Reigning In Light, Interruptions
(00:30):
Interruptions
So we find ourselves established with a daily routine, and one that mostly works.
The routine, even when usually predictable, has healthy components, and we're doing just fine with it all.
(00:52):
Throughout our day we're learning to take breaks, we're making room for our hobbies,
we're utilizing prayer and meditation, and they've now become a habit.
We no longer transition from one thing to the next without taking a moment to breathe.
We've learned the power of intentional and true nasal breathing, the breathing in and a long soothing mouth breath out.
(01:21):
Through this sort of breathing our mind is calmed, our body is relaxed, and our spirit is ignited.
We are reminded to give thanks on every occurrence, no matter how careful and cautious we are,
no matter how righteous we are, no matter how steadfast we are, no matter how patient we've become,
(01:48):
no matter how humble we've grown to be, no matter how generous we are, no matter how cooperative we are.
Life happens, and life interruptions will occur.
Interruptions can feel like an intrusion, like an invasion, it's a disturbance, it's a disturbance of our attempt at peace.
(02:16):
Interruptions can stop us, they can hinder us, so, and just the same as with all things we prepare to grow.
We prepare to grow through them, interruptions that we think of could be a phone call, it could be a message on another device.
Interruptions can be someone crossing our path, interruptions can be someone talking over us while we're in mid conversation.
(02:46):
These interruptions we can consider as light, these may only prove to sum up to an annoyance or a nuisance.
The heavy interruptions of life could be heartbreak, loss of a loved one, including a pet, could be war, criminal activity, property loss and damage,
(03:12):
a natural disaster, discrimination by any of the isms, that's the sexism, racism, ageism, and so on.
Illnesses, injuries, accidents, these are all just some of the heavy interruptions.
Some interruptions can be devastating and even painful, and it may even seem as though there is no way out, and eventually we get through them,
(03:40):
and we may coast for a while, and then another one may come.
In this life there's always something, if it ain't this, it will be that.
For all of this we begin to say or believe, and this too shall pass.
And whatever will be will be, and we will be better for it.
(04:05):
Interruptions can be large or small, they can be short or long.
Interruptions can expose us to high levels of stress, interruptions can leave us exhausted,
interruptions can leave us filled with anxiety.
Not all interruptions are trouble, some are just what we need, though they come at an unexpected time.
(04:32):
Because we've been practicing our breathing, this is no longer an interruption.
Deep breaths in, slow breaths out, breathing in this way soothes ourselves and helps us to process interruptions.
Reminders, it is not about the hows or whys, it is about the whats.
(04:58):
What now, and the meaning here, is time to problem solve or time to accept.
Deep breaths in, slow breaths out, whatever we do we must keep going.
And certainly with breaks in between and just like this one, to breathe or to catch our breath.
(05:20):
Deep breaths in, slow breaths out, there could come an interruption that is breathtaking and therefore takes our breath away.
This may feel good and still we must take time to breathe and so that we're able to take it all in.
So an interruption is pretty much all that is unexpected and occurring at a random or seemingly in opportune time.
(05:49):
Deep breaths in, slow breaths out, and in hopes of us restoring balance we're needed and becoming grounded if needed.
If we're strongly rooted, the negative interruptions may not have such a lasting or deep impact.
Interruptions can attempt to take away our focus and just as we may have gained the right momentum to complete anything that we've been working on or just the right momentum to keep us moving.
(06:23):
An interruption might not seem so bad but when we consider the average time that it takes to refocus then this may be the trouble and especially if we only have a certain amount of time for any particular project.
A complete refocus of our attention can take about 20 minutes on average.
(06:45):
Interruptions so many to talk about and while on our journey there is always going to be so much to talk about.
What if right here and right now we remember all of the beauty within silence?
When we see the growth through interruptions we may see the patience or even feel the patience that we can learn through.
(07:07):
If we can learn to live with an abundance of patience and allow it to guide us gracefully we will certainly move closer to our purpose.
So maybe this is what life is all about.
Patience through interruptions.
This is riding out a storm while bracing ourselves in without fear.
(07:29):
It's breathing.
It's taking a moment to breathe before we lose our cool.
It's not sweating the little things.
It is practicing forgiveness and realizing that everyone including ourselves makes mistakes.
It is accepting losses and just as much as wins.
(07:51):
An interruption is nothing more than an experience and just the same as everything else that we'll continue to encounter.
To live is to experience and to experience is to grow.
Grow through the interruptions.
Grow well, Reigning In Light.
