Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to Realm
Jumpers.
I'm Andrew and this is myco-host, jordan.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hey everyone.
We're here to dive into theworlds of fantasy and anime,
bringing you epic stories andunforgettable adventures.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
We'll be talking
world building, unforgettable
villains and everything thatmakes these genres legendary.
So let's jump into the Realmand everything that makes these
genres legendary.
So, let's jump into the realm.
We're just past the halfwaypoint of the spring anime season
and it's time to check thepulse.
Which shows are thriving, whichones are falling flat and which
got us off guard?
From pyro-powered brawls inFire Force to rooftop beatdowns
(00:39):
in Windbreaker, we're digginginto what's working and what's
not, as the season hits itscruising speed.
This week we're talking FireForce, mha, vigilantes,
windbreaker and the beginningafter the end.
Let's get into it.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Hey man, how you
doing Dude.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I'm pretty excited to
talk about this one, because
some of the shows have been good, and even the ones that are bad
I it'll be an excitingconversation.
I don't know, is exciting theright word?
It'll be a good conversationit'll be a, a disappointing.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Uh, well, we kind of
knew one of them was gonna kind
of, you know, fall asleep andfall, just just go off the deep
end, although I still like it, Ijust it's just.
Oh man, anyway, let's not startwith that one.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Well, I was gonna say
I already know which one you're
talking about, so we'll getinto that first.
Yeah, all right fine you wantto kick us off with vigilantes?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
yes, so vigilantes,
uh, I'm loving it so far.
I did read the manga so I knowwhere the story's going.
Uh, it's very fun to see thisversion of my hero where they're
not sanctioned, um, and they're.
He's, you know, the main guysand adults.
That's kind of cool.
Usually there's, you know, 13,14 year olds.
So he's in college, he's doinghis thing.
(01:53):
Uh, my hero looms a large inthe series.
Right, I know he does, uh, butit is pretty cool to see the
breakdown of like hero, villainand then the vigilante thing.
And I'm sorry, but knuckleduster is just a gangster.
He'd just be throwing hands atpeople, dude, no powers,
knocking people out.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I love it, it's
hilarious uh, well, the big
thing for me, right.
So I'm just caught up or I'mnot caught up in, you know, the
main, the main, the main showfor my hero.
Like I kind of did a speed runand I'm in season four now.
Um, I mostly just skipped thefiller episodes, but there were
(02:33):
a few episodes like I kind offast forwarded through some of
the arcs, uh, just to get likethe main story, so that way I'd
know what the hell was going on.
But one thing that I definitelysaw was like they talk about it
several times.
You know the heroes doingunsanctioned things, like the
kids are getting in trouble, like deku, and you know shoto
they got in trouble a couple oftimes for doing unsanctioned
(02:55):
hero work.
So that's a big deal, right likehow it's a huge deal oh yeah,
yeah so how I I don't know howthat's gonna affect the overall
vigilantes rest of the show.
Like I'd imagine there's goingto be, like somebody is going to
drop the hammer on him at somepoint, right.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Well, and that's kind
of.
There's a scene in like earlyepisodes where they run into a
racer head and he thinks they'revillains and he's just trying
to beat that ass.
And then he's like, oh, you'rekind of like off the books.
He's like, cool, all right,we'll just like like don't get
out of control or I'm going tohave to come back, type thing.
But the thing is right is thatthe heroes aren't coming to this
(03:32):
part of town.
That's the problem.
And these dudes are going onrampages.
These guys like they're doingdamage and like could hurt
people.
So someone really does need tolike kind of be there.
And you know it's like they'renot really there.
It kind of seems like it's avery small town or part of the
city where no one's really at.
As far as big names, you know,no, all Might, no, you know any
(03:56):
of the big guys.
And you know these dudes aretaking this drug trigger and
it's literally like times 10 intheir powers and they're just
going on rampages trigger.
And it's literally like times10 in their powers and they're
just going on rampages.
And you know, by the time theother dudes show up like
someone's gonna get killed orhurt.
So it's, it's a cool.
I like that.
They're kind of like touchingupon what is the society.
Look at this type of stuff, because the heroes, yeah,
(04:20):
there's a lot of them, butthey're not endless and they're
not just on every corner, youknow.
So it's cool to kind of seethat version of what's going
like playing out, and it's coolit's a prequel too, so there are
some stuff that hints at likelater, you know, stuff in the
story so is it meeting yourexpectations?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
because I, I mean I
had no expectations coming into
it, so it's just yeah, for me,no, it's it's super fun.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Um, I like, as I told
you, slide and glide baby.
