Rev Rachel Harrison (00:00):
Welcome to
2025 and season six of the
Recover your Soul podcast.
It's Rev Rachel.
I'm so excited to have you withme here today.
We are going to step into thenew year with some prosperity
principles, some law ofattraction tools and tips.
We are going to work throughhow you can begin to vision and
pull to yourself the life thatyour soul is calling for you to
(00:20):
live, and you might not be in aplace where you think that you
can do that right now.
It may you to live, and youmight not be in a place where
you think that you can do thatright now.
It may be really hard.
That's where I was seven yearsago when I started this work.
I couldn't imagine that I couldhave anything better, but when
I got clarity about what it wasthat my soul wanted, it began to
(00:41):
show up for me.
I started doing the work and Ibegan to walk the path that was
being presented by my soul.
Let's do it.
Enjoy the episode.
Welcome to the Recover your Soulpodcast a spiritual path to a
happy and healthy life.
My name is Reverend RachelHarrison.
I started Recover your Soulafter having profound changes in
(01:03):
my life from my recovery ofalcoholism, codependency and
control addiction.
I was guided to share the toolsand principles of spirituality
and soul recovery to help otherstransform their lives, as mine
was transformed.
For us to overcome externalcircumstances, we need to turn
the attention to ourselves, focusing on our inner change and
(01:26):
healing.
Positive results in our liveswill follow.
Hello Soul Recovery Community.
It's Rev Rachel.
Welcome to 2025 and season sixof the Soul Recovery Podcast.
Man, is that wonderful?
Just to say out loud, I am sohonored, honored, honored and
(01:46):
privileged to be in so many ofyour ears and I thank you so
much from the bottom of my heartfor allowing me to continue to
be in this seat.
I can't believe that we'removing into a sixth year
together.
It's really profound andbeautiful and it's a testament
to the work that we're all doingin the community that's
building For today's episode.
(02:08):
I want to give us some energyto start 2025.
Maybe some of you've beenthrough difficult times.
Maybe this has been a hard yearor couple years or a season of
life and we're opening up to newthings, and one of the things
in soul recovery is that we wantto process what we've been
(02:31):
through.
The nine-step soul recoveryprocess gives you a model to
walk through the complexities ofwhat it is to be a human being
on earth, school and how we canrelease our old patterns.
I love at the end of the year.
The last week's episode wasaround releasing all that no
longer serves us and originallyI had thought maybe I'll move on
(02:54):
to the next step and I was likeno, it's the beginning of the
year and I want us to reallystep into this place that says
we are deserving of joy and loveand enoughness.
We are deserving of a happy, healthy life.
We are here to enjoy and loveour lives and we can do that,
(03:16):
even if it's complicated outthere.
My life continues to be just asstrange in so many ways as it
ever was, but I see itdifferently.
I've used a lot of thesemetaphysical tools and spiritual
principles to indeed shift howI see the world and how it
(03:36):
responds to me.
What we see on the outside is areflection of how we feel about
it on the inside, or, as I liketo say, our lives are what we
think and feel and believe thatthey are.
I've gathered many of thesemetaphysical and spiritual tools
from a lot of different places, but I had so much time at a
unity center here in Coloradothat had profound influence on
(04:01):
my life in so, so, so, so manyways.
One was that every year inJanuary, they would offer a
prosperity plus class.
Now, when I took that class, when I was in the depths of the
darkness, I wasn't ready for it,because you're only ready when
you're ready, but by the timethat I was sober and I was in my
(04:23):
first year of sobriety.
So they usually do it inJanuary, so it must have been a
full year of sobriety.
At that point I did the classand I felt it different, and I
know you've probably heard metell this story before, but when
the speaking comes, when thewisdom comes, it's amazing how
it can make immediate changes inyour life.
Some of you have told me thatthis is how you feel about this
(04:46):
podcast, that I've said thingsin a way that has made sense to
what has always been in there orplaces where you've been
gathering information.
But the way that I put ittogether has been really
impactful for you and it'shelping you to step into your
wholeness, into your wisdom andinto your innate knowing, and I
am so thrilled that that's thecase.
(05:07):
So for me, this prosperity classwas similar.
That year I had had a year ofsobriety.
I was still at my job becausemy sponsor had said don't get
another job for a year.
You got to stay there for ayear, but that year was coming
up and it was getting time to go.
You got to stay there for ayear, but that year was coming
up and it was getting time to go.
And so, for whatever reason, this time, when I was doing the
(05:32):
prosperity writings, thevisioning that they taught,
something shifted, and that'swhat I'm going to teach you
today, along with an assignmentof doing a vision board.
