world building unforgettable
villains and everything thatmakes these genres legendary.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
So let's jump into
the realm.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hey man, welcome back
.
We've got another week going.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hey brother, this is
almost like a weekly thing.
It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, we're three
episodes in and I just want to
say to everybody that's actuallystuck with us for all three
episodes.
Thank you for putting up withour audio and sometimes video
issue issues.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
We really appreciate
it yeah, I mean we're learning
and growing like my background.
I'm gonna make it cooleventually, but you know money
right, it takes time no, exactly, instead of.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
You know, if we
waited, uh what does it say?
Um, like, I read an article andit was like, if you wait to
start your podcast because youneed gear or stuff, uh, you're
never gonna start it.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
So just do it and buy
the gear as you go you know,
it's almost like they say aboutum, you know, don't wait to
start your book, your novel,right?
You, you, you, you you okay, yeah, subtle, real, real subtle
yeah, I tried that's all right,I'll write something eventually
(01:29):
you will, by the end of thispodcast series.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
One day you will be
in chapter one I'm gonna
dedicate the book to you andit's gonna say to jordan here's
your book, asshole you wouldn'tstop bringing it up every single
week and weaving it into everyconversation in some weird way.
Yeah, that's okay that's allright if that's what you're
saying I'm here for it.
I am all here for you nah, Iappreciate it, man, and uh, you
(01:54):
know the the pressure is good.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I I do well most of
most of the time under pressure
yeah most viking, most vikingmen, blue, so you'll be all
right love it all right.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Do we want to jump
into realm rumors?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
yeah, yeah.
So I've been looking at whatyou sent here and before we even
started off, and I should knowthis, but I just I've heard it
different ways.
Is it isekai, isekai, isekai?
How do you say the damn word?
What's the general consensus?
here, I think in the us, thegeneral consensus is okay, well,
(02:29):
we're good with that I'm surewe're probably butchering that
and then probably true, but youknow, either way, we are
obviously exploding inpopularity here based on this
article.
Kind of talking about what isit 15 of 2024, the anime?
Where were these types of uh,fun little stories here?
Speaker 1 (02:48):
right.
So the the title of the article.
You know the state of isekai2025, um, which is interesting
enough because everybody knowsisekai is popular, but the thing
I found, or one of the things Ifound, the most interesting
here was that obviously you knowthe 15%, that it's the total,
(03:11):
like 15% of the entirety of newanime that are produced, as
popular it is inEnglish-speaking countries.
In Japan, their top 10 listthat they just released recently
, isekai isn't on any of theshows on the top 10 list.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So that is a very
interesting little stat because
it kind of shows in a way, we'reknow japan's making anime for
only japanese people.
Now they're kind ofacknowledging, I guess how weird
.
Why did it become?
Because it that's a very starkdifferent stat from top.
I mean, looking at the yeah, english speaking actions 15.1
and this is 15.
I mean it's literally the same.
It's even beating fantasy atthe 13.4, which is just insane.
And then, like you said, on theother chart, it's not even in,
(04:09):
like what.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
That's crazy so
another thing that I was.
It's mildly interesting, butmore entertaining.
Um, they actually rank theiranime when they produce them,
and they rank them the same waylike adventurers or monsters get
ranked, so there's like a and sclass and that's cool.
(04:31):
I like that.
It's actually mentioned in thisarticle that you know, isekai
rarely makes it to s class, butthey're the.
It's the biggest, it's thebiggest contender and it's the
biggest percentage of shows made, because they are almost all
solid a-classes interesting.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, I mean, hey,
just like uh, man, it dovetails
perfectly with our, with ourepisode today, doesn't it?
With this class?
And I am, yeah, man, this is,uh, this is super interesting,
although they are the onlyproblem, like, some of them are
amazing and then some of themare just phone doing, feeling,
you know, so it's.
It's interesting to see theones that really kind of hit a
(05:11):
home, run out the gate and justexplode in popularity.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I mean, there's, you
know, a dime, a dozen of them
that don't really go way, butone season, it doesn't really
matter, you know right, yeah, exactly, I mean, you know they
make um again it 15% of themarket share for anime every
year, or recently, or at leastthis year.
