#068 Ever wondered if starting a podcast is your ticket to passive income? Today, I share my personal journey through the ups and downs of hosting Rehab Rebels. Despite the challenges and the realization that podcasting isn't a quick path to financial freedom, the past two and a half years have been an incredible ride filled with growth and learning. With nearly a thousand downloads in the last month, our community continues to thrive, thanks to listeners and guests who bring diverse perspectives on alternative career paths. As I step back to recharge, it's not goodbye forever but a pause to reflect and recalibrate.

Through this heartfelt update, I express immense gratitude for everyone who has been a part of this journey. I've learned that having a digital presence and marketing strategy is crucial, something I didn't have when embarking on this podcast adventure. Nevertheless, the experience of connecting with fascinating individuals has been invaluable. While I'm taking an indefinite break, I remain hopeful for what's next and wish each of you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous 2025. Keep an eye out for future updates, and thank you for being part of the Rehab Rebels family!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to another Rehab Rebels episode.
This episode is going to beshort and sweet.
I've been doing a lot ofthinking and have decided to
take a break from Rehab Rebels,so throughout the holidays
there's not going to be any newposts, and in the new year I
don't have an actual date tocome back to Rehab Rebels.

(00:23):
So I am really just taking abreak from everything and just
going to kind of focus on me andmy life.
And what has caused all this isjust feeling exhausted and
tired from investing time andmoney in something that's not
providing the returns that Ianticipated or planned, and so I

(00:46):
just decided to take a pausefrom it.
Does this mean Rehab Rebels isdone forever?
Not necessarily.
So we'll share a few things thatI've learned from this
experience.
First off, thanks to everybodywho's been listening and all the
guests that have come on.
Everybody's been awesome andreally kind of the

(01:09):
non-traditional alternativecareer path community.
Everybody's pretty great andhelpful, so that's been really
great to be a part of andnetwork and meet a lot of unique
individuals, and thank you tothe listeners.
We have been growingconsistently and actually are
getting like some of the highestdownloads we've had in like

(01:29):
ever Just the last 30 days therewas 976 downloads and, yeah,
thank you guys for listening.
I really hope that theinformation that is being shared
is valuable.
The information that is beingshared is valuable.
So what I've learned from thisreally the biggest thing is the

(01:58):
odds of just starting a podcastand generating passive income is
like very low.
Honestly, a lot of what podcastsare used for nowadays are for
if you already have anestablished business and you
have a digital presence into thepodcast episodes and you know
sharing bits of information, keynuggets over episodes and, of

(02:40):
course, likely have like theirfull courses or you know
coaching services and stuff tooffer to direct people back to.
And that's largely whatpodcasts are used for.
That I've seen in the industry.
So for me, I didn't have any ofthat established at all.
I was like, man, I'm going tostart this podcast and get these
conversations going and justreally try to create some

(03:02):
passive income streams on theside and really haven't honestly
had very much luck with it and,to be fair, I also full
disclosure don't have abackground in like business or
marketing and a lot of online.
Anything is marketing, which is, you know, maybe surprising to
some, maybe obvious to others, but that is what a lot of online

(03:25):
businesses are about.
So if that's not your cup oftea or not what you're about,
then may not be the rightdirection to go if you're
thinking of, you know, trying todo an online business.
But yeah, we've been doing thisfor about two and a half years
and it's just been great.
I wanted to record this and,you know, give a little
something to you guys and notjust ghost you and, um, you know

(03:50):
, leave something here to notleave you hanging.
So, um, yeah, not sure wherethe future of Rehab Rebels is is
going to go, but I'm definitelytaking a break.
I hope you all have some greattimes over the holidays, safe
times over the holidays and ahappy new year and 2025.

(04:11):
Take care.
