UNK? How you doing man?
UNK are you? Unk are you with us?
Yeah, I think I am. Can you hear me?
There he is. There.

(06:35):
Froze up on me. You did a little bit, man.
How you doing, man? How's everything doing Well?
How are you guys tonight? Hanging, hanging.
I can't complain. I made I made gents some lovely
a lovely pasta dish this eveningand nice.
Yeah, she's, she says delicious and she wants me to make it
again, so I will. Well.
It's pasta and it's cheese and it's like pasta sauce.
(06:56):
It's it's the best combination for a little girl like me.
She's. Like, oh, it's really good
actually. She's like, wait.
She's like, why can't you make this again?
Like why can't you just? I like it the way you make it.
Oh, you like the way I make it, but you don't like the way you,
how other, you know, other people make it?
Is that what you're trying to tell me?
Cheesy. I like it when it's cheesy.
I try to make it as. Cheesy.
That's actually how that's actually how my life is.
(07:19):
I like it. I like my our relationship when
it's cheesy too. It's very cheesy.
Very, very cheesy. We are super cheesy people.
Yeah. Moving on.
Well, I'm trying like I'm tryingto keep my my volume level is
correct, but now it keeps going in and out in and out.
So if you guys went outside onceI this issue set up, we'll be we
should be good to go. But right now it's working fine.
I don't know why he's been doingthis lately.
(07:40):
We changed to a new. We did change to a new platform
because Zoom is charging a money.
So for right now, we'll be usingGoogle, Google Meets, and if
anything happens, we may switch over to a different to a
different platform to get all this situated and we'll move on
from there. We're not going to go to
Riverside. Are you kidding?
Riverside. Oh, whoa, whoa.
(08:04):
I don't know, maybe. I just stayed at Riverside.
It was amazing. Not.
That river, not that Riverside, it's it's.
Amazing platform. It's similar to Zoom.
It's a hosting. It's a hosting platform.
And but OK. Oh, are you serious?
You think I was gonna say that to a cool, you know, cool Disney
Resort? I will never say that to A to a
(08:25):
Disney resort. Never.
Because that's where OK, good. Because that's where, that's
where I proposed to Jen and I proposed to her you.
At me. Riverside.
Riverside. No.
Well. I guess so.
It was a French Quarter. It was Riverside.
It was a side that had all the roses.
Yeah, that's Riverside. Plantation.
That's Riverside, OK. It's not, it's not a French
(08:45):
Quarter, so it is Riverside. He he yeah, he proposed to me in
the New Orleans Style hotel. So I guess that's Riverside.
And I made and I made a huge mistake.
I shouldn't worn a suit in the Florida heat.
You. Probably should have had been
like come up to the top of the stairs and video the proposal
(09:07):
there because our proposal video.
So Ben and our best my best friend Katie took pictures
'cause he sent me on a on a scavenger hunt for the for the
proposal, right. He sent me to all these
different places and gave me a couple of different clues and
things like that to go, you know, get chocolate at
Ghirardelli and go to Blaze Pizza and get lunch and this and
(09:29):
that the other. Anyway, so he did all of that
and we ended up at Riverside andhe was at the top of a
plantation style hotel section, what they had there.
And I had to go up all the way up the stairs where he where he
proposed. He proposed.
There was a pillar. There's this everything like the
(09:52):
the ledge and everything. So like there's there's fencing,
you know what I mean? But basically like to keep you
from falling over the edge and everything.
And he was blocked by that in the video because he was
kneeling. He got on Juanita to propose and
everything and you could. Everybody was taking videos from
like 100 feet away so you could barely see anything.
(10:13):
You're calling me short? No, I'm saying that it was
probably not the best idea to propose, if you were going to
propose there, to not have been up at the top and taking a video
like from there. Like I said, Jen, you're calling
me short. It's OK.
Just keep calling me short. I mean, you're only an inch or
two taller than me. I'm taller than I'm short, I
said. An inch or two taller than me,
(10:33):
dumbass. Wow already call me a dumbass on
the episode tonight. You're being irritating.
That's the point about being thehost.
I have to be irritating every once in a while.
We really don't. We don't.
