of building numerous creativebrands from the ground up, I'm

(00:27):
ready to get real about whatactually goes on behind the
scenes of building your very ownempire feel you're opening up
brand new mindset for me. And Ireally want that for you too,
because honestly, I am just soover society's definition of
what it means to live asuccessful life. So together, we
are going to create and navigatea version of success that works

(00:47):
for you. Together, we canredefine fabulous
Hello, hello. Welcome to anotherepisode of redefining fabulous
so today, I don't know if you'vebeen telling my voice. But today
is juicy. Today a super passionfilled because recently I was
listening to a podcast whiledriving to the city. So I am in
the suburbs of Chicago. And I'mdriving to the city though it's

(01:11):
30 miles can take two hours.
Sometimes it's awful.
But if you guys don't know Judyholler, you need to look her up
in it. She is just, she's afreaking amazing human. If I
ever got to meet her in reallife, I would probably literally
lose my shit. But So Judy Hallerhas a podcast called Yes. And,

(01:31):
and she a is just an incrediblehuman but be her podcast is just
so freakin inspiring. And alsoso passionate, filled. And, you
know, I listened to an episoderecently that really just sort
of lit a fire in me, becauseI've been having these
conversations with a lot of youguys lately. And so I wanted to

(01:53):
kind of bring this to thepodcast, and kind of put it out
there, because I think that youwill very much so relate to
this. Okay, so today we aregoing to be talking about
metrics that are not worth yourtime, or mental energy. Okay, so
we've got five metrics that Iwant you guys to opt out of.

(02:13):
Okay, I want you guys to stopworrying about these metrics,
because they do not matter.
Okay, so metric number one, yoursocial media follower count.
Okay. Now, I know that this isprobably an unpopular opinion.
And it usually is when I'mtalking with you in in real
life, like in person in coachingcalls, and I get so much

(02:35):
pushback from this, well, I justneed to get to 5000 followers, I
just need to get to 10,000. Now,let me backtrack and say that
having a goal is great, okay, but having an obsession about a
number is not, okay, if you'regonna obsess about numbers, this
is not the number to obsessabout, okay? You also need to be

(02:56):
aware that people with millionsof followers are not the same as
you, okay, we are all verydifferent people in very
different industries. And a lotof people with large amounts of
following have purchased them, okay. Now, I'm not saying
everyone, I'm not throwinganybody under the bus. Like

(03:17):
that's not what I'm here for.
But I want you to just recognizethat someone's follower count is
not the full story, you have noidea what it took to get to that
number. And here's the otherkicker, when they got to that
number, what changed? Reallywhat changed? Okay, because you

(03:39):
also have to understand thatwhen you're looking at a
follower account number, thenumber you should be more
worried about, is the conversionrate of those followers. Are
those followers clicking on yourwebsite? Are those followers
turning in to clients? are yougenerating any revenue from

(03:59):
those followers? You could havea million followers and they're
the wrong followers, the wrongcommunity and you're not making
a dime. Now what the hell didyou waste all your time worrying
about your follower count? Okay, and guess what, no matter what
platform you're on, whatevernumber you have as a goal. When

(04:21):
you get there, it won't beenough. It will never be enough
and that obsession rabbit holeis just not worth it. You guys
just trust me on this. Therabbit hole is not worth it.
Okay, think about where yourbusiness and your life okay
could be if you had spent all ofthat time, but you were worrying

(04:43):
about your follower account.
What would your life be like ifyou had spent all that time
actually focusing on revenuegenerating activities? Okay, I
say this all the time. I know Iam like a robot saying this a
million times. Okay, but socialMedia is not a marketing plan.
Social media is a great tool. Itis a great tool, but it is not a

(05:04):
marketing plan. Okay, thestrategy behind social media is
to connect with followers, andto guide them to your home to
your website to your controlledspace, doing work, that you
actually feel inspired by theactually impacts the people
around you will have way moreimpact on the growth of your

(05:27):
business than the growth of yourfollower count. Now, metric
number two virality Okay, everybody wants to go viral,
right? Everybody, we live inthis space? Where if you are
posting reels that don't goviral? Who the fuck are you? Why
are you even fucking here?

