Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
This week I found myself reading through this old booklet from my collection. I picked this one up many years ago and there was a ton of hype behind the advice on offer here. I had never taken the time to dive into this book though until very recently. Although very short at about 32 pages, this book (or rather, booklet) is dense on detail. It was published back in 2002, and the tabletop roleplaying industry was quite different back then. It is interesting to go over this time capsule to see what advice has aged well and survived to this day and which stuff didn't fare so well. Tune in to hear my unvarnished opinion on the content within and to see if it still stands up as an essential game aid for GMs.
