Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hello and welcome to
the Redeeming Love Bible
broadcast.
My name is Phil Duddy, evangelist with Grace Baptist
Tabernacle of King, northCarolina, really glad and
thankful to have you with me onthe program today.
As always, please do reach outto us at redeemingthelost at
iCloudcom.
We would love to hear from youthere, and today we are going to
start out with something that'svery, very simple and very,
(00:39):
very profound at the same time.
The Lord expresses himself inways that people can relate with
, ways that people canunderstand, ways that people can
interact with, and somethingthat, from our perspective, it's
like you can almost take it forgranted that we even have a
word of God.
(00:59):
We have a written word of Godand inside of this written Word
of God, we've got severalinstances when the Lord said
something, when the Lord spoke, when the Lord did something,
especially when Jesus, the Lord, took upon Himself flesh and
Jesus was walking among us andJesus was speaking and Jesus was
(01:21):
doing and Jesus was interactingwith people things that you can
almost take it for granted.
And yet it is the most profoundthing because we've got the
Lord Himself.
I am that, I am that I am, andhe is speaking with us.
The Holy is interacting with us.
(01:42):
The Almighty is interactingwith us.
The Omnipotent and theOmniscient is interacting with
us.
The almighty is interactingwith us.
The omnipotent and theomniscient is interacting with
us, three in one, one in threeFather, son and Holy Spirit.
And this God doesn't keep tohimself and this God doesn't
stay distant, but he interacts,he interacts, he interacts, he
(02:06):
interacts.
Throughout the Old Testamentwe've got several instances God
said, god said, god said, godsaid, and in Jesus we've got
kind of like the height of thatwhen the Lord took upon him a
body of flesh and he was born ofa virgin and he went through of
(02:26):
a virgin and he, you know, wentthrough a literal birth and he
had, you know, he was raised ina household and Scripture tells
us that he learned obedience.
Scripture tells us that he grew.
Scripture tells us that.
You know that.
You know, mary and Joseph hadother children and they
interacted with Jesus as well.
(02:46):
Jesus had what you might callhome life and he grew and he
grew and he grew and at the ageof 30, he went in the wilderness
, he went to John, he wasbaptized.
And that's when, you know, alot of people will say, that's
when the you know, people callit, the public ministry of Jesus
really began.
But we've got to look at that.
(03:07):
It's so easy to read over it,but it's so precious that the
Lord interacts and that the Lordinteracts in very, very
tangible, very, very simple, very, very simple, relatable
ways.
And that is a precious, precious thing.
And we're going to focus in ontwo sort of statements that the
(03:29):
Lord made about Himself in theScripture and statements that
express who he is.
And the first one's in John 14.
Jesus said I am the way, thetruth and the life.
No man cometh unto the Fatherbut by Me.
The second one is repeated inthe book of Revelation.
It's in chapter 1, chapter 21,and chapter 22.
(03:51):
And the Lord's saying ofhimself I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending.
And this, you know, when Godspeaks and when God does, it's
kind of hard for us to put itinto words, because it simply is
.
It simply is the Lord, simplyis.
(04:11):
He simply is the way, the truthand the life.
And it's a simple truth that noman cometh to the Father but by
me.
And that's Jesus speaking.
The Lord simply is Alpha andOmega, the beginning and the
ending.
And even those titles, thoseare letters in the Greek
alphabet, the first and thefinal letters in the Greek
(04:32):
alphabet.
That's God putting somethinginto relatable words.
That's God putting somethingthat His nature, who he is.
He existed before time, heexisted before creation, he
existed before space, he existedbefore all of these.
(04:52):
He just simply is.
And here's God wanting torelate to humanity, wanting to
relate to people, wanting torelate to people, whether those
people believe Him or whetherthey don't believe him, whether
they're Christians whetherthey're not Christians, whether
they love the Lord or whetherthey're antagonistic against the
Lord.
We've got God using a humanalphabet to put something of
(05:18):
himself into words that peoplecan possibly understand.
He's Alpha, he's Omega, he's thebeginning and the end.
