And I appreciate all of thecomments.
Messages, um, And theoverwhelming response of thank
you for talking about it.
So.
Oh, no.
I try not to, um, you know, avoid discussions, but.
It's definitely not been easy.
So anyway, without further ado, before I get emotional, no one

(05:19):
needs to hear this on theircommute to, or from Um, but I
just want to say I appreciate itand I hope you don't mind me.
Continuing to kind of talk aboutthis subject as I learn to deal
with it and, um, educate myselfand others.
Around it.
Um, It definitely helps me withthe healing process.

(05:42):
So.
I will stop talking.
Well, pass it back to, uh,Christina Fernandez, who I love
talking to, and I really hopeyou guys.
Enjoy it.
And, um, again, I appreciate allof the support I continue to
say, but, um, it really means alot.
There's just being able to kindof This podcast and have this

(06:04):
platform, I feel.
Very very fortunate.

francene (06:22):
It's so much more fashionable to have like big
brows, like compared to when Iwas growing up.
I love Christina ALA.
And even when my mom was growingup, like brows were very thin,
they were over clocked.
Um, so I, I kinda appreciatethis more, kinda natural.
Like we want them bushy, but I'mtrying to get my head around

(06:45):
them.
Oh, what's a new trend.
It's like, Lamination.
Is it lamination?

christina (06:50):
Yes.
So it's, it's called brow.
Yes.

francene (06:52):
Yes.
Brow.
Tell me more about that.

christina (06:55):
I'm I mean, your eyebrows still look great if you
haven't done them in threeyears.
Um, so brow lamination is notfor everybody.
So brow lamination gives youthat lifted look where you're
pretty much combining theeyebrow hair up.
It's meant to give you a lookwhere they appear to be fuller,

(07:18):
but they only could be fuller.
And even if you also tint them, tinting is, is only 10 thing is
only, um, Temporary mm-hmm soyou constantly have to tend them
to keep up with the look forsome people, eyebrow lamination
looks amazing on them becausethey just have the format of the
eyebrows to be lifted up and forit to stay like that.
And some people like the crazybushy look and they don't do

(07:41):
anything to them.
So eyebrow amination I thinkit's good.
I feel like it's not foreveryone though.
and usually when people do comein or they do, or I do see that
they actually book online.
I ask them, Hey, do you knowwhat it entails?
Um, you know, that it, you know,we have to pretty much test it
out and see if it fits you andsee maybe the whole technique or

(08:02):
the whole format of lifting itup.
We don't have to use it on thewhole eyebrow so we can use it
on half the eyebrow and this, you can still get the same look,
the purpose of it.
it replaces like a wax.
I know a lot of people are doingwaxes yeah.
For their eyebrows and it keepsthe hair in place.
So the lamination also, youdon't have to get that crazy

(08:22):
lifted.
Look, you can also get that nicewax look where it creates the
eyebrows, make them flat someparts of the eyebrows straight
up.
So it doesn't move.
And every morning you don't haveto calm them.
You just color them or do whatyou do with them.
I feel

francene (08:36):
like we're always kind of searching for that.
Um, The convenience.
Right?
Mm-hmm like, we wanna just wakeup and go.
So microblading, like laminationspray, tan, like whatever we can
do just to wake up and haveless, less stuff to do in our
bodies.
I mean, for me, I'm all for it.

(08:58):
Like anything for an easier

christina (08:59):
life.
Yes, absolutely.

francene (09:03):
So I guess, um, when you're looking at makeup and
then you're taking intoconsideration, um, the browse.
When you focus on someone'smakeup.
So say if I'm, you know, lookingokay.
I work in corporate.
So in the mornings I've limitedtime, mainly because I have a
four year old.

(09:23):
So I'm constantly trying tobattle with her to get ready
for.
Going to school or going todaycare.
Um, is there any kinda areas ofyour face or makeup products
that you are like, this is amust, like every day, this's a
must.
If you just do your brows or youat mascara, like what would you
kind of recommend for the kindaeveryday, um,

christina (09:44):
girl?
So I'm also a mom of a five yearold girl, which.
I also have a boy, who's now ateenager, but I felt like
getting ready in the morning, literally drags with these
girls.
They're so slow.
so I, I think the most go to,and they're just slow.

