A persistent knock echoes through the halls of modern Christianity—not from seekers, but from Jesus Himself, standing outside the doors of His own church. This sobering revelation forms the heart of a powerful message that confronts the lukewarm condition of today's believers.

The ancient church of Laodicea wasn't struggling or failing—it was prosperous, comfortable, and self-satisfied. Their lukewarm spiritual condition perfectly mirrored their physical reality: a city that piped in water that arrived neither refreshingly cold nor therapeutically hot, just uselessly lukewarm. Jesus' devastating assessment still rings true today: "You say 'I am rich, I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing,' but you do not realize that you're wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked."

We've created a Christianity that's wealthy but not powerful, comfortable but not transformative. We've traded glory for graphics, built altars to personalities rather than holiness, and crafted a faith that asks Jesus to wait in the back row while we run the show. Prayer altars stand empty while production values soar. Satan didn't need to destroy the church—he simply needed us to believe we were fine without radical dependence on Jesus.

What keeps us spiritually anesthetized? Comfort that avoids spiritual disciplines, fear of man that silences prophetic truth, and idolatry of self that transforms Jesus from Lord to life coach. The consequences extend beyond our personal spiritual lives—our children don't know truth because we didn't teach it, marriages crumble because we didn't fight spiritually, and culture deteriorates because we whispered when called to roar.

Yet mercy remains—Jesus still knocks, offering refined gold instead of fake prosperity, white garments of righteousness instead of shame, and spiritual eye salve for clarity in a blind world. The question remains: Will we be the church that hosts services but never surrenders, or will we open the door and let Jesus take over completely? The time to wake up is now. The remnant will be bold, unashamed, and burning with holy passion.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The world is changing and time is running out.
This is Renewed Mindsets, wherewe confront biblical truth
head-on no sugarcoating, nocompromise.
We expose false doctrine, reveal fulfilled prophecy and
shine light on the demonicdeception of these last days,

(00:21):
but we also stand firm on thehope of Christ's return, the
call to holiness and the urgencyof true salvation.
It's time to renew your mind, for the time is now.
Let's go, boys.
Hey, welcome to RenewedMindsets.

(00:46):
I'm Rick and I'm so glad you'rehere.
There's a knock, not a loud one,not a violent one, just steady,
and it's coming from the doorof the church.
The scary part it's Jesusknocking, not on the hearts of

(01:12):
sinners, but on the doors of hisown people.
Revelation 3.20 says here I am,I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice andopens the door, I will come in.
What kind of church has to bere-invited to let Jesus back in?
Let me tell you Laodicea.

(01:33):
And today I'm here to tell youwe are living in it.
The modern church, dressed upin lights and sound and likes
and followers, is asleep incomfort while the world burns
around it.
The world is on fire, but thechurch is not, and that's the

(01:57):
danger.
Not that we've lost doctrine, not even that we've turned away
completely, but that we thinkwe're fine when we're not.
This episode today is notentertainment.
It's not soft or cute orpolished.
This is a prophetic wake-upcall, because the church that

(02:22):
won't wake up won't rise up,because the church that won't
wake up won't rise up.
Laodicea wasn't a small orbroken place.
It was booming, a wealthy cityin Asia Minor or modern-day
Turkey.
It was a center of commerce, acenter of medicine and fashion.

(02:43):
They were famous for wealth andbanking.
They had a medical school therethat was known for eye salve.
They had fine black wool thatwas manufactured there for
luxurious clothing.
They had everything except forwater.
There was no local spring.

(03:03):
They had to pipe in water fromother cities using an aqueduct.
Now, by the time the hot waterfrom Heriopolis arrived, it was
lukewarm.
The cold water from Colossae, same thing, lukewarm.
That water system was a literalsymbol of spiritual uselessness

(03:24):
.
Jesus uses their very identityto speak to them.
He says in Revelation 3, 15 and16, I know your works, that
you're neither hot or cold.
I wish you were one or theother because you are lukewarm.
I will spit you out of my mouth.
He's not saying I wish you werecold in the faith he's saying.

(03:47):
You're ineffective, you bringno refreshment, you bring no
healing.
You've become so neutral thatyou're nauseating.
This is the only church inRevelation that Jesus has
nothing good to say about.
Not one compliment, just arebuke.
Let's take a look in the mirror.

