beautiful state of Florida. So good evening everybody and
welcome. My name is Remy and with me as
always is my dangerous Co host, my partner in crime, my lovely
wife Jen. Hi honey, how you doing?
I'm fabulous. We do have our we have our
travel update guy with us this evening.
What's up? What's up on how you doing man
going? Well, how are you tonight?
I'm doing great, man, Doing great.
(05:55):
Well, I mean, lots of less stuffto cover during the updates, but
there's one thing I do want to cover tonight with you guys, and
that is, you know, we're fans ofThe Muppets, right?
Yes. Like, we're like, we're huge
fans of The Muppets. I.
Mean I am. Who's your Who's your fair
Muppet? Kermit the Frog.
Only Kermit. Kermit's probably my my OG
(06:16):
favorite. He's like Fozzie.
OK? I like Kermit Beaker.
I'm not a big. Doctor Honeydew.
He's OK. Let's see Fozzie.
OK, I can. I can deal with some Fozzie.
Let's see. Who?
Who else am I missing? Oh, Doctor.
Teeth. I don't remember, Doctor.
Electric Mayhem. The band Electric Mayhem.
Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The guy The guy looks like Doctor Doctor John from New
(06:39):
Orleans. No, I like, I like the drummer.
Animal. Animal forgetting.
Animal. Come on, Jen Animal.
Whatever, I'm like 42 years old. This has been a long time since
I've seen an actual muppet. Show, yeah, but did you actually
watch The Muppet Show? When I was a little kid, yes,
because that's what we watched back then.
You watched The Muppets, you watched Muppet Babies, you
(07:00):
watched Sesame Street, things like that when I was growing up.
But I'm 42, Remy. I know that.
And you said, wait, you said TheMuppet Show.
So I remember the the first Muppet Show I was watching was
when they had Mark Hamill on. That was the one I was that was
the one I was watching when theyhad Mark Hamill on the on The
Muppet Show. Super super super long time ago.
(07:23):
It is super long, right? So, so long ago.
How's your how's your summer? How's your summer so far man?
How's it going with the kids? So far so good.
They their last day was last Friday or last Thursday when we
recorded and yesterday was my last day with students.
So tomorrow I guess is the official start of summer for me
(07:46):
because I had to do a teacher day today.
So tomorrow will be a full day with the kids Day though.
I got to take them to our local library and they got to meet
Louie. Oh cool.
I love bluey. Louie's so good.
I will say a week of sleeping has been amazing.
(08:07):
A week of getting to sleep, getting to sleep and sleep
whenever you want to and just like, go to bed.
Whenever you want. Whenever I if I want, if I
wanted to go to bed early, if I want to go to bed like after
midnight and then not have to wake up at 6:00, seven, 6:00 in
the morning to get to work has been.
And then I was telling my friend, I'm like, I never take
(08:27):
naps and I took a nap this morning and I've been taking
naps like every single day. It's amazing how much sleep
helps with a lot of things. Wait, yeah, you took a nap
around what, 1:00 today? I did.
No, I took a nap after we had dinner.
I had lunch. That's right.
So after lunch he took a nap Andthen after 2:00?
No, I was after 2:00. So I slept for like 2 hours.
(08:48):
You slept with and you slept with two dogs too.
I did. I had we're babysitting or pet
sitting for one of our my friend's cousin.
My roommate's cousin is in the Bahamas this week and she asked
us if we could babysit her puppy.
He's like a gigantic 3 year old lab mix.
Black lab mix that looks like hecould possibly be a Great Dane.
(09:09):
Such a such a cuddle monster. Sweetheart.
And he's terrified of the rain, so it's been raining the last
couple days and he's been wanting to cuddle up and like
hide under the covers next to me.
It's been amazing. That also is probably the reason
that I fell asleep a couple times this week because it was
just calming to have a puppy to just sleep next.
Is it just is it just the rain or is he afraid of everything
(09:31):
else? Because I noticed that he.
And he's never liked them because when we had him when he
was a little little one before we gave him back to his because
we we had him for a couple of months a couple years ago when
he was not even a year old. And he's always been terrified
of thunderstorms. That's right, because he would
hide under, he will hide. Under our.
(09:55):
Under our bed. No, not under our bed.
He hid underneath the cover. He always had to be covered up.
Oh, that's right. Shake.
And he still does that to this day.
He shakes. It's bad, yeah.
No, it's it's bad. But anyway, guys, yeah, we do
have, like I said before, pleasevote for us.
We are nominated for Best of Orlando Weekly.
That's vote.orlandoweekly.com. Like I said in the beginning,
(10:18):
you guys do have until July 14th.
That's right. So if you guys are listening to
us, why not pull out your phone and go ahead and vote, vote for
us because that helps us a lot with this show and hopefully we
will be able to win. And it's a theme park podcast.
We are your Florida theme park podcast and we talk about what's
(10:39):
happening at the theme parks, not only what we're doing in our
lives, but mostly what we're doing, you know, at the theme
parks. And right now, like I said, I'm
I'm sad because the reason why Ibrought up, you know, The
Muppets is because I love The Muppets.
And that's The One Show that's going away at Disney's Hollywood
Studios. Mom, I'm talking about Muppet
Vision 3D. So to say, let's all say goodbye
(11:01):
to Muppet Vision 3D. But anyway, guys, let's go ahead
and jump right into it. It is now time for the latest
theme park updates. This is breaking news.
It's now time for the latest theme park updates brought to
you by the Magic Candle Company.Go get a candle and enjoy the
(11:23):
latest theme park updates right now on Remy's Round Table.