So that's at least 10 shows andthat's just dirty math I'm
(05:37):
doing on my head that's at least10 shows that are guaranteed to
be isekai, to be isekai, andagain, that's not.
Again, you know, they're sayingthey're, they're fully
admitting we don't expect any ofthese to be you know s tier
shows, but they should all besolid a tier shows and we need
to.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
We need to rank
everything over here like that,
like s tier a class, like weneed to start doing that.
Dude, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Right.
So another thing I found prettyentertaining in here and this
is also entertaining, slashinteresting they built a profile
it's just a demographic profileof, like the, you know, the
what am I trying to say?
The average, the average isekaiviewer Okay, viewer, okay.
(06:30):
And one of the things thatreally stuck out is isekai
viewers are where is that stat?
Oh my gosh, 48 more hours ofanime watched each week and more
likely to read light novels.
And I'm like wow, that tracksbecause I will watch an isekai.
That's like a, you know, that'skind of like I I don't
necessarily, I probably do watchthem all, at least a few
(06:51):
episodes of every single one,and sometimes I just put it on
for background noise while I'mworking how about the average
age, bro, 29.2 yay, I mean that, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
And then the uh, the
I think the weirdest stat in
this, where I was too.
Really there's one really coolstat average year as an anime
fan 15 and a half years prettycool.
Um, but watch most likely towatch anime on xbox super random
that one actually weirded me alot out of yeah, because I'm
(07:24):
like people still watch stuff onXbox.
And then the funniest one Ifind is less likely to be a
pirate anime.
Yeah, I think that is braindead, rude, I don't get it, it's
(07:44):
tough.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
You're also 36% more
likely to be Canadian,
apparently.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Well, okay, we missed
the mark on that one, I guess.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I guess I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, so it's a
little off, but the light novel
thing kind of tracked justbecause I will watch Nisekai and
I do read a lot of light novelsfact, yeah, you were, uh, and
it's kind of funny because thatyou know you've read so many of
them and I usually am the bigmanwa reader, slash anime
watcher.
I know you watch anime too, soit's kind of perfect for today
(08:18):
with sir leveling.
I mean, I know you read all Idid not read the night.
Let me be very clear.
I did not read the light novels, I read the manwa and I watched
the anime.
I think you've done all threeor two, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I don't remember.
No, I've.
I've not all three, I've.
Obviously I've watched theanime.
I've read all eight of the mainnovels, volumes one through
eight.
Volume eight ends with kind ofI don't know if it's the end of
Jean.
Well, I guess we should sayspoiler alert we're spending all
(08:52):
day of the year right, right, Iguess they introduce uh jimu's
son at the end of volume eightokay.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
So let me just ask,
because I'm not familiar is
there light novels of I guessit's titled rag, you know so
loving ragnarok about the sun?
Are there light novels of himor no?
I think they're planning to beproduced, but interesting okay,
because the mod was out like itcomes out every week.
It's it's great, yeah, it's,it's very, very fun, for sure
(09:23):
it's it's great.
So I will say you know, obviously we love anime and I
think we both can agree that thestudio, the anim, animated this
a1.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Just pictures killed
us like it's so good, yeah, a1,
a1 pictures nailed this, um, Imean from beginning to end, like
there's not the.
The animation is wild.
It's some of the most beautifulanimation I've seen.
Um, you know, the gradual shiftin colors, like the color
(09:53):
palettes they use.
And you know, we're just we'rejust talking about some of the
simpler stuff here because noteverybody even notices that.
So if you, if you look at, likethe color palettes they use
early on in the pre temple, youknow, in the first episode, the
pre temple, it is very warmcolor palette.
And then again after Jinwoowakes up in the hospital, it's a
very warm color palette.
And then again after jinwuwakes up in the hospital, it's a
(10:16):
very warm color palette.
But as he starts to level upthat color palette there that
you know, the overall colorpalette for the show starts to
go a little bit more cooler, um,and a lot more like to match
the icier tone that they use forhis eyes when he's, you know,
utilizing those powers and youknow, the darker, the dark,
because it just gets darker anddarker.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Content wise,
brutality wise, and it seems to
to match that.
Uh, pretty perfect.