Oh jeez. But yeah, Uncle, like I said,
this is our this weekend is our wedding anniversary.
Well, technically Monday is our.Monday is our wedding
anniversary. Today is my mom and dad's
(10:53):
wedding. Congratulations.
Yeah, today is my mom and dad's wedding anniversary.
They were married 48 years ago today, so that was awesome.
That is awesome. Awesome.
So right, so guys, right now, you guys, we we have myself, unk
and Jen. Mike isn't here tonight.
I believe he's he's working or he didn't get the link, but it's
(11:14):
OK. He'll jump on the next round
table episode if he can. Nicole, we all know where she's
at, where she is, she's at work.So and we really haven't got in

(24:13):
That was Robin Williams last movie appearance.
His very last one I'm remembering.
Correct. Yeah, it was his very last one.
I do love those movies. It'll be hard to recast some of
those characters and Mr. Going with a completely new storyline
at a different museum with different whole new characters.
(24:36):
So yeah, I think it will be better.
But The thing is, I mean, we, I mean, there's got to be somebody
who can actually still play it as, you know, Robin Williams as
Theodore, as Teddy Roosevelt, who they who they cast, though?
I mean, I mean, we know that Benstill, Ben still will be back to

This isn't your segment anymore. It's time to step aside, because
(31:38):
now it's time for this day in Disney history with Jen.
Take it away, Jen. Welcome to this day in Disney
history. On July 16th, 1993, Hocus Pocus
cast's first spell. Who lit the black flame candle?
(31:59):
It has to be a virgin. On this day in 1993, Disney
unleashed Hocus Pocus in theaters.
Originally not a box office smash, the spooky comedy
starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy
as the Sanderson sisters eventually brewed itself into a
cult classic. I'm a positive real quick.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy and Jimmy had a Spooky
(32:20):
Empire. This was years ago, of course
Her her line was short, so we talked for a good hour about the
movie and about the theme parks in Florida, which was a pretty
cool conversation her and I had. That's cool, all right?
Now it's a Hollywood's, and now it's a Halloween staple.
Whether you're at home in the parks or attending Disney's Boo
Bash, chances are you're going to hear I put a spell on you.
(32:44):
Well, technically not a Boo bashed ones.
Not technically a lot of Boo bashes and digital land, but you
can see this Sanderson sisters at Mickey's National Scary
Halloween Party. Erica Derker No.
That's true. That's what I can see them.
Erica Derker. Because they do a live stage,
they do a live stage, they do a live stage show.
And now you're mine anyway. Go, go, go.
(33:06):
So long. Yeah, wrong part of the song.
Well, on July 16th, 1997, Georgeof the Jungle swings into
theaters. George, George, George of the
(33:30):
jungle. Strong as he can be.
Yeah. Watch out for that tree.
George, George, George of the jungle lives a life that's free.
Yeah, and watch out for that tree.
(33:51):
When he gets in a scrape, he makes his escape with the help
of his friend and ape named Ape.Then away he'll schlep on his
elephant Shep, while fellow lenders must stay instead.
George, George, George of the Jungle, friend to you and me.
Yeah. Watch out for that tree.
(34:15):
Watch out for that tree. George, George, George of the
(34:47):
jungle. Strong as he can be.
Yeah, watch out for that tree. George, George, George of the
jungle lives a life that's free.Yeah, watch out for that tree.
(35:08):
When he gets in the scrape, he makes his escape with the help
of his friend and an ape named Ape.
Then away he'll slap on his elephant chef while fella Anders
Yella stay instead. George, George, George of the
jungle friend to you and me. Yeah, watch out for that dream.
(35:32):
Watch out for that. Yeah.
Watch out for that tree watch. Out for that tree.
Watch out for that tree boom boom.
(35:52):
Brendan Fraser took on the role of the lovable vine swinging
hero George of the Jungle. Based on the classic J Ward
cartoon, this slapstick live action comedy made audiences
laugh in twins a little bit as George crashed through tree
after tree. Fun Fact Film became a surprise
hit, earning over $174 million at the worldwide box office.
(36:15):
Hold up, they only made $174 million at the box office.
Remember that this was 1997. This was 20.