(04:08):
Today's church is wealthy,image-obsessed, celebrity-driven
, doctrinally shallow, spiritually distracted and, just
like Laodicea, we think we'refine, I am rich, I've prospered,

(04:30):
I don't need anything.
Meanwhile, our prayer lives aredead, our altars are empty.
Our churches are entertainmentcenters instead of hospitals for
broken people.
We've traded the glory forgraphics.
We've made disciples ofInstagram, not of Christ.
We platform personalities, notholiness.

(04:51):
We quote influencers more thanwe quote scripture.
We've got branding merch, motivational sermons, but we
don't have repentance.
Jesus is outside the buildingand we're too busy to notice.
So let's break this down.

(05:13):
Revelation 3.17,.
You say I am rich, I haveacquired wealth and do not need
a thing, but you do not realizethat you're wretched, pitiful,
poor, blind and naked.
Rich in resources but notspirit, blind, unable to see our
sin, naked, spiritually exposedand ashamed.

(05:36):
This is where the enemy hasdeceived us.
He didn't need to destroy thechurch.
This is where the enemy hasdeceived us.
He didn't need to destroy thechurch, he just needed us to
think that we were fine withoutJesus.
We're clothed inself-confidence, not in
righteousness.
We see through cultural lenses, not spiritual ones.
We've got money in one hand, but we've got no power Crowds

(06:03):
but no consecration.
Jesus isn't being poetic, he'sbeing brutally honest.
You're broke, blind and naked.
What happens when we no longerknow how bad it's gotten?
We lose our urgency.
We stop fighting, we startcoasting, and lukewarm people
always coast until they crash.

(06:26):
So why won't we wake up?
Well, first reason is comfort.
Comfort is the anesthetic thatputs the church to sleep.
We don't want to fast, we don'twant hard truth.
We want Jesus, but we want himto sit in the back row while we
preach our dreams.
Yeah, another reason why wewon't wake up fear of man.

(06:50):
We've made peace with sin toavoid conflict with sinners.
We're silent on abortionbecause it's political.
We're silent on genderconfusion because it's just not
my thing, it's not my business, right.
We're silent on holinessbecause it's too old school.
Fear of offending people hasreplaced fear of God.

(07:13):
Another reason we won't wake upIdolatry of self.
Modern Christianity teachesself-help, not self-denial.
We've made God a life coach,not a king.
We've made Jesus the Savior whoserves us, not the Lord.
We submitted to 2 Timothy.

(07:35):
3.2 says in the last days peoplewill be lovers of themselves.
Tell me that's not today.
People will be lovers ofthemselves.
Tell me that's not today.
And when the church is in lovewith itself, it'll never carry a
cross.
A lukewarm faith has a cost, andthat cost is souls.
Our children don't know truthbecause we didn't teach it.

(07:58):
Our marriages fail because wedidn't fight spiritually.
Our culture crumbles because wewere silent when we were
supposed to roar.
Lukewarm Christianity ispowerless Christianity and in
the last days it's not enoughjust to be nice.
The remnant will be bold, unashamed and burning.

(08:20):
Jesus said I wish you wereeither hot or cold, because even
cold people know that they'refar from God.
Lukewarm people don't see thedanger, they're content in their
compromise and, worst of all, they misrepresent Christ to the
world.
Now here's the mercy of Jesus.

(08:41):
In this message.
Jesus doesn't walk awayRevelation 3.19,.
He's knocking, but he's notkicking the door down, but he's
waiting.

(09:01):
He's offering gold refined infire, real treasure, not fake
prosperity.
He's offering white clothes towear, righteousness that covers
our shame and salve for our eyes.
He offers spiritual clarity.
In a blind world.

(09:21):
He's saying let me back in, letme set you on fire again, let
me make you holy, let me openyour eyes.
So here's the question whatkind of church are we going to
be?
The kind that hosts servicesbut never surrenders?

(09:42):
The kind that sings songs butnever repents?
The kind that quotes scripturebut doesn't obey it?
Are we going to be the kind ofchurch that opens the door, that
bows in repentance and saysJesus, come in and take over.
He's still knocking, but hewon't knock forever.

(10:05):
He who has ears, let him hearwhat the Spirit says to the
churches.
This is your moment to wake up,to light the fire again, to be
the church that overcomes, notthe one that gets spit out.
It's time to answer the door.