I mean, obviously the monro'sgoing to be drawn better because
it's not moving.
But I have never seen um, youknow, sort of reveling.
You know it's a great story andstuff, but it really blew up as
far as the, the mama scenes, like it's.
I mean, there's others too, butI would say this one's probably,
(10:58):
if not said the best drawn one, absolutely the best fluid and
action one to the point where, like it, really it's an
important monro for not justbeing a great story in the
animation, in the, in the, wherethe drawings are amazing, it's
really like the thing that blewup monra, as far as as I know,
(11:18):
worldwide, because you knowthey're releasing weekly
chapters that are 50 to 100panels long, that it's gripping
and it's literally like readingan anime.
I mean it's so fluid, the actionin it, the way they they flip
it over and there's horizontalpanels and vertical and then all
(11:39):
these different styles to showmovement.
It's very, um, it's, it'sdefinitely inspiring and I think
it being so successful in ananime is gonna just kick the
door open to many monwa beingbeing animated.
I know there's a few out there.
Got a high school, they rushedit, which is not good.
Uh, tower god, it's on thesecond season.
(12:01):
But they changed the studio artstudio.
So you know it's losing fansnow, but so leveling it looks
like they're just going to keepthe same studio and just tell
the whole story, which is fine, you know.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Kill it, let it out,
make it huge and let's get more
of these things animated I meanI agree, but I am gonna have to
go check out the the manhwa forthat, because I again, I read
the light novels.
That was where you know Igravitate towards and it's
nothing against you know, webcomics or man, was I just that
(12:34):
my preferred, my preferredconsumption method?
There would would be the lightnovel, but but no, I agree,
let's, let's.
Let's make them all, let's makethem all into anime.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
I want to see I mean
do them because in, you know,
manga is very impressive, obviously, weekly chapters, 20
to 25 pages, you know, butseeing which I don't even
understand how, the full color, full color every week, it's
crazy, I don't know how they'redoing it.
To be honest, and in in this, Imean this, this series
(13:06):
specifically, the art isstunning, the action stunning,
the, the magic powers that theyand the way they animate them
and draw them, awesome.
You know, it's just, it really,um, it's a home run and I think
it's very important that itgets the attention and desertion
.
I think.
I think it is obviously withthe anime, I mean it's very, I'm
sure it's the number one animeby now.
It's got to be like, it's likecoming out right now, you know
(13:27):
this, this season, or whatever.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Yeah, I mean it's got
to be, but you know this this
season or whatever.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah, I mean, I agree
it's gotta be, but you know the
reverse acting, you knowthey'll change the voice actor
and it goes from high pitch tolike this deep I'm going to
fucking kill everyone.
You know, vibe, it's, it's,it's great man.
I mean they nailed that, thatwhole thing.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
So the voice actor
for me it's not the same voice
actor, but the voice acting.
You know it goes from kind ofbright and bubbly a guy that's
uh, you know, optimistic aboutthe future like a shonen
character.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Right, yeah, right
too.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
It's absolutely um.
I mean by the by the secondseason, like episode two or
three.
He straight sounds like goblinslayer.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
I'm sorry, it's the
same sound it sounds just like
the guy, like I don't even Idon't think it is, but it's very
close, but I think it.
It leads into like goblin.
It sounds just like the guy,like I don't even I don't think
it is, but it's very close, butI think it leads into like
Goblin.
Slayer is just like living hislife, doing his mission, quote
unquote and it doesn't matter.
The side stuff doesn't matter, and that's kind of how it looks
like for him.
You know he got hit right nowin the story.
He's trying to save the mom.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
He's got to do all
this stuff and he's leveling up
and getting stronger and that'sall he cares about.
So he's just very like, youknow, serious bad chance now.
I mean, overall, I've beenpretty happy with the way they
handled most of the the storyarcs um, the temple arc, you
know the which, you know thevery beginning of the story.
I feel like they did very wellin expressing you know the words
that were put into the pages asfar as the despair and the
terror that Jinwoo was feelingin the temple, and they did a
(15:02):
good job animating those scenesand the voice acting was amazing
.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
The voice acting dude
you could hear.