(10:06):
They're whiny.
They, yeah, they're verysensitive in the morning.
Yeah.
So from me, nice way of paintingit.
so for me, I throw on concealermoisturizer.
Concealer and make sure myeyebrows look good.
Um, lip.
And for me, that's my everydaylook, if, um, I feel like

(10:27):
putting on a little browser.
Um, so what I actually have, Iuse my own brand, which is a
concealer to foundation stick.
And I focus on more of my undereyes because that's where I, you
know, I feel like they're alittle dark.
I throw on lipstick.
I make sure my eyebrows are doneand I don't even put on mascara.
Sometimes.
I just, you know, I would loveto have, you know, to have the

(10:50):
right mascara.
Um, but sometimes I just don'tfeel like putting on lashes or
just putting on mascara.
And as long as I feel like youreyebrows are done and a little
lipstick and concealer, I thinkyou're ready to go

francene (11:04):
oh yeah, for sure.
Anything just to make you looklike you're more awake yes.
Um, so on that, is there anykinda pre um, Products that you
would use before you startputting on makeup.
So you have rose water and Iknow you have other products.

(11:25):
I love rose bar.
So tell me all about

christina (11:29):
it.
So rose water.
Is actually also a setting sprayfor makeup.
So rose water, you can use a setof a primer.
You can use it before, afteryour moisturizer, you spray your
face.
You can just go throw on somelipstick and go, or you can also
use that as you're prepping soyou can use the rose water.

(11:50):
After your moisturizer and startputting on your foundation.
If it's depending on the lookthat you're going for, it is a
little wet, but once you're, ifyou're applying your foundation,
it just blends right in, putmore rose water after the
foundation, finish your look andspray more rose water at the
end.
And it is perfect for a settingspray.

(12:10):
Oh,

francene (12:11):
that's awesome.
I did not know that.
Um,

christina (12:14):
and then for, but also use primer.
So you would use the primerbefore the rosewater.
Ah,

francene (12:20):
do you know, I'm so bad at using primer.
I've also never used the sangspray.
Um, so I'm definitely gonna tryrose war for sure.
Um,

christina (12:30):
yes, if you're, if you're looking just for one
thing.
Yeah.
I think setting spray or rosewater, it'd be perfect.
Okay,

francene (12:37):
great.
I will definitely take thatadvice.
And when it comes to concealerand foundation, what are your
tips for application?
Do you use a sponge, a brush?
Do you use your fingers?
Like what do you think has thebest

christina (12:52):
result?
I, I I've been going, I go backand forth.
Um, right now what I'm using isa beauty blender.
Yeah.
Um, so.
Pretty or I use, I do, I am theold school finger girl where I
do use my finger.
Um, but I think if, um,Basically, I've gone through the
period where I was using abrush.

(13:13):
Um, but I think the best, what Ifind more better for me right
now that I'm using is thesponge, the beauty, blender,
beauty, blending sponges.
I think it for a concealer, itworks great.
It blends right in and you canjust go, um, that's, that's what
I find best.
And I don't use heavyfoundation, um, on an everyday

(13:34):
basis.
I, I do use like a stick where Ijust.
Coloring my imperfections, if Ihave any, um, for that, you
know, for that day or that weekand then pretty much just
focusing on clearing up my darkcircles with the stick.

francene (13:50):
Yeah.
And my skin's really bad, especially, um, You know, kind
of monthly, I will get like oneor two massive pimples that I
swear to God, nothing will coverthem up.
Um, but I also have like a lotof red, red pigments.
So I always feel in the morning,it's always my under eye.