What I want you to do is I wantyou to take out a piece of paper
and I want you to write fourquadrants on that piece of paper
.
One is relationships, one ishealth, one is career and one is
time and money, freedom.
(05:53):
And if you're driving andlistening, I'll have these
listed in the show notes forlater, when you get home.
These four quadrants of yourlife are, you know.
I mean you could go intosmaller subsections if you
wanted to, but these are prettygood indicators of what's
happening in your life.
And what I want you to do firstis I want you to rank from a
(06:14):
scale of one to 10, one beingabsolutely dismal, horrible, 10
being perfect doesn't needanything to change how you feel
about each of these quadrantsright now in your life.
How do you feel in yourrelationship, not only your
relationship, maybe, with aromantic partner, but your
relationship with your kids oryour friends or your coworkers?
How are you in relationshipwith other people?
(06:37):
Are you in a low place or areyou in a great place?
Next, move into health.
How do you feel about yourhealth?
How do you feel about your body?
How do you feel about the foodthat you're consuming?
How do you feel about how yourbody moves or feels One being
terrible, 10 being incredible.
And then move into career.
Maybe you don't have a careerper se where you get paid, but
(07:00):
what do you do with your timeand energy?
What do you do with your timeand energy?
What do you do with yourservice?
What are you doing with yourlife, energy and how you are
producing or creating in theworld?
What does that feel like to you?
One being not great, 10 beingamazing couldn't be better.
And then time and money freedom.
How are you spending your time?
(07:21):
Do you have time and moneyfreedom?
Are you just scraping by?
Are you in a?
And money freedom.
Are you just scraping by?
Are you in a lot of debt?
Are you overwhelmed withfinances?
Maybe you're in a place whereyou have great life set up,
where you have a lot of time andmoney freedom.
Does it even seem scary tothink of the concept of time and
money freedom?
A one being low and 10 beingfabulous?
(07:43):
A one being low and 10 beingfabulous everything's perfect?
I would assume that none of ushave 10s in any of the
categories, because 10s arepretty hard to get.
But I do want you to look atthis not from a place of being
upset with yourself and yourlife, but for you to actually
have honesty about what isBecause I had my head in the
sand for so long, just trying topretend like everything was
(08:05):
great and not actually dealingwith the complexity and the
disappointment and sadness thatwas in my life that, after I'd
had a year of sobriety under mybelt, I was able to give some
real, honest, honest markings ofhow I felt about this.

Back to the episode, and thebeauty is that this is a
starting place.
This means good, there's someplace to go.
You always want to have roomfor more, and one of the things
(09:30):
that I loved about what wastaught in this class is you can
always have more.
More does not mean that you'reasking for more money so that
you can go around and, you know, show off to people, or that
that's what's going to make youhappy.
Show off to people or thatthat's what's going to make you
happy.
More is not from the outside.
More is a growth.
It's a mindset.
It says there's always room formore.
(09:52):
There's always room for askingfor more.
We can not expand if you'reafraid to expand.
We're either moving forward ormoving backward.
There's no standing still.
We're always, always in motion.
So when we recognize that, yes,I want more, even if you have a
great relationship with somebody, you can say I want to have
(10:14):
more presence together.
I want to really feel even morelove, not because there's not
enough, but there's always roomfor more.
So now I want you to look atthese four quadrants, and the
key in this is that the universeloves you.
The key in this is that theuniverse loves you.
(10:35):
I know that sometimes soundstrite or hard to hear, but it's
true.
But it's true in all spiritualteachings.
The message is that you areloved, is that you are enough,
that you are holy, that you area gift.
You're a child of the universe, and there are traditions and
(10:59):
places that have made people notbelieve this and gotten caught
up in fear.
But the real teachings are thatwe are all loved, that you are
deserving of more, and so whenyou begin to use these
principles, we are using theseprinciples from the limited
scope in which we see the world.
(11:21):
If the world is what we thinkand feel and believe it is, we
often are only asking for whatwe think we deserve, and that
deservedness comes from theseold beliefs, patterns and
stories that we told ourselves.
Jesus said if you had faith thesize of a mustard seed, you
could move mountains.
If you really think about whatthat means, that's what I'm
(11:43):
talking about that with faith, you too can do these things.
And even greater still.
The promise has been from allspiritual teachings that we are
deserving of more and that wecan indeed ask.
Ask and it will be given.
Ask and you shall receive.
If you want to just go intotraditional teachings, listen to
(12:06):
what they're saying.