I don't know if it was theEnglish or the Japanese voice
actor, but I read a story thatwhat either one of them in that
scene where he's just screamingand losing it and stuff, that
the guy like lost his voice fromthat scene.
So I'm not surprised, becauseyou could feel the amount of
terror, the like you know yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
So I will say, though
uh and this is not shade on the
anime, because most of the timethey have a reason for making
some of these changes but thisis this is there's a couple that
irk me a little bit and there'ssome minor character stuff that
just irks me.
So the president of the uh, thehunters association, the
(15:46):
president, gun he go beast mode.
I love that guy right, he's an srank like that, that's
guaranteed.
But in the light novel he cameinto his power later in life.
He was already an older man andhe never actually fought in the
gates, he never actually hunted.
So how does that match up withthe with the manhwa?
(16:08):
Uh, is that the same in themanhwa?
Speaker 2 (16:11):
oh man, I don't
really remember.
Man, I don't remember thatexact scene, but I don't really.
I'm trying to think, yeah, because the way, the anime at
least, definitely made it seemlike he missed hunting and
wishes he could do it.
You know, I don't, I don'tremember the model, I don't
remember, that's it.
So I've read it too long ago,but I remember being like okay,
you know, it didn't make sensethat he hunted some.
(16:32):
He had to have gone in thegates, right?
I mean, how many years have thegates been around now?
Speaker 1 (16:38):
10 years.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
So how old is he?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
He's 80.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
So he would have been
70 when it popped off.
Yeah, but I feel like itwouldn't make sense that he
would never have gone in thegates.
Is that just something in thein the light?
No, it doesn't make sense.
He wouldn't go in.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
That's just something
they've added in the anime, and
he said a few times he's likeyou know, I wish I were still
young enough to fight.
I miss fighting and I'm likeyou never fought in the light
novel.
And there's a reason why I'm sonitpicky about this in
particular, and I nitpicky aboutthis in particular.
Um, and I'll try to keep thispart spoiler free, because it
hasn't even really been beenintroduced into the the to the
anime yet.
There is a reason it bugs mebecause a character change like
(17:22):
that for that specific charactercan affect some things that
happen with that character later, and that's what.
That's what irritates me alittle bit.
Um, I'm a little bit nervous tosee where they're going with
that, because if they want tostay original delight novel, I
feel like that starts to changesomething and I don't know how
(17:44):
it'll affect a specificstoryline, and so that makes me
a little bit nervous and youknow it's funny.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
I'm trying to think
it's been so.
I mean, you know you're it'sfunny, I'm trying to think.
I mean, you're reading it everyweek.
I don't even know how manychapters.
There's a lot of them.
And I'm trying to think becauseit seems to be adapting the
model pretty good.
I'm assuming they're adaptingthat more than the light novel.
I don't know if there's manydifferences, though I'm sure
there'd be some right.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Between the two.
I mean there's got to be,because you know there are going
to be certain things that theyjust can't animate, or, um, they
need to.
They need to change it pacingwise, like cut some, cut some
text.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Well, that just
happened right with the dad.
Didn't they switch, didn't theymove that around, or something?
You're telling me that, right?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
yeah, that's changed
up a little bit too, but again,
that doesn't so.
Now that they've fixed it andthe where his dad showed up and
in America, then he finally cameout of a gate.
Um, now that they've fixed thatI'm not so irritated with it
anymore.
And I kind of understand whatthey did.
You know they they brought DongSoo Hwang back to Korea just as
(18:51):
a yeah, a little bit.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Yeah, yeah,
cliffhanger a little bit.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
that was that, yeah,
cliffhanger yeah yeah, a little
bit of a cliffhanger.
And so he went back to americaand then met jinwoo's dad.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
But you know, again
in the light, not that ever
actually happened he got righthe got rocked, he absolutely got
floored yeah, which is greatbecause you, you want to see the
, the power of his dad, you know, in a way like that.
So I, you know, I have a littlebit of things too, like gripes
I guess, but I don't know, Idon't know if they would say
they're gripes.
I hope they they kind of hintedat it in one of the episodes
(19:24):
that kind of showed one of thelighter parts.
Um, you know there's a lot of.