Take it away, Remy. All right, so we are starting
out over at the Walt was runningat Walt Disney for a little bit.
We're gonna head over to the Magic Kingdom.
Yeah, we're talking about, you know, the name for the new cars
(11:47):
land area. And you know, I'm gonna have unk
tell us a little about this area.
But we have the name for it. The new, the name for the cars
land area is is going to be called Piston Peak.
So what were you telling me earlier about about this land?
So this is very in theme to the Cars universe.
(12:07):
One of those not very well received parts of Cars is the
Planes movies. And actually Planes 2 Fire and
Rescue is pretty much set. The entire movie is set in
Distant Peak. So they're bringing that to
life. And I feel like that's a detail
(12:28):
that a lot of people are not realizing because it's not
really mentioned. But when I saw the concept
drawing and I saw the car that they had in the like the park
Ranger car, that is a car from the movie, and I recognized it.
So I started doing some researchon my own.
(12:48):
And yes, Piston Peak is the setting of planes to Fire and
Rescue. Did not know that.
I did not know that. But who's playing the what was
it? What's his name?
The the Jeep, It's it's from an old Disney cartoon.
This bear name was Humphrey. I'm trying to think of the the
(13:09):
guy's name. Jen, help me out here.
Do you know who I'm talking about?
Humphrey the Bear and the the Rent the Park Ranger.
Smokey the Bear. No, not Smokey.
Not Smokey the Bear. I don't know what you're
talking. About damn it.
Well, maybe somebody in the chatcan help us out.
Free the Bear. Humphrey the Bear, if you want
to go ahead and look him up, I mean, and I was going to look
(13:29):
him up, but yeah, Humphrey the Bear.
But type in Humphrey the Bear park Ranger name because
Humphrey the Bear was an old school Disney classic cartoon.
Are you talking to the actor that played it?
No no no. I'm trying to get the name of
the character. Humphrey the Bear's partner in
the Walt Disney shorts was a park Ranger named Jay Audubon
Woodlow. Jay Audubon Woodlow OK, so I was
(13:50):
looking at the photos and there's throwing a Jeep in for
Piston Peak. And it looks like the park
Ranger is gonna be your tour guide for for this new, this new
themed land area. So I'm actually looking forward
to this, to this whole area at the Magic at the Magic Kingdom.
Jen, what about you? Are you looking forward to this
to this new attraction? I mean, well, there's themed
area. It seems like it's gonna be
(14:12):
interesting no matter what they do, actually.
So I don't know. I haven't really taken a good
look at it yet, actually lookingright now.
You're looking at it right now, so.
I mean, it looks kind of cool. It kind of falls in line sort of
with like the the railroad, the railroad ride that they have
next near it I guess. Well, speaking about the
(14:33):
speaking about the railroad, Magic Kingdom Railroad will be
will operate a limit limited route during the cars cars and
villains land construction. The rivers of America Tom Sawyer
Island in the in the Liberty Square riverboat will close on
July 7th for you know, like I said before, for cars land and
(14:54):
villains land. The old Pirates League sign and
entrance are now blocked off during the construction of the
upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern.
All right, Jen is on to you. Well, we got what's going on at
what's going on at Epcot. All right, well, at Epcot they
have a new churro milkshake, which I love.
(15:14):
I love churros. It is supposed to be topped with
a Mickey Premium ice cream bar, which I would not have, but it's
now about available at the Sunshine Seasons located inside
the Land Pavilion at Epcot. I always call it Living the Land
and your turn, Sir all. Right so we are heading over to
Disney's Hollywood Studios that's right Muppet Vision 3D
(15:36):
will be closing permanently on June 7th.
That's right. But you guys will have time to
watch all the shows from 9:00 AMuntil 10:00 PM.
So if you guys are out of the park, cool.
That's on a Saturday. So have fun.
Just be careful the crowd and enjoy the show.
Also a also a new a new annual pass holder exclusive treat, the
(15:58):
Cruella Ice Cream Sundae is now available at Disney's Hollywood
Studios. All right, now we're going on to
Animal Kingdom. There is more concrete that's
been torn up and walls demolished to make room for the
tropical Americas. So we're heading over to the
resorts right now. So a new a new welcome home
center has opened at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, located
(16:22):
near Pioneer Hall. I can't.
I can't say that we're pioneer. Pioneer.
Pioneer Hall all. Right, some general Disney World
property news. A new edition of Skipper's
Adventure Tiki mug is now available at Trader Sam's Greg
Grog Grotto. Oh Lord.
Speaking of a word, it's hard tosay.
Grog Grotto. A new pre recorded spiel has
(16:45):
been debuted at Disney's trams, replacing the older live or
manual spiel. 'S as you board.
Please lower your head and watchyour step down on the handle and
pull the door out. Please fold and Stow all
strollers and wheelchairs beforewe depart.
Children may not ride while in strollers.
Once we are underway, please remain properly seated facing
(17:09):
forward with no exceptions for lap sitting except for small
children. During our journey.
Sudden stops and breaking may occur if a personal belonging
falls from the tram. Please remain seated and inform
the nearest cast member at the next stop.
Once you arrive at your destination, please be aware
(17:29):
that you and your bags are subject to a security screening.
Weapons of any kind, including firearms and knives, as well as
selfie sticks, are prohibited. If you have any of these items,
please return them to your vehicle now.
Thank you and welcome aboard. A double sided Princess Aurora
ear headband is now available for purchase at Disney for $35.