So when we begin to expand andopen up and believe that we can
have something different thanwhat we have right now, it's
scary, it's really scary.
It's scary.
It's really scary Because, evenif right now isn't all that
(12:27):
great, our fears around what mayhappen or how things will
change, or what it will looklike for me to make big change
is so profound that we'll juststay small.
And it isn't about also beingdisappointed in what you have
and wanting more from thisreally materialistic standpoint
that's out there in the mediathat says, if you have the
newest car, if you have thefinest clothes, if you have the
(12:49):
biggest house, then you'll behappy.
Most of those people in thosehouses are not happy.
We're talking about an innerknowing and inner deservedness
within yourself to have happy, whole, healthy relationships, to
have a happy, whole, healthyrelationship with yourself.
And so as we use these wordsand as we talk about this
(13:10):
visioning for what we want forthe next year, we're moving into
feelings.
We're moving into thisawareness that if we're
connected to something evengreater still, it actually sees
bigger than we can see.
So when I did that process backin, let's see, I got sober in 18
.
So, 19 in January, february of2019, I was still at the job.
(13:36):
That was not all that great.
I still had a difficultrelationship with my husband.
My kids were still addicts.
I still had money issues.
I still was not as physicallyfit or as healthy as I would
like to be.
There was more than I wantedand I was doing the work and I
(13:57):
was doing the steps and so Ibegan to do this practice.
It's taught to use thejournaling prompts.
I am so happy, or I am sograteful for, or I love that.
I'm so happy and grateful.
I love that.
I'm so happy, I'm so grateful.
You get the feeling of it andyou write it as if it is here
(14:19):
now, because there's no past orfuture anyway, there's only
right here.
We remember the past, we havememories of the past, but it's
already over, and then we havethe future.
We are consumed with the future.
We're trying to predict thefuture, we're trying to control
the future, and the only thingyou can do is be right here, and
how you are right here is goingto have a major indication of
(14:42):
what happens coming up and willheal what happened in the past.
So this concept of writing as ifit is here now actually brings
your energy here, because themore aligned we are and this is
going to get out there in thespiritual woo, woo stuff the
more emotionally aligned you arevibrationally with the things
(15:05):
that you want, the more likelythey are to come to you, because
we are all just energy.
It's all.
Science proves that everythingis just energy and energy
attracts energy.
Like attracts like.
So if you look at all thescience around the power of this
stuff, you realize it's notcrap and you start to think to
(15:27):
yourself well, I can eitherresist it or I can step into it.
When we have all of our energyaround what we don't like, we're
going to get more of what wedon't like, and so this isn't a
practice of sitting down andsaying here's all the stuff I
don't like in my life.
This is a practice about sayinghere's what I want to draw to
myself.
In that first square, where Iwrote about my relationships, I
(15:49):
so wish I could find the pieceof paper that this is on.
I tucked it away someplacespecial and now I can't find it.
It said something along thelines of I'm so happy and
grateful to be in a lovingrelationship, that we laugh and
enjoy our time together, that weenjoy traveling and that we
have good and healthycommunication something along
those lines.
(16:10):
Not at all.
What was happening?
I can't even tell you enoughabout how.
That was not what was happeningin my life with my husband at
the time, and I laugh now somuch because it talks about
traveling.
It talks about laughingtogether.
It talks about healthiercommunication.
I listed that I wanted to be inhappy and healthy relationship.
(16:33):
I didn't say with rich, by theway, in my writing, because if
the universe was calling for meto not be married to my husband
at that time, still the samehusband today.
But if the universe was callingfor me to not be married to my
husband at that time, still thesame husband today.
But if the universe had beencalling for me to not stay
married to rich, I needed to beopen to that.
I was asking the universe for ahappy, healthy relationship and
(16:56):
marriage where we laughed andenjoyed each other, where we
were friends, where we traveled, where we laughed and enjoyed
each other, where we werefriends, where we traveled,
where we had good communication.
The next one was around careerand in that square again, I'm at
(17:16):
a job that's not all that great.
I've been there trying to mendmy fences and heal a lot of the
wounds that I inflicted when Iwas there, drinking and not
showing up as my best self.
I inflicted when I was there, drinking and not showing up as
my best self, and it got really, really intense at the end and
my brain thought it was goingone way and it was going the
other way and it's blowing up asI'm in this Prosperity Plus
class and I'm writing things I'man office manager at the time
(17:37):
right, I'm writing things thatsay I love that I am in a career
where I get to be a spiritualguide.
I said something along thoselines that my commute's not very
far, that I have a big picturewindow.