Even though jim was so seriousand know he'll kill people and
stuff whatever, he kind of playsaround a little bit with his
shadows, right, like they havelike a playful friend
relationship which maybe they'rebuilding more towards that.
I remember there being moremoments where there was like
(19:46):
silly little moments with theshadows in him, which was really
good because it kind of showedthey have personality, you know.
So they kind of hinted at itwhen iron was just slamming the
body a million times with thehammer, yeah, and he's like holy
man, stop.
But like there's more momentsthan that.
So I hope that they keep thoseand I hope they keep some of the
(20:08):
side story stuff in it.
I I read on a comment somewherethat people are saying I don't
know if it's real.
But I saw people saying they'reactually just focusing more on
him and gonna not really do someof the side character stories.
I really hope that's not true, because you need to be able to
see the full cast, it's not justhis story.
I hope they don't do that.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
So how did you feel
about the demon tower?
And I'm asking specificallybecause you mentioned some of
the way that they're notportraying his behavior with his
shadow warriors how did youfeel?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
about that.
So I mean I don't.
I'm trying to remember ifanything of note happened on the
first 75 floors in the manhwa.
I mean I remember the ending ofthe whole castle arc, which was
awesome, but I don't.
I feel like I feel like there'ssomething missing, like I feel
like they just rush rightthrough those 75 floors super
(21:06):
fast, which they may have in themanhwa, but I remember it being
longer.
So I don't know.
I mean I don't know if there'sjumping stuff just to kind of
like I don't know.
But so, like the guy to highschool anime, which the model is
really fun, it's cool.
It's the action is awesome init too, um, and the mythology of
the character it's really fun.
It's a good story.
They jumped so fast to thatthat they ruined it.
(21:28):
So I'm I don't know really whythey did that, but I hope
they're not.
I don't think they're doing itthrough this one's super, ultra
fast, but it does seem to bemoving pretty quickly.
Like you know, you could getsome seasons out of this.
I hope it's not over in likefour seasons or something you
know.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Yeah, I would like to
see.
I would like to see you know.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
I don't know, 10
seasons, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Something like that.
I could probably realisticallydo six easily with just the
current story content.
Other you know, minor irks forme was they?
He didn't.
They didn't show any any of hisum collaboration with his, with
(22:19):
the shadow warriors, because inthe demon's castle that's where
he starts to.
You know coordinate and learnhow to do battle and send them
out in the squads.
You know to level the floorsyeah, he, only he.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
They really quickly
hinted, like he said, like a
throw over the line, like go dothis or something.
But it's not really shown likein the anime.
It looks like, yeah, they werefighting with him, but it was
more him clearing out the floorson his own right, yeah, it
looked.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
It looked like they
were.
They were fighting with him,but in the light novel
specifically, he got tired.
I mean not tired, but he waslike this, is you know?
It's pretty much in this killerlevel ones, yeah, yeah you guys
up in the groups of 20 andeverybody go destroy shit yeah,
kill everybody and let's go.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yeah, it did.
It didn't really tell you thatin the show.
It felt like it was like hey, let's just do this quickly.
But like you're right, hedefinitely it's.
He definitely gets tactical ina way.
I guess he did it too when hewas fighting the Frost Elf guy.
They were all hyping him tofight.
But I think that it's theirteam is kind of how.
(23:24):
I hope that they keep that.
I mean, I don't know, it's notjust him.
I mean he's a badass, but it'snot just him yet Well, I think
what I would say there is.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
You know, when they
were fighting um barca, like you
said, that in the ice elves, yes, they operate as a team and
there was a little bit ofcollaboration there, but that's,
that's just in the moment.
Fight tactics, that's notoverwhelming.
You know, I'm organizing anarmy and deploying an army to
conquer like a general.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Yeah, he's not there
yet.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Yeah, yeah, for sure
and but that's part of what the
shadow monarch is, and that'sthat's why I found that a little
bit, you know, slightlyirritating, because that's
you're you're taking away kindof a key part of what his
character is supposed to yeah,it's not just him killing
everyone, it's like you know, heliterally is like an endless
army that never stops.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
You know, and I hope
that they're gonna I don't know
kind of show.