Yeah, it's a cool little power, but uh, he definitely starts to
master it, but I it is gonnaget pretty serious as it goes on
.
I mean it was cool to see umthe class rep's older brother as
a hero.
That was dope, like you know.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
It's cool to see that
oh yeah, um god, what's his
name?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I can't remember his
name now tenya I think the young
one's tenya, but the older one, yeah, ingenium, that's ingenium
, yeah, which was dope like thatwas cool to see him, um, and I
mean it is what we're gonna talkabout, because it's an episode,
I mean early stain, what, andhe's just murking people, dude,
just straight up killingeverybody.
(05:27):
And he, the more like psychoticpart of him I guess, before he
got his ideology reallyingrained, he was just like
straight murder and he was, hewas, he was kind of like not
there yet, and then he ended upgetting to his ideology about
hero, you know, the hero thing.
It's pretty cool, it's prettyinteresting to watch that part,
for sure yeah, I think it'll, Ithink it'll finish hard.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Is this going to be
like a one and done thing again?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
because I have
probably not probably two
seasons, two seasons kind ofyeah yeah, because it's not a
super long series.
I mean, I think it was like oneof the monthly ones that would
come out once a month, sothere's not too many chapters,
but there is a, there is a storyand it is going somewhere and
it does tie into the otherseries and stuff a lot.
So and there's even a whole arcof the past with um eraser head
(06:14):
midnight and like some of themain pro heroes now, when they
were like, uh, you know about tograduate, type stuff.
There's a little arc in betweenthis whole thing that ties
everything together in a reallygood way.
So it probably two seasons Iwould think we'll probably get.
If they're 20 episodes, maybeeach, we'll probably get there.
So it'll be fun for sure well,I've been enjoying it.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
So I mean, as long as
it stays on the same track,
it's going on now I think, yeah,it just gets better, pretty
much.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
so if you like it
now're going to like it even
more as it gets, because thestakes just go bigger and bigger
as it goes on.
Yep, oh, my, my, my favoritescoming up next.
Man, my, my fight in anime.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, let's jump in
the windbreaker dude.
So I first take on windbreaker.
I think windbreaker Is the typeof show that needs to drop all
at once and not week by week.
Right here's why because theaction scenes are amazing.
(07:15):
There's no doubt about that.
The action.
They're so good, dude my actionjust kicks ass it kicks, it
just kicks total ass.
But the in-between contextepisodes where they're filling
in.
You know the relationship stufffor and, like you, know just
how these teenagers are tryingto get on in life.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
And build a family of
yeah with their friends.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
It makes it slow
enough that you're like dude one
episode.
You're like why did we justhave three episodes with no
fighting?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
see and we spoke
about that off air I'm like,
look, I'm all for building therelationships outside of just
the fighting.
But we all know why we're hereand when the every fight scene
is freaking good, like it's not, like none of them are not,
they're dope and they're justawesome.
So then when you're like, okay,we've had two, three episodes,
are we gonna get some handthrown?
You know what I mean?
Like you know it wouldn't evenmatter, it would just be like
(08:13):
total Okay, cool, whatever.
But when it's weekly, you'relike three, we were going on a
month here Can we see someelbows and knees hitting some
dudes in the in the face.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
That's why I'm saying
, dude I, I, windbreaker should
be the type of show that dropsall, all episodes at one time,
that way it doesn't piss you off.
You know, um, because I watched.
So I watched season one ofwindbreaker after it had fully
aired and fan freaking tastic um, but the few episodes where
(08:44):
they didn't have fighting itdidn't bother me because I was
like I'm gonna watch this all inone night anyways.
So you, you know, like I don'tmind these extra episodes where
they're contextualizing.
You know why these guys are theway they are.
But again, you know, like, whenthe fandom is showing up for
(09:04):
the fights, that kind of makesit a hard argument for, like,
what are you guys doing?
You got to have fights everyepisode or drop all the episodes
every.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
We want to see an
elbow at least getting someone's
chin, like every episode, butit is when you gotta wait three
weeks for a, for a.
You know an elbow drop, or youknow soccer gotta fly off the
rails and punch somebody I gottasay the blonde kid who can't
fight super cool, he's learning.
I'm like I'm really a big fan.
He's like I'm not gonna beuseless anymore, like I gotta do
(09:35):
something, like that's.
That's really cool to see, because he's he realizes that
he's really the big weightaround.