(14:10):
And then I will kind of.
Fill in areas, but I'm the same, like, I don't love wearing
foundation or feeling anythingheavy on my face, but at the
same time I want the coverage, you know, I want, yeah.
I want my skin to be clear.

christina (14:24):
yeah, definitely not.
I think with you, definitely notsomething heavy every day.
Maybe just a liquid tofoundation stick would do the
job, especially if you're doingit every day.

francene (14:36):
Yes.
And, you know, that's, and Idunno how you kind of felt from
like a business standpoint, going through the last couple of
years of COVID.
Um, but for me, and my full timejob is working in a corporate
office.
It was such a nice break fromdoing my hair from doing my

(14:57):
makeup.
Like, honestly, my skin hasnever looked better and now
we're like, I go into the officeevery single day and I'm like,
God, sometimes my skin looks sodu and I do a lot of face masks.
Like I really look after myskin, but I'm like, God, it's so
much better when you wearnothing.
Yeah.
And then you fall into theroutine of like, oh, I feel like

(15:17):
I have to, you know,

christina (15:19):
I know I was going through.
So before I actually came upwith my skincare and makeup
line, the first products that Idid come up with was skincare.
Yeah.
And before that I stoppedbuying, uh, products in the
store.
I actually started going ontoPinterest and Googling natural
mask to do at home.

(15:39):
Yeah.
With.
Flower, whatever I can find justfor whatever issue I was having
at the time for my face acnescarring was big for me, dry
skin, flaky skin.
Then when I did come up with myskincare line, everything in my
skincare line was vitamins ornatural products.
Mm-hmm

francene (16:00):
And is there, what would you recommend, um, in your
skincare routine for?
Um, so I'll.
Take myself as an example, Ihave like combination skin, um,
mainly cuz I live in Texas.
So I grew up in Scotland and myskin was very flaky, very dry

(16:20):
and moving to Texas where it'sso hot and humid.
I feel like it's my skin's got alot better, but then it's so
oily sometimes.
Like I really struggle with likemy T-zone.

christina (16:34):
Um, so I mean, what we, I like simple skincare.
I hate.
Five to six different thingsthat you have to do for
skincare.
Yeah.
So what I, I use a lot of my ownproducts and I do have a, uh,
face wash that has vitamin C andvitamin E and it's for all skin
types.

(16:54):
And I've noticed by co beingconsistent with it.
You do.
I started to see like my acnescarring going down my face,
feeling more, um, moisturizedand a lot of women who do have
oily of combination skin havebeen using it as well.
they've had good, really goodresults.
Um, also what's also, you couldbe using for all types of skin

(17:14):
is also a H ironic acid serum.
Yeah, which absorbs into theskin.
It could be used as amoisturizer.

francene (17:22):
Yeah.
I really need to, um, add that.
I'm do, you know, I'm good withskincare, but I'm also sometimes
inconsistent that when I run outof something, I will then try
something else and I don'ttypically replace it with that
same ingredient.
So then, I mean, honestly, that's actually probably why,
like my.

(17:42):
I I see sometimes it looksamazing and other times I'm
like, God, are you OK?
Skin?

christina (17:49):
hyaluronic acid is huge on a lot of products.
Even in lip care, they'reputting H acid because it it's
for so many things.
It's for a lines and wrinkles.
It's for moisture it's for a lotof different.
Yeah.

francene (18:05):
Okay.
I will definitely look intothat.
Cause I think that's the oneingredient I don't have in any
of my skincare right now.
Um, so I will definitely followup, um, How did you get into the
teaching side of things?
Was that always something youwere passionate about on always
the plan?
Um,

christina (18:24):
I loved teaching.
I just never knew that I wasreally good at it.
Um, I always loved teaching, butI never wanted to teach in a
school.
like education, educationalacademic courses, but I love
teaching something that I loveto do.
And the reason why I got intoteaching is because I started to
notice.
People that were getting intobecoming trainers were charging

(18:49):
so much money and not teachingeverything and leaving a lot of
things out.
Also, they were teaching onlyhalf of the technique, knowing
that new techniques have comeout and they weren't targeting
it, but charging for a wholeother.
Yeah.
Um, to learn that technique.
So all my classes, I teach alltechniques and all my classes,

(19:13):
and whenever there's somethingnew, it doesn't have to be the
next year.
If it comes out in two weeks,I'm going to te learn it and
teach it to my class.

francene (19:22):
That's awesome.
Um, yeah, that's so good.
I'm I feel like that's.
So much of what people don't doto your point, they will kinda
hide things away and then kindof take advantage of oh, great.
Now I know.
And I'm willing to share thiswith you, so pay for more.
Um, right.
So what are you seeing as thekinda key trends coming up for,