I mean, I'm sure that well, Imean, the last episode was
really good and even thoughthere wasn't a lot of action
whatever, but it did a great joblike introducing the characters
and, um, you know it, I thinkit's great.
I just hope they don't getahead of themselves.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
You know, I get
worried about that stuff yeah,
no, I, I absolutely am inagreement with you and a hundred
percent.
Again, this isn't throwingshade at the the studio a1
pictures.
This isn't throwing shadebecause they could fix all of
these things and they couldintroduce them slightly
different places in thestoryline, to still tell these
stories and, you know, geteverything right about jinwu and
(24:53):
his shadow warriors, and theentire thing could go off
without a hitch.
These are current gripes.
This, this shit, could all befixed later on down the road.
I don't know yeah, and for sureand honestly, even if they don't
fix it, it's not like I'm gonnastop watching the show.
These aren't big enough gripeswhere I'm gonna be like I hate
this show.
Now I'm done.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, exactly.
What do you think about?
It seems to be where it's goingto end for the season.
What do you think about that?
Speaker 1 (25:23):
I am a little
concerned.
I'm a little concerned with thepacing and how often they're
talking about Jeju Island andhow often they show the stuff
about Jeju Island.
So season one ended at theclass change quest, which was
technically the first half ofvolume two for the light novels.
(25:45):
So, pacing wise, if you followthat same pacing schedule, it
would make the most sense forseason two to end with, you know
, demon tower part two going upto floor a hundred.
Um, that, that would make themost sense.
Pacing wise, for what theycovered in season one, and I'm
(26:05):
just talking strictly the amountof, you know the, the amount of
material you covered in volumeone for season one, the amount
of material you covered inVolume 1 for Season 1, if you
covered that same amount ofmaterial, you'd be at the Demon
Tower, the end of the DemonTower.
That would be the logicalendpoint really.
But if they're skipping forwardto Jeju Island, if that's where
(26:34):
they're really pushing this, they're kind of cutting out a
whole lot of content.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
So I have a question
about this because I want to
make sure, because it's been toomany years In the story.
Is it the Demon Castle finishfirst, then Jeju Island, or
which way does it go?
Or is it opposite?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
It's, the Demon
Castle finishes first, a bunch
of other stuff happens and thenJeju Island.
So, realistically, like if wewere going to go pacing just
according to the light novel andwhat they did with season one,
demon Tower, part two would bethe end of season two and Jeju
Island would be mid season threeand probably like the last four
(27:11):
episodes of season three.
But as much as they're bringingit up and pushing that story
forward, I don't think they canafford to make it wait another
year, unless again they couldfix this.
I didn't look to see what theirepisode count was going to be
for this season.
Did they all of a sudden jumpit up to 24 episodes?
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Because if they did
that, then you had now I don't
know, I didn't even.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
I'll let hold on it's
probably 12th I, so there's
really one thing I I had a bunchof minor irks with this, but I
do kind of want to bring up amajor irk 13.
It's 13 by the way, 13 dang itokay.
So yeah, the pacing just feelsoff to me so do you think
they're gonna crush the island?
Speaker 2 (27:57):
I'm sorry, crash the
castle, last part a few, a
couple episodes, and then he'sgonna jump right.
He's gonna go from there tojeju island.
We're already doing all that.
That's what I think they'regonna do.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Well, that he's gotta
, okay.
So here's the thing he's gottahe's gotta finish crushing,
crushing the demon castle.
He's gotta wake up his mom.
He's gotta deal with all theaftermath of being, uh,
evaluated in an s class, andthen he's gotta deal with jeju
island.
So, like, that's a whole lot toto pack into the rest of the
season I think they're gonna do.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
he's gonna I don't
know, I don't I again I could be
talking about my ass orwhatever, but I feel like
they're going to.
He's going to go into thecastle.
They're going to try to raid it.
Wait, let me rephrase it'sgoing to come out about the
S-Class, because they're alreadyshowing it's about to happen.
So all the fanfare and all that.
Then he's going to go into thecastle to kind of get away from
(28:49):
that and finish all that stuff.
And while he's in there, Ithink they're going to start the
Jeju Island thing, where theother hunters are starting to
raid it, and then he'll finishthe castle.