He's.
You know, he was there at thebeginning.
And Book of Revelation,hallelujah, amen.
The Lord is there at the endtoo as well, and the Lord saw it
all.
The Lord sees it all.
The Lord knows it all.
(05:39):
He knows the beginning and heknows the end.
He's been to the beginning,he's been to the end and history
is just sort of playing out.
The end and history is justsort of playing out.
But he's putting himself, he'sputting his nature into a way
that people can possiblyunderstand it, putting himself
(05:59):
into a way that you know, bygrace and through faith.
You know, we mix the Word ofGod with faith and hallelujah
and amen, and especially withthe help of the Holy Ghost, help
of the Holy Spirit, inside he'sa.
You know, the Holy Ghost is acomforter, the Holy Ghost is a
counselor.
The Holy Ghost is, you know, the Lord himself, bringing us
(06:20):
into relationship with himself.
And we can know God through theword that he has given us,
through the specific word thathe has given us.
He gave it so that he wouldn'tyou know, so so that we would be
able to know him, so that wewould be able to hear him, so
(06:42):
that we would be able tointeract with him and know it's
him, and know what's going on,and so that he might draw us to
Himself.
Hallelujah and amen forsalvation, for forgiveness, for
healing, for eternal life.
And what is eternal life?
We look back at that in theScripture.
Eternal life is knowing theLord, is knowing the Father.
(07:05):
You know, hallelujah and amen, that's what eternal life is.
Eternal life isn't a headknowledge thing, it isn't a
performance thing, but no,eternal life is having an
intimate relationship andfellowship with the Lord himself
, with the Father, hallelujahand amen, by grace and through
(07:28):
faith, because the Father sentJesus and Jesus shed his blood
and Jesus died an atoning deathso that our sin would be washed
away, so that we would bepurified, so that we would go
from sinners to saints, so thatwe can go from being dead to
being alive, so that we could gofrom being enemies of God to
(07:50):
being friends of God.
And this is what the Lord'sdone, and that is a powerful,
powerful, powerful thing.
And the Lord's done that throughcommunication.
And then we have the indwellingHoly Ghost, we have the Holy
Spirit, and the Holy Spiritcommunicates and communicates
and communicates, and he pointsto everything that the Lord said
(08:11):
and he brings that to us.
And he brings that to us and hehelps us to apply that.
He even helps us to pray.
The Holy Ghost helps us to pray.
The Lord gives gifts.
The Lord gives gifts.
Hallelujah and amen.
The Lord interacts.
The Lord puts us together withother people.
He puts us together with otherpeople who have the same spirit,
(08:31):
who are washed in the sameblood, whose sins got forgiven,
the same way We've all believedon the same Jesus.
Jesus has brought us to theFather.
We have Jesus and we have theFather, and so we have
fellowship one with another, with other people, have
fellowship one with another, with other people, and it's a
precious thing because the Lordsimply has this desire in
(08:52):
Himself, in His nature, tocommunicate.
And that's a precious, preciousthing.
And the Lord's communicated.
You know, as I've said before onthe program, as I've said
before, kind of behind thepulpit in our church services,
the Lord has given a completeword in what we call the Holy
(09:13):
Bible.
He's given us exactly what hewanted to give us, not one word
more, not one word less thanwhat he wants to give us.
And it's a perfectly completerevelation word of God.
And he's given it to us so thatwe might know who he is.
And in doing so, the Lordreveals who we are.
(09:35):
And that's a precious, preciousthing because as the Lord
reveals who he is, we see oursin, we see the iniquity, we see
the wickedness, we see thedeceit in the human heart, we
see the fallenness in the humanheart.
And the Lord continues tocommunicate.
(09:57):
He continues to communicate, hecontinues to say you know, look
, you know, I see thatfallenness and you see that
fallenness.
I see that sin and you see thatsin and that sin's been against
me.
And yet I still love you and Iwant you to be with me.
I want you to be reconciled, Iwant you to be healed, I want
you to be redeemed, I want youto be born again.
(10:19):
And that is a precious, precious thing.