(19:44):
um, specifically makeup?
Cause I feel like it involves.
All the time from baking fromcontouring, we mentioned the
lamination of your brows.
I feel like I can't keep up andI research quite a lot.

christina (19:58):
yeah.
So makeup, I think for spring, for spring makeup is more of a
mentality.
Um, more of, um, what is itcalled?
Um, Holographic look.
Yeah.
Um, they're doing that veryshiny, you know, lip glosses in
now.
Um, now that we're starting toslow down on wearing masks, a

(20:19):
lot of people are starting towear the lip gloss.
Now, um, bright colors are gonnastill be in, but more nudes.
Um, nude.
It's like a mixture.
I think more, more nudes forthis, this spring and summer,
but more, a lot more glasses.
I've been seeing a lot moreglasses, a lot of glitter and
glam.

francene (20:37):
Yeah.
I'm honestly, I'm all aboutthis.
Especially after wearing a mask,I feel like the minute we kinda
step back from wear masks a lothere.
I've never worn so much lipstickthan I have in the last, like
five months and bought so muchlipstick.
I missed it so much.

christina (20:57):
Yeah.
We always in the store and wealways grab a lipstick, right?

francene (21:01):
Yes.
Oh my and the same, likeanything glitter shimmer.
I'm all for it.
Um, so what has been well

christina (21:11):
also in the, in the lash business color is in, so
I've been seeing a lot ofrequests for color lashes or a
little bit of color in theirlashes.
Yeah.

francene (21:20):
Only gosh, but wait, like their real

christina (21:22):
lashes are like, no, just some extensions with
extensions when they requestextensions.
Yeah.
So you're gonna see a lot ofcolor in their eyes because
they're always, they'rerequesting glitter and they're
requesting colored lash.

francene (21:35):
Oh, I can definitely jump on board with this trend.
So knowing that you've broughtup, um, lash extensions, this
has been one space that I havereally wanted to try, but I'm
fearful that it will ruin mynatural lashes.
So tell me, um, how kind arethey to your eyes?

(22:01):
Like, would you recommend them, like, are there best ways of
like.
Doing proper maintenance if youhave eyelash

christina (22:08):
extensions.
Yes.
So, um, a lot of people thinkthat you lose your lash, your
natural lashes, and it's a totalmyth.
Yeah.
What happens is.
We lose two to three lashes aday 21 lashes a week 43 lashes
every two weeks, um, 63 lashesevery three weeks.
But we don't, if we don't havelash extensions on, we don't

(22:30):
even notice we're losing thatmany because we're rubbing our
eyes.
We're sleeping.
Yeah.
They're falling off and all, youknow, throughout the day now,
when we actually attach.
Hair onto each and, or, youknow, self-made fans to make the
volume.
We're attaching them to everysingle hair.
So we each, so each of us havebetween 90 to 125 hairs on their

(22:53):
eye, on our eyes.
And we're lash artists are toadhesive.
Um, Lash extensions to createvolume looks.
And what they do is if you aredue to shed, we also go through
a 30 to 60 day shedding cycle,which that's when people have

(23:14):
their lash extensions on.
For four to six weeks straightand doing their touchups not
taking breaks.
They are.
That's when pretty much youstart to hear, Ugh, I need to
take a break because I feel likeI'm losing my lashes.
You're not losing your lashes.
You're actually just goingthrough a 30 to 60 day shedding
cycle.
And that's where people thinkthey actually losing their

(23:35):
lashes.
Oh, my

francene (23:38):
gosh.
I did not know that at all.
No one has ever been able toexplain, um, that to me, that's,
that's really helpful.
So if, um, so say if I went andgot, um, you know, lash
extensions tomorrow, Is like, doyou think there should be a
natural break or like some of mygirlfriends they've had last

(24:01):
extensions for years withouttaking, you know, them out.
Mm-hmm um, do you think thereshould be a natural?
Okay.
After like six months, like takelike a month break or have that

christina (24:12):
consistency there's there's an alternative.
There's a lash.
Alternative where you alwaysshould take a, you know, you
should take a break because Ithink not everybody properly
cleans them.
They're to be cleaned every daywith lash shampoo.
Um, it's a specific shampoo forlashes.
Sure.