Years ago. No, this is like 28, almost 30
years ago. OK.
So yeah, that's up. That kind of stuff happens.
All right, so July 16th, 2000, PB and J Otter make a splash on
(36:38):
Playhouse. Disney do the do the do the
noodle dance. I don't even know what that is.
Do the noodle dance. Wait, let me guess.
(37:00):
A time machine? No helicopter, no giant magnet,
and no. I have to go and tell Aunt Nana
the truth. That goes way that goes way back
from PB and J Otter. I was literally like 17 when
that came out, so that's not a me thing.
Maybe your 90s or early 2000s kid, which I was not.
(37:24):
Chances are you remember PB and J Otter, which debuted today on
Playhouse Disney with Episode Soccer.
Surprise speaking Blues, this adorable show taught teamwork,
problem solving and friendship. Plus the catchy noodle dance
song that still lives rent free and many millennials minds.
(38:13):
Everybody just says. The That was a very big tongue
(38:43):
twister on July 17th, Disneyland's birthday, 1955, the
opening of Disneyland. The press preview day was on
night, July 17th, 1955, a date that will live in Disney fandom
forever. It was Disneyland's official
opening day, though it was technically a press preview.
Despite the chaos, plumbing problems, overcrowding, mom
(39:04):
women's heels sinking into freshall asphalt and counterfeit
tickets, it marked the beginningof the theme park industry as we
know it. Opening day attractions included
Jungle Cruise, the one won't personally worked on?
Yep, Autopia, where kids gleefully bumped into each other
for decades, which was basicallybumper cars.
(39:25):
Indy Speedway. Yeah, King Arthur's carousel,
which is kind of cool. Peter Pan's flight.
My favorite? Mr. Toads, wild ride my.
Favorite. And this is Snow Whites
Adventures Mad Tea Party. Yes, the spinning teacups.
Don't like that ride? Yeah, kind of makes me nauseous.
Mark Twain, Riverboat, Main Street Cinema and the Disneyland
(39:47):
Railroad. This was Walt Disney's dream
come true, and nearly 70 years later, it's still inspiring
generations of dreamers. Happy birthday, Disneyland.
Yep, July 17th, 2013 Star Tours the Adventure Continues opening
The Adventures Continue opens inTokyo Disneyland Tokyo
Disneyland fans join the intergalactic fun when Star Wars
(40:09):
Star Tours the Adventures Continue opened its doors.
The updated version featured random randomized sequences, 3D
effects, and appearances from Darth Vader.
Princess. Leia, Boba Fett, and even BB8
and later updates. Now No2 rides are the same.
July 18th, 1955 Disneyland opensto the public After the chaotic
(40:35):
press preview the day before Disneyland officially opened to
the general public on July 18th,tickets were just $1.00 for
adults and $0.50 for kids. Imagine that that.
One $1.00. Geez Louise.
Inflation, you gotta love it and.
Let's see, let's see, how much is it right now for a day
tickets like 100 and some dollars for the Magic Kingdom.
(40:55):
It's 200 for Epcot and most and most likely like 200 for
Hollywood Studios. Come on, about a dollar.
Oh man, yeah. He has a lot.
July 18th, 1986 Flight of the Navigator takes off Disney's
Flight of the Navigator Sword into theaters, blending sci-fi,
(41:16):
time travel, and a little bit of1980s nostalgia.
It told the story of David Freeman, a boy abducted by an
alien spacecraft voiced by Paul Rubens, AKA Pee Wee Herman.
This film became a beloved part of Disney's 80s live action era
and still has fans today. You know, I have.
I never seen that movie. I've never seen Flight of
(41:37):
Navigator. Either.
It is on Disney Plus though, so maybe, maybe time I might have
to watch a little bit of it. Or maybe, maybe tomorrow, maybe
tomorrow. Well.
July 18th, 1994 inspired the Grand Lodges of the Pacific
Northwest. Inspired by them, the Wilderness
Lodge Resort opened at Walt Disney World.
(41:58):
With its towering lobby, authentic totem poles and
geysers that erupt hourly, it became a fan favorite for guests
looking for rustic charm mixed with Disney magic.
I really would like to go to thewilderness.