I keep on saying that wordprecious because it is.
It is that the Lord himself, theone who made us and the one who
loves us.
He talks and he interacts andhe has a word.
(10:46):
And that word is simply true.
That word is simply full ofgoodness, that word is simply
full of authority.
That word, it never changes, itnever diminishes.
The Lord doesn't add to it, theLord doesn't take away from it,
the Lord doesn't twist it, theLord doesn't change it.
But it's the same word to ustoday that it was to people in
(11:07):
the first century.
It's the same word to us todaythat it was to people in the
first century.
It's the same word to us todaythan it was to people 500 years
ago.
It's the same word to us todayand that it will be.
If the Lord gives anothergeneration, another two
generations, maybe another threegenerations, if the Lord gives
that, they will have the sameword and God will interact with
(11:29):
them the same way he interactswith us, and he'll be the same
God.
You see, that's such a bigdifference between the world and
between the demonic and betweenGod.
You know, false teachers andidols have been around for a
long time.
They were around in ancientdays and they're around in the
(11:50):
modern day.
And all of those false teachers, all of those idols, all of the
demonic stuff, you'll noticesomething about it In the modern
day, in America especially, they need subscribers, they need
believers, they need technology, they need electricity, they
(12:11):
need users, they need ad revenue, they need sales, they need
people to buy into this, theyneed people to support this,
they need people to talk aboutthis, they need people to tell
you know other people.
You know, hey, watch this.
Hey, you know, look at this.
Hey, go to this place.
Hey, you know, you know, buythis book.
You know, whatever the case maybe, but the false teacher and
(12:34):
the false idol is not successfuland is not effective without
human support buying into them, without people buying into them.
The support of the people propsthem up, into them.
The support of the people propsthem up, and that is not so
with God, a false teacher and afalse idol.
(12:55):
That idol has as much influence, as much authority, as much
success, if you will, as peoplegive into it.
People give into it.
If people stop believing, thenthe idol goes away.
It dies out.
If people stop subscribing, then the false teacher dies out.
The false teacher goes away.
(13:15):
If people stop buying into it,stop using, stop going there,
stop supporting it, whatever thecase may be, however they
support it, then it sort ofceases and it sort of dies off
and it sort of goes away.
And that is not so with God.
God communicates with us.
(13:37):
God gave us his word.
God came down.
You know, jesus Christ camedown.
Hallelujah and amen.
The Holy Ghost is sent and theHoly Ghost is ministering today.
The Holy Ghost is ministeringas you're listening to this
today.
You know, bless God and amen.
That's to his glory.
But the Lord is communicatingwith you today.
The Lord is communicating withother people today.
(13:57):
The Lord is communicating withthe world at large today.
And guess what?
God is complete in who he is.
God is whole in who he is.
And God, you know, he surewants you to believe him.
He sure wants you to be saved,he sure wants you to be born
again.
(14:17):
He sure wants you to be filledwith the Holy Ghost.
He sure wants you to haveeternal life.
He wants you to have the fruitsof the Holy Ghost bearing out
in your life.
He wants you to have the HolyGhost joy, the Holy Ghost peace,
the Holy Ghost temperance, theHoly Ghost wisdom.
All of that bearing out, bearing out, the Holy Ghost
(14:38):
wisdom, all of that bearing out, bearing out, bearing out and
abounding in your life.
That's his desire for you andat the same time he I mean he
loves you.
He is love and he loves youpassionately.
So he loves you, he loves you,he loves you.
At the same time, he's notpropped up by you.
He's not propped up by you.
(15:01):
If there was not a single soulwho believed God, that wouldn't
diminish him.
If there were not a single soulthat believed Jesus, it
wouldn't diminish who he is.
It wouldn't diminish what he'sdone.
It wouldn't diminish his life.
It wouldn't diminish hisauthority.
It wouldn't diminish hisinfluence.
(15:22):
It wouldn't diminish his mercy, would not diminish his grace,
would not diminish his justice, would not diminish in any way
who he is.
You see, the Lord is not an idolthat he needs to be propped up.
