God’s faithfulness isn’t distant—it’s personal, passionate, and steady through every generation. In this episode, we look at three moments in Scripture that reveal just how seriously He takes His promises.

John the Baptist’s cry—“Behold, the Lamb of God!”—wasn’t just excitement; it was the fulfillment of centuries of longing. Jesus’ clear words about His own betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection weren’t guesses but a roadmap He followed with love and resolve. And John 3:16 becomes more than a verse we’ve memorized, it becomes God’s personal promise spoken over you.

The story of redemption is not abstract. It’s God keeping His word with affection, with action, and with a commitment that cannot fail. Whether you’ve walked with Christ for years or are still wrestling with His invitation, His promises still stand, and His faithfulness reaches you today.

And amen.
Now we'll be in three differentplaces in the scripture tonight

(01:09):
, so you'll get some exerciseback there, amen.
And I'll start with.
I will be in John, chapter one,but I want you to keep this one
verse from Psalms, psalm 89.1,in mind, I will sing of the
mercies of the Lord forever.
With my mouth will I make knownmy faithfulness to all

(01:34):
generations, and that's what Iwant to do tonight Make known
the faithfulness of God to allgenerations.
That's not just a few, that'severy single solitary generation
, from the first one all the waydown to us tonight, all the way

(01:54):
down to everyone in this room, all the way down to everyone
listening around the world.
Make known the faithfulness ofGod to all generations.
God actually performs his word.
He truly performs his wordWithout fail.
He performs his covenants, heperforms his promises and he

(02:19):
performs it with a passion.
He's not lackadaisical about it, he's not half-hearted about it
, he's not grudging about it,but he is passionate about
performing what he says.
He is holy, he sees everythingthrough and he does it with
affection.
God is love, my friend, andaffection is love in action.

(02:45):
And so every time that Godperforms his promises, he
doesn't just say them, oh, hedoes say them, and hallelujah
for that.
But oh, every time he sayssomething, you start looking
forward to seeing how he's goingto bring it to pass, because he
always does.
And we're going to see that inthree different places in the

(03:06):
Scripture tonight.
And the first one, john, chapter 1.
And I'd like to start at verse29,.
If I could, hallelujah, john,chapter 1, verse 29.
The next day, john seeth Jesuscoming to him.
Oh, and just stop right there, john the Baptist, my friend.

(03:27):
The next day, john seeth Jesuscoming to him.
Just stop right there, john theBaptist, my friend.
I believe he's the last OldTestament prophet.
And earlier in this chapter, theGospel of John makes a
particular point of telling usthat John the Baptist was a man
sent from God.
God specifically sent John theBaptist.

(03:50):
He sent him to fulfill what weknow as Isaiah 40 today.
John had a particular thing todo.
God didn't just send him tosend him.
He had things to say and thingsto do.
He was a witness to Jesus.
Scripture tells us that as well.

(04:11):
He was a witness.
He pointed people to Jesus.
He said I'm not the Christ, I'mnot the Messiah, but he is
coming right after me.
He is standing among you rightnow, israel.
You don't know him, but he'samong you and he is greater than
I am.

(04:31):
He is more than I am.
He was before me.
He's the son of God, he's theMessiah, and I'm here to be a
voice crying in the wildernesspreparing the way.
God is faithful.
God had promised that.
He had promised that forgenerations, for generations.

(04:53):
I wonder what was going throughIsaiah's mind when he first
preached that.
I wonder what was going throughhis mind when he wrote it down.
He got it directly from God andI wonder the excitement, the
excitement that was in these men, the excitement that was in
John the Baptist, the excitementthey got a word from God, they

(05:15):
got a promise from God and he'sgoing to fulfill it.
He's going to do it.
Isaiah didn't see it with hiseyes in his lifetime but, bless
God, I believe in the spirit.
He saw down the line throughtime and through history to that
day when not only John theBaptist would come, but this

(05:37):
very day, here, the next day, john sees Jesus.
He's in the wilderness, he'sbaptizing, he's preaching, he's
fulfilling his ministry.
And one day he probably saw him, far off first, and he got
closer and he got closer and hegot closer and the out came from

(06:01):
John behold the Lamb of God.
And out came from John.
Behold the Lamb of God, beholdthe Lamb of God which taketh
away the sin of the world.
John saw Jesus.
Oh, that's a special day, myfriend, whenever you actually

(06:27):
see God beginning to fulfill apromise right in front of you.
Oh, and John had been a part ofit.
But now there is the Lamb of God.
There's the fulfillment walking, talking, living, breathing of
the Passover those Passoverlambs that were slain in old
Egypt and the blood that was putaround the door and that feast

(06:51):
which had been kept.
Here's the walking, talkingfulfillment of all of that and
all of the law.
Here he is and he's the lamb ofGod.
Oh, and he's here to dosomething.
He's here to take away the sinof the world.

