(00:56):
So welcome everyone to thismonth's podcast and this week's
podcast, this month's Reikishare.
Tonight we're talking aboutpolarization and the fact that
we're not actually as far apartas we think.
Before we get started though, Ido wanna let you know that
(01:16):
things are coming together forour Kenya trip February 19th to
28th.
I just got the first bit ofpricing today, and there's a
couple of line items missing, but we're getting very close to
being able to provide that.
If you are interested in joiningus in Kenya, February 19th to
(01:38):
28th, please reach out and letme know.
I've got a list, a short list ofthe people who have said they're
interested and we can take, itlooked like eight, but it may be
back down to six people with us.
And I will let the people on theshort list know first about the
(02:00):
opportunity.
And then I'll put if the spotsaren't filled I'll put it out to
our general community.
I wanted to let you know that Ido have a Karuna Reiki class
coming up this month over fourevenings or mornings in
Australia or Asia.
Also in November we've got ouranimal communication course, and
(02:24):
I don't teach that often, but Ido have a level one and two
class on a weekend, November22nd and 23rd, an animal
communication level threeprofessional practitioner
course, November 24th and 25th.
Online over two evenings, andthen a masterclass.
(02:44):
Online over three evenings, justafter Thanksgiving.
December 1st to third.
We will have a weekendhealthcare Reiki course, Tracy
and I online February 7th andeighth.
February is also when we will goto Kenya and I also have a full
lineup of classes level one andtwo Masters Animal One and two
(03:09):
and Masters in January.
So I would love to have you, join us for that.
Look for some Reiki mentoringcourses coming out in the
spring, likely in March afterwe're back from Kenya.
And yeah, there's just an awfullot of really interesting and
(03:31):
fun things happening.
But tonight I wanted to talkabout the fact that talk about
polarization and the fact thatwe're not.
As far apart as we think.
There seems to be a lot ofnoise, a lot of talk going on
about, the far right, the farleft and there's so much about
(03:54):
polarization in the news andeverywhere that we look.
And in fact, very early in myReiki.
Career, I spoke with WilliamRand about this and he suggested
a really interesting book calledThe Better, better Angels of Our
Nature by Stephen Pinker.
And that talked about the factthat news outlets and that it,
(04:21):
the, that it, it made betternews.
When there was controversy init, and when you really go
through, it's a rather heftyvolume.
But when you really go throughit, you realize that.
So much is about interpretationand perception and the way
things are framed.
(04:41):
And in fact, that's, I wastalking about marketing earlier
because marketing is somethingI've I focused on as I did my
master's in businessadministration.
And marketing is all aboutframing things the way, how you
frame things and.
And so it, it talked about that.
(05:03):
But I recently watched apodcast.
With Mel Robbins, she had aconversation with Dr.
Todd Rose, who is the author ofCollective Illusions,
conformity, complicity, and theScience of Why We Make Bad
Decisions, and.
I was so inspired after watchingthis podcast.
(05:25):
I came away from it with so muchhope for humanity.
And I realized, you know what?
We have to blend this togetherwith Reiki for our Reiki share
this month, because I wasactually gobsmacked by some of
what he said.
(05:46):
Now, one of the things that.
He did say at one point in thepodcast, he brought out a quote
of Carl Rogers, which is all ofthe problems in society from
nations against nations, groups, against groups boil down to
individuals at war withthemselves.
(06:07):
And this is something that wecan really relate to in Reiki
because.
If you've studied with me,you've probably heard me say,
our outer world always resemblesour inner world, and so whatever
is going on inside of us isoften usually reflected in our
(06:29):
lives.
So this quote really resonatedwith me and rang true, but what.
Todd Rose was talking about moreso was the fact that when we're
disconnected from our authenticselves, that inner war mirrors
(06:53):
outward as division, and we knowthis to be true.
I know that as you've done Reikiand I'm sure that you've
probably seen that in yourlives, and I'd like you to
think, is there.