(17:54):
That's about where you normally pay for it, and there's a My
Disney Experience icon that's now included more characters,
Disney's Villains, Disney Villains, Stitch and Figment,
and some more. Yeah, for the My Disney
Experience app, so. Which is kind of cool.
I have Belle. You have Belle.
I have. Who do I have?
You need to find out if they have Hades honestly.
(18:15):
If they have Hades I'm getting good looking I'm gonna get it.
But right now my character on myDisney experience app is Vader,
which I love. I love Vader so can say anything
else. Anything wrong about Vader unk
Who do you who do you have on your guys is my Disney
experience app. I am Carl from UP.
Oh, Carl. I don't remember who I picked
(18:39):
for everybody. Oh, my one son, my youngest
Jake, is Donald Duck because he is obsessed with Donald Duck.
I love Donald, great guy. I don't remember who my wife or
my other son are on there. I just changed it to just change
it up a little bit. We were all, we were members of
the Par family before that. So I was Mr. Incredible, She was
(19:03):
Mrs. Incredible. We had my youngest, Jake was
Jack. Jack and my oldest was dashed.
Oh, that's. So cute.
Let me let. Me do have Hades by the way.
Yeah, alright. I'm I'm, I'm changing it late.
I'm changing it after this episode.
So I'm changing my Disney experience AB character from
Vader. That is so.
Hades, let's go. That is so cute that you guys
(19:23):
had the Incredibles as your as your pictures.
So let me let me ask you this. I'll look and Jen as well.
What is your, what is your favorite Incredibles movie?
Is it the first one or the second one?
I they're both really good. I'm sorry, I I might be the one
that like that. That's like the opposite of
everybody else who thinks that, but both of them are good to me.
See, like you like both of them. You just, you just can't pick
(19:45):
which one you like like the most.
I mean honestly, like of course the first one is amazing and
that's what got you wanting to watch the second ones.
Right. There's that part, but no, I
like both of them. OK, how about you, man?
I'm in the same boat because I really liked getting the story
out with Mr. Incredible in the first one and then Mrs.
Incredible or last a girl getting the second movie was.
(20:09):
Time to shine. I really they they both had
really good stories and we're done really well.
I don't know if I could pick between the two of them.
The reason why I said it's because I enjoy #2 because
there's a certain scene that I just cannot stop laughing.
Is that when Jack Jack gets his his his?
(20:29):
Not not only, not only when JackJack gets his, gets his powers,
it's when Jack Jack beats the crab out of a raccoon.
Yes, that is. Funny, I just love that.
I just love that scene and I'm like Jack Jack, you do not beat
up a raccoon. But I'm like, Dang, Jack, Jack
is going hard on a on a raccoon.I'm like, I'm so sad they don't
have Magara. Oh, anyway, all right, so we, so
(20:53):
we are heading over to UniversalStudios.
That's right. Well, I'm going to say it once.
I'm going to say again goodbye to this attraction because I
actually did work at this attraction.
And let's just say I got a certain e-mail back from
Universal and it looks like I might be getting a shirt from
this attraction, which will be closing on August, August 18th
(21:14):
for a final send off is to expect it.
I'm talking about Hollywood RIP ride Rocket.
That's right, Fallout haunted house and Five nights at
Freddy's will be part of Halloween Horror Nights this
year. Stardust Racers and Kronos, both
attractions from Epic Universe have now appeared on Universal
(21:35):
Orlando skyline graphic with RIPride Rocket removed.
There you go. All right, Jen, so we're talking
about Universal now. Now we're moving over to Epic
Universe All. Right.
And Epic Universe, we have the Dark Universe attractions.
They've now been officially added to early park admission
offerings. Universal is now selling Epic
Universe merchandise online through Amazon.
(21:59):
Which I'm kind of curious on what what type of merch are they
selling on online where you can get the same merch from from
epic from epic universe theme park?
Like I like, I don't know, like is it a shirt?
Is it? Is it the Galleons?
Is it? You can get the T-shirts.
And how much? How much?
Between 22 and 30 dollars. OK.
(22:21):
The clever girl one from Oh. From Jurassic Park.
Jurassic Park is 21. You can get the flourish and
blots shirt magical shirts for women for the book T-shirt for
20 bucks. You can get the types of dragon
for how to train your dragon toddler shirt for 16.
What's the Tumblr? How much is the Tumblr?
(22:44):
Tumblr is 21 dollars. Damn.
You have the Universe destination shirt for 22.
The Dark Universe shirt for 22. That's how you had a.
Isle of Berk phone case, openingphone case?
I don't think that would fit. No, they're listening in the
iPhone. Yeah, I always do.
I Yeah, it's an iPhone 14 compatible.
(23:05):
Yeah, but we, I don't know that Android's better than iPhone,
so. We're not getting into that
struggle. Well, they have beverage
holders. They have family vacation shirts
for $13. That's the. $13 for family
shirt. It's a It's a old parallel
wizard in which is era family matching shirt.
You know, if you guys want a vacation shirt, just head on
over to tpublic.com/remy's Roundtable and pick yourself up
(23:29):
a theme park T-shirt. They have a what?
Top socket. How much 16?
I'm not spending that much for freaking no no.
They have a universal destinations.
And I see the jaw. I see the jaw shirt too.
That looks pretty dope. It looks like it looks like a
like a comic book. Go back there.
Sure, real quick and. Click on it.
(23:49):
It looks like the. It looks like a comic book.
No, not a comic book. It looks like the.
It doesn't look like the rock. No, like the the shirt that you
it's Oh, it does look like. OK, so it's a comic cover short.