And I have a feeling he's goingto jump right to saving
everyone's ass and doing theJeju Island and the season will
end with him waking up his mom.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
I see what you're
saying.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
And I think they're
going to do that?
Speaker 1 (29:12):
I guess that could
work, but I feel like they miss
out on a lot of content.
Sure, and this kind of playsback to what I was saying while
you were, while you were lookingthat up, I I do have one major
gripe and it's that it seemslike the anime is cutting out
some of jinwu's darker side yeah, I, I agree.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Um, you only really
saw it.
When did you really see it,though?
I mean, obviously, the assassintrying to kill him, the other
members, you know, or the systemwants me to kill them, but when
I guess you sort of and theydidn't even really show you you
kind of have to look at it andif you know the darkness of him,
like he just destroyed Iron, like immediately, you know he
(29:51):
set that all up and then killedthem, was like whatever, I don't
care, you shouldn't haveattacked me.
But they didn't really like youknow, it didn't come off in a
cold-hearted way because he wasa human, like whether iron's a
dumbass, and he shouldn't havedone all that.
He blamed them.
Absolutely cool, he didn't haveto kill the dude, you know he
needed him for the fight.
It wasn't about like it wasn'ta really a righteous kid I mean,
(30:14):
he's like way stronger than Iam.
He just murdered him, raisedhim up hey, help me fight, and
that's the doctor that you'retalking about.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
But it wasn't really
acknowledged at all it wasn't
acknowledged at all and it wasjust like whatever and I get
that they were in the middle ofa fight scene, so it's kind of
hard to do the exposition.
But you can either fix this bythrowing in an explainer at the
end, which they did not do, oryou could have him be talking in
his brain, you know, while he'sfighting, which they also kind
(30:42):
of did not do they could havedid that yeah the major thing
there is, he was very adamant,um, you know, when he talked
internal monologuing, he wasvery adamant that he was never
going to turn a human into ashadow warrior.
And then when he gets into theRed Gate, and Chul's a big
annoying bastard and that's fine, that's the way the character
(31:04):
was meant to go.
But there's a line when he'stalking to himself and he's
predicting this, you know thatChul is going to attack him.
There's a line where he sayswell, if it was you, I can make
an exception, you know, and thatjust points out that In the
(31:29):
light novel anyways, it pointsout that that you know he's
starting to turn darker and thewhole setup that they also did
not show.
He kicked, uh, chul's swordover to him in the middle of the
fight, it didn't?
that sword didn't fall rightnext to him.
He didn't fall and his swordfell out of his hand and it's
just kind of there.
No, he was like go ahead and doit.
(31:49):
Yeah, jinwoo had to kick thatsword over to him and now,
granted, he can't make the man'sdecision for him, but he helped
him along.
That's kind of like an assistedsuicide.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Well, yeah, it's like
the whole.
I'm going to give you thischoice directly.
Are you going to chill or areyou going to do this thing you
want to do?
Speaker 1 (32:13):
And if you do this
thing, I do, it gives me the
right to do what I need to do,which I actually do.
Need you to fight this guy.
Blah, blah, blah, but thecoldness of it right.
So the coldness of it would bethat would be similar to.
I don't know that would besimilar.
I can't even think of somethingthat I want to say on air.
That's like that would besimilar to.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
It's bad, it's kind
of would be similar to, it's
kind of like yeah, it's terribleand assisted suicide is the
nicest way I can put that ohyeah, absolutely yeah, that
would be a good way and and it'skind of like he knew what he
was going to do, like he knewthat and but he wanted the
justification as if, if anyonewas watching, they'd be like,
well, he did run at him, youknow, and he doesn't care, like
(32:53):
he needed him to fight for thefight.
That was the point.
And you know, I I don't know ifthey're going to yeah, I mean,
I don't, I don't know if they'regoing to do that man, I don't
think they're going to do that.
I think they wanted to be morehero side, then like and justify
(33:15):
the mean side.
You know he's an anti-hero,though he's not a hero, he's an
anti-hero.
I don't know if they're gonna,they're gonna push it.
I mean, maybe they will, we'llsee, we'll see.
I mean, you know there's somestuff with the ant.
You know beer and the ant stufflater on that's like pretty,
like dang, okay, so he sendsthem on.