(07:13):
Oh, it's only a few words.
Oh, what does it say?
What does it say?
What does it say?
Jesus is coming to completelycarry away every part of the
world's sin, the sin of theentire world, the sin of every

(07:36):
man, woman and child, the cursethat creation is under.
The sin is all here to be takenaway, and John can't help but
be a little excited.
There he is.
He's getting ready to take awaymy sin.

(07:57):
He's getting ready to take awayyour sin.
He's getting ready.
This is him.
I told you about him.
You know, you saw and you werebaptized with water, but this is
the one he's going to baptizeyou with fire.
This is the one who's going tobaptize you with the Holy Ghost.
This is the one who's going totake away your sin.
It's not me, it's him.

(08:18):
He's the one I've been tellingyou about and he's here and he's
here, and he's here telling youabout, and he's here and he's
here and he's here.
Do you hear the excitement inhis voice?
This is he of whom I said afterme, cometh a man, which is
preferred before me, for he wasbefore me and I knew him not,
but that he should be mademanifest to israel.

(08:40):
Therefore, I am to Israel.
Therefore, I am come baptizingwith water.
And John bare record said I sawthe Spirit.
How excited do you get when yousee God moving?
How excited do you get when youread these old testimonies?
See, this is an old testimony.
Now, what's your testimony?

(09:00):
This is John the Baptisttestimony.
This is John the Baptist.
What's yours?
He said I saw the Spiritdescending from heaven like a
dove, and it abode upon him.
It stayed upon him.
It didn't just come upon himand leave, it stayed.
The Holy Spirit stayed upon himand I knew him not, but he that

(09:25):
sent me to baptize his father.
The same said to me, the sameis he which baptizes with the
Holy Ghost.
And I saw and bear record thatthis is the Son of God.

(09:45):
This is Him.
All Israel has been waiting forgenerations with bated breath
for that moment.
The Son of God is here, thefaithfulness of God expressed.
God didn't lie to Jeremiah.

(10:06):
God didn't lie to Jeremiah.
God didn't lie to Isaiah.
God didn't lie to Ezekiel.
God didn't lie to Micah.
God didn't lie to Amos.
God didn't lie to Malachi.
God didn't lie to any of thesemen.
He followed through.
And this was just the beginning.
This was just the beginning.
See, jesus would go for aboutthree years ministering and

(10:31):
ministering and ministering.
And come on over to Luke withme for just a moment.
Oh rather, matthew, my friendMatthew, matthew, chapter 20,
verse 17.
A few years went by and nowJesus was getting ready to go to

(10:57):
Jerusalem for the final time.
He said Jesus, going up toJerusalem, took the 12 disciples
apart.
This was a close meeting.
He took them apart in the waywhile they were walking there,
and he said to them Behold, lookat this.

(11:17):
Behold, we go up to Jerusalemand the Son of man shall be
betrayed unto the chief priestsand unto the scribes, and they
shall condemn him to death andshall deliver him to the
Gentiles to mock and to scourge, and shall crucify him.

(11:39):
And on the third day he shallrise again.
See, jesus knew exactly whatwould happen and he spelled it
out clearly right here.
He was going to go to Jerusalem.
He would be betrayed, specifically into the hands of

(12:00):
the Jews, by Judas, to the chiefpriests, to the scribes.
They would have a trial.
After that trial, they wouldfalsely accuse him and they
would come to a false conclusion.
After that trial, they wouldsend him to Herod.
They would come to a falseconclusion.
After that trial, they wouldsend him to Herod.
Herod was a man who just wantedto.