You know, they all got toprotect them all the time which,
look, learn to fight or don'tgo to the fights anymore.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Like I don't think.
Well see, I think, yeah, he'sjust got to learn to fight he's
to learn to fight.
He's not going to stop going tothe fights.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, so go fight man
, learn, learn, do some stuff.
So it's pretty, it's cool tosee uh basically the team
reporter at this point Right.
Yeah, the ranking he has.
(10:16):
Everyone's enjoying it?
Um, I do.
I will say I enjoyed the firstseason more so far, um, but I do
like this.
That's yeah that, but I like it.
I like it a lot and I likeseeing sakura is growing and
becoming like a team captain ofthat grade super cool.
I like seeing him being like,oh, I'm kind of responsible for
these people and he needs to bemore.
You know thinking about that.
So I I do enjoy it, but I didlike the first season more.
But we'll see, maybe it'll justheat up.
(10:36):
I'm sure it's about to.
I mean, it's got to be halfwaydone by now um, yeah, I, I think
it is.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
So we're at that
point.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Wait, I mean we're
past the halfway point so look,
dude, I'm gonna get I'm gonnaget no point, no pun intended
flamed on this one.
But dude, I'm watching fireforce.
Like I've always watched it andI've never particularly really
loved it.
I've always just kind of likedit and I I don't know what
there's, I don't know what it is, I just can't get into the show
.
Man, like I do like fire as apower, it's cool, it's my
(11:10):
favorite like element power.
But I just can't seem to getinto this show.
I've tried so many times.
I'm good of watch it becausewe're on the final season, so,
no matter what, some of thefights are cool, but I, dude,
there's like nothing.
For my favorite character is theone captain that's like ultra
strong, like the benny mara, Ithink his name is.
He's dope.
(11:30):
Everyone else I don't reallycare.
I don't care about what.
Shinra really, whatever.
Arthur, I like that.
He's delusional.
It's kind of funny that hethinks he's a knight, like I
think that's an awesome power, like it's pretty cool, yeah but,
also power of delusion.
Yeah, delusion like literallydelulu power, which is awesome,
it's a power, but I can't, Ican't get into this show, dude.
(11:51):
I've tried've tried so manytimes, and I love Soul Eater and
I know it's.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, let's unpack
that right.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
I mean it's a prequel
somehow.
I don't know, I love.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Soul Eater right
Fantastic.
The comedy is on point.
Yeah, the action is on point.
The art style isn't.
You know, it's not Windbreakeror like solo leveling right,
Like it's a different art style.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Which is fine.
I don't know how to describethat.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
It's fine, perfectly
fine.
The show is what it is, butSoul Eater hit.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
It was like weird
enough or something.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
I can only think of a
couple episodes that really
just pissed me off in Soul Eater.
And it's not that they pissedme off in Soul Eater, and it's
not that they pissed me off, itwas just like oh God, come on,
let's get back to the.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
You know what.
I think it is dude.
I think it's Soul Eater'scharacters are pretty unique.
I mean Blackstar, death to Kid,like they were very unique
personnel Like interesting.
And then I think just the worlditself, the weapons and the
maestros and all that super cool.
But something with this it justdoesn't seem to, it's just not
hitting dude like I think it'sthe fire animation that pissed
(12:57):
me it did get better, but evenwhen it got better it's still
like I don't know, maybe it'sthe way he fights, because he's
using, he's shooting out of hisfeet and he's I mean, the
kicking is kind of cool.
I don't know what it is, dude, Idon't really like.
It's not just not for me, it'smid dude and I'm gonna get
killed for that.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
But shinrod's action
is mid for me and it's just mid.
I can't like it's not terrible,it's not terrible right um,
it's not like our next show,like it's.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
It's not a no, it's
not a slideshow presentation but
yeah, but you're right, 100right, it destroys that in art
in action, but the story just.
Maybe it's too convoluted orsomething.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
That's the thing
though you can't have mid-action
and a mid-story yeah, you gottahave something that's just
killing it let let's be real.
Let's be real um solo levelingtop tier action story.
That's a mid power progressionfantasy story.
Like that's not true.
(14:03):
There's nothing really, it'snothing super unique yeah, it's
not super unique, they're nottelling, it's not a world, uh,
breaking story right likethere's nothing new there.
Um, and again, I love it.
It's great, fantastic sololeveling would not have done so
(14:24):
well if it did not have top tieraction animation oh, of course,
but you know what you had to do, that, yeah it well.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Well, I should say
you would think you'd have to do
that.