(24:33):
No one does that.

francene (24:34):
Or majority people don't

christina (24:36):
majority of them, don't they tell you that they
lay there and they tell you thatthey do.
But what happens is they cannot.
See what I see from a differentangle.
Yeah.
And they don't see that, youknow, where they may be cleaning
their face in the front, butthey don't know that they're not
actually cleaning in between thelashes.
Yeah.
Um, so that's when, you know, when they do come in for their

(24:59):
touchups, that's when it could, they could be probably costing
them more to fill them morebecause we would have to clean
the old ones out or the onesthat are affected by possibly
even eyeliner that they don'tclean.
They say they do

francene (25:13):
oh God.
I can only imagine the amount ofpeople that go to sleep with
their makeup on from the nightbefore.
Yeah.
Um, but so you mentioned thelash lift.
Now.
I feel like we don't speak aboutthis enough.
I got this done for my weddingbecause I was scared of getting
lash extensions.

(25:34):
I cannot express how much of adifference it made.
Yeah.
And especially with the tint, itwas crazy.
And it lasted, I mean, ittypically lasts like what, six
to eight weeks.
Yes, it was great, amazingservice.

christina (25:48):
Yes.
So a lash lift is, um, It'ssimilar to a perm, cuz it does
smell like perm.
Yeah.
Um, but it's a lot gentler andit's made for, you know, gentle
for the eyes.
It is lifting your own lashesand anyone can do this.
You can have long lashes, medium, even short lashes.
I've seen amazing results withshort lashes.

(26:10):
Um, and it's just giving you alift.
And when we look at each other, you know, we.
See if we don't have mascara on,we don't see our lashes, but
when you do this lift, sometimesyou can even walk up the house
without mascara.

francene (26:22):
Yes.
I honestly, I didn't wearmascara and I've been, so God,
this is so bad.
I've been married for like overeight years.
And I've been talking aboutdoing this again.
For over eight years cause itwas so good and I really need to
book in, but yeah, I remember,um, like the whole time I was on
honeymoon and then for weeksafter I didn't wear mascara.

(26:45):
Yeah.
And it was so great.
Cause you, you couldn't tell, cause my lashes were so dark and
um, yeah.
Perfect shape.
So it's definitely, um, highlyrecommend.
Oh, a hundred percent.
And again, I feel like it's oneof those services that we talk
so much.
Extensions and tinting, but wenever talk about, okay.

(27:08):
You can actually like, um, permyour lash.
Yes,

christina (27:12):
yes.

francene (27:13):
Yeah.
Genius.
Um, so what about hair?
Do you have any.
Um, tips on hair care that youlive by or products that you
swear by.

christina (27:28):
I'm not an expert in hair cause it's really not my
field, but for me, um, probablynot.
What I do know you shouldn't bedoing, it's constantly not
blowing out your hair andironing your hair.
Yeah.
So that's kinda like, I'm not anexpert with hair, so I don't
know all hair textures.

(27:49):
I actually been learning becausemy daughter has completely
different hair than I do.
Very curly coilly curly hair.
Yeah.
So what.
Learning is how to deal withcurly hair, keeping it
moisturized, keeping it calm, tango free, trying different
products, that condition thehair.
And I never realized howimportant it was to keep hair

(28:11):
moisturized.
I never went through it with myown hair.
So going, treating someone withcurly curly hair has really
changed my life.
oh yeah.

francene (28:20):
I bet.
Especially if you're not used toit.
Um, I just purchased, um, and Icannot remember the name of the
company.
But Jennifer Anderson justreleased her, um, like hair
care.
And of course, because asJennifer Anderson, I'm that
person that's like, I'm gonnabuy it immediately.
Hoping my hair will be likehers.

(28:40):
Um, but it so far, I haven'tactually used it, but it smells
delicious.
So I'm like, okay, this might dosomething, but I'm forever
trying to find product.
That work.
And again, living in Texas, Ifeel like my hair gets so dry in
the summer that I spend thewhole time just keeping it up.
And then on the days that it'snice.