Yeah, I'm saying it looks pretty.
Cool. I was thinking more like
Billboard, but whatever. OK.
All right. Well, speaking about well,
moving, moving on from Epic universe, we are now heading
(24:09):
over to SeaWorld. That's right, Emperor Penguins
are being introduced to SeaWorldOrlando as part of their new
Penguin exhibit, which they havemultiple emperor Penguins.
I don't know why they're oh, they're, they're bringing more
Penguins, more emperor Penguins because creative city project
from an from an art installationof giant inflatable Penguins
(24:32):
have been placed on rooftops around downtown Orlando.
OK, Jim, what we got from what do we have from Swan and
Dolphin? All right, well let's Swan and
Dolphin which is on on Disney property, Marriott owned hotel.
The first interior rendering of bourbon steak by Michael Mina
has been released. The restaurant opens Midsummer
(24:52):
2025 at the Dolphin Hotel. Entrees.
They have a bone and rib eye. Desserts.
They have warm beignets. They have a drink called the
Japanese Old fashioned. Really good.
You love old fashions, I. Do but Japanese old fashioned
makes me think they might be using sake instead of bourbon.
Ah, OK. So we're now we're heading over
to now we are heading over to the wall, the Walt Disney
(25:15):
Company corporate side. And that is, I know we've all
heard of rumors, but it's going to be locked and loaded for, you
know, for this gentleman becauseI do see him replacing Bob Iger.
And I think this will make a, this will make a great move.
And this is coming from The Hollywood Reporter.
Josh DeMar is reportedly the front runner, front runner to
(25:36):
replace Bob Iger as CEO of the company.
So that's great news and I'm I'mall forward to it.
I'm a I'm 100% supporting this this gentleman right here.
That that's great news for the parks, yes, So much experience
in the parks, that's so good forhim.
It would be really good. All right, so the Orlando Magic
(25:58):
have unveiled their new uniformsfor the 20252026 NBA season.
They look unreal. They really should.
Post a picture. I'm you know what I'm I might
have to on on the next on this episode in our episode link.
I'll post it on there for you guys while I'm doing the editing
(26:18):
because the these jerseys they look so freaking sweet.
They're bringing back the old 90s hardwood classic jersey
where you saw Nick Anderson, Penny Hardaway, Shaq wearing
these old school jerseys and these.
This is the type of jersey that I want because they look so
nice. I mean, just the matching shorts
(26:40):
you get, they're getting the blue, white, black.
The Pinstripe. The pinstripe, Yeah, the
pinstripe jersey, which it reminds me of the 90s throwback
jerseys from when the Orlando Magic, what the Orlando Magic
used to wear. So I am just thrilled and happy
to, you know, just they look sweet.
And Jen, you saw the photos. So what do you think about the
those photos? They look OK.
(27:02):
They look OK. Not my real cup of tea, but they
look OK. It is what it is.
I mean, they'll be where they are.
All right, well, you're. Not going to get much out of me
on that one. No, I'm not.
All right. So we're now heading over to,
you know, some some Orlando newsand that is the city has
approved a $60 million overhaul plan for Lake Eola Park, aiming
(27:26):
to modernize and expand public space.
Jen, what do you think about that?
OK. What's your, what's your input
on? What's your input on that?
Do you think that's a good move that they're going to be
expanding more of the more of Lake Eola and.
I mean, there's not a lot of space for them to expand.
There's not a lot of green spacethere already.
I think they should keep the green spaces they have.
(27:48):
I mean, where do they, what are they gonna knock over that
little bandshell and then expandthe part?
More because it's really it's a nice Center for you know,
theater and everything there too.
So I mean, if they update some of like the technology that's
around there, that would be kindof cool.
If they're I'm looking to moderate modernize the fountain,
that would be kind of cool. These more lighting.
(28:09):
The lighting would be good. If there was more lighting and
everything that that would probably be OK, but there's not
a lot of green space. There sidewalks and.
It's the center, like it's, it'spractically the center of of
Orlando. They need to like, make sure
that they keep like some green space, you know?
They should maybe redo redo the what you call the sidewalks,
maybe like repave them up a little.
Maybe yeah, do something like that would be good.
(28:31):
All right, what else? What else we have, Jen.
We're talking about Lego and Disney.
Well, Lego has released a 5000 piece Disney Castle set priced
at $400.00, featuring charactersand themes from various classic
fairy tales. Yeah, we're not gonna spend
$400.00 on this Lego set. We're not.
New I wouldn't love it but. Well, since Jen is a teacher and
(28:53):
Monk is a teacher as well, we dohave some Florida education and
theme parks as well. You know, it kind of combines
together. So an investigation has revealed
that state funded school vouchers were used to purchase
over 8500 Florida theme park tickets.
How did they do that? Huh.
Well, try this out Nearly, nearly nearly 6000 tickets were
(29:14):
covered through personalized education plan, which is the PEP
scholarships for home schooling.According to the according to
the step according to the step up purchasing guys, only basic
admission is covered. Expenses like parking, food,
souvenirs and premium access is your Fast passes or your Disney
Plus or whatever you want to call it are not eligible.
(29:36):
Yeah, so from what I'm understanding is that those
people that were given money to homeschool their children use
that money to buy tickets. Disney.
Wow, something like that. I mean, cool, we're just going
to have more ignorant people in our society, but that's we were
going to have that anyway. All right, well, speculation
about Universal Cruise Lines. All right, there is growing
(29:57):
speculation that Universal may be planning a cruise line
similar to Disney, Disney's cruise lines.