T-bay didn't understand that,apparently, because they.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Let's get into that.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Right, there is
something going on behind the
scenes, because I've seen thedude, the author, do interviews
and I'm like, bro, you eithergot paid a huge bonus to pick
this company because supposedlyhe had choice of like five they
could choose, and he's likegoing down with the ship.
I'm like I understand yourstory but like you watch this
(15:02):
right, like before we watched it, did you not get annoyed that
it's a slideshow, like come ondown.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
So I don't understand
.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Something's going on
bro.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I'll count, I'll
argue the counterpoint on that,
and I'm not it just you knowdevil's advocate here.
Um, obviously he's the biggestfan of his own story, right, and
he wants to see it.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
I would hope for the
animation.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
I can buy what he was
saying, that he didn't really
want a huge studio to take itbecause they wouldn't show it
the same love that they've.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
That they're already
showing their top tier shows.
I mean on paper, I guess.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I can kind of buy
that argument right but look
what happened.
He also said the second half.
You know second core.
Uh, for this season should getbetter.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
So they're in that.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
No, no, okay yeah,
we're not past episode 12 yet
and I think they're taking abreak at episode 12.
Anyways is what I heard.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Oh, well, he's
probably realizing.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
So I don't know, but
this is where it comes back to
what we were saying about FireForce T-Bait.
As far as the fandom isconcerned, that's a top tier
story for the fandom andhonestly I have to say that,
yeah, it's an isekai.
Is it completely original?
(16:36):
No.
Is it slightly derivative?
Yes, but it's told better.
There are comparisons with, youknow, jobless reincarnation,
but it's told better thanjobless reincarnation and
there's no pervy horniness, um,that makes people go ew.
(16:56):
So overall, I think t-bait is abetter story and I think t-bait
story-wise is a better story,better story than re-zero.
Like to me, subaru is boring, where, you know, king Gray slash
Arthur in T-Bate is a greatcharacter, um.
(17:18):
So I, I think the anime will dofine and and you can have the
mid or, in this case, the grossanimation because it's so bad,
dude, dude, it's terrible, Idon't know, I, I can't argue
that look, I watch it and I makeI find myself making excuses.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
I'm like, look it'll,
it'll probably get better,
because the story did draw me.
Like I want to see the story, but like when there is just no
effort on some of these scenes, like dude, it's like, come on,
man, don't.
Like it makes me want to knowwhat the hell happened behind
the scenes, because somethinghappened.
Some, either the whole team, got fired.
Like, give me a reason, becauseyou're not going to tell me.
(18:02):
You put actual people on thisand this is the best you all
came up with.
Tell me some crazy story, Idon't even care.
Give me an excuse.
But like, give me an excuse.
But like, let's just, let's bereal, this it's, it's lazy and
it's so lazy, but this, but I do, and I don't read the, the
monoma, but I, I want to, butI'm gonna wait until this season
(18:22):
, this one or cow tours orwhatever, and then I'll read it.
But I hope that they like thisis a big deal, because if they
get through this and they getanother season, they're gonna
need to like make some realpromises to the fan base.
Like, hey, we're changingstudio.
Like you're gonna have to dothat, don't, because if you come
back with this again, oh,people are gonna be mad.
(18:46):
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, I I like it enough, I'mgonna watch every week, but I'm
not like super excited to watchit.
I'm kind of just like, okay, let's watch it.
I want to see the story.
You know it's cool.
I like arthur, like he's a coolcharacter, so it's.
They're lucky their story isdifferent or interesting enough,
because if it would have notbeen that good, this thing would
(19:07):
have been destroyed.
If it would just been okay done.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
So I don't know, I'm
gonna ride with it, I am, that's
the thing I'm gonna keepwatching it, even if, even if
the studio never changes andthey give it another three
seasons, and it's crap animationfor the next three seasons
don't put that curse, I'm stillgoing to watch it.
I enjoy the story.
I'm going to watch it.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
You'll just say hey,
it's terrible, the art's
terrible.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
But it is terrible,
it's terrible.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Well, hopefully we'll
get to something.
Dude, this next one has beenthe biggest surprise for me.
Yeah, hit me up because Ihaven't checked this one out at
all, so I didn't even realize it, but this one is I don't know
what they're called Dongwa.
Is that the ones, the Chineseones?
It's the Chinese one.
It's dubbed, though.
So, yeah, I can handle themgood, and it's got like that.