(29:02):
I, I just can't control it.
It's normally in like a frizzymass.
Um, yeah, I feel like we're,we're all in the journey to try
and find the

christina (29:11):
magic product.
Yeah.
So what I do actually do knowof, and I do have is, um,
treating hair loss.
So I do have like der rollersthat are actually like, uh,
another word for der rollermicroneedling treatment.
Yeah.
And so if you've heard of it forthe face, it actually also works

(29:31):
for hair loss and treating, um,Your hair loss, parts of your,
maybe the sides of your head,um, wherever your thinning hair,
you can actually stimulate hairgrowth with Derma rollers.
No way.

francene (29:46):
Oh my gosh.
I did not know that.
Um, like, would you recommenddoing it yourself at home

christina (29:55):
or go, so a der roller is something you can
purchase.
Yeah.
Um, actually do it at home everynight, depending on the size.
Cuz they do come in suchdifferent sizes.
There is one particular sizethat is made for hair loss.
Oh,

francene (30:10):
God, that's a great tip.
I feel like myself and the, um,majority of my girlfriends that
have had kids, especially aroundthe front.
Yes.

christina (30:22):
So

francene (30:22):
much.
And it's kinda in this, I mean, gosh, my daughter's gonna be
four and I feel like I'm inthis, in between like baby hair,
but I.
Are you growing or are we juststuck in this random place?
Um, no, that's a, that's a greattip.
Um, have you had micro, um,needling, like on your

christina (30:44):
face?
So I've actually, um, beenconsistent with it probably last
week.
Um, I really kind of focused onmy skincare last week where I
did it every other night.
And what, what.
Long microneedling or using yourDermer roller is actually you

(31:04):
start to see results long afterthe treatment, like days after.
Yeah.
So I started to notice probablythis week on, in a, in the
beginning of this week, more ofwhat the treatment that I was
doing last week, um, actuallydid for my face.
So I noticed that my dark, youknow, scarring of maybe like old
acne scarring has went down.
Um, yeah.

(31:25):
And I noticed a little bit ofdifference.
So once you be, once you areconsistent with it, you will be
more, you'll see the results alot more.

francene (31:34):
It's so true.
Isn't it?
Like consistency is a key foreverything.
Yeah.
Whereas I feel like so many ofus, like, we'll do a face mask
like once a month and then belike, why is my skin not better?
Or like you use.
I, I dunno, like you use acertain product and you're like,
why didn't that work?

(31:54):
Why are my dark circles notgone?
It's like, cause you used itonce.
yeah.
Like none of this is likemiracle.
Um, it's consistency.
So, um, going back to theproducts that, um, you've put
together and that you sell withMadeline beauty, um, how, how

(32:16):
have you come up with differentideas for the products?
Is it more on, this is what youtypically use.
Um, do you have ideas for moreproducts in the future?

christina (32:29):
Yeah, so, um, I actually do use all my products.
I know it sounds.
Um, strange, but I do test outmy products before I sell them
for at least a month.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, I do also, um, what, Ipretty much look at products
now, if I see something I like,I, you know what I'm, so that's

(32:54):
kinda like my model lately.
Um, I started a new, um, so Ihave makeup.
I have, uh, lip losses.
Mm-hmm I.
Um, and I have, you know, creammat, um, I have lip liners and I
do take a long time to decide,to pick a vendor, to pick
someone.
Um, I, I do a lot ofinvestigating.

(33:18):
I do a lot of even just to get asample.
I do a lot of want that sampleto be the one Yeah.
So I look into, you know, howlong it lasts and I do test it
out myself.
I do give it.
Sometimes to friends and familyand say, Hey, listen, test this
out for me.
Tell me your opinion.
Um, I have from lip BALs thathave CBD in it, I have, um, the

(33:43):
rose water spray.
I have the cleansers.
Um, I also have teeth whiteningpens, um, just kind of with my,
you know, dentistry background.
I also have, so I have eyebrowpencils and I have a really good
tweezer set tweezer kit.
That's all the team.
Um, yeah.