My mind is blown.
My mind is blown right now thatI wrote down those six years
(18:00):
ago what I do now, and it wasn'teven in the cards at all.
It was not in anything, noteven slightly on the view of
what was going on.
Right, this is what I loveabout this.
I wrote that for health.
I said I love that I feel goodin my body.
That for health.
I said I love that I feel goodin my body.
(18:22):
Now, if you just listen to theepisode a couple weeks ago where
I talked about you know I havesome food stuff, I have some
body stuff, I have some weightstuff, but you know I love
myself so much compared to how Ifelt when I wrote that on the
piece of paper.
I didn't love my body and Ididn't love how I felt about
(18:43):
myself and I didn't feelcomfortable in my skin.
Yet those words that I said, they too have come to pass.
And then for time and moneyfreedom.
I talked about how grateful Iwas that I got to travel, that
we got to spend winters at thebeach and that we had a regular
(19:03):
income and that we felt secure.
None of that was in any ofthose quadrants in my life and
everything was down at like twos, threes in my one to 10.
That's the beauty of us beingopen to listening to what the
universe is sharing with you.
I want you to write thesesentences from a place that says
(19:29):
if I were to believe that withfaith the size of a mustard seed
, I could move mountains, thatif I open my heart just enough
to say I am so happy andgrateful that I have such loving
relationships with my kids, that I see them just as they are
and that they are thrivingright, that allows us to have
(19:52):
feelings.
I'm so happy and grateful to beat ease in my relationship.
I love that we enjoy each otherso much and that we laugh and
play and see each other just aswe are.
I love that there's so muchtolerance in my life.
I am so flexible now, witheverything that's happening to
(20:13):
me, it's kind of like the powerof tuning into what is being
called to you.
I have this strong belief thatwhen it resonates with you, when
you really feel it and youwrite it down on the paper and
it speaks to you, that'sactually spirit speaking to you.
It's not you telling God orsource or higher power what you
(20:37):
want.
It's actually higher power, source, the universe, aligning
with your soul.
It's your soul speaking to you, saying this is what I'm calling
for you to be, your fullestself, to be your most
magnificent, wonderful, fully, fully, like oh God, it's just so
authentic, like.
(20:58):
Who is that?
Who do you want to be?
What do you want to call toyourself?
What the course that I took saysis that now you write these
every single day, you getclarity on maybe a couple
sentences from each so that youcan post that somewhere and you
can look at it every single dayand you're passing it and you're
(21:20):
knowing that this is whatyou're drawing to yourself,
you're trusting and allowing.
And actually what they say inthe law of attraction that I
think is so cool is that whenyou write these things and you
feel it, the giddiness and thejoy and the relief and the
freedom that you feel.
That's where the magic is.
We actually think that thosethings on the piece of paper are
(21:41):
going to be what give us thosefeelings, but we want to create
those feelings first.
We want to allow ourselves torecognize that we can have a
healthy, happy family, that wecan begin to create that
regardless, and those feelingsthat we feel allow that also to
(22:03):
align with us, because we're notwaiting for what is on the
paper to give us the feeling.
We're experiencing the feeling,we're testing out the feeling
and then through that, all thealignments start to happen.
Right while I was in the class, actually which I think is so
interesting I got a call from aheadhunter that immediately
(22:25):
plucked me from the job that Iwas in and put me in a little
temporary job.
That ended up being what led menext to working at my Unity
Church.
And then in the Unity Church iswhen I had the space and the
incredible desire to move moreinto a spiritual realm.
I'd started the podcast.
(22:45):
I became an ordained ministerand have just gone gangbusters
since then.
Right Like that happened.
And in the midst of all that, mykids moved to California.
And when they moved toCalifornia.
It disrupted the pattern thatwe were in as a family and Rich
and I were able to work on ourstuff in the pandemic.
And one day I was sitting thereand we were watching TV or
(23:09):
making dinner or something inthe middle of the pandemic and I
realized we were laughing.
We were laughing and reallyenjoying each other and having a
good time.
I had been doing my work time,I had been doing my work, I had
been doing my soul recovery work, I had been using my spiritual
tools of forgiveness and lettinggo of control and my
(23:29):
relationship was blossoming.
And then we started to figuresome things out and both of us
did some things financially andwe got into a better place.
We got into a place where weweren't scraping by like we had
been before and I started tofeel better in my body because I
started to love myself.
(23:51):
But I had to have clarity ofwhat I'm asking the universe for
.
It's hard to you know go on ona path.
If you don't know what pathyou're taking, you end up kind
of rambling around.