Lodge, that's what my that's oneof my favorite resorts to go to.
I've. Never actually been to any of
the resorts like that. July 818th, 1999 Tarzan Rocks
(42:19):
opens at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Before there was Finding Nemo the musical, there was Tarzan
Rocks. This live action stage showed
show mixed acrobatics, rollerblading performers, live
rock music and aerial stunts allset to the soundtrack to Phil
Collins's Tarzan the Musical. It ran from 1999 to 2006 and
(42:43):
still lives in the hearts of many Animal Kingdom fans.
Not for me. Oh my gosh, that was one of my
favorite shows. You liked ever.
I loved it. Yeah, I probably would be crying
at You'll be in My heart. My favorite song too.
July 19th in 1989, Splash Mountain opens at Disney.
Zippity Doo dah zippity. I'm not going to sing the rest
(43:08):
of that song. Splash Mountain opened at
Disneyland in 1989. Wanting a thrilling drops with
scenes from Song of the South, afilm no longer shown publicly
due to its outdated content. You.
Can see you guys can actually watch that video.
I found it on a website go to ifyou guys go.
That's not hold on. Hold on, if you guys go to
archive.org, you guys can watch that video.
(43:30):
The reason that it is no longer shown publicly is because it was
stolen. No, it was stolen from the
minstrel tales from African American people.
OK. Thank you.
The log flume ride became an instant classic through though
today the Disneyland and Disney World versions are being are
reimagined as Tana's Bayou Adventure, bringing new life
(43:53):
into the beloved attraction. Still having on that ride.
I don't care about that ride because they took away Splash
Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. OK, it's still basically Splash
Mountain. There's different characters in
there. Yeah, I know.
All right, July 19th, 1999, Disney's Doug premieres on ABC.
(44:55):
After buying the None. rights toDoug from Nickelodeon, Disney
launched Disney's Doug as part of their One Saturday Morning
block. It featured older versions of
Doug, Patti, Skeeter, and Roger.Though some fans still debate
whether Disney's Doug holds up to the original Nick version, it
doesn't. Need to steal a a Nickelodeon?
(45:26):
Didn't steal it, they paid for it.
OK, They paid for it, but I was going to say that this is a cult
classic show on Nickelodeon, I guess.
I guess it really wasn't doing that well on Nickelodeon.
So this was like, we'll buy the rights, we'll buy it and we'll
take, we'll take it off your hands all.
Right July 19th, 2019, The Lion King live action roars into

Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Bill Eicher, and James Earl

(46:11):
Despite mixed reviews about its visual style, it became 1 of
Disney's highest grossing films ever.
Well, what's the highest grossing film right now?
It's a, Oh yeah, that's right, Lilo and Lilo and Stitch.
Which is also a Disney film. July 20th, 1964 Mary Poppins
premieres in Los Angeles. Practically perfect in every
(46:32):
way. Spoonful of sugar.
On this day in 1964, Disney's Mary Poppins made its premiere
at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Starring Julie Andrews and
Decrandyke, the film blended live action and animation in a
way no one had seen before. It earned 13 Academy Award
nominations, winning five, including Best Actress for Julie
Andrews. Five wow. 5 Academy Awards.
(46:54):
Wow. Didn't win all of them.
Well, it did win all five of them at least.
But she is 13. Academy and Nominations July
20th, 19 98 Disney Cruise Line expands its itineraries Disney
expanded its magical voyages, offering more destinations
beyond the original Bahamian Bahamian cruises.
(47:14):
Oh my God, I can't speak today. Disney Cruise Lines sales over
all all over the world from Alaska to Europe And with new
ships like the Disney Treasure coming soon, the adventure
continues. July 20th, 2002 The Country
Bears movie premieres. Welcome to the Country Bear Hall
Based on the Country Bear Jamboree attraction.
(47:35):
The country Bears movie premierein 2002.
It was a quirky family comedy with cameos from Elton John,
Willie Nelson and Queen Latifah, but it struggled at the box
office. Still, for fans of the
Animatronic Bears, it's a fun watch.
Good movie. I should like that movie.
Yeah, I don't care. July 21st, right?
(47:56):
Honestly, it is not that good. July 20.
