In this episode of Recovery with Root, we are sitting down with Sarah Laurel, the founder of Savage Sisters Recovery Inc. After recovering from substance use disorder Sarah wanted to offer resources to women like herself. What began organically slowly grew into a program that helped all humans through housing and street based outreach. Sarah uses her lived experiences to be of service to others and remain relatable to those still struggling. She uses her corporate background to lead the Savage team in a thoughtful, productive and sustainable manner.
Sarah shares more on her mission, and also the struggles she faces from public and political perception of harm reduction. To learn more about her cause, or to donate, please click here.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