(20:04):
What was the anime on Netflix, the League of Legends, one that
had Arcane, is that it?
That's it right?
There's an Arcane series orsomething.
I think it's called.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, it looks.
You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
It's got a 3D, kind
of 2D.
So this anime does that, butthen when it gets to certain
fight scenes it switches to 2Dand then goes straight anime.
And what's really interestingabout this besides the art's
pretty good is the storyline islike super interesting.
So in the world of to be hero x, trust is what gives you your
(20:40):
abilities.
Right so, and funny enough.
Of course, corporations arekind of involved a little bit on
the back end of that, becausethey so.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Then how does anybody
have abilities?
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Because nobody tries
to do operations Right right.
So it's kind of crazy.
It kind of happens organicallyat first and then sponsors get
involved a lot of times.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
God, yeah, so I'll
give you a really good Right,
yeah.
So here's a good example.
The first and I didn't realizethis either because I didn't
really tell you first three orfour episodes follows one
character, because they didn'treally tell you first.
Three or four episodes followsone character and then it swaps
to one of the because it's top10 heroes.
It's like all these differenthere.
Then it goes to other ones.
I thought it was following thisone dude, the whole story, but
it swapped.
He's of the pr, marketing likeguy, for this guy named nice is
(21:26):
the character.
The hero's name is nice whitehair, gold white, like you know,
cool, handsome, all this stuff.
Beginning of the episodehomeboy, me and guys chilling
like eating his lunch on thebuilding.
Just like you know, lunch breakworks too hard.
Nice walks over, winks at him, jumps off the building and kills
(21:47):
himself and he's like wait,what?
Okay, what's going on?
The marketing team freaks out.
They're like hey, you kind oflook like nice.
He's like I mean, I guess theydye his hair white.
He has the same build as nice.
They put him in the outfit.
They're like hey, you're nice.
He's like I don't have theability.
(22:08):
He's like you're nice, don'tworry about it.
So he starts being really thatnice I don't.
He starts being nice and peoplebelieved it because they told
them to, and he got nicestpowers, he got all of my stuff,
so it's like a, it's like awhole thing.
So I'm like, oh, that's kind of, that's kind of weird, you know
, that's kind of interesting.
So it goes through like there'sa whole thing with him and
whatever.
Well, another one of the otherheroes, dude, ran into a burning
(22:31):
building as a fireman.
A wall crashed down on this kidand he caught it and he held it
for like hours until they couldget the kid out.
So people found out that, oh,he's like he can't fall or
whatever, and his power ended upbeing he could not be like
knocked over.
He's like super strong, sturdy,or whatever.
Well, the downside of thismotherfucking shit is he can't
(22:55):
even lay down.
He can't even sit down ever.
He has to stand forever.
Dude, his bed, he's standing upat sleep.
You gotta strap him to the bedbro.
They strap him to the bed.
It's crazy.
So it's like the crazy shit.
So like in the.
So yeah, these powers likehappen from the people believing
in someone or trusting them, orwhatever they call it trust,
(23:17):
and it's like you becomeimportant.
But the problem is, if you losepopularity, your trust goes
down.
You start, you get weaker.
It's crazy.
Why didn't?
Speaker 1 (23:28):
they just put out a
public service announcement.
To be like yo my boy's dirty, can we all just believe that
he's allowed to lay down?
Can you let him?
Sit down, please Can he laydown, please, is that?
Speaker 2 (23:39):
fucking hilarious.
And then, like the HeroCorporation like manages all the
top ten people, oh God, and ofcourse they want to make sure
that they don't lose the bill.
So it's like really interesting.
And then there's this wholething with chaos and that's like
the bad guys and stuff, thevillains and stuff.
It's really pretty fuckinginteresting.
I'm like this is actually likea unique ass story why is it
always chaos?
(23:59):
That's the bad guy I know rightand then the only one every
story the the last one, becausenow they swap characters again.
But the last one was there wasthis dude easel and he has like
armor no one knows what he lookslike his face.
He's never taken off his helmet, right, so he's been like a
hero for like he doesn't have aface, right, it's gone right.
So this dude's been here for 30years, right, he's like for
(24:23):
doing it for decades.
Well, of course, he's superfamous.
So you know being a hero, andyou know they do little like
plays of esol, fighting villains, like you know for kids, like
kids party shit.
Right, this dude dresses up ashim plays esol in like kids
parties and in like you know, commercials, like this little
shit.