(34:04):
So the tweezer kit I've beenit's, it's been turned into a
universal, um, tweezer that alot of women who work with wigs
and making wigs have been usingthe tweezer, um, kit and they
actually love it.
So I am now creating, um, aunivers.
Course a part of that andaddressing it and kind of just

(34:25):
focusing on to, with women whodo, do wigs for a living or to
like, to actually make their ownwigs at home, the tweezer, um,
it works really well and thegirls, they love it.
God.
That's so cool.

francene (34:40):
That's awesome.
And especially when you can getfeedback or you can see how
people are using the products,um, or tools, and you're like,
great.
That's exactly why or, okay,great.
How can I improve on this?
Um, so you mentioned lip liners.
I feel are also kinda making abit more of a comeback over the

(35:04):
last kinda six months comparedto certainly, um, since I've
been doing my makeup, um, as ateenager, like we would
overline.
So being from the UK.
And I, I dunno if this isglobal, but we would overline in
like the darkest shade and thenwe would have the newest lips.
It was a horrifically bad look.

(35:26):
Um, so I always imagine lipliner like that, and I always
had a kind of negativeconnotation, whereas now I feel
like I always use lip liner now.
And I feel like there's so muchbenefit in, you know, kind of
lining your.
What that does.
So can you explain more fromlike a technique standpoint on
why yeah.

(35:47):
People should be using it?

christina (35:48):
So lip liner is now used to blend, so it's pretty
much used as a, um, so you don'tdraw out of your line.
So when you do put on your mayour lipstick, you're not going
outside.
So it's really used as asecurity.
Now it's really not used to makea huge statement.
Yeah.
But it's more.
The colors that you're wearing.
I think a nice nude color of lipliner will actually go with any

(36:13):
color of lipstick because it'snot meant the lip liner is not
meant to make a statement.
It's more for you to blend itinto your, to your lipstick.
Yeah.
You see, oh, go for.
No, I'm sorry.
So a lip liner can actually alsobe used as a lipstick and it
lasts a lot longer.
Yes,

francene (36:32):
I have done this.
Um, I got, oh my God.
What is the name of, um,Charlotte talk.
So I have the lip liner and Ialso have the lipstick and
sometimes I will just use theliner and you're right.
Like the, I feel like it stayslonger.
I feel like sometimes the shadeis, is a little bit like deeper.

(36:54):
Um, have you also, I've seenthis technique where the use the
liner to kind of contour thelip.
Have

christina (37:03):
you seen that?
Yes.
Yes.
So they actually choose like adifferent color for the inside.
Yeah.
And.
Like, OBRA what they call theOBRA look.
Yeah.
OBRA lips.
Yes.
It's, it's a thing.
so OBRA brows, OBRA lips.
Um, and it could be useddifferent ways.
So sometimes you can start, youcan use a lighter lip liner,

(37:25):
blend it into a different colorof the lipstick or use it.
The.
Yeah,

francene (37:30):
that, that's what I've seen.
I was watching someone onInstagram.
I feel like that's how I learnso much of these trends.
And I'm like, oh, I did not knowyou could do that.
I feel like I've only, I haven'teven mastered contouring.
And now I feel like it's kind ofbeing phased out a little bit
and I'm like, thank God, cuz Iwas not very good at it.
My face just looked dirty.

(37:51):
um, So what we normally do.
Um, and I'm, I'm conscious oftime cuz I could talk all day
about these subjects.
Um, but what I normally do is Ikind of quick fire rounds, so
whatever pops into your head, tell me the answer.
Um, so what is your favoritecocktail?

christina (38:12):
Um, I only drink one amaretto sour.

francene (38:15):
Oh, that's a great cocktail though.
Good for you.
um, I thought you were gonnasay, I dunno, like a boring one.
I was like, no, that's a goodone.
Like, you sounded love negativegoing into that.
Um, cinema or home, maybe homemovies.
I hear you.
Um, what is your most usedemoji?

christina (38:38):
Oh, the twisted face one.
Yeah.
He's it for everything.

francene (38:45):
um, if you were a sex and city character, who would
you be?
Oh, what

christina (38:50):
character?
Sex and sitting.
Oh, everybody calls meCharlotte.
Oh, I

francene (38:56):
love that.
I'm Charlotte too.
Oh, I really wanna be CarrieBradshaw and then I want a hint
of Samantha, but I'm CharlotteYeah.
Um, if you could pick only twoskincare products, what

christina (39:11):
would they be?
Um, moisturizer for sure.
Um, and definitely a spray.

francene (39:19):
Yes, the RIR right.
Probably the ROS Um, and if youcould pick two makeup products,
what would they be?

christina (39:28):
Concealer and lips.
Yeah.
Concealer is like a mass for me,concealer and all.

francene (39:34):
Yes.
Yes.
And I, so is this your lip color

christina (39:37):
by the way?
This is my lip color.
Yeah.
This is from my, um, lip, uh,matte lip line lip, sorry, matte
lip line.
Um, yeah, so they're creamy.
It's like a creamy, oh, it'svery color.
What's the common called?
Um, it's right now it's just an.

