Today, I want to talk about purpose andthe biblical perspective, and I want to
talk a little bit about how I became awareof God's purpose in the biblical sense,
(01:15):
I always felt a extremely strong desireto serve that led me to join the military
and the Navy, where I served five yearson submarine on a fast attack submarine.
Until I started getting burned out andI got out after five years and began
to pursue real estate, at this point,I didn't know my purpose was I didn't
really read the Bible as much back then.
(01:38):
And I was just kind of doing what Ithought culture wanted me to do, what
my idea of success was at the time, which was to make a lot of money.
So that's why I was interested inpursuing real estate and real estate
investment and real estate salesuntil I started real estate in 2020.
(01:58):
And I realized it was not fulfillingme, not fulfilling me at all.
Actually, I did not enjoythe process of real estate.
And I realized I was only init for the potential money
and income that I would make.
Selling houses in Las Vegas anddoing real estate and being in the
real estate business in general.
When I realized this wasn't going to befulfilling or sustainable for me, or to
(02:22):
keep on going and to keep pursuing growthin this area and my identity, I guess I
didn't want to be known as, Oh, Moussa, the real estate guy, and there's nothing
that's wrong with real estate, but Ijust did not have the passion for it.
I, I felt completely misalignedwith what my actual calling was.
And what I felt passion for, shortlyafter I got out, I realized how much
(02:45):
I enjoy and wanted to be in a realmwhere I could speak, podcast and
write, even though I still didn'tknow my actual purpose, my God given
purpose, I at least knew I had gifts.
In those areas, when we are in alignmentwith our purpose, we can truly step
into our calling and allow God's giftsin us to be received by the world.
(03:06):
And we can share our gifts ina way that most honors God.
in the Bible, living with purposeand understanding our calling is
deeply rooted in the belief that Godhas a specific plan for all of us.
Our purpose is not merely aboutpersonal fulfillment and success,
but in aligning our lives with thedivine will and plan God has for us.
(03:31):
The scriptures emphasize thatevery single one of us was
intentionally created for a reason.
The ultimate purpose.
It's to bring glory to God by livingin obedience with His will and
plan for our life, and making animpact in the world through love.
Here are six key biblical insightsabout purpose and calling with
scripture references for each one.
(03:53):
I'm also going to ask you a reflectionquestion to get your mind stirring.
And to get you in deep thought.
Reflection questions are fundamental tothis podcast and in growth in general.
If we're not analyzing our mind andhow we think and what we're doing, we
can't really begin to take new actions.
In alignment with God's will, again, like I mentioned in previous podcasts,
(04:13):
let us examine our ways and test them.
That's what the reflectionquestions are for.
Number one, we are created for a purpose.
Jeremiah 29 (04:21):
11 puts it this
way, for I know the plans I
have for you, declares the Lord.
Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.
Plans to give you a hope and a future.
The Bible affirms that God createdevery single one of us for a
purpose, Our purpose is connectedto God's overall plan, much greater
(04:41):
than our own individual plan.
And we are meant to live in alignment withHis will, so we can fulfill that plan.
God has a plan for each person,
and we are called to livewith intention and meaning.
So reflect and ask yourself.
Am I seeking God's guidance andunderstanding, God's purpose for my
life, or am I following my own desires?
(05:03):
Number two, our purpose glorifies God.
2 Timothy 1 (05:07):
9 puts it, He has saved
us and called us to a holy life.
Not because anything we have done, butbecause of His own purpose and grace.
It's not all about you.
Your life is not all about you.
At its core, our purpose is toglorify God in all that we do,
(05:28):
whether in our workplace, in our jobs,in our relationships, in service.
We are called to reflectGod's love, wisdom, and grace.
And everything we do So reflect and ask,and what ways am I living for God's glory?
And in what ways am I living for my own
number three, our calling, Glorifies God.
(05:49):
Romans 8 28, and we know that inall things God works for the good
of those who love him, who have beencalled according to his purpose.
Our calling is an extensionof God's plan for our life.
While our purpose is the overreachingreason for our existence, our calling
is how we glorify God in that purpose.
(06:11):
Our calling often relates tospecific tasks, vocations, and
missions God sets before us.
Walking in our calling requirestrue faith, trust, and obedience
so reflect.
How can I better discern God'scalling for me in this season?
Number four.
Our purpose is tied to serving others.
(06:33):
Mark 10 45.
For even the son of man didnot come to be served, but
But to serve and give his life asransom to many Biblical purpose and
calling is inherently connected toserving others advancing God's kingdom
Jesus called us to be salt and light, spreading his love and truth in every
interaction and relationship we have.
(06:56):
So reflect.
How am I serving othersin my life right now?
Number five, our purpose requiressurrender and transformation.
Proverbs 19:21, many are the plansin a person's heart, but it is
the Lord's purpose that prevails.
Living according to God's purposemeans surrendering our own plans.
(07:16):
And being transformed bythe renewing of our mind.
This transformation
happens when we When we seek God's willand we let go of our own desires and allow
God to guide us and to shape our actions, decisions, and desires, So, reflect,
in what ways do I need to surrendermy own plan and embrace God's plan?
(07:37):
number six, our calling involvesfaithfulness in the small things.
In Luke 16, 10, Jesus puts it thisway, whoever can be trusted with very
little can also be trusted with much.
And whoever is dishonest with verylittle will also be dishonest with much.
Faithfulness in the small everyday tasksis key to fulfilling God's calling.
(07:58):
Jesus teaches us that, that thosewho are faithful with little
will be faithful with much.
In other words, how you do the littlethings is how you do the big things How
you do anything is how you do everything.
Often our greater purpose is revealed inour daily obedience to the small things,
So reflect.
How do I view my daily tasks, and responsibilities as an
(08:24):
opportunity to serve God.
Let's recap the six key insights.
Number one, we were created for a purpose.
Number two, our purpose glorifies God.
Number three, our callingis how we glorify God.
Number four, our purposeis tied to serving others.
Number five, our purpose requiressurrender and transformation.
(08:46):
And number six, our calling requiresfaithfulness in the small things.
God's purpose for our lives is toglorify him through fulfilling our
unique calling that he has placed on us.
This requires faith, obedience, and service to others.
It's going to require transformationthrough the renewing of our mind.
Living with purpose in alignment withGod's call leads us to truly live
(09:11):
a life of fulfillment and meaning.
Ephesians 4.
1 puts it as a prisoner for the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy
of the calling you have received toreflect one more time, What steps can
I take today to move me closer to beingfully in alignment with God's plan?
Allow God to lead you to thefullness of your potential,
(09:33):
grounded in his love andempowered by his spirit.
And I want to end it with this scripture.
Second Thessalonians 1 11.
With this in mind, we constantly prayfor you that our God may make you
worthy of his calling and that byhis power, he may bring to fruition
your every desire for goodness.
your every deed prompted by faith.