You know to do stuff.
So I don't know, I hope theylean into it because that's his
character, it is part of hischaracter.
Don't, don't cross it over forthe anime.
Go, go there, do it, let's go.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
We'll see.
We'll see how they treat it andagain, I'm not going to stop
watching it.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
but no, it's great,
it's awesome.
Yeah, it should we um should weabout time to jump into the,
you know the hot takes for theevening.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Yeah, yeah, once you
get first you do your first hot
take what is your go-to guiltypleasure or comfort anime?
You want me to go first?
yeah, I've done it all right, fairy tale, specifically,
specifically fairy tale, seasonone.
And I'll tell you why.
Um, when, before I got intotech, uh, when my son was about,
(34:21):
you know, he was still atoddler, he was about one years
old, maybe 18 months I I gotswitched to night shift and
about the only time I couldspend with my son because I
worked 12 hours a day.
So on my nights off, I wouldtell my wife go ahead and go to
bed and I would sit there on thecouch in the living room with
my son just in my arms and Iwould just hold him sitting
(34:44):
there watching Fairytale seasonone over and over, just because
it was on Netflix at the timeand I could binge those episodes
.
And it got to the point where,as he got a little bit older you
know two, three, four he wouldhear the song in the background
and he would get so excited andstart humming it and trying to
make up words because obviouslyyou know it's in japanese.
(35:06):
Um, so the theme, you know theopening songs he'd be trying to
sing them and do a little danceand it was just hilarious.
So now you know, like, if I'mever just, uh, chilling or just
need something comfort, you knowto watch.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
I'll put on fairytale
season one, hey man, I mean I,
I totally get it, it's.
It's one of those ones thatit's just like it puts you in
nostalgia of your kids.
You know like I, I get it, man,and it's you know, know, it
feels very sad sometimes.
So I, yeah, it hits the heart alittle bit.
I'm a hundred percent on boardwith it.
So for mine it's more comfort, guilty pleasure type thing, but
(35:45):
it's not even me, it's not evenme watching like the actual
episodes over and over, but it'smore like I'll go to YouTube
and watch certain battles andclips and for me it's Bleach.
Man, I just think Bleach hassuch a cool action scenes and
stuff and the music is just sodope and there would be times
(36:05):
I'd be writing and I'd literallyput the Bleach soundtrack on on
YouTube and battle music andliterally replaying it in my
head as I'm writing.
Because it gets me in thatspace of just like, if I'm
writing action, which is myfavorite thing to write, it just
puts me in that like epicvisualization mode to like
really draw some, you know, inmy mind play out some action
(36:26):
scenes of stuff.
So it's, um, yeah, I mean Iprobably watched ichigo in his
uh, vasto lord, you know, awesome fight scene like a
million times.
It's just, it's um, yeah, Imean, I probably watched Ichigo
in his uh Vastalord, you know, awesome fight scene like a
million times.
It's just, it's just yeah, it'sjust there.
It's just my thing.
Um, it's, it's just great.
I mean I've, I would rewatch it, but there's just too many
episodes, man, I can't, can'tcommit.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
There is a lot and I
will restart watching it.
A lot, and I will restartwatching it.
I swear, uh, yeah, but nofiller version please.
Yeah, you sent me the link forthe no to how to watch it with
no filler episodes, so I will.
I will check all that out.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Um, it's my one of my
friend's brothers explained
bleach, he's like it's dragonball z with swords, and I can
see it.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
It's just fighting
with swords instead of punching
each other with power-ups andtransformations and all that fun
stuff I was completely blownout of the water because I loved
bleach, right up until it gotto vampires and I was like what
the?
I was like vampires don't makesense in this world this is
nonsense, yeah, and then, so Iwas blown.
I was blown out of the waterwhen you were like, bro, that's
(37:28):
all filler and I'm like shut up,dude.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
You're like now I
understand that's all filler and
I'm like shut up, dude.
You're like now I understandwhy he did it and, honestly,
ichigo, he's just a shit talkertoo, man.
That's what I love about him.
He'll just talk shit to youwhile he's fighting you.
So I love that.
Let's go ahead.
Let's keep doing that.