(39:59):
Just the number, um, it's 25from the matte line.
So I'm kind of like working onnames, so, oh, it's a great
five.
I'll remember it.
Yes.
Some of them have names.
Some of them don't yet, but ifthey don't have name, they have
a

francene (40:14):
number I love it.
Well, honestly, that color it'sit's beautiful.
Um, if you could be anyone forthe day, who would it be?

christina (40:25):
Um, I don't know.
That's a tough question.
Um, probably maybe a millionaire

francene (40:36):
I would definitely, I would be Kim Kardashian and I
would just do whatever I wanted.
Plus I would just walk into mycloset and be like, this is mine
and I would try and steal itall.
I really do like her.
Oh, me too.
I'm obsessed.
I can't even pretend to like, bitch about her cuz it's all

(40:57):
just coming from jealousy.
I love her I really do.
Um, my husband would cringe.
He overheard me say that.
Um, yeah, people do.
Yeah, they do.
But honestly, like I feel like,um, if you'd asked me.
Even just a couple of years ago,I feel like I wouldn't have been
as positive, but what she's donefor the skims collection is

(41:22):
genius.
Like genius.
And I always say to people cuzthey're like, I know, but it's
like spanks and I'm like, it'snot, it's not like spanks and
it's I, I mean, honestly I haveso many of the body suits.
I have so many of like.
The brass, the underwear.
And I just think it's such agreat quality genius items that

(41:43):
no one else has bought.
And I wish they would give hercredit for it.
Yeah.
That's my twos Kardashian.
I honestly love what is yourlife motto or that you live by?

christina (41:59):
Um, never give up, just keep going, you know,
follow your dreams because I ama perfect example of not giving
up and following what I reallywanted to do.
Um, even when.
I thought that I had to give upon my dreams.
Um, it wasn't easy, you know, jumping into, um, a business,

(42:22):
um, just pretty much the waythat it happened.
Um, and I wouldn't rec everrecommend when you start a
business to kind of just jumpin, it just kind of ease your
way in it, because it does taketime to build.
But, you know, even when Ipretty much didn't have much
and.

(42:43):
Didn't know how a bill was gonnaget paid.
I just kept hope alive and Ijust kept pushing.
And this is why, you know, thebusiness fi you know, made it
through.

francene (42:52):
Yeah.
And I think, um, you know, maybeyou will agree.
Um, but sometimes having thatpressure or the moment of I'm
gonna do this, and I don't havesomething to kind of fall back
on, like I will make this workalso that driver cause to me, I

(43:13):
would need to quit my job.
I would need to literally let goof everything to be like, I'm
committed.
Because if not, that would be mysafety net,

christina (43:21):
you know, but you don't have to like, you know,
starting a business, youshouldn't do it that way.
You should, you can take off,you can stop, you know, working
a set of six days a week.
You work four days.
Focus the other three days onyour business.
And that's usually what I tellmy girls when they come in for
the training, I let them knowsome of them, you know, they

(43:42):
don't really know how to startor they're they don't, they kind
of, some of them take the classand never start because they
don't have time because theyneed the income of working full
time.
Yeah.

francene (43:53):
Yeah.
That's hard.
I can't even imagine how manypeople are out there wanting to
do their passions, but they'renot in a position to do so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I guess that's why it's sogood that you offer this type of
training to help people kindaget to that position.
But also part of the training isthe advice that you give.

christina (44:15):
Yes.
And business, a lot of business,my past, you know, from what I'm
learning as I go and.
That's awesome.
Well,

francene (44:26):

very much for

christina (45:07):
that.