A place, is there an area ofyour life where you feel.
(07:13):
That you're at odds with someoneelse, that you're really
polarized.
I think about my father and Iand how I keep horses versus how
he did.
And we used to just argue aboutit and disagree.
And at one point it was actuallywhen animal Reiki was forming,
(07:35):
animal Reiki showed me that,everybody.
Has a right to keep animals theway and the animals find the
people that have the conditionsthat they want and.
I stopped bracing and some ofyou have heard me talk about
bracing before.
'cause this is a concept that Ihad to learn in order to work
(07:56):
with horses.
Horses are roughly 1200 poundsand if I am trying to muscle a
horse or strong arm them intodoing something, I'm not going
to win.
And mark Rash had brought thisbeautiful theory of how to drop
the brace out of your body sothat you're very loose and
(08:18):
fluid, and from that place, fromthat loose fluid place without
the brace, and it can be shownphysically.
You basically, the horse hasnothing to fight against and so
you just go along.
And I really thought about thatand I extrapolated it into my
own life and I thought, where amI bracing in my life?
(08:41):
Where?
Am I not getting along withothers or people in my life?
And there were quite a, therewere a few areas, I'm gonna be
honest.
But fortunately I knew Reiki atthat time and so I was really
able to focus and concentratethe Reiki toward wherever I was
bracing toward what?
(09:03):
Toward that brace itself andjust allow the brace to release,
to sink into the earth, to dropout of my body.
And so interestingly, I didn'teven always have to say
anything, but any of therelationships that were a little
(09:24):
taught, a little tense they justresolved themselves and.
It's as if we all knew theyresolved themselves without a
word spoken.
And so this episode reallyreminded me of that whole thing.
(09:45):
Now, one of the things that Dr.
Rose discovered is that mostpolarization isn't real.
And this.
Might be the part that shockedme the most.
It's built on false beliefsabout what other people, about
(10:08):
what others think, and he callsthat collective illusion, and
that is when the majorityprivately disagrees with a
perceived norm, but goes alongwith it because they assume that
everyone else agrees.
He talked about the fact thatthese illusions can happen among
tightly knit groups.
(10:30):
And and if they can happen amongthese tightly knit groups, then
obviously they can also, it'svery easy to extrapolate that
they would happen across acountry.
And he talks about the fact thatas humans we're very hardwired
to, fit in to get along.
(10:53):
We are a species that functionsbest as a collective and a as a
group.
And as such we're hardwired tofit in, to get along.
And what's really interesting isthe way that our brains estimate
what people.
(11:14):
Need on a regular basis orbelieve is that we assume the
loudest voices are the majority, even if that loud voice, for
instance, just comes from oneperson.
So if one person is sayingsomething very loudly, we just
assume that's the majority, andwith that need to belong.
If we don't agree, we will selfsilence.
(11:40):
And I thought that wasabsolutely fascinating.
And so what was reallyinteresting is he used an
example, for instance, of thesocial media platform X, and
(12:02):
when they looked at it, 80% ofthe content on x.
Comes from 10% of the users, andof course it is the 10% that
seem to have more extremepositions.
And so the remaining users tendto self silence rather than
(12:25):
stand up and say actually no,this is what I believe.
And take a risk of getting, caught in the crossfire.
Or they self silence or they saywhat they think other people
want to hear.
And in fact, the research showedthat two thirds of us are self
(12:47):
silencing right now.
And what's really worrisome,about that.
Is that it's really, it's beenproven to be really bad for our
health to self silence.
It leads to things like heartconditions and and other health
(13:08):
issues but particularly waslinked to heart conditions and
what's even with that in mind, with that number of people self
silencing with that small numberof people having the loudest
voices, they discovered thatthis polarization that we
(13:32):
believe exists is actuallyfalse.
It's a false polarization, andthat false polarization causes
us to lose trust in each other.
And then also even to becomeresentful.
Now, on top of all of this, sowe've got the 10% of users with
(13:53):
an agenda who have the loudestvoices.