So NBC Universal has reportedly acquired and updated a relevant
web domain in 2025, fueling rumors of Universal Cruise
Lines. OK, it's a lot of sense.
Honestly, it would make sense for them to be able to go that
next step. Yeah, but here.
Especially since they opened up Epic to sort of compete a little
(30:20):
bit more with Disney. But here's the thing though.
How competitive will they be foryou know, how competitive will
they be against Disney? Because that is a lot of that's
a lot for I mean, cool beans on the if this is if this is going
to happen for Universal, But I mean, I think that I don't know
(30:40):
how much they'll they'll charge for a cruise, to be honest.
But anyway, guys that will do itfor the latest theme park
updates brought to you by our good friends over at the magic
candle company. So do me a favor head on over to
that website, whichisthemagiccandlecompany.com.
Use our code roundtable 19. I check out because you will get
(31:00):

know, putting, you know, old segments onto this program.
And Jen has been on this show for many years and she does not
have her own segment like, you know, like we do.
We do the news Mike does his foodie update his Mike munchies,
(31:23):
Nicole does her geeking out withNicole or what?
Or like we like to say here on the roundtable getting nerdy
with Nicole. And of course, UNK has his
little segment with a little travel update, give you guys
give you guys some updates here in Florida and what's happening
in the travel area. But Jen has her own segment and
I believe she is ready. So guys, let's get into it.
(31:47):
It is now. It is now time for this day in
Disney history with with Jen. Remy, what are you doing?

If it happened in Disney Story Bookland, you'll hear it from
(33:09):
Jen with the history hands. It's this day in Disney history.
(33:31):
Take it away. Take it away, Jen.
OK, OK. I'll stop talking now.
Thank you, Remy. And I've got this.
Ladies and gentlemen, She's about to drop the Pixie dust.
Let's rewind the. Reel.
So whether it's Ralph's films ormagical tales, we're charting
the timeline, riding the rails to when it all happened in
Disney's way, celebrating the magic that made today.
(33:55):
This day in Disney history starts now with Jen.
This day in Disney history starts now with Jen, ladies and
(34:22):
gentlemen, She's about to drop the Pixie dust.
Let's rewind the reel. So whether it's rides, films or
magical tales, we're charting the timeline, riding the rails
to when it all. Happened in Disney's Wakes.
Celebrating the magic that made today, this day in Disney
history starts now with Jen. Don't snow with Jen.
(34:48):
Brought to you by the one and only Jen from Osborne Days to
Epcot Fridays. So take us.
Back from Magic Sky. Take it away.
Take it away, Jen. Take it away.
Take it away, Jen. OK.
(35:08):
OK. I'll stop talking now.
Thank you, Remy. I've got this.
Ladies and gentlemen, She's about to drop the Pixie dust.
Let's rewind the real. So whether it's rides, films or
magical tales, we're charting the timeline, riding the rails
to when it all happened in Disney's way, celebrating the
magic that made today. This day in Disney history
(35:32):
starts now with Jen. Thank you.
All right, so our first edition of this day in Disney history by
Jen. Let's go ahead and talk about it
Disney fans, it's time to hop into our new our time traveling
doom buggy, as my husband likes to put it, and cruise through
some magical moments for Disney's past.
Here's what went down this week in Disney history on June 5th,
(35:54):
1934, big moment for the mouse. Walt Disney Productions
officially locked down the trademark for Mickey Mouse, but
not for cartoons. Note that this one was for books
and newspaper comic strips. That's pretty cool.
So back in 1934, yeah. We, we, how would you, how would
you, you know, get a copyright back in 1934?
(36:16):
I mean, how do what you do now, Basically you would file a
trademark, file a copyright, geta trademark lawyer, somebody who
dealt with that kind of stuff, same thing you do now.
That's pretty cool. Though Mickey wasn't just
talking taking over screens, he was hitting the printed page
too. So those comic strips in 1972 On
this day on June 5th over in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom,
(36:39):
guests took flight for the firsttime in on the If You Had Wings
attraction sponsored by Eastern Airlines.
This was your chance to travel the world without leaving
Florida. Yep.
Who wants to leave Florida? June 5th, 1995, Disney made it
official and announced their wildest park idea yet, Disney's
Animal Kingdom. That's right, this was the day
(37:01):
the world first heard about a new park full of animals and
eventually Pandora on June 5th, 2010.
And sadly, this was the final night for a Magic Kingdom
classic spectral magic. I've never heard of that.
That dreamy nighttime parade full of fiber optics and
nostalgia. Actually, maybe I have lit up
Main Street for the very last time.
(37:24):
Hold on, I'm gonna Jesus, hold on Jenny Kitchen real quick
while while it does music up foryou because.
It's a nighttime parade full of fiber optics and nostalgia, lit
up Main Street for the very lasttime after years of on and off
performances since 1991. Let's cue that music.
(37:45):
OK, well for the. Tears as he says.
Well, first of all, hey, you've heard of spectral magic, right?
I grew up with spectral magic. See, I forget a lot of that I
don't think is important in my life.
I'm just. Saying, Oh my gosh, spectral
magic. The the When you hear the music,
you'll you'll realize what it isbecause it's the music that made
that parade I. Might have heard it many years
(38:07):
ago. That's I was gonna say I hold.
I know that guy. Dang.
It hold on, let me let me pull it up real quick because I'm I
am furious that you do not know I'm not.
I barely remember things that make any sense or matter.
I'm a little mad at you right now because.
Don't be mad at me. I don't remember that you.
Don't. I'm sorry is not OK.