(12:21):
He was a sensational sort ofman.
He just wanted to sort of seeif Jesus would do a miracle.
Then he sent him back and then, eventually, he went to Pilate,
delivered to the Gentiles, romespecifically.
And what would the Gentiles do?
They would mock him, they wouldscourge him and they would

(12:43):
crucify him.
But on the third day, hallelujah, he shall rise again.
He shall rise again.
My friends, this is God'sfaithfulness, god's faithful to

(13:04):
himself and God's faithful tohis church.
And, my friend, god is faithfulto the lost.
If you're listening to this andyou're lost tonight, god is
faithful to you.
God made a promise throughJesus that for Jew and Gentile

(13:26):
alike, he was going to take awaythe sin of the whole world, and
that includes yours.
This is how it was to be done.
See, jesus did not go toJerusalem dragging his feet.
He didn't go sort of grumblingon the inside about what he had
to do.
It was hard enough.

(13:48):
I mean, we see, garden ofGethsemane.
Jesus himself wept.
And Jesus said oh Father, ifit's possible, let this cup be
taken from me.
He knew what was about to happen.
He knew that the Lamb of Godhad to shed his blood, just like

(14:12):
all those Passover lambs, justlike all the bulls and the rams
and the goats and the turtledoves.
Under the law, blood, blood, blood, blood.
Why?
There can be no remission ofsin without blood.
There can be no forgiving ofsin without blood.

(14:32):
Sin demands a price, and thatprice is death.
Now, what God was doing wasproviding his own lamb.
What God was doing wasproviding his own blood.
You see, my friend, someone'sblood will answer for your sin.

(14:53):
Someone's blood is going toanswer for it.
Someone's death is going toanswer for it, someone's
destruction is going to answerfor it, and it's the will of God
for you tonight that it be theblood of Jesus.
It's the will of God for youparticularly that the blood that

(15:16):
Jesus, god for you, particularly that the blood that
Jesus shed for you shouldanswer for your sin and he'd be
faithful and just to forgive you.
See, god's the only one who canreally forgive and forget.
He forgives you and it's likeyour sin never happened.
He forgives you and he casts's,like your sin never happened.

(15:37):
He forgives you and he casts itinto the depths of the sea.
He forgives you and heseparates it from you as far as
east is from the west.
This is how he did it.
Oh, the Son of man would bebetrayed.
The Son of man would berejected, largely by Israel.

(15:58):
I say largely because therewere a few who believed on him.
But it was a precious remnant,it was a precious small remnant.
The chief priests and thescribes, the Pharisees and the
Sadducees, they whipped thepeople up.
They said crucify him, crucifyhim, crucify him.
This all fulfilled Isaiah 53.
It's fulfilled so many of theprophets, even their lives,

(16:25):
their ministries, because thesemen.
They lived hard lives.
They had a preciousrelationship with God, but,
humanly, so many were rejected,so many were despised.
So many were rejected, so manywere despised, so many were even
executed.
And it all looked forward toJesus, because God himself would

(16:47):
experience that.
And then he would be turned overto Rome and he would die a
Roman death.
He would die on a cross.
He would die on a cross.
He would die an excruciatingpublic death.
He would die a humiliatingdeath.
He would die a death thatpeople considered a sport to
watch.

(17:11):
He would be mocked and scourgedand went through it.
He was scourged and wentthrough it.
He was scourged.
He was beaten, probably with awhip embedded with metal, glass
and rock, maybe even pottery, totear the skin.

(17:34):
And they would take his clothesfrom him and put a scarlet robe
on him to tear the skin.
And they would take his clothesfrom him and put a scarlet robe
on him and weave together acrown.
Thorns, thorns were long, longthings.
And they would bow the knee tohim, but not in faith.
They would bow the knee to himbut not in love.

(17:55):
They would bow the knee to himbut not in love.
They would bow the knee to himin mockery Saying yo, you're the
king of the Jews.
They would take a reed thatthey gave him and beat him with
it, and then they would assignhim a cross and he would bear it
all the way through the streets.

(18:16):
Sign him a cross, and he wouldbear it all the way through the
streets.
And, oh, when they crucified him, that wasn't the end, my friend
.
You see, your sin had to belaid on him.
Your sin had to be applied tohim.
The way you live your lifeapart from God, the way you

(18:41):
function, the way you act, theway you respond, entirely apart
from God, whether it's good oldAmerican morality, whether it's
political liberalism, whetherit's some form of religion that
you have, or whether it's justreal, explicit rough lust and

(19:06):
hatred and murder and lying anddeceiving, it all comes out
because you're apart from God.
And he had to take that sin andlay it on his son.
See, jesus didn't have any sinof his own, but he took yours
upon himself and they crucifiedhim there and there.