They also did a study.
There's a few studies I'm gonnarefer to here.
So bear with me and we will getinto the Reiki part of it.
But I really want to lay thegroundwork first.
On top of that fact and the factthat two thirds of us are self
(14:14):
silencing at the moment.
Right now there are also foreignentities that are using bots and
ai and over a quarter of allinteractions on social media.
Or with bots, and he actuallysaid that's a low estimate.
(14:36):
It's likely higher, but it's atminimum a quarter of all
interactions are with bots, andthe bots are no longer trying to
spread disinformation.
They're actually programmed tomanufacture illusions.
And they're targeting Gen Zbecause the Gen Z probably spend
(15:02):
more time online than any othergeneration.
And it's important to rememberthat people will profit from
these illusions.
And what's interesting, withthat is that he said, this
generation's collectiveillusions become next
(15:25):
generation's private opinion.
In other words, young people arelooking to society for.
What to believe, how to behave, that sort of thing.
Young kids, they don't know whatthat this is a collective
illusion.
Most adults don't know that thispolarization is a collective
(15:47):
illusion.
I didn't know.
And so they don't know that it'snot true.
And so they be, they are usingthat like they believe that's
true.
So for instance, now, youngpeople are looking at what's
happening.
And if, when you ask, do youwanna be when you grow up,
(16:08):
instead of saying, a teacher, afirefighter, and a doctor, a
nurse, any, or a carpenter, anyof those things, they're saying,
I wanna be a social influencer,or I wanna have a million
followers.
And when you ask them, for whatdoesn't matter, like this is
what they're following.
So his point in all of this isthe importance to stop
(16:34):
conforming.
In fact, they did a studyreally, he is a, he's a Harvard
researcher.
They did a study called theSuccess Index, which.
Measured 61 attributes and on,and people agreed on eight out
(16:56):
of 10 as to what was the mostimportant to them.
Everybody had the same eight.
Eight out of the top 10 peopleagreed on, and it doesn't matter
how they voted, where they live, where they're from, what their
economic background was like.
We're essentially the same atthe core of our beings.
(17:17):
We have a unification conconsciousness that at play here.
In fact, the number one thingthat people.
Wanted or looked at as to whatwas successful is not, wasn't
even a little bit selfish.
It was to do work that has apositive impact on people.
(17:39):
Now, I know as Reikipractitioners, that's what most
of us want to do, but.
It's not unusual.
It is what most people want.
And the top in the top 10 werethings like relationships,
family, character,self-improvement, and being
involved in and engaged incommunity.
(18:01):
Interestingly, the one thingthat was in the top 10 that most
people are not accomplishing isbeing involved in or engaged in
the community because.
They don't know how.
And so that was reallyinteresting.
But at the core people think thesame thing.
(18:26):
And so one of the things thatDr.
Rose was talking about is that,we're unbelievably similar and.
We get weary with all the noiseand we go silent, and that's
dangerous for us.
(18:47):
And yet he talked about theimportance of being authentic,
to stop conforming, to connectwith what's important to you and
be authentic.
And in fact, he even saidauthenticity is the kryptonite.
(19:08):
For collective illusions.
And so with Holy Fire, Reiki, with Reiki in general, and then
Holy Fire Reiki even morespecifically, one of the things
we work toward is becoming ourauthentic selves, expressing our
authentic selves.
(19:30):
And right now.
There are things that peoplepublicly say but secretly want,
and that creates that divisionwithin us.
So he really encouraged us.
He said, you have the power tolet go of what everyone else
thinks.
In fact, you're conforming tobelong to a group and that group
(19:55):
may not even believe what you'reconforming to.
He used a really funny examplethat, he really enjoyed, I think
it was staying home and playingboard games, but his.
Grandparents got in their headsthat he really liked to go to
Sizzlers.
So every once a week they allwent to Sizzlers and he didn't
(20:15):
like to go, but he didn't wannahurt their feelings.