Well, as it goes on, there'slike a hero moment where he
(24:46):
saves this girl and people sawhis face because the helmet came
off.
Oh, this new Esau is reallyhandsome.
Maybe he's more handsome thanthe old Esau.
So as people started likebelieving in the new one, the
old one's power started gettinglower and new boy's power
started going up.
So then you have, like, thesetwo dudes that are kind of
(25:08):
competing for the mantle thatthe guy's been carrying for 30
years and it's like going, likeit's starting.
Like you know, it's prettyinteresting dude, it's a really
cool concept, really weird, butit's fun.
Yeah, it's really cool.
So it's definitely beensurprising.
And the animation style it goesthat 3d and then the 2d like
kicks it up.
(25:29):
I mean it looks awesome whenit's 2d and it's just, you know
the fights and it flips back andforth and stuff.
Yeah, it's.
Uh, it's been a surprise.
Apparently.
It's like 25 episodes, I thinkit's.
Every character's got like twoor three episodes.
It goes into some of like theirbackstory and what's going on
and then it's all you know to behero.
X.
X is like the ranked one dudewhich I don't know anything
(25:50):
about him, but he's thestrongest hero and the most
popular hero and blah, blah,blah.
Yeah, but it's fun, man, checkit out.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
And I will.
I had no promises, promises, but I will try to check that out
.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, it came out of
nowhere for sure.
I was like 3D.
No, it was like, oh, okay, it'skind of cool.
It turned out like one of thosethings.
Well, I think the season'sgoing pretty good, huh.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, I'm definitely
excited to see where the rest of
the season takes us.
I will say I did so.
I have been watching.
Um.
This one wasn't on the list.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Um, oh god what was
the name of it?
We talked about it in.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
You know, when we
brought up the spring season and
it was the, the witch that diesor she's gonna die.
Oh, how is that?
It's actually pretty good.
It's the most slice of lifething I've ever seen, but it's
just really it's.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
It's super funny dude
I, I don't know it's, it's well
, hey, I'm glad you checked itout, because I, yeah, I wasn't
planning on watching that one umanimation is really clean.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
It's funny uh it's
not special.
It's not great.
It's just a good comfort anime.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
I don't know yeah hey
, sometimes you need that.
You can't have all uh, you knowslideshows, fire forcing and
wind breaking all the time, sothis is pretty interesting.
Man, do you see this thingabout this piracy site?
Speaker 1 (27:17):
um, yeah, dude, it's,
yeah, I should we even mention
it?
Anime heaven.
Let's just, we'll just put itout there anime heaven is down,
y'all.
Um yeah, crunchy roll institute11 million dmca action.
If you were watching yourcontent on anime heaven, I would
(27:38):
say now is the time to actuallysubscribe to crunchyroll, or
maybe just go ahead and findanother site somewhere.
I I don't know if you'resailing the seas.
You know that's a risk you takesometimes, right?
Speaker 2 (27:55):
I mean, yeah, 11.6
million visits in a month is a
crazy amount, man, that is nutty.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
So well, that's gonna
happen.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
I mean, I, I think
anime haven't stayed up longer
than probably most other oneshonestly, I don't know how they
skated by for so long I alwayswonder about that, and you know
that's a big deal with the whole.
Uh, you know manwa, manga stuff, scan scanlations or whatever
they call them, that's anotherthing.
That's like kind of they'regoing after them a lot too.
(28:24):
So, yeah, it's, it's a, it's a.
It's a weird world out there.
If you're, if you're piratinganime stuff, they're not playing
around, no more I honestlythey'll probably be anime.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Heaven will probably
be back up with a slightly
changed name because url that'show this stuff works, right like
that's something you know um.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You just change one
thing and keep rolling and then,
well, they probably have somany backup sites and yeah, yeah
, and honestly it depends onwhere they're hosting the
content at.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
to begin with, I just
, I don't know.
There are so many weirdloophole laws, or no, there are
so many weird loopholes for thelaws about, you know, digital
content.
It's I don't know if they'reever going to get that
straightened out.
It's you just got to keepdealing with a new site or, like
(29:14):
I said, you know, crunchyrollis not just just go get it.
Just get the Crunchyroll.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Or just yeah, or you
know, log on your friends or
something, do something or justbuy the content to do something.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
That way you have it
forever.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
You could definitely
do that.
That's some old school shit.
No one knows about that.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Back when we grew up,
Well, let's see, here's the
thing, though.
Here's the thing, though, dudething, though dude, if you,
that's really the best way to doit right, you buy your content,
yeah, you pay more for it upfront.
