Joanna (Goldie Hawn) is a wealthy and pretentious woman who lives on a yacht. She hires Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russell) to build a shoe closet, dislikes his craftsmanship, and throws his tools overboard, refusing to pay him.
Karma strikes later that night when Joanna goes overboard, then washing ashore, now with amnesia. Dean sees this as an opportunity to recoup his lost wages and tools, and claims Joanna as his wife Annie.
