The most important relationship we have is with ourselves. Now that I’ve said that let’s look at romantic relationships in recovery. You’re move to recovery was done for you; I hope. Your partner is going to experience a lot of benefits from your hard work but that doesn’t mean they don’t have work to do as well. In this episode I am talking with Chantal Jauvin about her new book Love Without Martinis which is all about relationships after treatment.
In it she lays out the ASCENT approach which stands for
§ Assess your readiness to change.
§ Structure your time.
§ Create your community.
§ Engage in your life.
§ Nurture your spirituality.
§ Treasure your partnership.
Each one of these is for each individual to achieve on their own, this isn’t one sided because if your relationship is one sided something is wrong.

As my work suggests I am always looking to recover myself completely and my aim is to help others recover themselves. I see a client for a total of 4 sessions which is designed to launch self-directed lives and separate us from the constant draw of codependency. These starts with my doing a portrait of my client. The portrait is an intimate experience, these open a vocabulary to trauma and are healing. This process is not for everyone and if you are not ready, I will not work with you. It is important that you are ready to step into yourself and stop playing a victim cursed by things around you. If you are interested in working together reach out at https://www.martinjon.com/