I like it. You would you like The Muppets
movies that they have? Hey, hey.
Not all of them are bad. Well, don't you dare dis on The
Muppets. How dare.
You love them a bad or some of them are.
You. Alright, anyway, on July 21st,
1956, Disneyland's Skyway opens. The Skyway opened at Disneyland,
(48:18):
offering guests an aerial view of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
It was the first aerial ropeway ride in the US to use Alpine
style gondolas. The Skyway remained a classic
until it closed in 1994. Today you can still see remnants
of its old stations in the park.July 22nd, 1994 The Twilight
(48:39):
Zone Tower of Terror opens at Disney's Magic Kingdom, MGM
Sorry Studios, now Hollywood Studios.
Hold up, so when did when did Tower of Terror moved over from
MGM suits and Magic Kingdom? That'll be cool though.
That'll be cool. You're about to enter the
Twilight Zone. I can't do a better voice than
that. On this day in 1994, the Tower
(49:01):
of Terror opened at Disney's MGM.
It's good to the M part of it. I can't.
I don't think of it as MGM anymore, which is crazy because
I used to say I will never call this met.
I will never call this HollywoodStudios.
Nope. I can't think of it as MGM
anymore. It's Hollywood, all right.
So they opened at MGM, now Hollywood Studios, in 1994 when
(49:22):
it With its eerie atmosphere, randomized drop sequences and
Rod Serling narrating Courtesy I'm an impersonator using
original audio clips, it quicklybecame one of Disney's most
beloved thrill rides. There.
This is no ordinary elevator ride.
It's a plunge into another dimension.
That's it. And there you guys have it.
(49:43):
That was this day in Disney history with Jen.
And I got to say when I when I worked on at that attraction at
the the twice on tapped terror, we had so much fun doing that
ride. It was a blast.
I if I had to go back to my attraction, that is the one
attractions I should have stayed.
I should have stayed at that attraction permanently.

Want to plan out your very own theme park vacation wisely and
that's stupid. While visiting your favorite
parks? Well, you've come to the right
place. We call this segment Travel
Updates with UNK. Take it away, UNK.
All right, everybody. So give you guys a little bit
more of a recap from my previoustrip, but I'm going to leave
(55:11):
what the biggest tip that I haveright now when it comes to
Disney trips is if you are usingthe memory maker or you're
trying to keep track of your ride photos, Number one, check
and make sure they're showing upon your app.
But if they don't, don't waste time when you're at the park,
(55:33):
you can call photo pass servicesand they will find them for you.
But what I would do is try to atleast get an approximate time
that you rode the ride. So if you can kind of keep
track, there's not a ton of rides that have the ride photos.
When my family went, we were missing some.
(55:55):
We found them all but it took a little bit of time.
So just try to keep an eye on that.
And if you notice something missing, try to like make a note
or text yourself. Hey, missing this drive from
this day in we rode it around 9:00.
And they will, they will work tofind it.
If you can get them a close time, they will work to find it.
(56:19):
So that's my big tip for this week is try to keep track of
your ride photos if that's something you want to make sure
you have. Speaking of rides, this was a
very cool trip for me because myson Nick, my oldest, got to ride
some rides that he's never gotten to ride before and it's 3
(56:41):
big ones. He rode Tower of Terror for the
first time ever and he did amazing.
And then he rode Guardians of the Galaxy.
Whoa. And yeah, and he loved it.
And then he rode Space Mountain multiple times during our trip
for the first, but it was his first trip.
(57:02):
He got to ride Space Mountain. That was the one that I was most
scared of because, you know, I can't sit beside him or somebody
can't sit beside him and kind ofhold on to him.
But once that lap bar was lockedin, he was ready to go and he
had a blast with it. The last time we wrote it, he
tried to put the lap bar back onso he could go through the exit.
(57:25):
Oh, no riding again. Luckily, they don't lock when
you push them back down when you're supposed to be getting
off of them. He had a blast with that.
My youngest is height challengedand can't ride too much, but he
does love the barnstormer. Umm.
So we wrote that a few times so that he could ride it.