And on her deathbed, hisgrandmother said, we didn't
really like Sizzler, but we knewit was important to you.
And so here the whole family hadbeen going to sizzlers for
weekly or whatever.
Nobody really wanted to, buteveryone believed that the
(20:37):
others did.
And so just the importance ofhaving those conversations and
he asked a question, what wouldyou do if you knew that it was
an illusion?
What would you do if you knewthat?
Some of that polarization andsome of what we're seeing
(21:00):
online.
Was illusion.
And would it be, would you stopsilencing?
Would you be authentic becausethere is a cost to both our
physical and psychologicalhealth to self silencing.
And in fact, he was talkingabout the Gen Z generation and
(21:21):
how there's never been ageneration that has had more
anxiety and so on.
And that is because of.
So much time online and thebelief in that need to self
silence.
So in our podcast I think thatit's really important for us to
(21:44):
just remember that mostpolarization isn't real.
It's built on false beliefs ofwhat others think, and.
When we are caught bracing inthat space of polarization to
just ask is that real?
And just really feel into askwith Reiki, ask Reiki to give
(22:08):
you the discernment.
Is this real?
Is this conflict?
Is this polar polarization,polarity?
Is this real?
And.
Because that collectiveillusion, as I mentioned, is
when the majority privatelydisagree with a perceived norm,
but go along with it becausethey assume that everyone else
agrees.
And his point is this happensmore than we realize.
(22:33):
For instance, in politics.
And you guys know that I hadbeen guided by Reiki to throw my
hat in the ring a few timesrecently.
Most people believe thateveryone is extreme, but the
data actually shows that mostpeople are moderate.
(22:54):
When we talk about socialvalues, most people crave
kindness and integrity.
Rather than status or power, andyet they think others value,
status, and power.
I know that the bots and thealgorithms will always amplify
the loudest extremes and makethese illusions look real, but
(23:19):
there is an energetic cost topretending.
Our fear of exclusion will tendto drive conformity.
Now, I'd like you to think aboutis there an area in your life
where you're self silencing?
(23:40):
Where're not saying something, and what does that feel like in
your body?
Does it feel like tension?
Is your breath a little moreshallow?
Does your heart feel a littletighter?
And we know that when energyconstricts, our life force
(24:03):
energy can't flow as freely whenwe're, and that happens when
we're disconnected from thetruth.
Knowing that authenticity iskryptonite to collective
illusions, I'd like to give youan example.
(24:24):
Of that if one person hi.
His theory was if when oneperson courageously speaks their
truth, it breaks the illusionfor others who silently agree.
And he gave an example that Ifound fascinating.
The Czech playwright, Vass LoveHavel.
Is a really powerful, modernexample of how authentic truth
(24:49):
can dissolve collectiveillusions and transform society
peacefully.
So he wrote he was a playwright,a poet, a dissident.
He was living in Czechoslovakiaunder communist rule and
actually during the height ofgovernment.
Oppression.
People were afraid to speaktheir mind and he told the truth
(25:11):
through art.
And some of you may have heardme express or say how I always
feel that artists are ahead andscientists and the rest of us
are trying to catch up like theartists.
I don't know.
I have a tremendous amount ofrespect for artists and the way
that they.
Can lead society.
(25:33):
And so this is what he did.
He wrote an essay called ThePower of the Powerless, and it
became an underground manifestofor change.
He described how systems ofoppression survive, not through
violence alone, but through thelies that everyone pretends to
believe.
He wrote about a green grocerwho placed a sign in his shop
(25:56):
window that re read workers ofthe World unite.
Not because he believed it, butbecause everybody else does, and
not displaying it could get himin trouble.
And he talked about howcollective illusions are
maintained this way throughconformity and silence.
But he also showed how theycould collapse.
Quote, by living within thetruth, you make it possible for
(26:19):
everyone around you to see thatit's possible to live
differently.
And so by choosing authenticityover illusion, that sparked a
revolution.
