In this episode, we sit down with Cristina Maduro, a wardrobe stylist and entrepreneur from the DMV area. Her journey is one of transformation—moving from corporate success to motherhood, entrepreneurship, and redefining fulfillment.
From Corporate to Motherhood & Identity Shifts
Cristina’s early career was traditional—executive coaching, advanced degrees, and corporate loyalty. But when she had her first child while working for her father’s business, people expected her to stay home as the CEO’s daughter. Eventually, she left, struggling with postpartum challenges at a time when few were talking about them.
As the youngest sibling and the first in her friend group to become a mother, she lacked the community support she needed. She credits Lisa Harris for helping her realize the importance of building a village, something that feels less common today.
Entrepreneurship & Finding Her Path
Cristina’s entrepreneurial journey began at her children’s co-op preschool, where she bonded with other moms questioning how to balance career and motherhood. While working part-time in a maternity and children’s boutique, she saw firsthand how high-achieving women navigate life transitions.
This led her to co-purchase the boutique, marking her first business venture. At the same time, her involvement in an MLM (multi-level marketing) business helped her develop skills in coaching, branding, and wardrobe stylist.
After seven years, she sold her shares and went all-in on MLM, where she built a strong community and business network.
Lessons in Business & Motherhood
Cristina highlights the different stages of difficulty—whether raising children or running a business—each season has challenges.
As a stylist, Cristina believes in the power of presentation—from showering to wearing a bold lip color, small shifts can transform confidence and energy. She’s also let go of rigid definitions of success.
Now, she balances boutique styling and virtual wardrobe services, embracing joy intentionally and capitalizing on her God-given gifts.
Advice to Her Younger Self: Trust your gut. Play to win, not to avoid losing.