We've realized that he is going to be the scaredy cat of the
(57:49):
family because when we were riding Mickey and Minnie S, he
got scared. When the tornado scene happened,
he was scared because of the women and the tornado kind of
scared them. So he's we have a feeling he's
going to be the scaredy cat of the girl.
Man. It's all right, we'll still
(58:10):
he'll still ride stuff, but overall the rides as always were
amazing. The shows that we went to see we
didn't see ever show that Disneyputs on, but a good majority
they have. We saw favorite as always is The
Lion King. That show at Animal Kingdom
festival of The Lion King is a must do.
(58:33):
We saw the two new shows at Hollywood Studios, The Little
Mermaid show and The Villains Show, Which.
One. Which one did you like?
Which one did you like the most?Did you like the villains or did
you like or The Little Mermaid? I like the I like the randomness
of anticipation aspect of it, where the people in the audience
(58:54):
get to vote and that changes theending.
So I really like that. And then I'm trying to think the
everything else. I mean, I got got my last ride
on Dinosaur because I won't be back before it closes.
So I'm sad to see that leave lots of memories with that ride.
(59:15):
Safari was really good. When we wrote the safari,
everything at Magic Kingdom was amazing.
Oh Tiana's. I finally wrote Tiana's and that
was amazing. I really enjoyed it.
I like the updates like in the past.
It's a water ride so it will be something we do when we feel
(59:36):
like it. Not something we have to do
every trip though. My only negative this year.
I've never had an issue on fly the passage but they got the
back part secured fine but it wouldn't lock on my calf
muscles. So I I had the same issue that I
(59:56):
have on Tron or it won't go around my calf muscles.
But it worked out. My son still rode it.
This is not his first time riding Fly of the passage.
He just rode it with my dad and my wife and I waited out in the
hallway for him. But, and I didn't know they
would do this, but when I went out, they ended up giving not
(01:00:17):
just me but my entire family to redemption.
Like any ride, redemption passesbecause we waited in line and
then I wasn't able to enjoy the rides.
So I don't know if that's something they always do, but
that was a nice little surprise when I was feeling upset about
not getting to ride that. They they will usually, they
(01:00:40):
will usually do that for for thefamily if like the ride goes
down or the guys have to be if you have to be evacuated off the
attraction, they will give you aredeem, a redeem pass for to go
back on that attraction or to use use that like Lightning Lane
for a different attraction on property.
I just thought it was nice that they let us gave it to all of us
(01:01:03):
after because I couldn't ride it.
I was not expecting that. So and then the night time
shows, as always, were amazing. 4th of July fireworks at Magic
Kingdom. I will never be able to go and
watch my hometown fireworks again on 4th of July and not
compare them to how magical thatwas.
(01:01:25):
And then of course we talked about it last week.
But Fantasmic just is something special to everybody and very
special to my family. It's something we do multiple
times if able. So that's my little bit of a
trip recap for you guys. I will say there's lots of deals
(01:01:50):
going on right now, not only at Disney but also Universal.
So if you are thinking about booking a trip before the end of
the year. Please.
Make sure you are checking all the deals or find yourself a
travel agent like myself and askthem to help you figure out
(01:02:12):
what's the best deal for you andremember if they are a good
credible travel agent if there is no extra fee to you.
So if you book with me, I do notcharge you anything and that's
how most travel agents are. We get paid by the companies
(01:02:33):
that we book for so like Disney pays me or Universal pays me but
that's all I have for travel. I am going to share one last
story though because I rode Dinosaur for the last time.
I have a story I'd like to shareand has to deal with growing up.
(01:02:53):
My grandparents would go to Disney with us even up until I
was in my 20s. My grandpa was still going up
until I was married with my first child.
My grandmother was going. Actually no, she was around for
both. Both of my kids at least one
trip so my grandparents were always big on Disney with the
(01:03:17):
whole family. My grandpa was not a person to
ride rides. His favorite ride was small
world, but we somehow always convinced him to get on
Dinosaur. He would go do I like this ride
and my brother and I automatically would go yes you
love this ride and he would be like OK I'll go on it with you
(01:03:38):
guys. As soon as we got off we are
getting told off by him because because of how jerky it is and
he's like I will never ride thisride again.
And then the next trip or later that trip we would do the exact
same thing and he would ride it and this cycle would continue.