(19:32):
What must it have been like tosee the blood running to the
ground.
What must it have been like tosee him and to hear him?
This is God's passionatefulfillment of a promise.
This is God experiencing thingsthat God never experienced Sin

(19:58):
and separation and death.
All for you, because he lovesyou.
This is affection, this is lovein action.
This is God looking at you andsaying why should you die?
I don't want you to die, I wantyou to be born again, I want
you to be forgiven, I want youto be saved, I want you to be

(20:21):
with me.
I don't want to see you castinto hell, and so you can't do a
thing about it, but I can doeverything about it.
And so God stepped in, Saidthere had to be blood, so I'll
bring my own.
There had to be a death, and soI'll supply the life and the

(20:47):
death, and my only begotten sonis going to be the one to do it.
But I'm not going to stay dead.
I'm going to do this once, andI'm going to do this for you,
because, oh, jesus knew what itwas about.

(21:07):
Oh, god knew what it was about.
The Holy Ghost himself knewwhat it was about.
They knew the pain, they knewthe separation Three in one and
one in three.
This couldn't happen withoutaffecting the heart of the
Father.
This couldn't happen withoutaffecting the Holy Ghost.
This couldn't happen.
And so he died in his perfect, stainless blood.

(21:32):
See, it covered the cross thatday, but now it covers you.
Now it covers you Because Godwas pleased.
Hallelujah.
The Father was pleased,hallelujah.
The Holy Ghost was pleased.
Hallelujah when Jesus roseagain.

(21:56):
Oh, I don't think those angelswere speaking in a monotone
voice and very, very no, no, no,when that angel threw aside
that rock and I believe it wasthrown aside and he sat upon it
and all the soldiers were struck, fearful, around it, and those
ladies, hallelujah, they came tothe tomb.
I think that angel, I thinkthat angel was smiling.

(22:19):
I think that angel had a skipin his voice.
I think that angel, I don'tthink he was making fun of them
when he said why do you seek?
He's not here, he is risen,he's risen, he's risen, he's
never going to die again.
And because he lives, you live,he lives, you live.

(22:42):
See, my friend, he made anotherpromise.
He's returning again.
He made another promise.
One day you're going to standbefore him and I want you to
come back to the book of John, chapter 3, verse 16.
And maybe you haven't read itquite this way before, maybe

(23:04):
you've never heard it quite thisway before, but I want you to
hear this now.
This is God's faithful promiseto you, lost and dying sinner,
no matter what your sin lookslike.
I believe if you're listeningto this message, god is showing
you whether you're his orwhether you're not.

(23:27):
If you're not his, I want youto hear this in a certain way,
for God, so loved, put your namethere.
I want you to hear this in acertain way, for God, so loved,
put your name there, even readit aloud with me.
For God so loved you that hegave his only begotten son that

(23:54):
whosoever.
My friend, put your name rightthere.
You're part of this promise, even if you're not in Christ,
even if you're not God's, evenif you're not saved, even if
you're not spirit-filled, evenif you're yet in your sins, this
very moment, and under thewrath of God, and under the

(24:17):
wrath of God, and under themercy of God, and under the
forbearance of God and, yes, under the love of God, because
God is interrupting your lifewith a promise that you should
live and not die.
Oh, to go back to the oldPsalms, that you should live and
not die and declare the worksof the Lord.
That you should worship theFather in spirit and truth, that

(24:41):
you should receive him, thatyou should be under his blood,
that you should be filled withhis spirit, you that you
shouldn't spend another momentin your sins, you shouldn't
spend another moment under thewrath of God.
There is no reason for it.
That should you believe in him.

(25:02):
Whosoever believeth in himshould not perish but have
everlasting life, the gift ofGod.
For God sent not his Son intothe world to condemn the world.
No, that's not why he came.
Jesus even said well, you know,I don't judge anything, I get

(25:26):
it all from the Father.
Jesus didn't come to condemnthe world.
He didn't come to condemn theworld.
He didn't come to condemn you,but that you and put your name
in there one more time didn'tcome to condemn you, but that

(25:49):
you, through him, might be saved, saved from the wrath of God,
saved from the death that comesfrom sin, saved from the fires
of hell, as though there's areal hell, my friend.
But God didn't make it for menand women, he made it for Satan.

(26:13):
He made it for every angel thatfollows him, though we
understand there are going to befolks who go there, but if
you're listening to this tonight, god doesn't want you to be one
of them and again, put yourname.
He that believeth on him putyour name.