And they called it the velvetrevolution because not one drop
of flood was shed.
And instead it led to a peacefultransition from totalitarian
(26:41):
rule to democracy.
In 1989 and he didn't even thinkthat it would work that quickly.
He said that this was possible, but he didn't believe, he said,
I won't see it in my lifetime.
And I think it was within a yearit had taken a hold and
(27:02):
remarkably he became the firstpresident of the newly free
Czech Republic.
One of the things we have at ourdisposal is Reiki.
Reiki can always reveal truthwithout judgment and help us
align or realign with what'sgenuine.
(27:24):
And so once again, I'll inviteus to pause and just ask
ourselves, where am I bracing?
Against someone or something inmy life and just let that roll
(27:47):
through.
And there's another question wecould ask, where am I pretending
or hiding or silencing?
What I really believe, and sothis, this creates that inner
(28:24):
incongruence, that misalignmentbetween what we feel.
Think and express and bringingin congruence bring is the
foundation for peace.
So it's really important for usto align more deeply with
(28:45):
ourselves, our own values, ourown compassion, our own essence.
Rather than our fears, that'sbeen showing up a lot with
healthcare Reiki or what wethink that other people believe.
(29:05):
So we're going to move intomeditation today that just
dissolves the illusion ofseparation and helps us return
to unity.
I'd like you to think aboutthose areas in your life where
you might be bracing thosepeople that you have an issue
(29:31):
with, or anywhere at all.
Where there is incongruence, Iespecially invite you to think
about any areas where you may besilencing yourself or feeling
that you can't or don't have avoice.
And then I'd invite you to justactivate Reiki, bringing your
(29:52):
hands into Gassho with yourthumbs at your heart.
Take a deep belly breath in.
And just let that all go and goahead and bring in whatever
(30:16):
symbols that you feel guided touse today, and as you breathe.
Just notice that you'resurrounded by angels and dark
(30:37):
angels, and the brothers andsisters of the light and the
divine animals are here.
The enlightened ones, thebeloved ones, and just make
yourself comfortable.
Allow yourself to settlewherever you are.
(31:00):
Feel the earth beneath yousupporting you just feel that
quiet hum of life.
Even as in the northernhemisphere, the earth is getting
ready to go to sleep for a bit.
(31:22):
That hum of life still exists.
And that's the same vibrationthat moves through every living
thing.
And as you breathe in, justimagine the light of Reiki
(31:43):
flowing from the highest heavensand from the divine earth.
To in front of your hands, through your hands, and into
your heart, the gift of love.
And as that love enters yourheart, it just softens all the
(32:07):
braces that could be there for avariety of reasons.
And just allow it to return youhome to yourself.
(32:28):
Bring yourself home to you.
And take another deep bellybreath in and exhale your
(32:55):
worries and concerns.
So often we spend time worryingabout other people, what they'll
think, how they'll feel.
Just let that all go.
(33:18):
This moment is about you and foryou, so give yourself this time
to focus your attention on you.
In order to do this, just inviteyour own personal energy to move
in close to your body now, creating a sort of energetic
Spanx moving in so that it justskims your skin.
(33:43):
And this may take a few moments.
That's okay.
You'll probably notice that asyour energy comes in closer,
that any energies you'recarrying that are not your own
just fall away.
(34:03):
Any projections or expectationsof others are released now with
love, and they just move intothe thirsty Earth where they're
transformed, transmuted.
Place your hands comfortably onyour body now, wherever you feel
(34:24):
guided, as we reflect on asimple, powerful truth, all of
the problems in society.
From nations against nations, groups against groups boil down
(34:45):
to individuals at war withthemselves, these collective
illusions, false beliefs aboutwhat others value that keep us
pretending and posturing orsilence us.
(35:12):
Let's choose authenticity.
Authenticity, being thekryptonite to collective
illusions.
Let's show up for ourselves asour true selves and as we do.
(35:39):
The illusion will begin tocrumble.