We have friends who actually work.
(38:29):
Don't actually let me stay late enough to go to an actual
parade, so screw you. Well, you know, well, you know,
since we've renewed our passes, we're going to go to the new
nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom.
When? Well, it's opening up in July
and also in August. So, yeah, let's see Spectro some
(38:49):
magic music. All right, so Jen, I mean, it's
this is the music that I would listen to.
Well, actually, I saw this. I saw this.
Don't press the screen. I got it.
(39:10):
This magic night, its stars willplay.
Beside the sky is the spell of light.
Shimmering shimmering carousel about the world tonight to see
money and spend from magic. You're enchanted light.
(39:38):
Welcome to the splendor, the spectacle.
Sparkling sensation where the romance, the comedy and the
thrill of Disney fantasies come to electric life.
Is that supposed to be making? Is that supposed to be?
No, that's a Jiminy Cricket. You know what?
You're right. OK, sorry.
(39:59):
So Jimmy Cricket had a Jimmy Cricket has very own show, which
most, I mean all the guests herewho's listening is that Spectro
Magic was actually Jiminy Cricket's nighttime show
Mickey's is Fantasmic at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Can I can I just say it's very generic Disney music?
And guess who's singing? Guess who was part of, you know,
(40:21):
spectro magic doing doing the singing?
Oh, Susie. Not only her.
It's gonna be all of the voices of liberty.
I recognize their voices. You got a couple of them.
So it's Susie. It's Michelle.
There you go. Ding, Ding, Ding.
Both of Michelle's or just? One, just one.
Michelle. Michelle.
Yeah. So you get like I hear her
because she's she's saying all those high notes in the.
(40:43):
That's what I would be doing. So I'm like, wait a minute, yes,
that's Michelle. So.
The problem? The problem with with and I and
I love. Absolutely, absolutely love.
Voices of. Liberty, Voices of Liberty and I
wish that I was part of Voices of Liberty and maybe someday I
will do that. The problem is the straight tone
and I have vibrato and I have a natural vibrato and it's very
(41:06):
hard on your voice to not use vibrato.
Vibrato. It's.
That hard. It's difficult and it can
sometimes cause you to have vocal cord issues like.
Oh. You get nodules, you get also
just whenever you stress your voice like that, it does.
Is that how you get like nudes or?
Nodes. That's yeah, nodules.
Nodes on your vocal cords. Well, I didn't know that.
(41:27):
I'm like who? Which they, I know the girl, the
ladies that that were in there that we know take care of their
voices so. Yes, they take, they take care
of their voices very well, and they've been doing it way too
long. So there you go.
Not too long, all right. On June 6th, this day in Disney
history, 1994, It was the end ofan era at Epcot.
(41:50):
Captain EO, the third 3D musicalsci-fi film starring none other
than Michael Jackson, played itsfinal show after almost eight
years of moonwalking magic. It closed its doors.
But hey, it came back later for a while because you just can't
keep MJ down. I saw it once.
I didn't like it. I didn't like it as much.
(42:10):
Did you have a chance to go see Captain EO?
Yes, I saw it many times. And do you know who helped
produce directed? I want to say it was Lucas, and
for some reason I've got Burke in my head too, that they both
worked on it. I know George Lucas did for
sure. Well, I know Quincy Jones did a
music for too. For was it Quincy or was it
(42:34):
somebody other producer, music producer I'm thinking of who
actually helped him out with themusic?
Spielberg did not work on Captain E He was initially the
first choice to direct Captain Ethe film, but he was unavailable
because he was doing Color Purple.
But Francis Ford Coppola was hired to direct Captain EO.
Whoa. George Lucas served as executive
producer. George Lucas and and Coppola.
(42:56):
Yep. Wow.
All right, who did? Who did the music?
Besides, I know Michael Jackson did the music for Captain EO,
but who else that it's? Probably Quincy, but.
I got a feeling it is Quincy. Either Quincy Jones or the
somebody else who helped producethat producing music for Kevin
Yell. James Horner.
Oh wow. OK.
James Horner was the person who wrote the score and featured 2
(43:19):
songs, both written by my by andperformed by Michael Jackson,
which are We are Here to Change the world in another part of me.
So he wrote and performed. Jackson wrote and performed.
We are here to change the world. And that's a good song.
James Horner wrote the rest of the score for it and then.
It's it's nothing like you wouldsee in a park today because they
(43:40):
probably put a lot of lot of money into a show like that and
they had big names still doing it.
You'll never see anything like that again.
Nope. And then what?
What happened when the Captain EO closed?
Oh yeah, they brought in the Pixar's short film.
Whatever's good. What is it?
Called yeah, the second time. Yeah, which I, I, I think they
(44:02):
should have kept, you know, Captain EO just a little bit
longer and then change it into something different Besides, I
mean, Pixar. Yeah.
It's, you know, the short films, they're cool, but bring
something else to that theater, you know, like we all know that
that theater was part of Honey IShrunk the Honey, I Shrunk the
Audience. Then it was Captain EO.
(44:23):
Now it's Pixar's short film and.Quincy Jones actually was
involved in Disney's Captain EO.What helped Co write and produce
this song? Another part of me that Jackson.
OK, so. So he Co wrote it with Michael
Jackson. Well, that's cool.
All right, Jenna, What? Else in 2018 on June 6th, Marvel
fans assemble Ant Man and the Wasp premiered on IMAX 3D across
(44:48):
the USA. Quirky, hilarious chapter in the
MCU and Yep, it was a Disney release under the Marvel Studios
banner. Tiny Heroes big screen on June
7th to or 1975, Tomorrowland gota cosmic update when mission to
Mars opened at Walt Disney World.