(26:35):
He that believeth on him, putyour name, is not condemned.
No man can condemn you.
No woman can condemn you, nospirit can condemn you.
God himself can't even condemnyou.
Why?
Because when he looks at you,he sees his son.
When he looks at you, he seesthe son.

(26:56):
When he looks at you, he seesthe blood.
It's a song we sing here hesees the blood.
When he looks at you, he seesthe blood.
So God, because he's faithful, cannot and will not condemn you.
He cannot and will not removethat blood from you.
He cannot and will not removethat blood from you.

(27:17):
He cannot and will not removehis spirit from you.
You know, oh, bless God.
Even in the New Testament itsays well, whenever we're
unfaithful, whenever a Christianis unfaithful, well, god can't
deny himself.
The New Testament tells usyou're sealed.
The New Testament tells us thatyou're in the hand of God.

(27:37):
The New Testament tells us thatGod cannot and will not forget
you.
And so why are people unsaved?
Do you realize that wheneverthe gospel goes forth, god wants
everybody who hears it to getsaved?
That's the heart of God.

(28:00):
So why doesn't it happen?
He that believeth not iscondemned already because he
hath not believed in the name ofthe only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation.
Light is come into the world.
John frequently calls Jesuslight.

(28:25):
Jesus comes into the world andmen love darkness.
They love life apart from God.
They love life in their sin.
They loved life in theirmorality, in their philosophy.
They loved the Jesus ofliberalism.
They loved the Jesus ofAmerican conservatism.
They loved some legalisticJesus.

(28:47):
They loved some other.
They loved some superhero Jesus.
They loved something else theyloved their drink.
They loved their drugs.
They loved their lying.
They loved their fornicating.
They loved their blaspheming.
They love something else theylove their drink.
They love their drugs.
They love their lying.
They love their fornicating.
They love their blaspheming.
They love their grudges andtheir murder.
And so when Jesus comes up tosuch a person, there's a refusal

(29:10):
that takes place.
See, they kind of look up youknow if you can humanize it a
little bit and you kind of lookup, say, oh well, let me go back
to this.
There's a refusal.
The only reason anybody isunsaved is this refusal.

(29:30):
Have not believed in lovedarkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil.
The deeds just keep coming outand once again, you prevail upon
the mercy of God, because Godis glorified because he's spoken
.
God is glorified because hegave his son.

(29:52):
God is glorified because hegave his promises.
God is glorified because hegave his son.
God is glorified because hegave his promises.
God is glorified because hegave his word but he refused it.
Aren't you glad that he is slowto anger?
Aren't you glad that he ismerciful?
Aren't you glad that he has aforbearance and a love that

(30:14):
pursues you?
But oh, my friends, those arethose who refuse.
What about you?
Tonight?
Our musicians will come forward.
Amen.
We'll have a time of invitationright here and we'll have a time
of invitation for you online aswell.
Hallelujah.
But it's really the sameinvitation.

(30:36):
If you want to be saved, callupon the name of Jesus.
If in your heart, in your soul, there's a yes coming out toward
the Lord, there's a yes and anamen coming out toward the Lord,
let that come out of your lipsand say Lord, save me.

(30:57):
Lord, save me, lord.
Wash my sin in the blood, covermy sin in the blood, make me
new, give me your Holy Spirit.
You're my Lord and my God andmy Savior.

(31:19):
Thank you, I love you.
Oh, my friend, whatever wordsyou use, let that faith come up
into some words and call uponthe name of Jesus tonight.
And if you need to do thattonight, right here in the house
, well, I just want you to comeforward while these people play

(31:43):
and if you're far away, talk tohim.
Maybe you've heard me say thismany times.
Talk to him just like he'sstanding right in front of you,
because he is Amen and we wantto hear about it.
If you're born again, we want tohear about it.
If you're saved, we want tohear about it.
We want to rejoice with you.
We want to hear the testimony.

(32:04):
We want to hear everything thatled up to it.
Hallelujah.
We want to hear about themoment that's encouraging for us
.
So don't be shy, don't thinkyou're a bother or a burden, but
share it with us.
We want to hear about it.
And especially if the Lord iscalling you to be here in person
, hallelujah.

(32:25):
Even if you've got to gohalfway around the world or some
of you I know who are listeningyou just need to drive up the
street.
But we want to meet you, wewant to see you and we want you
to know that you're welcome andencouraged to come and that we
look forward to seeing you inperson.
And thank you again for beinghere and for being there, and

(32:48):
may the Lord richly, richlybless us, amen.
Amen.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
