Jackass and Viva La Bam star, Brandon Novak, crashed the set of the REINVENTED podcast for a crazy in-person sit-down interview with host Jennifer Eckhart. From being a professional skateboarder discovered by Tony Hawk, to living homeless on the streets of Baltimore as a heroin addict, Jen and Brandon get into the nitty-gritty and all the gory details of his life on this special episode.
While detailing his harrowing life journey, Brandon Novak talks about his struggle with addiction, being a convicted felon by the age of 38, thirteen rehab attempts to get sober, time spent on life support and shares that his mother purchased a burial plot for him on Mother's Day. Brandon candidly opens up about prostituting his body for drugs, and shares that at one point while living homeless on the streets of Baltimore, his worldly possessions consisted of eight scarves, two jackets, three socks and a stick of deodorant, which all fit into a bag that doubled as his pillow.
Jen asks Brandon about the status of his friendship with Bam Margera, including how fellow Jackass star Ryan Dunn's untimely death impacted his life. The duo also discuss future Jackass projects, the importance his faith played in his ability to stay sober, his unique perspective on The Twelve Steps, and finding hope in hopeless situations
Despite hitting rock bottom, Brandon Novak is now over eight years sober, and is one of the most in-demand addiction keynote speakers in the nation, a best-selling author, a sober recovery interventionist and, of course, a JACKASS! Brandon Novak now dedicates his life to supporting others in recovery having acquired six homes that he has personally transformed into sober living facilities. Redemption and recovery is always within reach — and Brandon Novak proves that it's never too late in life to reinvent yourself!