But it's a memory my brother andI have about my grandfather that
(01:04:01):
we will never forget. I'm sad to see that ride leave,
but excited for the new. Indiana Jones.
Indiana Jones ride coming. Yeah, which I mean, I mean,
dude, I have kind of a story like that, except I went on, I
went on dinosaur when the winnerwas a grand opening of Animal
Kingdom, right? So my, my uncle, my cousin, my
(01:04:25):
mom, my dad, myself and my, my dad's friend, he he was part of
the opening team for Animal Kingdom.
And that's how, that's how he got us into the theme park at
Animal Kingdom. We got like some cool magnets, a
couple cool shirts, cups, anything that had to do with the
grand opening of Animal Kingdom. We got that.
So that's. Cool.
So Long story short, we went on,we went on dinosaur and I just,
(01:04:49):
I begged my mom and dad. I'm like, guys, I'm gonna go on
dinosaur. I'm gonna go on dinosaur.
My mom did I go on dinosaur. My dad didn't go on dinosaurs.
It was, it's so just me, my cousin and my uncle.
And all I had to say was, yeah, I cried like a little baby.
So. But it was fun, dude.
My, my mom got me out of school and I, those are the best part.
(01:05:11):
She goes, Hey, do you want to, do you want to cut school today
and go to Disney? I'm like, yes, yes.
So it's hands down, yes, let's go.
So of course I didn't, I didn't,I did not have any homework
because it was pretty much like the last day of school and
towards like the last day of school, you will have this thing
called field day. And I'm like, you know what, I'm
good. I, I can skip out field day and
(01:05:33):
go to Disney instead with my, with my family.
And that's what we, and that's what we did.
So we went to animal, we went onrides, we did it.
It's it's tough to be a bug. Kali Rapids, Lion King.
We also did Tarzan and finish out the day with a dinosaur.
So it was a lot of fun. But speaking about, you know,
(01:05:54):
Indiana Jones guys, let's get right into it.
It is now time for Ride of the Week.
Buckle up thrill seekers, it's time for weddings Ride of the
Week. From the.
Magic of Disney to the thrills of Universal.
We are diving deep into the live's history, uncovering
(01:06:14):
imagineering secrets and sharingbehind the scenes facts you've
never heard before. Real guest interviews, hidden
details, and Remy's personal waiting straight from the heart
of the Sunshine State. This is Ride of the Week only on
Remy's Roundtable, the Florida theme park podcast.
(01:06:35):
And yes, guys, since I did say Indiana Jones, that is what
we're doing it on. We are doing it on Indiana Jones
Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios, or
should I say, or should I say MGMMGM Studios.
So let's travel back to the year1989.
(01:06:56):
That's where I'm sorry, that's that's that is that I'm sorry.
Let's travel back to the year 1989.
That's the same year Disney MGM Studios opened its gates.
Just a few months after the grand opening, guests were
introduced introduced to a new kind of theme park experience,
one that didn't just simulate a movie, it puts you inside it.
(01:07:19):
That's right, the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
officially opened on August 25th, 1989.
Designed to show audiences how Hollywood Hollywood creates its
iconic action sequences. Based heavily on Raiders of the
Lost Ark, the stunt show was revolutionary.
At the time, Disney wasn't just giving guests a seat in the
(01:07:43):
theater, they were giving them afront row seat on set of an
action movie, complete with explosions, fake punches, and
yes, falling spikes and flaming airplanes.
Back then, the show was the anchor for the parks original
concept celebrating the magic offilmmaking.
It was and still is one of the few survivors driving operating
(01:08:07):
era attractions still playing today.
Did you have a chance to go see Indiana Jones at Hollywood
Studios? We didn't go this trip, but we
have been many, many, many times.
You like it? I do like it.
I don't, to be completely honest.
I don't know if we've done it since COVID.
I can remember always doing it before COVID but since COVID I
(01:08:30):
don't remember if we've done it again because my favorite part
and my goal was to always be oneof the randomly chosen guests
from the stands that I would like wear.