Disney even teamed up with NASA on this one.
(45:08):
It replaced flight to the moon and gave guests a chance to
blast off in a pre SpaceX world. In 2002.
On June 7th, Kim Possible, the Super spy high schooler and with
a beeper and a naked mole rat made her debut on Disney
Channel. She kicked off with three
back-to-back episodes. So not the drama, right?
And then on 2000 in 2006, on June 7th, Disney dropped a royal
(45:31):
bombshell. Cinderella's castle at Magic
Kingdom was getting a magical makeover into an actual luxury
suite fit for a Princess or an extremely lucky guest.
It could sleep up to four people.
Spoiler, you couldn't book it. It was invite only.
On June 8th, 1994, Pride Rock came to life.
The Legend of The Lion King showopened at Magic Kingdom's
(45:52):
Fantasy Land Theatre. This wasn't the Broadway musical
or the movie, it was a live stage version with some pretty
wild puppetry in effects. That was It was actually a cool
show. Yeah, cool publisher.
I enjoyed it. Yeah, on June 9th, 1934, guess
who waddled into the screen? That's right, Donald Duck.
Quack quack mate. He made his film debut in the
(46:14):
Silly Symphony short The Wise Little Hen.
He's been yelling at people and losing his temper adorably ever
since. Do that sound again?
Quack, quack, I can't do the I can't do the ducky Ducky.
I can't do Donald. I wish I could that part.
And June 9th, 2006, Cars officially hit the road and the
(46:36):
box office lighting up LightningMcQueen made her in.
The gang raced into theaters in the Disney Pixar animated movie
Classic. You know, I think, I think
they're done with all these car movies.
I don't think they are, I think they should be, especially since
they're doing a Toy Story like 5or.
Six, they need to stop. But these movies just stop.
We got it. We we know they're done so.
(46:58):
All right, and. What else?
What else more do I put into a car movie?
All right, cool. Hey, hey, boys and girls.
Look what happened. Lightning McQueen just blew up.
OK, anyway, on June 9th, 2011, Speaking of cars, Disney
announced Cars Land would be open in summer 2012 as part of
the billion dollar makeover for Disney's California Adventure.
(47:20):
Yep, Radiator Springs Racers, Flows Cafe and all the all Route
66. Read the number.
How much was it? How much?
It was a billion dollar make a. Billion dollars to make a themed
land in California. Are we top adventure all right?
On June 11th, 1977, light up thenight, the Main Street
(47:40):
Electrical Parade made its way dazzling debut.
Made its dazzling debut at Walt Disney World.
Glowing floats, that famous Baroque Hoedown music, and one
of the most iconic nighttime parades in Disney history.
Absolutely classic. I remember that one.
So you remember that one, but you don't remember spectrum
magic? No, and it's the most generic
(48:02):
that I. Spectrum Magic took over the
electrical the Electric Michael parade. 42 years old.
I was born in 1982. This was in 1977.
I was a little kid when I went to Disney for the first time.
And you saw that parade. Saw that parade and I was on my
daddy's shoulders. Yes, I remember that.
(48:24):
It is a Disney history classic, all right.
And that's your magical ride through the Dis this week in
Disney History. From Mickey's trademark to Duck
W's Castle suites to Cars with attitude, it's all part of the
legacy we love. Stay tuned next week for more
fun facts and historical Pixie dust on this day in Disney
History with Jen. OK, both stay with me.
(48:46):
OK. But it says with Jen.
So we're going to say with Jen, I'm going to talk a third
person. OK, do you want?
To do that last word again so you can just cut it out and do.
It Nope, it's fine. We we'll leave it in.
We're we're, we're, we're good. I love it.
It doesn't like to take out. Nope.
Anyway, thank you, Jen. And we'll do, we'll do some
more. We will do some more this day in
(49:06):
Disney history next week right here on Remy's roundtable.
Well, guys, it's almost time forus to get up on out of here.
But but before we go UNK, do youhave any travel updates for our
listeners? A couple quick things.
The first thing I think I don't don't believe you said it in the
(49:27):
park news, but Tom Sawyer Islanda rivers of America and the
steamboats close closing date was announced.
I did put. Yep, I did put that in there as
well. OK, I didn't remember you saying
it so. I didn't hear, but I don't pay
attention to them anyway. Hey.
Just to reiterate that it's closing January July 6th and I
(49:52):
will actually be at Disney during that time.
I think I might get to see it onone of its last days before it
closes. I don't usually go to Tom Sawyer
or ride the riverboat anyway, soit doesn't really matter to me.
And then I know right now at Epcot there is a special meet
(50:13):
and greet going on. I don't know how long it's for.
I'm hoping for a while this summer.
But in honor of the new season of Phineas and Ferb, you can
meet Phineas and Ferb at Epcot. Oh, cool.
Nice. And if you saw any of the stuff
for the premiere that they did, I've been watching a lot of it
(50:35):
because I love that show, still love that show.
They did like a concert and likeAshley Tisdale was there
singing. There was a lot of the
characters and everybody that works on the show, they're
performing, and it was like the first time that some of them
sang together in person for someof the songs.
(50:57):
That was pretty cool. I saw that.
That's that was pretty cool. I saw some some clips on YouTube
and yeah, they did a pretty cooljob.
I liked it. They did.
They did the song I got a Squirrel in My Pants.