You see, the Lord is not anidol that he needs to be propped
up.
The Lord is not a false teacherin that he needs to bring the
(15:43):
crowds.
He needs the support of thecrowd, he needs the adulation of
the crowd, he needs the worshipof the crowd.
That's not him.
He doesn't need the money ofthe crowd, he doesn't need the
support of the crowd, he doesn'tneed the endorsement of the
crowd, he doesn't need thecrowdment of the crowd, he
doesn't need the crowd kind ofbehind him.
No, the Lord is complete in whohe is and you know, bless God,
(16:07):
you know the Lord, you know that, hypothetical, if there were
not a single soul, well, blessGod, there are souls who believe
on the Lord, there are soulswho are born again, there are
souls who love the Lord, jesusChrist.
There are souls who love theFather, there are souls who love
the Holy Ghost.
There are, and that is ablessed, blessed thing, because
(16:31):
God has brought all of thosepeople, everyone who believes on
him, god has brought us into aprecious, precious, precious
relationship.
That's been going on for a longtime, you know, and there's a
completion there.
There's a completion there tothe point that you know the
(16:51):
church is called the bride ofChrist and that is a completion
and that's a blessed thing.
It's amazing to consider thatJesus Christ himself, after he
was resurrected, he kept thescars, he kept the holes, he
(17:11):
kept where the nails pierced him, he kept where the spear
pierced him and his disciples, especially Thomas, who was
called Didymus, he could seethat and interact with him and
touch.
You know, jesus could betouched.
Jesus ate with people.
After he was risen again.
(17:32):
You know they could touch him, they could see him, they could
hear him, they could talk withhim.
He could talk with them, theycould eat together, they could
relate together.
And Jesus wasn't that way.
But the Lord interacted and theLord took on his flesh and the
(17:52):
Lord kept that.
And we see in the book ofRevelation, amen, that the Lord
still has a resurrected body andthat's an amazing, amazing,
amazing thing that speaks to thedepth and the passion that the
Lord has for relationship, thatthe Lord has for coming to the
world, that he created, that theLord has for reconciling people
(18:14):
to Himself, that the Lord hasfor that, that he be known by
you.
And so you know you could say Imean the Lord didn't change in
his nature, the Lord didn'tchange in his holiness.
The Lord didn't compromise, hisholiness didn't compromise the
truth, but the Lord movedhimself in a way that he had
(18:35):
never done before.
When the Lord Jesus took onflesh, he moved himself in a way
that he had never done before.
When the Lord Jesus took onflesh, he moved himself in a way
that he had never done before.
When the Lord Jesus died, andhe moved himself in a way that
he had never done before when, hallelujah and amen, the Lord
was risen up from the dead.
And so the Lord speaks and theLord communicates, and the Lord
has a desire that you hear him.
(18:56):
The Lord has a desire that youhear him.
The Lord has a desire that youbelieve him.
The Lord has a desire if you'relistening to this and you're in
your sin, the Lord has a desirethat you be saved from under
his wrath, because if you areyet in your sins, you are yet
under his wrath.
And the Lord has a desire thatyou be saved from that wrath,
(19:17):
that your sin be washed away, that your sin be, you know, just
washed away, completely, washedaway, totally, washed away,
utterly.
That you be as far from yoursin as the East is from the West
, and that you be born again andfilled with the Holy Ghost and
receive eternal life.
And that eternal life isknowing God, that eternal life
(19:40):
is walking with Him, thateternal life is receiving from
Him, that eternal life is havinga relationship with Him, that
eternal life is a precious thingand that's what he wants you to
have.
He doesn't want you to be castinto hell.
He doesn't want to have to castyou into hell.
Matter of fact, the only waythat you will be cast into hell
is if you ignore Jesus, if youpush Jesus off, if you reject
(20:04):
Jesus, if you fight.
You know, spend your whole lifefighting against him.
But may you believe him todayand may you submit to him today,
may you yield to him today, asyou know, and may you be born
again.
You know and church.
May you be encouraged by this.
I hope it's been encouragementto you.