I would bring like a crazy hat and try my best to stand out so
that they would pick me. Yeah, I got picked a couple of
(01:08:51):
times when I went to the show. Yeah, I I was picked a few times
and I loved it. All right, so you were you ready
get into the the Imagineering details about the Indiana Jones
epic stone Spectacular. All right, so you know, Disney
never cuts corners and this showis a testament to that.
The stunt sequences were craftedwith help from real Hollywood
(01:09:14):
stunt coordinators, many of whomworked directly with Lucasfilm
to ensure the action felt authentic.
So let's go ahead. Let's go ahead and break it
down. The show opens with Indy
escaping A Peruvian temple, complete with dart traps,
collapsing walls and the iconic giant rolling boulder.
Yes, folks, that boulder is over.
(01:09:35):
Do you want to take a guess how many, how much pounds that
boulder was like in the in the in the show, like how heavy it
is? I'm going to say probably
somewhere between 507 fifty £750.
Yeah, £400. OK, I was pretty close.
(01:09:55):
You were close. So 400 lbs of foam and
fiberglass and it rolls down. It rolls down the that track
like clockwork and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
work. If it doesn't work, they have to
redo the show. Well, that part of the show
again and then do it from the very beginning.
Like the part where the part where the ball is rolling down.
I call the ball. Yes, it's boulder, but you know
(01:10:17):
what? It's a four hundred 400 lbs of
foam and fiberglass buddy. That's a lot.
So let's see here what else would say on here.
The the second act drops us intoa bustling Cairo marketplace
where Indy and Marion engage in an epic hand to hand fight
sequence. That scene features break
(01:10:38):
breakaway props, choreographed falls and quick costume changes.
Plus this is where they pulled afew extras from the audience so
they don't do that anymore. Now, as a whole, live stunt,
stunt performers at they during the Cairo scene.
So no more audience participation during that scene.
So sorry about that guys. Safety, Safety first.
(01:11:01):
So there, there you go. And then there's the grand
finale, the airfield battle. You get the full package here.
Fireballs, machine gun sound, machine gun sound effects flips
in a massive German airplane that spins while Indy fights off
enemy forces. Spoiler alert, the pyrotechnics
are real and they're hot. Like you'll feel the heat in the
(01:11:23):
5th row. All these scenes happen on a
massive hydraulic stage where sections sections can rise,
collapse, spin or disappear completely.
And guess what? The entire show is run with a
multi triggered safety system, aline performers or stage
managers to stop the show mid performances in case of in case
(01:11:44):
of danger, because safety alwayscomes first with live action
stunts. All right, so like I said
before, this was the first themepark attraction to focus
entirely early on stunt performance.
It laid the groundwork for future stunt shows at Universal
and elsewhere. The indie double performs over
30 stunts per show, including high falls with work and
(01:12:07):
choreographed brawls. The show originally included
live explosive that were manually triggered.
Today, it runs on a digitally programmed pyro system for
tighter timing and increased safety.
The stunt actors go through months of martial arts,
gymnastics and whip combat training before they hit the
(01:12:29):
stage. The spinning airplane, it
doesn't just rotate, it controlled via a gimbal system,
allowing it to pivot, lean and shake just like it would in a
real scene. And of course the music.
The score is pure John Williams magic straight from the original
films. Now we got some get.
Now we do have some guest reviews and pretty much all the
(01:12:52):
all the reviews they say that one of them that says I laughed
out loud when they picked my husband to be a background extra
in the market scene. Priceless moment.
This attraction has become a tradition for so many families.
It's not just about these stunts, it's about the
nostalgia, the theater and the crowd reaction.
(01:13:12):
There's something special about hearing 1000 people gasp in
unison, which that is absolutelytrue.
Well, well guys, here comes herecomes my review.
Here's my take on the Indiana Jones epic stunt spectacular.
It's one of the it's one of those rare theme theme park
experience experiences that makes you feel like a kid again.
(01:13:35):
It's not it's not flashy like a brand new roller coaster.
It doesn't use screens or motionsimulators, but what it does,
but what it does offer is real real action, real fire, real
talent. Every stunt is remind is a
reminder of how much skill and choreography go into filmmaking.
The fact that you're watching itlive surrounded by hundreds of
(01:13:57):
cheering guests just makes it electric.