You buy your content and thenyou burn.
You know, you burn it, save it,uh, that way, when crunchyroll
decides to stop streaming it,you will forever have your
content yeah, because they liketo take stuff off all the time
(29:56):
yeah, like I was looking fordarker than black um a couple of
weeks ago that's not thereanymore darker than black.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I can't find it
anywhere.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Dude um netflix no, I
just had one of those random
like man.
I haven't seen that in years.
I want to check that out andit's nowhere to be found and
that kind of stuff is soobnoxious dude.
Yeah, so the dvd, blu-ray set, dude, it was like 300 bucks.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
I was like, okay,
well, I guess I'm never watching
this again well, yeah, it'sbecause they know they're not
even making them anymore, right?
Speaker 1 (30:30):
so that's obnoxious
man, that's like yeah, if you
are in love with solo leveling, buy the content now.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
So that way when they
stop streaming it you have it
and you never have to worryabout it.
It's so I, I.
That's the thing with streaming.
It was never supposed to be.
You couldn't find stuff.
It's once it was there and thenthey rotate from one out to the
next.
They license it for three years, then it disappeared in the
void.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Yeah, well, we're see
, now we're getting into the
whole political side of thatthing.
But yeah and uh, streamingservices were supposed to be the
answer to cable and theoutrageous price gouging, yeah,
the price gouging with cable andstreaming was supposed to be
the answer to that and nowstreaming services have become
the new cable uh, oh yeah, they're the uh, they're the
(31:20):
demon lord that needs to getslayed for sure.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
All right, here goes
to the next one.
So this is a big deal, because,uh, toey is they're gonna start
doing some ai, I guess in theirseries.
And I know, I saw, I saw thebacklash on twitter on this.
People were very mad about itand I didn't see them recant it,
so it kind of seems likethey're like tough shit, deal
(31:44):
with it.
I don't know, I really don'tknow.
Well, they shared their planslike.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I think it's like
background.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Right, they said
background or something.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yeah, they completely
backtracked what they were
saying and they're saying wewill use ai in the future, but
we're not using it right now.
Here's our plan for the futurebut that is tomorrow.
Right, exactly Tomorrow, 36hours from the date from the
tweet.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I posted this.
Yeah, I heard that they weregonna oh, it's only gonna be
backgrounds, not gonna becharacters.
And then I heard okay, whendoes it go from background to
characters?
To let me talk about thisbefore.
It's gonna get to a point where, like, they can say all they
want, they want to use it forthe clouds, but we all know it's
gonna end up being action.
(32:32):
The second they can get it todo action, that's a wrap, dude,
it's a wrap I, this is a hill Iwill die on because you know I
love what they.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
I love ai, yeah, but
ai is not for everything, don't
you know?
Speaker 2 (32:46):
just they're gonna
try stop being.
They're gonna try.
They're gonna try, but I'm withyou, but I think that they're
just gonna try to figure it out.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
I mean not try,
they'll just push it until it
happens.
I well, that's the thing, likedude.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
This is how we get
skynet, yeah because I saw
something with ai uh voiceacting stuff.
They're trying to now get ridof voice actors.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I'm like really yeah,
really well, so the thing, this
wasn't toey, just so no,anybody watching that's clear.
Uh, yeah, so the thing with theai voice acting.
What they were saying was um no, we don't want to replace shows
that currently have dubs.
Only if it doesn't have a dub, then we will, uh, do an ai
(33:36):
voiceover.
But how, how quickly does thatgo from only for shows that
don't already have a dub to hey, let's tell them no dub on this,
so that way we can do it?
Speaker 2 (33:46):
uh, the second that
it actually passes and people
don't realize it's ai dub.
Then yeah, they're gonna do that, yeah as soon as the current,
as soon as the current voiceactor season contracts are over,
better belief that yeah that'llbe in there yeah, and they're
gonna be like hey, you know, when you did sign this, you
didn't read the last littlething, but we can, you know, use
(34:09):
your voice to train ai, so thisway you can use your actual
your.
Really, I don't think they can.
So okay, here's the thing Iknow it's a big thing with that,
though.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Well, no, uh I, we're
gonna jump back in the way back
, the way back time machine here.
Um, you remember back to thefuture, back to the future three
, two or three, I don't remember.
So the guy that originallyplayed marty mcfly's dad, right,
um, he couldn't be in.
He couldn't be in either thesecond one or the third one
(34:37):
because of scheduling conflictsand I promise this will relate
to what you were just sayinghere.