Take another deep breath andjust sigh it out.
(36:05):
Just allow our breath and theReiki energy to guide us to the
truth that lives beneath thenoise, that deep current of
love, belonging, connection,unification.
(36:30):
We know at the core of ourbeings, we are all a spark of
the divine.
Love is who we are, all of us.
(36:51):
Just allow yourself to connectinto that current of love
connection and from this safespace, bring your mind to.
(37:14):
A person, a group, or asituation where you feel
polarized, tapped into theduality.
(37:35):
Notice anywhere in your bodythat feels braced.
It might be your shoulders, yourjaw.
Your breath.
We invite Reiki to move into allof the tight places, all of the
(37:59):
bracing, and to just release itwith love.
We consciously allow it tosoften our armor.
(38:25):
And as it works away, let's askourselves, where in my life do I
feel polarized with someone orsomething?
(38:49):
What do I truly believe beneaththe stories and fears?
(39:30):
What would it feel like to showup authentically in this
situation?
With this person to listen, tospeak, and to love from my own
(39:59):
truth.
And as these questions movethrough your awareness, just
(40:22):
imagine that the light of Reiki.
This beautiful golden light isjust creating an expansion in
your own dear heart.
(40:43):
And with each breath, justnotice that the light from your
heart space is growing.
We're going to breathe here forseveral breaths together.
(43:02):
Notice the light of your hearthas grown so massive that it can
bridge those inner opposites.
Fear and love, control andsurrender.
Anger and compassion.
(43:25):
Feel the dualities within you.
Then each of us begin to mergeinto wholeness.
You are not two sides in aconflict.
(43:51):
You are whole.
You're complete.
You are one radiant being.
And as this bridge is formedwithin us, I invite you to
(44:12):
extend that light of Reiki, thatbridge beyond yourself to those
you felt divided from.
We'll breathe here for severalbreaths together.
(46:42):
Extend that light into yourcommunity, your province, your
state, your country, yourcontinent.
(47:03):
And the world.
Notice the threads of lightconnecting every heart,
dissolving illusion, revealingthe shared desire for peace,
(47:26):
safety, love, and understanding.
And just breathe that unity intoyour body and on every exhale,
simply release any residualpolarity.
(47:50):
The need to be right to defend,to separate.
On every inhale draw in the calmtruth.
I am.
We are part of the whole, we areone energy expressed many ways.
(48:23):
And let's just remain here.
Exhaling residual polarity andinhaling peace and love and
truth.
(50:27):
Let's just remain here instillness in this unified field
of consciousness.
As Reiki continues to flow, harmonizing all that once
appeared to be in opposition.
(52:34):
And just for today we'regrateful.
Grateful for our courage to seeclearly to see through this and
just for today, we are kindfeeling compassion for.
(53:04):
Anyone who is still trapped incollective illusions and just
for today, we release worry, worry about what other people
think as we step into thecourage to live authentically,
(53:29):
to speak authentically.
And just for today, we releaseall bracing and all anger
because just for today, we aredevoted to our work.
(53:53):
And our work is being a beaconof light to others.
Showing up authentically as ourtrue self, that spark of
divinity that exists within eachof us, allowing it to shine, to
(54:17):
shine light on the illusions.
And remember that every time youlive authentically, you speak
authentically.
You heal an illusion foryourself and in the world.
(54:50):
You're welcome to stay in thisspace as long as you need.
Whenever it feels right for youto return, take a deep breath,
bring your attention to youreyes.
Slowly open your eyes and comeback.
(55:15):
Come back.
Whole, authentic, aligned withyour deeper truth.
Longer willing to self silence.
(55:37):
I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for being here with
me today, whether you're here inreal time.
During our Reiki share, which isopen to everyone by the way, or
whether you're listeningafterward to the podcast,
(55:57):
remember, most division isillusion, and the thing that
dissolves illusions isauthenticity, and Reiki can help
us.
Identify illusion and return toour wholeness, to our authentic