Yes, yes. And then the only ever thing
that I want to bring up about travel is in the next few weeks,
(51:20):
a little preview. I will start going over my
personal trip just to kinda showyou guys what or to talk about
what's what you got to do to play on the a Disney trip.
So I'll be down there at the beginning of July.
So in the next couple of weeks, I'll share some of that stuff.
And included in that will be howto apply for a DAS if you
(51:44):
qualify. My son qualifies for it or has
in the past. We are setting up to do getting
ready to do his application for this upcoming trip.
So I'll go over that kind of stuff because it's it's a
process. So I think it's good for people
to know how to do it. It's all about it's, it's for
(52:06):
guests who have disabilities andI've used it before because I
have really bad AD ADHD and I have RLS as well, which is bad
for my knees because let's just say that there's certain,
there's certain amount of times where I've waited in line and
I've passed out. I, I literally just passed out
online and, you know, I had to call the paramedics to check up
(52:28):
on me. So I told him everything.
And this kind of kind of thing with Jen too.
Jen, you can't wait in the long, long lines as well.
Yeah, I can't stand or sit for too long because if I stand for
too long, I end up passing. If I sit for, it's a fun, fun
day in my life. Yeah.
And then my one piece of non travel news is I want to share a
little story from my last day ofteaching.
(52:50):
So every year on the last day ofschool, my show a clip from a
90s Disney show called Boy MeetsWorld.
Good show, good show. I saw the show, the ending of
the of the series where they're saying goodbye to Mr. Feeney and
(53:10):
they're trying to get him to tell him tell them that they
that he loves them and that the show ends with him saying I love
you all class dismissed. So I'm showing that to my 7th
graders this year. And the amount of people that
did not know what that show was was so disappointing to me.
(53:32):
I even have my Co teacher who isolder than me was like what show
is this? Really.
Wow. OK, Those those are those.
Right. Have you never seen Girl meets?
World. OK, see, those are those are
some fighting words right there.I mean, come on, who doesn't
know Eric Topanga, Sean Corey? I mean, come on, This is the OG
(53:56):
show that kids remember. I mean, yes, I'm a I'm a
millennial and I grew up watching the show every single
weekend, like every Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
I mean, it will come on on my list of shows to watch in the
evening and boy me boy meets. World.
There we go. Since we've been married, I've
watched the entire series three times already.
(54:21):
When we can't decide on what to watch, that's what we start
watching. And we watch it Claire Thoreau.
And it's it's a great, great show.
So my recommendation to everybody is go watch Boy Meets
World. And if you're really daring, go
watch Girl Meets World. But that's OK.
That's not as good as Boy Meets.Oh great, but I actually love
(54:43):
Sabarina Carpenter. I'm going to pause the real
quick. Jen, you're telling me that
you're just shaking your head no, I mean, and you're saying
that you do not want to watch Boy Meets World.
But you were watching it. But you would.
Rather, but you would rather watch Girl Meets World.
I do like Girl Meets World, but no I don't want to watch either
of them. I'm very stuck in my ways.
(55:03):
And what? Good shot.
And everything. I like watching the Facebook
reels of it. I'm not in the mood to like,
watch all of it. Well, no.
So you don't understand. We have a TV in our bedroom and
he's gonna force me to listen toit as he's trying to calm down
and go to bed. He's gonna force me to watch it.
Hey, absolutely. Hey, I get to.
(55:25):
Season 3 it gets it gets better in Season 3.
No, I love the show. I love the first few.
Seasons are a little bit on the slow side.
When you get to Season 3 and he gets to high school, they get to
high school. Yeah.
It's a little bit better. It's the same thing sort of like
with Saved by the Bell, They gotbetter when they got to high
school. Yeah, yeah.
(55:46):
Watch it on Saturday mornings. I I I hated safe by the bill.
Oh, I loved it. Zack Morris was hot.
Well, I mean, that was all the girls, you know, Dream, dream,
but so. And Slater?
Yeah, totally. Mario.
So, so exciting. So.
So Mario Lopez is a no. He's OK.
I think it like for for me, my crush, you know, was.
(56:09):
Oh, you had a crush on Mario Lopez?
Oh gosh, shut up, it was. Babe, it was.
Are you trying to come out? Jed, watch it.
Watch it. Oh.
My God. Topanga.
Topanga, Topanga. She's cute.
She was cute then too. I don't know why they crimped
her hair though. Her hair looked really pretty.
It looks really pretty. Straight.
I like when it was long. Just long hair.
(56:32):
Her. Her highlights, and I'm like, I
actually got it going on, are Topanga.
But she also used it. They used it as a thing where
like I think she like cut her hair at one point.
That was one of the episodes. And she gave it.
She'd give to Corey. And she looked, she looked and
she started screaming. If I can, if I remember that
scene. Yeah, she screamed.
She was. Like it's my hair, it's my
(56:52):
identity kind of thing, but it'snot your identity.
It's her hair. It's hair.
So I they three of the four maincast members have their own.
Podcast the guy who played Eric and then the girlhood Danielle
Fishel and then. Storm and.
Yeah, writer. Writer.
(57:13):
Yeah. But they talked about why she
changed her hair, because Danielle Fisher actually was
tired of her hair being that way.
We. Got it.
Approved that she could change it.
They talked about it when that episode came about in their
rewatch. Wow, wow, wow.
All right, UNC, Well, I believe Jen and I will we'll find a day
(57:36):
in in July and we'll, we'll, we'll come out to Disney and say
hey to you guys. Sounds good.
All right. Well, guys, it's time for us to
get up on out of here. Guys, thank you so much for
(57:57):
