The people who walk in darknesswill see a great light.

You will enlarge the nation ofIsrael, and its people will
rejoice.
They will rejoice before you aspeople rejoiced at the harvest,
and like warriors dividing theplunder.
For you will break the yoke oftheir slavery, and lift the
heavy burden from theirshoulders.
You will break the oppressor'srod just as you did when you

destroyed the army of Midian.
The boots of the warrior and theuniforms bloodstained by war
will all be burned.
They will be fuel for the fire.
For a child is born to us, a sonis given to us, a government
will rest on his shoulders, andhe will be called wonderful

Peace.
His government and his peacewill never end.
He will rule with fairness andjustice from the throne of his
ancestor David for all eternity.