(05:48):
Right? Why? Why are we soobsessed with going viral? Why
is that such a thing? Why do weneed social media to tell us
that we're worthy that ourcontent is worthy that we're
that who we are, is worthseeing? Why are we letting a
social media platform decidethat for us? Okay, so algorithms

(06:10):
are a thing. And you know, there's been a lot of meta
updates, that I've got a lot ofmixed feelings on that I'm not
jumping into yet, because I wantto know the full story first.
But if you're gonna charge me tohave a little blue check, and to
verify me,now I'm allowing youto decide if I'm worthy. You're,

(06:33):
I'm letting you decide howsuccessful I am, what it looks
like, who I am, you don't get todecide that for me. Nobody gets
to decide that for you know, ifyou have content that you put
out there, and it does go viral,I am not knocking you down,
like, girl. Get on with yourdamn self with all of your viral

(06:56):
videos. But I want you to thinkabout why they're viral. Is
there information that peopleneed? Is there a special feeling
that you are evoking with them?
Okay, so for me, for reals, mybest converting reels. And
notice how I'm saying my bestconverting and not just like, my
most viral,if I want to put it in viral

(07:18):
terms, my most viral reels arethe ones that serve a purpose.
Okay, my most viral reels arebehind the scenes. They when I'm
showing what you see, at a photoshoot from your phone, like what
you see, and then throwing in abunch of the final images, those
are by far my most viral reels.

(07:40):
And guess what? They'repurposeful, they're strategic. I
want people to I want to evokethat feeling of like, oh my God,
I need that that before andafter I need that in my life.
And guess what? Those reelsconvert, I don't give a shit. If
they have 1000 views or 10,000views or 100,000 views. I know

(08:01):
that strategically, they areconverting customers. For me,
they are generating revenue.
Okay. So once again, worry lessabout how many likes or comments
or shares worry less about allof that, or less about that and
more about what it is doing foryour business? isn't growing,
your business is growing yourteam? Is it growing your

(08:21):
clientele, is it generating yourevenue? Because if it's not
making you money, get the fuckout of there. Don't spend all
your time there. I'm gonna sayno spend any time there but
like, that should not be yourpriority. Okay, so metric number
three, your team size, the sizeof your company. Okay. Now, this

(08:42):
was something that was a part ofJudy hollers episode and it just
really hit home for me. BecauseI am in a current stage, or
season of building a team. And,you know, in a, in my past life
in my wedding empire, past life,I had a team. I had a great

(09:02):
team, but I was not happy, likelooking back back then. Oh, I
thought I had it all I hadthought ahead and made you know,
I hit that seven figure mark andthought, Whoa, I'm successful.
And then I lost it. I lost it.
Like, just in a heartbeat. Ilost it. Okay. And I spent two

(09:25):
years trying to save that Butlooking back, I learned so
freaking much from that season.
And one of the things I learnedin that season was that I am
just not cut out to be like aI don't want to say a boss
because bitch I am my boss. ButI am not cut out to be the boss
of other people. I'm not cut outto be like, manager

(09:48):
micromanagement material. Like Ihate it. Like, I never got to do
the things that I needed to dobecause I was constantly
worrying about what someone elsewas doing.
Okay, so, you know, of course, alot of us solopreneurs out
there. We like to controlthings, right? We're probably

(10:09):
solopreneurs for a reason, because we can control all of
the narrative. But the realityis it is not sustainable, to
continue to grow horizontallyand vertically by yourself.
Okay? So what I'm doing thistime around, is I'm building a
collaborative team. Okay, sowhat that means is, my teammates

(10:30):
all have other jobs, or theyhave their own businesses, but
they are all strategicallychosen, because they niched down
into something so specific, thatI know that I can trust them
with my life in that sectionwith with my business, I can
trust them to carefully handleand help me grow that section of

(10:53):
my business. Now, what I want tosay about this is, am I excited
to now be able to say, you know,I have a core team of five
people? Yeah, man, it feelsgood. It feels good to finally
be in a girl space again, afterspending so many years in PTSD
of like, waiting for the shoe todrop, like having it all and

(11:13):
losing it like I am. That'ssomething I struggle with every
day, but this time around. I'mnot the boss of people. I'm a
collaborative teammate. I am ina group of people who share a
common vision moving forward whoshare a common passion of
helping women entrepreneurs.
This is a totally differentspace. Okay, so yes, while I am

(11:36):
excited to say I have a team offive, I could also be like,
Well, I only have five people.
So like, only, like, it's justfive of us. What kind of
mentality is that? Okay, right.
That is basically making itlike, setting myself up to feel
like shit. Because I'm basicallysaying that five people isn't
really that great. Like, it's,it's, it's just five of us know

(11:59):
what that man, I got a team offive, but we are taking over the
world, we are taking themarketing, agency studio,
whatever we are taking life bystorm, because we are choosing
to do so collaboratively. Okay.
So the moral of the story hereis stop worrying about how many

(12:19):
employees you have. If it's justyou, girl, get on with your damn
self good for you. What ifyou're looking to scale and you
want to only add one person goodfor you? Don't think of it as
just one person because like, only having one employee is not
that great. Celebrate the smallwins. Celebrate every goddamn
win. Like you just ran a goddamnmarathon. Okay. Now, metric