So this process of writing on abasis, a daily basis.
You could be looking out sixmonths from now.
You could be looking out a yearfrom now, five years from now,
(24:13):
whatever feels best for you, butyou're opening this law of
attraction, this law ofcompensation, this law of the
universe to begin to speak toyou Now.
Pictures are another great wayto do this, and for years I've
been doing a vision board at thebeginning of every year and I
am blown away at how often thosevision boards come to pass
(24:37):
almost exactly.
And again I put stuff on thevision boards that seems kind of
out there, kind of like astretch.
One year I put on a new car andthe next year I got a new car.
I put on that I wanted a whitekitchen.
One year and a couple yearslater the kitchen had been
(24:58):
completed, this beautiful whitekitchen.
You're giving clarity to theuniverse.
What you want and so what I dowhen I do the vision boards is I
get a whole bunch of magazinesand I just start flipping
through and I just start cuttingout things that appeal to me.
Maybe it's a couple smiling andholding hands, maybe it's a
picture of a beach that appealsto me, maybe it is words of
(25:23):
affirmations, you know strong,or maybe it's some pictures of
some people meditating.
Maybe it's pictures of travel,I had a picture that had just
the airplane wing and I realizedthat was my view and the entire
time that we flew to Indonesiathat I got to look at that wing,
it was exactly that wing.
(25:43):
I've had beaches that I endedup being at places that had that
exact view and it seems kookybananas, it seems crazy out
there.
And I still have a picture onmy newest vision board that has
a picture with Oprah Winfreyright Holding up a book and on
it I've written in soul recovery, the nine steps of soul
(26:04):
recovery.
That's a pretty big dream andwhether I get that dream or not,
just me telling you that dreammakes me smile, it makes me
happy.
So the happiness, whether I getthe book and get it held by
Oprah or not, doesn't matteractually, because the universe,
if we trust and believe, isindeed conspiring for our joy
(26:26):
and happiness.
Just like we talked about inthe beginning, as you're doing
this work of setting up for thenew year, work really hard to
not get caught up in the.
But this isn't what I have andthis isn't how he's showing up
and I can't have this andthere's no way, financially,
that we could do this.
This is not about wishing alife that isn't aligned with you
(26:50):
.
This isn't about saying if Ihad the big car, the big house,
the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, then I'd finally be happy.
No, this is you listening toyour soul and saying I love
being in healthy relationships.
I'm so happy to have more timewith my friends, I love that I
(27:10):
get to cook and play and dothings with my family.
That fills me with joy, myfamily, that fills me with joy.
We're calling to ourself lifeand experience and feelings and
from that there will be materialgain.
You know, it is interesting howmany beliefs that we have
(27:31):
around lack and how we areundeserving of more.
And we are here to step intoour authentic self.
We are here to call out to theuniverse what we are ready for,
to listen to the universespeaking to you.
So, stepping into this new year, I invite you to dream big in
(27:54):
your quadrants, to allowyourself to feel from the depth
of your soul the wholeness ofwho you are.
There's no shame or harm inwriting these things down and,
even if it feels like a bigstretch, I encourage you to be
tender to yourself and recognizethat you have within you to
(28:16):
heal your own heart and to giveyourself tenderness to the
wounds that are there, so thatthose parts that don't think
that they are deserving ofhealthy, happy relationships or
jobs that give them joy and makethem feel seen and working with
teams that they enjoy spendingtime with or being compensated
(28:38):
in a way that allows you to havea healthy, happy life.
You know, I mean those are justa couple of the things, right,
but it's interesting how it'shard for us to ask.
We can't get what we need if wedon't ask.
So it's getting clarity to theuniverse to begin to ask and
then then it'll give you thenext steps.
(28:59):
Then the universe will start toopen up for you.
You realize you're not puttingthe order in and then waiting
for, you know, the truck to backup.
You got to put the order in andthen you've got to do the steps
that get you to the finish line.
You were the one walking thepath, but this is getting
clarity about what is the path, what is it that I'm calling to
myself, and it might also giveyou clarity about some things
(29:22):
that need to shift and change, about boundaries, but it's all
from love and grace andcompassion and soul recovery,
where we're just allowingeveryone to be who they are.
We're not trying to change orfix any of it and it'll be
really fun.
Maybe next year we can gettogether and connect with what
we're in trying to change or fixany of it, and it'll be really
fun, like maybe next year we canget together and connect with
(29:42):
what were in our quadrants, whatwas on our vision board Until
next time, namaste, thank youfor listening and I hope that