Just a second he couldn't be inthe second or third movie due
to scheduling conflicts withsomething else he was working on
.
So they were, instead ofworking with his schedule.
They were just like all right, fine, f, you, we'll find
somebody else.
And they did.
But they found somebody else andthen made him look exactly like
(35:00):
the other guy and the guy suedand I believe he won.
Like that's now part of likeHollywood crap.
Like you can't, you can't makea replacement.
Look exactly the same as thesource actor.
So if you relate that over, Iwould guarantee some good lawyer
(35:25):
will find a way to say no, youcan't fire my voice actor to
then replace my voice actor withtheir own voice.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
But at ai, that you
use ai to learn how to yeah,
you'll have to find a whole newvoice, so I'm fairly certain
they will have to find a wholenew voice I mean they should,
because it's not right.
I mean, well, you can't stealpeople's voice.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Yeah dude in this
world.
How many times do we?
Look at people doing what'sright just because it's right.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Never, almost never
yeah, all like the fake podcast
with people that it soundspretty real but it's not.
Yeah, it's crazy.
It's crazy.
It's going to be us buddy.
They're going to do a fakepodcast with us.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah, so yeah, that's
Realm.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Rumors this week.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Just bringing the
controversy full to your face,
like we don't, there's nothingfun, or exciting about this
week's news.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Nope, straight up
controversy.
Sometimes it goes that way, youknow.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
All right.
So for the hot take this week, would you rather create the best
anime ever made, but it haszero fans?
Or would you rather beresponsible for creating the
worst piece of crap anime thathas ever been made, but it's got
(36:48):
a huge, loyal fan base?
Speaker 2 (36:52):
okay, so just one
clarifying question on the first
one, the zero fans.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
It's starting with
zero fans or it's just never
going to have fans, it's never.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
It never gets
anything I mean at that point.
I'd rather, you know, have madetb, so you're choosing money,
so you choose money well, Iwould rather people you know
experienced it a little bit lord, instead of no one even cares
yeah, I don't know, that's aweird one, right, I think I
(37:24):
would pick like.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
I think I would pick
my own personal product, like I
want to make the best thingpossible and you just watch it
over and over.
I'm the fan, damn it you know,I'm I'm my only fan getting the
counter up over and over justrewatching.
Yeah, I guess maybe I shouldhave clarified that to like
maybe 30 years from now it'llhave fans, but not like, not now
(37:47):
not anytime soon not anytimesoon.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Yeah, I mean you
would.
Yeah, it makes sense.
I mean still, I, whatever havepeople look at it, I'd rather
people see it.
At least no one ever sees it.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
That's so sad, it's
terrible, just think like it's
just sitting out there, it's thebest anime ever made or ever
will be made well, there's someof those cult classic movies
that were complete bombs whenthey came out.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
You know, apparently
the thing bombed, the best
freaking horror movies ever made.
Yeah, when it came out of movietheater made like no money.
It was terrible.
And then it came on vhs andjust went you know to be fair,
that movie is kind of terrible.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
It's just fun to
watch, it's just a crazy movie
dude.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
It's just ridiculous,
but it is kind of crap I'm not.
I'm not saying it's not fun.
It's fun to watch I love it,but also it's crap yeah, but I
think what it was is that just, yeah, something else came out at
that time, oh, probably, youknow.
And then they know, no one sawit.
And then phs, I mean changedthe game, right.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
So or I mean, you
gotta remember like when the
thing came out, everything wasbased on promotion.
So if they didn't have apromotional budget, or if the
studio dropped the ball anddidn't, promote the way they
were supposed to.
Your movie could go in to lalaland and never get any
recognition which it would bewild.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
It would be wild to
do that.
And then, like 10, 15 yearslater, it blows up on you know
rental or something.
It'd be so weird, right not it?
Speaker 1 (39:18):
yeah, that would, but
also be kind of cool, right?
So like, let's say, you've madethat anime and you completely
gave up on the industry becauseyou know it flopped right and
then, 20 years from now, youjust start getting royalty
checks because, like it, all ofa sudden gets popular just blows
up.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
I think I'd be okay
with that.
Yeah, I mean it would be okayfor sure.
It would be terrible, though itnever happened I say no.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
If they asked me to
come back and make another one,
I'd be like no, screw you guys.
Not a chance.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Not to go with you
guys again Never.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Yeah, never, all
right, I'm with you.
That was a good one, all right.