(12:42):
number four, the six or sevenfigure mark. Okay, now, like I
mentioned, I hit that sevenfigure mark back in 2015.
And, you know, leading up tothat, that was everything. That
was the goal. That was we weregonna be so successful. If we

(13:04):
just hit that six or seven, figure mark.
And guess what? We hit it. Andthen it was like, Yeah, we hit
it. And then it was like, Okay, now what? Right, then it's never
enough, then you're like, well, maybe we can hit 1.5. Or you
know, all the things. It's neverenough. Okay. But the more

(13:24):
important thing is that nothingchanged in the business. That
number. If anything, there waseven more loss of clarity about
what we were doing. It was evenless alignment, because we got
there. And it didn't feel likepuppies and rainbows. It didn't
feel like this story, we cookedup in our heads about how

(13:45):
amazing it would be to hit thatnumber because it just totally
changed things for business. Itdidn't feel like that. It became
a destination. And when we gotthere, we realized that we
didn't really like pay attentionto the details along the way. We
were so obsessed with hittingthat number that we forgot about
all of the other parts. Weforgot about how we got there.

(14:08):
Now I'm not saying not to makemonetary goals, that's
absolutely important. monetarygoals are, you know, a big part
of how you plan and scale yourbusiness. I'm not saying that
money is not a goal. What I'msaying is society puts the six
and seven figure mark on such afreaking pedestal, that the

(14:28):
majority of us are back herefeeling less them. Because it's
really hard to get to thatnumber. It takes a lot of work.
It takes a lot of effort. Sojust be mindful that when you
are using your monetary numbersas goals. They should be goals.
That's it. There should be noobsession. There should be no

(14:48):
obsession with hitting a six orseven mark number. Stop
stressing about it stopobsessing over it. If you hit it
girl, pop that champagne andcelebrate, but stop it
focusing on it because you'remissing out on all of the other
lessons along the way. Allright, last and final metric
number five, is worrying aboutanother person's metrics. Okay?

(15:13):
This goes with all of the onesthat we just talked about, stop
worrying about anybody else'sfollower count, stop worrying
about anybody else's viralitystop worrying about the size of
the company of someone else andstop worrying about the fact
that they hit six or sevenfigure mark, stop worrying about
anybody else's metrics. Becausethe reality of that metric, or

(15:37):
obsessing about that metric isthat you know nothing about that
metric. Okay? So if so and soover here, just hit the $1
million mark on her revenue, andshe's celebrating the shit out
of it, girl, go her. But guesswhat her expenses might have
been?
She might have had $950,000 ofexpenses. So she might be

(16:01):
celebrating that she had thatshe just hit a $1 million
revenue, which is great.
Celebrate the shit out of that.
But my point is that you don'tknow the rest of the story. You
don't know what that actuallylooked like, after the expenses.
Okay, so stop worrying about it.
So you don't know that justbecause that they had a million

(16:21):
views on their reel that theyposted yesterday? You don't know
that, that that real? Did that 1million people. Bring them any
revenue? Can they continue togrow their business than just
that real going viral? Okay, their team size? Do you know if
their team size is employees? Doyou know if they have benefits?

(16:45):
Do you know if they haveinsurance? Do you know how many
hours they have to work? Do youknow if they're all remote? Do
you know if they're contractorsor employees? You don't know?
That's my point. You don't know.
You just don't know. Okay. So asJudy Haller said, keep your eyes
on your own goddamn paper. Stayfocused on you. Okay, so focus

(17:10):
on you and what you are doingand more importantly, the impact
that you are making. Okay, ifyou have a million followers,
will they miss you? I don'tknow. But I also don't care.
Okay. Judy reminded me to thinkabout this. Who will be the
people with me? When I get whereI'm going, Okay, who is going to

(17:35):
be with me when I get where I'mgoing? Because those people are
worthy of my attention. Why?
Well my way more than these 1million people I don't even
freaking know. So moral of theentire frickin story. Okay, the
entire episode.

(17:57):
You and only you decide whatsuccess looks like for you. No
one else. No, no socialplatform. No. No family member,
no friend, no one but youdecides what success looks like
for you. So go on out today withyour head held high and do the

(18:22):
damn thing. All right, baby. Ihope you really enjoyed today's
conversation. I'm super curiousto know what your biggest
takeaway was from today. So goahead and share this episode on
social media. Make sure you tagme at this way to fabulous and
let me know what you connectedwith. What did you learn from
the episode and what action itemare you going to take today?

(18:44):
