Start here if your soul needs quiet. Day Six of our Advent journey lingers over Isaiah 53, reading the whole passage aloud and letting its stark beauty do the work: a Servant with no impressive form, carrying grief that isn’t His, trading His wounds for our healing. We invited Lauren to voice the text so you can simply listen, breathe, and receive what this “Man of Sorrows” still offers—wholeness for the fractured, peace for the restless, and hope that outlives the dark.

We unpack the core movement of the chapter: a truthful diagnosis of our straying hearts, a deliberate silence in the face of violence, and a surprising outcome where suffering becomes seed for life. Instead of hot takes, we practice stillness. Instead of polished answers, we sit with a story that refuses spin: He was pierced for our rebellion, and by His stripes we are healed. That exchange shapes how we carry our own pain, how we forgive those who wound us, and how we live awake to the quiet strength of Jesus.

As we close, we point forward with expectancy. Advent is not sentimental pause; it’s training our eyes to see the King who came low and will come again in glory. If you’ve been tired, cynical, or just numb, this gentle reading is a reset. Press play, share it with someone who needs hope, and walk with us through the days ahead as we keep our minds renewed and our eyes on Jesus. Subscribe, leave a rating so others can find the show, and send this episode to a friend who could use a steady word today.

quiet our hearts, and we'regonna turn our eyes towards
Jesus as we walk through Adventtogether.
Now every day we'll take a fewminutes to breathe and reflect

(01:19):
and remember the hope that cameinto the world and the hope
that's coming again.
Hey, we are back.
Advent day th day six.
What day are we on?

SPEAKER_01 (01:38):
Definitely day six.

SPEAKER_00 (01:39):
Day six.

SPEAKER_01 (01:40):
Not day third, whatever that was.

SPEAKER_00 (01:41):
I don't know what that was, but we're on day six.
Um I know you're excited becauseyou heard her in the background.
We got Lauren.

SPEAKER_01 (01:50):
Hey everybody.

SPEAKER_00 (01:51):
Hey, listen.

SPEAKER_01 (01:52):
I'm very excited.

SPEAKER_00 (01:53):
Listen, we've missed you this week.
I had to fill a slot here withAshton, who did a great job, but
she's no Lauren.

SPEAKER_01 (02:01):
No, she did do a very good job.

SPEAKER_00 (02:03):
Yeah, she did.
But we're gonna mix it up so youall don't have to listen to
everybody the same day.
Or I mean listen to the sameperson every day.
I'm just not thinking straight, but I'm not even gonna go back
and re-edit this because I'vebeen sick and my brain's just
not working.

SPEAKER_01 (02:19):
That's fine.

SPEAKER_00 (02:20):
And uh you kind of need to know when I'm not
feeling right so you can prayfor me.
Anyway, we are on day six, we'llbe in Isaiah chapter 53, and I'm
going to uh I'm gonna pass it onto Lauren and let her go.
Take it away, Lauren.

SPEAKER_01 (02:41):
Who has believed our message?
To whom has the Lord revealedhis powerful arm?
My servant grew up in the Lord'spresence like a tender green
shoot, like a root in dryground.
There was nothing beautiful ormajestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.
He was despised and rejected, aman of sorrows, acquainted with

(03:03):
deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him andlooked the other way.
He was despised and we did notcare.
Yet it was our weaknesses hecarried, it was our sorrows that
weighed him down, and we thoughthis troubles were a punishment
from God, a punishment for hisown sins.
But he was pierced for ourrebellion, crushed for our sins,

(03:24):
he was beaten so we could bewhole, he was whipped so we
could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, havestrayed away.
We have left God's paths tofollow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him thesins of us all.
He was oppressed and treatedharshly, yet he never said a
word.
He was led like a lamb to theslaughter, and as a sheep is

(03:45):
silent before the shears, he didnot open his mouth.
Unjustly condemned, he was ledaway.
No one cared that he diedwithout descendants, that his
life was cut short andmidstream, but he was struck
down for the rebellion of mypeople, he had done no wrong and
had never deceived anyone, buthe was buried like a criminal,

(04:05):
he was put in a rich man'sgrave.
But it was the Lord's good planto crush him and cause him
grief.
Yet when his life is made anoffering for sin, he will have
many descendants, he will enjoya long life, and the Lord's good
plan will prosper in his hands.
When he sees all that isaccomplished by his anguish, he
will be satisfied, and becauseof his experience, he my

(04:30):
righteous servant will make itpossible for many to be counted
righteous, for he will bear alltheir sins.
I will give him the honors of avictorious soldier, because he
exposed himself to death.
He was counted among the rebels,he bore the sins of many and
interceded for rebels.

SPEAKER_00 (04:50):
Oh I did that the other day.
Started talking and mymicrophone was turned down.
I wasn't following along, I wasjust listening and kind of
getting caught up in it andrealized it was over.
That was Isaiah 53, verses 1through 12.
I don't think I said it at thebeginning.
So if you've made it this long, now you know what you just

(05:12):
listened to.
It's pretty much the wholechapter of um of or the whole,
yeah, the whole chapter 53.
Gosh, I just can't talk tonight.
Lauren, you gotta speak for me.

SPEAKER_01 (05:23):
Listen, you fix your brain.
Okay.
Something.

SPEAKER_00 (05:27):
All right, you know what we're gonna do?
We're gonna be back tomorrowwith day seven, and we'll have
Lauren back.
I'll probably talk less so shecan talk more.
We'll see ya.
